RWBY V9 theory
Given how much Ruby is still repressing her feelings and ignoring her own state in favor of moving forward, I suspect that next episode or episode 3 she will dismiss the search for Crescent Rose under the pretense of "we don't have time, let's go", probably opting to pick up and use whatever weapon she finds, only for it to not "fit" her, and despite the fact that this other weapon does not work for her, Ruby will insist on pushing on
Weapons in RWBY are often crafted by the user, they are representations of the wielder and are effectively a piece of them, a piece of their soul, particularly true for Ruby, she's a weapons geek, Crescent is her baby
So in essence, Ruby would be discarding a part of her soul in the name of victory (which also can seeve as a parallel to Ironwood, the disregard of the self in order to win, ignoring what this does to a person, essentially Ruby is in danger of being on the path Ironwood took)
And I suspect the blacksmith will come into play here somehow, more or less articulating the above to Ruby
Ruby can't just replace/discard/foegwt Crescent, it's a part of her, it is her
Tumblr media
(Couldn't resist)
Ruby will not be able to truly move forward until she reclaims Crescent, aka stops trying to push forward in spite of her issues, only when she takes time to see to her own needs, processes, reclaims Crescent, will she move forward

The curious cat in rwby had to have known that he could possess a human somehow. I think he might be the real reason Lewis was not in the story. I think he possessed one of the children and it resulted in only one of them escaping. Here’s the thing: I think Lewis is the one who actually escaped and Alyx is still in the Everafter. He wrote the story about Alyx instead as a way of mourning her and regret for leaving her behind. That’s why the cat wants a host that’s completely broken: he wants one that won’t fight him and has no one to fight for. I think Alyx lost trust in Jaune because she was somehow warned by the butterfly dude that one of her allies will betray her and keep her in the Everafter. That’s why she thought it best to poison Jaune. As for what happened to her? I think she’s the blacksmith… we’ll see how well this prediction ages in a week or two.

RWBY Vol.09 finale prediction:
I've been off so far but fuck it, one more try....
We won't actually see "Ascended Ruby".
We'll see the moment she chooses who to be, we'll get a cut to Team WBY (+Jaune?) getting roflstomped by Curious Neo and then taken out by a hit that completely blindsides them. There's gonna be a moment where everyone looks up at where Ruby obviously is.....And that's the Cliffhanger they'll leave us on.

ADDENDUM TO MY ‘NEO BECOMES RUBY’S BIG BAD WOLF THEORY
I ain’t throwing in the towel, I will somehow come off with a one right prediction from this volume out of...well, four at this point given my previous post BUT
Imagine if you will Curious Cat in Neo's body and possibly(?) with access to her memories might know about The Hound and while not knowing the full context knows that Ruby's terrified of that thing because fair, it's a shambling abomination even by Grimm standards and uses Neo's semblance to give himself a more bestial body to fight with since it's a feral, it probably isn't used to using weapons yet CC: "There's one question, right now, that I want answered before I leave this damned place...Who's afraid of the Big. BAD. WOLF?!"

It feels weird to say because it's BEEN doing this, but RWBY feels like it's no longer afraid to take a leap and get its hands dirty.
Like... V1-2 obviously felt like nothing had too much pivotal consequences, but cue v3 and it wasn't afraid to kill 3 redheads and burn shit down. Shit happened in v4-6 but it felt like it was too afraid to make HUGE changes. Major character death didn't really happen in those volumes, but it felt like it was teasing the idea here and there.
V7 felt like it was exploring new avenues, still slightly afraid, but more out of its shell than the previous volumes. And then things started happening again, to the point where it started to feel like v3 again. Eventually we get to v8 and suddenly they weren't afraid to kill another redhead and develop characters with more elbow grease.
And now we get to v9 and it's throwing the fucking kitchen sink at us. RWBY is no longer holding back. Big changes are being made all over the place. And I don't think we're coming back from this volume feeling the same. Just like what happened after v3.

