I'm so glad we all agree that Sanji would be an omega in the omegaverse. I mean let's look at the evidence: can cook, is good mom, tiny little waist for men to grab, is canonically in heat all the time.
Also he would absolutely hate his secondary gender. Especially since we also all agree that a bunch of the rest of the crew are alphas and he's the only omega lol
I think it'd be funny if he kept making disgusted comments because Luffy and Zoro never showered, but he's the only one who can smell them because he's an omega. He hadn't told anyone what he is yet and they all assumed he was a beta because he takes a bunch of hormone and scent blockers. (Not to mention that the cigarettes cover up his scent as well.)
(and here comes the enviable zosan)
After he comes out he slowly stops taking all his pills. What he doesn't know is that they had an effect on his hormones and the way he perceived others. (This is based on a real life fact abt birth control i find fascinating btw, her's an article about it)
At first he's in denial that he found the Marimo so attractive, but his body and mind were screaming like a lovesick teenager evey time he was in the same room as him. He thought it was an illness and went to Chopper about it, but Nami heard "the symptoms" and told him to stop bothering Chopper with nonsense.
Sanji noticed he automatically hung around Zoro more and more, he also noticed that Zoro does the same as well (he has been trying since the beginning but Sanji always shoos him away). The cook especially likes "sunbathing" next to zoro while he's training, because he can smell him better.
He realizes that he has a problem once Zoro wiped his body down with a towel after a particularly heavy exercise session and Sanji took it. Initially he was smelling it to feel the pheromones but then he noticed his nose was bleeding profusely and he had to use it to stop himself from bleeding out.

Heyooo :D
Robin's anon back (ngjfnjff this is so funny to type I hope you don't mind 😭😭), could I request Robin with a male s/o who always take care of the crew ? (He's either like a big bro or a father for some of them) For example : He always makes sure Zoro sleeps in a comfortable position whenever he suddenly takes a nap after training, he always brings to Nami new inks, maps, pens..., candies for Chopper (just like Robin hehehehe), food for Luffy... but in process he kinda neglects himself because he prioritizes the crew above all.
Thank you again for your kindness and I wish you an amazing day/night. ❤️😊

you ran to the library as soon as you could and flopped into one of the chairs
a hand touched your shoulder and you wanted to just completely melt away from how tired you were
and yet you were gonna have to help another person
nope!
just robin:)
i mean you didn’t mind helping but…today’s been a long day
robin sits next to you
you air your complaints and get a lot of much needed stress off your shoulders
she sprouts two hands from your back to massage your shoulders and it felt really good
she gives you advice to start saying ‘no’ a little more and that it’s okay to take some time for yourself
she scolds you only a bit when you do this but only because she cares
and especially because she loves you
💗
robin had a hand in the bathroom preparing you a hot bath while you vented to her
after you were done she told you about the shower
and boy it was a real steamy one
just what you needed
robin always knows just what to do when your exhausted
but would prefer if you’d simply solve the problem at hand
LOL
she lectures you about this and man does it drag on
oh well you’d much rather hear her soothing voice than overexert yourself
she recommends you things like meditation and reading
and maybe even to go to chopper about it
especially if things get physical like your back or arms hurt
zoros’ heavy ok?
spawns a bunch of arms to chop your back if that’s what you need
shes the best really
brings you drinks and honestly just caters to you until your feeling better
by then your ready for a hot meal and some sleep
which is exactly what happens thankfully
you two holds hands in your sleep and cuddle a little closer that night
SO SWEET 🥲
these were shorter than my norm
it’s ok bc quality over quantity right?? you can always request more i’m just sleepy rn 😋
also this was in a slightly different writing style than usual so i hope you like!! it’s not permanent tho

Heyyy!!!! i was wondering if you could write a zosan with a reader that speaks a different language and her background is different from them and she’s homesick and she cooks food from home and sanji wants to learn how to cook it so that next time she’s homesick (i’m homesick really bad right now lol)
(more cats for you)🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you so much for the cats they are so cute and i love how each one represents a member of the straw hat crew. Also i love the idea and i'm sorry your homesick so i hope this is good.
Zoro X Sanji X Reader, poly relationship, established relationship, reader is GN.
Warning: Fluff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ You don't often get homesick but sometimes places or things remind you of home and when that happens things can hit hard. Once happy memories now make you cry and of course Zoro and Sanji took notice. They knew your home was important to you and leaving was a big decision, so they understood when you got a little down but this was different.
^ You often use your own language when you get mad about something or to express something but its funny to see some of the crew's reaction to it. Luffy, Chopper and Franky is always confused while Brook and Usopp tend to get more scared than when there scolded by Nami especially if your angry words are directed at them. Nami loves it and if she isn't getting threw to anyone she'll often drag you over and tell you to do your worst, she has no idea what your saying but its effective. Robin and Jinbe know a few words here and their mainly because they have both travailed a lot and like to learn new things.
^ Sanji and Zoro don't understand exactly what your saying, but they know what you mean either by your body language or tone of voice. Zoro has picked up a few words here and there but only knows what they might mean, your surprised at how accurate he is on sometimes. Sanji loves listening to you talk in your language he often gets heart eyes even when your mad about something he can't help but love the way you talk and the strange words that fall from your lips.
^ Sanji and Zoro love to hear about your home and your culture, your home was so different to theirs on so many levels. When you told them you were feeling homesick they both asked what they could do to help but you honestly didn't know, Sanji asked if you could teach him how to cook food from your home while Zoro offered to get put stuff on your shared room that reminded you of home, like a color or figure.
^ You asked your grandmother to send you and copy of her old recipe book so Sanji could use it but you ran into a problem when it arrived, you forgot it was in your language and your Grandmother didn't put too many measurement down since she was the type to do things by eye. You didn't worry too much though, you rewrote the book so Sanji could understand and in a way it made you feel a lot better and remember old times.
^ Sanji watched you cook mainly form memory even though the book was right in front of you and managed to fill in the missing measurement, but he was so impressed, you really knew what you were doing and the smile on your face made his heart flutter. He helped you cook both of you working together to create something that meant so much to you and Sanji made sure to port even more love and care into the food than he normally does.
^ Zoro asked you a lot about your culture and home, form there he picked up a few things that you most likely didn't realize were important to you so kept them in mind. He could see the way your eyes light up when talking about your home and often wants to hear more just to see that look on your face, he'll sit there for hours if you let him just looking at you with so much love.
^ When ever you went out to a village to get stuff he would come with you and tend to spot things that reminded you of home, he'd ask if you wanted it but you'd say no. Zoro knows you to well sometimes and can tell by a simple shift of the eyes if your lying or not. If you are lying he'll keep the places Name in mind, so he can go out with someone else later to get it for you. Zoro wouldn't give you the things that he bought instead he would do one of two things, hide it for another time like when your homesick again, or just put it in your room and just shrug when you ask about it.
^ Getting homesick would come few and far between after everything they've done for you but when it does hit, it hurts and sometimes you can't even look at the food from home Sanji cooks or the little things in your room that Zoro got you. In times like that no one knows what to do not even you, all the boys can do is hold you and give you words of love and reassurance but Luffy ended up giving the boys an idea, it didn't surprise them that their captain wanted to throw a party but what did surprise them was the theme.
