Marry me (Emily Prentiss x fem!Reader)

Warnings: talks of hospital, car crash, blood and wound mentions (no major character death)

Summary: A car crash turns everything into a nightmare. (Based off episode 18 and 19 of S7 of grey's anatomy)

A/N: It's a bit of a random post, but I remembered I had wrote that fic for @imagining-in-the-margins 's wedding challenge, so why not post it! It's really a no beta we die like men in here, so there might be some mistakes. This was based off @fortheloveofwonderland 's prompt 🤗

Word count: 3.7k

As soon as the occasion presented itself, Emily and Y/N did not hesitate a single second to spend the weekend together, far from their home. Windows rolled down, their hands glued together as Emily had the other on the steering wheel, they couldn’t stop freaking out about the simple concept of ‘vacation’.

“How did this even happen? You never get days off. I can’t believe your phone hasn’t started ringing. This is insane.” Y/N moved her right arm around as she spoke.

“Right? I can’t believe it either. It’s been… months.” Emily said.

“We finally have a weekend to ourselves.”

“Just us and the little one.” she said, briefly looking at her when the road was empty. "Let’s enjoy the final weeks before she never lets us rest again.”

“You said it,” she sighed. “We’re going to fuel ourselves with coffee.”

Emily doesn’t answer to that, eyes on the road.

“Is something wrong, Em?”

She blinked, “No, I just… spaced out for a second. Sorry.”

“Oh, okay. That happens. Did you…” Y/N started to say, but the buzz of her phone stopped her. “Oh… He found out.”

“What?”

“Reid. About the… prank we did on him, that’s not going to be good when we come-” she rambled, before Emily yanked her phone out of her grasp; throwing it somewhere behind. Probably in the back seats, not that it matters. Emily wanted this phone away. “What was that?”

“Can you just… this time is for us. You see him all the time, so do I, but he's not here now! It’s just us.”

“Come on, he was just texting. I wasn’t going to stay on my phone all day.” she argued, “I gotta text back at least.” then unbuckles her seatbelt to turn around.

“What are you doing?” Emily yelled.

With her phone in her hand, she yelled back, “I’m answering the text! Calm down, he’s not getting more time than you with me.”

“You make me sound like I’m acting jealous, or something.”

“Are you?” Y/N asked, eyes on her phone.

“It’s kind of difficult not to be when you talk about Spencer so often.”

“He’s my best friend, am I not allowed?” she asked, defensively. Taking a breath, she looked away from her phone. “I am giving all my time to our couple, you, and the human growing inside of me, so I am allowed to do other things, like talk to my friend, just for a minute.” Then she stopped talking. Went back to her phone, and the car was as silent as ever.

It’s never been that silent.

They’ve never been so pissed off at each other, they’ve swore to stop when they had to, calm down and apologize.

There wasn’t any apology.

Just the light sound of y/n’s fingertips hitting the screen. That was pretty much it.

“Marry me.”

That earned a chuckle from her girlfriend.

“I’m serious. Marry me.” Emily said, her voice sounding more serious, which led to Y/N turning to look at her, absolutely stunned. “I want… more.” She looked at her, “I love you more than anything, and what we have is perfect but I want more. I want the commitment, the rings, the married life— everything. With you. So…” she paused. “Marry me.”

Emily kept her eyes set on her, and y/n couldn’t either. Even if she was mad. Even if she didn’t know what to say.

But, something was in the back of her head. When she turned around, she didn’t have time to react.

Neither did Emily, before there was a crash and then everything went black.

The first thing Emily registered as her eyes opened was the texture of the airbag against her face. It was stained with blood— her blood. But she didn’t focus long about it, she couldn’t see y/n. She was nowhere near the seat.

As her eyes looked up, she saw her on the hood of the car.

She had gone through the windshield.

“Y/N!” Emily yelled, rushing to get her seatbelt off her as she rushed out of the car towards the front. The front of the car had been completely crushed by the impact when they hit the truck in front of them.

Y/N was on the front of the car, her breathing ragged and fast. She was covered in blood. Things didn’t look so good for her.

She remembered seeing the car. It got closer.

Then it crashed against theirs.

Emily was instantly out of her mind. She yelled at the driver to call for help, then proceeded called for help herself on her phone. “We need someone, right now! There was a crash and-and my girlfriend went through the windshield! You have to come right now!”

This definitely wasn’t what she had in mind for the perfect vacation.

There wouldn't even be any vacation to go on anymore.

Emily doesn’t remember what happened before she got off the ambulance, or she just doesn’t want to. She’s probably in shock, she doesn’t know. She thinks she dialed Spencer’s number or sent a message, somewhere through the ride.

She hated him a minute ago, but someone else had to know. No matter what, she can't forget he's the father of their child.

He probably called someone else, her guess would be Derek, or Hotch— or hell, everyone. He probably did, they're part of the family. Of course they'd come.

That is if they’re not already on a case. Not everyone would be able to leave. Just him. She guessed.

Y/N was out of sight as soon as Emily entered. She wasn’t allowed further in the room, simply left to stay outside. She was completely panicked.

Knowing the doctors there didn't help. There were all blurry faces. Just people moving around.

Was it all her fault?

She was the one driving. She didn’t look at the road.

Why would it be empty? It’s not a private road.

She swore it wasn’t there.

Was it?

Emily could register the dried blood on her forehead, the wound was still exposed, she didn’t even let anyone touch it when they saw it. She was too worried about her girlfriend.

If she hadn’t thrown the phone out of her hands she would’ve kept her seatbelt on. Maybe then her injuries wouldn’t have been so bad. Maybe the baby wouldn’t be in danger either.

She couldn’t stop blaming herself for that.

She asked Y/N to marry her, and this truck came out and they crashed right into it.

They didn’t even get to spend a full day together, not one without injuries or worries or yelling or whatever came with Emily’s job. She didn’t think Y/N would ever be the injured one. She never intended to.

It pained Emily to see the state she was in compared to what she had.

All of this because of a stupid phone, and because she had to ask her in marriage in the middle of the road.