I ship Bumblebee but I really hope their trials are done away from each other. I don't like the idea of them having to be attached at the hip for absolutely everything.
I want them to still be able to do things and develop on their own. It'd be really annoying for Blake to have given that speech to Nora in Vol.8 then end up being entirely defined by her relationship to Yang and vice verse.

Saw your ask about Curious Cat and it made me think about how some of the new characters we get introduced (Leo, Cordovin, Ace Ops, Curious Cat) or the old characters coming back (Ironwood) are villains.
I know this isn't a huge number and we get introduced with allies as well, but outside of Maria in Vol 6, characters like Pietro, Terra, Saphron and Happy Huntresses (ouside of Robyn) don't that much screentime as the characters who get revealed as villains later on. (Ok, this one isn't a really strong point as characters screentime has to do with their relevence to the plot)
I didn't mind with Leo being a enemy for the main characaters, because it showcased Salem's influance and how through fear she can back you into a corner, until there's nothing left for to do, outside of doing what she wants or dying.
But unlike with Ace Ops, Ironwood & Curious Cat, I don't feel frustration about him being a villain, because by the time we get to Vol 7-9, the main villains are pretty much established and introduced. And with that, I end up wanting to see more of them and how they will impact the plot.
So, why are we shoving characters like Ironwood, Ace Ops & Curious Cat into the villains territory, taking up the screentime, when we already have villains who could use more screentime to get fleshed out or maybe fleshed out a villain who is planned to have a redemption and join the good guys side???
I already got tired from that fight Cordovin had with our main ones and the last thing I needed in the later volumes was yet another interesting, new character be against Team RWBYJNR + Oscar & Qrow.
With the themes of trust and working together and the whole task GoL & GoD left Ozma with, you would assume they would be making allies, while also being careful so that another Leo incident wouldn't happen. But, nope. Nothing like that at all.
And if you think about, Volumes 6-9 follow pretty much the same formula Volume 5 had with it's new characters - character gets introduced and at some point are against our main characters.
I'm not saying it's a bad if it happens in the story, but this trope not only takes away the attention & a chance to get fleshed out from the main villains, but it's been present in this story for so long that it becomes dull and predictable.
If we ever get Volume 10, I might as well assume there will be a new character, who will later on betray the main ones.
Also with Curious Cat, it's kind of weird how Curious Cat is the main villain in this volume, while Neo, a villain since the early days has less than 15 minutes of screentime in Vol 9 and gets lesser punishment than Curious Cat.
Obviously every Volume needs its own selection of antagonists/villains for the heroes to face as they make their way towards Salem. So you're right, the problem is absolutely that RWBY keeps introducing new ones instead of utilizing what they already have, not that we have a large cast of antagonists at all. I know it's been said a million times before, but having the group face off against the Ace Ops and Ironwood while Salem and her henchmen are right there, just waiting around off screen, is really the epitome of this problem.
A sub-issue specific to RWBY is how continually adding in opponents also messes with the supposed importance of the shows allusions. Lionheart is based off a character who realizes he had courage all along. Ironwood is based off a character who realizes he had a heart all along. Curious is based off a character who is often annoying, baffling, and slightly creepy, but ultimately a neutral/benevolent party. Some of the others are a bit more complicated—Robyn becomes an ally even if it was A Choice to start things off with the group against the Robin Hood figure and, frankly, she doesn't do anything for the poor; RWBY at least tried to impart a moral message about friendship with the Ace Ops, similar to an Aesops fable, even if it crashed and burned—but the only allusion I'd say truly works is Cordovin, an antagonist based on a character who, when faced with a difficult situation (how do you feed this many kids?) responds with cruelty and violence ("whip" them and send them to bed without bread).
A story is a series of choices and each choice should have a reason attached, even if—like the early days of RWBY—the reason is just, "It looks awesome." However, more often than not I ask myself, "Why?" of RWBY. Why introduce more villains when you already have a whole collection that needs development? Why take all these good or neutral inspirations and make them Evil™ when so much else rides on playing your allusions straight? Why when you have problems like, "Our main girls aren't getting enough focus" is the response "So we'll toss in Jaune, and Neo, but Neo won't be the biggest threat that's the Jabberwalker, no wait never mind they're already dead, Neo is the threat, except when the Volume's villain is actually the Cat and the group's focus is on the handful of one-episode side-characters instead"?
When talking about the cast bloat I've seen a couple of people say, particularly in regards to Volume 9, that RWBY had to populate this new world, but no. They actually didn't. Not to this extent, anyway. As I've mentioned before, I've been working my way through Demon Slayer, a series that actually knows how to manage its characters. The structure of Protagonist + Two Secondary BFFs + One Hashira is more than enough for each arc, especially when the focus needs to remain on Tanjiro. So the story introduces one or two new characters that serve very specific purposes—usually providing the heroes with information about the latest demon mystery—and they get an equally small number of details that add a spark of personality... but they're left as mostly flat, background characters; providing depth to the new location without detracting from the main cast. The bulk of our time goes towards a) introducing the arc's villain, b) developing the Hashira, and c) developing the trio + Nezuko. At 11-ish episodes (roughly Volume 9's runtime) that's more than enough to juggle. If RWBY were writing it though each arc would have a slew of new characters facing off against the heroes while the main antagonist just kinda hangs around off-screen and the fandom keeps asking, "What happened to those other twenty beloved characters that were just left behind and forgotten?"
I'm not saying anime as a whole doesn't have a problem with character bloat, but at least most of the overwhelmingly large casts I've encountered maintain that structure, deliberately, of moving swiftly through a new collection of characters to show off their unique powers and personalities. RWBY tries to integrate the newcomers too deeply into an already full story, these newcomers frequently fill roles that should be going to established characters, and frankly.... the newcomers aren't very interesting. When I meet New Character #89164 in most anime I can at least look forward to that over-the-top personality and crazy cool ability; their very existence is entertaining. RWBY is like, "Here's a useless talking mouse we're going to kill." :/

