An attempt to rob some girl in a cloak ended with Emerald being mistaken for her girlfriend. It took some convincing, but receiving unusually tender sex convinced Emerald to give Ruby a shot.
Emerald hesitated for a moment as she tried to process everything that brought her to this point, watching as Ruby stripped in front of her, face heating up as a blush spread across her cheeks. It all had started as a simple job, bumping into Ruby to steal her wallet and scroll for a quick buck. Instead, she found herself being brought back to the huntress’ apartment after being mistaken for her girlfriend and she couldnt find it in her to say no.
“I know I dont have much, but I hope I can make the night worth your while,” Ruby said as she pulled off her top, stretching a bit as she smiled at Emerald. “Though, you dont have to go through with this.”
“I… I need to do this,” Emerald said as she looked away, trying to hide her blush. “Its either this or jail, right? You caught me, and if your team found out what I was really doing-”
“And you dont need to make it sound like this is some punishment that was chosen for you. You needed money, right? I pay you for spending the night with me and we call it even.”
“I’m not a prostitute!”
“I’m not calling you one.”
“Paying me for sex might as well be calling me one.”
Ruby sighed and made her way to the bed. “Okay, then, what do you want?”
“I-I…” Emerald went quiet for a moment, not entirely sure what exactly it was that she wanted. To be away from here, sure, but being anywhere else didnt seem as appealing either. She took a breath to calm herself, trying to keep her blush down. “I want a night where I dont have to worry about anything. A night where I can be me and… be with someone without expecting any sort of favor out of it.”
“Then we can have that night together.”
Emerald felt herself get pushed down to the bed, her blush growing as her cheeks heated up, staring into the silver eyes above her as she felt a hand slip down her thigh. Her lips pressed against Ruby’s, feeling her pants being pulled down and feeling gentle fingers run across her. A small moan escaped her lips as she felt a tinge of pleasure run through her spine. “R-Ruby-”
“Just relax.” Ruby smiled and kissed Emerald’s neck. “Relax and let yourself enjoy the moment.”
Emerald nodded as she felt Ruby kiss down her body, stopping at her hips. She moaned once more as she felt Ruby start to press into her and grind against her, giving into her touch and relaxing with her.

Emerald slowly got up and stretched a bit, pausing at the smell of coffee and eggs cooking. She looked around the bedroom and slowly got up, still naked from the night before. The light from the sun passed through the windows, her clothes strewn about with Ruby’s.
Ruby peeked into the bedroom, smiling at her. “Breakfast will be ready soon.”
Emerald blushed as she saw Ruby still mostly naked, looking away from her. “O-oh, thanks.”
“Dont take too long to come out.”
Emerald nodded and took a deep breath as everything from the night before came back to her. Feeling Ruby’s cock inside of her, the gentleness of her fingers running across her, the tenderness and relaxation she found with the huntress. She slowly picked up her clothes and started to get dressed, taking a moment to bask in the feelings that ran through her. Ruby was meant to be a mark, and yet, hearing someone call her Ruby’s girlfriend, spending a tender night with the huntress, feeling like belonging….
Emerald finally got dressed and stepped out of the bedroom. “What’s for breakfast?”
“Coffee, eggs with ham, and some toast.” Ruby finished plating the eggs, adding a little cheese over. She turned to face Emerald, chest still bare and marked with a few bruises from the night before. “Unless you’re planning to leave before eating.”
“N-no, I plan to eat, but I…” Emerald sighed and looked away. “Can we… do this again? Maybe not tonight but sometime again-” She paused as she felt Ruby kiss her, interrupting her words.
Ruby broke the kiss and smiled at her. “I’d like that.”

Blake ran a coin through her fingers as she watched Ruby lay Nora and Cinder on the couch with care, her heart cracking. “You said it yourself, you’re living with thieves. They should be punished for their misdeeds-”
“And they already have been.” Ruby sighed and gently stroked Cinder’s hair. “Besides, its not like they had much of a choice.”
“Of course they had a choice. Everyone has a choice.”
“And in the mortal realm, sometimes that choice is taken from you. Just like it was for me.”
Blake felt her heart skip a beat as her breath hitched, the coin in her fingers dropping to the ground as she tried to process what she heard. “W-what? N-no, you were born a god-”
“You and I both know that’s a lie,” Ruby said, her tone starting to sound more harsh. “I found out what really happened to me.”
Blake sighed and sat down next to Ruby, a gentle hand reaching for her thigh. Her finger traced a circle over Ruby as she looked away. “When did you find out?”
“Not long after I was banished. A few memories came back to me, I did some digging, eventually came across who I was. And since then, I’ve been trying to help people that were in the same place as me before I died.”
Blake nodded and looked over at Cinder and Nora, her fingers shaking as she tried to form the words she wanted to say. None of it sounded right to her, but she knew the truth of who Ruby was. The street urchin who was killed before her time was up, a soul that she had felt pity for and wanted to give a second chance. Someone she grew to love and thought she could hide away to keep as her own. “So these people are… like you?”
Ruby nodded. “Cinder was abandoned by her family at an orphanage. No one knows who or why, and she was “adopted” when she was ten. Her new family was abusive to her, so she ran away a few years later and lived on her own. I ran into her when she was sixteen and caught her trying to steal from me. I took her in and we got to know each other after a while.” She paused and glanced at Nora. “Nora joined us a couple years ago after Cinder brought her over. Turned out her mother abandoned her after their house caught fire and she’s been living on her own since.”
“And Emerald?” Blake asked curiously.
“She’s… different. She was a troubled kid who had a bad run in with me. She’s still not technically part of our family but she has nowhere else to go-”
“And yet, she still loves you despite coming home late.” Emerald walked down the stairs and sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose. “So, what was it this time? Another stray to bring here?”
“Not this time. An old friend.”
Blake watched as Emerald casually made her way over to Ruby and kissed her, her own heart stopping as her eyes locked onto her lover. Jealousy started to rise through her as she spoke, her own voice a loud whisper through clenched teeth. “Ruby, can we talk?”
Ruby nodded and smiled up at Emerald. “I’ll be right back, and then I’ll make it up to you for being late, okay?”
Emerald rolled her eyes and gave a playful pout. “But Ruby…”
“I promise.”
Blake didnt wait to pull Ruby by her arm, dragging her outside and pinning her to the wall. “What was that?”
“A kiss.” Ruby paused, then looked away. “Right… we need to talk about that…”
“Then talk.”
“I’ve… been dating Emerald.”
Blake’s heart shattered and she pulled away from Ruby, arms shaking as she put a hand to her lover’s cheek. She slowly moved her head to look her in the eyes, voice cracking. “D-dating? What about us?”
“We havent been able to see each other much, remember?” Ruby gently put her hand to Blake’s and gripped her fingers. “And since I have to play the part of mortal, I dont get to be with you. I still love you, but… we… we cant be together until I finish my task.”
Blake pulled away and sighed as she turned away from Ruby. “I… I should leave.”
“Blake-”
Blake pulled her own hood up and stepped through the shadows, disappearing without a trace. Her heart raced with the idea that she was losing Ruby, that she had done something to push her away without realizing it. She stepped through the shadows and into her own room, dropping onto her bed with a heavy sigh. With a shaking hand, she reached out to pet one of her cats, holding back her own tears. “I’ll bring you back to our realm, Ruby. And then you can be mine again.”
