Why Sakura Haruno is literally the best written character in Naruto - a rant.

She is the epitome of Narutos meaning.

So, main question is, what is Naruto about? On most surfaces level - about fox-boy having adventures, but that's not why most of us fell in love with the story. Below fox-boy, was fighting against your odds, learning, failing, getting back up, trying and becoming stronger, and most importantly about this quote:

"You dont have to be born a genius, you can become one".

This is what Naruto was about.

Arc with Haku and Zabuza? Find someone worth fighting for and become stronger for that person.

Chunnin exams? Naruto gives his all against Neji, to prove him, that you don't have to be born special, you can become special.

3rd Hokage vs Orochimaru - will of fire, that pushes you to protect your family, will keep the village alive.

Naruto vs Gaara - you can be hated and ignored all your life for your weakness, but if you keep trying people will notice you.

And so on and do forth.

But then we learned that Naruto was born to hokage and an Uzumaki. He got shit ton of chakra and a LITERAL beast in him to protect him. He was born great and to be great.

He failed his own narrative.

Menwhile Sakura was born a civilian, a noone, no magic eyes, no beast to help, no clan to learn from, nothing. She was an annoying girl with no aspiration. Thats it. Everything else she has is just her hard work and dedication. She become stronger than most of people "born great", just by trying to help people she cares about.

She is everything Naruto was set-up to be.

Is she a perfect person? No. And this is exactly what makes her a perfect character.

She's is flawed, she's sometimes emotional, she's not always confident and not always THE BEST BECAUSE PLOT.

SHE IS THE MOST HUMAN AND THE MOST INSPIRING.

And its annoying af when people dont understand her character, because that shows they didn't understand the story AT ALL.

She did her best and made mistakes but grown because of them.

Oh i was weak and couldn't protect my friends when they needed me? I'll do my best now, and try to be better next time.

She didn't give up and decided "well I'm weak so I'll stay that way". She trained under the strongest kunoichi of her time, who was beating her till she was unconscious and had many of her bones broken, because "Tsunade can heal her later".

Sakura from beginning would just give up, because 1) why bother when she can be pretty and 2) it hurts and takes time so it's easier to give up.

But she has grown.

AND THE WORST OF ALL IS that she gets shit for everything Naruto is praised for.

Naruto is understanding Sasuke and wants him to be back - great friend.

Sakura does the same (she understands him even more in first part- she is the only one who know that Sasuke is about to leave the village)- delusional SIMP (even when it was stated in manga that she didn't want him to herself, she wanted to safe him).

Naruto throws himself into fight he has no chance in to be a distraction - WOW SO SMART. HE IS GREAT.

Sakura does the same - weak. Delusional.

Naruto is always getting help during fights - he wins by himself.

Sakura gets bit of help from Chiyo (even when Chiyo stated herself that Sakura didn't need her) - WELL SHE DID NOTHING, IT WAS CHIYOS FIGHT.

Naruto is rude to everyone, BUT GROWS FROM IT- he was just a kid, that doesn't matter. He is a different person now.

Sakura was rude to someone, qpologies and grows from it - ITS UNFORGETTABLE. SHES A B*TCH.

What you all expected her to do?

- She is weak! - she became strong. BUT NOT AS STRONG AS THE STRONGEST, so its shit.

- She's rude to Naruto and made fun of a orphan - she was one of first people who cared about Naruto and opened a clinic for children's mental health - BUT WHEN SHE WAS 12 SHE SAID BAD THING SO STILL A B*TCH.

- She couldn't help Naruto and Sasuke in forests of death - she became a healer - BUT SHE DIDN'T HEAL EVERYONE EVERYTIME.

- She is useless - she isn't, she saved many people (including Naruto), and was especially useful during pain invasion - BUT WHEN NOONE COULD DO A THING AGAINST PAIN SHE COULDN'T ALSO SO SHES TRASH.

She gets trashed for things other people do and noone even bats an eye.

- But she punched Naruto! - so did Guy to Lee but you love them both and their relationship.

I've never seen someone call guy "abusive".

- But she was mean to Naruto! - so was everyone else, but I've never seen them risk their life to safe Naruto or his dream.

- But she only cares about Sasuke - no, no she doesn't, she cares for MANY PEOPLE like Naruto, Shikamaru ect. She even takes Naruto's side against Sasuke.

She also did many shitty things, don't get me wrong (like fight against Ino, I think she needed this to bloom, but it was indeed shit behavior), but so did everyone else.

Example - Naruto:

TALKING LIKE THAT TO A CHILD WHO LOST ALMOST EVERYTHING????? UNFORGETTABLE. RIGHT? Right?

About people like Sasuke, Gaara, Hinata, Neji, 3rd Hokage ect. I'm not going to talk because it will be material for whole different posts and it's already getting too long.

In summary:

You all are just Nejis from chunnin exams.

"Either you are born perfect or die a failure."

You all are just villagers form beginning of the series.

"WELL SOMEONE DID A BAD THINGS AT THE BEGINNING AND WAS WEAK SO I HATE THEM"

You all didn't understand Naruto as a story at all.

SAKURA HARUNO (NARUTO)

1.) 1.) It is repeatedly stated throughout the series the areas in which she excels. We are told over and over again that she is gifted (early on in the series) or tremendously strong (end of the series) and yet with the exception of of the Sasori fight, there seems to be a staunch refusal to actually SHOW her being competent in a fight. 2.) her backstory ties into nothing plotwise as far as the overarching world and history of the village and its families. The three other leads (Sasuke Naruo, Kakashi) all get their own relevant backstory that gets delved into. But Sakura? Neither has one nor goes off and embroils herself personally into one of these overarching plot points. She is constantly forced to just be a companion/side character to the stories of her male counterparts. 3.) She’s given so much potential for a great powersuite and those all either go unrealized or she gets shown up by other characters. idk if this is what was meant by propaganda but its what i got

2.) Despite becoming the world’s best surgeon and doctor at age 17 (including doing open heart surgery in the middle of an active battlefield), her achievements are routinely undercut and underplayed by the canon.