------------------ Story
You weren't aloud outside your room for hours, Sanji and Zoro only told you it was a surprise and to wait so you did even though it was a long wait you still did it. When Sanji finally walks in your relived only for the man to make you close your eyes and cover them while he helps you out the room and down onto the grassy deck of the sunny. "You ready?" Sanji asks seeming more excited as his hands go to your waist keeping you still, you feel another set of hands this time around your wrists "I hope you like it" Zoro's voice hits your ears making you smile and nod, finally your hands are pulled away from your face to reveal the grassy deck full of food, drinks and decorations. You couldn't help the smile that forms as the crew cheer "Surprise" Sanji and Zoro smile at you as your face lights up, everything about the deck, the food and drinks are based around your home and culture, it felt like you were home again. Tears of joy well up in your eyes as you pull your boys in for a hug "This is amazing, thank you" You laugh unable to believe what they've done for you. "Your welcome love but it wasn't really our idea" Sanji rubs your back as you pull away and turn hearing Luffy laugh behind you "It was the captain's idea" Zoro looks over at his captain who nods before pointing to Brook "Lets Party".
The music was just like home as well as the energy, Nami and Robin danced together and you could tell that Robin has been teaching the navigator a few of your home town moves. The food was almost everything form your grandmas cook book, all perfectly made by Sanji with a helping hand from Nami and Chopper. It teased perfect, almost like your grandmother had made it herself, you couldn't be more happy with it and you knew your grandmother would be proud and probably fawn over Sanji for making it perfect. The decor was made by Usopp and Franky but Zoro was the one who told them what to make and if things where wrong, you knew he took notice but there were very small details that he got just right even the placement was perfect. Brook asked for help form Jinbe and Robin since they seemed to know more about your language and Music, he wanted to play music, but he also wanted to try and play it in your language, the poor musician struggled a little but you couldn't be prouder, he got a few words wrong but it never affected the song or the meaning behind it. After hearing everything you couldn't help but be thankful to everyone and express that as many times as possible.
As the night went on you danced, sang and had a very good time, your homesickness long forgotten and that heavy feeling gone. You sat with the two boys, Zoro in the middle like always watching the others dance and Brook sing, you sang lightly along with the music in your native language tapping your knee with your finger to the beat. Zoro was transfixed holding his beer mug in his hand but not taking a sip just looking at you calm and happy face and listening to you sing in words he doesn't full understand. You only stop singing when you look up and notice the look on Zoro's face, his light smile and focused eye on yours "Don't stop" His simple words made you smile leaning into him more and placing your head on his shoulder, Sanji reaches his hand over and interlocks your fingers with his "Please love, keep going" You couldn't refuse the two so continued on while the swordsman's hand rubs your hip and the cooks thumb runs over yours. "Its beautiful" Sanji whispers after the songs over and watches as you lift your head off Zoro's shoulder "I can't thank you two enough, this is... beyond amazing" You couldn't help but thank them. Everything about this is perfect, Sanji moves tucks some hair behind your ear before leaning over and place his lips on yours "Anything for you, mi amour" The cook places one last kiss on your lips before sitting back.
Zoro places his still full mug down before looking you over as you turn to look up at him, his hand running up your side as he leans down "There's no need to thank us, the nights not over yet" The swordsman speaks against your lips before placing a kiss on them, a few short kisses turn into longer kisses until Zoro bits your lower lip asking for something more. You gladly provide, opening your mouth for him and letting your tongues meet and roam around, running your hand up his chest to his cheek you rub your thumb over his cheek bone while lightly humming in delight. You only pull away when air is needed but you stay close and whisper loving words to him in your own language making the man smiles and kiss your lips lightly. Zoro turns to Sanji who's looking at the two of you with love and a slight pinkness to his cheeks, "You did a good job" The swordsman leans over places kisses on the cooks lips who gladly kisses back "You did too" The blonde complements before locking lips with Zoro eagerly opening his mouth before the swordsman can get a chance to ask, as the two make out you can't help but smile seeing the two happy and loving each other. Sanji soon pulls away slightly breathless but with a wide smile "You want to dance?" The cook asks taking your hand looking you over before looking at Zoro. The swordsman shakes his head refusing the offer while picking his mug back up drinking some of it.
You nod kissing Zoro's cheek before standing and letting Sanji take your hand walking you over to where the others are. You love dancing with Sanji, you often do it in the kitchen but with the lights, the music and decor it feels special, wrapping your arms around Sanji's neck you lean in closer placing your lips on his as his hands guide your hips as you dance. You two share light kisses throughout only focusing on each other and blocking out the world around you two, as the music picked up so did your dancing, going form slow and intimate to a quicker pace with more energy. Luffy, Chopper and Franky were fascinated by how well you danced using moves from your home while Sanji followed, over the years you've tough each other a lot of dances from your home, so he was very good at it. Zoro watched from afar lightly smiling at how much you seemed to be enjoying yourself, you still sang along to Brooks music in your native language, something about the change of tone or voice when you speak so confidently in that language makes his heart flutter a little. In the end you couldn't be more thankful to the people you have around you, your crew is your family and it may not be home but its like your second home and when needed they can make it more like your old home.

Reading your OP yandere isekais got me wondering how would they react to the Davy Back Arc lol. Great work btw I especially like the Purpose one!
Thank you, I'm glad to hear you liked it!
lol I'm actually currently on that arc right now funny enough and have thought about the same thing. I think as long as the Foxy pirates don't try to take the reader onto their team it would go relatively normally, but if they did... Oh boy. I'll put the rest under a cut for vague spoilers for Skypiea and Davy Back arcs
It would make sense for them to since it seems everyone that comes across the reader immediately goes full on yandere for them, and by that point in the series, the straw hats would definitely be catching onto that. Hiding them away is off the table, so now they're just trying to get them to keep a low profile and not attract attention. This doesn't work, and what do you know, after they lose the first game they immediately want the reader.
All hell breaks loose.
I imagine they would have already had some close calls before this, especially in Skypiea with Enel more than likely snatching them up for his own amusement. So to say they are all already on edge would be an understatement.
The announcer barely gets reader's name out before Luffy's fist connects with his face. His own face is stone cold but simultaneously seething. He's breathing heavy and tells them to try again. Foxy tries to remind him of the rules, but it's too late.
"We're pirates, since when do rules and regulations apply to us?" Sanji takes a drag of his cigarette, his expression just as chilling as Luffy's.
"Why don't we just end this here and now? The rules don't protect them from being wiped out by the other team," Zoro already had his swords drawn, looking disturbing nonchalant while talking about essentially massacring the enemy pirate crew. "They can't take our Jolly Roger and drag our names through the mud if they aren't alive. Dead men tell no tales, you know."
All the reader can do is watch on in horror as the monster trio live up to their reputations. Everyone else is crowded around you, trying to assure you that everything is okay and those awful people won't lay a hand on you. Their words are all in one ear and out the other. All you can focus on is the fact that your presence here has officially altered the story. You feel sick to your stomach wondering what else will change and who else is going to get hurt or killed because of you.

Evie's One Piece OC Compendium
SO @eustasskidsfattits asked me to make a post about my One Piece OCs, so here it is! I wanted to make this way sooner, but then stuff happened and then I got to show one of my friends OPLA and 8 OCs turned to 9 (oopsies...). Also, the perfectionist in me would not shut up. Yes, this is technically the intro for the three newest ones, so buckle up!
I'm gonna list them in the order that I created them, simply because listing them in the order of their appearance in the story would be fairly impossible with how OPLA likes to introduce characters earlier on lol - These OCs also all exist in their own separate universes, by the way...
