Who's a character you feel that Canon Miraculous Ladybug does the most disservice to? How would you fix it?

It's not going to be who you think.

Sabrina.

She's essentially Chloe's minion and canon keeps zig zagging back and forth on whether this is supposed to be a bad thing or not. Canon also can't seem to make up its mind on whether they're actually friends given how Chloe laments that she has no friends and nobody likes her while ignoring Sabrina crying over her leaving and getting upset enough to become akumatized when they have a fight. But it will sure go out of its way to force things back to that status quo where Sabrina is subservient to Chloe and Chloe is outright abusive to her. And no, it isn't funny nor does it give me any warm feeling seeing Sabrina be "accepted" back as Chloe's underling in Evilustrator or Antibug.

It also says something when out of all the classmates, she is the only one who didn't get an akuma episode that was fully her own. Her first akumatization, Vanisher, was just a lead up to Chloe's own akumatization in the episode "Antibug". And her second akumatization in "Miraculer" only happened because Hawk Moth tried to target and akumatize Chloe.

Sabrina clearly has no life that isn't centered around Chloe, and it's either played for laughs or portrayed as a GOOD thing by the other characters around her and in the show itself. In "Star Train", Sabrina was shown carrying luggage for Chloe including things for a spa treatment, and her own FATHER not only was aware of this, but encouraged it. This kind of feeds all the more into the issue that the adults of this show are incredibly stupid and useless.

She gets no personal focus. Whatever focus she DOES get is usually secondary to Chloe's issues of the day. Plus her subservience to Chloe is treated as a joke rather than an actual problem that should be addressed. Which is par from the course with how Chloe get away with everything in the show itself, but I digress. Sabrina is a lot of potential that much like everything else in this show, goes nowhere.

Evilustrator remains one of my least favorite episodes precisely because of how they did the B plot with Sabrina. It was the one time the series gave her focus and it gave some insight into the issues that Sabrina has, but rather than DO anything with that, it was played for laughs and ultimately went nowhere except right back to where things were at the start of the episode.

It kind of goes in lines with how the series itself never allows continuity, personal growth, or deviation from the status quo. It's also part of the reason there's a problem with Marinette being the only one to have to learn lessons.

Sabrina deserves better.

Dearest Chloe

Sabrina stared down at the blank page in front of her. In a way, the page seemed to mock her with its emptiness, of a task that was put off for far too long. How many years had she let things lapse, and for what reasons?

She shook her head. No, don't let the past take control. This is about the present and the future, no negative talk!

That was a difficult thing to put into practice, though she was trying. All of her success seemed to come with the help of her therapist, a very kind and understanding woman who encouraged Sabrina to stand up for herself, to embrace who she was...

...and to try and stay away from toxic influences.

“The thing about people like Chloe, dear, is that they have to believe they need help before seeking it out. Even then this might take her reaching rock bottom before the realization clicks in. You cannot force it. You have your own life to live and she may not listen to you anyways.”

It was a harsh truth. Maybe hearing that was a part of her own “rock bottom”? Sabrina mused about it as her capped pen tapped the top of the paper. Her father was the one who had first noticed something was off, in that she wasn't hanging around Chloe nearly as much now that the other girl had found what appeared to be a true kindred spirit in Lila. Try as she might, she couldn't get in between them...and she wasn't sure that she wanted to. In the end things had just petered out until one day Sabrina realized the other two had left her behind while shopping.

“People such as the one you're describing spread lies and half-truths to try and hide something in their own lives. Eventually that cost will have to be paid back; every lie is a debt to the truth. It may not look like it, but as they pile up it can take a toll on one's very soul and Sabrina, you don't strike me as person who wants to wallow in the dark waters.”

Madame Archambault was of course correct; the paths that Lila and Chloe were on were far from the person Sabrina truly was. She wanted to stand for the truth, and for justice, and at some point over the years she had strayed hard from those qualities. There was a line she couldn't cross, a line that was kind of evil or to be used in ways she didn't want to even imagine. Truthfully she wasn't even sure Chloe realized what was happening but her pleas fell on deaf ears.

“You said that once she locked you into her closet and wouldn't let you out until her homework was completed. Dear, that does not sound like friendship. If anything that sounds like a form of slavery, or servitude. Is that truly something which is worth it in the long run?”

No, it wasn't. Sabrina knew this now; that to bend to Chloe's will and do everything for the other girl, up to and including their combined homework, wasn't something born out of their friendship but more out of a twisted desire on her part to not end up alone which Chloe took full advantage of. The force of assertiveness that the other girl could be bent Sabrina to her will, enough that she was waking up in the morning and not recognizing who she was at times. The reflection showed a girl, yes, but one who hid or sacrificed everything for someone else.

