[JC learns to play an instrument to impress NHS]
SangCheng | Mo Dao Zu Shi Modern AU 26-12-2021
[#sangcheng, modern, fluff]
jiang cheng wasn't really the artist of the house, wwx was. He was more into swimming than learning about painting and music. Sure, he could enjoy both these things, he was simply not skilled at them (or at least didn't believe he was) Still, he forced his ass to learn how to play the guqin.
all because he wanted to impress Nie Huaisang.
He knew the young man was really into a different kind of art and was himself skilled in many things. He wanted to be good at one of these things too.
He knew that even if nhs came to his competition, it was probably not as exciting as when he would bring him to see some art exposition or a concert.
He thought that if he could learn that he could impress him.
it took him a lot of courage to ask lxc if he could help him learn the guqin. He was even willing to pay for the time spent on teaching him!
lxc was taken aback but quickly agreed, happy to see someone so eager to learn. of course, he would get rather amused when he learns what his reason is, but even more willing to help him out (jwy truly would be a good match for little a-sang! even da-ge would agree!)
and so jc decided to put a lot of effort into it, sometimes getting frustrated when he wouldn't get it right easily.
even lqr would occasionally help when lxc happens to have an urgency or not be available. it is always a pleasure seeing someone so eager to learn, even better when it is such a diligent student such as jc.
his plans to surprise nhs are screwed one day when he is training alone in the music room of the lan house. nhs decided to tag along with nmj to visit xichen-ge (and maybe get intel on jc who seemed suddenly close to him).
he wanted to see if he could listen to whoever was playing music, only to find jc practising, looking rather serious and focused on what he is doing.
he watches in silence, enjoying the sigh of the man he likes playing music.
jc jumps at the sound of applause when he is done with the new parts he learned, looking at the door to see he had been watched all this time.
He blushes when he sees the knowing smile on the young man's lips, unsure what to say right now.
"a-cheng is such a good musician" nhs complimented, joining him to sit next to jc.
"I am sure some parts were wrong" jc pointed out, even he could tell. This man nhs smile, gently bumping his shoulder with his.
"you are doing very good for someone who couldn't do any music a couple of weeks ago" he assured him, sounding sincere. This made jc smile, feeling warm at the thought that nhs truly thought he was doing good.
"Why don't you play some more for me, I want to hear you play".
of course, jc indulged, doing his best not to mess up, letting nhs guide him if he did something wrong.
maybe learning with the person he liked was even better than surprising him with his newly learned skill.

My entry for SangCheng Week 2022 - Day 5 - Hostility. I'm a day late. 😅
This is kind of a spin-off idea of the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries AU that lives in my head. I tried for the Phryne Fisher/Jack Robinson sexual tension, but I'm afraid I didn't quite get there.

I’m seeing this vast campaign against a single person who’s up for elections on AO3. Ok I get, people are worried.
What I find concerning however is that these posts contain screenshots of allegations other random people on the internet make - but not actual information or quotes from the person concerned.
This is Trump-like “lots of people say that” methods and you should be ashamed about sharing something like that.

When my lady walks into the room The lights come on to her sweet perfume I didn't know the devils by her side There I stood I had nothing to hide
My love could teach the blind to see My love's the wildest mystery My love said she'd be the one Now I know
Baby you're a liar You're a liar
I wasn't watching for the danger signs And I never read between the lines She says c'mon boy can you do your thing So I turned around still wondering
When my love dances she makes me cry My love dances with me tonight My love said she's be the one But now I know
Baby you're a liar Oh you're a liar A liar But I'm still burning with desire
With the look of a panther I got lost in the jungle No I can't help myself again I can't help myself Baby you're a liar
My love could teach the blind to see My love's the wildest mystery My love said she'd be the one Now I know
Baby you're a liar Oh yeah you're a liar A liar I'm burning with desire
Oh baby you're a liar Oh baby you're a liar (you're a liar) Oh baby you're a liar (you've bin known to veer from the truth) Lies You're a liar You're telling me lies Baby you're a liar Lies I'm burning with desire Lies Baby you're a liar

Meine #1 des Jahres 2022
During the Sunshot Campaign one night Jiang Cheng breaks down in the security of the camps in Qinghe. Not in front of his sister - in front of Nie Huaisang. It was just supposed to be a harmless get-together, just some drinks.
But the last battle didn't go well. Jiang Cheng survived, too many others died. And it's just too much. He cries. He failed them. He failed a lot of people. He doesn't know what he's doing. People die because he couldn't protect them. He wants his mother back. He wants his father back. He wants Wei Wuxian back. He's alone. He can't do this anymore. He's a failure. He cries, ugly cries. A lot. And Nie Huaisang does't really know how to deal with it, so he's just kinda awkwardly there.
