So many thoughts on the fabulous Barbie film, but especially on how anyone who thinks it’s “hateful towards men” clearly isn’t getting the message.
SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
Tumblr media
[Credit for both gifs goes to their makers!!]
I mean... Ken’s arc is secondary to Barbie’s, and rightly so. This is her film, and her message deserves to be the main takeaway.
That being said, I just find it really sad that the people who could’ve definitely used the point of Ken’s arc just let it go right over their heads. Maybe it’s because they aren’t great at reading subtext, or because they just balk at anything presented as feminist, I don’t know.
Because to me, Ken’s arc is about as far from “hateful towards men” as you can get. It’s a multi-layered depiction of how restrictive, outdated views of masculinity can hold men back and make them susceptible to harmful ideologies that promise easy solutions for all their problems but only make those problems worse and hurt others around them.
The first layer is an allegory for real men don’t show their feelings. In the movie, this is represented by Ken’s need to look tough and cool all the time, and to keep his insecurities and sadness bottled up. Barbieland is a utopia where being happy is a social norm, and the main Barbie also starts to struggle with that. The difference is that she eventually tells her friends, and they all support her. Ken just puts pressure on himself not to look weak - in front of Barbie, or in front of the other Kens.
Which brings us to the second level: a competitive and inherently hostile view of the other Kens, aka. toxic male relationships. Some of them are friends, and all of them work together for a while to build the Patriarchy, but they don’t actually bond for real. Even their boys’ nights are mainly about getting back at the Barbies for all their girls’ nights (which really were about bonding). When push comes to shove, the Kens still see each other as competition, which is one of the reasons why the Barbies are able to play them against each other.
Another reason is the third layer: the idea that Ken only has value if Barbie loves and admires him. It starts out as unrequited love that makes you feel sorry for him...until he turns bitter. He basically starts on the path that could lead him down the incel/mra rabbit hole and into a mindset where Barbie owes him love and admiration and the relationship he wants in exchange for his devotion to her. He decides that everything would be better if Barbies were subservient to Kens, but of course that’s not true. None of the Barbies’ newfound admiration for their Kens is real, and his own Barbie still rejects him.
Tumblr media
All this is of course underpinned by the final layer, which is Ken’s lack of self-respect and sense of purpose. He’s got a pointless job, he’s not particularly qualified for anything, and he just feels kind of lost in Barbieland - a society run by successful Barbies who are living up to their full potential. That’s why he gets so caught up in the idea of the Patriarchy, which is supposed to make him successful, get others to respect him, and give him a sense of purpose. (This can be generalised to all kinds of harmful ideologies in the real world, e.g. the alt-right movement.)
However, the success he achieves is superficial and not based on any real passion; he even admits that he wasn’t happy in his new position and already lost interest in the ideology. The (forced) respect of others does feel good for a while, but it only goes so far. At heart, the whole thing is still mostly about his feelings of inferiority and unrequited love for Barbie, and instituting this harmful new system did not resolve those for him.
So what does? In essence, breaking out of all these harmful patterns and internalising the idea that he is enough.
He ends up reflecting on his feelings, finally puts them to words (or rather, song and dance), and manages to connect with the other Kens through those feelings. He even cries in relief and acknowledges that it doesn’t make him weak. He and Barbie finally have a proper talk, he lets go of their (non-)relationship, and he listens when she says he needs to figure out his real self. He starts to see himself not through his job, his girlfriend, or even his competition with the other Kens, but as just Ken, who is enough.
I honestly can’t think of a less hateful message to send men and boys.

Buddie & Chenford: Interesting Similarities, Pure Coincidence, Or Smart Marketing?
Hello friends!! I’ve been thinking a lot about these two pairings and the actors that play these characters lately. And I just keep thinking about similarities I’ve noticed both with the actors and the characters. So I went on a deep dive and uncovered some things that were eye opening and eyebrow rising. Again these are all things I’ve just found to be suspiciously similar and made me really side eye everything that we’ve seen and everything that’s yet to come. I’m simply sharing my findings and once again leaving you to come to your own conclusions. I’m not trying to force any specific opinion onto anyone, simply sharing some things I found to be very similar and suspicious. These are my thoughts and I’m just sharing them. Take what you will from this please.