“Sabrina. I want to assure you: it is alright to be alone. It isn't a bad thing. In fact, you may want to consider stepping away from being involved with your class for a while, even up until the end of the school year. A completely fresh start is coming with lycee, correct? It will allow you to recover and get in better touch with parts of yourself long forgotten, or that you haven't discovered yet.”

The advice appealed to Sabrina; because of her long-running status with Chloe she wasn't sure if any in the class would associate with her, let alone want to be friends. After discussing it with her father, she started to look at schools for lycee on the other side of Paris, far from where her current class might apply. It would be a totally new start, and for the time being she asked Madame Bustier to sit on her own somewhere in class. It was at the back but it allowed her to focus and be away from drama. She looked into hobbies long abandoned and took up painting, setting up a corner in her room to put an easel and canvas.

“The exercise that I have for you now is a hard one, but rewarding. It is to write a letter to those who have caused you difficulties, emotional or otherwise. It does not have to be sent, you don't even have to forgive them, dear. But it will allow you to move past the situation.”

The last day of the current school year was coming up. Sabrina had wanted this letter to be completed by that time so that she could close the chapter. But closure was proving to be elusive. What could be said to a person that didn't wish to listen or acknowledge the pain they had caused? Chloe had been a big part of her life for so long, enough that the thought of rebuilding after their separation seemed impossible.

However Sabrina had done it. She was well on her way to a lycee which focused on academics, where she hoped to study law. Some of the class had begun to make kind gestures of friendship and she had been invited to a party after graduation. Solitude wasn't as bad as she feared; finally getting used to her own company was a big win in her mind. She could smile at herself in the mirror. Things were going well.

She opened up her pen.

“Dearest Chloe,

Goodbye. And good luck.

Sabrina.”

Sabrina wasn't really sure what to do with the letter afterwards. The words were few and she knew that there was one thing to add which would truly sever the connection. It took until halfway through the summer before she worked up enough nerve. Standing outside of the Le Grand Paris hotel she stared down at the envelope that had a distinct bulge inside; a broach pin that Chloe had once given her as a sign of friendship. Or perhaps of buying Sabrina off, she was unsure now of the meaning. She had resolved to give it back or throw it into the Seine, to sever things and get rid of as many reminders of the past as possible.

She had heard Chloe wasn't there, that her mother had taken her somewhere in order to force the girl back in line. Such a fate wasn't what Sabrina would have wished for her in a million years; Audrey Bourgeois was a terrible mother and to be trapped with such a person would more than likely push Chloe in directions she didn't even want to think about. At the same time, Sabrina knew it was out of her control: even if she wanted to, Chloe was far out of sight and mind. The letter was left with a doorman and she turned to look back at the imposing building. A lot of her spare time was spent there, willingly and not. This was probably a place she'd never set foot in again, which was...alright. She had closed the chapter somewhat, and it was a success she'd bring up in therapy.

A bright smile crossed her face as she walked home.

Maribat – Those that were left Behind

Before anything, read the rules.

Okay, this prompt is… a lot, to say the least. I discussed this idea before with @natedogx15, but, this is a more “polished” version of it.

The concept is, do you know those Maribat fics where Marinette left class after Lila destroyed her reputation during the timeline of season 3? And then she returns dating a dc character? And everyone in class is like “Oh my! We were so stupid, sorry, Mari”?

Yeah, it’s based on this one… but with a twist! In this story, instead of the focus being on Marinette falling in love… it is about the class members that stayed in Paris!

In this AU, the story would start with the class hearing Marinette has moved away… some are shocked, but, believing Lila, are relieved she is away. Some of this include Alya, Nino, Chloe (who would have become Lila’s ally before for reasons to be discussed later) and the rest.

But one specific student is sad, because she knows the truth. And that student is… Sabrina! Basically, we moved her arc of Season 5 finale to the middle of Season 3 and now, she is redeemed.

(I am back on my Sabrina Phase, blame @sabrina-central for that)

The story isn’t over, though, because, since Marinette left, she needed to leave a powerful miraculous back in Paris to purify the akumas, and we get the Solaire Plume plot here to!

So, basically, this fic is Season 4 of miraculous with Rooster!Sabrina as the main character.

As time passes, though, more people start to notice Lila’s intentions, and Sabrina makes her own team to expose Lila. This team is formed by other side characters that deserve more screen time, like Nathaniel, Marc and Alix. (Maybe Kagami and Luka could be thrown in the mix too, but, who knows).

Who wouldn’t love a team formed by Solaire Plume, Ryuko, Viperion, Caprikid and Dog!Marc?

