How people in the USA loved nature and knew the ways of the plants in the past vs. nowadays
I have been in the stacks at the library, reading a lot of magazine and journal articles, selecting those that are from over fifty years ago.
I do this because I want to see how people thought and the tools they had to come up with their ideas, and see if I can get perspective on the thoughts and ideas of nowadays
I've been looking at the journals and magazines about nature, gardening, plants, and wildlife, focusing on those from 1950-1970 or thereabouts. These are some unstructured observations.
The discourse about spraying poisons on everything in your garden/lawn has been virtually unchanged for the past 70 years; the main thing that's changed is the specific chemicals used, which in the past were chemicals now known to be horribly dangerous and toxic. In many cases, just as today, the people who opposed the poisons were considered as whackos overreacting to something mostly safe with a few risks that could be easily minimized. In short, history is not on the pesticides' side.
Compared with 50-70 years ago, today the "wilderness" areas of the USA are doing much better nowadays, but it actually appears that the areas with lots of human habitation are doing much worse nowadays.
I am especially stricken by references to wildflowers. There has definitely been a MASSIVE disappearance of flowers in the Eastern United States. I can tell this because of what flowers the old magazines reference as common or familiar wildflowers. Many of them are flowers that seem rare to me, which I have only seen in designated preserves.
There are a lot more lepidopterans (butterflies and moths) presumed to be familiar to the reader. And birds.
Yes, land ownership in the USA originated with colonization, but it appears that the preoccupation with who owns every little piece of land on a very nitpicking level has emerged more recently? In the magazines there is a sense of natural places as an unacknowledged commons. It is assumed that a person has access to "The creek," "The woods," "The field," "The pond" for simple rambling or enjoyment without personally owning property or directly asking permission to go onto another person's property.
There is very little talk of hiking and backpacking. I don't think I saw anything in the magazines about hiking or going on hikes, which is strange because nowadays hiking is the main outdoor activity people think of. Nature lovers 50-70 years ago described many more activities that were not very physically active, simply watching the birds or tending to one's garden or going on a nice walk. I feel this HAS to do with the immediately above point.
Gardening seems like it was more common, like in general. The discussion is about gardening without poisons or unsustainable practices, instead of trying to convince people to garden at all.
Overall, the range of animals and plants culturally considered to be common or familiar "backyard" creatures has narrowed significantly, even as the overall conservation status of animals and plants has improved.
This, to me, suggests two things that each may be possible: first, that the soils and environments of our suburbs and houses have sustained such a high level of cumulative damage that the life forms they once supported are no longer able to live, or second, that our way of managing our yards and inhabited areas has become steadily more destructive. Perhaps it may be the case that the minimum "acceptable" standard of lawn management has become more fastidious.
In conclusion, I feel that our relationship with nature has become more distant, even as the number of people who abstractly support the preservation of "wilderness" has increased. In the past, these wilderness preservation initiatives were a harder sell, but somehow, more people were in more direct contact with the more mundane parts of nature like flowers and birds, and had a personal relationship with those things.
And somehow, even with all the DDT and arsenic, the everyday outdoor spaces surrounding people's homes were not as broadly hostile to life even though the people might have FELT more hostile towards life. In 1960, a person hates woodpeckers, snakes and moths and his yard is constantly plagued by them: in 2024, a person enjoys the concept of woodpeckers, snakes and moths but rarely sees them, and is more likely to think of parks and preserves as the place they live and need to be protected. Large animals are mostly doing better in 2024, but the littlest ones, the wildflowers and bugs and birds, have declined steeply. It's not because "wilderness" is less; it seems more because non-wilderness has declined in quality.