In this post I will be discussing a lot about certain people so I wanted to make a quick introduction to them:
Eric Winter who plays Tim Bradford
Melissa O’Neil who plays Lucy Chen
Oliver Stark who plays Evan Buckley
Ryan Guzman who plays Eddie Diaz
Alexi Hawley, The Rookie’s show runner
Tim Minear, 9-1-1’s show runner
The similarities I’ve uncovered far surpass what we’ve seen of the characters on the show. There have been some parallels with Chenford and Buddie and sure I will discuss that briefly. But I’m mainly going to focus on the behaviors of the actors portraying them.
The one obvious difference as of right now between the two pairings is that Chenford is currently an established couple, whereas Buddie is still considered to be platonic.
But before Chenford became a thing, they had a huge fan base who would ship the two characters heavily because of their natural chemistry on and off the screen. Early on, the characters started as mentor/mentee type where Bradford was Chen’s Sargent and partner while she was a rookie in the LAPD. Kind of like Buck and Eddie but only in the sense where they’re partners at work even though Eddie was technically a probie his first year!
Alexi gave many interviews in the beginning how he didn’t think there’d ever be a time they’d persue a romantic relationship between those two characters regardless of the magic they brought onto the show. He did emphasize that they had a specific dynamic and that it’s mostly come from the actors chemistry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now why do I mention this? Because Tim has been very back and forth about Buddie. In the beginning he too would talk about their chemistry and dynamic but wouldn’t confirm or deny if things would become romantic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Alexi and Tim had been asked questions on whether or not Chenford and Buddie would become anything more. And in the earlier years, both showrunners would stick to explaining how the chemistry these four had was very palpable and something they hadn’t foreseen. And that neither showrunner would stop writing specific scripts to prevent that intimacy and chemistry from flourishing.
Recently though, both their tones have changed. Both Alexi and Tim have made it known that they want to keep exploring the dynamic/relationship the characters have on the show.
Alexi:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim:
Tumblr media
In an interview during season 3, Oliver mentioned how Tim doesn’t really anticipate how certain scenes he writes will come into fruition because of the chemistry between Ryan and Oliver.
Tumblr media
So basically even though neither relationship was originally in the plans, the showrunners couldn’t account for the beautiful natural chemistry between their actors. And once the stories started rolling out, they couldn’t help that their viewers started seeing a deeper bond then what was intended.
Joint Press Tours
As we know, Oliver and Ryan have been going on this press tour together to promote this season of 9-1-1. And a lot of their interviews really hone in on the Buddie relationship. Well Eric and Melissa also went on a press tour before the season their characters got together romantically. It’s interesting because they went on similar talk shows as Ryan and Oliver and even got asked similar questions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One important thing to mention is the love for the fans all four of these actors have. They’re always mentioning their respective fan base who without our love and support, wouldn’t have such a lovely coupling on a show so many people watch. Here’s a little video of all four of them mentioning their fans and how without us they wouldn’t be able to do what they do.
This next thing is probably nothing but I just found it a little interesting because both of those relationships had an article dedicated to their respective timelines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I don’t see articles such as this for any other friendship on either show. Nor have I seen one recently for any of the established couples. But there was a deliberate reason they created one for Buck and Eddie. And that happened to be something they also did with Tim and Lucy when they became a couple. So I just find this interesting and somewhat suspicious.
The Actors Thoughts Matter Too
Throughout the years, all four actors have been asked endlessly about their thoughts on their characters’ relationships. And I would say they’ve always somewhat varied. Like in the beginning, it’s really blatantly obvious that all four actors were adamant about what a great friendship it was and it was pretty much mostly platonic. But all four of them were also on board should things take a romantic turn. Instead of posting pictures, I’m just going to insert a few quotes from each of them.