She was the one driving.

“Fuck.” Emily said, running her hands in her hair. Next thing she knows, Spencer is walking in, yelling her name.

He’s running towards her, panicked. “What the hell happened Emily? Is she... oh god.”

Y/N was being rushed out of the room.

She seemed worse. Way worse. She had gotten intubated. Fuck, Emily hated herself so much for that phone. Spencer was just there, out of his mind and she didn’t know what to say.

None of them had time to even say a word before she was wheeled out of the room by at least ten doctors, and she was gone again, rushed in an elevator. She was just gone again.

“I asked her to marry me and a truck came out of nowhere.” Emily said, eyes still glued to the elevator’s doors.

“How did she… how did this even happen?” Spencer asked.

“She took her seatbelt off. And she went through the windshield… when we hit that truck.”

“Why on earth did she take it off in the first place?”

“To text you! ” she yelled, facing him. “I got mad because she was talking to you again, and I chucked her phone out of her hands! That’s what happened! I was sick of hearing about you !”

And then the silence fell. They looked at each other, and then she was crying, kneeling down to the floor as her face fell to her hands.

She hated this day.

The clock struck midnight, and they still remained sitting in that waiting room. Emily knew it by heart now. The number of seats, the posters on the wall— blood donation, STDs testing, retirement houses, or that damn smiling family on the insurance one. They don’t know how much she wanted to rip their faces out when she could lose what they had on that stupid photo, then there was the same nurse that’s been ‘gossiping’ about her colleague that dated the whole service (as if it were any of her damn business) and she just wished chucking staplers at people’s faces would be legal.

She almost did it, when that nurse was stitching up her face. She wasn’t the nicest one.

To resume, Emily was in a bad mood.

She couldn’t bear hearing or seeing anything.

Not when Y/N’s life was at risk, and when she had the person that caused a part of this in front of her. Technically, it wasn’t Spencer, she was the one that caused her girlfriend to take off her seatbelt, but she did it because she had to text him.

So it’s a quarter (or something) his fault, at least. Maybe.

They haven't talked since her breakdown in the corridor. She just got up and sat and looked away. Looking back at it, it looked like two children after an argument. She felt stupid. Really stupid.

This could have been avoided.

If it wasn’t for these doctors she recognized coming in to see them to lead them to the room where Y/N was, she would’ve fallen asleep. This day had been too exhausting.

"Is there anything new?"

“She's stable for now. We stopped the surgery right now. We were afraid of further damage, so we have to see and wait if she makes it through the next 24 hours to go in again." Derek explained.

"The baby is also doing fine. We'll have to watch her as well." Addison said, before realizing he might have said something he shouldn't have. "Did you not know the…"

"We knew, we knew. It's okay." Emily dismissed.

“Is her state putting any risks on the baby, or the opposite?” Spencer questioned.

“There could be risks, eventually.” she answered.

“Would it be best for the baby to be taken out, then?” Spencer asked.

Addison sighed, “Well, we would need to know…”

“What we want to do.” Spencer interrupted.

"What about her, Spencer? What about what she would want us to do?"

“Why are we even talking about the baby?” Spencer asked, with an aggressive tone.

And then there was silence. Emily turned around, in disbelief.

“Are you being serious?”

“We just need to focus on giving her the best shot she can get.”

“Y/N wants her child !”

“Y/N wants to live.” Spencer insisted on the last word.

“We all want to! But what is it going to be like when she wakes up and her child is gone, Spencer?” Emily snapped.

“And what’s her life going to be like if she’s dead? We can just have another child, but we can’t have another Y/N!”

“Just say you want to fuck her again.” Emily wanted him to admit it, so bad.

“You’re still not over it, aren’t you? It’s not even a big deal. We just had sex a while ago and that’s it.” Spencer defended himself.

“It is a big deal.” Emily said, trying to make him understand.

“It’s not ! That or that kid isn’t! We can just have another one!"

“I can't believe you.”

“You can say what you want, but this is my family. I’m the father, Emily.”

“Do you want a medal for that? You’re not the only man in the world that can make children, in case you didn’t know about it."

“Okay, but in that case, I’m still the one she’s pregnant with. I am the father, you’re nothing!”

“You don’t even care about that baby! You didn’t care at all two minutes ago! That baby is way too young to be born! I don’t know all the risks and all that you know, but I know 23 weeks is not the time.”

“You think I don’t know? I know the risks!”

“Do you ? Because you haven’t been acting like you do.”

“I’m thinking about Y/N! Do you think I don’t care about it too, I’m the father!”

“Yeah, sure.”

“You never even wanted that baby in the first place, Emily. You never asked for it, so why do you think you have an opinion on it now?”

“You know what I didn’t ask for? You. You’re nothing, nothing. You’re basically just a sperm donor. This isn’t your relationship, not anymore, so…”

“I’m going to stop you right there. You don’t get to say anything again, this is my family. I am going to say that again, because apparently, you didn’t register it. I am the father, I am. You’re nothing. Just a bystander. You hear me? You're nothing.”

And that was it. Emily stood there, Spencer stood there, the doctors too and nothing else was said.

There was just this wall between them now.

After thirty minutes, or so spent in Y/N’s room, crying, looking at her, a bit of crying again, some praying (even if Emily wasn’t even into religion), she decided to step out for a bit to get a coffee, or whatever was available because most of the time, coffee machines at hospital are always broken, it’s a fact.

But if she had to pick a thing she liked in hospitals it would be the coffee, even if it can be bad because nothing compared to the rest. The injuries, being in the hospital or having someone you know hospitalized is the worst.

She doesn’t even know what to do.

She keeps wondering what she’s going to do if her girlfriend doesn’t make it. It’s probably bad to think about the worst already- when she could make it, but she can’t help but think about the other outcome. The worst one.

They haven’t even been together for that long, just about three years. That’s not enough. She needs more time.

Time that could be cut short because she was jealous of a guy she dated ages ago. Just because of that.