They never talk about it, never mention it again. But their relationship slightly changed.

Jiang Cheng agrees to do a class at Cloud Recesses Yoga as a favor to Wei Wuxian.
He was only planning to go once, but then Nie Huaisang walks into the class, and Jiang Cheng is immediately smitten. Unbeknownst to Jiang Cheng, the feeling is entirely mutual.

He hasn’t seen Nie Huaisang in thirteen years. And now, he’s here to take him out of the world.
Lil fic for Sangcheng Week 2021 Day 1 - Heartbreak (assassin/mark)
The sun shines brightly, blue sky overhead reflecting off the angled panes of glass covering the building ahead. The sanctuary has just opened for the day but it’s too early for visitors. Multicolored raised beds bursting with flowers and fluttering with early morning pollinators fill the air with a fresh fragrance. There are no attendants around, but Jiang Cheng knows someone is in the building before him. The contract he’d received had told him as much. He doesn’t know who they are, but he has a basic description and a known talent for adapting to circumstance. He follows the narrow gravel path between tall beds of autumn-colored mums and black-eyed-susans, his boots making less sound than the bumblebees flying clumsily past his head.
He silently enters the bird house. It’s filled with cheerful sound, the happy, raucous birdsong everyone associates with bright new days and life in motion. It immediately reminds him of someone he hasn’t seen in over a decade, someone he’s thought of more than was probably normal considering how long it’s been. He stows this thought to process or repress later and passes into the main part of the sanctuary.
The building is a warehouse-sized room shielded in glass and choked in jungle-like layers of plantlife. It feels like wandering into the wild for a moment. The space has been created by human beings, but it belongs to the birds, and he can’t help the impression that he’s an interloper. But, that’s a feeling he’s more at home in than most, given his profession. As much as the greenery generates a sense of the unknown, it also provides him with the ability to go unseen, and he uses it to his advantage as he slowly begins to explore the space.
It doesn’t take long for him to find his mark. They give themselves away by their voice. While he can tell from yards away that their bird calls are well-practiced, there’s a depth to their voice that screams human. They speak bird with an accent, as someone once described it to Jiang Cheng. He suddenly has an uneasy feeling and stops his approach to listen. He trusts his instincts enough to take a few seconds, waiting for an obstacle to make itself known.
“Hello?” The person calling out is closer to Jiang Cheng than he’d realized, somewhere just beyond a screen of broad green leaves. His hand flexes at his side, his pulse quickens a fraction. “I thought you said someone was there. Are you trying to scare me?” The voice is familiar, but the laughter that follows is unmistakable. Jiang Cheng’s heart skips a beat, thuds harshly, and races like an engine about to shake itself apart. Without even seeing him, he knows. The person he’s been sent here to kill is Nie Huaisang.
Jiang Cheng hadn’t been born or raised an assassin. He’d had a normal life once. He’d been a typical teenager with an exceptional amount of disfunction in his family but plenty of love and support to get through it. One of the people he would never be able to thank enough for existing and caring for him was Nie Huaisang.
They’d been best friends since kindergarten, protecting each other from schoolyard bullies who thought Huaisang was too girly, Jiang Cheng was too awkward, and they were both from weird families. By the time they were in high school, Nie Huaisang’s room had become Jiang Cheng’s sanctuary when he needed to escape from the constant fighting in his own home, or get away from his obnoxious brother. Jiang Cheng had been the first person Nie Huaisang admitted his attraction to boys to, as soon as he’d started to accept it himself. He’d been Jiang Cheng’s first kiss on the first night either of them had tried alcohol. They’d laughed at each other afterward and fallen asleep together on someone else’s couch.
Despite years of ending long phone conversations with, “Love you!” as a half-joke, their relationship remained platonic until most of their senior year was over. On an otherwise ordinary day, Jiang Cheng saw Nie Huaisang turn around by the school gate where he always waited to greet his friend. His smile was the same one he used every day to tell Jiang Cheng wordlessly that he was as happy to see him as Jiang Cheng was. And at that moment, with the end of their school lives looming, he’d realized he wanted more.
They’d dated officially for less than a month before Jiang Cheng’s life had spun beyond his control, but that sliver of time spent together had been enough to haunt Jiang Cheng for more than a decade. It was the most peaceful, exciting, and hopeful few weeks of his life. And, the memories of this person’s warmth and affection had kept him going through all the dark times that had followed.
He hasn’t seen Nie Huaisang in thirteen years. And now, he’s here to take him out of the world.