Eric Winter: “Whether it's deeper friendship or whether it's going to be love, whatever the case is, she's not his typical rookie.” In the same article he mentioned how he “was on board with it” should it go in the romantic direction. (x)
Melissa O’Neil: “At that point, [the chatter] was really happening online, and we thought for sure that maybe there was subtext…We were asking [Hawley]: 'Is this a true confession that she's masking as a thing?' And he goes, 'No, it's not. This is a joke.' So I don't know when it clicked. But I was surprised because even at that point, it was not a thing." (x)
Ryan Guzman: “If the fans want to go there with it, it’s cool. I mean, we see all the memes, we see all the things that are posted on Instagram and you know I’m all for it.” (x)
Oliver Stark: “If somebody watches the show and that is what they read into it then I’m all for it. I’m so yes so wherever it goes I’m happy to go with it.” (x)
It’s always a good thing for any ship that the actors portraying them are on board and can see the potential of a romance brewing. It also stems from having that raw natural chemistry with your on screen partner which both pairs have. It makes it easier to come off on screen and that’s what grabs the audience’s interest.
I mean there’s a lot more articles and a simple Google search can bring you to them. I personally think this is already long enough but we all pretty much know that the actors love these characters and would be alright with them being in romantic relationships. We’ve already gotten Chenford and with the similarities we’ve seen and may continue to see, I think Buddie is on the same track to becoming canon too. Especially considering they’re now on the same network and have similar publicity strategies being implemented.
Buddie & Chenford Parallels:
The final thing I’m going to bring up will be the similar storylines or scenes we’ve gotten on both shows that heavily parallel one another. If Buddie, a non canon pairing is mirroring a couple that also started off as partners and are now a romantic couple, then it’s very reasonable to think they’ll become romantic too.
Instead of actually posting gifs, I’m going to attach beautifully created gifsets that already show all four characters paralleling one another.
Here’s a lovely gifset by @lover-of-mine that’s a bit angsty.
Here’s another one where one tells the other they’re newly single haha. Made by @livelovecaliforniadreams
A shooting parallel made by @halsteadsass 😭
And if you just need a GREAT summary of every other moment that’s heavily paralleled, then it’s all here by the lovely @livelovecaliforniadreams!!!
One last thing to keep in mind is that yes Eric and Melissa really started promoting season 5 before it aired. And that was ultimately the season they pretty much got together. The same season in which both of their characters were actually dating other people. And I made a little comparison of stills that were similar to a current possible storyline we would get with Buddie. Not necessarily saying Eddie and Tommy are going to be a thing. But the whole jealousy aspect is very similar in these pictures lol.
Tumblr media
Anyways if you’ve taken the time to fully get to the end, thank you so much! Again this is just something that’s been driving me wild because I’m seeing too many similarities and I wanted it all put together. I will reference where I gathered my info down here. If you have any questions, my ask box is always open 💜

Three Guys On A Sofa: Try Guys, Watcher, Values, and Cognitive Dissonance
Listen, as someone who has no real emotional investment in Watcher but all the emotional investment in the last "three guys on the sofa" internet scandal (Try Guys were MY long-standing Buzzfeed emotional support dude-group), what has kind of amazed me is the difference in reaction to the two scandals.
Watcher's video was built up for a week as a positive announcement but immediately cratered their reputation, revealed the cracks in their handling of business/lack of forethought in ALL THREE FOUNDERS, and, thanks to them not responding quickly to fan reactions, is now cementing their negative perception in a way they might never recover from.
On the other hand, the Try Guys' video was possibly one of the best apology videos/reactions to scandal I've ever seen. It seemed like a quick response to the breaking scandal but was well-thought out (and as was discussed in podcasts, had been extensively thought-out/planned for at least a month, with all three of the remaining Try Guys heavily invested in the investigation/handling of the problem), reinforced audience sympathies because the problem had been dealt with, and most importantly reinforced the idea that the audience's faith in the remaining Try Guys was warranted.