To His Royal Highness The Prince,
I have arrived at the Academy safely. Ty Lee and I were given leave from classes today, to allow us to acclimate to the environment of the school, but tomorrow, we will join the others in our year for lessons. I promise that I will work hard, so that Your Highness’s good name is not sullied by poor performance on my part.
If it does not trouble Your Highness greatly, and if it is not presumptuous of me to make a request like this, please feed Bian a treat when she reaches the palace. She is working hard, too.
Ever Your Highness’s humble and obedient servant, Ursa
P.S. Regretfully, I must report that I have still regained nothing in the way of my memories.
The messenger hawk that Prince Zuko had given you was a beautiful animal, almost draconian in appearance, with eyes like amber and a queenly crest of russet feathers. She had an enormous wingspan and talons so large that if you handed her a scroll, she would be able to take it between them and then fly away without waiting for you to strap it to her back.
“Woah, so pretty!” Ty Lee said as the Royal Falconer wheeled the caged bird into your room, vocalizing your exact thoughts at seeing the magnificent hawk. “I’ve never seen one so big.”
“Pretty’s one word for it,” the falconer said, shaking his head. “She’s likely the finest bird Agni’s ever seen. Actually, she was meant to be a coronation gift for Prince Zuko, but he came to the aviary the other day and told me to give her to you.”
You were so enraptured by the hawk that you almost did not notice what the man had said, but when his words registered, you immediately straightened your back and gave him an incredulous look.
“This bird was meant to be the prince’s?” you said.
“She was, but like I said, she’s yours now,” the falconer said. “By order of that very prince himself.”
You bit your tongue, feeling equal parts embarrassed and guilty about the gift. Although you knew he was doing it for his own reasons, you still thought it was strange for Prince Zuko to be paying so much attention to you. Even if he had saved you, what cause was there to give you such a grand bird? A normal one would’ve been fine. A smaller, more average messenger hawk was probably more fitting for who you were, so why instead was the finest bird Agni had ever seen sitting before you?
“Does she have a name?” you said.
“We don’t name the hawks,” the falconer said. “You’re her owner now, though, so if you want to, you can.”
You thought about it for a second. “Bian.”
The falconer wrinkled his nose, giving Bian a look that she ignored entirely, too busy preening her feathers to notice. You waited for him to say something, anything, but it took him a while before he did.
“It’s an interesting name,” he said.
“Is something wrong with it?” you said. “I don’t know why I chose it. I can change it, if you’d like.”
“It’s not my place to be demanding you change your own hawk’s name,” he said, bowing at you.
“Wait,” you said. “Before you leave — must I keep her caged all of the time?”
“It’s not really common for anyone to do otherwise,” the falconer said. “But I suppose she won’t go anywhere unless you tell her to, so it’s fine if you let her out.”
Although he was obviously hinting that you should not do it, you leaned over and unlatched the door to Bian’s cage. You weren’t sure why, but something about seeing her trapped like that made you feel claustrophobic yourself, like the metal bars were encroaching on your neck, like it was your flight which was restricted.
Bian did not move for a bit, and then hesitantly, she peeked her head out of the door. When she realized that she was free, that the door was open, she flapped her wings, and with a great gust of wind, she took off and perched on your windowsill.
“They should know how to take care of her at the school, since most students bring their own messenger hawks, so you won’t have to worry about her there,” the falconer said. “And if you ever come to the palace again, you can leave her with me.”
“As you say, sir,” you said. “I don’t know enough about messenger hawks and their care or keeping, so I will defer to your expertise when it comes down to it.”
“Good,” he said. “Have a nice day, Miss Ursa.”
“And you as well,” you said, waving at him before racing to the windowsill to admire the roosting Bian. She peered at you suspiciously, but when you raised your fingers and rested them on the space between her eyes, she did not so much as snap her beak at you.
“Be careful!” Ty Lee said. “Messenger hawks usually aren’t that friendly. They’re a postal service, not pets.”
“It’s alright,” you said, stroking Bian’s head, smiling as she closed her eyes and crooned at you. “I think she’s different. Well, at least, I don’t think she’ll bite me or anything like that. She’s nice.”
“If you say so,” Ty Lee said. “Though I think I will stay far away, if that’s okay with you.”
“That’s your prerogative,” you said. “But I’m not putting her back in that cage, so don’t expect that.”
“Sure, I won’t! Anyways, she’ll live in the school’s aviary while we’re there, so it’s not a big deal,” she said.
“Oh, true,” you said. “Do you think they’ll let me visit her still?”
“They wouldn’t stop you. How else would you send letters? Although, I can’t really understand why Zuko even gave you a hawk in the first place. Who are you going to be writing to?” she said, picking her bag in one hand and yours in the other.
“I think he wanted me to write to him,” you said, whistling at Bian, who whistled back before she realized you were actually calling her, at which she rustled herself alert. “Bian, do you know where the Royal Fire Academy is? That’s where we’re going. You can either come with us or fly there on your own.”
Bian cocked her head before diving back into her cage, landing on the perch and tucking her head under her wing. You glanced at Ty Lee, who shrugged, obviously as confused as you were.
“I guess I won’t close the door, but if she wants to be in there of her own volition, then I can’t take the decision from her,” you said.
“At least it’ll be easier to take her to the academy,” Ty Lee said. “Speaking of which, we should hurry up and go — I think the carriage driver is waiting for us.”
The carriage was covered in gold and brandished with the emblem of the Fire Nation. A dragon moose was in the harness, dozing off, its ears drooping lazily as it napped. The driver himself was in a similar state, resting his chin in his hands, his hat low over his head to protect him from the sun.
“Sorry we’re so late!” Ty Lee chirped at him. He awoke in a flurry of flailing limbs, looking around wildly before letting out a deep breath when he noticed that it was just you and Ty Lee. “The falconer came to give Ursa a messenger hawk, so that took a bit of time, but we’re here now!”
“It’s not an issue,” the driver said, patting the dragon moose on the rump and swinging off his bench, taking the bags from Ty Lee’s hands. She relinquished them easily, watching as he put them under your seats in the carriage, and then she turned to you.
“Give him Bian’s cage, so that he can put her in there as well,” she said.
“He won’t put her under the seat, right?” you fretted, gripping the bars of the open cage.
“Of course not, silly! He’ll just put her on the carriage floor or something, and we’ll have to sit around her,” she said.
“Okay, if you say so,” you said. “Sir Driver, please take the utmost of care with Bian when you put her away.”
“You don’t have to be that formal with him,” Ty Lee whispered to you as the driver gave you a strange look before grabbing Bian’s cage, though he did gentle his movements when you frowned at how rough he was being. “He’s just a driver.”
“Sorry,” you whispered back. “I would just feel bad if I didn’t address him politely.”
“They’re used to it,” she said, leaping into the carriage once the driver had left and extending her hand out to you to help you in. You grabbed onto it and let her pull you in beside her. Bian squawked indignantly when you narrowly avoided kicking her cage over, and you muttered an apology to her as you sat across from Ty Lee, folding your hands in your lap and crossing your legs at the ankles.
“Is the academy far from here?” you said.
“Not by much. It’s a quick journey, since it’s inside of the volcano as well,” she said.
“Volcano?” you said.
“Oh, sorry, I forgot you wouldn’t have known much about that! The Fire Nation’s capital is inside of a dormant volcano, but of course, the entire city isn’t actually located in the main crater. Only the most high-status dwellings and government buildings are here; everything else is on the sides of the volcano, just because there isn’t enough space for them here,” she said.
“The Royal Fire Academy is included in that?” you said.
“It’s where all the children of the Fire Nation elite go to school,” she said. “Naturally, it’d be in here, too!”
“Ah, that’s sensible,” you said, for you hadn’t thought that through until she had mentioned it. In fairness, you also hadn’t known that the inner circle of the Fire Nation was located inside the crater of a dormant volcano, but then again, what could be a greater representation of the nation’s pride than the subjugation of nature’s own version of fire?
“It’s a very beautiful building,” Ty Lee said. “From what I remember, anyways. Nothing’s as beautiful as the palace, but the academy comes close. And the grounds…you’ll love them, Ursa! Even though I didn’t like my time there that much, I still have some good memories of just how amazing the gardens were. I can’t wait to show you around!”
“I can’t wait to see everything,” you said. “Is there a library?”
“Duh,” Ty Lee said. “It’s a school. Of course there’s a library. Do you like reading or something?”
“I don’t know. I can’t remember, but I’m sure that I’ll be much behind everyone else, so I’ll probably need to do a lot of catching up so that I can still get good marks. A library is my best bet at finding the information I need,” you said.
“You’re so studious,” Ty Lee said. “I’ve always just thought to myself that as long as I pass, it’s fine!”
“The prince has gone through so much effort to ensure my acceptance in the academy,” you said. “The least I can do for him is prove that it wasn’t a waste.”
Ty Lee beamed at you. “You’re amazing! I bet he’ll be really grateful that you’re so dedicated.”
“It’s good to hear that,” you said. “Besides, maybe it’ll help jog my memory if I read about history and science and other such things. According to Prince Zuko, I was a soldier before he found me, but I doubt he knows anything about my hobbies or preferences, so there’s no telling what might spark something in my mind.”
This was the true reason. Though it wasn’t a lie to say that you wanted to make the prince happy, your own identity was more important to you. The memories of the girl named Ursa, who she had been, who she had loved…you wanted to know all of it. You wanted to know who you were, not in anyone else’s words but in your own.
Ty Lee did not seem to judge you. She only smiled sadly before turning to look out the window, an obvious sign that the conversation was over.
She had been right; the journey to the academy did not take much longer than the duration of your conversation. You were there before you knew it, before you were really prepared for what that meant, but it was irrelevant. Your personal feelings on the matter weren’t important, because this was where you would now spend your time. You were going to be a proper Fire Nation girl, a lady, one who could rejoin society as someone that even a prince might be proud of.
Bian was carted off to the academy’s aviary before you could even think to wish her farewell, but beyond promising yourself you would visit her later, there was nothing you could do about it. That was because a tall, stately woman before you was now commanding all of your attention, her pinched face souring when she saw your plain clothes and meager possessions.
“So you are the Ursa that the prince insisted attend my school,” the woman, who must’ve been the Headmistress, said. “And here we have the infamous dropout of the academy, Ty Lee.”
Something about the Headmistress seemed to cow even the perpetually sunny Ty Lee, for she only ducked her head and folded her hands behind her back in deference.
“Yes, Headmistress,” she said. Following her example, you hoped you were doing it correctly.
“Yes, Headmistress,” you said.
“You two are probably the most sorry students I’ve seen in all my years at this institution,” she said. “You’re lucky that you are who you are and that you know who you know. If it weren’t for the royal family’s interference, then mark my words: you would not be standing here now. Neither of you.”
“Thank you, Headmistress,” Ty Lee said.
“Thank you, Headmistress,” you echoed.
“Luckily, two of our students still don’t have roommates, so there’s at least space for you both to stay. For as long as you can bear to, anyways,” the Headmistress said, the latter part of her statement pointed at Ty Lee, who did not even argue. “Ty Lee, you will room with Kaho, and Ursa, you will be with Jia-Li.”
You had been hoping that you would get to stay with Ty Lee, but there was only so much that you could expect to go your way. Although you had no idea who Jia-Li was, you hoped that she would at least be friendly enough that you could live with her without much complaint.
Ty Lee did not seem optimistic about the proposition of rooming with Kaho. Her sweet face crumpled, but she did not speak up. You wondered what kind of person Kaho could be, if even Ty Lee did not want to live with her.
“Yes, Headmistress,” you said, speaking for the both of you when it became evident that Ty Lee was far too distressed to say anything.
“I will show you to your rooms. You arrived too late to attend today’s classes, so you will be excused, but I expect the both of you to be present tomorrow. At this school, education is our priority, and special admission or not, no one is exempt from this,” the Headmistress said.
“Of course, Headmistress,” you said once again. “I am eager to begin learning.”
She glanced at you out of the corner of her eye before turning away. “Good. Enthusiasm is the first step to success. We’ll see; maybe we can make something halfway respectable out of you after all.”
The room you were to share with Jia-Li had a heavy, plain door, though two placards hung on it, the left emblazoned with the characters of your name, the right with hers. The Headmistress did not even wait for you to enter before marching off with Ty Lee, presumably to where Kaho’s room was.
You opened the door gingerly, cringing back preemptively in case Jia-Li was of an easily startled temperament. When there was no blast of fire in your direction, you stepped in, admiring the small room and getting your first glance at your new roommate.
She had long, silky hair tied in a ponytail with a red ribbon, and her eyes, which were trained on a scroll, were the same color as volcano-glass. The bed on the left of the room was clearly hers, as its blankets were messy instead of neatly made, and she was sitting at the desk by its foot. There were paintings hung on her side of the room, but the side that must’ve been yours was noticeably bare, likely in preparation for your arrival.
“Are you Jia-Li?” you said when she did not look up. She dropped the scroll in her hands and sprang to her feet, her cheeks flushed and her palms clasped together in apology.
“Yes, I am! I’m sorry, I didn’t notice you coming in. Are you Ursa?” she said. You wanted to say no, because you still didn’t feel very much like that was who you were, but you just nodded your head.
“It’s nice to meet you. I think we’re going to be roommates?” you said.
“Yes, they brought your things up just now. It’s nice to meet you, too! My last roommate left after losing an Agni Kai, so I’ve been living on my own for a bit. It’ll be nice to have someone here with me again,” she said.
“Do you get kicked out if you lose an Agni Kai?” you said.
“No?” Jia-Li said. “It’s just a dishonorable thing. She got so embarrassed she had to leave, but it’s not like anyone made her go. Actually, she lost to Kaho, so no one was even judging her for losing. Kaho’s only lost an Agni Kai once, and that was to Princess Azula, so it doesn’t even count.”
There it was again: Princess Azula. She must’ve been Prince Zuko’s sister, but everyone said her name differently. Almost reverently, though they never said the prince’s name like that. It was strange. You weren’t sure if you ever wanted to meet the princess, if she inspired this kind of terror in people.
“Sorry,” you said. “I probably should’ve known that. Actually, I probably did know that, but — I’m not sure if they told you or anything, but I don’t have any memories.”
Jia-Li blinked. “They didn’t mention it, but that’s good to know. Who are you the daughter of? They must be pretty distraught that you’re like this.”
“I don’t know. I’m not the daughter of anyone,” you said. “If I have parents or siblings or a family, they are lost somewhere in my mind, along with everything else I cannot recall.”
“Not the daughter of anyone? Then how’d you end up in the academy? It’s infamous for being selective and only open to the children of the nobility,” Jia-Li said. It didn’t seem like she was upset or scandalized by the fact that you, her new roommate, were just some ordinary girl — she just appeared to be confused.
“Actually, I was found by Prince Zuko while injured and taken to the palace to be healed,” you said. “Now that I am in a somewhat better shape, he arranged for me to attend the academy so that I can rejoin Fire Nation society in a proper way and understand what kind of world I am living in.”
Jia-Li’s jaw dropped. “You’re the one here on the royal family’s scholarship?”
“I didn’t know that was a well-known thing…” you said, rubbing the back of your neck sheepishly, stepping into the room fully. Jia-Li’s face lit up as you opened the bags Mai had packed for you and began to shake out your things to set them up in the room.
“Kaho’s been furious since she heard about it!” she said. “She’s always tried to gain favor from the royal family and failed, so to hear that a girl is coming to the academy that has the very thing she lacks has had her in knots.”
The name Kaho was familiar to you, and not just because Jia-Li had mentioned her earlier. You tried to think about where you might know her from, and then you realized that she was Ty Lee’s roommate, the one that she had been upset about.
“Is she someone dangerous?” you said.
“Depends. Are you talented with bending?” Jia-Li said.
“I’m not even a bender,” you said. Jia-Li winced.
“Then yes, she’s dangerous,” she said. “If I were you, I’d steer clear of her.”
“Are you a Firebender?” you said. Jia-Li smiled, holding out her palm, where a small flame blossomed.
“I’m passable enough. Certainly, I’m no prodigy, but I can do most of the intermediate forms, and I’m starting to try some of the more advanced ones, too,” she said. “That, combined with my brother’s friendship with Kaho’s, is enough for her to mostly leave me alone.”
“I’ll do my best to avoid her,” you said. “Though I don’t even know who she is, so it’ll be difficult.”
“I’ll look out for you,” Jia-Li promised. “Actually, my best advice would be to avoid people you don’t know in general. Most girls here aren’t that nice.”
“But I only know you and Ty Lee,” you said. Jia-Li nodded.
“That’s enough. Two friends is more than most people have, and it’s better to have two actual friends than ten false ones,” she said.
“How do I know that you’re an actual friend?” you said before clapping your hand over your mouth. “I’m sorry. I don’t know why I said that.”
She laughed. “It’s okay. That’s a good question; one whose answer you will have to determine for yourself. However, whether you think I’m a true friend or not, you’ll have to live with me, so for both our sakes, I hope you come to a more positive conclusion. In the meantime, though, I have to go to afternoon lessons. I’m assuming you’ve been excused from them?”
“Yes, I have been,” you said. “I’m to start with classes tomorrow.”
Jia-Li made a face. “Lucky. You should try to get some rest while you can.”
“I already can’t. I need to spend some time reviewing so that I’m prepared for class tomorrow. I’m already starting off at a disadvantage; I have to do what I can to close the gap between me and everyone else, so that my performance does not reflect poorly on the prince,” you said.
Jia-Li looked impressed. “I’ll leave you to it, then. If you ever need help with your homework or studying or anything, let me know. I’m not the top student at the academy or anything, but my grades are decent.”
“Who’s the top student?” you said. Jia-Li gave you a knowing look.
“It was Princess Azula, before she left, and ever since, it’s been Kaho,” she said.
“Not exactly a person I should be asking for tutoring, then,” you said in defeat.
“Not exactly,” Jia-Li agreed. “Anyways, see you tonight!”
“Tonight? Is something happening?” you said.
“Yeah,” she said. “We’re sleeping. In the same room. As we will be, until the end of the term.”
“Oh, right. I forgot,” you said. Jia-Li smiled, patting you on the shoulder as she walked out.
“Bye, Ursa,” she said.
Once your things were unpacked, you thought about trying to find Ty Lee, but Jia-Li’s warning about Kaho still rang in your head, and considering Kaho was Ty Lee’s roommate, it would probably be best if you avoided that area overall. Besides, you didn’t know where their room was, so even if you weren’t afraid of meeting Kaho, you wouldn’t be able to find Ty Lee anyways.
You were just about sitting down to write a letter to Prince Zuko, telling him about your first day, when someone burst into your room. It wasn’t Jia-Li — you didn’t think she possessed that much energy — but it was still someone familiar to you: Ty Lee.
“You must’ve read my mind,” you said. “I was thinking about how I’d like to meet you.”
“Ursa, things are just horrid! My roommate is Kaho, and she’s just like I remember her being!” Ty Lee wailed, throwing herself into your arms. You barely had the self-possession or advance warning to catch her, and then the only thing you could do was awkwardly pat her on the back, looking around and wishing there was someone else here to help.
“Do you know Kaho from before you left the academy?” you said.
“Do I ever,” Ty Lee muttered. “She’s the reason I’m even friends with Azula.”
“How does that work?” you said.
“She’s insane, that’s how,” Ty Lee said. “Kaho, I mean. She was jealous of how much attention the boys at the Royal Fire Academy for Boys were giving me, so she challenged me to an Agni Kai! Mind you, I’m not even a Firebender.”
“I thought you could only participate in an Agni Kai if you were one, though,” you said.
“Yes, that’s right. She knows that, too. It doesn’t stop her from going around and calling one for at any inconvenience, no matter her opponent’s bending status. The thing is, technically, nonbenders are allowed to call someone else — namely, a Firebender — to represent them in the match,” Ty Lee said.
“Is it common to do that?” you said.
“It’s not really a rule that’s put into practice often, as most people wouldn’t challenge a nonbender to an Agni Kai — excepting Kaho, of course. Anyways, Kaho was the best Firebender in the academy, so no one dared to stand against her, even with that rule in place; no one, that is, but Azula.
“She agreed to be my proxy, though I think that’s just because she was annoyed with how Kaho liked to lord her prowess over everyone. Of course, she won, because she’s the most talented Firebender in the world, and ever since then, she’s been my friend,” Ty Lee finished.
“That’s great,” you said. “Though I’d expect it doesn’t endear you to Kaho any.”
“Not at all!” Ty Lee said. “And now you’re telling me I have to live with her? The Headmistress did this on purpose!”
“How can you know that? Kaho and Jia-Li were probably the only ones needing roommates. It was either me or you,” you said, leaving out the fact that you were secretly pleased that it was her and not you.
“Why didn’t she just make those two stay together and let us be roommates?” Ty Lee said. “I mean, really! Kaho leaves Jia-Li alone, something about their brothers being friends, I think, so they would’ve been fine as a pair, and of course we would’ve had so much fun together. But no. I swear, the Headmistress is punishing me!”
“What for? We just got here,” you said. She gave you a dull look.
“Well, I mean, I did drop out and run away to join the circus, you know…” she said. “It wasn’t the best look for the academy, that’s for sure. She definitely hates me for it.”
“That’s true,” you said. “You should just spend as much time as possible in my room.”
“Sure thing!” she said, like she had been planning on doing that anyways but was pleased to have an official invitation.
“I hope Jia-Li doesn’t mind you being here too much. Did you happen to know her, too?” you said.
“Not that well,” Ty Lee said, tapping her chin in thought. “But I think she was nice. I can’t seem to remember anything about her that particularly stood out, which could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it.”
“Hm,” you said. “She did seem to say that she was pretty mediocre all around, so it checks out.”
“Sounds about right! But forget about our disappointing roommates. Do you know what time it is?” she said, raising her pointer fingers.
“I still don’t understand why it’s that time, but yes, I do know what you’re about to do,” you said.
It was something like a ritual for you two, now. Every day, without fail, Ty Lee would jab you with her pointer fingers, always causing your knees to feel weak and your pulse to grow shallow for a moment. You always asked her what she was doing, but she refused to elaborate, promising that she’d tell you one day.
Not today. Not tomorrow. But one day.
To my dear Ursa,
You don’t have to follow such strict protocols and rules of etiquette when you write to me. I know that I am a prince, but in truth I rarely ever feel like one, so it is strange for me when you act as if I am royalty. You may pity me for saying it, but since I know you so well am your benefactor, I will disclose that the habits of my banishment have yet to fade. And in those days, I was never referred to by such titles, so please stop. It is especially strange to hear you calling me such things.
I am glad that you were given time to settle in. Mai told me she was not sure that the two of you would be afforded such grace, but we are both pleased to hear that you were. I hope that your lessons go well, and that your classmates are kind and helpful. I also hope that, if you cannot have Ty Lee as your roommate, you get someone who is friendly to you.
You needn’t fret about doing well in your classes. I am confident you will, and that you will uphold my good name if I even still have one. Worry only for yourself. Try to avoid trouble, if at all possible, but write to me if it finds you anyways. I will do what I can to help you. I will always do what I can to help you.
I gave Bian a treat, as you asked. She was happy. I give you leave to make requests of me freely. It is not a problem for me to oblige you.
Yours,  Zuko
P.S. I am sorry to hear that you still remember nothing. Please write to me if that changes.
P.P.S. Do not sign your letters off like that again. You are not my servant.

