"Fan": Whatever. It's not there's anything good to do with the music anyways.

Yang: ...

"Fan": Ugh, and don't get me started on these "thirst" traps!

"Fan": You just know whoever made these are just hiding behind the "it's implied" excuse. We all know you're a pervert, so just admit it and jump off a bridge and die! Ugh!

"Fan": Soneone who clearly understands how the real world works. Unlike SOME of us.

"Fan": And you.

Ruby: Huh?

"Fan": You are the worst, most sorry excuse of a character I have ever met.

Ruby: I am?

"Fan": First off, your look is so cliché, it hurts. Red Riding Hood with a gun? Real original. Also, what are you, fourteen? You shouldn't even be near these people, let alone going on the same adventures as them. You're a liar and a fraud, just like that idiot Jaune; you just cheated your way into school. The big difference is that you did it by breaking the law and being a vigilante who should have just let the police do their job. But with a thug like your sister, who breaks into bars under the legal drinking age and sexually assaults grown men before destroying their business without getting any punishment because her tits are somehow fatter than her head, I'd say it's no wonder.

Ruby: ...

"Fan": Of course, it's not she's the only bad influence in your life. Your deadbeat dad was a womanizer who got what was coming to him, and your uncle is an alcoholic mess who had to change his voice because he didn't know the meaning of the words, "no" and "stop".

Ruby: Hm...

"Fan": And finally, your "accomplishments" are so forced that you might as well change your name to Mary-Ann Susan. Everything just has to go ypur way because you know how the world works. You want to be so much like your mommy, but you don't want to put in the effort to actually better yourself.

Ruby: I see.

"Fan": You, your friends, this party, and everything you touch becomes a bigger and bigger trash fire the more you stick your nose into it, no matter how much you and your racist, sexist, homophobic "friends" try to make it better. You're a disgrace to your mother, and an abomination to your father.

Ruby: ...

"Fan": ...

Ruby: ...Are you done?

"Fan": I... I had some other things to say, but I can't remember them right now.

Ruby: Okay. I think I get what you're saying. Honestly, some of that stuff does kinda make sense when you think about it.

"Fan": Really?

Ruby: Mhm. But I also think you should leave.

"Fan": What?! Oh, I get it! You're trying to silence me because I'm telling the truth!

Ruby: No, I'm asking you to leave because you came to this party, but instead of just enjoying it for what it is, all you've done since you showed up is complain without offering anything actually constructive as criticism. This is a party for people to have fun, and you showing up, making fun of it, and then acting like you know how things should but not offering anything except even more criticism is just... dumb. Like, really, really dumb.

Ruby: They're here to have fun. And we're here for their fun, too. Because we believe in the message they all believe in, too. And that's why we're here. To make it better.

"Fan": I...

Fan: Can I stay? Just a little longer?

Ruby: If you promise not to be such jerk anymore, then I'm okay with it.

Fan: Yeah. I want to make it better, too.

RWBY Volume 9s soundtrack is the best so far

controversial I know

I don't actually listen to music from an iPod btw, no it's far worse I use a btr7.

But to the point, up until now I have said that V3 and v4/5 (in my mind the same volume) have had the best music. With the exception of the absolute classic that v2's boop, caffeine and A Minor Hiccup.

But now V9 is here and the music is different.

Literally in that Casey has taken over but also in that it's adapted to the new setting of the ever after. The setting that like it's soundtrack constantly changes and confuses.

Take why are you still here, listen to the opener and then skip to the last bars and you could think you've skipped songs. And yet like a rush Garcia orchestration the transition is gorgeous.

But there's something off if you watch the show.

OST doesn't add up. Take my favorite of the volume, checkmate (sorry chatterbox) in scene it makes no sense, hits are off beat the chorus is clunky. But that's not the songs fault. The song is perfect.

And yet so is the scene. The chess fight is peak RWBY after V7/8s rather lackluster performance in choreography. A return to big metal shoe or the old days of pre Maya. It flows it has contrast and it shows unique combos. But with checkmate it just doesn't work.

Now let's look at the opposite. The cat fight and Ruby's return. Red like fucking Roses Part 3 literally pushes the scene forward, the 4 colors moving in incredible ways that blend together so well yet contrast during a combo and melt together for the final note.