Emily can’t even imagine a life without her, she’s truly the first partner she’s been happy with. No one has treated her like Y/N does. She just made her feel special, all the time. Made sure Emily knew she was loved, was happy, she cared about Emily first, no matter what.

No one will ever replace Y/N, she’s sure of it. No one will be as perfect as her.

So, she needs her. She needs her to survive.

Walking through the corridors to the ICU again, she just hoped nothing happened while she was gone. Anything can happen in just a minute, she knows it.

When the room comes back into view, she can see Derek sliding the door shut, talking to Spencer as soon as he turns back to him.

“...soon to tell anything.” the man said. Emily managed to catch enough of the sentence to understand what was going on.

“She didn’t respond at all?” Spencer asked. Emily could hear the panic in his voice, along with the tugging on his fingers to probably calm his nerves.

“All she did was open her eyes. We tried making her follow commands but… nothing.” He responded. “Like I said, it’s just too soon to tell.” he ended, leaving with a polite nod after a short glance to the both of us.

“No good news for now. Great.” Emily said after the short silence that followed after the doctor’s departure. She shot a look at Reid, before sliding the room’s door open, shutting it after her.

He must have gone in when Emily was gone, so she assumed it was fine for her to walk in.

She sat by the chair, sighing at her girlfriend, still on that bed, the only thing moving being her chest, aside from all these machines around her. Beeping. Beeping. Beeping.

She wishes Y/N was moving something else, that she could be awake and talking.

It’s a few minutes before Emily stopped just staring and started talking, “Maybe he’s kind of right you know. He… might be, because legally I’m literally no one, I’m not related in any way to the child. But also, strangely, for some reason…” she paused. “I feel like I am related. Like I’m the baby’s mother. Truly.” she said, her voice faltering. “Can you…live? Can you do that, for us? We all love you in the team and I probably wouldn’t be the only one to miss you.”

She lowered her head, trying to fight the tears from coming. She cried enough today.

As she was about to leave, the machines suddenly started beeping like crazy. It was a matter of time before Spencer and two doctors rushed into the room.

“What happened?” Spencer asked.

“Her pressure is bottoming out.” the first doctor said. She didn't know him.

“Belly’s tight as a drum.” the other joined in. “It’s a flash pulmonary edema, her lungs are full of fluid right now. She has abdominal compartment syndrome as well.” She didn't know her either.

“She’s bleeding out, alert an OR that we’re on our way.” one of the doctors walking in ordered. They started unplugging things there and there, grabbing all the monitors, and even more people barged in. It was overwhelming.

Emily lived their arrival once again, Y/N being wheeled out, out of sight, and she was left there. Not knowing what might happen for hours. She was left in front of the door sign that read “Authorized personnel only”, watching all the crowd of doctors disappear in the corridor.

She felt helpless. Empty. She wasn’t Emily anymore, just a body standing there, paralyzed by fear.

When she felt herself being moved, she was surprised to see that Spencer was the one next to her. He probably hated her.

“Come on, let’s go sit down. You can’t keep standing there.” he said, reassuringly. “Can you hear me, Emily?” he asked when she didn’t answer.

“I…” she paused. “I can.” speaking with a weak voice, before following his lead. She didn’t walk away from his grip around her shoulders while they walked back to the waiting room, even with how much she hated him for what he had said. She would’ve probably fell down if he wasn’t there.

Spencer was the first to make another sound when they sat down, sighing deeply as he ran both of his hands from his face to his hair, keeping them at the top of his head.

“Shouldn’t we say a prayer, or something? She’s the kind of person to do that, when there’s something… bad.” Emily said, looking at her hands.

“I’ve been doing it since I came here.” Spencer harshly answered, and Emily didn’t even say anything about his tone, because she understood why. She was pissed too, even if she didn’t show it in her previous sentences.

Emily let out a sigh again, letting the silence drown the unsaid words.

When Emily was suddenly woken up to Spencer shaking her so she’d wake up, panic immediately rushed in.

“Did something happen? Is she…”

Spencer tightened his grip on her shoulders, “Hey, she’s fine… they’re fine.”

“What do you mean…they?” Emily asked.

“They had to get the baby out. Both her and Y/N are fine.”

Emily immediately felt tears in her eyes. “Are you serious? They’re okay?”

“I wouldn’t lie to you about that, Emily.”

“Can we…” she said, getting up from the chair. “can we see them?”

“Of course.”

“Emily?”

“Yeah, Spence?” she answered, somehow surprised at the use of the nickname. It felt weird after their numerous arguments, and after all the silence when they stared at their daughter, and walked back in front of the room.

“You’re not nothing.” he said, as Emily turned her head to meet his eyes. “We had this kid together. Up to this day, we took care of it, you and me. You acted like a mother and I…acted like a dad, as best as I could. I’m sorry for what I said.”

“It’s… we were both frustrated.” Emily said. “She’s going to wake up, don’t worry. She’s made it this far.”

Spencer opened his mouth as if he was going to speak, but nothing came out, until a few seconds later. “Do you want to go in…first?”

“You can come too.” Emily said and she slid the door open, letting Spencer sliding it shut as he stepped in.

She tried so bad to convince herself that Y/N looked better since the last time, she seemed like she did. At least the machines weren’t beeping like crazy.

That was a good sign.

She stepped up to her bed while Spencer still remained in the background, watching. He seemed terrified.

She sat down, giving a smile to Spencer before glancing back at Y/N. “Hey, uh, we saw her, you know. She’s… really small, she only weighs one pound. That really freaked me out at first, but she’ll make it. You made it this far, so she will as well. She probably got your strong genes, she made it, even with all the complications that were implied with a birth at 23 weeks.” she explained. “She’s really beautiful, she has your hair. She hasn’t opened her eyes yet, but I can tell she was… somehow looking for you, asking for you. So, get well soon so you can see her, okay?” Emily asked, keeping her eyes on her for a minute before going back to staring at her own hands.

“These past days have been horrible.” Spencer said.

“I’m going to be afraid of cars for a while, probably.”

“I wouldn’t blame you for that.” he answered.

“...yes.”

The whisper quietly spread in the room, making both of the agents’ heads snap towards it.