Jade would be VERY pleased about finally having another club member. I would be happy to listen to him info dump while we look at mushrooms and neat nature stuff.
Tumblr media
I let this sit in my ask box for too long but I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while and then harveston had to go and drop that one line validating my delusions and you've given me an excuse to post it ha
notes: they/them used for Yuu, violence against animals (a bear), swearing at animals (the same bear), Yuu is unnaturally strong (enough to fight a bear), Yuu is implied to have grown up in a forest/woodsy environment, Jade typical blackmail. Other more serious fic can be found on my masterlist here.
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, back when you first arrived in this world, you had been unsure how to feel about NRC. Castles existed back home, sure, but ones like this belonged firmly in illustrations or video games; it felt a but nauseating to walk through your wildest dreams brought to life, even if it was exciting sometimes. It was little wonder to you then that the idea of a Mountain Lover's Club was so appealing.
"Did you hike a lot back home?" Trey has that strange smile on his face that suggests you have made him tense somehow.
"Yes. I practically grew up in the woods." The flow of wind through the branches, the smell of fresh rain on the decomposing earth below, all of it wrapped you in a familiar sense of serenity even if the tree line was completely foreign to you. What are men to rocks and mountains after all? You could make yourself right at home here-
"I still don't think you should join." Trey says with all the air of a man who is certainly not telling you something, but the surprising harsh nod of agreement Riddle gives before injecting himself into the conversation convinces you more than whatever Trey had in mind likely could.
"I'm not entirely certain what they do," Riddle has never forbid you from participating in things since you and his dorm-mates brought him back to his senses," but if you want to hike it might be safer if you did it by yourself, assuming you let one of us know when you are going and when you expect to be back. It wouldn't do to have something that brings you so much joy used against you prefect, none of us want that." But he has always expressed concern when he thinks things to be unsafe, and in this case his argument was something you found yourself agreeing with. Hiking is best done at your own pace anyway, why get a club full of self-centered assholes involved in your me time? Though you did wish now they had been a bit more... specific with their concerns. Maybe outlined some of the club's scheduling, but then they would have needed to ask him and in so doing betrayed your interest.
Which would have been much less embarrassing than how Jade actually found out. Because of course he did, was there ever any doubt he would? ~~~~ There is a creek not far up the mountain path behind your dorm you like to rest at when coming back from your adventures. It's a good place to check over the photos on your camera and enjoy the last few rays of sunlight before returning to whatever mess Grim had made in Ramshackle searching for where you had moved all the tuna cans. Sometimes he joined you, and the two of you would have a little picnic up the path a bit further, but that day had not been one of those days. Nor had the day you met this particular nemesis who is staring you down from just across the creek with such a judgmental glance you would think this was a Sunday brunch and not an afternoon meander through the forest.
"The fuck do you want bitch?" You snarl and the bear indignantly sniffs as if to imply she's better than you. "Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize it was my fault your face is so fucking crooked, thought you were just born that way." She huffs again, making a big show of turning her back on you as you rush to get your equipment off and tucked safely out of reach before the skankiest grizzly you've ever met whips around and charges you shrieking something about "how dare you steal her man!!!!" and blah blah blah "I'll show you, you good for nothing hussy!!!!" as if you could actually understand her and this wasn't a three act play you insisted on writing yourself. You weren't even sure this bear was a girl if you stopped to think about it in between punches, not that you really cared. She huffs and makes a valiant attempt to pin you as you snarl and flash your teeth and beat her right back into the creek laughing at what sounds like pathetic winging about "kids these days!!!" and how rude you are for-
A startled noise pauses your match, as you both turn, harsh glares towards a break in the thicket where a very out of place, very surprised looking man stands, hand infuriatingly poised casually at his chin. His infuriating smirk doesn't unfurl until you growl, deep and low reverberating through your opponent just enough that she decides to leave for the day while you are preoccupied.
"Oya, this is a surprise." Jade doesn't move and you stay firm in the creek, body shaking with unspent adrenaline as he decides to move just a bit closer. "If you were that desperate for a sparring partner, I'm sure Floyd would have obliged, animal abuse is not exactly legal you know?"
"What the fuck are you doing here." You spit before you exit the creek, a flash of something darting through Jade's eyes as his gaze darts between you and your pack on the ground.
"Me? I should be asking that of you. The Mountain Lover's Club had to go through quite an ordeal to get permission to leave the school grounds unsupervised..." His teeth begin to show as you crash down from your high, you hadn't actually thought of whether or not you would need to talk to someone other than a friend about where you were going... surely Riddle would have mentioned something if you did? Or did he not think to ask since he wasn't the adventurous sort? "I can't imagine how the Headmage would react to know his ward had been sneaking out to terrorize the local wildlife."
"Hey Brenda started it!" You snap and Jade looks briefly towards the treeline where a very indignant bear is pursing her lips and inspecting her claws, the very picture of innocence if he does say so himself. "She stole my sandwich while I was taking pictures of the sunset!"
"Maybe you should have had someone there to hold it for you." He laughs, finally moving from his spot towards you and your pack, eyes gleaming with familiarity as he looks over your things. "Perhaps, someone who would be willing to... forget about what he just saw if they accompanied him next time?" It's a threat using what gives you joy against you certainly, and you huff indignantly at it but don't deny his request. Jade is an eel of his word, and his joy at doubling the Mountain Lover's Club membership cannot be contained as he ushers you the rest of the way down the mountain, eager to plan your first expedition together.
Not that he intends to ever delete the pictures he took. Your angry face is just too cute.

