“This week, temperatures on the rez will be dropping below zero and won't return to positive for several days. It is forecasted to get as low as -27 BEFORE wind chill is considered.
This is expected to be a very difficult time, especially for those who are without proper heating sources. Most homes rely on wood-burning stoves but firewood is in short supply and hard to acquire. It can also be very expensive. We have already begun to receive many calls looking for assistance - but we need your help.
One truckload of firewood costs about $200 - that is all it would take to get a family through these incredibly cold days ahead and prevent serious injury.
Thank you for supporting One Spirit and the Lakota people of Pine Ridge Reservation.”

he seizes up any opportunity to talk about you methinks
someone could fr be like
"omg look at that (f/c) flower! its so pretty!"
and percy, whos like 12 feet away would run up like
"DID YOU KNOW (F/C) IS (Y/N)'S FAVORITE COLO-"
at this point half the camp knows ur entire life story
lowkey. pollux loves percy.
he sees how happy he makes u and how well he treats you and is just like 'awwww'
DEFINITELY TEASES U THOOO
he also definitely doesn't see percy sneak into your cabin. no siree he doesnt. hes sleeping. goodnight.

there were vines literally tying him to the ground
you were laughing so hard and he was PANICKING. RIPTIDE WOULD NOT CUT THEMMM.
eventually when u stopped laughing you were able to get the vines to retreat, but percy is still scared to sit in the grass, so all picnic dates have been moved to the lake ♡
whenever ur practicing making wine and like have to test it, percy always takes a sip with you
cause obvi you gotta taste it and make sure your actually improving, so you both take a little sip together
it's his own way of saying that he trusts you and your talents

sometimes you'll help out the demeter kids and bring percy along
and hes just like speed running it i swearrr
you dont even know why fr. like he's just laser-focused
apparently, he doesn't know either, it just happens 🤷‍♀️
at the end of the day, when your done picking strawberries, you'll sneak a few in your pocket and share them with percy ♡
he doesn't care if he's developing back problems from being hunched over in the fields all day, your strawberry kisses are worth it ♡

Percy Jackson x Fem!Dionysus!Reader Synopsis: After a messy break-up and reader moves on, she realizes that no one can be Percy. Warning(s): cursing, allusions to sex(I basically said it I just didn't describe it), reader and Percy are 18 at the beginning. Word Count: 2770
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Percy met back when you first came to camp a few years ago. The two of you were never close, but you both had the same friends so you were friendly with each other.
One night a couple of the other campers decided to get together and throw a party. The party was in a deep neck of the woods where not even the harpies could locate. While everyone was dancing and having fun, you and your brother Pollux snuck off to bring some wine back for the party. When you and Pollux ran back with the wine everyone began to cheer and start drinking, and as quickly as you ran in, kids started getting tipsy.
As the party continued, it was now nearing 1AM. You decided to sneak off for a little bit to enjoy some quiet by the creek, only hearing faint sounds of music behind you. Along with the rest of the party, you yourself, despite being a daughter of Dionysus, were quite drunk. Your senses were off and before you know it, Percy came and sat down next to you, with a nearly empty bottle clutched in his hand.
"Hey Percy" you slurred out, causing the both of you to laugh a little. Dionysus kids were supposed to have a higher tolerance, clearly it's not showing.
"Heyy Y/N" Percy dragged out. You both sat there giggling for no apparent reason. You were both so intoxicated neither of you had a coherent thought for the past 30 minutes. You both were so intoxicated you didn't realize how close you were currently sitting. You both were so intoxicated you didn't realize you were both leaning in. And you both were so intoxicated, you didn't realize you two were now making out.
The kisses you both were sharing were hot and sloppy. The taste of the wine was dripping from the both of your mouths, and the need to take each others clothes off was absolutely suffocating. You both had ran back to Percy's cabin as fast as possible, trying your best not to stumble over each others feet. After you both made it you stripped of each others clothes and had a longgg and funn night.
When you had woken up at around.. 6AM?? You were fighting a massive headache, courtesy to the long night of drinking. When you finally came to your senses you realized the arm that is currently wrapped around you was Percy's arm. You tried to sneak out of bed while trying not to wake Percy, but failing miserably when you were trying to get up but slipped and rolled to the floor, creating a loud thump. You were groaning loudly as the Poseidon boy started to stir awake.
"Do you have to be loud while you sneak out, the whole point of sneaking is to be quiet." Percy muttered as he rubbed his eyes awake.
"Sorry.." Silence filled the room as Percy sat up and you both stared at each other. "We probably shouldn't have.."
"Well- we already did. And I know you had fun" you looked away as you were absolutely flushed in the face as you recalled last nights activities.
"Yeah um" you paused "yeah, but still.. I should probably start heading out." You grabbed one of the sheets and kept it tied around you as you started to pick up your clothes from the floor. Percy just stayed in bed, planning on returning to sleep after you left and staying in till noon.
As you finished getting dressed and headed toward the door Percy began to speak. "Hey, uh, don't be a stranger you know." You stopped and turned back to Percy, giving him a thumbs up before leaving. You stood outside the doors taking a deep breathe before running back to your cabin and slipping back into bed before your brother woke up and noticed you.
The rest of the week went by as normal, at least that's what you wanted to say. You and Percy still hung around the same people so things were kind of awkward for a while, thankfully no one said anything about it. The two of you silently agreed not to say anything about that night. You were just drunk.
At this point a month has now passed. You and Percy were past it and were actually now conversing as normal friends. Things were going good in your eyes.
One evening while Pollux was anyway for a quest, you were sat alone reading a book in your cabin and listening to the rain drizzle in from outside. Suddenly there was a knock at your door. When you went up and opened the door, you didn't expect to see Percy standing there. He was slightly wet from the rain, looking nervous.
You tilted your head at him, confused as to why he needed to get here in the rain so urgently. "Percy?"
Percy didn't respond before just leaning forward and kissing you. You began to kiss back, running your fingers through Percy's hair. Then you realized, you're running your fingers through Percy's hair. You pulled away and looked into Percy's glossy eyes.
"Percy! What is this" you said quickly. You didn't mind kissing him if you were being honest with yourself, but you had thought that this would never happen again.
"Please- I, I just reallyyy need you right now. Y/N please?" The desperation in his voice was kinda turning you on. You looked between his eyes and quickly down at his lips before jumping up in his arms and reconnecting your lips. As Percy began to walk toward your bed, you made sure to kick the door shut so no one got a free peak at what was about to happen.
And yeah, it happened again. And yeah, things were a little awkward again. Percy made the effort to talk to you, but you were still kind of confused with what the two of you were. While campers were finishing up their lunches, you sat high up in a tree playing with the leaves and growing some grape vines. As you plucked a grape off the vine and ate it, Percy had climbed up and sat in front of you, leaving you no where to run.
"Why are you avoiding me, I thought we stopped that" Percy spit out.
"Oh um, hey Percy" you didn't know what to say. You didn't specifically know why you were avoiding him, you just knew you didn't want to fall for a guy who only came looking for you when he was horny.
"Can you please answer me?" Percy was basically pleading.
"I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know?
"I mean, are you just using me? Because if you are can you just stay away from me" you begged.
"What makes you think that's all I care about?"
"You never come and seek me out, and last time you did was just to get in my pants. So what's your deal?"
"My deal is I don't know how to talk to you, but I know I like you."
"Are you serious?" Your eyes were wide. You really thought you were just being used.
"Very. I've been wanting to figure out how to just ask you out or something, but I don't know how. And after sleeping together its been awkward.." Percy looked down. "Not that I regret it though" you chuckled at the last part.
You smiled subtly as you reached and grabbed for Percy's hands, bringing him closer to you. Percy looked down at you, slowly leaning in and kissing you tenderly. Not even caring that your dad was roaming around somewhere.
After a few days, you and Percy were now officially dating. Your friends were utterly shocked when you told them the full story as to what happened between the two of you.
The next few months went by as a breeze, the two of you couldn't have been happier. Now of course, the honeymoon was coming to a close. The two of you seemed to have been arguing over the smallest things. Like 'why were the two of you so friendly?' or 'why couldn't you just do the one thing I asked of you?' These screaming matches made you both glad you didn't have siblings, or at least many of them, all the yelling would just lead to sex and to having a good next day, then the cycle would start back up.
Fast forward, today was now your one year anniversary. You had woken up In Percy's bed, just to turn over and see that he wasn't there. You decided not to think much of it as you just got dressed and left the cabin to find Percy. You began walking around till you saw Percy sparring with head Hermes counselor, Luke. You continued to make your way toward the two when Luke was the first to notice you.
"Hey Y/N" Luke greeted still fighting with Percy.
"Hey guys" you said.
"Oh hey Y/N, sorry for leaving earlier, just felt like working out" Percy said as he swung at Luke before they both stopped and put their swords down so Percy could talk to his girlfriend.
"Yeah no.. it's uh, fine." Did he not remember or something? "Anyways do you have plans or something later?"
"Um I think I'm leading a sword class for some of the younger campers later, why?" Oh.
"Um, no reason it's fine. I'm gonna head back to my cabin see you later" You rushed as you ran back to your cabin trying not to let the rushing tears fall from your eyes.
"Whats up with her" Percy questioned as he turned back to Luke who looked at him like he was the biggest moron ever.
"There's no way even I remember and you don't" Luke said bluntly.
"What are you talking about?"
"Percy. What day is it?"
"Um Tuesday, I think?"
"No dude, the date." Then it finally clicked in Percy's head.
"Holy shit, I'm such a dick. Look I gotta run" And with that Percy ran off to your cabin. He ran in and saw you curled up in your bed crying. He went to sit right by you as he began apologizing "Look Y/N I'm so sorry, please forgive me it just slipped my mind."
"Really? The day you finally asked me out just slipped your mind?" You said as you stood up, you sadness turning to anger. "Percy what are we even doing here?"
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying all we do is fight, when was the last time we had a good day that was followed up by another good day instead one full of fighting?" You wanted to say more but Percy cut you off.
"Look Y/N I'm sorry but please, we can work it out. Just please don't say it, don't say what I think you're going to say."
"I have to Percy. We aren't working. And us wanting it to work isn't what's going to make it work. We have to stop." You were basically sobbing at this point. And when you rubbed your eyes to remove the tears, you saw Percy was also crying at this point.
"No please I'm sorry don't do this."
"I'm sorry Percy" you kept crying. "Please just leave" you said the last part quietly, but loud enough for him to hear you. He didn't continue to fight you, he just began to leave. The second he left you went back to the spot in your bed you were curled up on and continued to sob.
