Alternatives to breadmaking for this lughnasadh:
Boa buns - custard dessert ones, or savory dinner ones. Can be decorated. Bread-ish, but takes less time than bread.
Pasta making - or buying fresh pasta - celebrates the grains
Rice dishes - rice is just as much about abundance as wheat is
Baking with fruits like apples, berries, and late-summer melons
Tortilla making, if that fits with your culture better
Cornbread - homemade, or that 99 cent Jiffy mix.

🔥🌜 Celebrating Walpurgis Night 🌛🔥
Hello darlings 🥰
As the long, dark winter months come to an end, we welcome the coming of spring and the promise of renewal. One of the most magical nights of the year is Walpurgis Night, a celebration that occurs on the night of April 30th.
Tumblr media
Walpurgis Night, also known as Hexennacht or May Eve, is a pagan festival that dates back to ancient times. It was originally a night to celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of the planting season. Today, it is a time to embrace the return of light and warmth, and to honor the spirits of nature 🌷✨
To celebrate Walpurgis Night, you can light bonfires, dance around Maypoles, and create beautiful floral wreaths to wear in your hair. It's a night to let go of the old and welcome the new, and to connect with the earth and its cycles.
Some popular ways to celebrate Walpurgis Night include:
🔥 Lighting bonfires or candles to honor the return of the sun.
🌸 Creating floral wreaths and garlands to wear or hang in your home.
🕯️ Holding a ritual to honor the spirits of nature and ask for their blessings.
💃 Dancing around a Maypole to celebrate the fertility of the earth.
🌿 Planting seeds or starting a garden to welcome the spring.
Remember, the energy of Walpurgis Night is all about renewal, growth, and new beginnings. Embrace the energy of the season and allow yourself to let go of the old and welcome the new.
If you're celebrating Walpurgis Night this year, be sure to share with the Sappy Witch Coven by submitting your post to connect with other witches and pagans around the world 🥰

SAMHAIN BREAKDOWN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎃✨🎃✨🎃✨🎃✨🎃✨🎃✨🎃✨🎃
SAMHAIN (🗣SAA-WYN🗣)
Other names:
Samhuin, Samain, Saman, Oidhche Shamhna, Hallowe'en, Halloween, Hallows, Hallowtide, Shadow Fest, Allantide, Third Harvest, Harvest Home, Geimredh, (Feile na Marbh), Feast of the Dead, Spirit Night, Candle Night, November Eve, and Apple Fest.
What is it?
Samhain is an old Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter (the "darker half" of the year)
What it represents
Samhain is a time when doorways to the spirit world are opened, allowing the dead to visit the living world. Some spirits were considered friendly, while others were not, and the Celts created ways to appease them.
It also marks the end of the Celtic year and the beginning of the new one and as such can be seen as an equivalent of New Year's Eve as we know it.
Tumblr media
When is it celebrated
It is held on 1 November but with celebrations beginning on the evening of 31 October, since the Celtic day began and ended at sunset
Who to honour
Traditionally because this festival is associated with those who no longer walk this realm in a physical form, ancestors, family members, elders of the faith, friends, pets and other loved ones who have passed on are appropriate beings to honour.
Other sprits to worship
In the case you want to explore other spirits to worship, any death deity would be appropriate for example, you may feel compelled to leave out an offering to Hades at this time of the year. You can also worship the earth itself, as we approach this time of the year many plants begin the end of their yearly cycle, this is the perfect time to take a moment to appreciate the beauty in that part of the cycle.
How to celebrate
There are many things to do to honour ancestors and not just the human ancestors but the earth ones and the animals as well, this may manifest in many ways.
Some popular ways to celebrate this festival are
dancing,
feasting,
taking nature walks,
Ancestor Stories,
cemetery visits,
Bonfire Magic.
and building altars to honour the ancestors
These are not the only activities, there are many more that I could list and many more points I could touch on, but I wanted to keep this post really easy/friendly and not to overwhelming,
I hope to at some point tomorrow get to draft up a “Samhain correspondence” post to go along with this one🥰 if there is anything else/ or any questions you have that you’d like me to touch base on I’m more than happy to do my best to answer🥰
Merry meet! B ~Phae

Imbolc: February 1st - February 2nd
"In the Celtic calendar, Imbolc represents the start of spring. Animals could be put out to pasture and were no longer dependent on stored hay. barns and homes that had been shuttered throughout the long winter could be cleaned or at the very least aired out. There were newly born animals in the pens which also meant a fresh flow of milk. in many ways, this point of the calendar represented a time of cleansing, renewal, and rebirth." ~ Llewellyns Sabbat Essentials: Imbolc

Little Imbolc chant❣️
I am light.
In a circle of light,
I am a fire.
Burning,
Burning so bright.

Yule Wreaths
In addition to Witch Balls another decoration to make for the holiday are Yule Wreaths. These are a combination of items to symbolize things you want to bring in the new year with, or leave behind.
Your wreath can include things that symbolizes what you want to bring into the new year, what you want to let go, or (if it’s a gift) something you want to manifest for a friend.
Some traditional items used are evergreens, holly, mistletoe, ivy, thistle, pine, cedar and many other natural symbols of Yule (do keep in mind that some of these are toxic to humans or pets, so please proceed with caution) You can also thread some color into your wreath such as shades of red, green, white, gold and silver. Like always, anything you choose to include should be because you truly think it would make a difference and not because someone on the internet told you to.
On that note, it’s valid to exchange herbal ingredients for artificial ones. You don’t have to explain to anyone why, and it will hold the same meaning as you intend for it to.
If you want make a completely unique wreath that’s okay too! They don’t need to look the same! You can make a wreath completely out of ribbons, paper, or one representing a completely different season you’re okay to do so. There are no restrictions to this.

Season of the Witch
The “altar” I discovered in the forest, where I paused to make an offering and honored the God and Goddess for Samhain.
My personal altar at home, decorated for Samhain. The aftermath of a banishing spell.
My Halloween costume. Expressing my magical self. :)
Our altar for Dia de los Muertos and our beloved dead. My spouse is part-Hispanic, I’m formerly Catholic and also part-Filipino, so honoring Day of the Dead/All Saints Day/All Souls Day was already part of our traditions. It’s taken on even deeper meaning for me as part of my Wiccan path.
“The God departs from this world to the realm beyond, guiding souls to the next step of their journey. The Goddess lights a candle for him, both mourning his absence and awaiting the return of his light. So, too, do we mourn those who have passed, celebrate their lives, and carry those memories forward with hope.”