It’s all the more disappointing because in some ways, she’s a very realistic and humanistic depiction of a teenage girl. Unlike her teammates, she grew up in what we would consider a pretty average family situation (two living parents who love her, even if they don’t understand her choices), and has relatively average goals at the beginning. Compared to her teammates who are orphans from dynastic ninja clans, who were basically born to a lineage of massive amounts of powerful ninja magic; Sakura’s civilian family has given her no genetic predisposition to being powerful. Despite this, she’s shown to be highly intelligent, achieving top scores on exams and having a deep knowledge for theory and concepts.

She begins the story having a crush on Sasuke Uchiha, a boy who has no interest in her, and hating Naruto, their village’s Omelas Child. However, as she works with her team, she bonds with them on a deeper level, and works very hard to meet their natural level of skill and not be deadweight on their team.

However, despite the fact that trios are treated with deep cultural and narrative significance throughout Naruto, the narrative quickly abandons the “Team 7 Trio” framing in all the ways that matter, becoming the Naruto-and-Sasuke show in all ways that matter. When Sakura gets her time to shine, she’s always undercut. Her massive physical strength and strong sense of self in Shippuden are never treated with the same reverence as her teammates’. Despite the fact that she can easily shatter rock and manipulate the ground with her sheer physical power, and that she was originally presented as good at genjutsu (illusion magic); she becomes a field medic/doctor – a carer/support role, rather than a DPS. Her decisions to advocate for herself and the people she cares about (such as trying to kill Sasuke) are treated as foolish and naive, not a heroic choice to try and help her friends at a large personal cost.

She also basically never gets to fight a man, except for one important case: Sasori. This is important, because the female characters in Naruto are routinely presented as less powerful and less of a threat than male characters. While her fight with Sasori is a fantastic arc, it ends with Sasori undercutting her victory by being like “well actually I wanted to die”, implying that he’d chosen to let her win, not that her win is well deserved. This is at the start of Shippuden, she doesn’t get a solo fight arc after that.

Of course, the most egregious thing done to Sakura is that she’s married off to Sasuke. Despite the fact that Sasuke is never once shown to give a shit about her, and the fact that her character development in a large part was about her giving up the childish and misogynistic desire to be a wife to the cute guy in her class, suddenly they’re together. Sasuke is a deadbeat husband, however, and immediately fucks off, to the point where he doesn’t recognise their child when he meets her, and tries to kill her. Sakura-the-housewife-waiting-at-the-window-for-her-husband’s-return is again now deeply in love with a man who doesn’t give a shit about her. The only photo she has of them together is shown to be a cutout of another photo of Sasuke stuck on a photo of her. She’s again trapped in a housewife box, her achievements and skill sideline to her ability to rear a child for the male lead. And worse, despite the fact she’s a very confident person who otherwise has no issue advocating for herself, she doesn’t really seem to fight back against this awful status quo in her relationship, grateful for the scraps of affection Sasuke delivers to her once a decade.

3.) Despite being on a team of three, she’s always side lined for the other two. Her whole thing is healing, then in a major arc at the end of the main series a character gets hurt and when she goes to attempt to heal them, she is pushed aside so Naruto can do his amazing magic healing that he just learned and is already better at it than her.

HINATA HYUUGA (NARUTO)

1.) When Hinata was introduced she goals, weaknesses, interesting interactions and relationships with characters other than naruto and a personality of her own. Post timeskip in shippuden, however, she was reduced down to simply ‘naruto’s future love interest’ and little else. The entire Hyuuga plotline was dropped and she no longer had any relevance or personality outside of naruto. Part 1 hinata was shy and insecure on the surface but underneath that she was determined & hardworking, even to her own detriment. Her struggles were compelling. Her interactions with neji and her family are something you look forward to seeing more of. In shippuden she’s like a flat carboard cutout of hinata. Her shyness exaggerated, her relationship with her family suddenly perfectly fine and boring. In part 1 naruto inspires her to keep trying but he isn’t the reason she’s working so hard, in shippuden he’s pretty much all she thinks about. Her change in character design really highlights these changes - the perfect little wife for cishet men to fantasise about.

2.) Her entire personality and arc is boiled down to “shy uwu waifu in love with Naruto” and basically any development she gets, which is barely at all because Kishimoto hates women, is as attributed to NARUTO and Naruto only. Even her reaction to her beloved COUSIN’S DEATH makes her be like “omg I love Naruto” and serves to further NaruHina, which is absolutely insane she would Not react like that. Naruto only starts being romantically interested in her at the beginning of like, The Last movie, which is after 500ish episodes of her being treated as the sidelined love interest who is devoted to a guy who only cares about her when she’s a damsel in distress on a fight.

There are so many parts of her character that are/could be interesting, like her part in the Hyuga Clan due to being born as a superior and her dynamic with her cousin Neji as a result, (which could have had SO many great moments of reconciliation and standing up for each other grrr grrr) an exploration of the impact of her bullying & being looked down upon (even when she’s supposed to be a superior member, which adds to the shame) LIKE MANY OF THE CAST, seriously the people Naruto trauma dumps to are mostly consisted of people unfairly treated like that and it could have been used to further NaruHina WHILE showing her struggles

She is an incredibly capable fighter but the moment Naruto is there, she instantly becomes defenseless and needs to be saved by her crush, mostly as a “wow look at him isn’t he so brave and kind to do this for her?!”

There’s an episode where she is literally used as a defenseless punching bag for Pein by trying to sacrifice herself for Naruto and telling him she loves him, JUST so he can be more angry and have more motivation to beat Pein’s ass (aside of the yknow. Killing his loved ones thing) AND her confession is ignored by Naruto for the rest of the series. Just like any moment she shows her crush for him is met with obliviousness, which would be fine if they weren’t the main couple and didn’t go on for THE ENTIRE SERIES!!!!

In Boruto, the shitty sequel, Naruto is basically her deadbeat husband in her bland lavander marriage and Boruto is rightfully mad about Naruto’s distance from the family and even says he left her basically a single mom and barely pays time to the family, and Hinata’s role in the show as the housewife is being like “no you see Boruto you have to understand your father’s pov as the Hokage” and the narrative treats NaruHina’s marriage as a Good, Healthy Thing as if the characters are not miserable in this marriage.

3.) Man I don’t even like her that much but she deserved SO much better. She was introduced as the heiress of a really powerful and renowed clan with complex dynamics, yet the author somehow decided to do almost NOTHING with the potential she had, and gave her very little personality besides being shy and fawning over the protagonist. She gets slightly more active in Shippuden (part 2), but her character still pretty much revolves around her love for Naruto, which sucks because again, she has so much potential. It’s no secret that women in Naruto are badly written, and Hinata certainly is no exception. The male characters get dozens of episodes/chapters about their motivations, their backstories, what pushes them to keep going, and Hinata gets almost nothing besides her lifelong crush on Naruto that we are reminded of literally every time she’s on screen.

