alphonse -> guacamole avocado <- according to bf

caroline -> already ripped open pomegranate

old man de lacy -> sour grape

felix -> not too lumpy potato

safie -> dark pink & cut in half dragonfruit

whatever the other de lacy's name was (the girl) -> sweet grape

Hello everyone! Sme big news! I've finally finished the one quest about finding out what happened to Martin's birdseed! However, there's a very big announcement to be made, so do read further!

First, let's talk about this quest. It's a bit of a back and forth run, asking around and asking for information. You accuse some people of being a criminal, et cetera. That said, you get a good reward...And that reward is...

Safie, Captain of the Royal Guard- a new candidate!

Safie was a popular NPC since I created her, many amongst friends wishing she was a candidate. So while she has no fancy card yet, and I need to update the existing cards anyway...She's going to be romanceable!

Some other things I've done is add Dye to the game, patrolling the water of the docks...

Basically, lots of stuff with the guards. I even added a new guard, Topaz! But for now, that's all! Welcome Safie to the roster!

There seem to be very few changes between editions in the Creature chapters, and so far it has only been a word or two which don't make much difference in my mind (for example, from later in this chapter, changing "puerile amusements" in 1818 to "infantile amusements" in 1831, or changing "his plans were greatly facilitated" to "his plans were facilitated").

But, while the above quote is also only a two-word change, it feels like one which definitely changes the meaning. 1818 says father as Safie deplores her fate when told she's going to be married off to a stranger. This once again emphasizes the prevalence of a strained fatherly relationship and a child sacrificing their desires to familial duties, a bit more than the shift to the less specific parent does in 1831. It's an odd change, as Safie and her father are meant to be at odds, and he in fact is villainized in some pretty cliche/racist ways throughout the rest of the chapter, so that dimension of their relationship doesn't exactly go away. But while he's still called her father later in the same sentence when she is defying him, it happens later on after he's betrayed the De Laceys. Perhaps the shift to parent is meant to show how she is dedicated to her family as a concept more than this specific man who doesn't deserve it; in a sense, more to the memory of her mother's values which align her with the De Lacey family. It's kinda muddy, though, and I'm not sure how much difference it makes here.

The main change that actually strikes me here is the difference between deeply/gently deploring her fate. In both editions, after spending time with him Safie fairly quickly decides that marrying Felix is okay, actually. And that, in fact, it's the right/desirable thing to do even to the point of running away from her father (though I think you could read it as more her following an honorable course of action/not having many other decent options rather than her necessarily loving him as well). Still, at the beginning Safie was not pleased about the idea. Literally gentling her reaction feels like minimizing her distress in anticipation of this 'he's a good guy' happy ending - meanwhile erasing a sign of Safie's intense emotions, and how they were helpless to the pressure of familial expectation. Once again, something that plays into themes of at the very least the original 1818 Frankenstein family. In this specific circumstance, it also plays into female freedom or lack thereof, and such feminist themes as well.

okay so i will try to do a frankenstein summary, or at least introduce the characters. if you want the full proper experience you should read the book!! alternatively osp has a pretty good video (but u should. seriously read the book)

so, lets start. meet the characters :3

-> victor frankenstein. the guy himself. our miserable protag. best friends with henry clerval, engaged to elizabeth lavenza, made the creature slash adam (<- this is a fanon name! He never gets named in canon which is sad)

-> adam frankenstein slash the creature, the Guy that victor created then subsequently abandoned. he makes me so sad dude his story is so. AUGJHGH

-> elizabeth lavenza! she was adopted by the Frankenstein family out of poverty and is victors. er. cousin. slash sister. slash future wife. yeah it sucks. shes pretty chill though, i like her

-> henry clerval! victors best friend (totally not boyfriend /j) and perpetual ray of sunshine. hes so silly i love him so much

-> justine moritz, william's nanny, also kinda got adopted by the frankensteins. best friends with elizabeth

-> william frankenstein, victors youngest sibling & ernest frankenstein, the middle child. ernest gets mentioned once and is never brought up again for some reason

-> alphonse frankenstein, victors dad & caroline beaufort, victors (dead) mom

-> captain robert walton, the guy who finds victor in the artic. hes technically the one writing the story since hes writing down victors narrative to. send to his sister. like the whole book. he is also down bad for victor which is really funny tbh

-> the de lacy family (+ safie) , they're important to adam's story but otherwise irrelevant

The very concept that Eddie Diaz got outed by Family Feud is hilarious actually. What gave it away is that they picked Josh as the 5th member instead of anyone else
