What fans say:
Belle:
It's a beautiful modern retelling of beauty and the beast using the internet and tells a story about overcoming grief and helping others as well. The animation is GORGEOUS and the songs in both English and Japanese are just as if not more beautiful.
101 Dalmatians:
The art is amazing, the dogs are adorable, the story is engaging and suspenseful, and the Roger-Anita household is such a happy and supportive one. The way they could both bring along their childhood nannies to look after them because one said she would be their cook and the other said she would be their butler -- and began dressing like one -- was always a favourite detail of mine, and of course, a husband who is willing to buy you a big new house in the country if your current flat isn't big enough for all the dogs you want to keep is prime relationship goals. "Cruella de Vil" is a good song too.

Bell's Songs
"U" is a tribute to U, a celebration to the ability to start anew -in a way- and connect with so many people.
"Gales of Song" was written and sang for her mother, her loss and Suzu's inability to move on.
"Lend Me Your Voice" is a love song, asking for connection and trust between Belle and Dragon - Suzu and Kei.
"A Million Miles Away" is a song for return and reconnection, of faith and rebirth, of finding strength and realizing you already had it inside you.

just watched that anime Belle movie... gorgeous graphics
incoherent plot, like my disbelief would not stay suspended because they stretched it in too many different places:
1) there's tech that can hijack your senses with earbuds into VR but everything else about the world is the same?
2) the beginning makes it seem like people can only log in while sleeping, but by the end they're fully logged in and still running around irl????
2) WHY was she so fixated on the beast and his identity from the very beginning? HOW DID SHE TRACK HIM DOWN IN A DIGITAL WORLD WITH 5 BILLION PEOPLE? also it's NEVER explained how in the world the game was coded to allow an AS to damage the core data of other users, when the moderators couldn't even look his account registration up??
3) the themes are incoherent. truly baffling. maybe it's cultural differences but like. the police violence theme is poorly executed and unresolved, as is the fucking child abuse plotline that comes out of nowhere???? I thought this movie was about emotional damage??????
sidebar: I do actually approve the fanfic-esque approach to only taking what they need from the canon (Disney) story of beauty & the beast with the aesthetics of the roses/outfits and the little helpers in the castle
4) the Voices don't believe in police but gave Moderators that power to unveil people but they can't... see user account info as admins????
5) said moderators could find the "suburb" where the beast's castle was, well enough to harass Belle for being there, but not the actual location?
6) AND SPEAKING OF, how does a digital world have slums????? how is data breakdown not quarantined to prevent like, major errors WITH PEOPLE'S BRAINWAVES?
but here's the one I really don't believe:
7) Suzu goes to a huge school and is in a group chat with 200 of her classmates??? but only the girls??? no one is worried about shinobu finding out about them being weird as fuck about him being friends with Suzu????? TWO HUNDRED?!?!?
I will say the visuals were great tho. excellent animation, really enjoyed the scene where the tactical game overlay was used to show the rumor mill. I'm only just now realizing that maybe Suzu was in a bunch of smaller groups chats but the way they had the phone screen showing all the message bubbles in one thread still makes that unlikely
*after looking at the wiki it is clarified that the "justices" were vigilantes not sanctioned cops (but... "woooow look at all his sponsors" is just so on the nose, and they didn't get shut down by the Voices either, so I'm???)
too many threads, not enough knots holding it all together
also why was the only other technological difference that YouTube had 2 way video calling 😭

FR MerMay 2022, jour 22 : Monde virtuel :
Je me sentais obligée de représenter notre Belle pour ce jour-ci. Voilà un mois que je dois composer avec le deuil, et les paroles de Belles n’ont jamais autant résonné en moi

I had to represent our Belle for this day. I have been dealing with grieving for a month now and Belle’s musics have never been so familiar

A moment to let it sink in, that Suzu liked Kei for who he really was deep down, not what he portrayed, or what he looked like, and had absolutely no problem to sing him a love song she wrote for him, never mind they hadn't ever met irl or actually interacted all that much -at least movie-screentime-wise- and if he had been willing, kiss him as well. And I am still not over the fact.