I have no idea where this can go, but, it’s interesting none the less. I just think that it would be cool a fic of miraculous where the main characters aren’t Marinette, Alya, Adrien, Nino and Chloe.

MLB fandom Math be like ......

MLB fandom Maths is calling Adrienette toxic because they dislike Marinette's obsessive behaviour of Adrien and accuse her of stalking but ship Feligami despite how Felix also stalked Kagami and did worse than Marinette by kidnapping her.

MLB fandom Maths is hating on Kagami because she is getting in the way of Adrienette by having feelings for Adrien but is fine with Luka dating Marinette and supporting Luka at the same time.

MLB fandom Maths is saying Chloe doesn't deserve redemption because she never felt remorse or properly apologized for her actions but at the same time, forgive Felix and support his redemption arc despite him doing worse than Chloe and not uttering a single apology or properly repenting for his crimes.

MLB fandom Math is slandering Alya because they think she is a bad friend for believing Lila over Marinette as well as making a few ignorant decisions but go ahead and call Kagami a better friend despite her telling Felix LB's identity without her permission.

MLB fandom Math is attacking and cancelling small creators by accusing them of predator behaviour when they have made a slight mistake but are silent when a big content creator is openly showing predator behaviour.

MLB fandom Math is being quick to call out the toxic behaviour of some Chloe/Felix/Lila stans but staying quiet when some toxic Maribug/Adrichat or Adrienette stans also show signs of aggression, some even go as far as to support their behaviour (e.g what happened to that one Lila fan)

MLB fandom Math is celebrating the fact Chloe gets sent off to live with her abusive mother and is glad that she is written out of the show, justifying their opinion by saying she deserves to be abused by Audrey but if you say the same thing about Felix, they will go mad and call you an abuse apologist

MLB fandom math dislikes Sabrina's redemption because she only betrayed Chloe because she wasn't being benefitted by her friendship with Chloe and was being replaced but go ahead and support Nathalie's redemption when she ALSO betrayed Gabriel because she was also not being benefitted anymore by their partnership.

The Matter of Sabrina and the Dog Miraculous

The Dog Miraculous has had a interesting history in Miraculous with it's powers being pivotal to gamechanging episodes such as Risk and Emotion ever since the introduction of it's powers in Penalteam in Season 4 with Sabrina becoming it's temporary wielder to help defeat a akumatised Chloe.

I've never really felt comfortable with Sabrina being the wielder of the Dog Miraculous, it isn't because of her behaviour up until season 5, though that is a massive missed opportunity on the part of the writers, but rather the connotations of the Dog.

Sabrina's appearances throughout Miraculous up until Season 5 have been as Chloe's minion doing whatever Chloe wills be it doing her homework or assisting Chloe in messing with her classmates. This behaviour makes me think of the negative connotation of the Dog where it is associated with those who are enslaved to a higher power, doing what is required of them without regard to their own needs or the consequences of said actions.

In summary, I'm not comfortable with Sabrina using the Dog Miraculous specifically because of the association of Dogs with the lack of free will or the ability to act on behalf of yourself, which comes to mind because of Sabrina being Chloe's lackey up until season 5. It is a connotation that really only applies to Sabrina.

First time, I saw your creation when you’re comparing Jiayi/Chloe with canon version and I’m so impressed with your art style and the whole concept that you made so far.

As Chloe fanon enthusiast, what kind redemption that you’re going to make?

Will she can let go to get her mom’s approval who never know about existence? Also, her position as Bee holder would replace regarding you’re going to use Queen Wasp in your story.

As for what kind of redemption it is, I feel It might be a little hard to really outline the timeline of that arc for her? Style Queen is happening, and Chloe's need for approval or attention from her mother is definitely still there, but to really redeem herself she will need to not only let go of that, but also recognize the kind of person she was up until now. And this is where Sarbina comes in

It's a very similar situation to Jiayi and Lila's. The two know each other in and out, so there are many many opportunities for conflicts that can get very personal rather than just a simple callout. No spoilers, but there might be a thing or two happening with these two to really hit Chloe in the gut, but we all know that's the best way to build character wink wink

All in all, I really enjoy planning out her redemption even If I can't share it with others just yet.. soon enough I will 🤭

GMW AU where Maya is the foster kid of the Matthews and Shawn and Angela are still together/visit them and as the show goes on their bond strengthens but in s2 the finale can be a two parter and Maya has to leave the Matthews and obviously she doesn’t want to leave Riley and attend the same high school as her friends so Shawn and Angela decide to adopt her because of the genuine connection they made and maybe a little twist can be thrown in like “oh maya already has a new family ready to take care of her” unaware that the new family are Shawn and Angela until they reveal it themselves. Anyway... What if there was an akuma going after Damocles & Mayor Bourgeois where both got exposed for their crimes as Damocles using the school funds for his owls and his favorite sport teams that isn't a school related. But also accepted bribes from Chloe Bourgeois and Lila Rossi who claims to be the daughter of the embassador here in Paris which is false but the school doesn't know that except Chloe and Sabrina. Chloe redeemed herself with a help by Marinette during the night but helping Sabrina to see the light that Lila is a liar.