The Watcher video revealed the massive gap between the ideals that the Watcher Guys (all three of them) had purported to hold for years (authenticity, "eat the rich," a strong personal/parasocial connection to their audience) and what was being executed in practice, while the Try Guys' video showed that the ideals that Keith, Eugene, and Zach had held (non-toxic masculinity, respect for women, healthy working environments, a strong passion/belief in supporting their staff) still seemed as genuine as can be.
TLDR; I think that the Try Guys were able to recover from the Ned of it all in a way that Watcher won't be able to because while their apology video showed quick action and reinforced/proved that they stood by the same values they'd always had, Watcher's video and fan response has only shown that they don't seem to hold the values THEY preach, fundamentally betraying their audience.

Does anyone else find it a little annoying how the showrunners make the Greens constantly wear the color green??? I don’t remember that ever happening in the book.
Alicent wore green at her wedding anniversary, whereas Rhaenyra wore a black and red dress, which is how the team colors were chosen. Team Black for Rhaenyra (initially called the party of the Princess), Team Green for Alicent (initially called the Queen’s party).
The actual war has always been between Rhaenyra and Alicent (Aegon was just the Greens’ poster boy), hence why it can hardly be called a war between two Targaryen factions. It’s a war between House Targaryen and House Hightower.
Alicent’s children constantly wearing green could be deemed as insulting and treasonous to the Crown. Because they claim to be Targaryens, and yet they wear the war color of House Hightower.
Which pretty much proves how dumb these showrunners actually are. They are constantly trying to emphasize that Alicent’s kids are half Hightower, by making them wear green and then from the looks of things in the trailer, they even changed the Greens’ banner from gold on black to gold on green. Oh, and they added the Hightower symbol to the banner as well (which never happened in the book. It was Rhaenyra who had woven the Arryn symbol of her mother on her own banner).
And now Ryan’s trying to sell the idea that it’s a Targaryen vs Targaryen war? Lol. No way. This has Targaryen vs Hightower written all over it.
True civil wars within House Targaryen were the Blackfyre Rebellions, like the war between Daeron II and Daemon Blackfyre.

Ok but I love Barbie’s opening scene because the 2001 homage could’ve so easily been a shallow gag where the whole joke is “get the reference?” but instead it’s priming you for how completely literal the Barbie-as-Monolith idea is to the movie’s themes and conflict.
Tumblr media
Seeing the movie I was a little caught off guard by just how unreal the “real world” was both in and out of how people specifically reacted to Barbie’s presence, but in retrospect the opening counts on an understanding of 2001 to immediately say
“This isn’t just an alt universe where Barbieland exists adjacent to reality, but one where Barbie is without exaggeration a primordial cosmic force the discovery of which fundamentally altered how human beings think and evolve.”
Tumblr media
The Monolith as a visual metaphor for Barbie’s impact on the world is already a clever little bit of observational comedy, but taking the scene beyond metaphor and into the literal text of the film, to where Barbie’s presence as this reality-shaping object of import is just taken as a given by everyone in the film, that’s freakin genius.
It’s rare to see such an overt reference to another piece of media end up being such a smart and pivotal bit of actual storytelling, and its fascinating to see the film explore “what if humanity’s relationship to the Monolith was reciprocal and the Monolith was actually a Person?”

Buck & Eddie: Can share friendship and be in a relationship too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Friendships and romantic relationships do coexist.
In their recent interviews, OS and RG kept reiterating how Buck and Eddie have a deep and meaningful friendship but for whatever reason, there are some people who keep acting like two people can't be friends and lovers at the same time. It's unclear why but for them at least, this reasoning seems to only pertain to Buck and Eddie.
Aren't two people being friends at the very CORE of every great romantic relationship?
That's how Madney began and Buck said it himself in 2x8 during Maddie's and Chimney's BuffFriday. He said, "You guys are dating each other!", then Maddie and Chimney started explaining they were just friends who like to hang out but Buck explained it even further.
"You're always talking and texting each other. You sing karaoke together. You do BuffFridays. You finish each other's sentences. Guys come on... you're a couple!"