The next few weeks were hell, but they were needed. You slowly began to heal and enjoy the argument free days you were having. On a sunny afternoon, you were hanging out with your friend Silena in her cabin while she gave you a makeover. It was something she enjoyed doing, so you just let her. As she finished up, her sister walked in telling her she needed her to oversee something as head counselor. When Silena began to walk out, she asked you to deliver something to Charles as the Hephaestus workshop, which you did.
When you got there and did what Silena asked of you, you made you way to leave. As you did so, you tripped on some left over scrap on the floor, falling toward the floor landing on your knees.
"Woah there are you okay" said one of the Hephaestus kids as he came up to you and helped you up.
"Yeah that's my bad, hopefully that wasn't anything important" you said sheepishly as you looked down at the scrap metal.
"Nah you're good don't worry about it" he then extended his hand toward you. "Anyways, I'm Caleb."
"Y/N" you said as you shook his hand. "Anyways I've got to head out, see ya around."
"Yeah," Caleb said. "I sure hope so" he whispered the last part as he watched you walk away.
The next few weeks, you kept seeing Caleb around. He continued to spark up conversations every chance he got and the two of you began to become friends.
After about a month into your friendship, things started to shift. Caleb started to shift at least. You noticed he'd try asking you to hang out alone more often, and he'd make you little things while in the work shop. Of course you found it sweet, and your friends in the Aphrodite cabin found it even sweeter. You weren't blind, you could see Caleb's budding crush that he had on you. You didn't want to stay hung up on Percy, so you tried to let your self get closer to Caleb.
At first it worked, you were having fun. It felt free to just hangout with someone without all the fighting. Until one day he took you out to walk by the river together. You both were just talking like normal when Caleb suddenly started to get quiet.
"Hey Caleb, are you okay? Why are you so quiet?" You stopped walking and just turned to look at him.
He got shy and was looking down at the floor before looking at you in the eyes. "I can tell you anything right?"
"Yeah I mean, that's what friends are for right?"
"Right.. friends." he said with a weird reluctance on the word 'friends.' And with that, he just leaned in and kissed you. You felt nothing. There were no butterflies, and no want to kiss back. Just a single tear sliding from your left eye.
When Caleb pulled away and say your expression he began apologizing profusely. You just shook your head and told him it wasn't his fault, but that you had to go. You apologized and started running as fast as you could.
Finally, you saw the famous sea-green cabin. You walked up and a few more tears had slid down as you started banging and banging on Percy's door, praying to the gods that he's in here and he answers. Which thankfully he did.
"Y/N? Are you okay whats wrong?" Percy looked concerned, like he still cared. That look alone made you feel more than the kiss you shared with Caleb.
"Percy, I'm sorry. I made a mistake. I thought we didn't work and I tried to move on. But oh my gods, there's no one ever who could compare to you. Fighting just showed we care-"
Percy's lips were pressed onto yours. His lips were so warm and familiar and you couldn't have felt better that they were back on yours.
"I hated seeing you with that fucking Hephaestus kid." He kissed you quickly before pulling away and saying "I'll be better, and I'll swear it on the river of styx. I'm never letting you go again." He whispered this last part. "And I don't want to see that Caleb kid sniffing around my girl every again okay?"
You giggled as you just brought him back into a kiss. That was something you didn't mind agreeing to and if you were Caleb, you also wouldn't have minded agreeing to it. This may have been the best make-up sex the two of you ever had.
Now the two of you were in over a year into your relationship. And when Percy swore it on the river of styx, he truly meant it. You guys weren't fighting and you learned to talk. You just needed the time apart to truly feel what you were missing. And now you both were happier and healthier than before. It was all just perfect.

When Percy returned to camp with Annabeth and Grover, they were hailed as heroes.
It might not have felt like it on the road, isolated with just the three of them, but they’d prevented a third World War. They certainly stopped camp from getting destroyed, if what Luke told them was true about the cabins taking sides.
Burning their burial shrouds felt even better, especially with the Ares cabin’s expert craftsmanship. Apparently it was a tradition because demigods died so frequently on quests—Percy took pride in breaking that unsettling standard.
It turned out all he needed to come into his own was to go on a quest everyone thought would kill him and not die.
He excelled during his sword fighting lessons—going against a god would do that for you—he’d gotten much better at using his powers—going against a god would also do that for you—and his team always dominated on the lake during races, though that might’ve just been him cheating.
He’d even started getting used to the Poseidon cabin in all its emptiness. It still felt too lonely, but he was working on it. The first thing he did when he got back to the cabin was pin your photo on the wall—Cabin Three belonged to you as much as it did to him.
And of course, everyone wanted to hear about how Percy saved the world. He’d told the story of his quest about a hundred times since he got back, sometimes with Annabeth piping in to set the record straight, sometimes with Grover dramatically setting the scene, always with a million different questions in between about how everything went down.
Tonight was no different in the amphitheater—a group of Athena kids wanted to hear about his fight against Ares again—but he managed to get out of giving them the excruciating play-by-play courtesy of campfire songs. Percy didn’t really mind, though—any night with a large, golden fire was a good night in his books.
Which was kind of how he ended up giving Luke the play-by-play of his quest. Maybe it was bragging, but he hadn’t seen who he considered his first friend at camp in a while. And yeah, sue him, but he wanted to impress Luke. He was cool and nice and good at everything, and Percy wanted to prove he’d made him proud.
“—And I thought I didn’t stand a chance, but she taunted me and told me to jump into the water if I was really Poseidon’s kid. So I did, and it worked, and somehow I lived.” Percy shook his head with a slight laugh. “It ended up all over the news. I was a nationally wanted criminal for a couple days. We also blew a bus up, and rode with a zebra and a lion to Vegas, and went to the Underworld— gods, we did so much. It was crazy, honestly.”
Luke chuckled. “I’m sure.”
Percy glanced over at him, his brows creasing when he saw his distant gaze. He didn’t think Luke heard a single word. “You good, man?”
He blinked and focused back on Percy, and though he smiled it was strained. “Yeah. Sorry—spaced out for a second. You were talking about your quest?”
Percy nodded slowly. “Yeah. The whole criminal thing.”
His smile turned a little more genuine. “You made front page news, too. I think you became the idol of a lotta kids here.”
“Oh, god,” he said with a frown. “You guys get news here?”
“Couple New York papers,” he nodded. “You’re camp-famous.”
Percy huffed a laugh and shook his head. “It feels crazy. I just got here a month ago, and everything’s already changed so much.” He looked over at Luke. “What did you do after you got home from your quest?”
“...It takes some getting used to,” he admitted with a shrug. “I mean, getting to camp after so many years on the road was rough—coming back to camp after getting this—” he tapped his scar— “didn’t help.”
“How did you get that?” he asked.
“You’re always trying to get the saddest stories out of me,” Luke said wryly. “You know you can read books, right?”
“I can’t, actually,” Percy said. "Not well."
Luke laughed and shook his head, his gaze falling back to the fire. Percy took it as him moving on.
“I— I know I’m kind of proving your point, but… I wanted to ask you if I could have a couple more pictures” Percy cleared his throat, brushing a few dark strands of hair out of his face. “Of my sister, I mean. Obviously, you have way more of a right to them than I do, but— but Cabin Three’s a little bare. I thought adding a couple current things to the old stuff she put up would be nice.”
His throat bobbed, and it took him a second, but he nodded. “Yeah. Yeah— sure.”
“Tomorrow after breakfast?” he asked. “I’ve got some free time before I have to go down to the forge.”
Luke nodded again. “Sure. You still have that picture I gave you?”
“Of course,” he said. “I already put it up on the wall. Do you want it back?”
His smile was bittersweet as he shook his head. “Nah. Like I said, you deserve to have a piece of her with you. And I’m sure she’d say the same.”
“I asked my dad about her, y’know,” Percy said. Luke’s eyes widened a bit as he looked back at him. “I went to Olympus on my own to return Zeus’s bolt, and the two of them were there. My dad and I got some alone time, and…” he shrugged. “I already annoyed two gods that day. Figured a third wouldn’t be that crazy.”
“What did he say?”
“That it was one of his greatest regrets,” Percy said. “And he’d never forgive himself for letting her die, and for what it did to her mom.” He glanced at Luke. “And to you.”
Luke’s chest stilled, his gaze going out of focus for a moment as a muscle worked in his jaw. He hid it well, but Percy knew. He’d spent enough time at home with his mom and step-dad, overheard enough one-sided arguments.
“You’re braver than me,” he finally said, and he stood up. “I’m gonna turn in—it’s been a long day.”
“I’m sorry, Luke,” he said. “And Poseidon is too, for whatever it’s worth.”
Luke didn’t look back at him as he started towards the path. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Percy.”
-
“Are you sure you’re allowed to put lights up?” Luke asked.
“Okay, Chiron,” you said cloyingly. “I didn’t know you were such a stickler for the rules.”
“I’m just worried about fire safety!” he exclaimed. “The Hephaestus kids nearly burn down their cabin at least five times a week.”
“They’re working with actual fire. These are just Christmas lights.” You glanced down at him and he handed you the next strand. “Besides, this is the safest cabin for possible fire hazards. And they look pretty—that’s all that matters.”
Luke chuckled as you hung them up, and he took a step back as you jumped off the chair and moved it to the other side of the room. You usually hung fairy lights, but with the holidays just around the corner, you wanted to make the place more festive. You asked Luke if he wanted to hang out with you while you decorated, and he obviously accepted. He took all the time he could get with you.
“It’s so quiet in here,” Luke said as you got back up, taking the next strand with you. “I’m not used to an empty cabin.”
“That’s what happens when you’re not supposed to be alive,” you mused.
“You of all people can’t say that.” He huffed a laugh and shook his head. “Do you ever get lonely in here?”
“‘Course not,” you said. “I’ve always got you following me around.”
“Can you blame me?” he asked. “Your company’s the best.”
You grinned and looked back down at him, and Luke gave you the next string of lights. “Or maybe you’re just a little crazy. You’ve gotta be to spend three years on the road with me.”
“Being around you is what’s kept me sane,” he corrected. “Especially in the Hermes cabin of chaos.”
You got up on your toes and lifted a leg up so you could lean to reach the last hook. “Oh, come on. Your siblings are so fun to be around!”
“Maybe in small doses,” he said wryly. “And be careful, gods—”
You looked down at him, your grin only growing. “Are you saying you’re worried about me?”
“Always,” he said, still watching you, “but the last thing you need is to break your leg.”
“It’s a five foot fall, Luke,” you said, amused as you got back on even footing. You hopped back down and tilted your head. “I’ve survived much higher falls.”
Luke frowned. “You don’t get to joke about that.”
“I thought you were dead too,” you defended. “That means it’s fair game.”
