Jack is a great foil to these two. Rose and the Doctor are both adorably earnest, but Jack... Jack is just a little more tricky, a little more brawny. He's a great addition to the cast (even though I know it won't last)

"When he's stressed, he likes to insult species." Ha!

The Doctor has Captain-envy. Come on, Doctor, you know Rose and her daddy-issues carry a huge torch for you

Dude. You're, like, 25 centuries old or whatever. That's no dancing

Okay, so nanobots that are just there to heal people? That's a neat plot twist which I did not see coming. You're so geared to see the gasmaskifitis as a virus because it spreads like one. Neat narrative trick, show

Jack! No! Don't flee just because the bomb will drop there! gdi. (Jack, of course, can do no wrong, but...)

O hey! Jack comes though with the tractor beam! Yay!

I really really really loved the "Everybody lives"-moment, because it's earned, you know? All throughout the season, people have been dying in the Doctor's wake -- I even made a note of it. Everybody making it, for once? It bucks the trend.

The Doctor has a brain, Rose has a heart, but Jack? Jack's got style

Of course he drinks a very dirty martini

I like that you can't really tell who Jack is more jealous of during their dance - the Doctor or Rose

We're ramping up to the end of the season -- is this the last time this Doctor will get to be happy? :-(

Ooh one more quick thing before I go to bed:

I love love love how quick Hickey's death actually is when it comes right down to it.

I feel like a lesser show would've lingered much more on that moment of realisation, would've had the soundtrack swell. "Ha ha! Look, nasty-pasty antagonist! Here's your comeuppance!" while we zoom interminably in on his wee daft face.

But this isn't that show!

A few tantalising seconds of eerie calm. An almighty CHOMP. One fleeting yet spectacularly impactful second of that "Oh Shit" look. Torn open like an overcooked hotdog. And done!

He's just a guy, at the end of the day. A horrible little rat man whose death doesn't deserve to be more than what it is. Whose death deserves to be just as quick and gruesome and ignoble and utterly utterly pointless as everyone else's.
