The Sims 4 Bustin' Out by @marzmud

Are you a fan of The Sims Bustin' Out, a fan of cc-free lots and sims, or just a fan of fun sims challenges in general? Well, after a month of work my full Sims 4 Bustin' Out project is finally here, with 3 different challenges as well as sim and lot downloads for you to enjoy!

What is this whole thing anyways? A 3-part challenge to bring The Sims Bustin' Out lots, sims, and gameplay to the Sims 4 (or any other sims game of your choice), plus 30 sims and 15 lots to download (all cc-free).

What are the challenge rules? Recreate a lot or sim inspired by one from the Sims Bustin' Out (view full list here) or play through the gameplay challenge with a sim of your own. Pack information, installation instructions, and a detailed guide are all included in the challenge PDF. This challenge does not require any mods or cc, and can be adapted to the packs that you own (though the gameplay may be more difficult if you only have a few).

Share the fun! Share your lots with the hashtag #BuildingBustinOut, your sims with the hashtag #PopulationBustin, and your gameplay with #TheBustinOutChallenge or #TBOC so that everyone can see! Please also feel free to tag me, @marzmud, on tumblr or twitter! :3

Pack you bags, book your trip and TAKE a HIKE with Frankie Shirey!

Does your sim need to get away from it all? Are they maybe trying to get over their failed marriage (like our main man here), or forget a relationship that shouldn't have happened? Maybe they're running from their tragic past, or seeking a cleansing experience to cure their raging alcoholism! Or maybe they just hecking love nature, or need a way to finish their frog collections in an organized environment. Whatever the reason, BACKPACKING ACROSS SIMNATION promises to bring together total strangers in rudimentary accommodations, where we all are forced to face the harsh yet freeing simplicity of camping.

MAX 7 PARTICIPANTS 🏕️ 🧭 No eliminations, we're all in this 'til the end 🧭 Romantic goal not guaranteed nor required, the challenge will go with the flow! Main focus on storytelling and building relationships and experiences!

• any gender, young adult, adult or elder • human only • rich backstory encouraged, family members/pets/household also welcome (they won't be part of the challenge, but they're free to roam to world) • can have skills, any level you want • please add likes and dislikes as much as you want • no alpha hair, clothes can be maxis mix • can have multiple outfits per category, but keep in mind that we're camping in the wilderness!

I use Wicked Whims, Lumpinou's Relationship & Pregnancy Overhaul Collection, Basemental drugs, so sim can have traits and other features based on them. (Such as wicked attributes, thoughts on kids etc.) Sliders and presets are fine! I have my own defaults so please don't include any override cc though!

The Collector’s Challenge is a multi-round gameplay challenge based on collecting items for each round and, ultimately, completing the household collection list. This Challenge is entirely based on the Collector's Legacy Challenge by @simdiv so all credit goes to them (thank you!!). I only modified this as a non-legacy version. If you’re into legacy challenges you NEED to try theirs out! 

*To find the household collections in-game, open your sims inventory, click the diamond in the top right of the box and boom, collections*

Rules: 

No cheating! The purpose is to enjoy the gameplay and find out new things you haven’t discovered before!.

You may start with a starter lot - use skills and your job (if the round requires it) to build/buy what you need. Remember, you can sell your house if you are moving in the next round!

You may use an existing Sim but their household funds should be no higher than 20,000 Simoleons.

Keep your collectibles! They can be helpful in other rounds and, of course, bring in some much needed funds if you get duplicates by selling them!

Aging can be on or off (aging on might add a little more of a challenge).

Some rounds require certain packs. If you do not have a pack, skip the round!

Use the hashtag #ts4collector so we can all see your gameplay!

Good luck and have fun! This is the MOST IMPORTANT RULE! Switch around the rounds, skip a round! Make the challenge work for you!

Round One: Frogs and Fishes

You love froggies, you love fishies.  So start collecting them!

Rules:

Collect every frog and fish

Complete the Angling Ace aspiration (optional) 

Have a room dedicated to your beloved frogs and fish (Mounted or in tanks)

Max the fishing skill

Become a part time fisherman until the next round

Note: Some fish need to be caught in Forgotten Grotto, which you need level 10 handiness to get into.

