17, 19 and 4 for the salty ask game
4) Anything with Armand that leaves out Marius makes me sad...what if my old man is lonely....And I would say ships with Armand outside of Marius are some of the most popular in the fandom as a whole, haha.
17) Begging Anne to have just written a separate series or two about aliens and angels, would've had blood canticle focus on Quinn and Mona being incorporated into vampire society instead of yet another new love affair for Lestat.
19) Non-petty answer: people not reading the books and people misrepresenting the books in the meta. I started looking at meta posts after I read QOTD while I was still working through the rest and I would see things mentioned in meta and then eventually get to the book they were talking about and find out it just...never happened, or was taken seriously out of context.
Petty answer: Absolute refusal to take into account historical context or the role of kink and fantasy in regards to some characters, especially Marius, and people being hypocrites by glossing over what their faves have done while expecting other people (again, especially fans of Marius) to constantly talk about his flaws.

3, 9, 11, 13?
Oh boy lots of words incoming
3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
- a few times actually, but because said opinions happened to be either extremely ableist, transphobia, proshipper rhetoric, or infantilization of trauma victims, etc, things that are reflections of poor character irl passed as "opinions" that I'd much rather not see on my dash or associate with. Ship discourse and or ooc characterizations and the like for fictional media are things I usually just mute or ignore otherwise
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
- a lot of my choices are the usual common ones for the reasons you'd expect, though most of them I can respect as nuanced/complex characters and write/portray them as such. The main ones I dislike being Zote, the White Lady, the Pale King, Soul Master, and the Radiance.
Particularly the Radiance and White Lady. Zote is annoying, Soul Master is a haughty immortality seeking asshole that throws others under the wheels for his own gain, the Pale King is an in-denial deity seeking any methods to purpetuate his kingdom at the ultimate cost of his own kids, etc (at least he had regrets though? I'm not about to defend him though tbh)
But the White Lady and Radiance? Despicable. Both more than capable and willing to throw their own "children" into eternal suffering and hell for the sake of their wars. Radiance infecting and wiping out the entire populace of Hallownest over her fury towards another god for "stealing" from her. Burning everything to the ground and leaving nothing but sickness and corpses. No matter how justified her anger or fear of being forgotten could be, she has laid waste to the entirety of a population in the name of her rage and slaughtered countless mortals caught in the crossfire of a godly spat
The White Lady? Bitch. Biggest bitch. How her responsibility in things is often overlooked in fandom portrayals is astounding to me because, as the only one of the three gods involved in this shitfest that you actually can just talk to ingame, her complete and utter dismissal towards her remaining spawn, from her cold indifference towards Hollow as a "tarnished impure failure" to her insistence that Ghost offer themselves up as sacrifice for a kingdom that they owe nothing to, that left them to die, is vile on a level that makes me despise her the most out of most of these choices here. She then hides away to assuage her own guilt and leaves the rest of the kingdom she claimed to care for to burn, speaking to her last remaining child as an object and pleading with them to lie their neck over the guillotine for a kingdom long since burned to ashes while she does nothing but hide away
I'd fist fight her in a McDonald's parking lot at 2 am and win
11. Is there an unpopular character that you like that the fandom doesn't? Why?
- I'm a pretty basic bitch in that most of the characters I like/dislike are also popularly liked/disliked in most fandom spaces but uhhh if I had to pick I'd say Unn. She's kinda just vibing under her lake separate from all the other godly bullshit going on and yeah she's not really trying hard to keep her own land but she's also kinda causing way less problems for everyone else unlike some aforementioned gods in this salt post. Also Greenpath as a nature realm is THRIVING compared to the rest of the burnt up and abandoned husk that is Hallownest so...Unn for the win lol
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
- Some people spend an excessive amount of time gatekeeping ships and characterizations and it's just..not that serious guys xD
Granted it's not a HUGE problem, but if I had a dollar for every time I have someone showing up in mine, or other ppl's, inboxes to inform them about how their characterization/au/ship for XYZ character is "incorrect" and lives rent free in their mind in a negative way to the point where they just HAVE to tell you how bad it is, I'd have a hefty pocket full of dollars right now. Other people having harmless headcanons and ships shouldn't consume so much of your time and energy to the point where you NEED to hit up the inboxes of Pale King stans or Quirrelnet/Pale Nightmare/oc x canon shippers to needlessly shit on their day and tell them they should stop liking things because you can't use your mute and block functions to curate your own space accordingly. Log off and go outside and breathe some fresh air, I'm begging you. You can not like or even HATE certain interpretations of characters, you can rant about them in your own spaces, whatever. But don't come into MY inbox telling me not to ship oc x canon because you hate women and can't stand seeing your fave fictional blorbo with zero canon dialogue or relationship content shipped with a girl. I promise you I don't give a shit xD

