Basilica di San Clemente al Laterano in Rome, Italy
Under the basilica that stems from the 12th century, there are two more layers that you are able to visit: a basilica from the 4th century and a mithraeum from the 2th century.
In my opinion the most interesting church Rome has to offer.

Christmas on the beach
We left Temecula Saturday morning but before returning to L.A., we swung by San Clemente, where, but for the Christmas tree at the end of the pier, a Northerner might never have suspected it was Christmas Eve eve (or December, for that matter).
After walking the pier, we sat at an outdoor table at Fisherman's Restaurant, drank Bloody Marys and watched the waves roll in.
As you more seasoned readers may recall, San Clemente was where Richard Nixon established the "Western White House." La Casa Pacifica ("the house of peace") is a classic California beachfront mansion that overlooks the ocean from is perch on a bluff.
It was considered a "hideaway" in the days when the town described as "sleepy". Surely remnants of those days remain, but I didn't see any; no Nixonburgers on the menu.

[Oceanside, it ends the ride with San Clemente coming up. Those Sunday desperados slip by and cruise with a dry back.]