Round Two: Gardening Guru

Watching plants grow fascinates you so in this round, you’ll be… fascinated!

Rules:

Collect all gardening plants and all the Magic Beans

Have a garden/farm/greenhouse for your beloved plants

Max the gardening skill

Complete the Freelance Botanist aspiration (optional)

Note: You can obtain the magic beans through rare seed packets.

Round Three: Bits and Bobbles

You LOVE MySims trophies and holiday cracker plushies so get to collecting!

Rules:

Collect all the MySims Trophies and holiday cracker plushies

Have a display/room for your trophies and plushies

Live in an apartment in San Myshuno 

Round Four: For science!

Your passion is the study of metals and crystals. You’re about to geek out collecting all of them.

Rules:

Collect all the metals, crystals and microscope prints

Have a room/display for your metals, crystals and microscope prints.

Complete the element display rack

Complete the Scientist Career (optional)

Round Five: Meals and Memories

You love collecting postcards, you love eating weird foods. This round is all about you and your weirdness, friend.

Collect all postcards and take photos of all the experimental foods

Complete the Friend of the World aspiration (optional)

Go to a restaurant every Friday with your friends and/or family

Round Six: A Bug’s Life

You always loved bugs and this round is all about that love affair, baby.

Collect all insects and feathers

Have a room dedicated to your beloved insects and feathers

Max the Herbalism skill

Round Seven: One small step for Sim, one giant leap for Simkind

What’s not cool about the unknown reaches of the Simverse? 

Rules:

Collect all Space Prints, Aliens, Space Rocks, and Geodes

Have a room/lab dedicated to all your space related items

Master the rocket scientist skill

Round Eight: Variety is the spice of simulated life

All you need to be happy is your decorative eggs, your childhood collection of void critters and your sugar skulls. 

Rules:

Collect all the decorative eggs, voidcritters and sugar skulls

Have a room/display for all your items

Paint as your main source of income

Note: To be able to collect the decorative eggs, seasons is required and you need to make a holiday (Like Easter, for example) and select egg hunting as one of the activities. 

To get sugar skulls, offer a skull to a gravestone and look for the Day of the Dead celebrator around the neighborhood.

Round Nine: Welcome to the Jungle!

The jungles of Selvadorada are calling you! Collect every treasure you can get your sticky little hands on.

Rules:

Collect all the ancient Omiscan artifacts, Omiscan treasures and fossils

Have a room and/or display for all your artifacts, treasures and fossils

Max the Selvadoradian culture skill and Archaeology skill

Learn to make at least 4 of the foods that you obtain from the food stand in Selvadorada

Round Ten: Exploring the Big City

Grab all the posters from around the city and collect all the snow globes you can find.

Rules:

Collect all the city posters and snow globes

Have a room/display for your posters and snow globes

Work as a part-time retail employee (Optional)

Round Eleven: Sand and Suntans

You are officially headed to Sulani to collect all the seashells you come across and all the buried treasure you can find.

Round Twelve: Doin’ the Mountain Move

You love the outdoors, plants, animals and a little friendly competition!

Rules:

Obtain first, second, or third place ribbons in each village fair competitions (Chicken, Egg, Cow, Milk, Llama, Wool, Oversized Crops, Garden and Pie.)

Have a display wall for your village fair ribbons

Complete the Country Caretaker aspiration (Optional)

Max the gardening and cross-stitching skill

Bake sweets with your family or friends once a week

Note: To complete the ribbon collection, you only need to win 1 ribbon from each competition that is listed above.

Round Fourteen: Bottles, Biscuits and Love

Collect all of the lovely messages you find from all over the sim universe and bake a pie or two!

Rules:

Collect and have a display/room for your messages in a bottle

Complete the Soulmate aspiration (Optional)

Max the Baking and Cooking skill

The Ricky Montgomery Legacy Challenge

Inspired by @dizzywhims' Sour Legacy, I decided I wanted to make a legacy based on my favorite album, Montgomery Ricky by Ricky Montgomery!

