So for some reason I was compelled to watch the infamously bad Persona Trinity Soul, and, whilst I haven't finished it yet (I hit a really emotional episode and need to take a break), this is really really good.

The intenet is just phenomenally stupid. (more on this in another post)

I mean, i guess they could mess up the last couple of episodes but, it's been a really good run that's nothing anyone complains about that.

So, let's quickly talk about Trinity Soul.

Persona Trinity Soul is a TV anime that aired during the first half of 2008, finishing up just a month before Persona 4 released. It stars a collection of characters that makes a proper summary a bit difficult. But the first act has two sets of central characters.

1. A group of police officers, led by Ryo Kanzato, the youngest chief on record, who is a persona user, as they track down the culprits of a string of Serial Killings.

2. A group of high school students, with the central character of Shin Kanzato, the younger brother of Ryo and a new transfer student. He has transfered along with his younger brother, Jun, making up what I assume to be the trinity.

The two groups are caught up in with a series of conspiracies and machinations, including the previously mentioned serial killings, a mysterious girl who explodes into features, a large submarine with missing occuopants, and an incident from 10 years ago. There's quite a bit of backstory intersecting.

What's most notable, is that right between Persona 3 and 4 is this, a story where there is no Dark Hour, Midnight Channel or Metaverse. There aren't even demons or shadows.

Every fight in Trinity Soul is Human vs Human. Persona are big bulking monsters, and fights will deal collateral damage to the surroundings, with a single misstep putting death or major injury on the cards. Users will also use them to jump to or off places they shouldn't, and generally interact with the environment.

Tonally different from a turn based RPG where you can set the field on fire or bring lightning from the heaven's for a smidge of boss damage, Trinity Soul has an element of physicality that feels a bit more true to Persona's original influences like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

This kind of trait is lacking from the anime adaptations of 4 and 5, and less apparent in 3, due to Persona users being locked to the previously mentioned supernatural realms. I don't think this would have occured, had Trinity Soul been made after Persona 4, so it feels like a mishmash.

It's very fun, I can't wait for the ending.

So when Kanzato gives her a suggestion that is more of an order, Naoto bites her tongue—I can handle myself—and does not argue. She steps behind him, although her eyes are locked on the immediate threat before them.

Don’t complicate things.

This is only for playable characters, except for Tamaki, but she's the protag in SMT if... in a technical sense she's playable.

1* Zenkichi's exact age is not clear, it's only stated that he is in his 40s. So I did the math and found that he would be, at the very least, born in 1977.

2* I haven't played Persona 3 yet, so Aigis' backstory is kinda confusing to me. Apparently, she's manufactured in February 2000, and activated in September 10th 2000. But in Aegis: The First Mission, she activated in 1999. But the years are near enough that it doesn't cause a generation confusion so she's gen z.

So that's the generation divide between Persona characters. I spent wayy too much time on this. Also, forgive me for not being able to add more characters/miss any of them! And here's the source to where I got all the generation names and years from.