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
(for mdzs, thanks!)
I wouldn't say the fandom totally ignores them (I've certainly done my part for the opposite), but my god, you'd never know that the Nies were absolutely vital to the present-day version of the plot by the official merchandise. Even though I stand by my belief that Mo Xuanyu convinced Nie Huaisang to help him instead of the other way around, the fact remains that without Nie Huaisang's love for his brother and desire to get revenge, none of the non-flashback parts would have happened. And he has... what, one standee (donghua) and one fan (cql)? And Mingjue has one little metal Baxia (cql)? Stop ignoring them!

19 and 24 for the salty asks meme
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom? -- I was going to get more specific answers but then I realized the unifying pattern is people making up "teams" (be it Greens vs Blacks or Danerys vs Sansa or Sansa vs Arya or "key 5" vs "minor" characters or Targs vs the rest of the world... I could go on) and using that narrow lens to engage with canon AND with the fandom. In the books where the story is told through multiple points of view, often flipping over the interpretation of the character you got from an outside perspective, building their arc not just as a series of plot advancing events but as an actual human experience. Where you get a whole ass volume (my favorite btw) centered on "secondary" characters. There are people who see this and decide to engage with it in the most black and white, middle school feud way. And if it was just that... I mean, you do you. But then they act aggressive af with anyone who doesn't share their very specific views and attitudes. That's something that gets my goat every time and definitely not my idea of a fun fandom experience.
24. Would you recommend XXX to a friend? Why or why not? -- depends on the friend lol. But in general I think ASoIaF is great genre lit - otherwise I wouldn't still be here after all these years - so it's not something that makes me go "I like it but it's a guilty pleasure" or "it's not for everyone", it's definitely accessible. My only caveat would be that you should have at least a passing interest in fantasy or historical fiction to get hooked (it was the latter for me), like if you're a strict contemporary litfic reader some parts of the worldbuilding might be hard to get into before you get used to it.

6, 13, 16! You can choose between Sonic or Steven Universe :P
I think I'll stick to Sonic, since I haven't watched Steven Universe in a long while...
6) Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
... Not really. I'm more turned off of shipping thanks to fandom than anything else.
13) Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
Well, Rouge I don't consider a sex-appeal character... (Gets bricked)
I'm very worried about how... against the characters the fandoms in general have become. What with the lack of proper reminiscing of what happens in canon, the ignorance of some fans with character traits that they essentially make up in their heads, the need to make ocs then pretend the OCs they made up in their heads are the actual Sonic characters... It just feels like I'm seeing the fandom huffing whatever substance they find off the streets.
16) If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
If there's one thing I would change, it's SatAM. I would force it to be more like the Games at the time, and reduce the non-game characters to just one offs.

4, 22, and 23? For the salty ask meme?
Thanks for reminding me we have Les Mis in common as a fandom, @fleurdufeu!  The Star Wars answers would have been VERY boring.
[If anyone else would like to send asks, here’s the meme!]
General disclaimer: This is a salty ask meme. These are just my personal opinions; I am making no judgements here at all, and I will defend to the death anyone’s right to like something I don’t. So don’t get on my back about it, please. Thank you.
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
I DO, actually.  I’m really not fond of Jehan x Montparnasse.  Ideologically in canon era I can’t see it coming close to working.  And the way it’s been written in modern era generally doesn’t interest me?  IDK.  Just not my cup of tea.
22. Popular character you hate?
*whispers loudly* Fanon!Grantaire.  NOT A FAN.  He seems to be some strangely bastardized version of Feuilly?  His original characterization is interesting!  And if you want to write about Feuilly, WRITE ABOUT FEUILLY.  This weird hybrid character who is neither one nor the other just... IDK.  I don’t really understand where he came from and he doesn’t really interest me.  (And look, ngl, I wrote him a fair amount myself in my early days in the fandom.  I get it.  I really do.  But my tastes and characterizations have changed dramatically since then, so...  Let Grantaire be his actual garbage man self 2k22?)
23. Unpopular character you love?
I think this might be less true than it used to be (about this character being unpopular) but FEUILLY FEUILLY FEUILLY.  I LOVE HIM TO PIECES.  And it was VERY common for him to get literally just... left out.  It was the epitome of the “I love all the amis equally: *lists off Enjolras, Combeferre, Courfeyrac, Joly, Bossuet, Grantaire, Bahorel, Jehan, Marius, Eponine, Cosette, Gavroche, stares at smudge on hand* Mille feuille?”  He got left out of SO MANY memes, SO MANY “les amis as”, SO MANY THINGS.  And when he DID get included, he was a classist NIGHTMARE.  Drinking, smoking, swearing, crude “no homo but I’ll suck your dick” nonsense.  And that’s just... NOT who he is.  As I said, fandom on the whole has gotten MUCH BETTER about this, but I REMEMBER, OK??  I remember.  :(