Sound familiar?
It should because isn't that what Buck and Eddie have been doing for five years?
Tumblr media
They hangout, flirt and make out.
Tumblr media
They eat pizza together and play video games with their son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They drink beers and talk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They cook for their family.
Tumblr media
They get dressed up and go on dates to play poker.
They've been doing it for YEARS!
The point is people in romantic relationships should be friends too because if they aren't then... it's certainly possible their relationship won't last long. Also, who wants to be romantically connected with someone they can't be friends with?

Okay, I said I was gonna make a post about the way I believe Ryan is playing Eddie as in love with Buck because of the way he makes certain choices about Eddie regarding Buck that are similar to the ones he made about Eddie regarding Shannon, and this is it.
The whole thing started with the way Eddie looks away from things that make him experience intense feelings, but mostly when he doesn't like what he's feeling in a sense. He looks away from Shannon all of the time, when they're fighting, before she goes to the school, and in the firehouse, when she says she wants a divorce.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's avoiding his parents eyes when they are trying to take Christopher, he looks away from Frank all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He can't look Buck in the eye when Buck is trying to tell him that Chris got lost in the tsunami, he looks away from Ana because he knows he's hurting her (he does force himself to watch Shannon as she dies but I feel like that's a lot more about his loyalty/instinct to protect because that moment is fully about her because she's dying).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's a consistent trait Ryan gave Eddie, he looks away, I think it even makes sense with the way Eddie runs away from stuff. And that makes moments when he's avoiding eye contact with Buck that much more interesting.
Because take 3a for example, buddie has quite a few emotional conversations, but during those, Eddie is mostly always staring Buck down or actively trying to force Buck to look at him (except when it comes to the fight club but the fight club is a lot more about shame in my opinion).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But when you look at the will reveal for instance, Eddie is consistently forcing himself to look back at Buck. His instinct seems to be to keep looking forward, and he needs to remember to look at Buck from time to time. (I'm not gonna put the whole scene here, but go rewatch and pay attention to where Eddie is looking)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And sure, the way Eddie simply refuses to look at anything relating to Buck's death can be seen as just "my best friend died" because any reasonable person would have an extreme reaction to watching their best friend die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, I don't see how that applies in the cemetery. Because Buck says "she sees me" and Eddie gives him that disbelief look and then just, stops looking. Honestly, there's no reason for that conversation not to involve them looking at each other, the point that's made that they are looking straight ahead is very interesting on its own but, like, when you add the fact that Eddie looks away from shit he doesn't want to feel/wants to run away from, that conversation has a whole other fun layer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even more with the way that Buck is lowkey looking like a kid tugging on your sleeve to get your attention and Eddie just refuses to look at him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But my point really comes to the fact that these are all the same reaction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And how do you explain the decision to make Eddie react the same way he does when Shannon is asking him to make a decision about them and then when she makes the decision herself by asking for a divorce when he thinks Buck has made a decision about them so he needs to back off?
That's his breakup face, plain and simple.
And it's not a reaction Eddie has to Shannon once, is something that is consistent with the way we see Eddie reacting to Shannon, and I personally think its a lot of the way it makes us never feel sure about the relationship, because Eddie is consistently presented to us when it comes to this as "I love her but I'm not sure about having her around". And these are his reactions to moments where Shannon makes him question where they stand. Moments where he's questioning if he actually understands where their relationship is.
You can't have Eddie question the nature of his relationship with Buck just because Buck has a crush and tell me that Eddie is experiencing purely platonic feelings.
And these are acting choices, and Ryan is very consistent about the way Eddie reacts to stuff, so the fact that he is wearing his "Shannon is making me feel thing" face says something.
I also said earlier today that Eddie is aware of his feelings because he stops saying emotional things while looking at Buck. Like, after the tsunami he is literally chasing Buck's gaze to force him to look at him, he doesn't look away from him at the grocery store or when they make up after the lawsuit or even after Buck fights with his parents, but starting with the will reveal, he looks away when saying things, and it makes me wonder if there's a level of that that is about making sure Buck can't read his reaction to what he's saying, because he doesn't want Buck to look too closely.