First scene of a fic that bangs under the cut. There's an actual premise for the fic but I think it's funner if that's not obvious.

“Hey, kid. Wanna join a gang?”

Sakura halted, kunai half-buried in the hard packed dirt. She looked upwards, blinking owlishly. 

Obito didn’t have to fight the urge to sweat, because he was partly wood and wasn’t capable of it. The desire persisted. Sakura blinked at him.

He was being ridiculous. The girl couldn’t level mountains with a punch or stop hearts with a touch. She wasn’t head of a hospital and inventor of a dozen medical techniques. She wasn’t even married. Not even to idiots. This was a whole-ass civilian child. She could barely stick a leaf to her abnormally large forehead.

“What kind of gang?” Sakura paused a beat. “I’m not supposed to talk to strangers.”

“I’m not a stranger, I’m a ninja. That’s trustworthy.” Ninjas were pretty famous for being trustworthy, straightforward people. Granted, there was an outlier that should not be counted. “And it’s a fun gang. With…uh, candy.”

Sakura narrowed her eyes. “Where’s your headband?”

“Laundry day.”

Sakura applied every ounce of her genius intellect towards considering this. Obito carefully crouched down across from her, looking down at the small and crumbling hole she’d created. Wasn’t she a bit too old to dig in the dirt for fun? 

Finally, she said, “Sorry, Suspicious Ninja-san. I have school, homework, and chores. And a class project due next week. I have no time in my schedule for a gang.”

“Not even if it’s a really good one?” Obito wheedled.

Sakura shook her head solemnly.

Obito sighed dramatically, poking a gloved finger into the small hole. He allowed Sakura to smack his finger away with the kunai, ignoring her glare. It was super cute and potentially deadly. “So you’re too busy learning away, huh? Guess you’re just another kid with no intellectual curiosity. If you’re perfectly happy with the normal classes, I guess you don’t need advanced ones…”

Obviously, that got her attention. Obito knew full well that classes weren’t challenging her. Acing all of them across the board was a point of pride, but she knew that she wasn’t reaching her potential. She wanted to ace more difficult exams, which was more pride, and continue onwards towards higher difficulty in her quest for self-esteem. She searched unceasingly for the most difficult questions so she could experience the vain victory of knowing she was better than everybody else. Gifted kids. They were all the same.

“Is your gang a class?” Sakura demanded. “Is it special tutoring? Like the clan kids get?”

Ah. And maybe she wanted to do the impossible just to be as good as everybody else. That had always been the life of Sakura Haruno.

“It’s a group of people bound together by a shared dream,” Obito said mysteriously. Sakura’s eyes widened. “Yeah, we teach each other things. Special secret techniques that only we know. Here, I’ll show you one.” He looked down at the hole, brushing away stray rocks. “You weren’t using this hole for anything, right?”

“I was digging for worms,” Sakura said, frank and even. Somehow, her little dress didn’t have a speck of mud on it. 

“Cool. Uh, why?”

“They have really simple chakra networks.”

“Sorry I asked.” Obito dug his finger a little deeper into the hole, forming a small cavity, before raising his hand and cupping it over the hole. “Watch carefully. A true ninja looks underneath the underneath.”

Anybody looking from a distance - anybody from ANBU to nosy mothers - would have assumed he dug into the hole and pulled it out. But Sakura, ear to the ground and big green eyes fixed on the magic underneath Obito’s hand, saw it clearly.

A wisp of green pushed through the bottom of the hole. It slowly rose upwards, leaves growing and unfurling, as it reached the top of the hole and continued to grow. Petals budded at the top of the plant and unfurled, spreading pink. Spring passed in an instant, and in a slight of hand Obito pulled the plant up by the stem and pretended it had been there all along.

It was a camilla, petals dyed as pink as Sakura’s hair. Obito ceremoniously presented it to her. She was almost unable to take it: she was stupified, surprised stiff. She knew exactly what she had just seen.

She mouthed three syllables to herself: Mokuton. Obito smiled slyly. 

Sakura finally took the flower, inspecting it closely. Somewhat critically, she said, “Camillas don’t come in pink.”

“I thought I’d cater to my audience.” Obito leaned in, and Sakura ducked her head to match him. “I can teach you how to do it.”

Sakura’s eyes narrowed, twirling the flower between her finger and thumb. “It’s a kekkai genkai. You can’t teach kekkai genkais. And nobody would, anyway.”

“I would. I’m even offering.”

“Who are you?”

“Guy who wants to put together a gang. With fun and candy.”

Sakura’s eyes narrowed further into slits. “You said the gang already existed.”

“Let’s just say that we’re getting the gang back together for the very first time.”

“Why would we say that?”

She had not warned him that it would be this difficult. Obito remembered little girls as being way more pliable than this. But most little girls would have run away from strangers offering free rides, so maybe Sakura was more gullible than most. Or more susceptible to temptation. But every great ninja was.

“Flowers have simple chakra systems too.” Obito put his hand over the pit again. “Feel for my chakra this time. Earth and water. Watch what I do.”

He made a small sapling this time, which was far simpler and straightforward than creating a flower that didn’t exist. Sakura watched him carefully, eyes closed shut, and when he finished she reached in and ripped out the sapling herself. She studied the sapling carefully before sticking it in her mouth, running her tongue over the leaves and stem. Then she spat it out, brushing dirt over the plant as if burying a body and placing her hand over the hole.

Sakura screwed her eyes shut and lay there for a long time. Obito’s mind was almost spiraling into megalomania again before she began drawing her hand up. She made several small motions with her fingers, almost pinching, and Obito watched in marked interest as a small sapling rose from the soil. It only grew an inch out of the soil, and it was nothing more than a sprout, but so was Sakura. 

When she opened her eyes and saw what she had made - when she realized that the no-name and do-nothing girl could create a mokuton as mighty as the god’s - Obito knew that he had hooked her.

Obito smiled at her, stiff and unyielding. “I have a dream. I’m dreaming of a world filled with meadows of beautiful flowers and forests of the tallest trees. You could help me create this dream, Sakura. I can teach you some of it, but you’ll have to make it the rest of the way on your own.”