For the salt asks: 5 and 27?
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
I often multi-ship, though I am selective. I would have been okay with all the short-lived rival pairings at the end of ML season 3, but for two things:
Luka's white-knighting made me relive me of some old personal trauma from my teenage years and then immediately receiving:
intensely negative hate anons
attacks from fellow fans in multiple Discords
and seeing screed from old fandom friends about how you were an absolute piece of shit if you weren't 100% on board with Lukanette when it canonically happened.
I took a fair amount of time to process my feelings in my own way, but even in my own writing (ie, the way I was processing it), I was constantly receiving negative comments or hate anons if I was perceived to not being "nice enough" to Luka. Even in a pre-end of S3 era story where it was a Love Square public reveal scenario.
If you've wondered why I have way too many WIPs, people going out of their way to criticize me for my end of S3 feelings is basically the root cause of half of that timeframe's works.
I've still not decided how much of those I will bother to wrap up.
27. Least shippable character?
Right now? Gabriel Agreste. I 110% do not want to see the (fictional) man happy, given all that he has done or was willing to do in our etch-a-sketch, end-of-the-world scenarios.
That is not a good way of loving anyone, and shouldn't be awarded with affection.
(2nd Place is Bob Roth, who falls into the same vein, and proves even awful people do often find someone somehow...unless my "all the kids of Gabriel's secret club are Senti" theory proves out.)
Ask me another!

20.What is the purest ship in the fandom?
The idea of purity =/= The Witcher is counter intuitive I think, but just first thought would be Eskel/Geralt. Their relationship would stem from a place of comfort amidst trauma and pain, with a total acceptance of who each other is. I also have an idea of Eskel being pure, probably because he isn't discussed as in depth in the books and is such a gentleman with Triss.
21.What are your thoughts on crack ships?
All for it if characterization is in place! I've read some crack ships that seemed implausible, but I was enjoying the read by the end!
23.Unpopular character you love?
TWN!Istredd! He is everything the book Istredd isn't, plus he's a snack, so yeah - 5/5 to Mr. Steal Your Girl. 🤣❤️

Salty ask game: What OTP do you just not get?
Hello! Thank you for the ask! 1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get? Honestly? For miraculous it's Adrigami, XYxLuka, and Maribat (though I guess that's its own separate fandom now, huh?). For Ben 10 it's honestly BenxJulie. I guess it's not entirely accurate with Adrigami though... I do get why people like them together but I... I just don't get why I can't see it? I have tried but I just... I just can't. I really want to, too. But no matter how hard I try I only see them as friends. XY and Luka I just don't see it. I also don't really like it. There's just not much there to go off of... Maribat has never made any sense to me and it never will. I will never get it. From my perspective I think Damian and Marinette would nearly kill each other before ever becoming even friends. They have such constrasting view points and huge amounts of stubbornness that spells disaster. That and Damian pretty much hates people so Marinette would be screwed from the beginning. As for BenxJulie... I just don't like them together that much. Sure, they have some cute moments but I find Julie to be kind of a bad girlfriend. I also found it increasingly annoying that Gwen was always taking Julie's side in Ben and Julie's arguements. Freaking 1. it's not your freaking relationship and none of your freaking business. 2. Please stop giving your cousin hell for freaking putting saving lives over his girlfriend, OMD. You know the reason and you get mad at him otherwise when he decides to goof off instead of playing hero. You should be giving him advice like breaking up with her so he stops screwing them both over. When Ben and her got together it kind of ruined her character for me much like the whole Kai and Ben thing that, at least most people agree on, sucked. It also kind of ruined Gwen a bit for me. I am also of the opinion Ben feels very much like Sonic where he feels like he just doesn't need anybody. I think he's better single. But if you like these ships you are allowed to and I see no real harm in them (as long as your being respectful of others and not forcing it down peoples' throats). I love seeing the content made for these couples even if I can't personally enjoy it like the people who ship them. I don't hate these ships either, I just can't enjoy them. But I'm glad others can and who knows... maybe one day I will change my mind... Thanks for the ask and I hope you're having a wonderful day, night, evening, afternoon, or whatever time it is where you are. <3 Salty Asks Here