So yeah, long post incoming and, for any OPLA-onlies reading this post: Spoiler warning!!!
Not proofread because I just wanna finally get this post out and I am lacking energy
Tumblr media
The Guardian: Aether S. Luna
Tumblr media
The original One Piece OC and also the one who has gone through the most changes. I revamped her only recently!
Luna is convinced that she's the daughter of the moon goddess aka of Mother Moon herself, and there are some very odd things about her that make that very plausible. She looks like how you would imagine the daughter of the moon to look like, with very pale skin and very light blonde hair, she has magical powers that are charged by basking in the moonlight, she needs very little sleep as long as the moon is out, her strength is based on the moon cycle... Oh, also: Wings. Large, white wings, that don't fit in with any other humanoid creature in the world. So, nobody really has any solid evidence against it either. Well... Nobody who hasn't been to Egghead Island.
She's introduced into the story at Long Ring Long Land (I actually have two fics for that) as a part of Foxy's crew because he won her in a Davy Back Fight. Before that, she was sort of aimlessly travelling the seas with various crews, just trying to find a place to belong. Throughout the Davy Back Fight, Luna ends up befriending the Straw Hats and Luffy, being Luffy, of course won't pass up the opportunity to have someone as weird as her on their crew, so she joins!
Sanji is, of course, very enamoured with this literal goddess. Even more so than usual. Luckily for him, his charm seems to be working on Luna too. She essentially goes from "Oh, you're adorable. You're funny." to "Oh. Oh no. That's the love of my life, isn't it?", at the very latest when she sees Sanji after he absolutely decimates the people on the Sea Train.
I can't really talk too much about her because a lot of my ideas for her are very visual, but I guess I could give some more little facts? First of all, Luna is 18 and her blood group is S. You can take a look at my animanga character sketches for her here and here if you want! Her wings haven't grown to their full size yet pre-timeskip, and she molts like a bird as she grows, so whenever that happens, she's essentially grounded and chronically exhausted. And that happens around the time of Sabaody. Perfect timing, right? Also, she has to preen her wings, especially after battles, and her crewmates keep around her feathers either for practical or sentimental reasons. And in case you were wondering, of course she heads to Whole Cake Island to go after her boyfriend. Big Mom takes an interest in her, Judge wants to steal her lineage factor, it's a very fun time for everyone involved.
Tumblr media
The Sweet Tooth: Charlotte Inari
Tumblr media
Ah yes, sweet little Inari. Inari is Pudding's twin sister, she's also a member of the Three-Eyed Tribe and she's named after inari-zushi (if you were wondering how she fits into the Charlotte Family naming scheme). She ate the Kami Kami no Mi, Model: Shikigami, which has a very complicated way to how it works, but, essentially, it binds her to a master whose orders she has to follow and, in turn, gets special abilities from based on her master's. That master is the person who last saved her life. The problem with that situation is that she got the devil fruit when she was still very young and travelling at sea with one of her siblings, and a sea battle ensued where chaos happened and she got herself kidnapped. So, she ends up being passed around from master to master for years until finally ending up with Enel. That is, until Luffy defeats him, and she joins the Straw Hats.
Inari, being that she spent her early formative years on Totto Land, has some very interesting ideas of what's considered normal for animals, plant life, people... for everything, really. She fights with two war fans (as well as her devil fruit, of course) and knows how to play the shamisen, both of which she picked up while travelling with a crew of Wano ancestry for a while. Also, she naturally has a huge sweet tooth and loves to make sweets too. It runs in her genes.
Inari's goal while travelling with the Straw Hats at first is to get back home. She's just a kid, she wants to go home, at least to let her family know that she's okay. And her family and her friends will totally get along, right??? That's also why she doesn't fully consider herself part of the Straw Hats for the longest time. She's a member of the Big Mom Pirates, simply by birth right. However, this all gets a bit thrown on its head with the Timeskip and everything after that. Because, during the timeskip, Kuma sends her to Totto Land, and she officially joins the Big Mom Pirates. So, she has everything she has ever wanted, right? Well... She still ends up coming back. She loves her friends too much not to go back to them. And then Luffy ends up starting a war with Big Mom, which is... not ideal? Whole Cake Island is especially fun. And Wano? Oh boy!
Also... remember the special ability of the Three-Eyed Tribe? Yeah. Inari awakens her third eye when she hears the Drums of Liberation, but nobody notices and she doesn't tell anybody until the battle is long over, and even then she only tells Sanji and Robin.
Tumblr media
The Tailor: Akaito Coraline
Tumblr media
My dear, sweet Cora... We're entering the live action era now! Aka when everything started to escalate and I started drowning in OCs. I freaking love the live action, man... Maybe a little too much.
Anyways, Cora! Cora is the last living member of the Akaito Clan, a tailoring family from the North Blue of world-class fame who was eradicated by Germa 66 when they didn't want to work for their evil plans. Their main identifier is a sewing needle pierced through the left ear, and they can tell a person's measurements just by looking at them. Of course, there are many imposters around because Akaito-made clothes sell for a fortune, but they usually fail at these criteria. Cora was only a baby when the attack from Germa happened, so she doesn't remember anything from that day or about her family, except for her mother, who was selected as the sole adult survivor of the massacre, because she had Cora, and Judge had plans for Cora. Little did Judge know that her mother also had plans for Cora, and that she had given the baby the Akaito Clan's most prized possession: The Sew Sew Fruit (Chiku Chiku no Mi), which gives its user mastery over the entire clothesmaking process and its tools and materials.
I don't want to get too much into Cora's backstory here, but she befriended Sanji and thought that he had died, and then her mother died, she helped create and designed the Raid Suits and then she ran away with the help of Reiju at 16 years old. Afterwards, she rose to considerable fame as a tailor in the East Blue, until finally stumbling across Sanji at Baratie, the same day that the Straw Hats also show up there. Shenanigans ensue.
I think, if I were going to describe Cora's personality in only three aspects, it's trauma, kindness, and a huge double crush that she doesn't like to admit. Because not only is she wholly unprepared for Sanji being not only alive but also a pretty and charming young man, there's also a swordsman who she has to stitch back together after a big fight and who she ends up falling head over heels for. The two boys constantly bickering doesn't help much either, and they also bicker over her, constantly trying to out-boyfriend each other. In case you were wondering whose side Cora usually takes in these fights, the answer is: She joins in on the side of entertainment. Whichever side would yield the funnier result. She just thinks their fights are way too funny and stupid. Also, she's constantly touch-starved and also scared of touch. And sleep-deprived. She gets better in the "scared of touch" category over the course of her journey with the Straw Hats, so... Sleepy cuddles. So many sleepy cuddles. If Zoro's taking a nap, she's taking a nap too, no buts. And Sanji eventually ends up with his arm around her waist 90% of the time. His personal space is also her personal space.
So, uh, fighting style! She uses a rapier and keeps explaining to people that, no, she's not a swordsman, she's a fencer. There's a difference. Also, she uses strings a lot, and plagiarizes Doffy's travelling method after Dressrosa. The thing with strings and dyes and whatnot is a whole new can of worms that I won't get into right now but it's super cool.