Thats It, the final note and the action are synched. That's the difference, the balance of music and action.

George Lucas once jokingly told John knoll that it's not the audience won't be looking at the action, they won't be paying attention to the background, they'll be listening to the music.

George was joking but he's got a point, the music, particularly in RWBY with our over the top, wack you over the head with it, metal fights, is driven by musical action.

Introduction Post (pinned) I figured since I've made some new boop-friends and such, I might make a brief little introduction post about me and what you'll expect to see on my blog... even though it's kind of in my blog intro itself. *You can call me Undine! (she/her) it's nice to meet you all and as said before I had so much fun exchanging boops with everyone.

I like a bunch of stuff, but mainly I'm really into things from days gone by such as the oldies but goodies. We're talking:

Music. My listening scope is the 20s-60s; but with a main focus on the '50s-'60s. I even have a big ol' Spotify playlist compiled of my favorite oldies if you're interested in listening to that! There's even earlier music in there too. If you want to check out what kinds of artists I mainly listen to, I have a last.fm profile. It'll give you a better idea! But some of my favorites at the moment are Jim Reeves, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Sanford Clark, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Ricky Nelson, Lola Albright, Hank Williams, Webb Pierce, Faron Young, Starset, Vitas.... Obviously this list is not exhaustive and you can go to my Lastfm and pretty much my tastes are there! I mainly like rock n' roll and classic country but again, Lastfm will tell you!

Movies. I'll admit I don't really have the attention span for much movies but on the occasion that I do, the Golden Age of film is probably my go-to. I have a lot of stuff on my watchlist... procrastination is a big thing with me.

TV series, too. I like the older TV series but I'm into modern stuff as well (I promise I'm not just a boomer, the modern stuff applies to everything else too! /j). I really like the noir and detective noir genres. Some examples of TV series I like include Dragnet, Peter Gunn, Johnny Staccato, Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, the Addams Family, BBC's Merlin (still need to finish), Doctor Who (although unfortunately I've not been able to catch up in a long time so no spoilers please!)

Old-time radio. Dragnet (which originally started as OTR) and Broadway is my Beat are some examples of what I'm into. So going into this, you will probably see me post people or things from the medias above, or others also. Other things I like include:

Pokémon. A bit rusty as I've not played a mainline game nor completed one in a while although wanting to get back into it soon but still like it.

Playing video games

Photography, one day I hope to learn how to become a great photographer. In POWR band au, what kind of genre/sound does POWRLINE go for? Does it differ w/ RWBY/JNPR? If this makes barely any sense, my bad, recovering from cold and exhausted from rock concert (this actually popped into my head during the last performance) 🥲✌️

So I basically listened to only Casey Lee William songs when making art for this au, so I think that specific songs fit the other bands more, so technically they all have a similar sound because of that 💀 but realistically it would sound different

So RWBY as a band was super into playing heavier songs, as it was a way for them to vent frustrations about their lives! And the songs tended to be more complicated as each member were used to their instruments.

JNPR as a band liked making lighthearted and fun songs! They’d sometimes get an electronic sound in them too. Just a very “love song” group!

And as for POWR, they mostly do covers of songs that RWBY and JNPR had written in the beginning, biggest differences between them was the inclusion of a piano in any of POWRs songs! They start making original stuff once Penny and Oscar get more comfortable with their instruments, but they tend to stick to more positive songs as well, but do go for an occasional edge in their music !!!

I hope I explained that in a way that makes sense, I’ll list some RWBY songs that I think fit each band!

Resting against his shoulder, Carol felt relaxed as Azure continued to read the book they recently discussed.

They both liked this book and recently decided to review the current parts of the series before the upcoming spinoff, and naturally, Carol wanted Azure to read the first book since.... Well, his voice was soothing to her.

She chuckled when he awkwardly mispronounced one of the words and coughed awkwardly."A-Apologies..." He murmured, before continuing on to the next page.

I think I lost count.... Its a bit surprising how fast he can read... , Carol thought as she looked up at Azure. Smiling to himself as he managed to read 2 whole paragraphs in one breath.

She chuckled before eventually, an idea came to mind.