The sapling sat in Sakura’s palm, and Obito knew that she found it far more beautiful than any flower. When she spoke, she stared at the sapling. “How?”

“Well…” Obito scratched at the back of his neck, laughing slightly. “How do you feel about crime?”

“Crime?!”

In the end, he had to kidnap her a bit. Technically he could have kidnapped her from the beginning, but a little work now saved a lot of work later. She complained a lot at first about her ‘family’ and ‘school’ and ‘desertion’, but she got over all of that predictably quickly. Her village did too: a disappearing child was not noteworthy in Konoha. Worst case scenario they’d accidentally stir up some ‘but I thought you kidnapped her for your child army’ situations.

Obito would create a heaven on earth, come hell or high water. Anybody who got in his way would die, from the lowliest Suna ninja to the Hokage himself. That was what it meant to be an optimist. And this little girl would be key to it all.

The Haruno kingdom was built on peace. 

They were small but were on good terms with all the neighboring kingdoms. The kingdom was known for its beautifully grown, natural cherry blossom trees. The flowers often painted the roads and town in pink. People came from all over to view the trees. Some came to have their weddings or honeymoons there. The people there were always welcoming. Even the royal family was welcoming to visitors, and even allowed some weddings to take place upon the castle grounds.

But the real treasure of the kingdom was not the cherry blossom trees, but the kingdom’s princess. It was long believed that the queen could not have children but due to a miracle, she became pregnant one day. A baby girl, born with hair as pink as the cherry blossom trees, and eyes greener than any emeralds. She was given the name Sakura and quickly became beloved by the people of the kingdom. Not only was Sakura blessed with beauty, but she grew up to be an intelligent and strong woman. One with a caring heart. Through years of study and practice, she learned healing magic to help the sick and injured. She also had a natural talent for strength enhancing magic that she could use in a fight if needed. Really, Sakura never expected to need it. A diamond shaped mark rested on her forehead as a symbol of her talent with the arts.

Many princes from different kingdoms tried to gain Sakura’s hand in marriage but she rejected every one. She wanted to get married when she decided to, and the kingdom was in no rush to make ties with another kingdom, so her parents respected her wishes.

But now… She wasn’t left with a choice. 

In a single night, Sakura’s kingdom was destroyed. They were unprepared and taken off guard by the sudden attack. The once beautiful streets covered in pink were now painted red from people being needlessly slaughtered. The small army they did have struggled to protect the castle from the attack but it was all in vain. The castle was overtaken, the king and queen captured. Sakura was a lot harder to capture. She knocked out a lot of soldiers but eventually was overwhelmed and dragged into the throne room. Her dress was badly torn in places. Sakura was pretty roughed up, hair a mess. Her long hair became her downfall as one of the soldiers grabbed it and yanked her back towards him. She loved her long hair but at that moment, she wished she didn’t have it.

Sakura gave the tyrant a dirty look. She didn’t know who he was. He was from some unknown kingdom they didn’t know about. They were in good standing with most kingdoms. He must have known they were small, and weak and that's why he targeted them. It made her blood boil. She wanted to spat at him and tell him to go to hell but there was too much on the line to let her temper get the best of her. Her struggling stopped, and she looked at her mother, then her father, then to all the injured and dead that scattered the once proud throne room. 

“Alright, I will marry you.” 

“Sakura-!” Her mother gasp, but Sakura cut her off,

“I care not about myself, I just want this senseless violence to end. I will marry you, give you everything you want, just leave my kingdom alone. They have suffered enough, now could you please let me go and allow me to heal my father?”

The princess kept a brave face, but really she was a bit scared of what was in store for her being this tyrant’s wife. She knew what was expected of wives; support their husbands, have heirs, just be happy. But Sakura was strong willed, and will not stand aside and be some submissive woman. She will make sure this tyrant quickly learns that.

SasuSaku: Sacrificed To The Banished Prince Chapter 3

"My Lady, if you'd please follow me." Sakura obeyed her handmaid, a tall blond named Ino, wordlessly.

If the Haruno woman was defeated upon her arrival at the Uchiha prince's manor, she was obliterated beyond repair when he made it clear she was not going to become his wife or be killed. As twisted and toxic as the thought may be, the pinkette couldn't see herself as worthy of living a life outside the orders of what her family demanded. Either she'll die or marry the prince. There were no other options.

This task was all she was good for. Years upon years of abuse and neglect convinced the woman of that. So, she was stuck trying to come up with a way to convince the second Uchiha heir to change his mind, if not to become her husband, then to at least take her life.

Not a single night in the four days that had passed since her arrival had she slept soundly. If she left her bedroom, her body felt strange. The butlers named Sai and Yamamoto made it clear that the third floor of the manor was completely off-limits, but her feet wanted nothing more than to climb those marble stairs. Why that was, Sakura had no clue. She'd never felt something like this before. She wondered if perhaps it was magic, something she'd only heard of in passing and never witnessed.

If she remained in her bedroom and tried to sleep, strange scenes would play on repeat. In them, she was young again, maybe ten or twelve years old, and she was holding hands with a boy. His name and face were unknown, but somehow she knew they were kindred spirits. They were friends.

In the dream, they were walking through a thriving and beautiful garden when a terrifying man with yellow eyes suddenly appeared. Sakura was scared of the man, and so was her friend. In fact, her friend shoved her away. She could hear his voice, barely above a whisper in her ear, saying, "Run! Get help!" Then she'd wake up in tears, terrified, and breathing heavily.

'It feels like a memory, but I don't remember ever visiting a place like that. It was obviously not the Haruno estate, and I wasn't allowed to leave home, so it can't be real.' Sakura's hands shook as she clasped them together and continued following her maid. 'What can it be, then? A vision? No. That's impossible. Only those with magical abilities have premonitions like that.'

"Here we are, Lady Haruno. The lord of the house wishes for you to help yourself to the library. Additionally, please inform me of any hobbies you enjoy so I may prepare the necessary materials."

Sakura nodded silently, stumbling toward the first massive bookcase in awe. This was the largest collection of literature she'd ever seen! It was beautiful! Hesitantly, she lifted a hand toward the closest tomes, only to freeze in realization, 'What am I doing? I'm not allowed to enjoy myself here. I should be focusing on how to change the prince's mind.'