One more fun fact: Cora is short. She's tiny. And she wears heels to compensate, which Zoro hates because they're not practical at all. Her entire fashion sense gives him minor aggressions, partially because a lot of her clothes are a lot more fashion than function, partially because she looks too damn gorgeous in them and he's constantly reminded of his embarrassing crush and has gotten so distracted by her that he has walked into tables and doorframes multiple times. Sanji, on the other hand, fully supports her fashion choices. Maybe show a little more skin next time..? Pretty please? I have concept art for her and one of the more distracting outfits :)
Tumblr media
The Scout: "Desert Fox" Felicity
Tumblr media
The baby of the crew. Yeah, she's younger than Chopper. Inari is already young, being 14, but Lily? Lily is twelve. Absolute baby. How did she end up with the Straw Hats? Blame it on Buggy kidnapping her and then kidnapping the Straw Hats on top, letting them bust her out with them. Nami and Zoro pretty much become her caretakers on the spot, Nami consciously and Zoro... well... Turns out he has a bit of a soft spot for little scared kids with fox ears. They bring her back home to her "sister" Kaya at Syrup Village, but then she almost gets murdered by a killer butler, and Kaya asks them to take Lily with them, so... Well, she's with them now! Only about a few days later though, one of her caretakers gets himself almost killed and the other decides to abandon the crew. Good thing that Sanji has pretty much decided to adopt her, because otherwise she'd be crying her eyes out.
Lily is actually half mink! That's where she got her fennec fox features and some of her behavioural patterns (i.e. cuddliness, switching between napping and getting the zoomies...) from. But her behaviour could just as well be caused by her devil fruit, because she ate the Jōi Jōi no Mi, which gives her emotions magical properties. Which ones? No one knows! You'll find out when it happens. Pretty much the only really predictable effect back when Lily joins the crew is that she turns back into a nonverbal five-year-old when she gets too scared. She also has a pretty good success rate of turning into a more anthropomorphic fox creature when getting into the spirit for a battle. She's a mink after all, and minks are born fighters! And in case you're wondering: Yes, she does have electro! And sharp teeth. You do not want to make her upset. Best case scenario is that she bites you, worst case is either some magical shenanigans or she starts crying and her crewmates come to kick your ass.
I haven't developed her too much beyond the first season of OPLA, but I just know that she has to go absolutely feral at Alabasta, because that's a fennec fox's natural habitat and her epithet is "Desert Fox", so it only makes sense for her to get it at Alabasta. Also, it would be peak funny for Crocodile to complain to the Marines about a literal child messing up his plans, and peak funny is also peak One Piece, so you best believe I'll do it. Also, her being this young means I get to watch her grow up over the timeskip. I imagine she maybe gets sent to Zou and starts to really master her electro and devil fruit attacks? Something along the lines of "I'm all grown up now! I have my powers under control!" and then immediately turning back into a kindergartener in the face of danger would probably be her running gag post-TS. Also, I'm so soft for her relationship with Sanji. I could go on for ages about Whole Cake Island, but I'll leave it at that for now. This post is already getting long enough...
Tumblr media
The Matron: Dracule Aurelia
Tumblr media
Oh boy, you're not ready for her. She's the daughter of Rayleigh and Shakky. Trans queen (thanks, Iva). Raised as a Kuja, got love sickness just like her mother and fell for a red-headed idiot first, then for a certain swordsman. Ended up marrying the swordsman in the most dramatic way possible. Also maybe the second most beautiful woman in the world, after Boa Hancock of course.
Aurelia is essentially the fusion of a mafia boss, a mob wife, and an Ancient Roman patron. She has unbelievable amounts of money and an invisible net of connections that makes her almost untouchable. She's allied with Emperors, Warlords, kings and queens... Her main deal is providing smaller, more inexperienced pirate crews with her protection and support and getting their services in return, for example as soliders, for transportation... Whatever she needs at that moment. She can be as kind as she can be cruel, and people are generally both in awe and scared of her. Her epithet is "Black Widow" both because of her spider net of connections and because all of her lovers keep mysteriously dying as if through some sort of curse. Mihawk is the only one who has been able to resist that curse. Shanks doesn't count because Aurelia claims she never truly loved him.
One of the places under her protection is Baratie, and so she gets caught up in the Straw Hats' shenanigans. First, Nami asks her for help, then she returns to Arlong ransacking the place and essentially kidnapping Nami, then she finds out that Zoro was almost killed by her husband... Also, Sanji is the closest thing to a son that she has, so Sanji joining the Straw Hats is pretty much the final nail in the coffin to her deciding on her own terms that she's going to protect those kids to the best of her ability. You can kind of imagine her as the rich aunt, but a lot more deadly. Generally, she spends a majority in the story picking up her den den mushi and going "Luffy, what did you do this time?" The boy pretty much becomes her most effective portégé when it comes to expanding her territory, because he keeps punching tyrants and asking her to put the newly freed kingdoms under her protection. She also kicks ass at Marineford, of course, helps protect the Sunny during the timeskip, and becomes decorously unhinged when Whole Cake Island comes around because of her own personal history with Big Mom and "That's my son!" and "Luffy, you are not going to kill an Emperor." - so yeah, she pretty much has to follow the Straw Hats to Wano too, lest they get themselves kicked. She's both the queen of the literal universe and the exhausted mother of a crew of literal toddlers. Or. Well. Children and one supercharged toddler who will not stop causing chaos.
Her entire backstory is so freaking great. Growing up as a Kuja, running away from home because she's mad at her mother for leaving the Kuja tribe, her very first murder of a lover who also happened to be a nobleman, her bond with Iva and speedy hormone therapy, whatever the hell was going on between her and Shanks, her relationship with Mihawk, the whole situation with Big Mom and her rules for alliances, Mihawk literally fighting for her hand in marriage, her meeting Sanji and essentially adopting him... There's a lot going on. Wish I could write it one day.

The Mechanic: Lux Jirou
Tumblr media
Lynx boi! Kuro tricked him into thinking he had Amber Lead Snydrome but it's actually just vitiligo. Used to be a member of the Black Cat Pirates (posing as the mansion's security guard) but liked Kaya a little too much and figured out Kuro was lying, so he teamed up with the Straw Hats to take him down. Also has the worst crush on Zoro and Zoro has the worst crushback, but they're both too stupid to figure it out. He goes by Jirou while with the Black Cat Pirates but starts going only by his last name Lux once he starts rebelling. Ends up joining the Heart Pirates and working as a mechanic on the Polar Tang.
Once again, so many of my ideas for him are more visual because... big kitty! Huge freaking paws! Cuddly cat naps! Involuntary purring because he has a crush and he's a cat and... Yeah. Also, he's absolutely thriving at Punk Hazard. Lots of snow? No problem! Lynx have built-in snow shoes. Also, his devil fruit (Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Lynx), much like the dinosaur SMILEs of the Beasts Pirates, works with Zoan logic. "Lynxes can walk on snow, so they can also walk on water, right? Since water is just frozen snow. And then maybe they can walk on air too if they train hard enough? Because of the humidity?"
Tumblr media
The Siren: Kanyalani
Tumblr media
Also known as Kan-chan, because Luffy is not pronouncing her full name. She's a betta fish mermaid and former slave and joined the Sun Pirates after being liberated. She has a romance with Jinbe which eventually turns into a polycule with the addition of Robin and Franky when they both join the Straw Hats. Kan-chan fights with chakrams and uses Merman Combat as well as some Fishman Karate.
Now for some mermaid characteristics: Since she's a betta fish mermaid, she shares betta fish characteristics. This means that she loves her color when she's unhappy and becomes more vibrant when she is happy. She also has a unique ability. Whereas all mermaids have beautiful voices, Kan-chan's singing can lull anyone to sleep, even in the midst of battle. Also, she's over thirty, so her tail is split, but she has trouble walking, so she practically never does it. She prefers using Bubbly Corals to navigate and claims that her very frilly fin makes for bad legs anyways.