As the Mayor Bourgeois himself got in trouble with Damocles after revealing his secrets which causes students to be mad at the Principal for not upgrading the school as he should be doing. All the school funds that they had worked on as a class representative and part of the student council is completely gone cause of HIM there will be no more field trips or events they wish to go. But Mayor Bourgeois was revealed that he is working with Hawkmoth which causes the parisians to be pissed. But to Chloe she doesn't want to follow her daddy's footsteps she perfer either being a lawyer or being a model with Marinette as MDC.

Sabrina doesn’t want to be a slave, but she feels like she has to so she can keep Chloe’s friendship.

Chloe was Sabrina’s only friend for a long time, and if Sabrina ever does anything to cause Chloe to not be her friend anymore, she suddenly has NOTHING. She rather be friends with Chloe than be friendless. Sometimes people are willing to do anything for friendship, no matter what form it may take. I’m not saying that it’s morally right and that kind of mindset should be supported, but that’s the reality of it sometimes.

“WELL THAT’S NOT CHLOE’S FAULT! SABRINA NEEDS TO TRY TO MAKE FRIENDS!”

LOOK, even if you ARE right, do you guys honestly think it’s that easy for EVERY SINGLE PERSON on the planet to make friends?

It’s not easy for some people, and Sabrina is unfortunately one of those individuals in the show. There is such thing as shy people. There is such thing as socially awkward people. Also, It’s mighty funny how when it comes to others breaking out of toxic relationships, like Chloe breaking away from her mom or Adrien breaking away from his dad, people feel sorry for them, promotes them and supports them to get over of said toxic relationships. However, when it comes to Sabrina breaking away from Chloe, nobody gives a dam.

“BUT SHE ACTIVELY STAYS WITH CHLOE! WHY DID SHE LEAVE MARINETTE?”

1). It’s hard to leave toxic relationships in a instant. That’s why she went back. It hard to leave something that you was about for so long. Yes, Marinette ghosted Sabrina, “just like Chloe did”, but again, she went back to Chloe because Chloe is her only hope of always having a friend, of having somebody.

2). It’s just bad writing. Period. Blame the bad writing, not Sabrina.

“Well that’s freaking terrible! She needs to grow a backbone!”

Your 100% right. However, I think people are WAY too harsh about it. Sabrina isn’t a bad person, she makes bad decisions. There’s a difference.

Saying that you don’t want to care about someone who “WANTS” to be a slave is just like saying that you can’t care about someone who chooses to stay in an abus*ive relationship. One thing that I can’t stand is people blaming the victim. It’s also funny that people always complain about Marinette’s trauma and misfortune being treated as a joke, but Sabrina? Nah, she’s a nothing character. She’s not important enough…

But yeah. Y’all keep blaming the victim.

A lot of people probably think my favourite character in ML is Marinette. That's not true, though she is second (and defend her to the death I always will.) Top of the list, which may be surprising, is Sabrina Raincomprix.

There's a soft spot that I have for her in particular (not just from the fact that I look similar), and there's so much potential in the character and it dismays me to see it wasted. Season 4 was especially bad in this way as they literally show her being locked into a closet, essentially a slave of Chloe...

...Not to get too personal, but I know how it feels to be enslaved to someone who believes they are stronger, more powerful, more assertive. It greatly bothered me to see that's how the show treats her, that she can't ever "rise above".

Thus, I turn to fan works that have her involved. Or I create my own. That in itself can be difficult as so many of the stories out there involve her being in a relationship with her bully, something I cannot condone. Some are from the start of the fandom, back four years ago, and aren't completed. Some are wonderful stories, including one where my username came from and is Sabrina-related. Much like anything in ML that isn't "Love Square" related it can be difficult to find content for the other characters and Sabrina isn't an exception to this.

In effect, I tend to believe that Sabrina deserves better just as much as Marinette. We probably aren't going to get this in canon, so fan works are going to have to do.

She can be more than "not being able to get it".

Quirk: Uproar (Whenever Kim touches someone with all five fingers of his hand, that person's quirk goes completely out of control for five minuets!)