“Y/N?” Emily called.

“I’ll marry you.”

The Cooler:

one of the most underrated episodes of s6 and the whole show imho!! not only did it set up pb's character development for both the s6 finale and the first of half of s7, it also gave fp a much needed spotlight in figuring out where and how to take her own arc (even if cut short by how cn treated the show later lmao)…….. like, what if you are more than a thousand years old and leadership and sacrifice transformed you into something you don't quite recognize anymore and the person who brought this brutally honest mirror up to your face is someone you can see as a smaller, younger version of yourself as a leader…… what if you see a person with self-proclaimed authority undermining your autonomy and self-actualization again and not flinching away from it but STANDING UP not only for yourself and your people!!! c'mon!! tasty tasty narrative foils to each other in a way nobody could've seen coming… like c'mon!!! ALSO ALSO the insane mad scientist woman vs superpowered fire teenager fight? incredible. showstopping. the ending of the episode having pb giving away even a tiny bit of control she felt she had to have all over her life and other people's in order to not come crashing down, breaking off her survellaince system? breathtaking, even more so in the context of what later the show took her character; so in conclusion: the cooler is one of the best episodes of AT and to accomplish this much in only 11 minutes is insane

The Visitor:

A life-changing episode for me, and for Finn. It showcases beautifully the differences between Finn and Martin, and delivers the powerful and important message that, no matter how hard you try, sometimes the people you want to love will not have your best interests at heart, and it's not wrong to let them go, even if they're your flesh and blood.

Man i like AND im rooting for buddie but (and ik im 100% getting attacked for this) they aren’t the main part of the show. They aren’t!!! Season finale is been out for like 2 hours and already I’ve seen people make 284848585 think pieces of why the show should be over bc buddie didn’t go canon. Like…. The white men maybe being queer are not the main representation of this show or the main importance pls. The main importance is def the family the ENTIRE 118 found in each other. And even if buddie goes canon the main queer rep is Hen. You know, the black lesbian with an family????????? (Which like…. You rarely EVER see on tv??????).

You can be mad at buddie not going canon but also to talk as if the entire writing should be jusged based on buddie like…. I need y’all to wake up a little idk.

Just feels like all characters and storylines are often forgotten or ignored to focus on buddie sometimes. Or maybe because i do like buddie and interact with the content is what i see majority of fans taking priority on.

To me the season finale was so good!!! Because it was everyone just freaking out and looking for each other and then bobby. And any ep where they all take a moment to remember bobby is their adoptive father is an A+ for me sjdjfjdj i adore ALL relationships with Bobby they are so precious. Buck taking charge was also amazing???? Hen wanting to take care of everyone???? Eddie trying to ignore his own pain to constantly worry about everyone else??? Saving Chim??????? Loved it!!!

I do agree the eddie and Buck girlfriends storylines were off. Eddie’s not THAT much. Buck’s was bc Natalia had just cared for him dying so idk why they are portraying it like they have such an emotional bond lmao??? Its mostly been how she was fascinated he died and then being uncomfortable he was a sperm donor (which i dont get why????? Ppl do it for money all the time lmao is not like hes a dad at all). But i do think the writers knew chances were very high for a s7 so im guessing they didn’t necessarily plan for a series finale. Like it was a risk but i think most of their cards were on a s7. Which we thankfully had!!!

I love buddie but i dont think it will ever be canon. Thankfully im not watching just for them so i still enjoy the show. So I was reading your post on rewatching the pilot of Gilmore Girls and specifically regarding ASP's attachment to Christopher: do you believe she favored that pairing for Lorelai or just had trouble writing a stable relationship in the series, period? My feeling was always that she was kind of stuck with Luke and Lorelai (because they were more popular and the narrative singled them out early) but always personally preferred Christopher and enjoyed finding any opportunity to stick him into the show (then again, Christopher's not in AYITL in any meaningful way, so maybe not).

One major difference I have with other L/L fans is that many of them seemed to believe if ASP were in charge of season 7, Luke would forgive Lorelai for banging Christopher right away, they would forget about that incident, and go on to get married and have babies right away. That whole thing sounds tremendously unfair to everyone involved, but it seemed to be a dominant opinion: ASP didn't want to write Christopher/Lorelai, the season 7 writers did. I always got the sense that ASP really, really wanted to write Christopher full time and relished the opportunity to do so.

I remember reading that GG came to be because Warner didn't like any of the other things ASP proposed to them before. As much as ASP has legend status in the fandom, network mandates are as real a thing as studio mandates are.

If you want a cynical take on this... I do think ASP does have certain classist biases (I'm still thinking of the absolute horrified dirty eye the AYITL narrative gives to the very notion of Rory becoming a Chilton teacher, like working for some Buzzfeed knock off was scores better) besides the fatalism, so... would she have wanted an arrangement by which Lorelai ends up back in the high class life with a high class life partner? I think so. I mean, Jason does end up becoming a regular for the season he's there. But if that was the case, most certainly javajunkie was an element of network mandate, and she would not have been allowed to make anything else endgame (which would also explain the extremely petty way in which she torpedoed the relationship by the end of s6).

By the point we are in AYITL, she cannot really pretend S7 didn't happen. That ship sailed because Lorelai went as far as to marry Christopher and divorce him. It's not something you can shrug off the way you can pretend Logan regressed because he was so very young and his business imploded and he had to go home. So one way or another her hands were tied.

There's also the possibility that she just... didn't want Lorelai to marry anyone, and just keep her options open and go back and forth between whoever her fancy favored at certain points.

I think what was written for s7 is the natural progression of that outcome. Lorelai realizes, finally, that she keeps going back to Christopher because she thinks of him as the one that got away, and that she needs to see it through, either to make it happen or to be able to move on. She gives it a try, it doesn't work out, and because of that she's now able to really move on from him and really truly start a new life with someone else.