Anyway, that's all for today, as always, if you read this I love you <3

Prediction:
The preview with the guy unable to control himself who choked out Buck (Jesus that's a poor choice of words but we balll) is a metaphor.
911 loves their metaphors.
Basically Eddie still crashes the date but Buck ain't acknowledge it.
Based on the interview he's going to have to prove to Tommy/work harder or Tommy's gonna want to be open with their relationship (maybe this is 50/50 honestly).
The choking is literally Buck choking on his feelings and words of telling people and letting them know how he feels and his new identity. He's on edge and maybe feels like he can't control himself.
Remember this is a man who overshares with everyone he meets. Even strangers on calls. They're gonna know when he's more quiet or nervous.
When the stills come out my predictions will probably be more accurate but even though he's just let out a breath he's still choking on the rest when he steps outside.
And that in itself is really scary.

I'll start with saying it's not Eddie hate post, so please Eddie haters it's not place for you
Now, to every Tommy hater, who thinks that saying that bucktommy is bad/doomed just because Tommy made closet joke and went away from Buck. You love to scream how Eddie is ALWAYS THERE FOR BUCK AND ALWAYS SEES HIM, but sweethearts, it's not true
You remember 3x1? Eddie wasn't there for Buck, he wasn't the one to support him how he needed. He was the one to say "look my kid has problems every day, but never sorry for himself. Stop feel sorry for literally almost dying twice, hard surgeries one by one and PA for months only to lose your job". He pushed Buck out of bed and then before they really talked in 3x6 and 3x9 he was rude to Buck(not saying Buck was right about lawsuit, but Eddie's "you're exhausting" was the kick too deep we NEVER saw apologies about). Then Eddie like everyone made fun of Buck's sex with therapist situation in 3x9(which, oof, Eddie fr?). And over years made sometimes teasing with love yet not really sweet comments. HE DIDN'T ALWAYS SEE BUCK. He STAYED enough to learn Buck, how no one did. He came back to Buck. But he wasn't always "perfect match"
Remember the line people like to use about buddie: "you don't find it son, you make it" about love? Eddie and Buck made friendship and MAYBE love
But you know why you're so scared about bucktommy? Because Tommy can actually make romantic love with Buck. He at least wasn't so close to Buck during closet joke how Eddie was during 3s. And he came back the second Buck called. And he's gentle with Buck and he wants to know him
So just because you want to make buddie "always perfect" for each other stop erasing their full story. It's not true. They weren't always perfect for each other. They just made good possible fundament for being perfect
There are never perfect from the start love story. But there are stories about how people stay together and creat their own perfect stories (bathena, madney, henren). And now TOMMY STAYED TOO. He came back to Buck, explained why he left (not to pressure Buck for something he's not ready, like Chim always was with Maddie), and stayed to try to know Buck better. To see where story can get them. What they can make?

The thing to me about the Doctor's companions is that they are, at their very cores, ordinary. And that's not an insult. They are human, flawed and messy and chaotic and petty and obsessive and clingy and kind and mortal and ordinary. And yet the Doctor chooses them again and again. Every Doctor is given a moment where they could choose to leave them behind. To keep moving. To go find someone else. To let them be ordinary. And yet the Doctor chooses the companion, sees some extraordinary in all of these ordinary people, because seven billion people and counting and the Doctor's never met someone like them.

Alright friends I’m back with a small and quick buddie language analysis based off all that content we got for the 100 episodes celebration!!!
First of all, I can’t even get into body language without speaking about their outfit choices. On the same day we have their costume designer talk about how everything is thought out, how she meets with the directors/producers to make sure everything is right we have a sneak peek on what appears to be Buck and Eddie’s wedding outfits for Maddie and Chim’s wedding. Why is this a big deal?!? Because they are literally complimenting each other almost as if its meant to be viewed that they’re together as a unit. Now maybe it can be a family unit and not necessarily a couple type thing. Regardless, light pink and mint green are very complimentary and work well together. Upon some research, I found that pink tends to balance out the color green. The color pink will typically soften the color green whereas green will keep the pink color more grounded and leveled with the earth. Think of a strawberry where it grows from the green leaves and blooms into a beautiful red or pink shade!