Kim is a star swimmer from Vietnam and an up and coming pro hero student... those are mostly his only good qualities. Back home, Kim was really know for the jokes he played on his other classmates. Some of them were just harmless pranks. Some of them were Kim using his quirk on other students, causing massive mayhem.

Zoé Lee is the daughter of the dead rich man Mr. Lee and the world famous fashion designer / Pro Hero, Audrey Bourgeois. Her whole life, her mother molded Zoé into her image: a "proper" evil rich woman. Zoé kept up the act for most of her life, even making friends with the vilest rich kids imaginable. But everything changed when Zoé fell in love with a 'common' girl. Her friends shunned her, and her mother decided to get her out of the picture by sending her away to U.A. But Zoé will have her revenge, she knows that her mother is making deals with villains in exchange for wealth. Now, she just needs to learn how to prove it.

Rose Lavillant is another exchange student from France and Juleka's girlfrend. She has an inherited illness but is properly medicated for hero work and is surrounded by love from her family and girlfriend. Rose is a bi lebebad. Rose is a bi lessbien... Rose like Juleka.

Quirk: Tigress (Juleka can do anything a tiger can! Including be big and punch scratch people to death!)

Juleka Couffaine is the daughter of Anarka Couffaine, the ex wife of pro hero Jagged Stone and mother of Luka Couffaine. Juleka barely knows her brother because her father took him away. Juleka dosen't have many friends at school except her girlfriend Rose. All her life, Juleka feels like she was background character... but now, a change. Juleka is attending U.A. far away from home with her girlfriend and is finnaly going to spend time with her brother! Nothing could ruin this... except Chloe & Sabrina being there.

Quirk: Vanish (By relaxing her vocal cords, Sabrina can turn her body invisible. She can also extend her invisibility to objects she touches.)

Sabrina Raincomprix is the daughter of the police chief of Paris and best friends with Chloe Bourgeois. Once, they were equals, real best friends. But Chloe's quirk & her father changed her for the worst. She began seeing the people around her as tools to mock and laugh at. Sabrina mocked them too, laughed at them too, liked bullying the others with her best friend... until Chloe started bullying her. Chloe thinks that without her, Sabrina has nothing. But Sabrina knows that without her, Chloe is the one that has nothing. Blowing up her dad's life savings so she can attend U.A. along with the blonde, Sabrina is determined to make Chloe her real best friend again, even if it means making her feel worthless... or making everyone else feel worthless.

Rooster!Sabrina AU

Before anything, read the rules.

This AU could work as a compliment to the past one (Emperor Moth AU). 

In this AU, Master Fu, believing that Ladybug and Chat Noir would need more help to fight against Hawk Moth, he ended up deciding that he would also give someone the rooster miraculous (the second more powerful one). 

How Sabrina would receive the miraculous: Chloé would send Sabrina to do something for her and tell her to be quick. She would meet with Master Fu in the middle of the way and help him. 

He would see her as worthy and give her a miraculous. 

Before you ask me, she would try to tell Chloé in the beginning. But, Chloe being Chloe, would always interrupt her every time. Eventually, though, Sabrina would understand the importance of secret identities and would stop trying. 

Solaire Plume (Her Heroine name)’s powers would work a little bit differently than in canon though. She would write a word in her notebook and it would create an alternate form to her outfit that gives her other powers, something like the Max Steel different forms, the effects on Yume Nikki, or the power of Seamstress in @natedogx15​ ‘s Miraculous Descendentant AU. 

Her introduction could be set in season 1 or season 2 beginnings, 2hich means it could happen in Origins (part 1 or 2), or The Collector. Perhaps some chapters in between, like EvillIllustrator, Befana, Riposte... or another.

Sabrina’s arc in this AU would be slowly finding confidence in her already existing skills (it was revealed in one of the miraculous secrets episodes she is the second best student in class, only after Adrien) and slowly drift apart from Chloe. 

Besides, she would join the art club, make friends with Marinette, Marc, Nathaniel and Alix, and becoming the class president on her own.

She and Marinette would find out about each other’s identities in either Volpina or Heroes Day. 

Season 3, though, would be the highest point on the Sabrina’s arc. Sabrina, being so smart, would notice Lila’s lies, and would hate what she is doing to the class. 

Why? She was Chloe’s servant for years, and she doesn’t want anyone else to follow the same fate. This would lead to some complicated situation between her and the class. Fortunately, she would be on Marinette’s side. 

(Then, this whole idea I discussed with Nate could happen) 

Season 4 would be interesting for Sabrina facing the Lila and Chloe alliance, this powerful Akumas and needing to make a new supehero team that she can trust.