I've calmed down, sorry for my previous negativity.
The in universe reason why the time skip can't be a year or more: Salem isn't going to wait that long.
The meta reason: i trust the writers. Yes, i know many people like to call them terrible writers, but every thing they've set up so far has been delivered.
The much maligned off screen Oscar moment in volume 6 was because they knew he would have his arc in vol 7 and 8. The lesser focus on team RWBY and Jaune in vol 8 was because the writers knew their moment was gonna come in volume 9.
They have the entire vision of the story. We have to wait to see it, but if I'm thinking of it rationally i have nothing to worry about. I might be worried, on an emotional level, that Oscar is just a character that's there to be hurt and do nothing like all the haters say he is, but on a rational level i know it isn't true so far and it won't be true in the future. They aren't going to set up his future arc and the problem with the whole merge deal and then resolve it onscreen. And also, there's no way the merge will actually happen.
It's gonna be hard to deal with the fndm be so sure about the offscreen merge the entire hiatus, however long that will be, but i take consolation in that the fndm's predictions have ALWAYS been wrong.
The offscreen merge is the new Atlas ball is the new Ruby will change her outfit in the finale of vol 9.
That being said, in the miniscule possibility they disappoint my expectations, I'll drop the show. Unless they, at the same time, give me reason to believe the damage will be undone soon.

RWBY Vol 9 Prediction
Okay I have been really liking the volume so far. It seem very apparent that Ruby is suffering because of the loss of Penny and at the same time is trying to keep some level of her usual self at least for the team.
At the end of episode 2 her speech seems like she is starting down the path of grief. I was wondering something though. It seems Weiss was unable to break Ruby’s shell. Yang and Blake are Buzzy. So who can help be a friend to Ruby when she needs one the most. Who else has last a very dear (red headed) friend?
Jaune
I think Jaune will be very important in helping Ruby process everything. He himself had to go through this with Pyrrha. Of course, he was the one who needed to end Pennys life, which at the end of the day was the best call given the horrible situation. This is war. This is what the early theme songs were talking about.
I don’t think they will push a romance especially this volume, maybe a spark at the end. I think Ruby and Jaune friendship has always been critical to RWBY. They were each others first friends at beacon and they have traveled across continents together. Now they both have lost someone precious to them. Perhaps, Jaune can help Ruby out of the darkness and into the light.