His chest twisted. He’d played that day over in his head thousands of times since he first lost you, wondering if he could have done something different or if he should have searched more—he stayed in those woods for a week and a half searching for you before another monster attack forced him out of the area. It was the whole reason he came up with a designated meeting area with Thalia and Annabeth if they got separated—he never wanted to lose someone again the way he lost you.
He shook his head with a sigh. “Sometimes I still can’t believe it, y’know?
“Thank my dad,” you said. “I would have died if I didn’t fall into water. And he’s the reason I got to camp.”
He’s also the reason you ended up on the streets in the first place, Luke wanted to say, but he held his tongue. You’d never shared his disdain for the gods, and he didn’t want to spoil your mood with his bitterness.
So he doesn’t. He tilted his head and focused back on you. “Do I ever tell you how thankful I am that you're still alive?”
You smiled as you pushed the chair in front of your desk. “I could always stand to hear it more.”
“Well, I’m thankful that you’re alive,” Luke said. He could have stared at your smile forever. “Mourning you was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.”
“With any luck, you won’t have to do it again,” you joked. “I get it, though. Sometimes it feels like a dream. I thought I was hallucinating when you came over that hill.”
The best and the worst day of his life—he found you again and lost Thalia in the same five-minute span. It wasn’t fair—Luke had told Thalia so many stories about you, and she was the one that brought him back from the edge your supposed death sent him to. On his worst days, Luke blamed himself for both.
“Luke,” you said, jarring him out of his thoughts. “What do you think of the lights? Tacky, or festive, or both?”
He blinked, then took a step back with you so you could get the full view. He nodded. “Festive, definitely. Where’d you even get them?”
“The Big House attic,” you said. “It’s not just full of Oracles and spoils of war.”
He chuckled. “And how did you convince Chiron to give you those?”
You shrugged. “You know I’m persuasive.”
Luke shook his head. “I’m jealous. No one else really gets to decorate their place like this.”
“No siblings means full creative control,” you mused. “And Big Three dad means a big cabin all for me.”
“And yet you still get a twin bed,” he said with a smile. “We’re all equal, really.”
“Like you wouldn’t prefer a full.” You fluffed your pillow then set it back down. “You spend as much time in here as I do.”
“Can you blame me?” Luke shrugged. “There’s no privacy there. We can get away with basically anything in here.”
“And because you love me,” you said cloyingly as you rustled your hair with his hand.
“Yeah,” he said with a smile. “I really do.”
Your smile widened and you gestured at your box of decorations. “Wanna prove it, loverboy? Help me get the rest of this up before sword lessons.”
“Y’know, I’m leading them today,” Luke said, picking up a stack of snowflake cutouts. He was pretty sure you just took all the rejects after you were in charge of the crafts for a week. “Technically, that means we’ve got as long as we want.”
“Oh, Luke Castellan,” you said airily, pressing a hand to your chest. “You know the way to my heart.”
-
“Oh,” Percy said. “Wow.”
“Yeah. And this is only one of them.” Luke set a cardboard box full of things on an empty bed and sighed. “She made this place her own while she was here.”
Percy took out a stack of baseball cards on top—Red Sox, of course, the only bad thing about you—and shuffled through them. “Everything’s a little dusty.”
“No one really wanted to come in here after she died,” Luke said. He had a tangled mess of Christmas lights in his hands. “All this stuff stayed up for a year or two before I took it all down.” He huffed a mirthless laugh. “You’re probably the only one apart from me to be in here since she left.”
Percy set the cards down. “Do you mind if I put some of it back up?”
Luke glanced at him. “Why do you always ask me? This is your place.”
“It’s not just my place,” he said. “I… I want to make sure I’m honoring her well. And I don’t wanna make it harder for you. Especially if you took it down for a reason.”
Luke was silent for a moment as he stared at the lights. He brushed off some dust with his thumb.
Percy felt bad for pushing the matter every time he was around Luke, but there was a tug inside of him—an innate need to know more about her, a desperation to honor her life despite never meeting her.
“I appreciate it,” he finally said. “But go for it, man. You don’t have to get my permission.”
Percy nodded, and he took a poster out, wedged in the side of the box. A Blondie poster, based off the huge block letters above a blonde singer stylized in pop art. It had a torn corner, and bits of tape had been folded over some parts of the edges.
Luke chuckled. “She was a huge Blondie fan. She brought her Walkman when she ran away—I lost count of how many times we listened to Parallel Lines. Definitely put that one back up.”
Percy nodded and set it on his bed. He looked at the lights in Luke’s hand. “Why’d she have those?”
“She loved to light the cabin up,” he explained. “Said it made it feel more homey, and she liked to change it with the seasons. And when she enlisted the Aphrodite kids, it was like a— a HomeGoods warzone.” Luke shook his head with the most genuine smile he’d seen all day. “She really was something special.”
Again, Percy’s heart clenched. It wasn’t fair he only got to learn about you through stories, only through the past tense. If he could get his mom back, why the hell couldn’t he get you back? Why couldn’t his dad have stepped in?
What good was regret when you have all the power in the world to stop it? What good was being a god if you couldn’t save your family when it mattered most?
“Y’know, I decorated this place a million times with her,” he said, and Percy was thankful for the interruption with his thoughts. “She wanted it to be a welcoming cabin, open to the whole camp if they ever got homesick.”
“So the opposite of what it used to be,” Percy said wryly.
“Yeah,” Luke nodded. “You two are the first Poseidon kids in a long time because of the oath—it was just here for respect. She didn’t just make it into her home, she made it into a home for anyone that needed some extra warmth.”
Percy looked around, trying to imagine you and a younger, unscarred Luke putting all this stuff on the walls, him helping you hang Christmas lights. You sitting on a bed, maybe what he’d chosen as his bed, talking a younger camper through their fears or their homesickness. You forcing the innate coldness of Cabin Three out and replacing it with warmth of your own.
“Did you bring any pictures?” he asked.
Luke nodded again and took a few out of his pockets, offering them to Percy. He took the one sticking out the most and smiled a bit.
“Very Poseidon of her,” he commented.
“She loved the beach,” Luke said, smiling wistfully. “No matter what state we were in, she would always try to find one. We could’ve walked twenty miles that day, and the moment she stepped into the water she would be good as new. I should’ve known who her dad was a lot sooner.”
Percy’s hand lingered on the picture he’d just put up. You stood on a sandy shore with your arms spread and head tilted back, and you looked wholly in your element.
He wondered what you would think of Montauk.
“This was one of those times?” he asked.
Luke nodded. “North Carolina. A year and a half in, I think. We missed the East Coast after being in the Midwest for so long, and naturally, she found a beach immediately.” His eyes softened. “She was always so happy around the water, even after she knew what it meant.”
Percy frowned. “What do you mean?”
He shrugged. “Finding out the thing you’ve always loved is the domain of the father who abandoned you is a little rough.”
Luke always spoke with more nerve towards the gods than any other camper he knew. Funny, considering he was one of the first ones to tell him that names had power.
And he’d been acting weird since Percy got back from the quest. He thought maybe he was jealous, but Luke didn’t really seem like the jealous type—especially when he was already so cool.
Then again, they did just come back from the brink of a possible world war. Percy should’ve been surprised more people weren’t acting weird.
His attention drifted to the clock on the wall in the midst of his thoughts—Chiron’s last ditch effort in a camp full of time-blind kids—and his eyes widened.
Percy muttered under his breath—Annabeth had taught him some Ancient Greek curse words on the road, and he was sure his mom would love them—and looked up at Luke. “Sorry, man. I’ve gotta go. Time really got away from me.”
“I get it,” he nodded. “Have you gotten any better?”
He glanced away bashfully. “Not really. But Beckendorf has the patience of a saint. Maybe someday I’ll make an actually functional sword.”
Luke chuckled, though it was wistful. “Good luck. You mind if I stay here for a bit? I can put up some of her things.”
“Yeah,” he nodded, “of course. Stay as long as you want.”
Percy stopped once he got out of the door. Luke’s gaze was glued to a picture of you on the wall, his expression softer than he’d ever seen before at odds with something indistinguishable in his eyes. Again, Percy felt that all-encompassing dread, and he swallowed the lump in his throat.
He left before it could consume him, but the haunted look in Luke’s eyes didn’t leave his head for the rest of the day.
-
You took in a deep breath of salty air. The sea breeze blew over you as waves gently rolled into shore, and you smiled. You never felt more like yourself than when you were at the beach, and when you and Luke were constantly on the run fighting for your lives, sometimes you desperately needed to feel like yourself.
You exhaled long and slow. It had been a particularly rough week—Luke did his best patching up your shoulder, but it would definitely scar—and this was just what you needed to wind down before you started moving again.
You and your mom went to Cape Cod a lot when you were growing up, and though this wasn’t anywhere close to the same, it made for an alright stand-in.
The click of a polaroid camera interrupted your peace, and you opened your eyes and turned your head to see the culprit.
“And you made fun of me for constantly taking pictures,” you said wryly.
Luke smiled. “I made fun of you for taking up valuable space in your bag to bring your camera with you. I can’t not take pictures of you—especially when you’re so photogenic.”
“Flatterer.”
“Not if it’s true,” he remarked. He held out the camera to you. “Wanna get any pictures of the sea? You’ve got a better eye than me.”
“Well, the sea’s a better subject than me,” you said. “Hold onto it.”
He chuckled and took it back, drying out the newly printed picture. “How’re you feeling, by the way? I know it’s been a hard few days.”
“Never better,” you said. “I needed a break from the road.”
“I get why you wanted to stop here,” he said. “It’s… calming.”
“Isn’t it?” You spread your arms out, breathing in deep once more. “I always feel better out here. More free.”
Another camera click, and your smile grew. “How do you feel?”
“Better too, surprisingly. But that might just be because we’re walking instead of running.” You heard his footsteps and he came up next to you. You took the picture he offered and chuckled. You had your head back and your arms spread, soaking up every bit of sun and sea air you could.
“I look like a stock photo.”
“Does that mean I can get a job as a photographer?” he asked. “We could use some extra cash.”
“Half of the pictures are either random parts of nature or me,” you said. “Who’d buy those?”
“Me,” Luke said. “But I don’t think that would help with our money problems.”
“All this flattery won’t get you anywhere,” you said.
“It got me here,” he said. “I think it’s worked out pretty well.”
You smiled as you looped arms with Luke, and after you gestured with your head, you started walking down the sand together. Whereas you always felt like you were blurting out the first thing that came to mind when you were around him, Luke always knew exactly what to say to make you feel better. “Do you like it here?”
Luke nodded. “It’s nice. I get why you like the water so much.”
“At least one beach a week going forward now that we’re on the coast again, then,” you said. “Deal?”