Notes: SUCH A CUTE PROMPT!!!!! ii hope this is what you like <3333 and as promised, the fic!!! i hope this is also confort enough after the tbb finale :((
Pairing: Hunter x f!reader
Summary: You, a nature lover on Raxus has to deal with the changes of the New Empire. But a new path has opened, a path to another nature lover. A person you wouldn't expect to love nature too.
Warnings/Tags: fluff, mentions of the Empire, nature, implied f!reader but i dont use many pronouns (i dont think 0.0), cute tension — tell me if I've missed anything!
Tumblr media
The suns rays gently pushed its way through the lush, orange and green mixed trees. It was always such a lovely view to admire and even better to even sit and relax under. The golden ropes shining against you as you feel the warm heat.
Raxus was responsible for the beautiful horizons and lands you grew up around, your mother and father always making sure there was time for the family to go out and acknowledge what the planet offered.
They shielded you from the war, considering they were on the side of the Separatists, they didn't want you in on politics, especially because your mother was a senator for Raxus. They wanted you to be happy and appreciate the better things in life.
That's how you fell in love with nature.
Everyday, just how your parents did it, you would go out, sit on the same tree log that you carved your names into—with cutely failed love hearts that almost looked like stars—and just sit. Sit and cherish the time you had with the singing birds and the sun that continued to shine.
It was post-Clone Wars now. The Galactic Empire rose to power.
Suddenly, the atmosphere around you changed drastically. As you grew older, you slowly learned about the horrible war that happened and now, a new position in power is pushing all of these absurd laws. Weren't you practically on their side?
Now, finding the time to be by yourself and away from everyone else became difficult. There was either a clone or a TK trooper around every corner you turned.
Luckily, there was a forest close to your home that the trees tower over, making it tough to land, large, Imperial shuttles on.
They attempted to cut them down but they were too thick and wasted time, according to the really angry commanding officers you overheard.
You now had a beautiful space to relax in. You were upset the log that had your parents names on it wasn't by the forest but the Empire would've arrested you and you wouldn't have been able to sit in environment solitude any longer.
The sun rays continued to shine through the trees, the rays longer and brighter because of the tall trees. There seems to be more animals around this area, you assumed they moved habitats because of how forceful the Empire was.
You were able to close your eyes, feeling safe and listen to the insects, the mammals do their animal things.
You had an idea to bring a little notebook with you and write songs with the tune of how the animals sang to each other during the day and how they chirped at night.
"Ah, the beauties of life," you grinned.
-
"We are coming up on Raxus," Tech's voice echoed down the Marauder, hoping Wrecker wasn't asleep. As the shuttle entered Raxus' atmosphere, the view of the orange and green arranged forests was even better aerial.
The city heart was in the distance, the buildings standing strong and silver. Despite the pretty exterior, the city was surrounded by Imperial troops from head to toe.
Tech landed the shuttle in a remote area, a forest with tall trees to stay undercover.
The sun was already beginning to set, Cid giving the Batcher's almost no information about the retrieval mission. It seems they had little time to break out whoever their client was.
"Wow, this place is beautiful," Omega was in awe as her eyes panned the high trees and the lush grass around them, her irises sparkling against the sun rays.
A small butterfly landed briefly on her head, causing her to chuckle before it flew off into the distance.
Hunter watched her, like a protective brother would do. He too was in awe with the plants around them.
He was particularly fond of nature, not even his brothers knew. Whenever they were free and Cid hadn't given them a job, he would sit against logs to watch the clouds surf the Ord Mantell mountains.
It was the only nature he could watch, the sandy atmosphere not bringing much but he still appreciated what he was given. Hunter always thought of visiting Raxus, having luscious ambience. He would've even considered putting aside his soldier life to live here.
Unfortunately, he had to visit the wonderful planet on the opposing side.
On the other hand, Echo and Wrecker were a little wary about this place. Crosshair was off to the side, chewing on his toothpick. He was wary too but a job was a job at the end of the day.
All they knew was their client is a Separatist and they're rescuing them.
"Hunter, four Imperial shuttles have just entered Raxus' atmosphere and are headed for the capital city. We might not be able to engage at all and complete the mission without getting caught." Tech was tapping away at his datapad, the small nods of his head suggesting they don't go forth with the mission right now.
Hunter sighed, "Do we have time early morning?"
They all looked at Tech, who was probably calculating the hours of possibility. With one last button touch, all he responded with was, 'yes.'
With a defeated sigh, everybody trekked back to the Marauder. Wrecker was desperate to sleep the evening away with Omega and Crosshair. Maker forbid when they sleep, Wrecker snores. Tech and Echo had their business about mechanical stuff up by the cockpit, maybe to double-check what needed to be repaired and added to the list.
However, Hunter wanted to do something else.
-
The night was breezy, the weather was nice, and you could hear the nocturnal animals emerge from their homes. The Imperial patrols usually regroup and do their daily meetings and reports so you had freedom to roam the forests without getting caught.
You carried your night lamp, your journal inside your pouch, and of course an electro staff for your own protection. Fortunately, you rarely had to use it.
As you walked down the sandy hill towards the high trees, you noticed there were more fireflies out so you cranked down the brightness on your lamp to embrace the natural light.
The trees always provided you comfort. They were like protectors. You kept walking along the sandy rubble, the path slowly fading into the green grass beneath your feet.
You waved to the curious rabbits that popped their heads through the fluffy bushes. You chuckled gently as the fireflies surrounded you curiously, almost tickling you as they made their way through the forest.
Hunter was sat on the ramp of the Marauder, his helmet off next to him. He was watching the white moon walk the night sky of Raxus, the gentle breeze brushing up against his long curls.
A curious tooka cat trotted towards Hunter, sniffing the ramp and his armoured boots. It purred, looking up at Hunters eyes. He smiled at the animal before it ran off, something else catching its attention.
Hunter stood up, walking down to the grassy plains beneath the ramp. He ran his fingers against the soft plants, inhaling the fresh air.
This felt nice, putting the soldier role aside and admiring what else life had to offer.
You were nearing your resting spot, grinning softly as you observed the birds feeding their childrens and singing lullabies. You jogged to your little spot, a small rocky cliff area to get a beautiful view of the rivers.
You closed your eyes, breathing in the air and listening to the gentle sound of the flowing water.
Startled, you yelped a bit as a butterfly landed on your nose, "Oh my, you scared me. I don't blame you, this a lovely place to play around," you chuckled, gently picking the insect and letting it fly away.
As Hunter walked back to the Marauders ramp to call it there, his senses picked up something in the distance. There was mumbling in the distance, he couldn't tell exactly what it was but it alerted him. He was swift to grab his blaster and his helmet to approach the noise.
Obviously approaching something you don't know isn't smart but Hunter was not about let something or someone jeopardise the beginning of the mission. As Hunter stealthily walked through the tall trees in the direction of the noise, he saw a silhouette.
He pushed away a bush to get a better look.
It wasn't a creature and definitely wasn't anything Imperial.
It was a person.
A very beautiful person.
Hunter lowered his blaster, his gaze softening under his helmet. You were giggling at the same tooka cat he saw earlier that was now brushing up against your knees. The tooka seemed to be extremely comfortable with you, almost jumping up onto your shoulders excitedly.
The cat meowed particularly loud and unfortunately, in Hunters direction. It caught him off guard. You were confused why the tooka suddenly ran away meowing like it was in distress.
That was when you saw Hunter.
Instinctively, you drew your electro staff, lighting it up. This man, who you've never seen before had managed to sneak up on you, wearing armour that was too similar to the clone troopers in the Empire.
You were just confused as to why it was all black and red.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" You called out to the trooper. Hunter tucked away his blaster, his hands coming up and out defensively.
"It's okay, I'm not here to hurt anyone." Hunter took one gentle step further, causing you to jolt the staff in his direction. He flinched.
"I don't enjoy repeating myself," you huffed, "Who are you and what are you doing here?"
Hunter slowly took off his helmet to show he wasn't a threat. He even took out his blaster and threw it aside.
Your eyes scanned him. He had a skull tatted on half his face, a red bandana with a skull imprinted on it. He had a prominent nose, dark brown eyes, and a strong jaw.
He also looked like a clone. Well, the face shape of one at least.
"Hunter, and I'm here by myself," that was a lie, "I'm just here to enjoy the forest."
You titled your head slightly. This... man, who had very similar features and outfit as a soldier, enjoying nature? That's a first.
You deactivated the electricity on your staff but you still kept it grasped in your hand, just in case.
You introduced yourself to him. His voice was low and soft, raspy but clear. There were visible wrinkles on his face and he tends to squint a lot when he spoke.
"Never met anyone on Raxus who enjoys the forest," you spoke. It was true, everyone was too focused on the economy, the war, the Empire, and trying to get off the planet. No one seemed to have time to sit down and admire nature.
"You learn something new," Hunter shrugged, "Do you mind if I sit?" you hesitated, your fingers clenching the hilt of your staff. You didn't know if he was undercover for the Empire or not.
Despite discarding his blaster, there was a vibro knife holster on his arm, very yellow and obvious.
"No tricks."
Hunter nodded, approaching your side to sit down. He was surprised at the view he was met with. A calm and clear river running down the slopes like it was skating against the rocks.
You sat down down, your staff clinking by your side as you let go of it. This Hunter person doesn't seem too bad so far, he was too focused on the water flowing. He was an attractive person, you'll give him that but you couldn't let that thought control how you were going to interact with him.
"How did you find this place?" you ran your fingers against a pebble before throwing it into the stream to be swept away.
He shrugged, "I like plant-y, environment stuff. I thought this place looked nice," the tips of your mouth lifted up into a small grin. You were already getting flustered over his voice and you met him five minutes ago. You coughed, shoving those thoughts to the back of your head.
The silence wasn't too uncomfortable. You tuned to the soft noises of nature, trying not to get immensely distracted by the man sat next to you also enjoying the soft noises of nature.
"Do you come here often?" Hunter asked. You watched all of those holofilms before, isn't this what they ask when they have no experience with conversation starters?
You chuckled, "I do, actually. Grew up around here."
Hunter gently nodded his head before facing the stream of water again, "So, you're pro-Empire."
"Hey, just because I grew up here doesn't mean I am," you playfully punched his shoulder, shaking off the slight pain from your knuckles because he was literally in full armour. Hunters hand came up defensively, apologising for his accusation.
"Then I'm surprised you haven't been caught by troops."
"Well, the trees really help with that. They're like my best friends," you stuck your hand out, drifting through the air.
Hunters eyes watched you carefully, he looked at you how you looked at nature. The way your eyes and cheeks lift up into a grin made Hunter smile himself. He had no experience with hanging out with someone other than his brothers. Especially mid-mission.
"I see."
Your hand came back down only to be met with Hunters gloved hand. Flustered, you quickly took your hand off. You mumbled an apology, situating your hand onto your lap. Hunter, who was also flustered, but more embarrassed swiftly changed the subject to save you both.
"So... how much do you know about plants?"
"I know enough to become a botanist," you picked off a small dandelion, blowing the seeds off and watching them float with the wind. They ended up crashing and covering Hunters face, some getting caught in his curls and his bandana. It wasn't very pretty for Hunter, but he looked like an angel covered in it.
Except for the sputtering that happened right after when some managed to get in his mouth.
"Very funny."
You gave him a hearty laugh, "It wasn't on purpose!"
"Whatever you say," Hunter patted himself clean. There was probably a long lost dandelion seed buried in his hair somewhere but he'll find it some how.
The two of you sat comfortably in each others' presence, chatting away about Raxus' trees, the dusty and dry dunes of Tatooine, and the bustling technologies of Coruscant.
You learned he was an ex-GAR soldier, that explained him lugging around in clone trooper armour. He also has an odd obsession with taking care of kids. He sounded like he's very experienced in that field.
The very same tooka cat came back to play around with the both of you. It managed to accidentally stick its fur in Hunters nose, causing you to rumble into a fit of laughter once again. It sent a smile to Hunters face but he was also slightly humiliated.
A couple of stars shot through the navy blue sky, the two of you making wishes that ranged from wanting an Empire-free life to hoping the other person wakes up as a worm.
You both talked, played, pushed, and comforted each other until the suns head poked from out the horizon; you both had fallen asleep next to each other by then.
The chirping and cawing of the birds woke you both up. You had to smack away a couple hungry fruit flies as you sat up. You blinked, stretching your muscles to wake yourself up.
Hunter yawned, "Good sleep?"
"Mhm," you mumbled, your croaky morning voice coming through.
"You seemed at ease when you slept." Hunter also stood up to stretch, unaware of how his words came out.
You chuckled when you saw him freeze in realisation, "That's how it is in the forests."
Hunter brushed off the loose grass that managed to pile up on him whilst he was sleeping. He reached over to grab his helmet, knowing he can't stay here much longer. He would've loved to if he wasn't getting paid to do a job.
"Leaving?" you sounded a little disappointed. You grew to like Hunter and him leaving sort of made you feel lonelier.
"Well, we have our own paths in nature, don't we?" he grinned. Before you could smile too, there was shouting deeper into the forest. Instinctively, you reached for your staff.
"Hunter!" it was another man's voice calling out for Hunter.
"Don't stress, I know those people," his hands came out again defensively. You lowered your staff.
"I suppose you're leaving now?" you rubbed your arm, upset that he would be gone just like that. Maybe he would come back?
Hunter took a couple steps forward, inches away from you. He gently took your hand in his, handing you a spare comm device. You looked into his deep brown eyes, trying not to blush, "My frequency, if you want to stay in touch?"
You nodded, coyly, grasping the comm device. Hunter stepped away, giving you one last message.
"Promise to comm sometime?"
"Of course, trooper."
"See you soon, butterfly."
Hunter's helmet hissed as he put it on before disappearing into the forest just like that.
Butterfly. You liked that nickname.

Gonna do my best here lmao. I’m tumblr illiterate nowadays but I’m always a thirsty ho who never gets cold ykyk.
Not sure I wanna give actual name (sorry),
Nickname: Moon
Age: 30
Pronouns: She/her
Sexuality: Bisexual
Likes: I’m a lazy bones, I have a disability so I spend a lot of time doing little crafty hobbies when I’m able to. I struggle with taking care of myself so I need a little extra help. I do love horror movies, reptiles, and my current hyper-fixations are BG3, undertale, and flip book animations. Sorry if that isn’t much to work with haha. I’m a big animal lover and have always had many.
Dislikes: Large crowds/overstimulating environments, early mornings, the current state of society lmao and people who lack patience with other peoples needs and struggles.
Romantic/‘intimate’ likes: I’m a sub through and through. I like to feel small and like for my partner to take the lead. I’m all about intense power play when it’s with a trusted partner. Some more I guess specific would be hypnosis, pet play, kidnapping (fantasy), CNC, sub training, objectification, humiliation, and like let me be clear that I love traditional house/trophy wife AS FANTASY. I don’t want to get it twisted that I can separate fantasy and reality and can practice things safely with a partner I trust. I like mean guys, gals and pals.
Physical description: Short and thick. I definitely have an ass and thick thighs. I would be comfortable describing myself as fat but still getting used to the term and how it’s being reclaimed. I have brown eyes and olive toned skin. Lots of black hair that’s a bit longer than shoulder length.
The only fandoms in the list I really know much about would be BG3 and Dead by Daylight. I love me some monsters so I’m down for that.
I hope I’m doing this right and not wasting your time with rambling haha. I love your work and regardless I appreciate your time! Absolutely no pressure!
🌑
A hoe NEVER gets cold. No worries, i’m still learning tumblr myself. I do like the inboxes, though. Honestly, it’s perfect for writers. Also do not apologize for not wanting to state your name! That’s why I included self-insert/oc if people wish for anonymity!
I am also disabled… so some of this hit close to home. :,)
Kazan Yamaoka would like you. It’d be more like a doll deal honestly. You wormed your way into his vengeful and hate-filled life. You showed him a semblance of kindness. Something he hadn’t felt in a long time. In turn, he gets to own you. Taking care of you financially and physically is nothing to him, honestly. It’s quite easy. Your needs are simple and helping you with tasks doesn’t take much from him. He’s strong and tall so he’s got that benefit.
He also takes very good care of you in bed. He’s more than happy to oblige to your kinks. It’s kind of a match made in heaven. He loves to feel big and strong. He’s got you splayed on the bed before him. His cock proud and daunting as it weeps. How in the hell are you supposed to take that? He growls at you in threat when you shrink away from him as he inches towards your face. His hand, so large it nearly wraps around your whole skull, grips your hair tightly. You part your lips in obedience as he begins to nudge them. His pre-cum coating your tongue as he slides each inch in one by one. You are already choking on half of it. His lips thin as he sneers at you. “I’ll turn you into my personal slut. I do like seeing you choke on my cock like a pathetic whore.” You moan around his length and he groans deeply. Fingers tightening their grip as he forcefully pushes a little more into your throat. Tears spring in the corner of your eyes as your airway is cut off. “Cry all you want, bitch. Fighting me is hopeless.” He glances down at you once more to confirm your desire. Then, he begins to fuck into your throat like the beast he is. Growling and ripping moans from you with each dirty and deprived phrase he utters. Your thighs rubbing together as your cunt clenches around nothing.

Ethical Alternatives to Dolls Kill
While Dolls Kill offers kawaii, punk, goth, and streetwear fashions, they’re an unethical fast fashion company that has been accused of stealing designs from small creators. They’ve also been accused of promoting rape and racism (implying that only white people can be goth, selling a Native American headdress as a costume, and supporting police during the Black Lives Matter movement) and having a lack of transparency in how they reduce their impact on people, animals, and the environment. With this in mind, here are some of my favorite alternatives I found (you can tap on the titles to access the sites)
LOUDBODIES
Tumblr media
This Romania-based retailer offers sizes from XXS-10XL, and you can even make a custom order for free if you'd like! Many of their pieces are pricey, but they do offer an affordable line of fashion. Their values include sustainable and recycled materials, made-to-order clothing, low waste production, OEKO-TEX certified fabrics, carbon neutral shipping, body-inclusive models (see above) and locally-made clothing. They also offer worldwide shipping.
NOCTEX
Tumblr media
NOCTEX is great for dark, goth, edgy fashion. They’re based in Canada and ship internationally. Available sizes only include XS-XL, but this retailer uses reclaimed and deadstock materials, and also have low-waste production. They offer many items including tops, dresses, pants, skirts, footwear, and accessories like bags, makeup, and jewelry, so there’s a lot to choose from!
Uye Surana
Tumblr media
For lingerie lovers, this is the place! While they’re based in New York, their clothing is ethically made in Columbia, with cute designs that come in sizes XS-5XL, so it’s quite inclusive! Items include bralettes, undies, stockings, camis, and garter belts, so go on and be adorably sexy, my loves.
KILLSTAR
Tumblr media
Despite being introduced by Dolls Kill, the UK brand Killstar is actually more ethical. In fact, they’ve cut their ties with the brand over the owner’s support of police during the BLM movement. They’ve donated to charities that promote ending racism (whereas Dolls Kill promoted racism to an extent) and they also promote individuality. They offer sizes XS-4XL (from what I’ve found) and they even have men’s clothing!
Broken Promises
Tumblr media
Another brand that left Dolls Kill, Broken Promises is based in California. Offering sizes XS-3XL, this brand offers clothing that caters to skate culture for all genders. Their clothes are also sold at Zumiez, so if you don’t want to shop online and you would prefer to go to the mall, you’ll probably find them there!
Disturbia
Tumblr media
And another UK gothic brand that was promoted by Dolls Kill, this family-owned business has been going strong since 2003. Their website claims that sustainability is “a core value in [their] ethos”, and their goal is to create fashion that doesn’t harm the environment. They’re committed to recycling and reducing their carbon footprint, and all of their leather is false or recycled to reduce animal cruelty. They have a fully traceable supply chain with manufacturers in the UK, China, Portugal, Turkey, and Morocco, all with safe production facilities. Rest assured, your money will be going to a great place.
Cyberdog
Tumblr media
Ravers, this one is for you. Catering to clubbers and DJs since 1994, Cyberdog offers neon and dark streetwear. They’re based in London, and their flagship store is located in Camden Market, so anyone who lives around the area (or would like to visit) can see these rad designs in person! (P.S: A huge downside is that they only offer sizes S-L, so this brand has the smallest size range on here)
Gothic Lamb
Tumblr media
“The home for melanated misfits”, as their designer calls it, is black-owned and offers sizes from S-5XL, making this brand one of the more inclusive ones on this list. The owner, who calls herself Lucy, founded Gothic Lamb in the summer of 2016. She was inspired by brands like Killstar and Disturbia, however, she found that there was a lack of representation at the time, as she felt that none of the models looked like her, so she decided to create her own. While there is a small collection, it’s still a great collection and it’s a great place to purchase from if you like supporting black-owned businesses.
publicspace
Tumblr media
A vaporwave-streetwear brand based in Los Angeles, CA, they support and collaborate with artists to create their designs (hence why they’re named publicspace). Though they have a small collection, their size range is XS-3XL, so it’s mostly inclusive.
Shop secondhand
You can also shop on Etsy to purchase from independent designers. A much cheaper option would be to shop secondhand. Sites like Poshmark and Depop are great for shopping secondhand, especially if you want to buy from fast fashion brands like H&M and Shein without giving them your money. Alternatively, you can go to your local thrift shop (do not shop at the Salvation Army, they are aggressively Christian, homophobic and transphobic) or consignment store. You can give your unwanted clothes and other items to these places (consignment stores will give you a certain percentage of their price for the item) to help people and need.
In conclusion, please do not buy from unethical fast fashion retailers and consider shopping ethically, whether it be for new or used clothes.