The tl;dr on Trigun Stampede is that it’s a good show, but*
This is the show that I watched on a whim bc I thought Vash was cute and it consumed my brain for the next three months. I do not regret that decision.
Heading into Trigun, I knew jackshit about it. I think the only character I could’ve recognised prior to this was 90s Vash (whose design I didn’t and still kind of don’t like!). I was too young for Adult Swim in the… very brief period of time that it was actually airing on Cartoon Network in Australia and I’m not sure if Trigun was even on it anyway, so I had absolutely no expectations walking in.
Obviously, the most notable thing about this show to a newcomer is the animation. It’s been interesting watching RWBY vol 9 and Stampede back to back, let’s say that much. It’s stellar. I think this is one of the prettiest shows I’ve watched in a very long time, and the combat animation is fluid, energetic and full of so much personality. I was still deciding how I felt about the show right up until episode 3 - Millions Knives’ debut - and as soon as I saw the attack on Jeneora I was hitting up my WatchPal to recommend it. I think you can definitely see where Studio Orange cut corners - some locations can feel very empty - but for what they actually want you to focus on, the show looks great.
Episode 4’s reveal of Wolfwood’s Punisher (and what it can do) lives in my head rent-free to this day, and quite frankly episode 12 is one of my favourite fight scenes in pretty much anything. A lot of love and attention to detail goes into these fights, and the choreography is fresh and exciting. Vash shooting at Nai resembling a 3rd-person shooter was so much fun. WatchPal was very patient with me constantly asking to pause, rewind, watch that scene again, pick out this or that detail. Sorry dude. Worth it to see how terribad a fighter Nai actually is, though, shit’s hilarious. I think that even if you don’t care for the plot, this show is worth watching just for the fight scenes and set pieces.
I think no one’s going to argue the plot is rushed, but what’s there is solid and interesting. This world is absolutely fascinating, and I had a lot of fun speculating on what was happening or what Nai’s goals were. The most fun I had was picking out the biblical themes (which I surprisingly know more of than I thought I did) and working out who was what was where and why, and I’ll be very curious to see where that all goes. I’m also an obnoxious Final Fantasy 7 purist, so I was obviously enjoying the heavy-handed pro-environmentalism themes and psychological horror elements. Nai was right until he was wrong. I’ll be… interested to see how this all resolves next season, because I’m not sure I’m meant to think Vash is right, exactly.
Vash is an enjoyable MC, though he’s kind of a woobie, huh? I watched Badlands Rumble in the middle of all this and was shocked at the difference in characterisation (incidentally, not a good movie!) He was definitely a lot goofier in eps 1 and 2, but things took a real turn in episode 3 that he never quite cheered up from so I’m hoping to see him in his natural habitat once things chill out. “He’s both the hero and the heroine” is a phrase that’s stuck with me since I learnt the screenwriter apparently said it, and it’s certainly made the way he’s written incredibly interesting to dissect symbolically.
Picking apart symbolism in this show is one of my favourite things to do with it.
Surprisingly, I think William Conrad is one of the more interesting characters in the show. I’m so fascinated by the logic behind everything he’s done. I want more of this dude, I thought Meryl was gonna murk him and was pleasantly surprised when she didn’t.
I like Wolfwood. I like narrative foils and homoerotic subtext. I think Wolfwood is potentially really interesting and didn’t get to shine in Stampede, but he’s got at least one whole season ahead of him and I am already predicting that Trimax is going to make me exceptionally mentally unwell about him. I can pick ‘em. I can sense it. I can smell blood in the water. I am also saying, right now and for posterity, that Wolfwood is going to die. He’s gonna die in Stampede, he’s gonna die in Maximum, he probably died in the 90s. Sorry. It’s gonna happen.
If this weren’t a 12 episode series and it would’ve been unsatisfying for it to happen here, I would’ve expected him to die redeeming himself after betraying Vash in July. Now we’re past his Judas phase, I’m wondering what the New Biblical Imagery he’s going to pick up to replace it will be bc as is, uh... dude by all means should probably just power walk really fast in the other direction and never be seen or heard from again.