“Deal,” he agreed.
“Good,” you said with a smile. “I’ve been wanting to go back to Virginia Beach. Last time, those giant ant things ruined it for us.”
“Gods,” Luke grumbled, and you felt him shiver. “Don’t remind me of those things. I’ll never forget what their poison smelled like—and I’ll never forgive them for ruining my favorite shirt.”
“Don’t worry,” you said. “I’ll get you a Red Sox one someday, and it’ll become your new favorite shirt.”
Luke shook his head. “Your Boston baseball propaganda isn’t gonna work. I was raised as a Yankee.”
“And I’m here to undo that awful brainwashing,” you said sagely. “Next time we go through Massachusetts, I’ll have to get you one. And we can stop by Cape Cod—I think being close to the water is good for my health.”
“And I like seeing you happy,” he mused. “So I guess it works out for both of us.”
You laughed. “We’ll have to stop at a music store before the day ends, too. I’ve nearly worn out my Cyndi Lauper tape, and I need to get some new ones. You should pick out an album you like too.h”
“‘Course,” he said. “I think we’ve got some extra cash saved up. And if we have to—”
“We shouldn’t steal anything yet,” you interrupted. “I don’t wanna get the cops on our backs so soon.”
“You say that like I would get caught,” Luke remarked. “It’s literally in my genes. I’m making my father proud, and I’m helping you. I see no reason not to do it.”
“Cool it,” you said. “We’re not becoming Bonnie and Clyde at the ripe old age of eleven.”
“Fine.” You couldn’t see it, but you could sense his smile. “I’ll hold off. For now.”
That got another laugh out of you as you leaned your head against his shoulder. It felt like you’d been on the run for a week straight—this was the best break you could have asked for. Maybe the sea was good for your health, you thought. Or maybe it was just Luke.
Either worked for you.
-
Percy could hardly breathe as he stared down at the scorpion, slowly inching its way up his pants leg. It wasn’t every day one of your friends betrayed and tried to kill you in the woods, but this seemed like the year he started checking things off his bucket list.
“So this was your plan all along,” he said, attention split between the pit scorpion and the traitor. “Gain my trust, send me to Tartarus, start a war for Kronos.”
The air got colder, and Luke tilted his head. “You should be careful with names.”
“And you should do the job yourself,” he challenged. “You want to kill me? Fight me like a man.”
“I’m not Ares,” he said tartly. “You can’t bait me.”
“So you’re a coward too?” Red hot anger rose within him, and the words left him before he could really think about them. “Did you also lie about my sister? Got a hobby of killing Poseidon kids?”
“Zeus got her killed, Percy!” Luke yelled. There was something wild in his eyes as he gestured with his sword. “I loved her more than anything—I held her as she died, and your dad let it happen. If it weren’t for the gods, both her and Thalia would be alive!”
Maybe it was a good thing Percy didn’t know that until now. If he knew the king of gods was responsible for his sister’s death, he would’ve gotten himself burnt to a crisp on Olympus.
“This isn’t what my sister would have wanted,” he said. “She—”
“Don’t you dare talk about her!” His voice continued to rise. “You don’t know her— you don’t know what she would have wanted!”
“She couldn’t have wanted this!” he exclaimed. Percy’s breath caught momentarily as the scorpion inched closer and he forced his muscles to remain as still as possible as his gaze flicked back over to Luke. “This isn’t the way to fix things, Luke. I promise.”
He shook his head, and he could have been a son of Ares the way fire seemed to blaze in his eyes. “She died because of Zeus, Percy. She was so close to sixteen, and that meant she was a threat to his power. He sent monsters to kill her, and your dad could have saved her, but he didn’t do a damn thing about it. And y’know,” Luke huffed a laugh, cold and mirthless, “the same thing’s gonna happen to you.”
His blood had turned to ice. “He knows the pain of losing a daughter. Why would he—”
“Because they don’t care, Percy!” he yelled, his sword cutting through the air again. “All they care about is keeping their power and their position. Your dad would rather send you on a death quest than stop stroking his ego for one measly second. Hades sent monsters to kill Thalia, and Zeus sent monsters to kill your sister—they can’t punish each other, so they punish us, and the cycle will never stop until we make it stop.”
“And you think that this is the way to do it?” he asked desperately. “By betraying camp and all your friends? We’re in the same position as you are!”
“And anyone that’s smart will join our cause,” Luke said. “Do you really think I’m the only one that’s upset with the gods? I’ve been here for five years—I’ve seen kids leave for the school year and never come back. I’ve seen kids die without ever being claimed. My own dad turned me away at every opportunity. Our numbers are bigger than you know, Percy.”
“You say I don’t know my sister,” Percy said, “but I know her enough to know she wouldn’t want this. Not in her name. Not against our father.”
“You don’t know her at all,” Luke said, voice trembling. “If she knew that Zeus killed her for nothing but paranoia over a bullshit prophecy, she would be fighting against the gods right beside me.”
“I lost her once,” he continued, shaky but full of anger, “and then I got her back, just to lose her all over again. The gods will never know that kind of pain—if they did, they wouldn’t have let it happen in the first place.”
The scorpion was at his knee now. Percy was running out of time, and his mind was working in overdrive on how to get more, but he found himself rendered speechless. What could he say to a boy who’d lost everything?
Luke was the lightning thief, he’d fully intended to kill Percy with those shoes, he meant to turn the gods against each other and raise Kronos, and now he was really trying to kill him.
And yet, he couldn’t help but feel sympathy.
Percy thought he’d lost his mother, but now she was back. He’d met his father in person. He had a sister he’d never meet, that he would never be able to fully grieve. Luke loved her and grew up with her and grieved her twice.
Percy didn’t care—anyone who his sister loved couldn’t be a bad person. Not fully.
“Please, Luke,” he said, voice low. “I don’t know how to solve it, but this isn’t the way. You think the gods are using you? Kronos is doing the exact same thing.”
“You’re twelve, Percy, and you’re already the chosen one,” Luke said. “Hades and Ares would have both killed you if they got their way, and it was your job to stop a war between the gods because they couldn’t see beyond their egos. How is that fair to you?”
“There was no other choice,” Percy insisted. “If either of them backed down, they would look weak. We’re the only ones that can do quests like this.”
“Exactly,” he said. “They start petty fights that they can’t finish and it gets taken out on us. We have to be their heroes, and we have to praise them as we die.”
Percy remembered their bus exploding. Medusa, an innocent woman favored by Poseidon and punished by Athena for it. The endless souls in the Asphodel Fields, and even more waiting in line for their chance to be judged. Luke’s quest given to him by his father permanently scarring him, Thalia Grace sacrificing herself for her friends, his sister never getting the chance to see sixteen—Percy himself being used as a pawn to enact Kronos’s plan.
“You don’t have to be a hero,” Luke continued, almost begging at this point. “You can join our cause—you can prove you’re so much more than the prophecies want you to be. Say the word and I’ll call it off.”
Percy wasn’t exactly the pinnacle of godly respect. He tricked Hades, insulted Zeus, and actually fought Ares. But his dad loved him—or loved his mom, at least. Annabeth’s determination and Grover’s steadfastness and all the friends he’d made at camp—all innocent children like himself. He couldn’t turn his back on that.
Percy clenched his jaw. “I will never serve Kronos.”
Pain flashed in Luke’s dark eyes, but he shut it down just as soon. “So be it.”
He slashed his sword through the air and a ripple of darkness appeared, the void bleeding into the forest.
“I really am sorry it came to this, Percy,” Luke said quietly. “But it’ll be quick. And that’s a bigger mercy than Zeus gave your sister.”
Luke disappeared into the darkness and it vanished soon after. Percy didn’t have time to think about his words—the scorpion had reached his thigh. Sixty seconds, Luke had said, then it was over.
Percy had about five seconds to think of a plan before it lunged at him. He batted it away with one hand and uncapped his sword with the other, cutting the scorpion in half before it could reach the ground.
He thought he did it. Then he looked at his hand, a red welt already sweltering on his palm, oozing sticky yellow liquid.
Percy stumbled to the creek and submerged his hand, but nothing happened. He muttered a delusional prayer to his dad, then to his mother, then to you as he stumbled his way towards camp. Nymphs emerged from their trees, and he croaked a plea for help.
As Percy collapsed, barely caught by nymphs on either side, he swore that he saw you. Did that mean he was dying? You had kind eyes like his mother, an aura of warmth unlike the feverish heat in his body, and it made the idea of it a lot less scary.
He wondered if he’d meet you in Elysium.
Percy reached a leaden arm out to you, mumbling your name despite his cottonmouth, and then his vision went black.

Thirteen wasn't exactly the age you pictured discovering you were a demigod. Apparently, you had blissfully –or maybe obliviously— muddled through your first thirteen years completely oblivious to the mythological world that simmered just beneath your feet.
Your life had been a quiet one. Growing up in a sleepy seaside town, the rhythmic crash of waves against the shore was the soundtrack to your existence. You felt a weird connection to the water, an inexplicable pull towards the ocean whenever you stood on the beach. But you attributed that to nothing more than a love for swimming and a healthy dose of wanderlust, you thought.
Then came the satyr. Grover Underwood, a nervous wreck of a creature with a perpetually startled expression. You don´t remember much about your life back then, just the way he stammered through an explanation about Greek myths being real, your parentage being linked to a god, and the pressing need for you to get to a safe haven called Camp Half-Blood.
And now here you were. Years went by, living at Camp Half-Blood, and being the only child of Poseidon.
Camp was always bustled with activity. Laughter echoed across the training fields, campers sparred with celestial bronze swords. Yet, amidst the chaos, a subtle sense of loneliness lingered around you. You weren't friendless, not by any stretch of the imagination. You had a close circle of friends, but there was a specific kind of lonely feeling that came with being the only child of Poseidon at camp, a forbidden child.
The other cabins, they all teemed with siblings. —mostly—. Shared history, inside jokes, and the comfort of knowing someone else understood exactly what it meant to have the same god for a parent – these were things you craved. There was a gap, a yearning for a familial connection that none of your friends could fully fill.
Then came Percy.
His arrival at camp was nothing short of spectacular. A blue-eyed twelve-year-old with a knack for attracting trouble. During a particularly intense Capture the Flag game, Annabeth, a sharp-tongued daughter of Athena with a strategic mind, shoved Percy into the lake. The air crackled with gasps and surprises as a shimmering green trident materialized above Percy´s head, claiming him for Poseidon.
The revelation sent a jolt through you. You, the solitary child of the sea god, suddenly had a sibling. Percy looked up at you with wide, startled eyes, a mixture of awe and apprehension playing on his face. It was like looking into a mirror reflecting a younger version of yourself, the same confusion etched on his features.