The ending of s6 makes s7, no matter who is in charge, a catch 22 situation. You either follow through with the Christopher/Lorelai relationship until it runs its course, or Luke's immediate forgiveness cheapens the relationship and basically turns him into some doormat/lamp man-toy for Lorelai, with nothing saying she won't go back to Christopher AGAIN whenever she's mad at him for having hard boundaries. That's not really a good option for a ship one loves. So even if she DID get s7 and wrote it as a shrug-off to the ending of s6, it wouldn't have been satisfying at all.

Whatever she was thinking of doing, the ending of s6 was long planned and not a last minute petty attempt at destroying the series when she was not renewed for s7. At least to me it was set up as early as s5 when Lorelai went to spend the night drinking with Christopher after his father died. So if you ask me, I'd say the Christopher/Lorelai relationship would have happened through s7 anyways with ASP in charge.

my last post because I just watched a video from 716 but after this post I won't rant anymore about the 100 except in the tags lol here's the thing, it's not even just bellarke wasn't endgame or that they never even kissed or said ily though those things I'll always be mad about but if they weren't going to have them end up together they should've just left him dead in the beginning of s7 then bellarke wouldn't of been tainted and trust me I still adore them completely they'll always be otp but then bringing him back just to kill him and how they did it angered me and always will ugh no they brought him back making us think she'd save him just like he did in s6 but no they had her kill him and I think they did that to say a final f u to bellarke shippers because why else do it it literally made no sense, clarke could've NEVER killed bellamy and anyone believing she could even to save madi watched a different show!! she couldn't kill him to save the human race and never could've killed him to save madi idc!! sorry but s7 doesn't exist, it made absolutely no sense, all the characters were ooc and it was boring af!! them not even grieving for him let alone trying to save him was ooc and never would've happened so s7 is not the 100 I know or love it's a completely different show, a terrible season and was unnecessary!! the show ended at 613 end of the story!!

I was thinking just as I was walking to work this morning that one good heart to heart after the s7 finale and their relationship would have been on the most rock solid ground it's ever been - they were so close... Plus so much of Morse's s8 angst could be avoided. But of course the only way anyone gets that heart to heart is via forcing it out of them via plot lmao .

sorry for taking a million years to answer this, it's turned into a whole thing where I was like, oh maybe I should look at the notebook where I was writing this because I've had a whole year in succession fandom between now and the last time I worked on this. And despite the fact that the notebook must be somewhere in my house, it is nevertheless comprehensively lost 🫠.

BUT. the idea was basically Morse and Fred getting released from police custody on a 'don't leave town while we A) read through the documentation you brought B) investigate for ourselves and C) try and fish Talenti's body out of the canal so we can verify all this, also please refrain from shooting anyone else' order. And they've been up all night in questioning, and since Fred came straight there, he has no accommodation, so for at least the first bit he's going to be stuck sharing a room with Morse. On the back of a year long feud and that letter that had undertones of a suicide note.

I do think that at very least they were going to have the the "were you going to let talenti shoot you because you got tricked by the girl and because I was mad at you" conversation because i think it's actually out of character for Fred to let that go, given how they talk in earlier seasons after other crises. Esp Trove and Ride.

now, because I'm a dirty shipper, there was going to be dirty shipper backstory because it was how I was trying to rationalize the s7 feud after the s6 reunion. I had come up with the idea of a morse/fred affair that happened while win had left him, spurred partly by morse's jealousy of box's interest in fred driving him to force a confrontation where an 'acting on previously simmering but never acknowledged feelings' moment or series of moments happened. but that when fred and win reconciled it was 'understood' that what passed between morse and fred was over and would never be spoken of again (in theory) so even though morse needed him to be the 'good man' who valued his marriage the most of all, he still resented fred's putting him aside, and thus the extreme bitterness of s7... and they were going to have to talk about that baggage, too, given enough time stuck in italy.

i have a feeling that's not really what most of the morse and thursday fandom wants to read about though, which is why I didn't go very far with it. it might be worth carving something less partisan out of though, idk. I'm trying to push myself to widen my appeal to mainly the platonic relationship. It's tough though, because deep down I am just a dumb dirty shipper at heart 😅🙈. i know there's a lot more to their relationship than that though! there's a lot to dig into from a lot of angles! Affair and subsequent bitterness is just what I could come up with at the time, bc the contextless shift in the relationship in s7 was such a shock.

Hey I was wondering about you opinion of buffy in season 7 if you don't mind sharing.

For me, I feel like they Xanderfied Buffy in season 7. The things she says may have some points but the way she says them makes me mad because it lacks any sympathy for others like what Xander usually does. Like when the potential killed herself or her telling robin to back off on killing spike. This is probably unpopular opinion lol

well I have conflicting thoughts on s7 (also keep in mind I’ve only seen it once). when watching it I felt like it was a lot for a last season where they’re introducing all this new stuff and so many different characters. idk if you’ve seen angel but in comparison to btvs, I feel like its final season works better and it’s similar to buffy wherein the frameworks of the show are shifted (all these potential slayers as opposed to just buffy and faith, and the angel investigations team joining what has been their enemy since s1)

for one, buffy has been through so much and they turn her a bit into a hardened general here which I can understand to an extent. sorry I know this is about buffy but I’m going to compare her here to angel in angel s5 because he’s a bit of an asshole in that season but it’s understandable given all he’s been through, the compromises he has to make on a daily basis, and what the show is going for- which is the concept of selling out and joining corporations. for buffy she’s a general now commanding her army, and she had been deeply depressed in the previous season. so I think it is reasonable for her be a bit cold in this season. but I love her and it makes me sad seeing her like that even if it makes sense because I want things to be alright for her. she’s kicked out of her own home by people who used up her money and lived in her house when she died and then brought her back against her will to be like lol we don’t have any money! I think I’d become more jaded too. also Ik smg was getting tired of playing buffy at that point. so I can rationalize buffy’s actions but I can totally understand where you’re coming from because it can seem a bit jarring

a thing that bothers me about buffy in s7 is the prioritization of spike like you mentioned with robin and spike. I get that she feels spike is the one person on her side and who she has been able to confide in for the past two seasons but STILL the line where she said she’d let spike kill them… two of the most pivotal parts of her life are when she killed her first love for the world and killed herself over dawn for the world and now she’s saying she’ll let spike kill people if they got out of line. that doesn’t sit right with me!