Nai is a really fun and sympathetic villain right up until he's fun and an absolute monster, and I respect his deranged manner and willingness to wrangle that twincest subtext as close to actual text as he could possibly get it. I am SO curious how much of that was in the original because jesus christ. I felt bad for the guy and agree with him to a certain extent, but my feelings about Nai’s handling are going to have to wait until I see how Vash’s arc continues and what happens to Plants going forward. Vash doesn’t seem particularly motivated to change the status quo at this stage which is... interesting. We’ll see what happens.
I was very lukewarm on Meryl until eps 10-12. Now it’s the Zazie-Meryl Power Hour. As soon as I realised they were parallels my brain woke up. While I’m really ??? unsure about Wolfwood’s trajectory going forward, I am very excited for Meryl’s. It also helps she turned into a chain-smoking disaster senpai in the timeskip. She’s Mary Magdalene also. That’s really cool. I felt really smart when I figured out that really obvious connection, finally, in episode 11. (I know some bible but not that much bible.)
I… I don’t get points for figuring out which two biblical figures Vash is representative of. No one does. I do get points for noticing he yanked Wolfwood’s entire colour scheme when he started trying to kill Nai, though. That was cool. That fight was so fucking cool.
Trigun Stampede is a really fun show.
*But.
It is a show absolutely hamstrung by its episode count. When you’re dealing with either 12 or 24 episode seasons you’re inevitably going to run into problems when you’re not working with original material, and Stampede was having serious problems fitting in all the plot points that it needed to before the finale. This show’s pace is absolutely breakneck with absolutely no room to breathe, and in the end that means the main cast’s relationships suffer for it. I was very disappointed to find that I really liked Roberto in the episode that he died, and that was episode 10.
Episodes 10-12 leaves the implication of shenanigans and much stronger relationships than we got. That’s a real shame because the show roughly broke into Vash-Wolfwood, Vash-Nai and Meryl-Roberto with very little crossover - I know Vash/Meryl is a classic, but she ended up having more chemistry with Wolfwood, and any semblance of party dynamic evaporated once we got to Home. And speaking of Home, that lack of space between episodes and the necessity to explain Vash and Nai’s backstory ended up with us teleporting in and out, and the rest of the trip to July getting crammed off-screen. Integral scenes are missing - I had to consult a more knowledgeable coworker about the missing pieces of Wolfwood’s backstory so I could get his rough timeline (and age) actually explained to me, and I did find myself wanting to explore this world a lot more than we had time to do.
Like. Seriously. What the hell is up with Legato. Who are you. How are you doing that. Why are you here. Why is your hair blue.
The photo of the group in episode 12 in particular really makes me feel like there’s a lot we missed out on without a couple of breather episodes here and there. I think with the exception of Vash and Nai, whose relationship is quite interesting and intense, I enjoyed the concepts of the characters more than the actual execution. However, I’m also 100% sure that Nai and Vash was the Absolute Main Focus of this season, so, I can let this go if season 2 delivers.
Sorry Vashwood, you’re very fun in theory and I like you a lot, but we’re kind of pulling at threads here. Trimax is apparently gonna be an Experience though.
I try to take the circumstances of a work’s creation into account when I talk about it, and between a 12 or 24 episode series I understand why Studio Orange chose 12, but Stampede really needed 15 or 16 to shine with the narrative it wanted to tell. I also understand why Stampede chose to seed future plot points that went absolutely nowhere this season - Wolfwood’s beef with Livio, Legato and Elendira being prime examples (christ this guy is gonna be busy in season 2), and the trip Home specifically after the Sand Steamer feels a bit pointless at this stage - but I can’t help but wonder if that time would have been better spent elsewhere.
Although, a lot of fans couldn’t even deal with Milly’s absence even though it took about 5 seconds for me, someone who confused Trigun with Cowboy Bebop until quite recently, to work out what Meryl’s rough character arc was and why Milly was absent (but pretty clearly coming back later in very predictable way), so maybe Studio Orange was being wise by assuring, uh, certain fans they hadn’t forgotten or maliciously chosen to delete these characters.
I’ve heard Trigun wasn’t as popular in Japan as it was in the West, so maybe that 12 episode pick was playing it safe, but since S2 has been greenlit and Stampede seems to have been a pretty big success, hopefully Orange can spring for 24 episodes this time and make this show really shine.
Anyway, I’m gonna read the manga now.