"Is there a problem, My Lady?" Ino asked, her pretty blue eyes sparkling with concern.

The pinkette shook her head and wandered over to one of the large window sills to sit and watch the snow falling. Her spirits were only dampening with each passing moment.

That was when she suddenly recalled the one rule she'd been given upon her arrival. Do not go onto the third floor of the manor, no matter what.

'If I break this rule, will they punish me severely?' She glanced over to see Ino speaking with Sai, the duo glancing at her while doing so. It was obvious she was the topic of their discussion. There was only one way to find out how harshly she'd be reprimanded, and that was to give it a try.

So, for the remainder of the day, Sakura tried to sneak away from her handmaid but failed. Ino was fantastic at her job. In fact, she was the nicest girl the Haruno woman had ever met. If the circumstances were different, she'd consider herself blessed to have simply met someone so pleasant.

All Sakura wanted to do all day was cry or sleep, but she did neither. Surely no one would understand. Letting her emotions get the better of her would only cause trouble for the friendly staff of the manor.

Well after midnight that same night, Ino finally retired for the evening, having been successfully fooled into believing that her charge had fallen asleep. Sakura's limbs trembled weakly as she snuck out of her room and through the halls, quickly locating the staircase and beginning her ascent to the forbidden area. It'd been more than twenty-four hours since her last meal. If all else failed, her backup plan was to perish due to malnourishment. Anything would be better than leaving this manor a failure.

'Someone with tainted blood and no usefulness like me doesn't deserve to live if I can't perform the simple task of completing a contract marriage. All I've done my whole life is be a burden to my family.'

When the pinkette was younger, she held onto the belief that she was being mistreated; her abuse was an injustice. After a while, though, the awful things her siblings and the family staff said began to ring true in her ears. Sakura had been broken, brainwashed. She no longer had the will to fight for a brighter future for herself because she felt she didn't deserve it.

On the third floor, she slowly made her way down each hallway, peeking her head into the rooms she passed in search of the reason for its being banned. At the very end of the final hall, she found a thicker door with more ornamental decorations than the others.

'This has to be it. Is it the prince's personal quarters?'

When her hand met the doorknob, a terrible sound met her ears from within the room. It was like a feral beast growling. Fearful ice climbed her spine. The trembling of her limbs worsened.

Sakura swallowed, forcing herself to turn the handle. She entered the room, quickly closing the door behind her. Before she could even turn her back to it, a low voice met her ears, "To think you'd come to me willingly, trembling as a fawn before a pack of wolves."

The woman turned to witness a gruesome sight. In the large closet, with its double doors ajar, was a beautiful man. His wrists were cuffed to the back wall, and blood ran down his forearms from obvious attempts to break free.

What Sakura couldn't tear her gaze from was his eyes. They were bright red and glowing in the dark room. Cautiously, she approached, unable to find words as she studied the strange prince. His face was that of the gods. He had prominent cheekbones, a strong brow, and a proud, straight nose. His lips were full and elegant, and his jawline was sharp as a knife. Never in her life had she met someone so perfect.

"Does the mouse not have a tongue?"

'He keeps comparing me to small animals....'

Sakura bowed her head once standing close enough for the prince to clearly see her. Even she could hear the weakness in her voice, "Lord Uchiha, I've come to plead your reconsideration in the matter of our betrothal."

"Ah, yes. The cowardly prince rejected you firmly, didn't he?"

"...Are you not Prince Uchiha, Sir?" She was confused because this was obviously the second heir's quarters. No other room was as extravagant, and Ino and Sai both said the third floor was where their master resided.

"Do not compare me to such a feeble man, My Prey, or I'll make your demise that much more excruciating."

Sakura cringed as the hate in his eyes made the red seem that of blood, "I-I apologize. How should I address you, then?" Hope dared arise in her stomach because he spoke so plainly about killing her. Being wed to the prince was obviously a lost cause by this point.

"I have no name. No one has ever dared converse with me."

'I have no idea what's going on, but he seems like he'd be willing to fulfill my request, and that's all that matters to me.' So, the Haruno woman decided to cautiously try to appease him, "Would you like a name? What would you prefer to be called?"

The man's eyes narrowed, the corner of his lips turning into a sadistic smile, "Most refer to me as a curse or demon, so you may refer to me as Akuma."

"Lord Akuma-" "Just Akuma."

Warmth met Sakura's face, "A-Akuma, then. May I make a request?"

The cuffs rattled as the terrifying man struggled against them, rage contorting his features, "You dare ask something of me without first offering your respect?" His voice was much louder, causing a small, scared sound to leave the shaking woman's lips.

She risked meeting his glowing gaze, only to somehow understand that what Akuma wanted was complete submission. In an effort to please him, she came closer, "I was foolish. Please forgive me." She came to her hands and knees, bowing her head low enough that her forehead nearly touched the floor, "I'm not worthy of being in your presence, Akuma, but I beg of you to do what the prince would not."

It was silent for a long moment. Sakura didn't dare raise her head, though. She remained low and still until the man's voice came, much softer this time, "My presence is only felt while the moon is high. Even if I wished to wed a weak and pathetic thing such as you, the prince will prevent it in the daylight."

Tears welled in the woman's eyes as she shook her head, finally allowing her forehead to touch the ground. When she spoke, it was barely a whisper, and her voice was uneven with emotion, "You misunderstand. I no longer senselessly hope for marriage. It was made abundantly clear that that was not an option in Lord Uchiha's mind." Her hands clenched into trembling fists as she tried not to completely burst into tears.

"You wish for me to take your life?"

She made a sound of affirmation because she could no longer trust her voice.

"...Lift your head."

Sakura obeyed, thick tears rolling prettily down her pale face as she met Akuma's quizzical gaze. He seemed bewildered and did little to mask that, "The others begged for their lives, yet you appear, feeble and frail, to bow before me and plead for death. Indeed, you are intriguing."

'Why is he looking at me like that...?'

"Fetch the key to these shackles. It is in the desk."

Gasping in realization that she might actually be receiving her wish, Sakura stumbled to her feet and located the key in the middle drawer of the massive desk near the bed in an expensive-looking bag the color of sapphires. "Should I free you?"

"Call me by my name."

"R-Right, I'm sorry," Sakura stuttered fearfully at his overwhelming aura, "Akuma, should I unlock the cuffs?"