I find it so great and amazing that you helped those cats and kittens and honestly that's something I would like to do some day (if the circumstances are ideal) and I follow so many people that foster cats and dogs on instagram that I have an idea of what it's like so really many kudos to you for that!♡
I applaud you for considering fostering! I no longer work at the SPCA and am unable to foster as I’m currently in school - but fostering saves lives and I’m suuuccchhh an advocate!
I’m such a lover so everyone was like “oh, you’ll just keep them all!” And while I have kept a few #foster fails, I find that 90% of the time I’m really looking forward to getting them out of my house again 😅 like you get to live with them while they’re at their cutest and then give them back!!
You also provide future families more details about their new family members (are they shy? Are they mischievous? Do they get along with kids etc?), you keep them out of high volume shelters (keeps them safe AND means the shelter can help even MORE animals!), and the shelter isn’t always a great environment for animals (cats especially) to show off their true colours! A very shy and nervous cat in the shelter could be (and usually is) 1000000% different in a home environment!
Here’s some of my past fosters:

And yes you are seeing that right, the adult long haired calico is indeed missing her back feet’s haha

I have over 4000 pictures on my phone from my time working in the animal shelter 😭😭 hope this gives you your kitty fix for now 🫶💖

Warm my Soul- Naga!6Taro x Y/N Chapter-1
Hello everyone! I recently got inspired to write a Naga!6taro x Y/N fic and uhhh, spat out 5.8k fic (its a first chapter actually! I got way too inspired with it!)
CW!!- This fic contains sensitive topics like: the mishandling of animals (mostly reptiles), poor health, wounds needing medical care, anorexia, mentions of physical/sexual abuse of creatures that aren’t human (nothing is fully explained in detail) and a traumatized Y/N who saw something terrible (not explained and left for readers interpretation)
Please respect our reptile friends!
The Speedwagon Foundation was a beautiful, humane endeavor to breach cryptid and human life together. To provide care and a safe environment for their race to live and reproduce without hostile outside interference.
These 'hostiles' are also known as poachers and tamers. Poachers are those that kill and take till nothing is left. Harvesting off the creatures till many were extinct for bobbles and panaceas that genuinely did nothing. Tamers, though are a different breed of terrible altogether. They stole and sold live cryptids as pets or 'partners.'
All of it made you sick when they taught it in school when you were much younger. Imagining your life taken away from you, to be someone's forced pet thing or...lover. You wouldn't stand for it. At first, you tried to become an investigator for cryptids to try and save those in dire immediate need... but that ended in disaster on your first project as a trainee under a higher, more learned individual.
You'll never forget what you saw until the end of your days.
Four years of college went into the garbage in one night. Thankfully the Speedwagon Foundation found you. Namely Caesar Zeppeli, who saw your aptitude for love and care and offered you a starting position as a caregiver for cryptids in their healthcare facility. You had to restart college, but the job came with the perk of paying the previous debt and giving you a clean slate.
Caesar Zeppeli was sure one hell of a man of his word. He inherited the Speedwagon Foundation after the passing of Robert E. O. Speedwagon and was heavily involved in its continuation and improvement. That included ensuring his employees and staff were up to snuff and had the proper morals for the work needed.
It was five am, and you were clocking into work for the day. A triple shot espresso was practically fused to your lips as you lugged your book-laden backpack through the employee lounge. A second sealed coffee mug was hidden inside your book bag, designated for your friend, along with a small bag of Japanese goodies. Truthfully, being thirty-three and still in college was rough. Having to balance school life, homework, and a full-time job was killer. Normally you'd never bring school work to actual work, but it was Thursday, which meant a chance to kill two birds with one stone.
Every Thursday was your turn to handle the half snake-man Jotaro.
Formally called a Naga, he was one of the oldest residents in the SPW Cryptid home, similar to a rehabilitation center for endangered Cryptids. Having been put in since he was twelve after being rescued from a group of tamers, the forty-year-old snake-man was the toughest one to care for in the entire facility. Aloof and distant, while significantly less violent than he was during his youth, Jotaro still kept his distance and was quite hostile to anyone he did not like.
Somehow, you had managed to warm him up to you. You honestly didn't know how, given that the first time you met him was an absolute disaster. It felt like almost yesterday and not a whole year and a half ago. You had forgotten to wash your uniform the previous night after it was trashed by a fae that had gotten annoyed with you refusing to give your name to it the previous day. Meaning all you had to work in was some clean sweatpants and an oversized T-Shirt from your ex-boyfriend.
But that didn't stop there. This was not to mention the fact that you had overslept and were bolting into work at the last minute like a ghoul in a graveyard. You had snuck in a few college books into work with you that day as several classes were to happen directly after you got off, and you were hoping to study on break or in between residents.
When you were greeted by Angela, the woman you were trainee under, you couldn't help but feel your mouth sour. She was dressed to the nines, all cleavage, and painted makeup like a model on a runway. Angela lifted an immaculate eyebrow at you. "You sure you wanna wear that, Y/N?" she asked in a confused and somewhat demeaning manner.
"Sorry, it's all I got today," you confessed, though irritated as she was not wearing the regulated uniform either. What is this? Why are you dressed like-
"Whatever, your funeral, kid. We're taking care of Jotaro today," She said with a heavy hint of, 'sorry, not sorry,' before tossing a binder at you that was thick like the bible. "Read up. We'll be going into his enclosure in fifteen. We're to encourage him to eat his breakfast. Though, uh, best to stay out of sight looking like that. He might lose his appetite." Wrinkling your nose at the word enclosure, which was considered a 'no-no' in the Cryptid world, you finally understood what was going on. Jotaro was the neighborhood hot Naga. Every female employee and some males gushed over him like a fangirl, talking about things that should have been well left alone. It was as if no one had self-control or somewhat decency that this was a living being with sentience and more to him than sex appeal, but most importantly, a person under their care for health reasons.
You hadn't met him yet, but you pitied the Naga. Miranda, another coworker with more experience and a better sane approach to the snake-man, had told you Jotaro has been a tough case. She wasn't allowed to go into detail due to HIPAA and you not being on his care team yet, but she had warned you to treat him with the utmost consideration and respect. "He really deserves our patience and delicate approach. The man just needs some peace and quiet too." Miranda mused quietly before leaving you to your thoughts.
As much as it irritated you, you weren't here to police rules and force people to act a certain way. You tried that before, and look how well that went. So you had kept yourself quiet during everyone's feral ramblings during your first few months.
But today seemed to be running you for your money's worth. Huffing angrily, you began to flip through the bible of patient history, reading up on Jotaro's basic needs and requirements as you tried to figure out a way to alert someone higher up about Angela's... Apparel. But you were stopped in your train of thought as you bit your lip at all the red markings on the front page, each indicating healthcare issues needing immediate addressing.
Weight was a big one, as it looked like he had a history of not wanting to eat due to-
Ah, you stopped reading immediately and flipped the page, refusing to read his past as images of 'that incident' during your investigator years came to mind. The following pages were more reds, several on social interactions, showing that Jotaro had a high intelligence but poor social skill and an unwillingness to communicate or talk with anyone. Hygiene was another thing, not that he was filthy, but he was so large that he had difficulty washing all of himself in one go. Due to Naga's naturally cold-bloodedness, given that they are like snakes, they are inclined to be lethargic when not warmed up. A statement in the report said he refused to rest in the designated warming rocks or soak in the hot spring, meaning that Jotaro easily over-exerted himself due to his sheer size. Even though he is marked down as being half the weight he should be at.
There were several marked areas for sores from poor self-care needing tending, but that was to be done by a fully registered Cryptid nurse and not a caregiver. There was a big note saying to offer an aided shower and lotion whenever someone had the chance, even if the refusal marks neared the hundreds from the past month.
Another page skipped on the explanation of why.
You were halfway through the bible, skimming as fast as you could when Angela came back in. "Time's up. Let's go." she didn't even bother waiting for you, immediately leaving. Cursing yourself for losing track of time while reading and missing the opportunity to alert someone, you hurried to catch up. Pulling the bible to your chest, you raced after her, easily finding her by the click of her heels which made your eye twitch in aggravation. She sprayed a foul-smelling perfume and applied three layers of bright red lipstick as you trodded behind her.
Jotaro's home was a massive circular room within the facility, a mile long (1.6 kilometers) and 1.5 miles wide (2.4 kilometers), all made to replicate his natural habitat, the Amazon forest. One might wonder why the Speedwagon Foundation would put so much effort into maintaining one Cryptid, but given that Naga's were some of the most endangered species, you didn't find it problematic that the room was to be an exact imitation of a tropical rainforest. What was an issue was that this Angela would walk in with nine-inch heels into a fucking man-made nature preserve and try to woe an ill half-snake-man. You wanted to throttle the bitch so bad, but you needed this job, and violence was not in your nature.
You prayed someone would notice the both of you in the hallways, but it was as if she timed it just right to miss everyone. So you did the next best thing and wished karma on her. Something that was easily within the margins of acceptable action for you.
Part of you wondered how Caesar let someone like this in, but you realized he was only one man and couldn't prevent all the bad, no matter how hard he tried. Grunting to yourself as your sneakers squeaked on the white tiled floor, you came to a stop near a double wood door marked, 'Jotaro Kujo.' A green tab had been pulled from the nameplate with the picture of a turkey on a plate, meaning that the chefs had already served Jotaro's food.
You hoped that someone was watching the cameras in his home, that someone would alert someone higher about what was to transpire. Every hallway and Cryptid room was filled with cameras, so if a caretaker got injured or something happened to upset the resident, someone could come and help before injury happened to either.
Angela didn't hesitate or prep talks you through what was to happen, causing your eye to twitch again in anger as she pushed a button next to it, and the door pulled open. The thing was actually metal and not wood, being much thicker than you anticipated as it split open and pulled to either side. Immediately, you felt the humid heat of the imitation tropical rainforest hit you, along with the sound of exotic birds singing and soft rain pattering. Eyebrows shooting up, you barely had time to register that the forest had actual animals and weather simulation in it before noticing that Angela had left you.
Shoving the patient records into your backpack for protection, you rushed after her, carefully maneuvering across the roots and overgrowth. Ferns and vines brushed against you as you tried to respect the man-made wonder. Thankfully it wasn't raining too much, the fake overhead sky a dull grey of rolling clouds and peeking sunshine. It seemed to be more misting than anything. The accumulated water dripped off the massive trees and down into the forest floor. Perhaps a way to try and aid recovery for Jotaro as the bible-patient file had stated his scales were dry and brittle and needed moisture badly. You stopped several times to stare in wonder at the colorful orchids that decorated several of the trees. You never imagined that the little orchid at your home in its pot from the store actually came from tropical rainforests, but here they were in their natural glory. It felt like an episode of 'how its made.' Just more nature in a semi-natural habitat than a twinkie being made.
You subtly notice several cameras along the way but note that no call was sounded, which concerned you. Did Angela leave her work phone in the employee lounge? With a shudder, you clench your hands into fists and turn to your trainer.
Angela paid no heed to you, leaving you behind as she was set on her prize. Your worn sneakers, thankfully, had enough traction to keep you from slipping. That could not be said for her, as Angela was getting her stilettos stuck in the soft, wet dirt and nearly eating shit every two steps.
Part of you wanted to openly laugh, but mostly you wished she would see how utterly ridiculous she looked. This was someone who was sick and needed help, and yet here was a forty-year-old woman about to flaunt herself at him like a hot dog in lingerie. Right as your anger got the best of you and you went to tell her off, you came to a standstill, mouth agape. Angela had pulled back a large fern to reveal a massive clearing with a large pile of flat rocks stacked on one another. Below the heap was a gargantuan burrow hole big enough to fit a truck through.
It went down deep into the earth with a subtle steam rising from it as the heat from below mixed with the mist and made a stickier vapor. Lights dimly glowed along the pathway downward, highlighting the red brick walls and cream-colored tiled floor. This meant that the burrow wasn't just a mud hole in the ground, but a structure meant to replicate both human living and meet the needs of a half-snake man. Part of you was slightly relieved that you wouldn't be crawling into some dark, dank pit with a Naga that was about to become more agitated than a chihuahua in a plastic bag.
Angela went down, shaking her feet in an attempt to get the mud off while you tapped yours against the outside entrance and scrapped the bottoms off on a welcome mat, a sneer on your face at the mess she was leaving. The tunnel went down quite a ways, probably three meters, in a soft circular incline. Warmth and mist emanated from every crevice. It made your shirt slick against your back where your backpack rested. Lights once dim flickered to life and brightened when you neared the end, which was a massive green round door.
You almost snorted. It looked like a hobbit entrance for Bilbo or Frodo Baggins. Angela didn't even knock as she opened the door and cheerfully called out, "Jotaro! I'm here for breakfast!" There was no immediate response, but your ears pricked at the sound of something being set down harshly. Your stomach churned harshly as a deep voice muttered angrily from inside, much more baritone than any other voice you'd ever heard, including your father, and he was a wall of a man!
Moving forward, you grabbed Angela by the arm, "Angela..." You went to tell her not to do this, but she had a sickening smile on her face, too sweet and creepy.
"Do not ruin this for me. I worked too hard for it," Angela said as she pushed your hand off her and slipped past the door like an eel. You almost lost your breakfast at the anxiety. Looking around desperately, you spotted a camera and began to wave frantically at it, hoping someone was paying attention.
Sadly, the camera did not move side to side to indicate being noticed and that help was on the way per the instructions during orientation. You heard a low growl from inside, and you practically bolted in to separate them despite whatever was happening.