Almost Live Blogging RWBY Vol. 9
Tumblr media
Out of all the directions Volume 9 could have gone, I would have predicted none of it. Well, except the time dilation. Just in the wrong direction, I guess. So partial credit? But what did I think of this latest volume?
In my opinion, this volume is easily the best RWBY has ever been. Well worth the wait. The writing was consistently good to great. The art direction was terrific. The character beats were spot on. And the humor was…okay. (A big improvement.)
I suppose I should stop being coy. OH MY GOD! CANON BUMBLEBY! THEY SAID THE THING! THEY KISSED! HOLY CRAP! HOLY CRAP! HOLY CRAP! CUE THE OFFICE MEME! OH MY GOD, IT’S HAPPENING! EVERYBODY STAY CALM!
I never, ever thought in a million years that they would actually have the stones to pull that trigger. Well credit where credit’s due. Honestly? I kind of feel like the dog who finally caught the car. I’ve got canon Bumbleby, but what do I do with it? I was planning on writing a short fic that takes place during Volume 9 where Yang and Blake confess. Now…I don’t have to? I was not prepared for this.
It actually took me about three times as long as that scene’s runtime to watch it. I kept having to pause and walk away because I saw what they were doing, and I didn’t believe it. I was trying to emotionally prepare for coming so close and being denied. In fact, allow me to reenact (in prose form) the very beginning of that scene for me.
Yang: “But how do we take the next step?”
Me: *eyes narrow*
Me: “No…. No way…. Impossible….”
Me: *pauses and walks away for ten minutes*
Now there’s so much else to talk about. I really, really liked Ruby’s character arc in this volume. I loved the flash back to Summer Rose. I like what they did with Jaune. I liked the cute, polite paper people desperately scheming to embrace the sweet release of death. But forget all that. I want to talk about Neo!
Neo is RWBY’s best character, easily. I’m pretty sure this Volume was her swan song, but I can’t bring myself to be disappointed. Nothing that good can last forever. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Things need to end before they’re milked to death and ruined, or the good idea trough runs dry. (See Star Wars/Trek. Please pick whichever one resonates with you more.)
Now before I saw Volume 9 I would’ve said that them having Neo speak would’ve been a mistake. Oh how wrong I was. Neo speaking through a Greek choir of departed friends? Glorious. Absolutely glorious. And then the cat. Oh the cat. The cat made one, fatal mistake. He messed with Neo. You never, ever mess with Neo. That’s how you get murdered. Instantly and horribly. When it happened I literally jumped up from my seat and shouted something to the effect of, “YOU F!@#ED WITH NEO, CAT! NOW YOU’RE DEAD!” Not language I typically use, by the way.
And Neo’s send off. Only Neo can stop Neo. And even that was an example of how good a character she is. Without saying a word, she said to Ruby, “Don’t forget that I thoroughly beat you.” Goodbye, Neo. Goodbye. You were the flame that burned twice as bright. As beautiful as you were deadly.
(Yes I know that a new Neo…uh…a neo Neo? Will likely appear in a future volume, but while she might be awesome, she won’t be the same. You just can’t top skipping through a field of death without a care in the world with the Relic she stole from Salem because she knows she’s going to get away with it.)
So yes. More RWBY please. Now. I know there’s been a lot of drama surrounding Rooster Teeth recently. I don’t know what any of it is nor do I care to because that’s not how I engage with media. So I guess I’ll have to say the little prayer I always say when a new RWBY volume comes out. Please oh please don’t mess this up.
Oh, and I’m pretty sure Team RWBY+J has met God? So…have fun with that theological can of worms, kids.