Anyways it’s certainly a fucking choice that now we have confirmation that their costumes are always intentional, we have a glimpse into both gentlemen matching at what seems to be Buck’s sisters wedding. If that’s not meant to be obvious or a statement, then what is the reason? Especially knowing Eddie has never worn pink a single episode we’ve seen him in. He usually wears the earthy tones and Buck is the one who wears the fun colors including pink. So this role reversal is intentional but I also think it’s because Eddie is finally stepping out of his comfort zone and trying new things but Buck is still there to balance him out with his familiar earthy tones. They simply compliment each other well.
Now when it comes to body language, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: Oliver and Ryan have such raw natural chemistry that really shines on screen. Clearly they’ve been filming a lot together because they’re slowly morphing into the same person. In many videos we have seen thus far, they are mirroring one another so seamlessly. That’s because their bodies have become so familiar with one another that it naturally mimics one another.
Take this video for example. They both go in and take a bite at the same time. They’re not even looking at each other but their bodies are in sync with one another.
Tumblr media
Then we have another video where both men tilt their head and look left at the same time. It happens so naturally, almost as if there’s a mirror there and you’re seeing the same reflection. It’s ridiculous how in tune they are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we have the level of closeness and lack of personal space. Oliver usually tends to keep his arms straight out and never really puts his hand around anyone when taking pictures. He clearly feels comfortable enough with Ryan to put his arm and hand around him for the photos they were taking. Also, Ryan is leaning in towards Oliver in the first photo which can be a direct result of how comfortable they are to be around each other, taking up the same space.
Tumblr media
Do not even get me started on whatever this is. Clearly they didn’t know their picture was being taken while they were having their little talk. But this reminds me of all of Aisha’s lives where they were in their own little bubble talking as if they’re the only two people in the room. Same goes here. This is clearly two people who are so fucking comfortable in each others’ orbits and tend to tune out everyone and everything around them when they’re together. They exude such natural chemistry that it’s so palpable in pictures such as candids like this one. This tells me that it’s very likely a lot of their scenes have been together, which would explain why real life starts mimicking what happens on screen.
All in all what I’m trying to say is something is definitely different about these two this season. I know I’ve said it in the past but you don’t just look this comfortable and attached with just a random coworker or a friend. These are two people that have grown closer whether it’s on screen or maybe in real life with their friendship. All I’m saying is that something has shifted and it’s so obvious with just how naturally in sync they are with each other, how easily they touch one another and lean into the others touch. Something definitely has shifted or is on the cusp of shifting and I for one am excited to see. Excited to see why these choices on their wedding attire were made. Excited to see the trajectory of their on screen relationship. Excited to see how they’re going to strengthen Buck and Eddie and excited to see if they do in fact plan on planting those seeds for Buddie to bloom come next season.

So, wait, ...
... now I'm really confused.
Tumblr media
I thought that we were specifically told that this wardrobe was from the wedding episode, but Kenny said that there's a lot of pastels at the bachelour party, so coincidence or ...?

“Daemon would have never let Jacaerys take the throne over his own sons.”
People seem to forget that Jacaerys was betrothed to and was soon to marry Baela (Daemon’s daughter).
Baela was set to become Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. If you honestly believe that Daemon would plot against his own daughter, you need a serious reality check.
Believe it or not, not everyone is like those two overly ambitious upstarts, Otto and Alicent Hightower, who didn’t settle for anything less than having their blood occupy the throne and take the crown of Consort as well.
People like Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon have proven to be open to compromises and are way more flexible.