Only when you got two feet past the door, you came to a screeching halt as you saw the Naga for yourself. You'd never seen one before, and by God, you were probably looking at the biggest one known to society. You never imagined they could get this big, and reading that Jotaro was severely malnourished made your legs tremble. Jotaro was curled up on a pile of multicolored pillows on a raised platform that made you silently wish they sold to the public, being that they were gargantuan and stuffed enough to support his massive but frail body. His human half was propped up by his arms on his snake half. Being that of a large male in his late thirties, bulky and broad-chested, though sadly, he looked as if where rippling muscle should have been was thin and almost frail looking.
Almost.
Everything about his human half seemed hardened and sharp lines. Jotaro had messy raven locks that ran down his face and squared jaw, obscuring his dull aquamarine eyes that had narrowed in anger and disgust. His thick lips pulled back as a low hiss escaped him, his tongue not even flickering out. His pupils were slits, honed, and focused on Angela like an angry animal ready to strike. Jotaro wore a ragged old white trench coat almost the same shade as his human skin that went down to his low snake half, a black turtle neck with a golden pin with a hand symbol, and a white hat that mystically merged into his hair that also bore the same insignia. All wore clear signs of wear and tear, as the white was dull and faded, with the edges frayed and tattered.
The Naga half of him was enormous. At least nine meters long, the dull yellow scales with patches of darker shapes similar to Boa Constrictors. It started from where his hips were, like some Rapunzel fantasy but snake half instead of hair. Corded, the wall of muscle half a meter tall and half a meter wide, though, from your knowledge of snakes, severely underweight. While the spine was visible, Jotaro's snake half was more triangular than rounded, pronouncing his spine and ribs to the point they almost seemed to threaten to pierce the skin in several areas. You took keen notice of the dry and cracked scales along his body, and the wounds wrapped tightly in bandages that seeped medicine. Each scale is the size of your fist. Several spots showed the inflamed skin underneath. Jotaro was breathing heavily, clearly agitated as his tail and lower half continued to move and shift, even though he seemed so exhausted and tired.
"How are you doing, Jotaro?" Angela asked, not paying heed to his display of aggression as she stepped closer. To your surprise, he didn't say anything, merely watched in fury and loathing. Jotaro pulled back from her as she grabbed another plate of food from the dining tray, filled with cooked meats cut into small pieces and coated in something that smelled quite foul. Most likely a weight powder or some sort of vitamin, maybe both. Angela plopped down right next to him, leaning against his snake half and propping her breasts up for full display.
It was official. Your jaw hit the floor. Standing there in horror, you realized you had to do something. Looking around wildly, you tried to find the call light, something to get someone's attention, even if it meant you had to race back to the office and drag a guard's sorry ass to this. Trying not to be obvious, you began to inch around the outskirts of the room as Jotaro glared so openly at her that you were surprised she hadn't spontaneously combusted. The room was circular in nature but devoid of most life of an average person, replaced with medical machinery and tables upon tables of medical supplies.
Scooting further, you spotted a group of cords and one that held a small knob to its end. Trying not to bolt for it, you carefully reached out as discreetly as possible as Angela tried to hand-feed Jotaro a slice of meat from her plate, making cooing noises as she tried to get him to eat. You almost gagged alongside Jotaro, who seemed to have lost even more color from his pale frame. Your hand finally touched the call light, fingers snatching the thing in a death grip as you pressed the button like you were trying to win a mash-it rhythm game.
A little red light turned on behind them, which made you blanch and hope they didn't notice.
"So, how are you doing, handsome?" Angela asked, pushing the slice of meat closer to his lips, the justices seeping down her fingers. "You seem tense today." Jotaro sneered and tried to shift away from her but couldn't due to his weakened state, his lower half keeping him pinned there due to its massive size. You clicked the call light twice more, praying for an intervention of some sort. An angelic invasion, hell, you'd take a demon bursting from the ground to save you from the agony of watching this unfold. You wish your legs weren't shaking so badly that you felt like nearly buckling under your weight.
If only you were braver. Maybe you could intervene and do something more. But the images of that scene kept playing in your mind, making your brain act on flight or fight reflexes and all it wanted to do was leave. Jotaro let out a low hiss as Angela cupped his face. Fist clenched, Jotaro tried to shove her but only managed to slightly push her away. Sweat began to roll down your back and face as Jotaro raised his hackles as Angela grabbed his face again and started to move in for a kiss. You trembled uncontrollably, desperately trying to will yourself forward, when the front door suddenly slammed open.
Five people were there, two you recognized immediately. There was Doctor Kyoshi, the security monitor Phil, and three unknown male Cryptid guards. You feared they were misinterpreting the situation for a moment, given that the guards were dressed entirely in black Cryptid riot gear with long silver taser polearms, but their attention was not on Jotaro. Doctor Kyoshi was a massive woman with long brown hair tied into a tightly knitted bun. She wore thick makeup that made her look fierce, and her Doctor's uniform was thick and laden with protective scales and medical tools. She looked ready for war, especially with her hate-filled gaze as she slid a scalpel into her front pocket. "Angela River Brown, just what in God's name are you doing?" Kyoshi growled so low that you jumped and dropped the call light.
Angela looked utterly shocked, eyes wide like a fox trapped in a bear trap. When they slowly turned to the noise of the call light hitting the floor, Angela's jaw fell open as she spotted it and jerked her head to stare at you with utter horror and fury. "Y-YOU!"
Fear prickled all over you as adrenaline hit like a truck. The flight reaction was so strong that when she launched the plate from her lap at you with a howl, you dove behind Kyoshi, who slapped it away like a gnat as the guards charged in and grabbed Angela like a writhing fish. One kept his weapon pointed to Jotaro, ready to defend in case the Naga attacked, but it was held tentatively, hands loose on the metal. Angela cried out in pain as they dragged her across the floor, uncaring of the mess they made along the way.
The guards took her kicking and screaming, not stopping as they moved through the door, into the tunnel, and onward. Kyoshi huffed angrily, which caused Phil, a short, thin twig of a man with sandy hair, to jump, sweat rolling down his face as he saluted the Doctor as she stomped past him. "Mr.Kujo, " she rumbled, low but delicate in placing the words. Jotaro turned to her with a tired gaze and waited for her questions. "Did she-"
"No, nothing more than trying to kiss me." He said, slowly deflating as his own adrenaline left his body.
"Mmm, how long has this been going on for?" Kyoshi asked, folding her arms when Jotaro refused to answer. Sighing, she turned to Phil and said, "Go alert Pam to send a psychiatrist in. We got to start the paperwork. What time is it?" she rumbled, sounding very irritated and tired all at once.
"Eight-forty-five in the morning, Ma'am." Phil stammered, looking at his watch like it would save him from being drilled further.
"Too early for this bullshit-" Kyoshi snarled, snatching the call light and walking it over to Jotaro. He refused to take it, but she set it within reach and turned away. Marching like a soldier going to war, she snapped her fingers at both you and Phil.
You knew immediately the 'we' she meant was all three of you reporting your 'findings.' Which meant recounting why the hot dog in lingerie had made it this far without someone saying something. You gulped loudly and stumbled after her, glancing back to notice that Jotaro had collapsed onto himself but was watching you with a stony look. "Y/N!" Kyoshi called, causing you to leap after her impatient form.
The walk back to Kyoshi's office was like being walked to your death sentence. The threat of being fired was written on the walls, especially with how Phil was wringing his hands and scrunched up like an armadillo, ready to hide in its shell.
Kyoshi opened the door, beckoning both of you into the small room before slamming the door shut and letting out the loudest bull snort you'd ever heard in your life. Inside looked like a typical doctor's office. A massive desk in the center with a laptop and endless paperwork piled around every surface like tissue paper. The walls were lined with thousands of awards and degrees of excellence from her forty years of experience. "Phil!" She snapped, causing the little man to prostrate himself on the ground. "Oh, for the love of God, get up!" Phil shakily got up, quaking so bad that she had to pull a chair up for him to sit down.
"Ple-please don't fire me!" he sobbed, "I-I need this job-!"
Kyoshi stared like a banshee for a moment before narrowing her eyes, "You honestly think I'm here to get both of you fired?" she asked incrediously.
Phil looked to you, who was no better than him, your knees knocking against each other like two trees dancing in a windstorm. Kyoshi had the worst reputation in the entire building. A true brute, unwavering and uncompromising. She did the job to a T but wouldn't take anyone's bullshit or idle chatter. Kyoshi was aloof and brutal to her coworkers and patients. Both of you gazed briefly, interchanging a silent conversation before turning back and nodding solemnly. Both of you would not be the first she took out like a thorn in her side.
"Oh, for heaven's sake! NO! Did either of you dress like a hooker and try to seduce an ill patient that can't fight back?" Both of you shook your heads vigorously, and a quick 'no, Ma'am' chanted. "I am not going to let either of you lose your jobs over Angela's decision. Could you have stopped it sooner? Sure. But you're not paid to physically attack someone trying to seduce a Cryptid. The fact that you reported as soon as you could," she looked directly at you, "And conveyed your findings to the proper chain of command is the correct answer. Your jobs will not be threatened. I will see to that."
A massive sigh of relief came from both of you, Phil practically falling out of his chair as you slid down to sit on the floor. Kyoshi snorted again and walked around both of you, grabbing two cups and filling them with water from her personal water pitcher. Handing them out, she stood there like an omen, "Drink," she commanded. Obeying, you had never tasted such crisp cold water before in your life, nor how relieving it was to ingest it. "I want you both to write a report on what happened, what you saw, the time, and what you did. Only facts, no personal thoughts of ifs, ands, or buts. Just facts. Am I understood?" you both nodded and took the pen and paper she handed both of you. "Good, take your time. I need to start my own report and make a few phone calls. God, Caesar isn't going to be happy about this."
"Caesar is going to know about this?" you asked in disbelief.
Kyoshi nodded, "Old family friend of Jotaro's family. It would be unwise to not let him know some of the employees he hired to care for his best friend's grandson just tried to force themselves on him in his weakened state. Especially coming from someone who had a clean record and no prior instances.... tch." Kyoshi sat at her desk with a 'thump' and opened her laptop with a flourish. "Best to keep your heads down after this. There will be a hefty investigation into this, no doubt, and we will be monitored for further instances... God damn it all, I thought we were finally getting somewhere with him..." she sighed in pain, brown eyes suddenly looking distant for a moment before focusing again, and she began to type at incredible speeds.
You and Phil eyed each other before hunkering down and writing your life out through the pens provided, giving excruciating detail to what transpired. Phil finished his within an hour before giving it to Kyoshi, who nodded and informed him to report to the front desk and take the day off, and if anyone questioned it, it was per her instruction.
You continued to write away, but when your mind was in a million places at once, thinking about Jotaro and what he must be feeling. How awful he must be feeling, how distrustful of the world he would be after this. Just like-
A hand was on your shoulder, gently shaking you. "Y/N," Kyoshi called, towering over your form. "Breathe, child, breathe," she murmured, kneeling down to hand you a clump of tissues. "It's okay to cry."
"God-No, it's not. It's just, I had-" you tried to explain, only to be gently shushed by her.
"You don't need to explain to me. I read your records. I was the person who recommended Ceasar hire you." She tutted for a moment as you stared in shock. "Don't give me that look. I ain't all fire and brimstone. What you saw with that Garuda was the worst humanity has to offer. I highly doubt anyone in your position would have stayed around, let alone still take a job taking care of Cryptids." She took your glass and stood, walking over to refill it. "You did the best you could. No one can blame you for that. Yes, if you had gotten there sooner, it might have been better, but we can't look at things like that. You made it in time today. That's what matters. You spared Jotaro any more indignity than he's already suffered. For that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
You felt your jaw work as you tried to say something but only cried more as she placed another wad of tissues in one hand and the glass in the other. It took you several minutes to compose yourself, Kyoshi patiently waiting next to you before she encouraged you to quell the waterworks. "Enough tears for now. Let us finish this so we might begin our work of repairing the trust that was broken today."
Nodding, you wiped your eyes furiously and picked up your pen. It took another half an hour before you were done, hand aching and several pages filled to the brim. Kyoshi nodded as you handed it over, inspecting it while you waited. When she was done, you finally piped up, asking a question that was on your mind. "Why did you bring fully armored guards when you know Jotaro wasn't the threat?"
Kyoshi huffed in annoyance, but you realized it wasn't directed at you. "Politics," she stated darkly, "It was to prevent a lawsuit if someone tried to sue for assault. Easier to say they were dragging her from an aggressive Cryptid than say they were saving a Cryptid from a tiny human female. Even if she was dressed like that, lawyers find their way to spin everything, and just because it's evident to us what happened, most people don't give a damn about Cryptids. As disgusting as it is, I did what I could to protect Jotaro from further harm, physical and mental. The last thing he needs is to be dragged to court to explain that a fully-fledged nurse was trying to have sex with him." She sneered when you made a face, "Don't give me that look. You and I know damn well that's what she was after in the end. Perverted bitch." Kyoshi spat on the ground before glumly realizing she had to clean that up. "Hand over his file and head home for the day. If anyone asks where you're at, I'll deal with them."
Grunting in agreement, you pulled the bible from your backpack and handed it off as your body was ready for sleep and a period of not thinking. As you moved to leave, you stopped when Kyoshi called your name again, "Good job today, kid. Keep your head up. Things will get better."
You sighed and nodded solemnly before closing the door. The walk home was quiet, thankfully. No one knew what transpired today, going about their own business with urgency or latent laziness. It hurt knowing people didn't care like you, but that was life. Sometimes the few had to carry the many. Once home to your small apartment, you tossed everything on the ground and plopped onto the couch. Sprawling like a starfish, you stared up at the ceiling in dismay. "Will it always be like this?" you wondered aloud.
"Always like what?" came a voice.
Jolting in place, you realized you had lost yourself in a long memory of years past while your body autopiloted you to Jotaro's room. Kyoshi was in front of you, eyebrow raised. Stuttering for a moment, you sputtered, "So sorry, Ma'am. I was lost in thought about back when I first met Jotaro."
The other eyebrow joined its brother, and she tilted her head. "Is that all? Come now, there's no point in thinking of that. Keep your head in today. You know how much he hates waiting for you before eating breakfast." Nodding, you followed behind her into the now familiar and welcoming humid warmth of the man-made rainforest.