Percy looked up to you with a hero-worship that both amused and touched you. He saw in you a reflection of his own mother, Sally Jackson, with her kindness and unwavering belief in the good in others. You became his confidante, his guide through the intricate social landscape of Camp Half-Blood.
But you weren't the only one who welcomed Percy. Luke, your closest friend at camp, was equally happy for your newfound family, —or so he faked it very well. Percy quickly found himself asking you both all the questions he had and spending all his training session´s with Luke.
You and Luke were a natural fit. Both of you skilled warriors, blessed with the agility of Hermes and the raw power of the sea. You sparred together often, your movements a dance of attack and parry, a language only the two of you seemed to understand. Your laughter echoed through the camp, and more than once, you caught Percy or other campers shooting you hesitant glances, not really knowing what your relationship was about, a thin line between friends love and-, other type of love, drawn in between.
And yes, Luke loved you, and you loved him. So much, that´d you´d be able to do anything for each other. Little did Percy know.
The metallic clang of your celestial bronze sword echoed through the silent woods, a jarring counterpoint to the chirping of nocturnal crickets. Percy, his breath ragged and sweat stinging his eyes, pushed back against Luke's relentless assault. Betrayal gnawed at his gut, a viper coiling tighter with every parry and thrust.
Luke, his once friendly face twisted with a manic fervor, pressed the attack. Every word that left his lips was a fresh wound: about the Olympians' manipulation, about the power promised by Kronos, about how this wasn't meant to betray him, or anyone.
Suddenly, the clang of steel meeting steel ceased. Percy stumbled back, his heart hammering in his chest, as Luke lowered his sword. A flicker of hope, fragile and fleeting, ignited within him.
"Percy," Luke said, his voice quieter now, a hint of desperation creeping in. "This is not what you want, trust me. Last chance."
Percy stared at him, the hope dying as quickly as it had flickered. How could Luke even suggest such a thing, joining him? Didn't he understand the consequences?
Before he could retort, a new figure emerged from the shadows of the trees behind Luke. His breath caught in his throat, eyes twitching as he tried his best to focus on the figure coming from the forest. You.
A flicker of relief washed over Percy as he saw you emerge from the shadows. "yn” he called out, hope blossoming in his chest.
You stepped into the scene, moonlight casting an ethereal glow on your features. But something was off. You weren't rushing to his side, face etched with concern as it usually was. Instead, you stood there, a strange stillness cloaking you.
"Percy" you finally said, your voice cool and controlled, lacking it´s usual warmth.
Confusion warred with the relief. "yn" he repeated, his voice unsteady. "Clarisse didn't – it was him" he stammered, pointing at Luke with his sword. "He stole the bolt. He's joining Kronos"
Percy expected outrage, surprise, anything. Instead, your expression remained unreadable. A shadow flickered across your face, but it was gone as quickly as it came.
"I know what he did" you replied simply. The calmness in your voice sent a shiver down his spine. The casualness of your reply was scary. It was like you were talking about the weather, not a world-shattering betrayal.
There was something wrong. Terribly wrong.
"Then help me" he pleaded, a desperate edge creeping into his voice.
You met his gaze for a long, agonizing moment. Percy saw a flicker of something weird in your eyes, something that made your pupils blown. But then, it was gone, replaced by a fire that mirrored Luke's.
A slow realization dawned on him, cold and heavy in his gut. You weren't surprised. You weren't angry. You knew.
Percy's heart hammered against his ribs. He saw the familiar hilt of your celestial bronze sword hanging loosely at your belt, the moonlight glinting off the polished metal.
"Percy, I can't do that" you said, your voice barely a whisper.
Percy understood then. You weren't caught in the middle. You weren´t with him, you were with Luke, all the way. The truth slammed into him, a betrayal far worse than anything he could have imagined. You were a traitor.
Percy felt like you'd ripped open a fresh wound in his chest and poured lemon juice in it. This sister, this family he'd thought he'd found at camp, meant nothing to you in the face of this rebellion? The anger coursing through him was laced with a bitter disappointment that gnawed at his insides. He'd trusted Luke blindly, sure, but you were different. He'd looked up to you, confided in you. The betrayal cut deep.
"You're with him?" he choked out, the question laced with disbelief and a raw, wounded vulnerability. He couldn´t wrap his mind around it.
"I'm not with him, Percy" you countered, taking a hesitant step forward. He flinched back, the movement a physical manifestation of the emotional chasm that had suddenly opened between you. The pain that flickered across your face was a punch to his gut, but he couldn't ignore the conviction in your voice. "We're together" you continued. "We created this."
Percy couldn't believe what he was hearing. You were so convinced, so blinded by whatever twisted loyalty you felt for Luke, that you couldn't see the bigger picture. "How could you?" he roared, his voice raw with emotion. "How could you do this, to everyone who trusts you? To the people who love you?"
You scoffed, a harsh, humorless sound. "Come on, Percy, you want to talk about betrayal? Let's talk about our father." The words hung heavy in the air, a challenge laden with bitterness. A sudden breeze swept through the woods, rustling the leaves and carrying the salty scent of the ocean as if a wave had crashed nearby. It seemed like even the sea itself reacted to your words.
"Let's talk about the gods" you pressed, your voice laced with a bitter venom. "They get bored at the Olympus, so they play their pretty games, making mortals fall for them and then discarding them like broken toys. Mortals like your mom, like mine. And they leave us, their children, to pick up the pieces."
Percy groaned in frustration. "They're not perfect" he admitted, "they're trying their best for us"
"Don't bullshit me" you say. The calmer your voice was, the more fear Percy felt. "I don’t wanna fight, Percy, but they couldn´t care less”
Luke´s face partially obscured by the shadows, but the jagged scar across his cheek was visible under the moonlight. It was a constant reminder of the failed quest Hermes had sent him on, a cruel mark of a father's neglect.
Percy's gaze flicked between you and Luke, a sudden understanding dawning on him. Your words, your anger, your sadness. It wasn't just about Kronos or overthrowing the Olympians. It was about a deeper wound, a festering resentment born from years of feeling abandoned by your father, his father too. He understood, but he didn´t think it was right.
"But you can't be serious" he finally choked out. "This isn't the answer. There has to be another way."
A flicker of sadness crossed your features, a stark contrast to the steely resolve you'd presented earlier. It was a fleeting glimpse, a crack in the facade you'd constructed, and it tugged at Percy's heartstrings. No, it wasn't jealousy or envy. It was a deeper, more profound sense of loss. You weren't angry at him for having a father who cared just a little bit, for having a family he cherished. You were simply… sad. Sad that you never had that, that your only family was Luke, and that his arrival, however welcome it initially felt, couldn't erase the years of loneliness you'd endured.
Percy´s eyes darted behind you, to Luke.
"Why are you dragging her into this?" Percy demanded, his voice tight with a mixture of anger and protectiveness. He knew you weren't the mastermind, Luke was the one who had poisoned your trust, manipulated your resentment.
"It's not that hard to understand, Percy" you answered before Luke could speak. Your voice held a quiet defiance, a loyalty that both warmed and stung him. "We're together" you repeated, the words laced with a quiet strength that resonated deep within him.
Then it hit him, another wave of realization crashing over him like a rogue wave. It wasn't just loyalty or a shared cause that bound you to Luke. There was something more, something deeper that flickered in your eyes whenever you looked at him.
"You love him" Percy whispered, the words hanging heavy in the air. And it wasn´t a question either, he knew.
A faint blush crept up your cheeks, but you didn't deny it. "We understand each other, Percy. We know what it's like to be unseen, unheard. Isn't that what love is? Empathy, understanding?"
A tear escaped your eye, glistening in the moonlight. Percy could see the pain, the longing in your eyes, how you clinged to the only thing that hugged you back; Luke.
“You’re blind” Percy whispered, hand instinctively groping to the handle of his sword.
"No, Percy" you countered, your voice soft but firm. "I'm awake. I see things for what they are. You know what it feels like, right? To have one person who understands you, who truly sees you" you continued. Your voice softened even further, a hint of vulnerability entering the equation. "Sally, isn't it?"
He flinched at the mention of his mother's name.
"That's love, P." you said, using the nickname you'd once shared. The sound of it sent a fresh wave of tears threatening to spill from his eyes, mirroring the glistening in your own. "And to me, to us" you continued, your voice barely above a whisper, "that's the most powerful thing."
Percy saw the love for Luke burning bright in your eyes, a love that had blinded you to the potential destruction you were embracing. He saw the pain of neglect, the longing for acceptance that fueled your rebellion. But most of all, he saw a glimmer of hope, a flicker of doubt that your tear-filled eyes betrayed.
The weight of your words settled on Percy like a lead blanket. He understood the path you were on, but he couldn't just let you walk away, couldn't let you be consumed by this darkness. The thought of ever having to fight you, to raise his sword against his own sister, filled him with a dread that eclipsed even the fear of facing Kronos himself.
With a desperate surge of defiance, Percy lunged at you, Riptide flashing in the moonlight. You reacted with lightning reflexes, a blur of blue as you deflected his attack with your own celestial bronze sword. The clang of metal echoed through the silent woods, a discordant note in the tense atmosphere.
The fight was short, brutal, and utterly one-sided. You were older, more experienced, and fueled by a burning conviction that mirrored Percy's own determination. A quick twist of your wrist, a disarming maneuver honed through years of training, and Riptide clattered to the ground several feet away.
Percy landed hard on the leaf-strewn ground, the impact knocking the wind out of him. He lay there, disarmed, defeated, and utterly heartbroken. Betrayal gnawed at him, a bitter cocktail of anger and sorrow.
A single tear escaped your eye, tracing a glistening path down your cheek. You knelt down beside him, your touch surprisingly gentle on his shoulder. "Percy," you said, your voice thick with emotion, "you're my brother. I don´t wanna leave you”
Percy looked up at you, his eyes red-rimmed and filled with a storm of conflicting emotions. "Then why?" he choked out, his voice hoarse. "Why are you doing this?"
"Come with me” you continued, your voice softening further. “Come with us, Percy”
A long silence stretched between them, punctuated only by the chirping of crickets and the rustling of leaves in the night breeze.
"I can't, yn" he said, his voice firm despite the tremor that ran through him. "I won't be a part of this, it´s not fair."
A flicker of pain crossed your features. You rose to your feet then, your expression unreadable again.
A curt nod was your only response before you swiped a hand across your cheek, wiping away the traitorous tear. Bending down, you retrieved your celestial bronze sword, the moonlight glinting coldly off its surface.
"Then I guess I won't see you for a while, little one" you said, your voice thick with a maelstrom of emotions. Percy almost flinched at the nickname, a stark reminder of the bond you once shared. The weight of his decision pressed down on him, a suffocating feeling that left him breathless.