"Azure..." She called. The latter perked up and looked to his side to stare into her eyes.

"Yes?" He responded, somewhat curious on what Carol had to say. And he only got even more curious when she smiled somewhat more playfully.

"Carol... What exactly are you-"

"Boop."

Azure paused. One moment, Carol's head was resting on his shoulder. The next, he felt his nose against hers for a few brief moments before Carol pulled away with an amused smile.

And in just a matter of minutes, Azure's face had gone into a completely flustered state.

Carol chuckled in amusement as Azure concealed his face with the book, somewhat embarrassed by his expression.

"W-What... Exactly was that?" He managed to question despite his embarrassment. Azure decided to lock eyes with Carol as she was about to respond.

Carol's amused smile changed into a grin as she rested her head on her hand.

"Something called 'affection'."

{ Frisk De La Rose } { Boop }

Deciding to spend time with Emil, Frisk wanted to know more about his general hobbies. Not only because she was curious, but also because she intended to use such knowledge for future gift giving.

Quite honestly, Frisk's timid smile widened as she listened to Emil carefully explain his hobbies.

Sure she was somewhat confused on some parts, but other than that, she felt enjoyment in seeing him so happy while talking about things he loves.

Then, Frisk had a lightbulb moment and her eyes sparkled a bit. Emil managed to catch the moment when it happened and he'll admit, she looked adorable.

"U-Um.... Emil?"

"Yes?"

"W-Well..."

Emil rose a brow, waiting for her to continue. Frisk chuckled awkwardly as she still contemplated for a proper response.

"Can you... Demonstrate how you do your hobbies? Its just- I'm pretty curious..." She asked, somewhat nervous for the upcoming response.

Emil thought for a moment, before eventually sighing and giving Frisk a nod of agreement. She even received just a sliver of a smile on his face. Maybe even a bit of blush too

As Emil began demonstrating, he began to lose track and almost forget Frisk was in the room. Mostly because of how quiet she was, but she's only like that cause she's desperately trying to keep focus.

Bu then....

"Frisk, are you okay? You're awfully-"

Boop.

I mean, it was merely unintentional. It just happened that Frisk was close enough for her and Emil's noses to touch.

But at the end of the day, Frisk always ends up becoming a blushing mess.

"I-I AM SO SORRY! I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS T-THAT CLOSE SO I-"

"Its fine."

".... Eh?"

Frisk's face slowly washed away the redness of her cheeks as she looks at Emil with confusion.

"Its... Fine?"

Emil turned to Frisk, smiling.

"Yes. It is."

Top 3 moments from RWBY vol 8?!!!

oh gosh, this is gonna be hard! 

1) Monstra exploding - that whole sequence was nothing short of breathtaking. The lighting and effects were phenomenal, and seeing the aftermath with the disintegrating whale coloring the air like a post-apocalyptic landscape really set the mood and let us know we are now in the third and final act. Absolutely one of if not THE best sequences in RWBY (or at least a subjective favorite of mine). MAJOR props to the animators.

2) The moment when Cinder, Watts, and Neo enter the command room - the music swells and builds, Cinder opens her hand and a single flame dances in her palm, the civilians scream and try to flee but there’s a hard cut to their dead bodies at their desks, with one final ringing note echoing among the corpses and flame. It lets the moment set in, building and building tension, then everything is quiet and all life is gone. These villains are a threat and are competently working together, and it raised the stakes (which was sorely needed after ch12). An excellent trio I wish we’d seen more of. Incredible sound design that whole scene. Cinder’s leitmotif playing right before the hard cut and again at the end bookends the scene beautifully. Again, one of the absolute BEST scenes in RWBY.

3) This is gonna sound small, but the scene in Monstra when Oscar and Ozpin are just... talking. It’s a moment that’s been a long time coming and really felt like a breath of fresh air. They’re both just so tired. This is the first conversation they’ve had where they feel like equals, and it’s always heart-wrenching to see Oscar openly express his fears. Sometimes it seems he’s taking everything too well, so seeing how resilient he’s being juxtaposed with how broken he feels gives us some much-needed insight that left me wanting more. And the way they introduce the story of The Girl Who Fell Through The World is really smooth -- Oscar’s just lying there and reciting a quote he resonates with. It finally gives us some character depth and background for who Oscar was prior to Ozpin in a way that feels natural. (Also this is the first time in the show someone’s asked Oscar how he’s doing.)