JSMN SALTY ASKS: 4, 7, 19, AND 27. I'm greedy.
MORE ASKS! THANK YOU FRIEND
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
Emma Pole/Stephen Black. They just feel like brother and sister to me, and I can't cope. Stephen/Flora? Stephen/Segundus? Heck, even Stephen/The Gentleman could all work (do I need to maybe write this? I might). But Stephen/Emma is just a huge nope for some reason. Maybe suffering through something traumatic together with a male person is too familiar to my childhood being a twin to a boy in a traumatic situation? Probably.
7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*
I can't even believe I'm going to say this in tumblr public, and "can't stand" is the wrong word for this feeling, but lets just say that I feel the same way about Aziraphale/Crowley as you do about Johnsquared. I am just DONE. I am hoping the next season gets me interested in shipping them again, but I feel nothing. I admire some good fanart when it goes by, and will reblog it, but Ineffable Husbands just doesn't turn my crank anymore.
(I'm sorry, I still love Johnsquared).
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
I'll do em all just to be extra salty!
Good Omens - How petty and argumentative people got about top!aziraphale vs bottom!aziraphale, or whether the ineffable husbands are gay or ace or allosexual or agender or what have you. Let it go people. It's a cute, goofy show about heaven and hell, who cares who tops who? They can be whatever each fan wants them to be.
The Terror - Also silly drama? Outside of that, which hasn't been too bad, I kinda hate how bleak and horrible The Terror is, and how much I love it body and soul. It's hard on fans, when the canon material could send you to therapy.
Tintin - Nothing wrong with Tintin fandom. Just the antis. Tintin forever. Haddotin forever.
The Hobbit - The movies were too long and felt tacked on at certain points. I am fully aware of the story and writing flaws of those films, but I love them and I don't care. Also, I have never seen so many comments on my fics gently correcting my plot choices. WHYYYY What is up with that? Anyway, Bagginshield forever.
OFMD - too new to have anything to hate. Everyone is in love and happy.
JSAMN - Nothing at all wrong with this fandom. Zero to hate.
27. Least shippable character?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and make Norrell the third least shippable character. I ship him and childermass pretty hard, but I'm not sure how much that's sexual, and lets be honest, they have lots of issues. He seems resistant to human contact, is a raving introvert and would probs rather wack off to books than people. So yeah, he's hard to ship. Do I still do it? Yes of course. He's too cute not to.

what otps in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
spideypool is the big one, and why it's, like, the most popular spidey ship is definitely something i'll never understand. peter and wade are not at all compatible personality-wise; in fact, wade is pretty much antithetical to a lot of what peter stands for? also wade harrasses him on the regular. it's a no from me.
there are a lot of mcu ships that fall into this category for me, too; things like ironstrange and thorquill that basically amount to "two dudes stood there and talked for a second, and were vaguely antagonistic toward each other" that people somehow want to interpret as any modicum of chemistry, like. ok.
2. are there any popular fandom otps that you only brotp?
i don't get stucky in any universe as a romantic pairing. in mcu it's not a romance. mcu stans bringing it to the comics as a romance is definitely weird (and also shows that they don't read comics).
22. popular character you hate?
wade wilson aka deadpool lol i'm sorry, but he's so fucking tryhard and annoying
27. least shippable character?
idk, probably someone like galactus or one of the cosmic abstracts? lmao i haven't really thought this through
also mcu thanos; i specify mcu because comics thanos is horny on main

*14 not 13. But for 13 Lurien?
13. Unpopular opinion about X character
- I don't have many opinions on Lurien since I didn't really get into him as a character, there's really not that much canon content for him. My unpopular opinion though is that he's far too blindly loyal to the royalty of Hallownest. I think his utter devotion to a clearly failed plan, especially after the Knight arrives to break the seals, is annoying because like, Hallownest has already fallen and the king and Queen are gone to their separate realms of denial (technically PK died but still lol) there's literally no point for this man to still be going so hard for royalty that has pretty much left them all to die in a kingdom that's already long dead. I get that he's the watcher of the city and has to have some level of devotion to it and it's rulers but c'mon. Idk I just don't vibe with characters that devote their existences to worshipping the ruling class of society and especially not when that ruling class is at best morally grey characters and at worst horrible people that run away from the mess they perpetuated (looking at you White Lady. Fight me)
And this post right here is how I completely piss off the Lurien side of the fanbase lol