Suddenly, a hand clamped softly onto your arm. You whipped around, eyes focusing on Luke, his face grim.
"We have to go" he said urgently, his voice laced with a barely concealed panic.
You glanced back at Percy, his expression a mixture of heartbreak and steely resolve. A million unspoken words hung heavy in the air, a silent plea for you to reconsider, to choose family over rebellion.
But your path was laid. With a final, longing look at Percy, you took a few steps towards a cluster of crumbling ruins that stood there sentinel. Luke reached for your hand, his grip tight with a mix of reassurance and desperation.
Percy watched, a cold dread settling in his gut, as Luke traced a final line, completing the arcane symbol etched onto the column. The air shimmered, a blueish light pooling in the center of the ruins. It widened, forming a shimmering curtain that pulsed with an otherworldly energy.
Luke leaned in, whispering something in your ear. You nodded, a faint smile gracing your lips for a fleeting moment. Then Luke, his face a mask of grim determination, looked back at Percy for a final time. And with a final squeeze of his hand, you both stepped into the shimmering portal. The blue light intensified for a moment, blinding Percy momentarily.
And then just like that, you were gone.
The portal spat you out in a blackness so thick it felt like a physical presence. The air was heavy with the smell of salt and wet sand. You stumbled forward, disoriented, hand instinctively tightening on Luke's. His grip was firm, anchoring you in the swirling darkness.
"Whoa, careful" he murmured, his voice a welcome sound in the suffocating silence.
He took a tentative step forward, then another, testing the ground. You followed suit, your steps hesitant and laced with a growing unease.
"Come on" he said, his voice tinged with urgency, "we gotta get to-"
He cut himself off abruptly as he realized you weren't moving. You stood rooted to the spot, your eyes fixed on something beyond him, your grip on his hand tightening almost painfully.
Luke turned you gently, his brow furrowed in concern as he gazed into your tear-filled eyes. The moonlight, pale and ghostly, illuminated the glistening tracks on your cheeks.
"Baby, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice soft but laced with worry. He cupped your face in his calloused hands, his touch a familiar comfort in the unsettling darkness.
You choked back a sob, the tears overflowing again. "Am I doing the right thing, Luke?" you whispered, your voice barely audible above the crashing waves. "I lost my family, again. Percy. He doesn’t-…”
The raw pain in your voice tore at his heart. He knew this path, this rebellion, would come at a cost, but seeing the emotional toll it was taking on you was a gut punch.
"Hey, hey, look at me" he coaxed, gently lifting your chin so your eyes met his. His gaze was steady, filled with a fierce loyalty that had always been a source of strength for you.
"We were on this path way before Percy arrived, remember?" he asked, his voice firm yet soothing.
You nodded slowly, a single tear tracing a path down your cheek.
"I need you to be strong for me, angel” he continued, his thumb brushing away the tear. "You´re what keeps me going."
He placed a tender kiss on your forehead. "I'll give you everything" he murmured, his voice a low promise. "I promise I'll give you the life you deserve"
Then, he trailed a line of kisses down your cheek, his lips lingering on yours in a final, lingering and sweet kiss.
It was meant to be a reassurance, but it sent a wave of conflicting emotions crashing through you. There was comfort in his touch, a flicker of the love you shared, but it was overshadowed by a gnawing doubt.
When you finally pulled back, a shaky breath escaping your lips, Luke took your hand, his touch gentle yet firm. He looked out at the vast expanse of ocean, then scanned the horizon.
You followed his gaze, squinting through the darkness. A faint flicker of white lights danced in the distance, a beacon in the vast blackness.
"Come on" he said, his voice tinged with newfound purpose. "We gotta get to the cruise."

hi guys im bored this afternoon so im going down an incorrect quotes rabbit hole.
for context!! here is the post i wrote which somehow entered the Incorrect Quotes Content Soup.
let's see what we got!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(N.E.R.D.S, GMOD) i have no idea who these characters are. however point of interest here is that the OPs apparently got these out of an incorrect quotes generator? who put me in the generator
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Undertale (i think?) Fire Emblem, Skyrim, Undertale again, Guardians of Mirra, Soul Eater)
i appreciate OP2's decision to include an extra lil caption at the top that's fun
an interesting common thread i'm noticing here is that all of these have the character who's cooking is 'inconclusive' and the character who's shoelaces are eaten as the same character? which is odd bcos in the OOP (mine) they are 2 different people!
Tumblr media
(no idea what fandom this is) ohh this one has some new dialogue!! that's fun!! i like the new dialogue. however seems like a missed opportunity not to change any of the non-foods.
moving on!!
Tumblr media
(Owl House) puzzled by the choice of characters here (who is Edward? genuinely do they mean Edric?) BUT appreciate the addition of 'more for me' from Hooty that's cute
Tumblr media
(Dear Evan Hansen) singling this one out for the title that's fun
Tumblr media
(unknown fandom) intriguingly this one goes on a bit longer & includes some more dialogue from the OP!
Tumblr media
(The Owl House) MAJOR props here for not only adding more dialogue but being the extremely rare iteration to add in some additional canon-appropriate foodstuffs 👍👍👍👍
Tumblr media
(Percy Jackson) ok im gonna level w ya. not only is this by FAR the most valid version of this i've seen i actually think it is prolly more in character than the OP. yeah Grover would eat twigs & shoelaces ur right.
& FINALLY i stumbled upon this tiktok featuring the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog which i am charmed and delighted by
stay tuned for if i find more!!

ur recent says ur taking requests but it says closed so I HOPE THIS IS OKAY LOL
Percy Jackson x reader fluff just anything lighthearted and dumb please 😭
𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 - 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲 𝐣𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— "like hell! the only one who can get me away from you right now is my mom." ft; late night rain dancing, taylor swift playing, warm towels and a shit ton of kisses from your second favourite person in the whole wide world
Tumblr media
a/n: nooooo i'm taking requests, like only ten for now which is why i didnt bother changing thatnjrefh but no, you're perfectly fine <3 i'm so s o f t for percy jackson feel free to send in another request if this isn't what you wanted <3 aaa this is quite literally, my first time writing for the pjo fandom so i hope i dont disappoint
note: percy jackson x gn!reader, they're both well in college, around two years after toa. no specific godly parent for reader mentioned per se, but it's implied the reader doesn't have a mortal family, not prood read, we die like jason grace. warnings: another bad attempt at fluff, spotify terminology (apple music users dni eyeroll emoji /j), brief mentions of sicknesses (cold, cough and fever), sally jackson being a SWEETHEART, a mention of throwing up, surprisingly only one (1) curseword. 815 words !
Tumblr media
you squeal in surprise as the rain starts pouring down harder. the winds have become harsher too, but whatever Zeus is pissed about this time around doesn't concern you.
instead, you tug the jacket you and percy are wrapped in closer to yourself, pulling him closer too by extension.
percy's hands slip around your waist, your back to his chest, as he picks you up and gently sways the two of you to the beat of 'love story' by taylor swift while he hums the lyrics under his breath.
he tugs you closer and presses a kiss to your cheek and jaw, resting his head on your shoulder later. you giggle when he does that, turning your head slightly to kiss his forehead.
the playlist probably ran out ages ago, now you two are staying afloat purely on the will of the spotify lords and their music choice, but as long as it's a song that either you or percy know, it works.
( anything works, to be honest, just as long as percy's here, behind you, holding you like you're the one thing he never wants to lose. as long as you have that, you know you've won. as long as percy jackson holds your hand and kisses your cheeks, gods, you'll take anything. )
new rome is fun, it keeps life interesting in a way that doesn't risk you, him and Annabeth going out on quests--and Annabeth having to mock throw up every time you two kiss even if you know she's just as terrified as you two.
swords and running from medusa's sisters ( or medusa sometimes. yeah aunty em was NOT happy last time you met her, apparently she still remembered the store circus thing even if it was more than seven years ago ) were replaced with chasing deadlines and seeing how many energy drinks you guys can stomach.
you're in new york right now, staying at sally's ( when she learnt you were going to spend the holidays in new rome, she demanded her son get you home. no way in hell is estelle's favourite person going to stay alone for the holidays ), and like the two very smart heroes of olympus you two are, you're out here dancing in the rain.
it's a little silly, yeah, but in your absolute defence, this started out as percy trying to teach you how to skateboard before the rain, and neither of you are going to let that ruin a date for you ( by extension let Zeus ruin another date for you, even if this isn't aimed at you ), so you two made the best of both worlds, thanking the gods the speaker piper got for you is waterproof.
with one last strike of thunder, the rain slowly dies down, leaving you and him in the park as the spotify lords finally give up on you two.
percy drops you suddenly and you have only two seconds to squeal in absolute surprise before you're turned around to face him this time. he's grinning at you with a look of absolute mischief--you're sure connor and travis had the exact same look before they shoved you into the pool last time you guys visited camp half blood. of course, percy was in there but something tells you that was their goal.
he looks so pretty you could cry.
and this pure boy, who smiles secretly to you, looks at you like you're the one at the centre of his universe, the one who holds your heart. this same boy has given you his, asking only for your love in return, something you're more than happy to give him.
before you can ask him what he's up to, percy suddenly shakes his hair, causing all the water to fly everywhere, including on you.
you almost yell in surprise but with a small chuckle bite back. doing the same, as both of you laugh while shaking your heads to have the water droplets go around everywhere.
it's probably a weird sight to watch--two teenagers, drenched in water, shaking their heads like there's no tomorrow while holding each other, but you don't really give four fucks.
once your head starts hurting, you stop and cup percy's face, getting him to stop as well. your other hand slides into his hair, messing it up further as the hand on his face guides him for a kiss.
he lifts you up again and twirls you--no doubt to get another laugh out of you--before setting you down.
percy doesn't let go of your hand either, not when you pick up your stuff and head to sally's (your current favourite person in the world), not while the two of you are lectured by her on colds coughs and fevers in this weather, not even when warm towels are given to the two of you.
that makes you almost as warm as sally's hot chocolate did.

Why Are Seers Always Cursed? (2)
Wesley Weston is a son of Apollo with the rare gift of prophecy.
Written for @crossoverdanuary Week 2024, Day 3: Percy Jackson | Lake
This takes place shortly before Annabeth, Luke, and Thalia arrive at Camp Half-Blood, and while Wes is still in middle school, meaning it's set before the primary canon events of both series. You can also read it on AO3.