Honorable mentions (aka ones I considered putting in the top 3): 

Pietro saying “I want the chance to watch you live your life” and Penny responding “But Dad... I am trying to.” He lets her go, and she falls with the final words to her father: “I love you.” 

Oscar meeting Salem, impersonating Oz and sassing the big bad while a foot away from her face, and Salem’s quiet intimidation before torturing him. Great characterization and really made the main villain feel like a threat. 

Ren and Yang’s argument in the tundra. Both said things I agreed with and things I disagreed with, and I love that! (Though I wish it’d been followed up on because Ren made some good points)

The Renora scene (you know the one) with the healthy, mature conversation about their relationship. And! The! Boop! 

JOYR+Emerald’s conversation in the tunnels. I’m a sucker for interpersonal conflicts that fit the characters, and I loved how Oscar emphasized that you aren’t obligated to forgive anyone, but it can be worth it to give them a chance to be better. Great nuance you rarely see in media. Plus him helping reintegrate Oz into the group and Oz’s sincere “Thank you, Oscar,” and Oscar’s little smile?? They’re getting along and it’s soft.

one of the arguments  I have always hated is people who go team jnprs set of partners ( which are m/f) partners are romantically interested in each other / hinted so that means the same must be planned  for team rwby ( besides the fact by that logic would mean one of team rwby has to die ( like weiss ( rubys partner)  or yang (who rubys sister team jnpr being ship teased does not in any way mean the same will or should happen with team rwby the lgbt rep argument is a bad argument they dont hve to do it any argument which goes but there arent many same sex pairings out there so what it doesnt mean they have to do it  if they do choose to do it  like say freezerburn that would be fine  as long as its well written  and had proper buildup and doesnt require throwing away the years of teasing and buildup for another ship ( what happened with blacksun they built it up for years with teasing and development  and mutual attraction since v1 while bb didnt get anything until arguably  v7 ( in v6 nothing was inherently romantic ( bb shippers have long had a tendency to take any positive interaction and try to claim its evidence like burning the candle scene where yang went to her friend and helped her it winking isnt evidence  ( friends can dance lets be honest the yang and blake dance they barely touched and little focus while blacksun dance got plenty of focus and close to each other (the only reason they took it as romantic is confirmation bias they saw what they wanted to see imagine a scenario where one a girl who has shown attraction to women alot and has been noted of it multiple times ( went to a guy friend and suggested for a dance I doubt anyone would look at that and claim its romantic

thats because the contexts and portrayal of the scenes are different

 ( its also why renora scene on plane is romantic  (  the blake and yang scene isnt inherently romantic    the contexts and the way the scenes are set up in say portrayal the music and focus etc  are different like the boop song playing in the background the plane scene showed complete focus on renora ( who have been teased since v1  

( the argument that well ren and nora  having a mutual enemy in  the grimm  somehow is evidence for bb since they both hada mutual enemy in adam taurus besides the fact that the nukleavee effected ren most of all ( so comparison to sun and blake would be better fit ) ( its irrelevant the attempt to use other ships moments or stuff that happened to them  ( like the fighting against a mutual enemy  ) to give bb some more stuff to stand on is annoying and I can guarantee that  if things were different like say sun and yangs genders were swapped they wouldnt be shipping bb or saying bb has to be canon which showcases the shallowness when  all it takes to ship a ship  or change their mind on whether they ship something or not is changing the  the genders involved ships or wanting a ship just for the sake of rep (because “ there arent many same sex ships) is shallow.  if you ship bb over blacksun and wanted it over blacksun you should have the same view if bb was ahet ship and blacksun wasa same sex ship ( if blake was aman or sun a chick  and bb was a het ship  I would still ship blacksun andbe annoyed at throwing away the years of buildup for blacksun ( to be frank I bet if say blacksun was a same sex ship and say bb a het ship they would never have thrown away the years of buildup  for blacksun andblacksun would have been the popular ship over bb  ( bb being popular from the start isnt saying there was actual evidence from the start)