Tumblr media
The Archer: Shimotsuki Kaede
Tumblr media
A Kuina look alike from Ebisu Town who nearly gives Zoro a heart attack when he sees her with her mask off for the first time. The concept for this OC basically came to me in the concept of many What Ifs. What if Kuina was still alive? What if Kuina was even more gender? What if there was a flying squirrel? What if someone pulled a Robin Hood on Orochi?
So, here's Kaede. Regular Ebisu Town citizen by day, dying and mending kimonos, stealing food and shooting arrows at people by night. As Ebisu Town gets the leftovers from the Flower Capital, this also includes the half-eaten SMILEs, and Kaede had the one-in-a-million luck of one of the SMILEs, finicky things that they are, still having traces of the power it once gave. And so, she got the power of the flying squirrel SMILE, making her the "devil fruit twin" of Bao Huang. She practices kyūdō in secret and almost runs an arrow through Orochi's head after Yasuie's execution. She would've hit the bastard too if someone hadn't hit her bow and made her miss.
Tumblr media
The Soldier: Roronoa Sonoko
Tumblr media
Ah yes, the reason why this post took me so long... She just appeared the moment I saw the scene in OPLA where Morgan tries to get Zoro to join the Marines. Because my brain went: Y'know, what if he actually had? So, I bring to you: Zoro's sister. No, not biological sister. They're siblings the way the ASL brothers are siblings. By exchanging sake cups. They got in trouble for stealing the sake and the cups but it was all worth it. What makes the situation even funnier is that Sonoko keeps on telling people that they're not biological siblings but nobody believes her because she's pretty much Zoro's spitting image. And it's her fault, too! Because she chooses to wear those earrings (more or less, but that's a bit of a longer story) and she chooses to dye her hair green! Yes, among the thousands of people with naturally funky hair colors, Kaede is pretty much the only one who actually dyes her hair.
So yeah, she's a Marine! Freshly promoted to Ensign when Koby and Helmeppo join and Garp's protégé. Her sword training comes from Bogard but she uses Two-Sword Style, so it's more her figuring out techniques and Bogard putting up with them. That is until Garp calls on Mihawk to go catch Luffy. Hawk Eyes comes to the ship to say that he decided not to do just that and Garp, as a payment for not reporting this to the World Government, asks Mihawk to take Sonoko on as a student. Mihawk, being Mihawk, is about to remind Garp that he does whatever he wants and doesn't need a deal like that. But then he sees the spitting image of Zoro in front of him and hears the same last name - and he changes his mind. Maybe it's worth a shot?
Following that, I don't have that many ideas except that Sonoko gets a bunch of promotions, only to go AWOL to warn Mihawk of the dismantling of the Warlords system during the Reverie because, at this point, she's far more loyal to him than to the Government or the Marines. She then completely deserts and dashes to Wano to help her brother and his crew defeat Kaido. In the process of the Raid on Onigashima (possibly while protecting either Hiyori or Zoro), she loses an arm and one of her swords and is just... overcome with guilt and shame. So much so that she can't bring herself to return to Mihawk after this incredible failure. Franky does replace her arm with a robotic one and everyone is super nice and supportive to her, the samurai step in and try to reason with her, but she's completely blinded by shame and anxiety. She keeps training, of course, she keepy going, but she just doesn't see herself as worthy anymore of being the student of the World's Greatest Swordsman. But then Mihawk himself shows up at Wano, looking specifically for her and tells her that she isn't a failure, that he's proud of her for her sacrifice for her cause and, most importantly of all, because she kept going. So, all is well and she joins the Cross Guild. Maybe befriends Cabaji, I dunno.

I just think they didn't do Sanji's eyebrows cause they couldn't make it work with the hairstyle they wanted, every Sanji actor looks like a cosplayer, which is not a bad thing when it comes to like live performances on stage or at theme parks, but they're SO clearly wearing wigs LMAO they do not look like "real" people that would exist since that hair (wig) is not natural looking at all (and we all know that Sanji would look wacky with both brows showing, that's why he NEVER shows them in the manga), Netflix is clearly going for realism and Sanji has "realistic" hair which is kinda ironic since One Piece and realism don't really go hand in hand but lol Netflix ¯l_(ツ)_l¯
This same goes for Usopp's nose too, but they have literally NO excuse for removing Sanji's little "beard", that shit should've stayed on since it IS one of the most realistic parts of his design lol but again it's fucking Netflix
Also hot(?) take: I think Oda just designed Sanji to have eyebrows like the spiral in narutomaki cause he found it funny, I think he added the Germa stuff to it later (I think he had a lot of Sanji's story planned out from the get go but judging from his comments he decided Sanji would have siblings much later so I think he also just added more meaning to the brows later)
Anon you cannoooot say "it's just unrealistic looking, all the other Sanjis wear obvious wigs" when Nami and Zoro are wearing the most obvious wigs ever. It has nothing to do with realism, Zoro's hair is bright green for god's sake. If a cosplayer on a $15 budget can add the literal key trait of Sanji's design, Netflix could've found a way to do it on a million dollar budget - possibly even with a more natural look!
I'm not going to lie I'm extremely sick of these excuses that everyone is just making up FOR Netflix, like can we just be in agreement it was honestly disappointing and lazy to remove a physical feature a LOT of people recognise Sanji for. A feature that is so easy to add. You can be excited for it while also going "Wow, that kinda sucks!"
Removing a feature of a character that he's literally recognised for in canon universe, that he gets nick names for and pointed at for MULTIPLE times, is just an extremely disappointing move by Netflix - especially considering it is currently story relevant in the original property right now. They just wanted to make him a conventionally attractive man without any of the design choices that actually make him stand out.
Sanji's eyebrows are also literally meant to be weird, if they look uncanny then that's kind of literally the point. It's why he gets made fun of for them.
Once again, this has nothing to do with the actors at all. They do not control their costumes lol.
Also my hot take here is, if you want to make a show with physical realism, why in the world would you EVER pick one piece to adapt for that 😭

Is it bad that I actually like the idea of Mako being paired with Katakuri. Even if it's just for the sake of plot. I think it could especially since mentally and spiritually she would around the same age as him. But yeah, no to the forced marriage but dating would be cool.
Sanji will still very much be the same as canon but will be a typical anime overprotective sibling in a funny way. Which means he still flirt with Nami and other girls but he will go apeshit on any guy who tries to flirt mako. It goes pass 11 when sanji crappy brothers and father use threats on mako. Although she would still be considered hot so yeah it would probably be worse.
Law would be like- Mako no and put her in room bubble.
Shanks: Dad instincts on boys flirting: I sense a disturbance in force. A boy must be flirting with mako. Urge to kill suddenly rises.
That's precisely why Mako is such a special exception, but also she was the one who was forced to grow up so soon and with how that's such a common situation for many One Piece characters, everyone has their own trauma and is stunted to some extent.
Just look at Boa Hancock, I genuinely think it's so heartbreaking that the first sense of genuine love she feels for a person is because Luffy is the one person who isn't physically attracted to her but also someone who proved to her how selfless someone can be.
Like can you blame her for falling for the guy after all that she's been through?
Anyways Sanji legit doesn't want his bio dad and bros to even look at Mako. Like fuck off, this is where I draw the line. You can treat me like shit, but leave Mako out of this.