Chapter 2: Camp Orientation
Previous | Next
[No Warnings Apply]
New York City was nothing like Amity Park. If Wes thought the buildings back home were pretty tall, the skyscrapers here were gargantuan. He was half worried they'd fall over at that height, like a Jenga tower. It smelled worse than Amity Park too. Maybe it was just because of the steadily increasing heat, but the place smelled like sweat and garbage.
"Come on Wesley, no time to waste," Melvin said, ushering him onto the shuttle out of the airport.
"I told you, it's just Wes," he repeated for probably the sixth time. "So how far is this Camp Half-Blood place, anyway?"
The two of them had had the chance to talk on their flight, and Melvin had explained everything. Wes hadn't wanted to believe it at first, but after listening for a while, it started to make sense.
"You mean Apollo wasn't a stage name?" Wes had asked. "That was the real, actual Apollo? No way, that's ridiculous."
"When he sent a message to camp asking for a searcher to go get you, he said that you had inherited the gift of prophecy," Melvin had said. "Haven't you ever felt or seen things before they happened? Had dreams or visions that ended up being true?"
Wes' mind had instantly gone to how he'd known that his mother was going to meet Apollo again. But then he'd started to remember other things. That time his dad had gotten fired, and he'd used his saved-up allowance to buy a consolation cake on the way home from school, even though he couldn't have known until he got home and his dad told them about it. Somehow, he'd just known that something bad had happened and his dad would need a pick-me-up.
He'd thought about how he always somehow knew when there would be a pop-quiz at school. Even about how, when he was little, he never lost a game of Guess Who. How he hadn't been surprised when he'd learned his dad wasn't really his dad, how he'd almost been expecting the news. He'd known when Easton's college acceptance letter came in the mail, and when Kyle was going to eat it and break his arm during a skateboarding competition.
All this time, Wes had attributed it to coincidence, or lucky guesses, but... could it really be prophetic knowledge?
"I can see by your expression you know exactly what I'm talking about," Melvin had said. "But prophecy is a rare and highly coveted ability. Honestly, Apollo should have called us to pick you up years ago. You're just lucky you never made the connection before, because if you knew, they'd be able to smell it on you."
"They?"
"Monsters," Melvin had clarified. "The ones from the Greek myths, harpies, cyclopes, basilisks, all them. They're all real. A demigod with the gift of prophecy like you is in even more danger than most. I mean, any demigod is in danger of being attacked and killed by monsters, but you? You they might keep alive as a prisoner, using you for your ability, and that's arguably worse."
Wes had swallowed, suddenly a bundle of nerves.
"Don't worry, though, once we get to camp, you'll be fine," Melvin had said. "There, you'll learn how to fight and protect yourself, and you'll be protected, too."
"Right...."
Wes was jumpy as they took the shuttle to the city and then the bus to Long Island. After Melvin had explained the mist to him, he looked at everything and everyone like they might be out to get him. He'd never been so paranoid in his life. But him being a demigod explained more than just his apparent precognition.
Back when he was in grade school, he could have sworn on his life that their neighbor's huge quote-unquote "dog" was not a normal dog. It's eyes glowed sometimes, and out of the corner of his eye it always looked to have horns, but they would disappear when he looked directly at it. It always growled at him when he passed, and one day, he took the long way home and snuck in through the back door because he somehow knew that if he took his usual route that dog was going to attack him.
The day after that, the neighbor took her dog and moved out suddenly. He never saw either of them again.
How many other monster-dogs and monster-people had he missed because he didn't know he should look for them? How many times had he narrowly avoided death because he had a gut feeling that made him take a different route home or fake sick to get out of school?
"Stop that," Melvin whispered.
"Huh?"
"It's good to be vigilant, but if you assume everyone is a monster, you'll drive yourself crazy," he clarified. "Our stop's coming up, and from there is a bit of a walk, but it's usually pretty quiet. Just try to stay calm. We're in the home stretch."
Right.
Trying to stay calm failed spectacularly. Wes spent the whole walk from the bus stop to the camp more anxious than he'd ever been. He felt like every shadow, and even the wind blowing through the trees was going to come after him. Melvin was right. It was driving him crazy.
"You know, this is going really smoothly," Melvin said after a while. "I mean, I said the walk would be quiet, but usually we searchers find demigods because they're being attacked or something. It's not often that a god actually comes by camp to tell us to pick up his kid and gives us an exact address.
"Of course, it's not often a demigod inherits the gift of prophecy either. In fact, I think the last one was born in the 1890s, if I remember right. It's almost as rare as a child of Hephaestus being able to control fire. I guess I should have expected your case to be different—it was certainly better planned and scheduled. I would have expected more danger though."
Suddenly, Wes felt a hot feeling shoot through him. "Wait," he said stopping in his tracks. He looked around, scanning what he could see of the horizon. "We should go a different way."
"Why? Did you see something?"
"No I felt..." Wes suddenly felt silly again. There was no reason to change course because of a feeling. Then again... he did supposedly have the gift of prophecy. Maybe it wasn't just a feeling after all. "I felt like I was standing next to a bonfire for a second. I think if we keep going this way, we'll get burned."
"It could be more dangerous if we stray from the path but... who am I to argue with a seer," Melvin said. "We'll go this way."
With that, Melvin led him just past the trees that lined the road. After about thirty minutes, they heard a distant roar in the direction the road would have been, and Melvin stopped to smell the air.
"Definitely a monster," he said.
A plume of fire shot into the sky.
"A drakon, I think. It would have been bad if we'd run into it." He looked down at Wes, a little incredulously. "I'll be damned. Did you know?"
"Not exactly," Wes said. "Like I told you, I felt fire, and a strong sense that it was related to the direction we were headed. That's all."
"I guess that's all we needed," Melvin said. "Huh...." The look he fixed Wes with next was curious, almost hungry. It made the redhead squirm. "Anyway, camp's not much farther now. If the drakon's heading that way, we should warn them."
A few minutes more, and they reached the crest of a hill.
In the valley on the other side was a summer camp. Wes could see an amphitheater, a large blue farmhouse with a wraparound porch, a cluster of maybe a dozen cabins, give or take, and a little ways away a place with about a dozen long, white picnic tables. Campers ranging from about seven-or-eight to their late teens were scattered about doing an odd mix of normal camp activities and intense-looking combat training.
"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood," Melvin said brightly. "Come on, we should warn Chiron about the drakon."
Melvin led Wes down to the blue farmhouse, where he met the camp director, Mr. D, and a centaur named Chiron, who apparently was the actual camp director. Melvin quickly introduced Wes to both of them as the child of Apollo who could see the future, and then told them about the drakon they'd avoided on their way there.
"Thank you, Mr. Barkley, I'll take him from here," Chiron said, and he led Wes toward the cabins.
"Another one for cabin eleven?" A wiry-looking girl of about sixteen asked.
"Sorry, Robin, this one's been claimed by Apollo already," Chiron told her. Then he looked back at Wes. "Robin is the head counselor of the Hermes Cabin. Since Hermes is the god of travelers, that's where campers who haven't been claimed, or who were claimed by a god other than the twelve Olympians stay. We know who your godly parent is, so you'll be staying in cabin seven, the Apollo Cabin, along with the other children of Apollo.
"Apollo's head counselor, Archer, will show you around camp," he finished as he stopped in front of a cabin with the number seven hanging over the door. "Now, please excuse me, I must inform the Ares Cabin of the potential threat."
Wes waited for him to leave before knocking on the cabin door.
"If that's you, Robin, fuck off!" a voice called from inside.
"It's not!" Wes called back awkwardly.
A few seconds later, a boy about the same age as Kyle answered the door. He was about average height and build with brown skin and dark brown hair tied back into a short ponytail.
"Who're you?" he asked.
"Uh... I'm Wes Weston," Wes answered. "Chiron told me to come here."
"You're a son of Apollo?"
"I guess."
"Archer Gutierrez," he introduced. "I'm head of the Apollo Cabin, nice to meet you. Sorry about the language. Come on in."
Inside, there were bunk beds on either side with a cot in the middle of the cabin for some reason. It smelled of clean linen and dried sage. Rough wooden beams ribbed the ceiling and the white plaster walls were mostly bare, except for a few hooks, even though there were paintings and wall hangings all over the floor.
"Sorry, Robin keeps breaking in and taking everything off the walls for literally no reason," Archer explained. "We have set so many traps and stuff to stop her, but she keeps getting past them somehow. Either we're gonna have to escalate to putting in landmines like the Ares Cabin, or just stop hanging stuff on the walls altogether, because this is ridiculous. I mean it's basically harmless, but it's super annoying. Can you put that bow back up over there?"
"Are the Apollo and Hermes cabins, like, rivals or something?" Wes asked, lifting an intricately carved bow off the floor and resting it on a set of hooks Archer had pointed to.
"No, not really," he replied. "It's just Robin. I think she's still pissed that I broke up with her a couple months ago. She said she was cool with it, but she still keeps breaking into cabin seven to make a mess, so I don't know."
"Weren't you in school a couple months ago?" Wes asked. "I thought this was just a summer camp?"
"Some of us stay here year round, if we don't have anywhere else to go, or if we don't want to go," Archer answered with a shrug.
The two of them finished hanging everything back up in relative silence, broken up only by Archer's humming and Wes occasionally asking where something was supposed to go. Once they were done, Archer took him out for the grand tour. The cabins, the dining pavilion, the camp store, the forge, the amphitheater, the arts and crafts room, the archery range, the music classroom, the infirmary, the arena.
He mostly focused on the places where Apollo campers tended to hang out, unsurprisingly. Apparently Wes would be expected to help out in the infirmary sometimes, since Apollo was the god of medicine, even though the most Wes knew about medicine came from Kyle bribing him to help patch up skateboarding injuries before their dad found out.
It seemed the camp and camp activities were pretty much completely divided based on godly parent. In the dining pavilion, they had to sit at their godly parent's table, and weren't allowed to sit at someone else's. They did camp activities in groups with other people who shared their godly parent. They weren't allowed to enter cabins that weren't their own—though obviously that didn't stop Robin. The way Archer explained it made it sound like these rules were pretty strict though.
Then Wes saw something out of the corner of his eye. "Huh?"
"What? You have a question?" Archer asked.
"No, I just thought I saw... nevermind. Must've been a trick of the light." For a moment, Wes thought he saw a large pine tree at the top of the hill. But there was obviously no pine tree there.
"Come on, I'll show you the volleyball court."
"I prefer basketball."
"I'll bet you do," Archer snorted. "Apollo cabin has pick-up games from time to time. It gets pretty intense. The record for farthest score is 165 feet from the hoop."
"Really?" Wes said. "That's amazing. That's more than a full court shot. That's almost two courts."
"Everyone knows Apollo kids have the best aim. That was two year ago, though, and no one's been able to match it yet, not even the guy who did it."