This bit - with his father pointing a gun at him point blank, and nothing in Ivan’s experience leading him to believe he’d do anything but pull the trigger with pleasure, and the Nazi leader promising him a permanent cure if he just lets go of his plan to bash in the machine containing Nazi leader’s frozen, sick daughter - makes me think of when Ivan refused to turn Maria over even though that means he’d not get the medicine and thus die and Maria might not even be saved because all that mattered that it wouldn’t be him betraying her.

Because on one hand there is certainty of death without even much probability of success (he might very well be shot before he breaks the glass) and on the other the promise of life, all for the cost of putting his own life above a loved one’s.

And Ivan’s choice is, once again, the same. He takes a look at barely conscious Julia and even with a gun pointing at him point blank and the offer of salvation at hand, prepares to bash in the glass.

The sole decent thing Noiret has ever done for Ivan was to lower that gun. I guess shooting him point blank was his breaking point; I think though even that might not have been a no-go zone except for Noiret bonding with his bio kid and mellowing out a tiny bit and especially the last convo they had with Noiret perhaps wanting to live up in a tiny way as to how that kid thinks he’s an awesome dad to his older brother.

And then as Wolf frantically tries to fix the apparatus, Ivan gets Julia out of there. As Noiret stares. And this is the last time the two will see each other - fittingly it’s Noiret’s moment of mercy that dooms him with his buddies. But how fitting that the end of that relationship is not Ivan getting vindication or vengeance for all the abuse or Noiret repenting (he is incapable) or really anything. Because having the man out of his life permanently is all Ivan wants and the best for him.

Awwwww. You know, it is not at all surprising he does insane things in s7 - breaking up with her so she won’t be hurt, giving her last medicine he has so she’d live even a little longer etc. He clearly has no stops when it comes to her.

And season 6 ends - with Wolf finally dead (thanks to Camilo, who also prevented Eva from being put inside that machine again) and got to taste what it’s like to be defeated and lose a loved one before death. Vicki finally blew up and told Elsa about horrors going on in the school she runs. Marcos rescues Paula. But Fermin has been infected and sent into the world to spread and it might be too late when he realizes it. Oh, and the vial of virus just exploded in school, seemingly dooming everyone inside it to a brutal death.

We only have one season left, which I am sure for all of you going wtf at my posts is a relief. I am mad excited since it’s my fave season, aka the writers decided since they are about to be done, they will take a whole whump and torment factory of hammers to Ivan. It’s the apotheosis of photogenic suffering and breakdowns and I cannot wait!

You are absolutely right,Kris.That was clearly her claim to 5 seconds of relevance moment.I don't know if she did anything after tvd and I never kept track of that verse or any discourse related to it after the show ended.But if that tweet was able to reach me along with some of her recent commentaries of possible "relationships", then she knew exactly what she was doing.Maybe drumming up support for a possible reboot?Yeah I heard that one too recently( 'perks' of having a tvd obsessed teen niece,you see).

I was reading your s1 review earlier and quite enjoyed it.Do continue if time permits you.I haven't had the time or interest to rewatch TVD again.This was the first show I was emotionally invested in and by the end of it,JP made sure I would never wanna go back to it.

I do miss Stefan-Caroline a lot though.I miss Stefan "Where do I belong" Salvatore,who had me intrigued the first time I met him in September, 2009 even though my friend made me watch the pilot for Ian.I miss my baby girl,Caroline "I try so hard" Forbes".The treatment of Caroline Forbes in that season was beyond horrible although I would say s7 was on that same level.Ironically, that was not a KW season but ran by that demon.

I do quite agree with your analysis as to why Plec didn't go back to SE even though she had the perfect opportunity to.The Human Stefan storyline almost had me convinced they were going in that direction which was probably why I had a hard time sitting through the last few episodes.TVD had become so emotionally draining.Caroline-Stefan scenes were like a bright light in a sea of Awfulness that show was.

Hey Anon, I believe she's done a few things since the tvd 'verse ended but I do know that unlike TO and TVD Legacies did not get an official final season. Their series finale was supposed to work as both a season and series since the CW had been sold and JP knew it was possible the show could get cancelled. So I think that's why she's trying to get something done now. I absolutely believe her tweet was to engagement bait for either for herself or whoever is interested in the TVD 'verse continuing again to see how much interest is still there. Although I have no idea what could be in the works, I know at a con in December the question was about a movie but I'm not sure enough of the original main cast would be willing to return to make that happen. I mean majority of the characters are dead or human and I know a few actors have said they wouldn't be interested in returning (Kat, Ian and Paul) so I'm not sure what kind of movie she could make lol. Candice would probably come back (and since I'm a sucker that's all I would need) and maybe Nina (mostly I don't think she's a hard no) but I'm not sure that's enough for anyone to agree to finance this. Of course Teen Wolf got their awful movie financed so I could be completely off base.

The rewatch has been enjoyable so far (it's easier when you know the ending lol) and honestly S2 has been so much more engaging and interesting to me than S1 so I should have the first half of that season done this week. When I get to S7 is gonna be such a buzzkill from S6 I am so not looking forward to that slough especially the first half. I will always dislike Dries for what she did to Steroline that season UGH makes me mad just thinking about it.

Ha! The show became so emotionally draining that season worrying about what would happen. I hate the human Stefan storyline (I especially hate the STUPID CURE and how the rules change for how it works every time it's mentioned!) though I did enjoy how much he hated being human because the fandom always believed he wanted that but really HE HATED not having vampire powers. He only wanted to be human because of his addiction to blood, and don't even get me started on how him being a "reformed ripper" in S6 got completely dropped in S8. I do agree in a way about some of that awfulness and it's the same for me, while I did enjoy a majority of the seasons overall in the series the bright spot was 1000% Steroline, to me they're the best thing the show ever did. Now that I'm up to S2 in my rewatch it just reminded me of how good their slow burn was.