Dating would be fine, but Mako is just "bro we skipped everything else let me out aaaaahhhh"
Katakuri is just doing what Big Mom tells him to do, you can feel the relief over Luffy saying he'll take down Big Mom and he just passes out on his back, showing his stomach.
Also fun fact, Mako is like in group actually over 5'0" in height and not that short, but everyone here is tall so it doesn't matter. She also doesn't have the massive one piece booba, but she got leggy and really blossoms in the two year time skip since her time was spent on Amazon Lily, reconnecting to her roots through her mama...oh and Fishman Karate from Jinbe lol :D

One Piece Live Action
I started One Piece LA thinking that I'll just take 2-3 days to watch it.
I binged the entire series in one day... XD
More semi-organized but mostly unorganized thoughts below~
Prior to watching, I had like medium/medium-high expectations for the LA because the trailers looked quite promising and was reading in various places that Oda praised it too. I still had that little part of me thinking that if it flops, then it's okay because surely it can't be worse than uhh... FMA live action (never saw Netflix Death Note which I heard was really bad so never checked it out)??
First episode exceeded my expectations!! I think by episode 4 I was still convinced I wouldn't finish the entire season and still have some to watch the next day, but before I knew it, I was on the second to last episode already LOL. Epic fail on my end for underestimating both the series and my ability to binge.
Cast: I think the cast is amazing!! Going into the series, I wasn't 100% sure about characters like Nami or Sanji, but wow, they were so great. I loved how the actors took in like the "essence" of the characters and kinda made it into their own instead of going for carbon-copy same-exact-thing as their anime counterparts. I think that would have led to more exaggerated/awkward acting which might have been not so good. Like imagine if Sanji was the same exact version as LA, I think I would've been kinda uncomfortable to watch cuz if the actor failed to pull it off, he might've turned Sanji into kinda sleezy/creepy skirt-chaser (works in anime cuz it's funny but in LA, maybe not so much). I found the amount of "comedic" interactions just perfect for the series. The chemistry between the cast was really great too, especially Luffy-Zoro-Nami, the very first members of Straw Hat crew. There were some minor-ish characters that grew on me really quick too even though initially I was kinda meh about them (i.e. Koby and Helmeppo). Oh, another example of a character that was kinda changed/adapted for the series instead of being mainly comedy relief would be Buggy. I really love how Buggy's portrayed in the LA, I would prob say he's my fave villain in S1 lol.
Story: Story-wise, I found the pacing to be just right, esp for S1 with the initial crew and each of their backstories. The amount of plot they covered felt just right imo, esp with first ep of Luffy wanting to set out while he's on his little raft, meeting Koby and sharing about how he wants to his own wanted poster etc, and then we wrap it up with the final episode of the season where Koby sees Luffy off with his Wanted Poster, and Luffy setting out with his crew on his own boat.
Music: I love the music! I loved that one motif that keeps replaying throughout the episodes. I thought it was the same theme, but I listened to the OST after and noticed a bunch of different tracks with that motif playing. It's quite catchy. I loved the moments where they included "We Are"--I legit teared up hearing it when they were setting off with Merry and the music was playing. I never thought I'd get this emotional over a live action adaptation, but here we are.
CG: The CG was also better than expected. Not over the top. I think I was most concerned about Luffy's abilities, but they were done well. I think things to worry about in the future is how they handle other Devil Fruit users' abilities.
Anyways, I would give it like a... 9-9.5/10. There were some scenes that kinda made me go ???? but those were minor things I guess. One was whenever Garp & Koby played Go and the way they held the Go stones made me kinda cringe. Another moment was the scene of young Zoro and his sensei at Kuina's funeral and they bowed to each other. Young Zoro's bow was appropriate, but the sensei's bow in return was kinda ??? when you bow, you usually don't tilt your head up look up at the other person cuz it's kinda rude, so seeing the sensei do that, it's like giving off the wrong vibe. Just itty bitty things that threw me off.
S1 finished strong, but time will tell how S2 will go. Especially for characters like Brook or Chopper... I imagine them to be CG'd in so that might affect character interactions, and if they're not CG'd in, well I hope it won't be too distracting...

#OnePiece #OnePieceLiveAction #Netflix
Hola,
I just watched the new One Piece Live Action series on Netflix and found the show to be quite enjoyable, but I wanted to jot some opinions down. On Saturday evening, I watched until episode 5 and then the rest on Sunday afternoon.
Out of 10, I rank the show 6/10. It was originally 7, but the rest of the episodes changed my mind. And now, here's why:
Luffy is really hard to translate, although the actor did a good job and did his best. However, the portrayal was still hard to get used to. Luffy awkwardly smiled throughout the show in moments that didn't make sense, was profound and articulate even though manga Luffy is considered similar to a "complete idiot with no thoughts", and his fighting choreography was choppy (i.e. punching slow because of the cgi)
Zoro's actor is handsome....and also portrayed Zoro as rather boring. As opposed to stoic and quiet (as i believe he intended), he came across as cold and bland. I appreciate the actor's efforts, but in episode 3, watching Zoro struggle to climb out of a well for over 30 mins...I just couldn't find myself enjoying his scenes (especially because I kept thinking: "isn't Merry's body next to him?")
Sanji wasn't on screen long enough, and respectfully, the chemistry between Sanji and Zeff was lacking. And, there was no build-up with Patty or Carne (who I didn't see), so it made the goodbye scene lack luster. Keeping in mind that this is different from the anime (I understand), the fact that Sanji didn't watch Zoro's fight with Mihawk (something that changes Sanji's mind when he originally refused Luffy's offer) is a little disappointing.
I unfortunately hate Garp (not the actor). Garp being Scottish while Luffy is Brazilian is an odd choice (lol) because they look nothing alike. His obsession with capturing Luffy to "tell him no to being a pirate" is very un-Garp like. And his outbursts and ramblings seemed so unhinged. (Also, am I the only one who freaked out when Garp said he likes his meat "more rare"? Lol I kept thinking he's a cannibal).
Koby is awful--he didn't seem to know what he wanted. The close-up of his wide-eyed spooked face was bizzare. He consistently looked sick lol. Surprisingly, Helmeppo was better, which is nuts.
The hyper-fixation on Zoro's wounds after the Mihawk fight; yes Zoro was injured in canon, but he was strong and recovered pretty well, so him being in a coma was off putting.
The Fishmen! Oh my goodness, they were bad. I understand it is cannon that the Fishman were an allegory for African-American people and their history of slavery but production NEEDED to put hip hop music and sweatshirts/sweats, dreads, etc everytime a fishman showed up on screen? I preface that I hope the actors were properly paid for their hard work, but this was rough. The outfits, the make-up...it just wasn't good. I am sorry.
The things I did enjoy: ~
Sanji's cooking skills and fighting choreography was great to watch and was as close to the material as possible.
Usopp was sassy and funny. Watching him be drunk was not what I thought I needed!
Nami was very true to the character
BUGGY!!!!! Buggy was fantastic. It was a fantastic interpretation of canon Buggy and I am so glad he was nailed and then some! He was intelligent, I liked the changes to Orange Town; he needs to come back! (Just wish ChouChou could have been there)
That is pretty much it. I will support Oda and his dreams by watching more projects he approves. But unless Netflix starts making HBO money, I gotta settle for cuts and changes (and a little dilution). I hope others have enjoyed it. I am so proud of all people who worked hard on it and foe One Piece to break the curse of poor adaptations! Yayayay!!

made peanut butter cookie dough at 1 am and had some epiphanies about one piece and its women.
yknow, before i had finally picked it up i had seen a few posts floating around sharing screenshots of some of the women's designs essentially being like "lol look at how sexist this series is theyre all super busty and have tiny waists and huge hips and are literally clones of each other i cannot believe anybody says this series is good" and i had taken them at their word. i remember talking to a friend of mine whose been into op for several years now and i said, "i know op is really good or whatever but . the women . the women."
and y'know, its not like those posts came to any conclusion i wouldn't have. usually when people design all their female characters like that its uh, its bad. and the gender ratio isnt honestly very good either, lets be real, but. all things considered, one piece treats its female characters quite well, especially in comparison to other shounen.
like even the fanservice is extremely mild - i cant speak for the anime because i havent watched it, but as far as the manga goes, like, yeah we have gratuitous bath scenes but unironically name 5 shounens off the top of your head that dont. there arent any panty shots or groping scenes and even sanji who people will complain about now is. honestly quite mild especially considering this is a 20+ year old series that is the best selling manga of all time. is it good and should we have to deal with this at all? no, but also its like. ok welcome to shounen lol
people who know like nothing about the series like to write the whole thing off as sexist but i would honestly argue that one piece treats its female characters narratively quite well. i mean even in shounen that are typically lauded as feminist and progressive like fullmetal alchemist, how important to the plot are the women, really? like mei and winry are, hawkeye and olivier kind of, you could probably count izumi, and trisha doesnt count because shes the dead mom. and, like, 80% of hawkeyes life revolves are mustang exclusively. i love fma so so very much and it is definitely like One of The Most Pieces of Media, Ever that i will always 1000% recommend and the female characters are Really Really Good, do Not get me wrong, but there is something quite funny to me that the same people who will call op sexist and irredeemable also love fma. and god forbid you bring up a series like demon slayer where the one actually relevant female character could be replaced with an inanimate object for all she actually does.
in contrast, one piece's women are completely and entirely crucial to the plot. without nami, zoro and luffy literally wouldve gotten Nowhere and sanji never wouldve joined the crew and also they wouldve been completely dead so many times over, extremely, and wouldnt have gone to drum island and picked up chopper. without kaya they all definitely wouldve died attempting to go into grand line. without vivi they wouldve been stuck on little garden for a year, assuming they survived, and never wouldve picked up robin. without robin luffy wouldve died and they wouldnt have made it to skypeia or completely brought down enies lobby, declaring war on the world gov, and also literally luffy would be completely unable to make it to laugh tale. without conis like everybody at skypeia would be extremely dead and also probably the straw hats too. and these are just the immediate effects on the plot for just a few of the female characters, let alone all of them and long reaching effects. i dont have time to like sit here and list everything but tldr the women and the choices and decisions that they make throughout the course of the story, not just flashbacks and things done in the past, have huge ramifications for the plot. theyre crucial you literally cannot take out the women from one piece because the story just wont make sense.
and not even just that because the women are actually characters. in a lot of series the author is afraid to give the women flaws because it might be construed as sexist or theyre just extremely lazy writers so they take the easiest possible route of creating what is essentially a cardboard box with the shape of a woman and duct taping either "nice :)" or "hash tag girled boss" onto it and calling it a day. typically all their dreams and aspirations (if the author has been so kind to bestow one or two upon them at all) are directly surrounding their male companions. with one piece the women are actually characters. they have fully fleshed out personalities with flaws and dreams and aspirations that do not revolve around the men in their lives. like there are some, yes, but also like zoro's entire thing was completely kickstarted by kuina, a girl who he could not beat, so like . equality.
and im definitely not saying that the women are perfect because. they are not lol we dont have nearly enough like absolutely stone cold female villains or women who can go toe to toe with relevant male characters and their fights dont get nearly enough focus and so on and so forth, but for all the complaining that non one piece fans do about the female characters theyre actually handled quite well like the least you could do is read a plot summary lol
and sidetracking mildly but it is also very nice to see the male characters do things that are typically perceived as "feminine" and have that be a normal and even good thing to do. like people have talked about it before but in one piece like. everybody cries. its not just the women its not just the young boys its everybody. its good and its encouraged and its ugly crying !!! these arent pretty tears !!!
and even more than that i think is really with sanji recently where after so long where he's taken on his burdens and tried to deal with them on his own and by himself, it is a huge moment of character development for him to finally ask for help. tenfold because he is part of the main power trio, very much the strongest characters in the entire crew. him finally realizing he cant deal with everything by himself and he has friends who love him and he can rely on to take some of that off his shoulders is not supposed to be a moment of weakness, its a moment of strength! we're supposed to be cheering him on! and not even just that - when he asks for help, hes not asking for the help of the other men in the power trio, he's asking for robin!!! a woman !!!!
tl;dr

ONE PIECE HCs: Jealousy Headcanons
This has been done over and over and over and oveeeer again, but here *pushes hcs towards everyone* please have them!! Also, I missed writing stuff huhu. I tried my best so I hope you like them!!
Monkey D. Luffy
Tumblr media
Pre-TS Luffy would be jealous whenever he noticed that you're paying more attention to something/somebody else. He'd jump right into your bubble and do stupid stuff so that he could be the most interesting person in your life again. Like a little kid, his jealousy is harmless. He'd be upset for a while, but once you’ve you given him what he wanted, he'd be smiling again and would leave you in peace. Lucky for you, Pre-TS Luffy is pure and easily distracted so you probably could handle him quite easily. This is mostly cute, but probably could get real annoying especially because you’re not allowed to pull the exact same shit on him. He’d be annoyed lol. Pre-TS Luffy is a child, definitely not yet mentally and emotionally ready for a relationship.
Post-TS Luffy is a whole level different. Even though he's still our bhabie, he matured and has calmed down. He won't be jealous over something like you talking to somebody else, or you reading a book (than watching him run around) anymore. He probably wouldn't be even feel threatened when you get close to other guys. He just have so much trust on you that you cheating on him wouldn’t cross his mind. But, of course, he has his limits. You're his. You swore, you promised to be only his so when other people start getting a little bit too touchy and you’re allowing it, he would snatch you away and he’d make sure that the fact that you're his s/o is known. There would be arguments, but he wouldn't be upset for that long. If you tried to make him jealous, you can just apologize and he'd accept it but wouldn't get why you'd want him to get jealous.
Roronoa Zoro
Tumblr media
Despite being known to be straightforward, Jealous!Zoro is probably going to be the one to give you the cold shoulder/silent treatment mostly because he tends to bottle up stupid feelings like these. He'd try to be chill about it, but seeing you way too friendly with swirly brows (or someone he doesn’t like) will get him worked up but since he doesn't to appear like a pathetic loser in front his you and the others, he'd be like 'meh i'm cool yo'. BUT NO, HE'S NOT. He wouldn't be able to completely hide the feelings of scorn and envy. No matter how hard he tries to hide it, his irritation will bleed through his exterior in the form of spicy words, sarcasm and silence that would initiate arguments. Since he's already frustrated, things would heat up right away and the whole thing would just explode into a full blown fight whether it's in a form of verbal exchange or uncomfortable silence.