He nodded. He watched closely as she did.

The moment the final latch was loosened, Sakura found herself pinned to the floor with a hand tight around her throat. She sucked in a surprised breath but did nothing to defend herself. Instead, she stared wide-eyed and waited for Akuma to kill her.

This time, when he spoke, she glimpsed pearly-white teeth, sharper than a normal human's. His voice was snakelike and poisonous, "You weren't feigning your desires. You truly wish to die."

Sakura didn't move. She didn't look away or say anything. She just waited.

"Tell me your reason, and I will consider fulfilling your request."

The hand around her throat loosened so she could speak, and she did, albeit weakly. "I cannot leave here. There is nothing for me."

Akuma's brow furrowed in apparent anger, "Your family sent you purposefully to die?"

The woman couldn't bring herself to respond and simply tried to swallow the lump in her throat.

Bright red eyes surveyed her appearance, pulling back as though seeing her entirely for the first time, "What a miserable human."

Soft lips parted into a sneer, sharp teeth perfect and frightening in the dark room, "My Sacrifice, you're called Haruka?"

"No. My name is Sakura." 'Why does he need to know my name to kill me? I thought he was eager to do it!'

"Sakura," Akuma mused. His hand brushed the side of her face as he ceased viewing her body and returned his gaze to hers. The bloodlust he bled began to fade.

The tears in her eyes overflowed as she realized what was happening. "Akuma, please...." Her plight was ignored.

"As you've been sacrificed, I may do what I desire with your life." The man's thumb brushed her bottom lip, a low sound rumbling his chest, "I will not kill you this night, for there is something that urges me to devour you slowly." She was released, and the imposing man climbed off of her with an unreadable expression, "Perhaps the prince will accept your betrothal with my blessing. We shall see when morning comes."

Lady Haruno struggled to her feet, "B-But what if he doesn't? I-! I'll have to-!" Her eyes darted desperately around the room until they landed on a sharp letter opener. A quiet sound of distress passed her lips as she hurried over to the desk and grabbed it.

Before she could even bring it to her wrist, it was pried from her grasp and tossed away. Strong hands wrapped around her upper arms, and a blood-colored glare bored into hers. Akuma's voice was laced with murderous intent, "You dare conspire to take away what is mine?"

Sakura cried softly, his name on her lips.

He bellowed threateningly, "You belong to me now. Should I witness you mistreating my belonging once more, I can assure a fate worse than death awaits. Do you understand, Sacrifice?"

The door to the room suddenly busted open, revealing Sai, Yamamoto, and a handful of other manor staff. The former pulled his knife from its holster, "You curse! Step away from Lady Haruno!"

Ino cried out with tears in her eyes, "Lady Haruno, you must escape! He will kill you!"

Sakura sucked in a stunned breath when she was suddenly pulled into Akuma's arms, her face buried into his shirt. His chest vibrated as he warned the others, "This woman is mine. If one of you insects harms my sacrifice, I shall coat the floors of this manor with the blood of those you hold dear."

"Lady Haruno does not belong to you, Curse! Release her before we're forced to take her with force."

One moment the room was still, and the next, Sakura was shoved away from Akuma. Her back hit the edge of the desk hard, and she fell to her hands and knees with a cry of pain. Through winced eyes, she looked up in time to see Akuma skillfully disarm Yamamoto, steal the knife, and behead the man in a matter of seconds. Everyone froze in an instant, the only sound being the freshly murdered man's body hitting the ground.

Sakura's blood ran cold as she watched blood drip from Yamamoto's decapitated head onto the thick carpet. 'He wasn't lying earlier! He really is a demon!' Before Sakura could properly process the sickening fact, Akuma tossed the head aside and lunged at Sai, who shoved Ino and the others behind him while raising his blade.

"W-Wait!"

The dark-haired man with red eyes stopped in his tracks, turning his neck swiftly in her direction, "You dare give your master an order?"

Sakura tried to get to her feet, but a sharp pain ran up her back and brought her to her knees again. Gasping, she lifted a hand and bowed her head, "Please don't hurt anyone else! I-I'll submit to you. I'll do whatever you ask."

"Lady Haruno...." Sai breathed out in disbelief.

She lifted her head and met the butler's eye, "Please leave us."

'I can't bear to see another person brutally murdered like that! I won't be able to take it!'

They stared at one another for a few moments before Sai turned to look at his fallen comrade's body. Then, he nodded once, "Understood. We'll leave this room until dawn."

Once the door was closed, Akuma tossed the bloodied knife aside and leered down his nose at Sakura, "The helpless rabbit has a voice, after all." He nudged Yamamoto's head with his foot, smiling devilishly, "Are you flattered I'd spill blood in your honor? Don't be fooled. I did it to remind them of their place."

'What have I gotten myself into?' "Of course, Akuma."

"Rise and approach. I wish to look upon the face of my bounty."

The Haruno woman tried to get to her feet again, this time succeeding regardless of the pain because she feared what the man would do if she disobeyed. Once she was close enough, he grasped her jaw and firmly lifted her chin to search her face closely. He mused as though speaking to a pet, "I wonder if I'll grow fond of you, Sacrifice. It's in your interest to please me."

Icy pain climbed Sakura's spine from the point of impact from earlier to her head. Akuma's smirk fell, and he said something, but she couldn't understand it. Then, her legs gave out from under her. She was unconscious before she could even hit the ground.

A few magical girls in PMMM's art style.

SOOOO a while back, after seeing those "my character in various different art styles" template, I got this idea to do something similar where I'd draw a magical girl, but in various different styles of other magical girl series.

Originally it was gonna be one single magical girl in various different art styles, but I kinda decided to instead do many different magical girls in a single magical girl anime art style for one part, then change it to another magical girl anime art style for a second part, etc.

I'm thinking after I'm done with everything, I'll then organize a single character into their own picture and show them in different art styles, like the original art template (I hope I explained this well lol.)

Anyways I decided to start off with PMMM's art style since I think it's the easiest to draw for me. I'll do parts with other magical girls in PMMM's art style soon, and then move onto another magical girl art style after that.

I'm just imagining an Encanto AU where everything is still the same but Julieta is the one who can see the future and Bruno heals with food.

Just picture it with me.