“Hm… you really think there’s someone here?” the voice beyond the leaves asks conversationally. There’s no reply but birdsong. “Alright, if I look will that make you happy?”
Jiang Cheng is frozen to the spot. For once, he doesn’t know what to do. His mind is running backwards and forwards over the contract he’d received. How could he not have known? How could he have let himself become so distant from this person that they were not only strangers, but murderer and victim?
A pale hand parts the foliage before him like it’s a curtain. Then, he’s there, gazing into Jiang Cheng’s eyes, pinning him like a butterfly to a card.
“Huaisang.” The name tumbles from his lips.
Nie Huaisang smiles like he’s been waiting for him. He reaches out his hand, offering it to Jiang Cheng.
“Why are you skulking in the bushes?” he asks wryly. “You were upsetting the birds.”
“Huaisang, I—”
Nie Huaisang reaches further so he can grasp Jiang Cheng’s wrist and pull him out of his hiding place. His fingers are warm, his grip strong. His sharp nails dig into Jiang Cheng’s skin. If this is a dream, it’s very convincing.
Nie Huaisang is older now, and it suits him. His face has lost its childish softness, but he remains soft. He hasn’t gotten any taller, still the perfect height to tuck in against Jiang Cheng’s chest. His hair is long, like he hasn’t cut it since the last time they’d been together, half up in a bun with the rest sweeping down his back. He’s beautiful and handsome at the same time, regal in a three-piece suit.
A three-piece suit is not the standard uniform of the attendants at this sanctuary. It’s also nothing like the baggy flannel and short flared skirt he’d been wearing last time Jiang Cheng saw him.
“You—” Jiang Cheng starts. Nie Huaisang puts a finger to his lips.
“Sit down first. Take a breath and we can talk.” He pulls Jiang Cheng to a wooden bench and they sit down together before Huaisang releases his hold.
“Why—why are you here?” Jiang Cheng stumbles over his words.
“Why are you here?” Nie Huaisang repeats the question back at him, raising an eyebrow.
“You look good,” Jiang Cheng blurts.
Nie Huaisang’s face brightens with shock. He laughs, raising a hand to his mouth to cover his teeth.
“You’re still doing that,” Jiang Cheng huffs. He yanks Nie Huaisang’s hand away from his face. “I told you nobody wants you to hide your smile.”
Nie Huaisang stares at him. Jiang Cheng stares back, feeling as though his spirit has left his body and he’s just watching the action.
“I wasn’t expecting…” Nie Huaisang starts, but doesn’t finish his sentence.
“You were clearly expecting me,” Jiang Cheng says.
Nie Huaisang nods.
“Not that it’s a new development, but someone wants me dead,” he says softly. The sudden anger that Jiang Cheng feels over this reality must show on his face. Huaisang tilts his head and smiles in a sad way. It’s so much like the past that Jiang Cheng feels wrenched from the inside, skin too tight, blood to warm.
“How did you know that I was—that it would be me who showed up today and not someone else?” he asks.
“I didn’t know for certain,” Huaisang admits, “but I paid off as many people as I could to keep the pool of applicants low.”
“Who are you?” Jiang Cheng asks, all the tiny hints combining with circumstance to form a shaky picture of what’s going on here.
“Tell me why you’re here and I’ll explain everything,” Huaisang replies smoothly.
“I’m here to kill someone. Someone with long hair who likes spending their mornings in this bird sanctuary and did something to piss someone off enough to get a price on his head.”
Huaisang smirks. “How expensive am I?” he asks. “I wasn’t able to find out the exact hire price, just how much I needed to spend to outbid it.”
Jiang Cheng does not find this situation amusing, but he has enough practice interacting with people who would to keep up.
“Expensive enough to get me to cancel breakfast with my sister and nephew.”
“Aw, how is Yanli? I’ve missed her.”
“Huaisang, you need to explain what is going on here,” Jiang Cheng tells him firmly.
Huaisang sighs and pulls a lock of his long hair over his shoulder to toy with it.
“All those years, I told you so much about my family but you weren’t really listening,” he replies. “And that’s fine. I didn’t want you to realize who I was. I wanted to run away with you.” He looks up, smiling. Jiang Cheng says nothing. He’s holding his breath.
“When Mingjue got sick I took over for him. You were gone. There was no escaping it. And, as it turns out, I’m very good at being a crime lord.”
“Who wants you dead and why?” Jiang Cheng growls.
“Jin Guangyao. I’ve been working to destabilize his position in the city government for quite a while. It seems he finally found out.”
Jiang Cheng makes to stand up. Nie Huaisang grabs his arm,
“Where are you going?” he laughs.
Jiang Cheng looks down at him. “I’m going to take care of him so there isn’t a contract on you any more,” he explains like it’s obvious.
“Jiang Cheng, after all these years, you’re still so sweet and I don’t deserve it at all.”
“I’m an assassin. I came here to kill someone,” Jiang Cheng reminds him.
Nie Huaisang’s smile is so beautiful it makes him want to cry.
“You don’t have to worry about Jin Guangyao. I’ve already set his downfall in motion. I’m only here because I couldn’t resist the chance to see you again.”
Jiang Cheng glares at him. “You risked being assassinated for the chance to see your ex? Are you insane? You clearly knew where I was. Why didn’t you just call me?”
“I thought…” Nie Huaisang’s voice fades.
“You weren’t thinking,” Jiang Cheng supplies for him. He sighs, anger settling in as the unreality of the situation begins to disperse. “All these years—” he laughs bitterly at himself. “I’m such an idiot. Your cousin who was in jail, your brother’s weird work hours. All the guys in suits who would pick you up from school. God, I’m a fucking idiot.” He leans over and Huaisang releases his arm so Jiang Cheng can put his face in his hands.
“If you’d known,” Huaisang says, voice dark and even, “would you have told me what happened to your parents? Or would you have left the same way you did when you thought it was in my best interest?”
Jiang Cheng lifts his head, looks into the sad, guarded expression of the only person he’s ever been in love with, and snorts.
“You’re too stupid to be the head of a crime family. I can’t believe you. Huaisang, you—god, we’re a perfect match. No one else deserves to put up with our bullshit.”
Before Huaisang can decide which expression to paint on his face, Jiang Cheng leans in and kisses him. Huaisang makes a tiny sound of surprise, then returns the kiss. They haven’t done this in over a decade, but that time shrinks to nothing in a moment. Just like all those years ago, this day has gone from ordinary to the best day of Jiang Cheng’s life, because Nie Huaisang is here with him.
“Do you want to have lunch with me and Yanli? You can meet Jin Ling,” Jiang Cheng offers as soon as they pull apart. Nie Huaisang’s hands are warm on his shoulders.
“Jiang Cheng, it’s been thirteen years,” Huaisang objects weakly.
“You wanted to see me bad enough to risk being assassinated,” Jiang Cheng reminds him. He watches Huaisang blush with satisfaction. It had been fun when they were teenagers, and it’s even more fun now that he’s supposed to be a big scary criminal.
“Do you want to come work for me?” the scary criminal asks.
“I’m not cheap,” Jiang Cheng warns him.
Nie Huaisang smiles. “I think I can keep you satisfied.”

Sangcheng week 2021
Day 1: Enemies to Lovers ✨
"You're beautiful," Jiang Cheng whispers.
Nie Huaisang swallows, he pushes the tiny blade just a tiny bit deeper in the warrior's throat, but then, as his eyes wander from the neck over to the exposed cleavage, he stops.
Nie Huaisang hates humans but he's always felt lonely. And this human who's looking like an idiot is damn hot. Huaisang hates himself for having such thinkings but he can't stop staring at the warrior's thick pectorals. If humans really have such lowly thoughts he wasn't any better than them.
Jiang Cheng raises his hand to caress a strand of hair, black as ink, soft as silk. He can ascertain that this wolf princess is not a girl but a very beautiful young man... a fairy, most likely, dangerous and evil. But Wanyin doesn't care, he already feels like a lovesick fool.

when all is done and settled
could there be something left for us after all?
***
when all is done and settled //could there be something left for us after all? Characters: Nie Huaisang, Jin Ling I Jin Rulan, Jiang Cheng I Jiang Wanyin Word Count: 1,170 Ratings/Warnings: General Audiences, this is really self-indulgent, please don't judge me? (plot, what plot! can't a fic just be a long conversation?) Notes: written for sangcheng week 2021 day 3: grief//revenge but i am horrible at angst so have this mildly hopeful post-canon thing instead? Alternative Reading Link: [AO3]
***
Cultivation conferences have been particularly tedious lately. Truthfully, Huaisang never really enjoyed cultivation conferences – his idea of enjoyable social events does not encompass sitting in on a bunch of stuffy old men arguing pointlessly for hours on end – but lately –
Lately the meetings have been more grating than ever. It is probably because – well. Huaisang used to be able to catch his eye over his fan when Sect Leader Yao was being particularly odious – exchange half-hearted shrugs with a dimpled smile –
He’d won, Huaisang reminds himself. He’d come out the victor. He’d outwitted the cleverest person he’s ever known, so why –
It must be that cultivation conferences were never Huaisang’s favorite places to be, and now he has to endure being lonely on top of everything else.
Why didn’t anyone tell him victory would feel so hollow? How long will it be before he stops waking in cold sweat, the crack san-ge’s neck had made when he’d been dragged into the coffin resonating in his ears?
I never thought you would be the death of me, Nie Huaisang.
Across the room, Lan Wangji is rising stiffly from the chief cultivator’s position, announcing we will now adjourn for the noon meal sounding practically relieved, for Lan Wangji.
Ironic, Huaisang thinks, how he’d brought about Lan Wangji’s eternal earthly happiness and his elevation in the eyes of the cultivation world through his machinations (though he’d also driven his brother into seclusion, to be fair), and had been unable to secure any such joys for himself.
Perhaps if Wei Wuxian were the sort of person to attend cultivation conferences Huaisang might have at least a conversation partner, but Wei Wuxian, like Huaisang, has a particular distaste for this sort of gathering, and unlike Huaisang, is not at all obligated to actually be present.
And then, Huaisang thinks with a slight pang, trailing in the wake of his fellow sect leaders, there is the matter of another erstwhile old friend. The one who is currently several paces ahead of Huaisang, (tall and unattainable), walking with his hands behind his back, head tipped to the side to listen intently to whatever his nephew is whispering into his ear.
See – Huaisang used to have a long-standing agreement with Jiang Wanyin, at cultivation conferences – to meet up after the day’s agenda had been wrung dry – and poke fun at the general state of the cultivation world’s leadership over greasy street-stall food and a several drinks. Late at night and slightly inebriated is when Jiang Wanyin’s dry, sarcastic wit is at its most razor-sharp; their conversations have always been Huaisang’s favorite part of being at a cultivation conference.
Unfortunately, in the months since Huaisang’s decade-long plot had finally run its course, this agreement has quietly fallen through. The worst of it is, Huaisang cannot be sure why.
As far as he is aware, he hasn’t quarrelled with Jiang Wanyin – unless he is mistaken, the Jiang sect leader had been pretty pre-occupied, that night in Guanyin Temple, and can’t possibly have realized the extent of Huaisang’s role in the night’s events. It is understandable, then, that to Huaisang, this new distance that has cropped up between them is especially frustrating. Could it be, he wonders, that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji had revealed his plot to Sect Leader Jiang? But as far as Huaisang is aware, Jiang Wanyin is still not on speaking terms with the Chief Cultivator or his one-time martial brother.
Lost in his musings, Huaisang runs headlong into Jin Rulan, who has, in the meanwhile, unhooked himself from his uncle’s apron strings in favor of catching up with the Lan sect’s head disciple. As he stumbles backward, Huaisang finds himself on the receiving end of an appraising look from Jin Rulan (he looks down his nose just like his uncle!). He turns away from Lan Sizhui with a murmured give me a moment, A-yuan, and gives Huaisang an appropriately deferential bow, sect-leader-to-sect-leader.
“Sect Leader Nie,” he says, grave, polite (he used to call Huaisang Nie-shushu, once upon a time, Huaisang thinks with a twinge of pain).
Huaisang nods back, crinkles his eyes over his fan. “Sect Leader Jin,” he says, cheerfully. “You look well.”
Jin Rulan takes a step closer, casting a cursory glance around the room. Lan Sizhui is pointedly looking elsewhere.
“I feel I should tell you,” Jin Rulan says, expression frank, straightforward, “I am aware of an obligation I have to return a favor you have done my late uncle.”
Huaisang’s breath catches in his throat. To think he would actually come out and say it, and in such a place! Or perhaps it is because of the place – but if this is a warning, he is doing a horrible job – . The part of Huaisang’s mind that is not absorbed in self-preservation thinks, dimly, that perhaps certain things are in fact passed down, from father to son, like naivety, and a sense of justice.
“I am afraid I must be misunderstanding you, Sect Leader Jin,” Huaisang says, easily, giving Jin Rulan his most innocuous expression, from above his fan.
Jin Rulan smiles. “Rest assured,” he says, a sardonic tone in his voice that, once again, is all Jiang Wanyin, “you are not. But –,” here, he pauses, takes a breath, “ my objective in telling you is to let you know I have in fact decided to let the matter rest.”
Now Huaisang is sure he must be misunderstanding, because none of this conversation is making any sense. “You have,” he says, faintly.
Jin Rulan nods, decisive. “Yes,” he says, “I am not quite sure I will be able to properly forgive you, Sect Leader Nie, but the truth is I have precious few family members left to me. Besides, my jiujiu has assured me that revenge is not a road lightly taken, and that I probably do not have the temperament for it.”
A laugh – rather like a sob – climbs its way out of Huaisang’s throat. “Your jiujiu doesn’t mince words,” he finds himself saying.
Jin Rulan gives him a considering look. “My jiujiu is lonely, too,” he declares, a non-sequitur if there ever was one, “I’d rather he not lose anyone else precious to him, if it is all the same to you, Sect Leader Nie.”
From across the pavilion, Jiang Wanyin – who is caught in what looks like an excruciating three-way conversation with Sect Leaders Yao and Ouyang – turns, as if by some protective maternal paternal instinct. He looks from Huaisang to Jin Rulan, and back. Catches Huaisang’s eye, holds. Gives Huaisang a brief nod. Something bright and painful flares in Huaisang’s chest.
“Thank you, for your magnanimity,” Huaisang tells Jin Rulan – to himself, silently, he adds: perhaps, one day, I will be worthy of it, and then, “and to your point; I think I will go rescue your jiujiu before he embroils us in another diplomatic situation.”
Jin Rulan’s answering smile is blinding.
The feeling in Huaisang’s chest grows brighter.
Ah, Huaisang thinks, this is what it feels like to hope.

One Day Only Ko-Fi Commissions
Hey ya’ll! So, you may have seen me discussing my Super Secret Project. It’s fandom related (I hope to have an official announcement including other ways to support us - cause it’s not just me involved - in the next couple weeks), and it’s going to cost a fair amount of money to launch (not in the cosmic scheme, it’s actually pretty cheap, but compared to how much money I actually HAVE...yeah...) and as such, I’ll be taking ko-fi commissions periodically to start helping me raise the funds.
My Ko-Fi is Here.
Pricing is:
$3 (one ko-fi) = 100 words on the nose (drabble)
$6 (two ko-fis) = 500 words, more or less
$9 (three ko-fis) = 1000 words, more or less
I am not accepting commissions for longer works at this time - the idea of this is, I open it on days when I feel capable, and after the day, it’s closed, so everything has to be short.
Commissions are open on 1/23/2021 (today) from roughly 10 AM EST until roughly 5 PM EST. Anything after that, I appreciate your contribution but I cannot guarantee I’ll be able to write you a fic. All fics will be written today (unless I get swamped, which I seriously doubt).
For each commission, please pick ONE ship and ONE trope/kink/AU from the following list:
Ships (Pick One):
SPN: Destiel, DCJ, Destiny, Denny, Sabriel, Saileen
MCU: Stucky, All Caps, WinterFalcon, WW3some, Thorki
MDZS/The Untamed: Wangxian, Sangcheng, Xicheng, Chengqing, Songxiao, Ningxian, Wangningxian
SVSSS: Bingqiu, Liushen, Bingliushen
YoI: Viktuuri
CP: Zimbits
Star Wars: Stormpilot, Jedistormpilot, Jedistorm
Prompts (Pick One):
Settings: Regency AU, fantasy AU, science fiction AU, 19th century US AU, steampunk AU, cyberpunk AU, celebrity AU, drag AU, coffeeshop AU
Tropes: there was only one bed, OMG they were roommates, hurt/comfort, meet cute, friends to lovers, trapped together
Kinks: DP, BDSM, pegging, bondage, creature character (feel free to pick a creature, or you can let me), A/B/O
Reminder: Pick ONLY ONE from the Ships list and ONLY ONE from the Prompts list. Anything more than that, I can’t promise to be able to fit into prompts this short, and even if you know I write something - the above is what I feel like writing today, but it will be different other days, and I’ll definitely be doing this more than once, and you if you’re really desperate you can drop me an ask and I’ll let you know if I’m willing to do what you’re asking for today.
If something is really important to you, that you think will be relevant/might come up, please tell me that too. (ie, triggers, squicks, who tops and bottoms, specific dom/sub dynamics, specific A/B/O designations)
You can either include your prompt in your ko-fi comment, drop it to me in an ask, or DM me (here or on Discord is fine). I am happy to keep your fill anonymous, but I ask that you send it to me not-anonymously so that I can correlate your request with the ko-fi purchase.
Fills will be posted on Tumblr and on AO3.
Feel free to drop me an ask if you have any questions!
Thanks in advance, everyone! Signal boosts appreciated. <3

baby, you hit me like a tidal wave
negotiations.
*** baby, you hit me like a tidal wave Characters: Nie Huaisang, Jiang Cheng I Jiang Wanyin Word Count: 1,066 Ratings/Warnings: General Audiences, please don't look too hard for mistakes because you will find them Notes: written for sangcheng week 2021 day 2: arranged marriage, still modern AU because apparently that's how we roll Alternative Reading Link: [Click here to read on AO3]
***
“Most of the details are negotiable,” Jiang Cheng says, sliding a file across the restaurant table, “but basically it’s a two year contract – ”
Huaisang pulls the file closer, idly flips through the contents. He lets Jiang Cheng’s voice (it’s a beautiful voice, don’t misunderstand, but whatever he is saying sounds so pedantic) wash over him.
“We’ll keep assets separate,” Jiang Cheng is saying, “and anything else that you want – ”
No exclusivity requirements, the contract stipulates in clear, bold font, but keep all side relationships quiet. Huaisang feels slightly sick.
Why didn’t you just ask Da-ge, he wants to say, if you were going to be this impersonal, if this was really going to be just a paper marriage. Why do you think I volunteered?
How foolish of him, Huaisang thinks, to have believed – however briefly – that he’d been chosen.
“A-sang?” Jiang Cheng says, rousing Huaisang from his reverie. “What’s the matter? Aren’t you listening?”
He looks genuinely concerned, almost like he cares about Huaisang as a person, instead of just a front to help prop up the failing family business he’s been forced to inherit too young.
Huaisang fiddles with the napkin in his lap, takes a sip from his too-cold drink, takes a deep breath. They were friends once, he reminds himself. Aren’t marriages – even those of convenience – built off of communication? He owes it to himself to speak now instead of waiting to be hurt, inevitably, later.
“Cheng-er,” he says, “do you like me?”
Confused is a beautiful expression on Jiang Cheng. If Huaisang is honest, most expressions are beautiful on Jiang Cheng, although that might be because he is absolutely whipped for Jiang Cheng, and has been since they were fifteen and meeting for the first time at boarding school (okay, Huaisang has a thing for grumpy pretty boys. Sue him). They’d been inseparable, then, the four of them: Huaisang and Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying and Lan Zhan. Their friends have been happily settled for years – it was probably just Huaisang’s imagination but he’d always felt Jiang Cheng had the slightest soft spot for him, which is why he had been hoping –
“Like you,” Jiang Cheng repeats, “of course I like you. We’re friends, aren’t we?”
“For someone as smart as you are you can be really stupid sometimes, Jiang Cheng,” Huaisang says, and steels himself for the inevitable pain at the end of this plunge. Let Da-ge call him a coward now, “because I like you. I like you a lot, and I don’t mean in a let’s get married for the sake of our respective family images and then part ways like it never happened because we’re friends way. So if this is just business to you let me know now so I can have the remittance for breaking my heart added to the terms and conditions.”
“Oh,” Jiang Cheng says, faintly. He looks like he’s going to add something else, probably something like I wasn’t expecting that, but then he keeps silent, still looking adorably bewildered. Huaisang wants to kiss him.
Instead, he stands up, tosses his napkin to the table. “Yeah,” he says, “if that’s all I’m going to be going now. You can reach me through my agent for any further communication about the contract.” He gives himself a mental pat on the head for keeping his voice steady.
Huaisang takes his coat from the maître d'on the way out of the restaurant, retrieves his keys from the valet with a I’ll get my car myself, thank you and is striding into the basement-level parking lot when a hand closes over his wrist.
Ah, cliches, how wonderful, the voice in his mind that sounds a lot like Jin Guangyao supplies. Shut up, he tells it.
“Wait,” Jiang Cheng sounds a little breathless – as if he’d run after Huaisang, as if he’d actually been afraid of missing him, “wait a minute, A-sang.”
Huaisang turns, schooling his face into a neutral expression. Jiang Cheng looks – nervous, Huaisang thinks. He isn’t sure, because he doesn’t think he’s ever seen Jiang Cheng nervous – he usually takes everything in stride – but this – his throat bobs, perceptibly, as he swallows, and is he biting his lip? He still hasn’t let go of Huaisang’s wrist.
“What?” Huaisang raises a pointed eyebrow at him.
“You didn’t let me speak,” Jiang Cheng says. His hand is burning a warm brand into Huaisang’s skin.
Huaisang tilts his chin. “So speak.”
There is a muscle twitching in Jiang Cheng’s flawless jaw. “You’ll tell me if I say something stupid,” he says, equal parts belligerent and anxious, so Huaisang nods, heart in his throat.
“Okay,” Jiang Cheng says, and then, “it was never just business for me. I care about you, A-sang, it’s just that I didn’t dare hope – ”
“You’re saying something stupid,” Huaisang tells him. “I’m not signing up to deal with your inferiority complex, A-cheng, you’ll have to do something about it if you really want to marry me.”
A beat, then –
“I’ll add it to the terms and conditions,” Jiang Cheng says, mock-serious.