since they are serious  ( I for fun had come up with crack theories on who jaune ends up with using meta like on possible inspiration like suggesting dragonslayer in my post comparing jaune to cloud and yang to tifa  just for fun I was never serious about those ) ) 

a same sex ship 

( imagine  this in another series there is a running gag with a two people one has obvious feelings for the other while the other views them as  a sibling (  and say there have been multiple occasions where either the pair get together , or its implied that they will get together eventually   or it stays unconcluded ( like in trails of cold steel that like persona 5  has multiple possible romantic interests  where in each of the games you have a final bonding events some being romantic ( and in cold steel 4 rean has a final romantic  bonding event with elise ( adoptive sister ) though the series pushes rean x alisa the most 

  ( but that doesnt mean they have to do it every time they could do something like  one having obvious feelings for another character who views them like a sibling/friend and gets over their feelings )

also its annoying how people make the but bb is a same sex ship  while black sun is a het ship argument   as if it makes it exempt from criticism or changes the fact that blacksun had years of buildup and its bad writing to do what they did with bb it doesnt matter that there arent that many canon same sex ships   ( besides the fact that representation isnt more important then good writing its not like bb not being canon means there isnt lgbt rep heck 

often the people who claim that someone would ship a ship if it was a het ship wouldnt have shipped the ship if it was het and the other was a same sex ship.

if all you are focused on is the genders involved of a ship or saying its rep its a shallow reason  even if say bb was the only piece of representation it wouldnt change the fact that people have the write to criticize it or say it shouldnt have happened that isnt homophobia (  besides the fact that many people who have shipped other same sex ships like narusasu from naruto or freezerburn ( to be frank my only otp was blacksun  I liked renora though I had multiple ships I liked like freezerburn , 

 the same thing applies to ships/shipping if the genders involved in the ship is more important then it being built up  or well written the ship will be bad writing

I have seen wasps slam anyone who criticizes bb as homophobic claiming that they only criticize bb because its a same sex ship when I cant tell you how many wasps got upset about blacksun being teased because it was a het ship  and claimed blacksun was being forced during v3 because it was being hinted at instead of bb going there  are plenty of possible same sex ships they could do but instead they went with a het ship which is the same idiocy that wasps try to accuse anti bb people of ( 

going but there arent that many same sex ships available wont mean that the same sex ships are exempt from citicism for being bad writing moves like throwing away the years of buildup  and teasing which pointed to blacksun to suddenly change directions from v7 onward ( when everything pointed to blacksun bb didnt display any roamtnic feelings for each other ( I cant tell you how many times I have seen bb shippers try to take any positive moment which showcases care and claim its evidence to the point of ignoring context like adam  cutting off yangs arm or trying to twist burning the candle to be a romantic coded going well yang winked at blake ( when it wasnt anything romantic 

or trying to make things about solely blake and yang like claiming sun turning blake towards her team is somehow him acting as a bb wingman ( which is just a bs attempt to get sun out of the way or basically going adam went I will destroy everything blake loves a statement including friends and family  then when yang her teammate showed up he went starting with her they tried to claim it was a romantic moment or proof of romantic love when no  it really doesnt not to mention 

Yes, Yang lost an arm for Blake. We get it. But there’s a reason behind that that is not ship related. Lets sit down for a moment and talk about it, maybe even removing your shipping goggles might help.

What reason would Sun have to lose a limb for Blake in V3E11? None. What reason would Yang have to lose a limb for Blake in V3E11? A lot. She realized that she can’t always rely on her Semblance and that she can’t jump into a battle with no fucks given like she did against Adam. Plus, this prevented her from following her teammates (most likely Ruby), thus inevitably dividing the team and allowing her to go through some serious character development while at home with Tai.

And yes, she would have done the same for the rest of her team. Do I need to remind you how the floor exploded when Weiss was knocked out during the fight against team FNKY? And that wasn’t even a serious battle, just a tournment.

Now, the scene was written around Blake and Yang, yes. And here again, the reasons are not ship related. One, I’ve already stated before, and it concerns Yang. The other one was for Blake to feel extremely guilty for her (supposedly) best friend and therefore run away to avoid seeing anyone get hurt again because of her (“No, not again, please…” - V4E9).

