New doll post! I finally found a Bandai Tuxedo Mask doll out of box. I didn’t put him on my wishlist but I was always seeking one out. He’s sorta hard to find used but complete. Today was a very good day!!!!!

A very very kind friend offered to help me acquire some of the Giochi SM dolls I’ve needed for my collection by serving as a proxy, since most of the Ebay IT sellers wouldn’t ship to the US and it would’ve been more expensive to import them individually! The most important one to me is DEFINITELY Princess Serenity; she’s one of the many foreign SM dolls I coveted when I was a child, from the moment I saw her on the now-defunct Sailormoontoys website!

She comes with a very similar spinning platform to Dance N Twirl Barbie that you can “drive” around with the included remote control- it also lights up and plays the melody for Moonlight Densetsu (as shown in this video)!

Along with her dress being the prettiest and most accurate of any Princess Serenity doll made (despite the tiara and the random Heart Moon Rod that she comes with....), I think she’s one of the best examples of a doll designer perfectly melding the anime with a clever toy concept that acknowledges how kids actually play with toys; you can tell they actually watched the Serenity transformation scene in the anime, knew that kids would want to reenact the princess spinning with their dolls (as I did FREQUENTLY with my SM dolls) and developed an entire play concept around it, and I just think that’s so cool.

I do want to test out the dancing feature but I also never thought I would ever get this doll, let alone NIB so I want to keep her NIB for a few days at least. Talking Super Sailor Moon is also really cool and really funny lol

She’s Giochi’s version of the Bandai JP Chara Talk line, that features a remote system where you can make them talk via the button on the doll’s back, or by pressing the button on the (sold separately) wand and pointing it at her! There’s also a regular Giochi SSM in the same outfit with the same face as the other Giochi dolls, but I opted to get this one since her makeup is different. I’m on a bit of a quest to get all of the Super Sailor Moon dolls made (minus the pullip because I don’t like them lol) so I’m happy to cross this one off my list and I’m interested to see all of the little similarities and differences between her outfit and the Bandai JP versions! The only thing is that she comes with the wrong wand...lol? I find this really hilarious because they would have had to go out of their way to reproduce the 1992 Moon Stick (in different colors, I might add) and add extra wiring inside to function as a remote instead of just doing a 1:1 reproduction of the Bandai Kaleido Moonscope that already came with this tech lol, like, why??? I also got the original SM Giochi doll (which comes with her Cosmic Heart brooch and Spiral Heart Moon Rod despite the artwork being from two other seasons lol) and the Gigante 17′’ Sailor Moon doll which I have always wanted!

She has one of the cutest SM doll faces out there imo, even if her tiny brooch and tiara make her look kind of goofy. I do also want to get the 1997 17′’ doll from Irwin since they’re made with the same sculpts and screenings as the 17′’ Giochi dolls and I love a good comparison lol ECSTATIC to finally have these dolls and excited to keep going with my vintage Sailor Moon doll collection!