Hi, hope you're having a nice day!
9 and 17 for the Salty opinions ask? 17 can be anything you'd change regarding Jason
9) I don't really dislike characters themselves, but I'll say fandom soured me on some characters by constantly comparing them to Jason. I also never really could get interested in the later Robins, but I don't dislike them.
17) I already gave one answer for this so I'll do a more specific one: completely rewrite his appearance in Urban Legends. He shouldn't be roughing up random people on the street for information, he should be smarter than depicted. The kid would have to go into foster care either way given that the alternative would be...imprisoning his father instead of killing him, since it's not like a no-kill hero would've just let the Dad go, so lose those lines implying Jason is directly at fault for that. If you Must have a moral conflict around killing, have it be around the kid both being relieved his father won't hurt him anymore and deeply grieved by the loss.

7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
getting ready to get myself shot here, but pretty much all three of the mxtx main pairs. in fact, a lot of the writer-approved pairings usually end up with fandoms that drive me away, like over in miraculous or star vs., so many comics ones.... i think the only absolutely-no-fooling-canon-pairings whose fans i survived were stevonnie (steven universe), hanleia (star wars), and lumity/raeda (owl house).
19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...
(sigh) i might as well admit it. mdzs fandom finally made me see some appeal in the concept of omegaverse. pretty much only in this one fandom though. i still get extremely weirded out anywhere else and i have no idea why.
23. ship you've unwillingly come around to
you're not gonna believe me and i don't blame you, but sangyao. i was ALL prepared to just totally hate jin guangyao from what i'd seen online, and then... oh no...

Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
(For the salty ask thing)
ok I think the dust has settled enough to come out with the controversial fact that, before the show, one of the minor asoiaf crackpairings I dabbled in was j*nsa, on the basis of "wouldn't it be fun to put them in this spicy crossofire of oedipal projection" what with them being Ned and Cat's mini-mes appearance wise. Not that I ever thought it had any canon basis (that's the fun of crackshipping). I was genuinely surprised when shippers for the pairing actually started to appear (I had stopped watching the show by that point), and making arguments for the ship's actual canonicity; and then the great j*nsa vs j*nerys war happened and I watched it from afar and it honestly killed any residual interest I might have had in the concept of those characters together because man. We as a fandom are still suffering the consequences of that feud, like I think it reverberates on hotd stan wars like Rhaenyra vs Alicent, and it's so tiresome, and annoying, so it sucks all the fun out of the experience for me.

7 and 15 for the salty ask meme?
Because I know you're one of the few people who would appreciate it... YOU'RE getting GYADL for anything fandom specific. ;D
[If anyone else would like to send asks, here’s the meme!]
General disclaimer: This is a salty ask meme. These are just my personal opinions; I am making no judgements here at all, and I will defend to the death anyone’s right to like something I don’t. So don’t get on my back about it, please. Thank you.
7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*
I think "can't stand" might be a little strong? But I used to be BIG into friends-to-lovers. And now... not so much? And I think that's a facet of me becoming more comfortable in my own skin as someone who's aro/ace. So, the whole friends-to-lovers thing just... doesn't hit the same way anymore? I actually wrote up quite a bit about it over here, if you're interested. ^_^
15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?
I LOVE IT. OMG I LOVE IT SO MUCH. TT^TT And that IN AND OF ITSELF is an unpopular opinion. No other c-drama has hit exactly the way this one has for me. I'm TRANSLATING the NOVEL with a bare 75ish hanzi to my name and virtually NO knowledge of grammar because I'm that desperate for more of the story. ...I STARTED LEARNING MANDARIN JUST TO MAKE THE TRANSLATION EASIER. O_o;;; (Of course, now I'm learning for other reasons, too, but that was the original thing that pushed me over the edge--wanting to read the GYADL novel.)
So, yeah. The sheer fact alone that I love this show AND that I love it BECAUSE of all the pain is probably my most unpopular opinion of all about it. XD
Side unpopular opinion about Guardian, because I can't resist, and it's in a similar vein: ...I actually don't hate the drama ending. ^_~