Do we really need to twist everything into proof for a romantic relationship? The original post was a fair critique and it had its reasons. Yang would literally give her life for every single one of her teammates - the reason why she popped up during that scene was because she was the only one that would make sense for Adam to fight and injure, other than probably being the teammate to which Blake feels close the most. Ruby? No, of course - she also needed to discover her silver eyes power so making her lose a limb/knock her out would have had no purpose. Weiss? No, besides she got taken away anyway by Jacques, and helped Ruby reach the tower in time to see Pyrrha get shot, so she had a purpose to be there. This only brings us to the conclusion that Yang had to be there for both plot and character development. Hurting Sun like that wouldn’t have made sense if not bring unnecessary drama. Besides, he got hurt anyway in V4, and made Blake realize that this will only keep happening if she goes on like she did.

korrasami was just forced into the last 2 minutes at the cost of breaking the narrative  when the narrative pointed ot korra single but with the possibility of makorra getting back together for they overcame the mutual flaws that led to makorra breaking up in b2 being overcame ( neither of them would have worked with anyone )   korra was ooc in the finale I loved korra for who she was  and to be frank korra and asamis personalities are incompatible ( korra would need to be ooc for it to work  meaning undesirable changes to korra would need to be made )  and korra and asami were barely friends they baarely interacted and asami showed she wouldnt be able to support korra the way she needs in remembrances etc which isnt something you can blame on censorship

.I dont care korrasami is a same sex ship it doesnt matter that there is lack of lgbt rep in form of canon same sex ships. good writing is more importan then making a political statement

Because it’s about framing and context.

Sun’s wink is accompanied by a slow-mo pan of his expression, followed by the camera focusing on Blake’s slack-jawed attention, along with a literal choir singing in the background while she stares at him. This is his introduction— to Blake, but more importantly, to the audience. This is the first moment we properly meet him, and it’s through this very particular gaze.

Yang’s wink is precipitated by her trying to convince Blake to come to the dance for her own mental and physical well-being. There’s no attention given to any other motivation on Yang’s part during the exchange, or what Blake’s reaction was following.

One of these has clear romantic intent. The other does not. If I were to present these two scenes to a random bystander and remove the names from the samples, and if I asked them to tell me which scene they thought was meant to be a romantic one, my guess is that they would go with the Sun and Blake scene. Because again, it’s about the framing of the scene, and the context of the situation the characters are in.

I say that Yang’s wink is dubious evidence at best, because I acknowledge that it can technically be read as romantic— but a.) it’s extremely covert, and only noticeable if you’re looking at it to find romantic evidence in the first place, and b.) I’m highly doubtful that was the writers’ intent in the first place.

( one of the complaints I have with bb shippers is how many times I have seen them try to use any positive moment for a ship and if blake and yang have anything that even has a similarity thy will try to use that ships moment as a platform for bb to stand off like the renora plane scene moment

Renora was flagrant from their introduction. And their moment was solely them. The BB plane scene was more a Team RWBY scene than anything romantic

If you look at the two scenes side by side, and note the subtle differences in the way the characters in each scene act, it’s obvious which one was meant as romantic, and which one was platonic. (It should be obvious at least lol)

( it comes off as them just trying to use the moments of another ship to stand off on like going because sun winked at blake and that scene was romantic or hint they claim that yang winking at blake was romantic evidence or renora got a romantic plane scene they claim that since yang and blake had a moment on the plane that scene must be romantic evidence and trying to argue if you disagree you just say that because its a w/w ship disregarding the obvious differences in context and how the scenes are portrayed etc)

like renora got the boop song playing , being alone nora doing the head lay on shoulders thing   ) ( while bb plane scene wasnt focused on  bb yang comforted blake by holding her hand which blake did when yangs hand shook  

her being upset about blake abandoning her ( when she has abandonment issues  due to her mom wasnt evidence for romance  and she did not sound like a spurned lover

Because they are so close, something these people want in THEIR relationships, they will interpret it that because it’s something they agree with and sympathize with. ie they take any moment between blake and yang and act like its evidence like the claim that yang was being flirty with blake in burning the candle when no . or claiming that yang sounded like a spurned lover when she has abandonment issues