Julieta's gift of healing with food kind of made her into the ultimate powerhouse maternal figure. Especially in most latino/hispanic cultures (from what I have observed) it is considered a "woman's role" to take care of others with things like cooking and repairing what has been broken.

Now imagine a Julieta, who is still a maternal powerhouse but instead of healing she tries to use her visions as cautionary tales or teaching lessons.

The village is still scared of her, still believes she is a source of bad luck.

But Julieta still has Augustin, who didn't believe she made the future happen. He was accident prone before meeting her. Just now she uses quick glimps to warn Augustin of his potential injuries and advise her brother how much extra food he'll need to make for her accident prone husband. They both chase Agustin around with the magic food She still gives birth to her three daughters who she loves more than anything. She is still the triplet that speaks against her mother to defend her family.

Bruno who is now the golden child of the triplets, and the most useful, is still socially awkward, and superstitious. His sister's can tell when the food choice is something on the saltier side. While his gift is useful he's only really approached for healing food and he's been doing that since he was five. He's overworked and is constantly in the kitchen. Making food in case of emergencies. He's still the rat man with rat children.

Mirabel's failed gift ceremony happens and Alma begs Julieta to look into the future. After comforting her daughter to sleep Julieta walks down into her vision cave where she sits on the end of a peninsula of an underground lake.

In her hands sits a blue tablet showing her youngest daughter. One side has casita whole, the other full of cracks.

Julieta is terrified for her daughter, Alma will demand to see the vision. Julieta knows from experince that once Alma knows it will end horribly for her daughter.

Julieta will do anything for her daughters.

Augustin goes to find his wife but only finds an empty cave and a smashed vision.

For 10 years no one talks about Julieta. Her door has stopped glowing. Augustin took the spare bed in Bruno's room, the two growing closer as Bruno helps with raising the girls. It's Bruno's involvement with helping raise his nieces that Augustin has not followed through on his threat to take his daughters and leave Casa Madrigal.

Augustin is more quick tempered with Alma, more ready to defend his daughters.

Isabela resents Mirabel even more, blaming her for their mother's disappearance.

Luisa doesn't blame Mirabel, if anything she's probably more protective of her than in canon. She does hold a secret resentment towards the town though. She believes they pushed her mother over the edge. Especially when she hears what people whisper from Dolores and by her own ears.

Well one of those girls had to be bad luck like their mother.

Julieta should've stopped after one. She got lucky to have a perfect daughter like Isabela.

Yeah she should've counted her graces that only one is a fuck up like her.

Mirabel wished someone talked about Julieta Madrigal. Actually talked about her, what she was like, how she looked, how she spunded. Did she prefer sweet or spicy foods? What was her favorite shade of blue? Did she love her youngest daughter? Mirabel has no memories, or very vauge ones. She has no idea who her mother truly is. The only comfort Mirable can bring herself is that sometimes it feels like Casita is trying to minic what she thinks is Julieta's voice. Giving Mirabel words of encouragement, praise, and love. Despite this attempt Mirabel might hate herself a little bit more, after all she was such an embarrassment that she drove her mother away.

Julieta does a better job at hidding in the walls than Bruno. She sneaks out a back door from her place in the walls before anyone wakes up and returns when she knows Dolores goes to sleep. She adds to her brother's herbs that she has spent all day collecting. Then wonders upstairs. Checking on each of her daughters, leaving them gifts before going back into the walls.

Julieta patches the walls for years. Taking notice of the pattern of when Mirabel is stressed or in pain the cracks show more. Casita has more than once woken Julieta up to one of her daughters having a nightmare. No matter how old they are she holds them close singing them back to a peaceful sleep.

Her brother's rats keep her entertained, always performing Bruno's latest telenovela for her. They help her sometimes by bringing things when she mistimed her coming back and can't make much noise in the walls.

She never expected one of her visions to be something they would bring her. Or that she would be reunited with her youngest daughter five minutes later after ten long years.

Bruno's rats led Julieta to one of the holes in the floor.

Julieta let out a gasp when she saw who was dangling by one of the floorboards. "Mija!"

Mirabel stared at a face simliar to her own as she gets pulled up. "Mama?"

Julieta checks her daughter over for injuries before pulling her into a tight hug. "Mi amor what are you doing back here?"

"What am I? What are you?" Mirabel spluttered, just examining her missing mother who was apparently never actually left! Mirabel glances over, loosing steam as she takes in all the repaired cracks. "Have you been patching these?"

Julieta sadly traces over the cracks, they match so well with her vision. "No matter how much I love our family, I won't let even them hurt my daughters. When Mama wanted that vision of you ten years ago I knew I could never let her see it. Even if there was a possibility of it turning out well she would only believe the worst outcome. Just like she and the village believe of me."

I need to get me a partner like the Haddock men.

Stoick the Vast, that man, that chief of vikings, sees his wife and mother of his child after 20 years of separation. He finds out that she isn't dead like he believed, eaten by a dragon, she has been living and rescuing dragons. Who keep in mind was his enemy and the bane of his existence until 5 years before this moment when their son changed his mind.

Stoick has been kinda through it too. He has been leading a village, raising Hiccup on his own, and lets be honest Hiccup was definitely not an easy kid to raise, and combating the constant dragon raids on their home. All the while he has mourned the loss of his wife who should have been one of, if not his biggest, supports.

Realistically Stoick should have remarried if nothing more than an agreed marriage of convenience, but no he's loyal to the memory of his wife. He even has part of her armor made into a helmet to keep her close.

And after 20 years, after tracking down his wayward son, she's standing before him. Stoick is stunned, because it's a memory come back to life.

Valka is the one shouting begging and fully expecting Stoick to be angry, and to a degree he has a right to be. If this was five years earlier, back when Stoick confronted Hiccup after the disaster with the Monstrous Nightmare he probably would have shouted, probably would have let his anger take over.

But it's been five years since that fight with Hiccup. Stoick has learned, has grown, he has ridden and trained two of his own dragons. He has done what Valka thought he never could.

And you know what the first thing Stoick says to her after 20 years? "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you."

Oh gods Hiccup got his romantic nature from Stoick!

Now onto the younger Haddock.

Hiccup and Astrid are a better version of Stoick and Valka because they leaned to do the one thing that separated the older Haddock couple.

They learned to communicate.