Wes stopped in his tracks. The hot feeling had returned, this time on the back of his neck. He turned around and saw the camp border directly behind him.
"It's coming here," he said.
"Huh?"
"What do you guys do when a monster attacks?" he asked instead of clarifying.
"Ares cabin usually takes the front lines with the other cabins providing backup," Archer explained. "Apollo cabin grabs our bows and arrows and retreats to high ground to lay down cover fire."
"You should get ready to do that, then."
"Huh? Why?" he asked, cocking his head in confusion. "We can't know when a monster will attack until it does, so there's no point freaking out about it, ri..." he trailed off when he caught sight of the entire Ares cabin fully armed and armored and heading up the hill. "That's strange, usually they only send a few guards at a time to act as lookouts, but I haven't heard the lookouts say anything."
Just as the rest of Ares Cabin reached the top of the hill, the lookouts started to shout.
"Drakon approaching!" They screamed as loud as they could.
"How did you know?" Archer asked Wes, not moving.
"Shouldn't you get your bow?"
"Right, but this is not the end of this conversation!" He started running to tell the other Apollo campers to get ready.
As Wes looked back up to the hilltop, to the Ares campers charging down at the monster, for a moment, he saw that pine tree again, stretching up toward the heavens. Then he blinked, and it was gone. It hadn't been there in the first place.

I almost approached you to ask you what you make of the discourse about/with the fucking hellenistic Greek nationalist but figured I'd wait to see if you felt like commenting on it yourself. Seeing people invoke nationalism of the oppressed felt crazy. Percy Jackson got you that upset? 😭
yeah I mean I'm pretty sure I've actually commented on the exact same discourse from the exact same user(s) before. it was a joke about the Macedonia name change I think.
anyway yea, a lot of "cultural appropriation" discourse is just nationalistic bogus (memecucker used to post about this a lot) and anything under that umbrella with actually merit could be articulated by other means. but like, I looked up the Greek nationalist to see what her deal was and apparently she's mad that people draw Greek gods as Brown/Black, which is uhm. certainly a choice of thing to get mad about. you'd think that would clue in American fandom-as-politics bloggers one the issue, but apparently not. honestly, there's a lot of wacky racist shit she's said, but I don't feel like delving into it cause it's giving her even more attention and I think nobody should have taken her seriously in the first place. but like, if you have even a smidgen of a clue about how insanely racist people in the Balkans are, none of it is a surprise.

Imagine all our demigods being demigods, BUT, they’re also world-wide stars.
Percy is known to the mortal public as “The Hero” because he is named after Perseus. Girls and boys love his delinquent smirk, the way he sings with his heart and soul and seems so sad when he is on stage. He is a solo singer, but he often makes feats with Piper McLean, also a singer and a model, and from their instagram stories, they seem to be best friends. But the press is on about something else on him, his criminal record. Even though he is always acquitted or the case is abandoned, he was still the famous 2005 hunted kid who got kidnapped, had a rifle duel with his kidnapper. And was rumoured to have blown up the St.Louis Arch and made a fire in his High school. But the conspirators on the twitter and 4chan find plot holes in his story.
The public knows Percy is dating famous choreographer and dancer Annabeth Chase, who also got kidnapped along with him. She also makes appearances on multiple TV series along with famous Artist and actress Hazel Levesque. But hold on ! Doesn’t Hazel Levesque look a lot like this girl from the 40s ? And they share the same last name ? Is she a descendant of hers ?
And The public and press notices that she is close to another famous person, Jason Grace. The winner of the Fencing summer Olympics. But hold on ! Doesn’t he also seem familiar ? Wait, isn’t he the son of famous Hollywood singer and actress, Beryl Grace ? Also known as Beryl Disgrace ? People start calling him Jason Disgrace after he fails a duel, he begs them on twitter to stop because he feels uncomfortable. Is he actually her son ? If so, where is his older sister, Thalia Grace, who was known to be the cutest child model for America ? Why did they disappear so suddenly, and why, did they not come to their mother’s public funeral ? Were they that shielded from the public ?
Jason Disgrace is seen a lot with Percy Jackson and Frank Zhang. Frank, who is a The winner of the Weightlifting Olympics, and participated in the Archery olympics, he is also known to be Hazel’s partner. How do so many known and famous people be mutual best friends ? But wait, there’s more…
Both Hazel Levesque and Jason Grace and their friends seem to be friends with two other people. Nico Dii Angelo and Will Solace. Let’s start with the easy one, Will Solace, a.k.a, Wilhem Andrew Solace. He won the the Archery Olympics, where he participated with Frank Zhang, who seems to also be his friend. But outside of that, he was spotted at Columbia University, where he apparently studies PhDs in Biomedical Sciences program. He posts multiple photos with his best friends, especially one in particular ; Nico Dii Angelo.
Nico Dii Angelo is a mystery to the public, he never posts anything on his instagram except for puppy pictures and McDonald’s menues and food. Multiple people have spotted him on multiple trains or boats, sometimes even on the same day, but in places too far to travel in in just one day. So how does he do it ? Wait, hold up, is he another time traveler ? Niccolo Dii Angelo, an Italian young boy who lived in America after immigrating from Italy in the 40’s, has a striking resemblance to Nico Dii Angelo, from a screenshot taken from a McDonald’s security camera when he was 11. Why is he so known ? Well, Niccolo Dii Angelo, was apparently the son of a mafia family, which might be the reason they might have fled to America. Even though it is not confirmed, there might be a liaison between Niccolo Dii Angelo and Nico Greco, Nico Greco being a fake name to hide his new identity.
Niccolo Dii Angelo and The Levesque girl are both from the 40s, coincidence ? At multiple times Hazel Levesque and Nico Dii Angelo call each other siblings, even though they look nothing alike.
Adding onto this, there is also an 8th member to this conspiracy, Leo Valdez. He has more ran away more than 3 times from foster homes, which he got in because his mother died during a fire due to a problem with a malfunctioning machine. He is seen on the backstage of both Piper’s and Percy’s concerts, fiddling with a broken machine. Sometimes he steps up on stage to fix a technical problem, and laugh along with the public. He is also seen with Jason Grace, helping with equipments in the Olympics. He can also be spotted on some famous series stage where Hazel or Annabeth play. He is also quiet present on all of these people’s instagram and twitter accounts, where he can be seen close to fire or machinery, in plus of his own twitter account.
So, How does Percy Jackson, a kidnapped kid and now singer and model for top brands, date Annabeth Chase, a prodessional Choreographer, dancer and actress, and also a kidnapped kid ? How are they both friends with Piper McLean, Daughter of World wide known star Tristan McLean, and known singer and Model ? And how are these three both friends with Jason Grace, that some thought was dead ? And do they all know the time travellers Hazel Levesque and Nico Dii Angelo ? And how is Gloomy Nico Dii Angelo dating sunshine boy Will Solace ? And Hazel Levesque dating Frank Zhang who is friend with all of them. And who is Leo Valdez ? Is he just an Npc with a backstory or just a friend ?
Are they all interconnected ? What are the dots left to connect all of this ? What is this mess ?

The Sunnydale Herald Newsletter, Tuesday, November 28
Buffy: (comes into the room) Well, it's official. Chris and Eric didn't come to school today. Xander: That's no coincidence. Willow: Maybe they finished their project. Buffy: God! What if it worked? What, what if that poor girl is walking around? Xander: Poor girls, technically. Buffy: What could she be thinking? Willow: And what are they gonna do with her? Giles: (comes in also) I don't think we need to worry about that just yet. I spoke to a press person this morning about the remains. The police have finished sorting through them, and apparently they found three heads in the dumpster. Buffy: They only had three girls. Giles: Precisely. Willow: So, they don't have the whole, uh, package? Xander: Heads must be no good. Huh. I found 'em attractive enough. Well, obviously I'm not as sick as Chris and Eric.

Happy STS! What are your favorite scenes from your WIPs? (and if you would like share some lines <3)
So my Greek myth wip is based on the need to do Percy Jackson better since there's a lot of stuff that I'm noticing now that I'm re-reading and older. One of these things is Camp Jupiter and New Rome, because it's kinda weird that they cosplay as ancient Romans when Camp Half-Blood doesn't do that. So I wrote an explanation and I really need to re-write this so it's less exposition.
Part down below:
"Did anyone tell you why the sons of Kronos made that pact to not have any more children?"
Megara shook his head. Honestly, it had barely ever been mentioned before. He was pretty sure some people complained about accepting him since he was a pact-breaking child, but those complaints had never been a big deal. "Didn't it happen after the Civil War? I only heard about it because camp got set up right after the pact."
R.K. nodded. "Yeah. I never knew the story until Hermes told me about it, but apparently the seeds happened when Poseidon was made mortal and forced to be a slave for King Laomedon. Hermes told me that, when he returned, he hated slavery."
"Because the sea didn't like to be restrained." It was why Rome never sailed.
"I mean, yeah, but he had also made friends out of fellow slaves and watched them die. Hermes said that he made big changes when he returned and started targeting slave ships. Most of the mermaid population is made of slaves who jumped overboard."
Megara hummed. "I didn't know that."
"Yeah. Father doesn't talk about it much. When talk of getting rid of slavery started up, his kids followed his lead and became abolitionists, even became conductors on the Underground Railroad." She sighed, staring at the sea. "One of them was a woman named Caroline."
"Oh?"
"She was born free. Her grandmother wasn't. She started talking to other demigods, convincing them to help. A slave owner named Felix Wilson, a son of Zeus, heard about her."
Oh. Oh no. He knew that name.
"He got worried about what would happen if every demigod in the United States at the time were allied against slavery." Megara could imagine it. There probably hadn't been that many demigods in the country at the time, but he could imagine the effects. "When the Confederacy broke away, Felix and some of his friends tracked down Caroline." R.K. looked away from the sea, upwards, and Megara followed her eyes. "There's apparently ways to make children of Poseidon drown, if you're determined enough."
Clouds floated by, and Megara gulped. His fingers tingled, just like whenever he manipulated clouds.
"Felix fled to California, and Uncle made sure Father couldn't attack him there." R.K. sighed, resting her chin on the railing, eyes locked on the endless blue that her sister had died in years ago. "His friends killed a good portion of any children of Poseidon and Hades, since they worked together, they could find. When the war was over, Father and Uncle H demanded Uncle never have another child again, because his son had killed so many of their kids." R.K.'s neutral expression twisted into a frown. "He agreed, but said since they were too attached, that they also had to agree."
"He founded the camp," Megara said, interrupting her. "He founded the camp, but he wasn't very popular. Apparently, someone pushed him off a cliff after a year of him leading, but Jupiter pitched a fit when they tried to change the rules."
