I personally hate saboace, it's a massive squick for me. I can still understand why other people ship it though. A lot of people love that childhood friends dynamic. I very much prefer to think of their relationship as only brotherly and platonic, but people can have other interpretations. Making a vow of brotherhood doesn't actually make them brothers, and relationships do change as people grow up. There's also cultural differences to be considered I think. The original text is in Japanese and that ship is a lot more popular in the Japanese fandom, so I'm sure there are plenty of reasons for that.

But hey, what do I know? I ship marace and that's plenty problematic too considering the age difference. It's all fiction anyway, I'll just mute or block or filter to avoid my notps and spend my time focusing on the things I like.

I agree! The ship isn't my cup of tea either and as long as they don't ship actual biological siblings I don't mind - I also think another factor as to why people ship it so much is the fanart? There's good fanart of saboxace and honestly? Good for them ngl💀 Wish all non-shippers were as mature as you are though, some people still don't understand the concept of minding their own business and it's frustrating, really, because at the end of the day it's all just fiction as you said v_v