Yes, of course, Daemon prefers his own sons. Any normal person would. But he never had a problem with any of his stepsons (unlike how Ryan Condal makes a point to create unnecessary strife between them on that show for some reason). He raised them for many years. They are Rhaenyra’s sons and his great-nephews, so they are of his blood as well.
As much as he would have liked to have his own son sit the throne, Daemon would have settled to have his daughter as Queen Consort.
And given the closeness between the Team Black children (unlike the Greens, who attempt to betray one another), Aegon and Viserys wouldn’t have done anything to try to undermine Jacaerys after he became King.

Queer-coded Eddie Diaz theory
Okay, walk with me here. I have this theory.
I’ve been thinking about what Lou said in his interview. He said that the Tommy storyline was initially meant for Eddie. (Which still sets me reeling whenever I think about it.) But they changed their mind because something fell through and they decided to give the storyline to Buck. Which I’m happy about to be honest. Eddie is a whole different case of ‘being in the closet’. That man will need a lot more time to come to terms with his sexuality than Buck.
But, let’s imagine they would have stuck with the Eddie/Tommy storyline:
Obviously Marisol would have quietly disappeared in between seasons and Eddie would have been single again.
They hired Lou, a big bulky white man, to play his love interest. I know that we often say that Eddie is the Latin Lou, but he could also be a slightly bigger Buck (if you squint).
They would have bonded over the many shared interests and their army past. From there on their romance would have started and bloomed.
Buck would have probably still been with Nathalia or perhaps he would have also been single. Not sure about that. It would have depended on the actress being available or not.
In his interview, Tim Minear has stated that Buck has always been queer-coded, from season 1 on.
So, if we follow that line of thinking, wouldn’t Eddie have been queer-coded as well? Because, after all, he would have been the one in a romantic relationship with Tommy.
And then what? Would Buck have found his inner bisexual by being jealous of Eddie and Tommy? Like something we saw play out in 7x04. Everyone would assume, in the beginning, that Buck was just jealous of having to share Eddie’s attention with Tommy. But then, after a few episodes, it would have been revealed that he was actually in love with Eddie? Because, remember, according to Tim Minear, Buck has always been queer-coded. So it would only be logical to continue the storyline like that. Especially because everyone seems to lean into it this season. Oliver, Ryan, Tim and even Lou have been talking about Buddie.
Then what? Would Eddie have found out about Buck? Would he have realised that he loved Buck back, breaking up with Tommy, only to be with Buck? Or would Tommy have set him free from the relationship?
See the logic here? If Buck has always been queer-coded, why did they plan to have Eddie come out? It doesn’t make any sense, UNLESS Eddie has always been queer-coded as well (whether gay, demisexual or something else).
Now, if we go back to the current story that is playing out on our screens right now. If we take the above Eddie/Tommy scenario and change it to Buck/Tommy, then it would only be logical for the second character that has also been queer-coded since season 2 (Eddie) to end up with the other queer-coded character, now established bisexual (Buck).
Whichever way you look at it, all roads eventually lead to Buddie.
Mind you, this is only my train of thought and my opinion. Also no hate on Tommy or Buck/Tommy. This is just something that has been slow cooking in my brain ever since those articles from Tim and Lou came out. Couple that with Ryan’s interview, where he clearly states that Eddie has lived a very different life from Buck. He talks about how Eddie always looks for a mom-figure for Christopher in a relationship, and that he has always lived a ‘straight’- laced life. But that he is slowly discovering parts about himself he didn’t know were there in the first place. And now with the whole ‘catholic guilt’ storyline suddenly popping up out of nowhere, it just would make so much sense for Eddie to be some flavour of queer.
It would set up such an interesting storyline for his character as well. He would potentially struggle with his feelings, a lot more than Buck ever did. He might even have problems with accepting that side of himself. But ultimately it would all come down to Buck and his feelings for him. And Eddie has always been brave, so he would eventually own up to it and tell Buck.
All of this makes so much sense to me and I can't shake it.
Tell me, am I losing my mind here? Has 911 and Buddie finally broken me beyond repair? Have I boarded the train to delulu-land? Talk to me.