hey would you like some bionicle aus haha get in
A) g3 concept
this motherfucker. is a Big One. MANY thoughts on it, still trying to iron out some of it. heavily based on g1 but with g2 elements that are nice/interesting to me specifically Such As the mask making via elements deal, ekimu, and the okoto setting. i am Cramming As Much Mostly Relevant G1 Things In This As Possible. includes all main toa teams so mata, metru and inika as well as the chronicler's company, Lhikan lesbian ver, several of the Makuta, the Barraki (who are actual animals and also a polycule because why not) and a MNOG-like Makuta who honestly loves and cares for his brother the Great Spirit and thinks putting him in a coma will help. also pewku and jaller's crab. theres even a voriki implication. i have a big post in the drafts for this and perhaps one day it will appear
2009-10 elements will not manage to be included nor will 2016-17 elements. the former because i cannot fit those lads in here tho perhaps bara magna life & survival will make it through, the latter because i havent seen journey to one and frankly i dont know if theres anything of value to take from it. please do yell at me at length in case you disagree. i am very serious abt that i want to learn more, its just that i cant be arsed to get netflix for anything
B) human g2015 au
classic modern times human au but with 2015 characterization bc i like the web episodes. the thoughts i have about this are nebulous at best but good lord if it aint good fun to think about
THE GOOD NEWS IS that while the main characters will be limited to the toa mata nuva, i can mention as many characters in this as i want. possibly all of them. they are just new zelanders now, they live there. they have jobs and stuff. im going to include the fucking moburzhak. i can even put the g1 mata in there as bizzarely omonimous different characters. i am a god
THE ALSO GOOD NEWS IS i can overthink characterizations you wouldnt even dream of so i can take these cardboard cutouts that are the toa and try to engineer something compelling out of them somehow through the power of incredible neurodivergency and this morbid interest in group dynamics i just found
the bad news is i have little to no plot yet. few story beats that i have are discovery of the powers ala superheroes, lewa getting possessed, pohatu having a panic attack, subsequent slow kohatu development from strangers to friends to lovers because im Fucking Weak For Them, onua leaving lewa underground briefly because hes fucking tired of his attitude, slow lewa/tahu/gali development from clashing to friends to what i can only describe as the human equivalent of a cat colony, stupid winter episode, and undecover mission in drag at a fancy place. most of my fully formed thoughts are for this last one but i still have no idea how this happens or why they have to do it, i just know that the boys make for a bunch of pretty ladies. i am just spitting ideas
also had more specific ideas regarding the main toa such as them being half maori and half another ethnicity (australian aboriginal/hawaiian/jewish/latin american/african just to give a few ideas), onua being aromantic and lewa being goth
C) Foster Parent au
also known as What Watching A Whole Ass Blind-Run Of Bloodborne While Having A Soft Spot For Toa-Turaga Familial Relationships Does To A Motherfucker AU, or also alternatively Superpowers? Divinity? WRONG! COSMIC HORROR AU
only features the Toa Mata, Toa Metru Hordika, Artakha, Karzhani and Velika. the Toa Mata are six parentless siblings separated at birth, bounced around the system until each ended up assigned one of the Toa Metru as their foster parent. weird elemental shit starts happening more prominently now that theyre in a safe and loving environment, and a mysterious man named Artakha who seems to have history with the Metru begins showing up insistently and intimidatingly demanding custody of the kids as their father.
its about the PARENT-CHILD CONNECTIONS and the SIBLINGHOOD and the HORRORS and the FOUND FAMILY and the PARENTAL LOVE and the HORRORS AGAIN
i DO want to talk about it but also i do NOT want to talk about it but also i will never write it so PLEASE ask me about it i am Begging You

Fluffy 📔 for Hangman:
Convincing him to get a cat even though he’s a dog person
(Happy celebration! Congrats on the milestone :) )
Thank you for sending this in nonnie! Answering this was so much fun :D
Convincing Hangman to get a cat even though he's a dog person:
Jake grew up in Texas, on a ranch yeah? So he grew up with all kinds of animals.
There were the horses in his parent's stables, one or more of them his own,
then there were at least two dogs, one in the stable and one family dog
his sisters at some point wanted a hamster and that’s what they got as their first own pet
maybe there were even some geckos or local reptiles he caught and put in a terrarium
and with ranches around there, of course, was also lots of cattle, but also some donkeys and what else. Maybe even the rare llama/alpaca
he got along with all of them. He likes animals and he has a good handle on them
then there are cats
His mum had one and there also were a couple mingling around the stable, to hide in the hay or to catch the mice that were prone to be drawn to the buildings (especially the chamber in which they stored the animal food)
they never liked him, and it’s not for lack of trying. Cat’s just didn’t like him
He distinctively remembers one accident when he was very little, bordering between toddler and small child
he tried to pet the cat but when he got close the cat hissed at him, and before he knew she had extended her claws and swiped across his face. It’s safe to say baby jake did not appreciate getting a bloody scratch across his cheek and down his chin,
he even claims you can still see a faint scar from said accident
ever since then he and the cats had been on the warpath
Jake’s darling girl is as much of an animal lover as he is. It’s actually one of the first things they bonded over and the thing that convinced her to give the cocky pilot a chance. If animals like him he can’t be that bad right?
shortly after they moved together, she is complaining about feeling lonely. Jake’s work has him away a lot of the time and she gets sad being completely alone in the apartment
the problem is: Their landlord doesn’t allow dogs. Besides, it’s an apartment complex and they live a couple of stories high. It’s not the ideal environment to hold a dog
But a cat, a house cat, would be perfect. Except Jake is totally not on board. He is putting his foot down and refusing vehemently. Not even her pouting and whining can convince him otherwise
that’s what he tells himself. The truth is, slowly she is wearing him down, showing him pictures and videos of cute cats, she even makes him laugh once with a funny video. He of course denies this
But then it’s the weekend and they are planning to go do something and when they are sitting in their car, driving around his girl asks him if they can make a quick stop at a friend of hers. He agrees
Two steps into her friend's place and there is a loud meow coming from the end of the hall. Jake freezes, meeting eyes with the cat that’s now standing there, looking at him and lazily flicking its tail.
The cat meows again and then it’s charging toward him. He is ready to grab anything in reach to defend himself from the vicious predator, but the attack never happens. Instead the cat circles around him and when she rubs against his legs she even starts purring
His girl is looking at him apologetically, telling him her friend's cat just had babies and she was dying to see them. He feels a little pang of sadness realizing she didn’t tell because she thought he’d deny her to see them
Hesitantly he follows the women to another room, he can already hear the tiny meows from inside, and then there they are. Multiple little fluff-balls, stumbling and tumbling over each other, one cuter than the one before.
One of the little ones gets put into his arms before he can react or refuse and once again he freezes. But here too he realizes the cat won’t hurt him. Instead, that little cotton ball is meowing quietly at him, snuggling against his fingers and being so so tiny
He fell in love faster than he was ready for. His girl is a little concerned about how quiet he got. “Jake?”, she asks him carefully and then he looks up at her with round eyes, glassy, and mumbles “It’s so cute.”
“I want one.”
Safe to say once the little ones are old enough to be rehomed these two take the one home that Jake held in his hand (he refused to put the little one down the entire time they were visiting)
My askbox is still open, feel free to send in more headcanons or even one word/one sentence prompts for small drabbles/ficlets!

FREE TIME EVENT 2
Y/N was starting to get the hang of the whole “Island Life” thing. Surprisingly, getting to know her fellow classmates wasn’t the chore she thought it would be. Maybe here, she wasn’t such an outcast, because maybe, the entire class were a gaggle of outcasts. If one stops to think about it, a bunch of teens who were outstandingly exceptional in their field of choice must have faced hardships, like over-working, stress, bullying from envious peers growing up who wanted what they had, or simply peers who judged them for being a little too different in the amount of passion the had for their talent. One only has to look at Nagito Komaeda to see that Hope’s Peak Academy attendees weren’t normal. And maybe this is exactly where Y/N needed to be: with a bunch of people who didn’t fit into normal society because they were meant for more.
And each one of those special misfits had a talent room, a cabin decked out with the things they held dear. From top to bottom, each of them had what was basically a studio apartment handmade personally by Usami. Y/N had already been to the rooms of those closer to her. Mikan’s was of course full of medical equipment, a hospital cot, nursing books, x-ray scans, journals, first aid kit supplies and the like. Kazuichi had gears, oil, blueprints, car parts, scrap metal, and power tools. Y/N, who had been pleasantly surprised with her own room, asked to see Gundham’s as soon as the thought crossed her mind. She’d been spending the last few days with him, just shooting the breeze (as much as they both feared small talk) and now she wanted to see what Usami thought was the ideal environment for the Ultimate Breeder.
Reluctant about letting someone into his personal safe space, but assuring her that her heart witch spells wouldn’t work in his private domain anyhow, he accepted her request. What she saw there was pretty much what she expected. There were extravagant cages with elaborate tunnel systems, hamster food, veterinary magazines and textbooks, animal care guides, again first aid supplies (for much smaller patients then Mikan’s) and so on. He regaled her with tales of hell hounds, the likes of which would put Cerberus to shame, of near fatal clashes with rabid beasts, and she listened happily. Then, it was her turn to host him. Together, they switched over to her cabin so she could show him the sights, and he felt even more vulnerable then before. Something about him being the master of his own room was a sliver more comforting then being in the room of a strange girl. Sure they were friends, and he even began to have elevated feelings for her that he couldn’t explain, but still, all mortals were strange to him. He was a prisoner in this dimension, after all.
Sensing the unease of the boy before her, she attempted to drag him out of his stupor by starting up a conversation. Little did she know, she was the cause of his rigidness, not the atmosphere.
“So, get this,” she motions for him to sit on a chair next to her, also a bit nervous at his closeness, “I was actually sorta considering veterinary work once upon a time, because I do love animals and I like helping living things of all kinds, but I settled on human cardiology work. I think I just had a little more passion for cardiology specifically, although…” at this point, the Devas, also used to spending the days in her presence, were already crawling all over her and her stuff, curious about the new environment, “animals, unlike people, will always accept me. They never judge, and they never gossip behind my back or laugh at my shortcomings. They are totally innocent. That’s the main reason why I love them.” Gundham’s eyes widened at that. He’d never heard someone put it to words exactly how he felt quite like she did. He was sure tons of people felt this way, but he hadn’t met any of them. Animals were his friends when no one else was, because they didn’t care what he looked like or what happened in his past. Maybe she understood that?
“Noble beasts are far too powerful to let the trifles of this pathetic realm bother them. Anything that can talk will betray you.” He spoke the words like he’d said them a million times into a mirror. She nodded quickly in agreement.
“Well, I’ll never betray you.” She slipped out the words before she could stop herself. Almost in complete synchronicity, their faces began to warm up. Eye contact was impossible. Maybe they were a bit too alike in some ways. She cursed herself internally. Maybe that was too far. She was starting to form a little crush, and she refused to scare off her only true friend because of it. “I mean-”
“Silence, witch. I know what meaning lies behind your words…” he crossed his arms across his chest, trying desperately to stop the fluttering of his heart. In her domain, she could cast spells, it seemed. “I, overlord of this world, acknowledge you, and thank you for them…”

