My sister was so excited about Pavitr's "chai tea" rant because "maybe that will finally get people to stop calling it 'chai tea'!"
I'm not as optimistic, but I can hope, I guess 😂

Don Pasquale, English translation (the libretto starts on page 54, Norina and Ernesto's duet is on pages 84-85)
Full opera on Youtube, English subtitles (the duet starts at 1:55:28)
Come, say the words I long for,
say you are mine forever;
never to part, no, never,
our lives shall henceforward be one.
Your tender voice shall quieten
the tempest that rages inside me:
Ah! With you, my love, beside me,
I shall not tremble alone,
I’ll tremble no more alone.

by far my stupidest mash headcanon is that whenever after!mash hawktrap meet someone and they ask how they met they explain and then hawkeye gets to the part where trapper leaves and embellishes the hell out of it ,, he’s like “ he left without leaving a note ,, i thought i was never gonna see him again … “ he does this bit every single time and trapper hates it .

there are characters for whom a gay reading is the cherry on top, a little treat for me. and indulgence, sometimes, even if i can refer to the text to argument this thesis. one could entertain a reading of the text without these lenses, but what good, and what fun could it be? And then there are characters for whom a gay reading allows for all the minute ways in they are played, the body language, the expressions (micro or otherwise), the modulation of lines, to begin to make genuine, precise, prehensible sense. the reading of the text is objectively poorer without these lenses. put simply, it is not that I am going for a gay reading of the character. it is that the gay reading is going for them.

have been thinking about this a lot lately and i do just want to say that i think a lot of people Online™ really don't realise how genuinely dangerous being gay offline is. and even when it isn't physically dangerous, how profoundly uncomfortable being gay makes straight people. i need you to understand that though the online world is part of real life, it is not the whole scope of things and i do believe that to forget that can be very very unwise both for yourself and for other people.
i'm not saying the world isn't getting better or that being gay is something you need to be aware of at all times, i'm just saying it is absolutely a disservice to yourself and everyone else by refusing to acknowledge that at this point in time, society even in more progressive spaces has not moved past cold hard homophobia. and even if you haven't experienced it yourself, you need to know that your experiences aren't universal. if you assume that they are, it will harm people in one way or another. i'm not saying be scared, i'm saying know that there are still many, many significant steps to take even in more progressive places wrt to lgbt rights, let alone places where that's not so much a thing. i just think it's essential to understanding the world you're living in as a gay person, to understand this.

📚 The Corbomite Manuver, a surprisingly Spirky novelization!
(Be warned: long post!)
I think this difference from the actual episode stems from the written format giving us as the reader a chance to learn how kirk is feeling and thinking during such a stressful, possibly deadly situation. Being able to read his thoughts tells us much!
Starting off we have a very cute reaction to spock being able to tap into the alien ship to see what the other entity looks like. God bless Spock (haven't we all said that ourselves lmao), a man who is honest and blunt about what he's up to
Kirk is a man who has to appear strong for the crew because they depend on and look to him for guidance. For him to know what he's doing always and wil lead them in the right direction. The idea of "being able to pull rabbits out of a hat" crosses his mind a lot, too - he feels he has to be a miracle worker for the people around him, not for his own gratification, but because they expect him to be able to do so
He feels safe around spock can be more like himself, as James Kirk, than just Captain Kirk like he is to everyone else on the ship (save mccoy, of course). He seeks spock's counsel multiple times because he knows spock won't judge him for what he says and being at a lost and a little scared about the situation like the rest of the crew. He feels like he's treated as a person with spock. He thinks of spock as his (best) friend twice in 4-5 short paragraphs! (Who knows, maybe in a vulcan translation for novelization the word would be t'hy'la instead)
Similarly, Spock may be different from the rest of the crew because he's part vulcan, but to kirk spock is different because he is independent and able to hold his own. Kirk sees them as equals not just from spock being his first officer, but from how spock treats him as a just a regular person and he appreciates that!
And finally, multiple times when they think they're on the cusp of dying, spock moves from the science station to stand beside kirk. Depending on when the corbomite manuver chronologically takes place, he may already have heard kirk remark "I know I am going to die alone." While spock moving to be near him could simply be a base comfort thing, i personally like to think it's a nod to spock doing his best to make sure that, should they die, kirk will not be alone in those last moments. Even when they stand on the bridge with a handful of people, he wants kirk to know he's there.
TLDR: kirk thinks multiple times during a stressful situation "bless Spock, hes my best friend" and kirk holds spock in high regard for how spock treats him like a normal person not put on a pedestal because of captaincy, and he also appreciate that spock is independent. Spock doesn't say how he feels about his captain but his actions speak louder than words
TLDR of the TLDR: these bitches gay

I love how 10 and Donna and 12 and Clara can be seen as opposite sides of the QPR toxicity spectrum. With 10 and Donna being a very healthy QPR where they balance each other out really well and 12 and Clara being an insanely toxic and codependent QPR where they make each other so much worse. And I love them both.

honestly as much fear as I would have for Blue and Adam portrayals the worst thing that could happen if trc ever was made into a show would be if the guy they cast for Gansey played and read as super undeniably heterosexual. No homoerotic chemistry with the other men At All. Can you imagine?