I was just here thinking about how I've been in this fandom for roughly three and a half years now and how it all came to pass and how life is a bitch, you know.

I was just minding my own business, lalala, and then a freaking vampire teen show on the CW decided not to give me my promised endgame, and that made me so ??? indignant ??? I had to start reading and writing fanfiction. And now three and a half years later I'm still here, more obsessed with the pairing than I had ever been while the shows were airing, all because they wouldn't deliver on this basic promise.

I mostly dislike everything that happened to the TVDu after S5 of TVD. Few scenes here, few characters there, whatever. But I didn't enjoy it anymore. It didn't SPARK JOY. And yet I was really chill about it. I see people getting legit mad at showrunners and stuff, and while I understand the feeling, I never really shared that hatred because I was always willing to accept that TVD was just going to be bad. And there's nothing wrong with that! lol I enjoy the bliss of crappy TV. Bad, absurd, nonsensical shows can make for really great entertainment. Not everything has to be Six Feet Under, you know. And when I started watching TVD, I think mid-season 3 was already airing, or maybe s4 was about to start, so I had a pretty good idea what I was getting into, never had any expectations about what a teen drama on the CW was or was not going to deliver. I was chill.

So when it went from bad-but-actually-good to just bad, I was just shrugging, rolling my eyes and going 'ok', because all I wanted was my endgame. That's the only reason I was watching it. I was never drawn to TVD as a whole, the storytelling was never that compelling to me, the world building never truly gripping, and while the first 3 seasons were REALLY good (S2 and 3 are awesome, come on), what kept going back every week was Klaroline. And I figured, even after S4, one day the crossover will happen, they will bring those two back together. There's no way they're just gonna throw this out. I was willing to wait patiently for it. However long it takes.

Not really though, because I ended Marie Kondo-ing the shit out of that and quit TVD on S7 and couldn't make it past the beginning of TO S3, so I dropped both. But every six months I would hop on Google and type 'Klaroline crossover'. Something told me one day it would come. When S5 was finally announced, I felt PEACE, man. I was like YES, FINALLY. I KNEW IT. I felt REWARDED. I EARNED this.

And here's the thing about me: all my ships die. It's just a curse I carry with me that I'm sure I will pass on to my children, and my children's children, and their children after that. The curse of being eternally heartbroken and frustrated over fictional characters. It's awful here, guys. Real life sucks and then THIS, you know. So unfair.

It's so, so rare for me to actually have a ship that gets me INVESTED. Even when I like characters/a show/a pairing, for me to have PERSONAL FEELINGS towards them, it takes mountains moving and planets aligning. And so far, whenever it has happened, someone died. I NEVER got my endgame. EVER. And when I wrapped myself around Klaroline like a snake around a little calf it wants to devour, it was because I, fool that I am, thought there was NO WAY a teen vampire show wasn't going to give me my endgame, especially when they had been hinting at it for YEARS. TVD LITERALLY ends with them saying Klaroline was endgame. I had just had my heart ripped apart by The Good Wife and Homeland. Torchwood, my OG fandom and only other time I ever got into fanfiction, killed my soul. Cowboy Bebop, my baby Yokie ship? Dead. Beautiful, poetic, I fully support it - but also, consider my heart.

I saw these two vampires, VAMPIRES, and I thought: wow, I'm finally safe. It's the BASIC understanding of teen shows that ships need to happen. You don't cheat teenagers, dude. You don't break their hearts. That's just mean. And then when S5 was announced, I knew I had been right all along. I watched that mess and I was like "They have Nazi vampires in this season and Klaus is out there saying shit like 'They hate me because of what I am' [a hybrid, not a mass murderer psycho who's also essentially an asshole *affectionate*], but hey - it'll be fine. Klaroline will be endgame. Nazi vampires don't matter. Klaroline matters."

I was chill, dudes. I was very chill. Compared to how vitriolic people have been about TVD over the years, I was just CHILL.

And then they betrayed me. While I will argue that Klaroline ended up being *the* endgame pairing, since Elijah essentially worked to get Hayley killed (hahahaha dude wtf), and Caroline and Klaus were *it*, as we always knew they would be, I was just... Livid. I could not BELIEVE what those bitches had done to me.

This was me:

They put me through NAZI VAMPIRES, YOU GUYS. Klaus was like 'Oh no, they are killing wolves, because they are LIKE ME' when he basically spends his entire TVDu career HATING and KILLING wolves himself. And it was all for NOTHING.

I can take shows like The Good Wife killing my ships. I was destroyed, but I can take it, because shows like TGW aim to be 'superior drama'. They are going for the awards. I don't feel cheated by them. But The Vampire Diaries? Are you effing kidding me?

I had been watching TVD for years before that fateful day in August 2018 when Klaus turns to glittery dust without having ever felt like reading fanfiction. But I remember I finished that episode, got my computer, and went straight to AO3. From the ashes of my indignation, an urge was born. And I've been here ever since.

I wasn't even asking for a *good* finale. I had long abandoned any notion that this show, which featured Nazi vamps and a snowflake baby that grows up to kill the mom who basically raised her all by herself, was going to give me *good*. I just wanted it to BE, period. All I wanted was to collect my fan service and be done with it. I'm easy to please, I'd be happy. If they'd given me that, I would probably not be here right now. AND YET.

Why am I writing all this? I have no idea. I was just thinking about it. Life, huh? Just as pointless as this post.

The thing is Hunk was supposed to have his own character building arc thats true to his characterization (aside from the Balmera) but I guess it was cut post production. Lauren Montgomery said he was training to be a diplomat under Allura and Shiro’s guidance and I can see bits and pieces of something like that scattered through the seasons. Not to mention that’s kind of what he ended up being in those end cards.

That would have been true to what Hunk is as a character and jumping off what he has learned after the Balmera.

People get mad at us for saying this but the earth arc they gave him in s7 was really out of nowhere. And this isn’t meant to disrespect Hunk at all but it says a lot when he doesn’t gain anything from that kind of writing and the clear lesson wasn’t about him at all: it was about affirming Keith’s position as leader and showing that Keith is the one who grew. Hunk is a very consistently written character and that whole arc was ten steps back and two feet sideways for him.