The rules on this challenge are pretty lax, as I built it more for myself, however, the more I sat on it the more I wanted to actually put it out for everyone! So, here's all the rules! Make sure to tag either @cc-for-cy or @heretoreadmyfics and use the tag #montgomeryrickylegacy if you do this challenge, I would love to see it!

| 0 - Rules

This challenge is NOT base game friendly, and uses almost all the packs. Feel free to alter this challenge if you do not have a pack used. 

Mods are encouraged! Try not to use many cheaty mods however. Basemental Mods is encouraged for two generations but you may not use them if you feel uncomfortable with it. 

Unless specified, drama, how many kids you have, etc are totally up to you!

This challenge is very storyline based! Feel free to go insane with the storyline, and use my descriptions as a baseline. Requirements are, of course, required to happen. You may also edit or add challenge rules depending on how hard you want the challenge to be, as this challenge is written for beginner storytelling.

Heirs can be any gender, HOWEVER the challenge is written for a patriarchy, and patriarchy is preferred.

Having just moved back to Del Sol Valley, you’re ready to get started on your big break! You swear you’re not going to fall into the pitfalls of stardom, saying “I love all my fans” when you don’t, becoming someone you never saw yourself as, but… Will that sentiment ring true when you finally get all you want?

Aspiration: World Famous Celebrity

Traits: Self-Absorbed, Creative, Ambitious

Career: Actor or Entertainer (Musician Branch)

Requirements:

Max the Acting and/or an Instrument (guitar, piano, violin, etc) skill

Date a celebrity and have at least 1 child with them

Become a 5 Star celebrity

And you’re always looking for some company”

Growing up being a top celebrities kid, your life was luxurious, filled with parties, and general monkeying around- even some trying to make it on your own, but it wasn’t that important to you… Until it was. You used to be crazy with creativity but now.. you don’t feel as important as you once did. And you’re gonna have to Get Used to It. 

Aspiration: Live Fast (Teen), Party Animal

Traits: Non-Committal, High-Maintenance, Childish

Career: The OPPOSITE of whatever you majored in (EX. Drama Degree -> Go into Business)

Requirements:

Max out the Gardening skill

Go to University

Have an eventful teenage/YA life that settles down halfway through, to your dismay

Have at least 2 different partners before meeting the one you marry

DON’T complete your aspiration

“Ashes, ashes, dust to dust

I think I found a place for us”

Once your parents finally settle down, they never really let you have creativity. They never let you have anything, really, saying that the real world would end all your hopes and dreams, and for a while you believed that, until you met them and suddenly your life felt colorful and loved. But.. You had to keep it secret. Because your parents would just tear that down like all your other dreams. 

Aspiration: Soulmate

Traits: Romantic, Gloomy, Clumsy

Career: Painter (Either branch)

Requirements:

Max the Painting skill

Take a vacation and meet your partner there. 

Partner must have blonde/white hair. 

Keep your relationship secret from your family your entire life

Eventually live in the place you met your partner in (if available)

Waiting for someone to take it home”

After seeing what love your parents showed, you thought romance would be easy. You had no idea what they went through, and when you finally found a partner you knew you were going to be everything to them. But maybe the issues your family had plagued you, because suddenly you were worried that nobody would ever love you the way you did to others. And the life you had with your partner crumbled, and over a small argument, they left, seeing your flaws. And now you’re alone, waiting for someone to take your heart home.

Aspiration: Serial Romantic

Traits: Paranoid, Romantic, Overachiever

Career: Civil Planner (Either branch)

Requirements:

Max a vacation based skill (ex. skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, selvadordian culture, herbalism, etc)

Have a relationship break off after an argument (can be autonomous or not)

Have at least 1 kid with the partner that breaks up with you, and that has child has to be heir (may have more afterwards)

I don’t know how”

Seeing your parents relationship crumble over something so small never really gave you the confidence to ever even approach someone- so for most of your life you were alone and unloved, and kinda a nerd.. Until you see her and goddammit she is so out of your league! But even looking at her makes your knees buckle and your heart beat so hard- so you’re gonna try dammit, for the first time ever, to win someone out of your league! But.. Do you know how?

Aspiration: Nerd Brain, Villainous Valentine

Traits: Socially-Awkward, Self-Assured, Nerd

Career: Scientist

Requirements:

Have the Nerd Brain aspiration, but change it after competing the first two parts, and switch to Villainous Valentine

Meet someone who changes your life by being really hot and proceed with a romantic endeavor that gets your confidence up! Then cheat on them.