Now this wasn't an easy road as we've been shown to us throughout the series. They have kept secrets from one another that has blown up in their faces. Hell their first lesson in communicating happened because Hiccup kidnapped Astrid.

But they are so much better for learning this lesson early. They are each other's biggest supports, if one is down to do some shit the other ain't that far behind. They don't hold each other back, if one fails the other one is right there by their side.

Their love is a nartual thing that is as easy and hard as breathing.

It's all so beautiful! The Haddock men are such romantics!

Man I'm replaying Awakening again and just like the chrobin family route is some straight up telenovela shit. Like I expect Bruno Madrigal's rats to be performing.

All the drama chrobin plot adds to an already dramatic plot.

On a basic level we got tradgey, zombies, betrayal, attempted/actual murder, talks of genocide, suicide, religious cults, bodies being possessed by a god, and don't forget those time traveling babies. Oh and got some romance drama happening on the side too.

We got some funny moments from chrobins supports and then Awakening just lets us wreck this poor man. Loyal to a fault Chrom is betrayed by his wife, queen, and mother of his children. He loved his family more than anything and it got him killed.

Poor Lucina's life just becomes more chaotic too when Robin is her mother. Lucina went back in time fully ready to avenge her father and strike down his killer. Then she finds out it's her mother. Her mother, who Lucina believed to be dead but no really knew what happened to her, they just found Chrom's body. Her mother was the new host to Grima. The same woman who was the Queen of Ylisse, who gave birth to her, and supposedly loved her family destroyed Lucina's life.

Lucina holds her promise, she will avenge her father, and Robin stands there ready to let Lucina drive Falchion into her heart. But Lucina can't make herself do it. She is still that little girl that just wants her parents and at least this version of her mother loves her.

This doesn't even add Morgan into the equation either. Lucina finds her brother again after who knows how long, and he's got amnesia. The boy who has been missing or the traitor who served Grima now has amnesia and he looks at his family with stars in his eyes.

That poor boy must be so confused too. It's highly suspected that Robin gave birth to Morgan shortly before she became Grima or she was still pregnant when the Fell dragon took over. So Grima as his mother is all Morgan knows, and let's be honest lowkey wasn't the best mom. Robin's gentler ways towards her children probably gave Morgan whiplash. It's also hinted that this is the first time Morgan got to really bond with Lucina too.

All that happens an you're gonna tell me that isn't a plot to a telenovela? Someone call Bruno so we can watch the rat version of Fire Emblem Awakening.

I'm tired of seeing that trope of Fugaku despising Sakura and trying to break up her relationship with Sasuke.

New trope! Fugaku likes Sakura better than his own sons sometimes and was rooting silently for sasusaku to happen. They are the platonic grumpy and sunshine trope.

Not one Uchiha knows how she did it, but Sakura won over her future father in-law to the point where he'll ask Sasuke if he's bringing Sakura to Clan gatherings. And this was before they got together.

Itachi and Sasuke are both impressed and flabbergasted. That infamous Uchiha stoicism broke the first time they saw little genin Sakura talk Fugaku's ear off. Their father did not react how they expected at all. All Fugaku did was nod and added his own comment every now and again.

During Sakura's training with Tsunade when Fugaku had to make reports to the Hokage he would visit Sakura. And when Sakura was stuck on something she would visit Fugaku if he had time. His quietness while she talked out her problems helps her think and 9 times out of 10 she solves it herself. Fugaku may have also slipped one or two older Uchiha medical/posion techniques in with her notes when she wasn't looking. He almost got caught when Kaname gave him that old scroll to give to Sakura.

When sasusaku did happen and they were getting close to marrying age Fugaku started hinting that Sasuke should teach Sakura the fireball jutsu. Sasuke was surprised his dad didn't push it earlier.

Unknown to him Fugaku knew Sasuke would teach Sakura that jutsu since their genin days. It was just after the Forest of Death and Orochimaru's attack on team 7. Fugaku was pissed that the snake man bit his son and infected him with the curse seal.

Anbu and the Uchiha Police were working together on this, after all Orochimaru not only made it into the village but he attacked rookie genins, one of them being an Uchiha.

Fugaku had gotten statements from Naruto and Sasuke. Both told him of Orochimaru's attack, how he sent a giant snake after Naruto and tried to impersonate the boy, the bite on Sasuke, and the group of Sound ninja sent after he finished his attack.

Naruto knew nothing of that last part, Sasuke began to shake every time he thought about it, a deep shame glazing over his eyes.

This lead to Fugaku talking to Asuma's and Gai's teams who had witnessed bits and pieces of the fight from the three Sound nin.

It didn't take long for Fugaku to realize he needed to talk to Sakura, the only one who was present and conscious from start to finish.

To be honest Fugaku didn't think much of the girl at first. She was civilian born, and a fangirl of his son. She won't amount to much unlike her teammates. She probably would retire early when she became a mother or go into the reserves.

Sasuke was at the station dropping something off from Mikoto when Sakura came in. And oh, Fugaku knew that soft look Sasuke was sending her. The statements of Sakura calming him down in the Forest began to make sense. His eyes fixtated on the girl's newly cut hair. The girl had cut it to free herself and defend her teammates.

Sakura spotted Sasuke when directed towards Fugaku. And Fugaku knew that look too, Sakura was afraid of his son.

Before the two teammates could say something to one another Fugaku called for the girl's attention. "Haruno, let's get your statement."

Sakura nodded and followed Fugaku to an empty room with a desk and two chairs.

"Tell me what happened."

Sakura retold the tale filling in the gaps of her dragging the boys away, and trying to cool down Sasuke's fever. Her setting up traps, and how the fight with the Sound nin went.

"Sasuke-kun woke up then, but. . ." Sakura began to shake. "The power that seal gave him was monstrous."

Fugaku's eyes narrowed. "You think my son is a monster?"

Sakura's head shot up. "No-"

"He defended you did he not when he woke up?"

"Yes but-"

"You're afraid of him."

Sakura slammed her fist on the table, Fugaku pretended not to notice the small cracks.

"That wasn't Sasuke-kun! That seal Orochimaru forced on him was poisoning him! He's not bloodthirsty, and he was shaking when the seal receded!" Sakura took a breath. "I hugged him, begging him to stop, and that's when the seal released him."

That's the moment Fugaku knew Sakura would one day join the clan, after all no one loved like the Uchiha. They are sometimes born with a different family name though.
