Every time someone says shit like “what if Spock went to a private school because his family is rich and schooling for other Vulcan children is different” or “what if not all kids get bonded, only Spock did cause his dad’s so important” I’m putting everything in me to try and blow you up with my mind

A) this is supposed to be a post scarcity world, so I fucking hate the idea of money still affecting kids’ access to important things like the kind of education they get and whether they get bonded as a kid that could really affect if they survive later on, I think that post scarcity should mean that all kids get immediate access to the same level of important shit like that, and rather, power and prestige gets you weird shit, like being able to transport your fucking sehlat to earth so your kid feels less lonely (emotional support sehlat)

B) Fucks with word building and stuff, like I actually enjoy the idea of Vulcans actually trying to be as logical as possible all the time, so the idea of them all deciding “this is how logical school learning is” and then making it worldwide or deciding all kids should get bonded so there’s a safety net in place since it’s the only logical thing they can do for their time, since their time doesn’t run on logic, paints a specific depiction of Vulcans and the kind of planet they run that you’re going to have to rip from my hands

I’m just saying. I’m just saying that there was some SHADY shit going down at Spock’s school

I get that there’s a huge concern over keeping your emotions in check, but if you actually think about it, they would know and accept that kids have a harder time controlling their emotions, and so they would have systems in place where if a kid lost control of their emotions, they’d help them calm down and talk out how that kid should’ve logically reacted

What I’m saying, is that it would’ve been more in character for the school officials to look through security footage (which would’ve existed!! with it being the future and the way Vulcans like to document everything to the exact nth) and try to talk to Spock about how he should’ve reacted in that situation

Which means they would’ve seen the group of kids taunting him, and something about them makes me think that this is a reoccurring situation, not just with Spock, but any other Vulcan kid not deemed “Vulcan” enough

So although they would’ve done something about Spock losing control of his emotions, they also would’ve been more concerned about the kids making this a terrible learning space for other children, and they would’ve seen the logic in stopping the problem at its source

But instead no investigation was done? Against three kids cornering one, three kids who I’m sure would’ve been in multiple situations where they’ve had some kind of alternation with another kid, who would’ve let the adults know the other kids were taunting them? No investigation?

I think it was a coverup. I don’t think it’s just the school’s xenophobia either, I think one of those kids’ parents, or all of them, have ties in the school, and every time their kid is almost caught for doing something bad, they have the teachers tell the victims that the best thing to do is to control their own emotions and let it happen, making it seem like it was the victim’s fault so their kids get away with it and no investigation is done

I think the s’chn t’gai family should have sued the school.

I literally can’t stop thinking about how Pike is functionally a fourth S’chn T’gai sibling narratively speaking.

Not only that but he’s the eldest brother Sybok never got the chance to be, and I am hoping that we get to see a Spock & Sybok & Pike dynamic in future SNW stories cuz… man.

He serves as an absolutely crucial mentor figure/healing force in both Michael AND Spock’s lives, both of whom are in some of their darkest hours.

In being there for both Michael and Spock, being patient and believing deeply in both of them. That gives the two of them the space they need to heal their own sibling relationship.

Now the beautifully tragic part, taking Pike’s brotherly/paternal nature with Spock into account

Every single one of Spock’s older siblings, surrogate, adopted, and bastard all end up sacrificing themselves to save him.

Michael goes to the future to prevent Control from wiping out all biological life, forced to leave Spock behind.

Pike deliberately seals his fate, burdened with the knowledge that if he succeeds in saving himself in any way, Spock dies.

Sybok perishes buying Spock enough time to escape when the entity he had hoped was God turned out to be malevolent.
