I love how in just about any Ace and Sabo reunion fic/fanart/fancomic that I've seen of those two reuniting that Ace will 100% punch Sabo no hesitation. It's pretty much Canon at this point. Like- all of Ace's suppressed childhood gremlin anger WILL be unleashed the moment he lays eyes on the blonde bastard who showed him how to love and care and be loved and cared for.

i think the biggest draw for acesabo/saboace to me is just. they were 5 when they met and became each other's other half. they felt complete when they worked together, they understood each other despite their opposite backgrounds, and without even knowing it they both used the same coping mechanism when the other was dead. "ace is telling me to kick your ass," "if you laugh at luffy's dream sabo and i won't ever forgive you." NO ONE told sabo that ace did that shit, too. there's no way for ace to know sabo took to the same habit immediately. that when faced with the absence of one another, they point-blank refuse to feed that empty feeling and live their lives walking side-by-side even if it's not physically possible to. taking that to any AU where they get to be adults together is so healing. that's a love built in the fabric of their souls. platonic or otherwise. plus the op world is very poly-friendly so even if you acknowledge this fate-deep relationship you can still let ace be a whore like he was meant to be.

It likes coiling its long serpent body around him and shoving its snout into the crook of his neck purring and crooning

WereDragon Ace who often stays in his noodle form bc people seem to find him more bearable this way :(

Transforms back occasionally and thats when Sabl wakes up with a hot guy in his bed hes frEAKING OUT like i didnt bring anyone home wheres Ace what did you do to him??? And Ace yawns shows off his cute lil fangs and hes like relax i can explain and in a goofy poof of smoke hes a lil critter noodle again (by little hes roughly the size of a very large tree dwelling snake)

Clicks his jaw and snorts fire at Sabo whos taking the news well but also CHANGE BACK I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS
