The second member of our supporting cast is, the cinnamon roll of the group:

Opal Crystie

Compared to the others, Opal tends to fade into the background, very intentionally. She's actually very kind and sweet if you get to know her, but she's very shy and really doesn't want to stand out. If dressing up as wallpaper was an option, she would take it without a thought. She doesn't want to bother anyone, just wants to live her life in peace.

She alludes to a character from the Hungarian Folk Tale: The Salt Princess. I recommend watching it on YouTube, but the story is the following:

A king asks his three daughters how much they love him. The youngest says she loves him "as much as people love salt". The King gets very upset and assumes this means his daughter doesn't love him, so he throws her out. She lives in the forest for a while, then one day she rans into a Prince, who's immediately smitten with her and quickly marries her. The live happily, then one day the Prince asks her what she was doing in the forest so she explains what happened. Then the Prince has an idea. He invites his father-in-law to dinner. The King arrives and they start eating, but the food tastes like garbage because it doesn't have any salt in it. Fed up, the King asks the Prince: "Does your cook have a grudge against salt or what?" And the Prince replies: "Well, I've heard that you don't like salt." So the King was like: "From who?" "Your daughter." And the Princess walks in. The King apologizes 'cause he realized he was an idiot and they live happily ever after.

Her weapons are two ribbons that are kinda like Aizawa's scarf in MHA. They can be filled with Dust and harden upon contact so they can also be used for slicing.

Hi!

First off, thank you! So much. Believe me when I tell you, it means a lot to hear it.

I haven't written in a long time. The lockdown was hard on me and there were some other fairly shitty things going down and my mental health took a nosedive. I know I'm not alone there, lots of folks are having a hard time right now. However, I went to Eurocon in the beginning of the month and spoke on a few panels and got to see a bunch of friends in person I've been missing thanks to the pandemic and it really gave me a boost in all aspects of my life.

I have two WIPs right now in the Wukoverse. One is the final chapter of the Advent 2021 collection (I know, I know!), whose prompt was Kissing and that was supposed to be a little ficlet with Jai and Poppy that turned into something much bigger and waaaaaaay too smutty to go there. It's been a year and half writing that thing! I would really like to finish it, because I personally love their dynamic.

The other is a chaptered story about Izumi's 80th birthday, where she steps down and Juziya is crowned Firelord. I actually have 4 chapters of it written. It takes place when Naoki is 16, Zhi is nearly 12, Meili is 9 and Sayuri is nearly 2. The family attends, along with Beifongs and Airbenders. Shenanigans happen, as they so often do in my stories. (Wu gets a new airship! Sayuri gets the nickname that will stick the rest of her life! Hemadri misbehaves as only a draconic teenager can! Baatar Jr just wants to go back home! Five year old Poppy is five year old Poppy! All of the Next Gen give a bending demonstration for the Firelord! Jewelry is distributed!) I really, really want to finish it because I am enjoying it, or at least in my own head.

As always, I have a few little ficlets bubbling away in there. (And a RWBY fic that desperately needs finishing as well as a very silly Xianxia mash-up crack fic I have been writing for a friend.)

I actually did some writing on the Jai and Poppy story yesterday and it is nearly done. If all goes well I will post within the next week. Fingers crossed! It would be really good to finally put that collection to rest.

I hope you are getting a nice summer break before heading back in the fall. :) Watch this space or subscribe on AO3 for the Jai and Poppy ficlet, at least!

So the next in the line is:

Leel (pronounced: Lél like in café) Veres

Leel is probably the strongest character introduced so far. In sheer strength he definitely is, he also has the brains to use it properly. Personality wise he is pretty chill. He's confident, but not arrogant, cool and collected. He usually seems kind of tired and detached, but gets more active when he's around friends.

He alludes to a character from an old Hungarian myth called Botond. The story in short:

In the middle ages Hungarians had the nasty habit of terrorizing Europe. They had a different fighting style than other countries and used previously unseen tactics so for a while, most European countries couldn't really do much against them. That is until the battle of Augsburg where the Hungarian got their ass handled to them rather harshly. The Hungarians had a deal with the Emperor of Byzantium that they won't attack the county if they pay them money. But after the humiliating defeat, the Emperor decided not to pay. The Hungarians of course, gathered their army and went to pay him visit. When they got their, they were in a bit of an awkward situation, because they couldn't take over the city. So to avoid the unnecessary bloodshed, the Emperor suggested to have a right between their strongest soldiers. They chose a gigantic hulking man, while the Hungarians chose a guy named Botond, who was the shortes guy in the army. (And old Hungarians, were already not very tall, so he was probably pretty damn short.) This caused people to burst out laughing, so the demonstrate his strength Botond picked up a mace and threw it at the get of the city so hard that it made a whole bit enough for a 5-years-old to fit through without any problem. This of course caused people to shit their pants and after a short fight, Botond threw the soldier to the ground so hard he died. The Emperor still refused to pay, so the Hungarians ravaged the land as revenge. The end.