Insecure and bad. That’s what most of your relationships have felt like. It didn’t help that your parent had a sexual promiscuity problem, which probably didn’t really help your endeavors. But once you get someone, you are determined to never let them go- no matter what!… But. Your relationship becomes codependent. It becomes a problem- you can’t stop being around them. And your problems are cropping up again— so what do you do? You’re a line without a hook. You leave. 

Aspiration: Angeling Ace

Traits: Erratic, Perfectionist, Jealous

Career: Conservationist

Requirements:

Be best friends with your spouse, but eventually leave and abandon your family 

(abandoning family is considered the end of this generation)

Max out the fishing skill

Finish the frog collection

Never live alone

| 7 - Last Night

“Last night

I was fine!”

You weren’t super young when your parent abandoned you, but definitely old enough to destroy your teenage/YA life. It seemed like they always had something else better to do than love you, like for example loving your other parent way more. Were you really wanted? You spend your days forever at the bar, drinking and trying to forget. Eventually you’re dragged away, every time. By someone who allegedly loves you. 

Aspiration: Master Mixologist

Traits: Loner, Snob, Dance Machine

Career: Culinary (Mixology Branch)

Requirements:

Go to nightclubs/bars at least once a week

Be close/best friends with the parent who didn’t leave you. 

Have a partner, but cheat on them with a one night stand, that results in the heir. 

Master the mixology skill

| 8 - Mr Loverman

“I’m Mr. Loverman, 

and I miss my lover..”

Your life was always a little bit of a mess, but you keep going. Eventually you meet the love of your life, and you love and live with them as hard as you can. For so many years… But eventually… you lose them. And you mourn that love for the rest of your life, falling deep into problems that are generational. 

Aspiration: Soulmate

Traits: Cheerful -> Gloomy, Music Lover, Slob

Career: Freelancer (Writing Branch)

Requirements:

Lose your spouse, never remarry

Have a nuclear family (at least 3 kids + a pet)

Fall into old habits, start sabotaging relationships + going to bars.

Max the Cross-Stitch skill

“Bury me six feet in snow”

Once one of your parents dies, your other parent becomes very vindictive towards the rest of your family. You took the heat of it, and quickly your life fell apart. You get into a toxic relationship, and lose who you were slightly in the process. When everything seems calm, you jump ship. You aspire for your kid to have a better life, and bury your skeletons to make sure they will. 

Aspiration: Extreme Sports Enthusiast and/or Super Parent

Traits: Adventurous, Self-Absorbed, Family-Oriented

Career: Law (Either Branch)

Requirements:

Have a toxic relationship with your partner, break it off when it starts to get better

Have one kid, and max out all their skills as a toddler/infant

Max the Archeology skill

“This December

I’ll remember”

Your parent always wanted better for you. But you can’t help but think about the generations before you, how all their problems ruined their life, and how it seemed like every generation passed it down to their children. But you decide no more, this isn’t going to happen to you. Instead of fall into the pitfalls of your parents, you break the generational trauma, and decide to live a life free of the problems you know your family has been through. Don’t forget to look back, and see how far you’ve come. This December, you’ll remember everything. 

Aspiration: Successful Lineage

Traits: Family-Oriented, Loyal, Insider

Career: Education (Either Branch)

Requirements:

Fall in love healthily, get married, and adopt.

Celebrate the winter holidays the hardest. Go all out!

Master the Wellness skill

Reminisce on family often.

A highly requested update to my version of the “Super Sim Challenge”. You can find my original post here. It has a small FAQ but if you want more information about the challenge or how I have played it, just shoot me an ask!

First thing first, I did not create this challenge! There is a similar challenge called “The Perfect Sim Challenge”, see the challenge rules here, but there is also the Super Sim Challenge done by The Sims Supply on YouTube, which can be found here.

The game has changed significantly in the almost 4 years since I wrote the challenge but the premise is still the same. The Super Sim Challenge is one sim getting all the aspiration traits, reward traits, career traits, food traits, and maxing all of the skills.