Ms Tweetie from Wine Country Animal Lovers in Calistoga, California
Click here for more information about adoption and other ways to help!
Welcome Miss Tweetie She's a sweet senior who was surrendered to the shelter when her human fell ill and could not care for her. We're excited to give her a second chance at a happily ever after! She is 10 years young and comes to us spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. After living a quiet life as an only pet, the busy shelter environment was overwhelming and scary for her so we made room in a WCAL foster home for Miss Tweetie! She quickly made herself comfortable and is making biscuits and so happy to have space to explore and humans to pet her. She's playful at times and faster than you'd think! Miss Tweetie is a healthy, low-maintenance kitty who likes attention but isn't needy either. She'll do her own thing, then join her humans for some pets and cuddles. Miss Tweetie always comes out to greet her fosters when they return home at the end of the work day. She is affectionate and also a little opinionated about how she wants to be pet! Miss T would like a calm home with a regular routine where she can be your one and only fur baby. If you have a catio or safe spot for her to sun herself, even better. Miss Tweetie likes to sleep at the foot of your bed and solicits lots of attention from her people.

“From Furry Friends to Feline Family: A Beginner’s Journey in Cat Parenthood”
Tumblr media
Welcome to the world of cat parenthood! Whether you’re a seasoned pet owner or a first-time feline parent, welcoming a new furry friend into your home is an exciting and rewarding experience. From their playful antics to their soothing purrs, cats have a way of stealing our hearts and becoming an integral part of our family. In this article, we’ll explore the journey from having a furry companion to building a feline family, and share some tips and insights for those embarking on this.
Deciding to Adopt a Cat:
As animal lovers, it’s natural for us to dream of welcoming a furry friend into our homes and hearts. And while the thought of having a cuddly companion to share our lives with is exciting, the decision to adopt a cat is not one that should be taken lightly. As a beginner in cat parenthood, it’s important to approach this decision with careful consideration and preparation.
First and foremost, it’s important to understand that adopting a cat is a long-term commitment. Cats can live anywhere from 12–20 years, so you have to be prepared to provide love, care, and attention for your feline friend for their entire life. This means ensuring that you have the time, resources, and willingness to make this commitment before moving forward with the adoption process.
Next, you’ll need to consider if your current living situation is suitable for a cat. If you rent your home or apartment, make sure that pets are allowed in your lease agreement. You’ll also need to assess if your living space is large enough for a cat to roam comfortably. Cats are known for their independent nature, but they still require enough space to play and explore.
Another important factor in deciding whether or not to adopt a cat is your lifestyle. While cats are relatively low maintenance pets compared to dogs, they.
Preparing for Your New Feline Family Member:
Welcoming a new furry friend into your home is an exciting and joyous experience. For those who have decided to become cat parents, the journey ahead is filled with love, laughter, and lots of purring. However, as with any new addition to the family, there are certain preparations that need to be made before bringing your new feline family member home.
The first step in preparing for your new cat is to ensure that you have all the necessary supplies. These include food and water bowls, a litter box, scratching post, toys, and a comfortable bed. It’s important to do some research on what type of food is best for your cat’s specific needs and also invest in high-quality products that will last longer and provide more comfort for your furry friend.
Next, it’s essential to create a safe and welcoming environment for your cat. Cats are naturally curious creatures and love to explore their surroundings, so it’s crucial to “cat-proof” your home by removing any potential hazards such as toxic plants or small objects that could be swallowed. It’s also a good idea to designate an area specifically for your new cat with their bed, litter box, and toys. This will help them feel secure in their own space while they adjust to their new surroundings.
In addition to physical preparations,
Introducing Your New Cat to Your Home and Current Pets:
Bringing a new cat into your home is an exciting and rewarding experience. However, it can also be a bit nerve-wracking, especially if you already have other pets in the house. Introducing a new cat to your established furry family members requires patience, understanding, and careful planning. In this blog section, we will discuss some tips and tricks to help make the transition smoother for you and your pets.
First and foremost, it’s essential to remember that every cat is different and may have their own unique personality quirks. Some cats may be more outgoing and social, while others may be shy or territorial. It’s crucial to take these individual traits into consideration when introducing them to other pets.
Before bringing your new cat home, make sure to prepare a safe and comfortable space for them. This space should include all the necessary items such as food, water, litter box, scratching post, and toys. Your new cat will need time to adjust to their new surroundings before meeting other pets in the household.
When it comes to introducing your new cat to your current pets, slow and steady wins the race. It’s best not to rush this process as it can cause unnecessary stress for all animals involved. Start by allowing your new cat to explore their designated space while keeping them separated from other.
Understanding Your Cat’s Health Needs and Care:
Welcome to the second part of our blog series on “From Furry Friends to Feline Family: A Beginner’s Journey in Cat Parenthood”. In our previous blog, we discussed the joys and challenges of welcoming a new furry friend into your life. Now, as you settle into your new role as a cat parent, it is important to understand your cat’s health needs and how to provide them with proper care.
As pet owners, we all want our beloved felines to live long and healthy lives. However, unlike dogs, cats are known for hiding any signs of illness or discomfort until it becomes too severe. This makes it crucial for cat owners to be vigilant and proactive when it comes to their cat’s health.
One of the first steps in understanding your cat’s health needs is by familiarizing yourself with their breed-specific traits and common health issues. Different breeds may have different predispositions to certain diseases or conditions. For example, Maine Coon cats are more prone to heart disease while Siamese cats may be more susceptible to respiratory problems. By knowing your cat’s breed-specific health risks, you can take preventive measures and monitor their health accordingly.
Another important aspect of understanding your cat’s health needs is being aware of their daily habits and behaviors. As mentioned earlier, cats are experts at hiding
Creating a Bond with your Furry Friend through Playtime and Training:
Welcome to our blog series, “From Furry Friends to Feline Family: A Beginner’s Journey in Cat Parenthood.” In this segment, we will be discussing the importance of creating a bond with your new furry friend through playtime and training.
As a new cat parent, it can be overwhelming to bring a new feline into your home. You want to ensure that they are happy and well-adjusted in their new environment. This is where building a strong bond with your cat comes into play.
Playtime is crucial in developing a strong bond with your cat. Cats are natural hunters and thrive on mental and physical stimulation. By engaging in regular play sessions with your cat, you are not only providing them with the necessary exercise but also building trust and strengthening the bond between you two.
It’s important to understand that each cat has their own unique personality and preferences when it comes to playtime. Some may enjoy chasing toys while others may prefer interactive games such as hide-and-seek or puzzle toys. It’s essential to try out different types of toys and games to see what your cat responds best to.
In addition to playtime, training is another great way to create a bond with your furry friend. Contrary to popular belief, cats can be trained just like dogs. Training not only provides
Embracing the Joys and Challenges of Being a Cat Parent:
Welcoming a new furry friend into your home is an exciting and rewarding experience. As you embark on this journey of cat parenthood, you will undoubtedly encounter both joys and challenges along the way. In this blog section, we will delve into the various aspects of being a cat parent — from the joys of bonding with your feline companion to the challenges of raising a happy and healthy cat.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of being a cat parent is the strong bond that forms between you and your feline family member. Cats are known for their independent nature, but they also have a strong need for affection and companionship. As you spend time with your cat, playing, cuddling, and grooming them, you will develop a deep bond that will bring joy to your life every day. This bond is what makes cats such wonderful companions and beloved members of our families.
However, along with the joys come challenges that every cat parent must face. One common challenge is providing proper care for your cat’s physical and emotional needs. Cats require regular grooming, exercise, and mental stimulation to stay healthy and happy. As a new cat parent, it can be overwhelming to learn all about these needs and how to fulfill them. But don’t worry — we have got you covered! Our blog section provides helpful
The Importance of Responsible Ownership in Nurturing Happy Cats:
As animal lovers, many of us have dream of having a furry friend to call our own. And for those who have decided to take the plunge into cat parenthood, it can be an exciting and rewarding experience. However, with great love comes great responsibility, and it is important for us to understand the significance of responsible ownership in nurturing happy cats.
The first step towards being a responsible cat owner is in understanding the needs and nature of these independent creatures. Cats may seem low maintenance compared to other pets, but they still require proper care and attention. This includes providing them with a suitable living environment, regular visits to the veterinarian, and ensuring they have a nutritious diet.
Creating a comfortable home for your feline family member is essential for their well-being. Cats are territorial animals and need a space that they can call their own. This could be a designated area in your home or even a cozy cat tree where they can climb and scratch to their heart’s content. Providing them with toys and scratching posts not only keeps them entertained but also helps prevent destructive behavior.
It is also crucial to establish a routine for regular check-ups with your veterinarian. Cats may appear healthy on the outside, but regular check-ups can help detect any underlying health issues early on. This not only ensures the longevity of your.

Name: Auburn
Pronouns: She/They

Dorm: Ramshackle
Class: Class A, No. 9 (Shares a seat with Grim)
Birthday: April 3rd.
Age: 18
Height: 174 centimeters
Dominant Hand: Right.
Homeland: Unknown.
Best Subject: Alchemy
Club: Mountain Lovers
Hobbies: Writing stories.
Pet Peeves: Leaving dirty utensils on the counter.
Talents: Playing music.
Favorite Food: Any kind of cheesecake.
Least Favorite Food: Onions.
Unique Magic: None.
Other Funky Stuff
She didn't think she would be that good at alchemy but was very curious about it. It ended up being her best subject.
They've recently gotten into doodling their classmates and has even painted some of them, but only Grim knows this.
(Brief discussion of their anxiety disorders) Had really bad anxiety the first week of being in Twisted Wonderland that caused them to be physically ill and panicked. Managed to adjust after a while with help from Heartslabyul (minus Ace LMAO) since they were her first real friends here.
Helps Ruggie run errands for Leona because they love to help out with anything and everything. In fact, they feel worse if they aren't helping. This caught the attention of a certain cephalopod.
They really didn't notice Azul until he (kind of) opened up to her at the museum. She realized they have a lot of things in common and got very irritated (lovingly!!) when he thought she was flattering him.
They shrugged it off though, and ultimately decided to let him judge their character as he saw fit since they're not only a terrible liar but are very animated. Then a raging crush hit. Oops.
She was a bit wary of the Leech twins at first because of what everyone said, but once she got to know them she was very open!! She's on good terms with them.
They often have to try to tell Kalim to chill out with his parties because he puts too much pressure on Jamil. He usually doesn't listen and they feel too guilt to stay for long.
They sneak Epel snacks because they cringe at the thought of spending one day in Pomfiore. it's not that they hate Vil, it's just there's no way they could keep up with him.
At first they thought they could be friends with Idia, but the second he opened his mouth they were annoyed. (Know-it-alls being their second highest pet peeve sigh.)
Makes an effort to invite Malleus over as often as possible and has even set aside a room for him when he wants to stay in the ruins he used to find so calming. (They actually feel a little guilty for taking away his safe space.)
They clean up Ramshackle in their spare time because they can't STAND living in a dusty, dirty environment. Grim appreciates this because he doesn't have to help, the demon.
Sam is their favorite faculty member and they always give him a high five after a shopping trip.

be mentally ill in the "cringe" way if youre in a safe environment to do so. be stereotypical. be best friends or even lovers with your alters. stim openly. dye your hair and dress messy and carry stuffed animals. make vent art and be fucking edgy about it when you need to. do what you need to do in order to make life bearable for yourself.
the people who will have a problem with you for it never cared about mentally ill or disabled people enough anyway if they cant love the people who fall into the stereotypes. "people THINK mentally ill people are FREAKS, but theyre actually NORMAL-" well its okay to be freak too actually. fuck you. be a little weird and maybe youll chill out. damn.
be a freak. love and light on planet earth.