I'm betting the Penny Sword is gonna be like the Finnsword thing from Adventure Time
That and/or the sword will be a sort of reincarnation of Penny, not quite the same, different in some ways (that way her death still has impact), bit it is her
Oh, and she'll probably have the ability to transform between sword and human forms, Penny will become an equipable ally

Since the Vol 9 finale is in less than 24 hours i have some last minute finale predictions:
Ruby changes her last name to Xaio-Long
Red like roses in some form, part 3, remix, ill take what i can get
Little gets to go back to remnant with RWBY+J
Ruby gets to go sicko mode on something
Ruby gets a brand new weapon
Ruby wears a black cloak
Honestly Ruby just gets a whole new wardrobe change she deserves it
but like its an edgy wardrobe change, she deserves it
we dont see the Vacuo crew
Jaune gets his age reverted by ascension but he gets to keep the grey in his hair
Roman Torchwick again, but fighting the cat with WBY+J and maybe Ruby
Neo ascension
Cat ascension
Neo gets control of her body for a few moments

If you finished rwby volume 8, do you have any predictions for vol 9? I’ve heard many people say it might be about the characters facing their inner struggles etc
I have and I'm still better about Penny.
I don't really have any predictions for Vol.09, we always make predictions and end up being a mile off and everything about The Everafter is such a big paradigm shift that we don't have enough data to make theories.
Although I do definitely think that we're gonna see the other characters in Vacuo and Qrow/Robin/The Ace Ops.... Possibly meeting up with Ghira & Kali and co, although it will definitely be much less prominent than the main plot of Team RWBY, Jaune and Neo.

Okay since so far I’m 0-2 on predicting vollume 9 but thankfully didn’t post about my predictions for fear of being clowned on let’s see if somehow posting this one will make it come true...unlikely as all hell but eh
I remember wayyyyyy back in the day when we all thought Roman was going to be the Big Bad Wolf to Ruby’s Little Red Riding Hood. Obviously, like a certain Atlesian ship that crashed and burned
Then years later we got her actual Big Bad Wolf in the...did that horrific chimera of grimm goo and silver eyed person have a name? I forget. But while the reveal of what was under the goo was a shock it kinda lacked pathos, especially since it was killed by Willow and Whitely
...But Neo, a person with the ability to make fragile constructs of reality and who has seemingly gotten a power boost AND has had a massive chip on her shoulder about Ruby to the point that as she was falling into the Ever After she was more focused on making Ruby suffer while trying to kill her than her own safety is there.
While she doesn’t know the full context, she knows....was it The Hound? I think it was-The Hound exists and was fucking terrifying even by Grimm standards
And granted I don’t know the full context about her seemingly teaming up with the Jabberwalker (waiting for the full vollume to come out before I binge watch while not minding spoilers because after vollume 7 of RWBY I am not putting myself in a state where waiting a week for an episode only to wind up even more hollow again) but my main point IS
What if Neo superimposes over the Jabberwalker the image of The Hound with the very chatty head of Roman. A ferrocious, bestial WOLF like form since it’d scan easier over the body of the Jabberwalker with the added bonus of Neo getting catharsis watching her partner kill one of the people she considers ruining her life.
...but also giving Ruby the catharsis of finally standing up to a version of Roman, a version of the Hound AND giving a pay off the ending of the story she’s based on
The Big Bad Wolf is killed by a Hunter.
Ruby finally choses to become a hunter again, refusing to give up