I would have loved to see Hunk training to be a diplomat (and I can see hints of that in the series finale).

The Balmera was very important for Hunk as a character, because it was the first thing to show him just how serious this whole thing actually was. It showed him the stakes. And I would have loved to see them build his character arc using that as the starting point. I would have loved to see them show his kindness and compassion by remembering Shay and her people and what they had been through. I would have loved to see his character shown because he was the one who always thought of the people first, and how Voltron's actions would effect them. This would have been the stepping stone on his path towards diplomacy.

But alas.

And...you're not wrong.

Character growth has to be earned. It has to make sense, and it has to be founded in something.

I remember watching that scene and being taken out of it because when Keith said out of everyone, he was most impressed by Hunk I found myself thinking "where did that come from?"

This is what's most frustrating about the show. It's like you're digging through a pile of dirt and every once in a while you come across a diamond. You found a lot when you started digging, and you kept going because you thought there could only be more the further you go. But they started to become fewer and the further you went.

But they were still there. Little gems of scenes and moments that made you think "this is amazing, I hope this pays off."

But again, alas.

The scene between Hunk and Keith about Hunk's family would have been such an amazing pay off if it had been the culmination of their character arcs toward each other.

But instead (AND HEAR ME OUT, HERE) all I got from that scene was this image and the knowledge that maybe Keith enjoys being manhandled just a little bit. ;)

Because look at that and try to tell me he's not experiencing a very specific type of panic right there.

Okay, guys, gals and nonbinary pals. It's time for the season 6 finale! As always I'll also put my thoughts bout this season as a whole into this part. Hope you enjoy!:

Remember when I said that this show couldn't get more anime, when Sailor Moon appeared? Well now they've got a sword...... that's on fire

Pidge you just send you lion head/Voltron's fist flying towards Lotor. Weren't you sitting in that?

Allura, why won't you leave Lotor in the quintessence-realm? Do you still have feeeeliiiings?

Is it done? Is the ass dead?

Sailor Moon hasn't said a word the last few episodes. But simply by standing next to Allura, I know that this ship exists

I love the idea of them saving the universe, while having all of their shit packed into the lions

Hunk, what kind of eagle-eyes do you have to have seen this castle-diamond-thingy?

I don't really care about Shance. But I appreciate the scene of Lance angsting over Shiro

Heeeeey!!! "Shiro" is Shiro again!

But why the fuck is all of his hair white (gray?) now?

Also, wouldn't it feel fucking weird to just like not have your body anymore. And instead someone else's. Even if it's an exact replica of you....

But, also: SHEITH!

They're finally going to earth!!!! I've predicted it since season 2 and now it's finally happening!

Thoughts on the season as a whole:

I really, really liked this season

Seriously, better than season5 and much better than season4

Many good episodes, fave was probably "Cheaper by the dozen, but it's just Shiro" because of !Sheith!

But the DnD episode was also really good

I disliked that Keith aged 2 years on the space whale, to bond with his mom

Because it wasn't acknowledged AT ALL. Even though 2 years is such a long time!

I'm still conflicted about this whole "Shiro was actually a clone" thing

Might actually make another "Rant"-post about this

(Also, in terms of foreshadowing: Apparently "Kuron" literally means clone. So I can see how that theory existed.)

(I just knew, that "Kuro" means black. And I thought that this was supposed to mirror the Shiro-white thing)

It's nice to have Keith back in the MAIN-main cast. Feels good to have him back. Missed him

Shiro is his own whole situation. I'm glad to have him back. I just hope that the writers won't fuck his character up

Lance had some serious self-reflection since season1. And I actually kinda enjoy him now. Being so smitten by Allura is kinda cute

Allura is weird. She's got that whole angst/confidence issue going on, because she was fooled by Lotor. But honestly, she's kind of right. She really should have been more suspicious of him

(Also: Why didn't you "die" this finale?)

Pidge is my sassy, unhinged nerd daughter. And no one can take that away from me

Hunk is my nerdy, sunshine boy who's a little bit too much into cooking. But I still love him, and he had some good scenes

Lotor's dead. Good. Finally. Hated him from the start. He was irredeemable ever since he killed Furry

Moustache man is great. I'm still mad that the fandom gave Shiro the title of "Space dad", when he's clearly so much more deserving of it

Krolia, Sailor Moon and space wolf..... seem interesting? They haven't had any real time to shine

Though I still absolutely love Sailor Moon's design

Sheith! There was so much Sheith! And that's great! So much content! And honestly, these two just have the best dynamic between all the characters

Allurance is cute. And I'm kinda rooting for it now. I just hope, that it won't be as one-sided anymore

Lotura had a kiss! But also, one of the people involved in this ship died. So.... I'm sorry for any Lotura shippers

Klance, Plance and Punk had a few crumbs here and there

Shallura starved the past few seasons, and is now a skeleton in the corner. It's cute, but there's like no canon content/potential anymore

Predictions/Hopes for season 7:

Are they gonna do a space road trip to get to earth? Will they make truckstops, sit in a diner and drink milkshakes?

When Voltron combines, do you think that everyone inside can just walk from one lion to another? I want them to just, float through space, combined as Voltron, living out their lives.

Seriously, just imagine them, basically using their giant-murder-robot as a house

Sorry, Allura. But I want Keith to replace you again. You can do your own thing with this castle-diamond-thingy and the team-constellation of S1 and S2 returns

ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT KEITH AGED 2 FUCKING YEARS!

Season 1+2 felt like one big arc, and it ended in a mech battle against Zarkon. Season 3-6 felt like one big arc and ended in a mech battle against Lotor. I'm gonna guess that S7+8 are the next big arc, which will also end in a mech battle, probably against space witch

I'm honestly expecting the worst, because everyone seems to dislike S7. So.... maybe I'll be positively suprised

I've noticed that the parts, where I just review 1 episode are getting more notes? Are these smaller, bit-sized parts better to read?