Huaisang narrows his eyes. “Also – if I’m not misunderstanding – how truly ungentlemanly of you, Jiang Cheng,” with a playful whine, “to try to trap me in a contract marriage like this – were you just going to stay silent about your feelings – ”
He stops – Jiang Cheng has turned the wrist he is still holding and pressed a brief, open-mouthed kiss to Huaisang’s pulse point – gaze fixed steadily on Huaisang’s face.
“I promise to court you properly from now on, Nie-xiansheng,” he says, and there is a note in his voice that makes Huaisang’s toes curl in his shoes.
Huaisang has to remind himself it would not be the best idea to push Jiang Cheng against the wall and show him how he likes to be kissed – they are still in a public space, after all. If someone were to pass by – well, the internet rumor mill would have a field day with the headlines: idol-actor Nie Huaisang caught kissing Jiang Corp heir in underground parking lot, click for pictures! It would definitely throw a wrench into the whole image-rehabilitation aspect of this arrangement.
Instead, he reminds himself that some things are better taken slow – so in the meantime,
“Great,” Huaisang says, smiling widely, “you can start by taking me somewhere better than this place for dinner – the food here was awful.”

SangCheng Week
Day 8 - Through the years (gusu days, sunshot campaign, post canon...)
Happy end of SangCheng Week everyone!
This is actually the only piece I truly managed to finish. I did it a month ago and I wish I had had the time to have the rest of the illustrations get to this level, but alas.
Look at that last one. That is some disney prince shit right there. I love Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang so much, you guys. I think they are both flawed and fucked up individuals, but I think that makes them both even more interesting. Post canon is so interesting to me because they’ve gone through so much, they’ve suffered such losses, that I think they would have some common ground to work on.  I just want them both to be happy ♥

SangCheng Week
Day 7 - Secrets/fake dating
This is for the same AU as day 4, where Nie Huaisang saves Jin Rusong from being killed and allies with Jiang Cheng to bring Jin Guanyao down.
Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang take advantage of the busy atmosphere at the cultivation conference in Koi Tower to sneak around and go into the Jin’s private  area to look for incriminating evidence on JGY. Unfortunately, JGY comes back way earlier than they had expected so they are forced to improvise.
NHS: what? we? looking for proof of your numerous crimes? NOOOOooo. We were just here because it’s a secluded place and we wanted to kiss. We were kissing. Because we are in a secret romantic relationship San-ge. Obviously.
Its amazing but it does work. Jiang Cheng is blushing ultra hard and not saying anything so he does look genuinely ashamed of having been caught, and Huaisang was kissing him quite ardently so even though the idea of them surprises JGY he believes it. NHS tells JC to go back to the guests quarters cause he is going to have a convo with JGY.
Our Jin Guangyao is a bit skeptic about this relationship being good for Huaisang. After all Jiang Zongzhu is famous for his anger outbursts and his severity. Huaisang answers doing what he does best: mixes some truths with lies so it is all believable.  He tells Jin Guangyao that he’s been in love with Jiang Cheng since they met at Cloud Recesses. He is the only friend he has left from that generation with wwx and jzx being dead and wangji being in seclusion. He also tells him that Jiang Cheng understands grief, and remembering loved ones, and even though they are very different they complement each other. He even tells him that Jiang Cheng can be very sweet when no one is around looking. So he obviously asks JGY to please keep the relationship a secret. JGY accepts. Jiang Cheng is waiting for NHS to show up back in his quarters. When he does he has a meltdown because JGY now has something he can use as leverage against him. Blackmail him to get more time with Jin Ling than him. They have a bit of a fight because Jiang Cheng shouts ``I'm not a cutsleeve!" and nhs shouts back at him "Well, I AM". That surprises and shuts JC up. After the shouting match they kinda calm down and JC admits that it was very clever move on Huaisang’s part, and that if they are "secretly dating" even if JGY spies on them he will only know that they are visiting each other and travelling together to random places. Everything they do now has that façade
When all the tension is out Huaisang jokes
"You know, you could at least have kissed back JC, you are a shit lover"
JC blushes hard again and snarls "YOU GAVE ME NO WARNING WHATSOEVER" Nhs probably riles him up a bit more until he dares to prove to him that he knows how to give a goddamn kiss. You know JC's competitive ass.
They kiss now properly and when they part JC doesn't want to admit it but he kinda has butterflies in his stomach. He says nothing, obviously, but nhs stares at him kind of star struck.
Nothing else happens that day but something has changed between them and then things will end up evolving.
I love this AU so much I will probably end up writing a fic in the future. I just need to finish the two that I’ve started publishing first and all the wips in my google drive
