Ladybug & Ryuko: either Ryubug or Ladyuko.

Marinette & Ryuko: Ryunette.

Kagami & Ladybug: Ladygami.

Miraculous thing

While I am getting ready for my Spinel Appreciation Week (starts this Sunday), I have been getting caught up on Miraculous Ladybug.

While I am not exactly happy with the season as a whole (a lot of decisions made honestly), I do like somethings. The designs of the new Miraculous wielders specifically (as well as Miraculous swap Marinette and Adrien...seriously why put more effort in their one episode costumes than their permanent ones?).

Also the season has helped move Marigami (Kagaminette) up my favorite ships list. Lilanette is still my favorite but the pairing is solely based on Marinette and fandom Lila, not canon Lila. They ruined her for me sadly.

Sooo...the point of this post...we need some Ryunette? Mariko? Marinette x Ryuko (Dragon Kwami Kagami) content! I think it’d be a fun concept to see and really cute like Marichat ^^

Popping back in again to wonder about this and ask you out of these names I gathered around for each Marinette/Kagami pairing, which do you prefer out of every one of them? Fandom cant decide -w- --[the doodle Anon]

Marinette × Kagami = Marigami | Kagaminette

Ladybug × Kagami = Ladygami | Kagabug

Ladybug × Ryuko = Ladyuko | Ryubug

Marinette × Ryuko = Mariyuko | Ryunette

I personally go with Marigami, Ladygami, Ryubug and Ryunette.

The truth is, I really don’t like Kagami’s superhero name, it’s the least original thing ever and it’s really not great in terms of keeping her identity a secret (then again the same is true with Volpina which screams “Italy!” and Rena Rouge is creole, if I’m not mistaken).

I kind of disagree with the overwhelming majority of fanon characterisation around Kagami. This isn’t to say that there aren’t great fan works with Kagami, there are many of them, they have great versions of Kagami, but the Kagami in these works is rarely the one I want to read about. I write the things I would want to read, and this include fanfiction too.

Because of that, I tend not to read a lot of these fics anymore… Not because they’re bad, but because their interpretation of Kagami, which is entirely valid as long as these works don’t reek of weird orientalism and Asian fetishisation (I wouldn’t touch those works with a teen foot pole), isn’t one that interests me personally. And that’s okay!

So I had never given your question a lot of thought before today. Also I hardly read ML fanfiction these days, I only skim through things to make sure I’m not accidentally stealing ideas and story beats.

Marinette × Kagami = Marigami | Kagaminette [Kaganette is also an option. Always wondered why Kagaminette was chosen mainly when Kaganette is simpler and shorter]