Making up is casual? It's weird because no one needs to apologize. Zoro would just walk up to you and start a conversation, and he'd know that you guys are okay if you properly replied to him, and vice versa. It's usually Zoro who'd break the ice first, regardless of the who was in the wrong, but just know that it wouldn't be anything like "I'm sorry about earlier," but be more like "Do we have still have sake around?". It's not like he'd never apologize verbally, though. He just saves it for things that are actually meant apologizing for (petty, childish fights don't qualify).
Yellow ranger Vinsmoke Sanji
Tumblr media
Okay. So, we can all agree that this one would be the most jealous out of these four, yes? Sanji's basically like Pre-TS Luffy but a tad more reasonable. He wouldn't get mad if you indulge in your hobby more than you spend time with him, but he would get upset if you talked too much or acted too friendly with other men. Unlike the marimo, he'd be open about his feelings. He'd rush to your side right away, take you away and let the other guy know that you're taken by him. He'd be very clingy to you and would be showy as well. Definitely, he's not embarrassed to hold you in public and he's also not afraid to do more than shoot daggers at people who looks at you funny (sometimes it's just Sanji's imagination really). Most of the time, he'd be angry at those people but when it comes to you, he'd just be sad and disappointed at most, which only ever happens if he figured out you made him jealous on purpose ...or not, if you're the 'polite' type who flirts back unknowingly or something like that idk. He'd never treat you the way he treats those garbage trying to get your attention like ever.
If a fight broke out between the two of you, Sanji would always be the one to apologize first, usually accompanied with gifts like flowers and jewelry. He'd make up to you even though he's not at fault. You're the most important person in his life and he'd be willing to swallow his every ounce of pride for you. Sanji definitely is that one friend of ours who we give advise about his toxic love life but doesn't ever listen or that one friend who gets back with his ex after a pathetic apology lol. He's just like that so please take care of this baby.
Usopp
Tumblr media
Usopp probably thinks he's no good for you. I feel like he's filled with insecurities which he hides beneath his jolly exterior; these insecurities blind him from seeing his worth causing him to feel undeserving of you. Usopp is strong; he's got his own game and he plays it real good, unfortunately butterflies don't see their own wings. Like any other man, he'd get jealous if he sees you being questionably chummy with some other guy who he views as a much better fit for you. He'd actually be really sensitive about it, and the one who's prone to overthink. He won't get upset, but he'd get really sad. He'd laugh it off, shrug it off but it's not like it's your fault if you find someone else interesting right? Despite being known as a liar, I don't think he'd be able to hide his feelings from you completely, but he wouldn't voice them out either. However, you'd easily see through him. You'd have to be the one to bring this up because Usopp would never do it. I mean he probably would try but he'd be like "You know this guy you were talking to... uhh well, umm nevermind haha," and yeet himself out of that awkward situation. But even when you confront him, he'd initially play it cool but you know that it's not okay- he's not okay.
He wouldn't argue with you about this matter even if you try to lure him into one. He'd probably be irritated if you continued to push this topic, but sometimes insisting to talk about it might be the best choice even if it hurt the both of you. After all, Usopp can't always run away from his feelings and insecurities. He'd want to apologize first, but there would be moments where you both do it at the same time and it's just the cutest and probably the calmest way to end an argument right? He'd need reassurance from time to time so make sure to be patient with him okay? He'd be more confident in time just trust him and don’t stop loving him!!

Can I ask why you like Gin? Do you have headcanons for him too?
Gin is that character I didn’t know I liked till I saw a fanfic of him and was immediately like I love you. His character to me mostly revolves around Sanji and brings out the best in Sanji, which partly why I like him so much, but a lot of it is just his potential!
This is a character who already seems to have some tragic backstory, an established way of life, who tried to fight in the Grand Line and failed, and is a fierce enough fighter to be called ‘the man demon’ and fight against Sanji and hold his own. Yet, we know nothing about him. So free real estate! We know he promised Sanji that they would meet again one day, yet we don’t know when that will be but, hopefully, knowing Oda, it’ll happen soon.  He’s just... his life was so changed by one offer of kindess (Sanji) which is such a thing yet he’s not part of the crew so i want to know what happened to him!!! I guess thats why I like him so much??
AND OH COURSE I HAVE HEADCANONS FOR HIM ! Here you go!!
he becomes a pirate captain of course, and finds a lot of freedom in having no one to answer to. He’s fierce, but makes sure his crew stays alive.
The crew is called the Silver Horn Pirates, a name fashioned out of Gin’s name (meaning silver) and his man-demon persona (Devil horn’s yknow?) Half the crew, and its a fairly large crew, is made out of the strongest of Don Krieg’s men who could stand to still be pirates and face the Grand Line again.
His first mate is Kinzo, and he is unflappable and hardly winces at any degree temperature. The crew doesn’t think he has a devil fruit, but they aren’t sure.  Gin picked him up in Logue Town.
The cook on the ship is Hashi, who does have a devil fruit, which i forget what i made it at the moment but im 99% sure it involved cooking untensils! He was picked up in the Grand Line,.
Gin’s ship is the Silver Serpent and the Jolly Roger is a silver horned skull!
Gin collects Sanji’s wanted posters.
Gin eventually gets his bounty to above 100,000.
He makes a point not to refuse anyone food, as a testiment to Sanji.
He joins the Straw Hat Grand Fleet once he hears of it.
Don Krieg was someone who was like a mentor/uncle to Gin and picked him up off the streets and helped train him.
Gin cant cook for shit but he CAN navigate and helps the Silver Horn’s navigator out when need be.
Gin does not take the whiskey peak path in the Grand Line and instead chooses an alternate path.
Gin likes to read because he never really got a chance to before, and collecting interesting newspaper bits is sort of his specialty now. He’s become his own crew’s intel officer.
His crew really comes together when they hit an abandoned island and get drawn into a fight with a extremely tough to be marine officer. Gin beats him, while the crew tag teams the other officers, but Gin is knocked out for a week for protecting his crew.
This truly solidifes his different nature from krieg for the former krieg pirates and inspires a lot of loaylty in his crew!!
He talks about Sanji. A Lot. His crew finds it funny, but make sure to set up a den den connection line with the Sunny when they finally meet up.
During the two year time skip, Gin becomes a Soul King Fan. Upon finding out that Brook is a Straw Hat, he screams a little on the inside. On the outside he just smiles but rest assured he is screaming.
He’s looking into new fighting styles, and runs into an old pirate who knows a little bit about Haki. Gin becomes especially good in Armament while Kinzo, who usually covers him, becaomes good in Observation. Its no where near the level of a lot of New World pirates, but they are working on it!
Gin’s favorite food is the sea food pilaf Sanji made and he orders it every time they go out to eat but it never tastes exactly right.
Gin hates gin despite his crew insisting it should be his favorite crew.
One of the most persistent rumors surrounding Gin is that he’s out for revenge on Sanji, because he keeps asking about him on islands, and its driving him crazy lol.
Gin hates armor, he finds it very restrictive and it has a lot of bad memories
He wanted to keep his crew small but it kept growing and he loves all of them so he cant exactly ask them to leave now can he?
basically gin is a secret dork and i love him!

One Piece 955: Enma
I took all day to write this up just so much to talk about from this chapter!
Let me just start by saying what a chapter!! 8.75/10
I was not expecting it to drop a day early & had no idea what to expect of this chapter until I saw the title...Enma 🤔😏
First things first. I believe Bege & company just stumbled upon Dressrosa. He mentioned they were stopping there for supplies. I wonder if any Straw Hat supporters are still around and if a conversation will strike up about Luffy.
------
Ok now to the chapter...
It starts off with Hiyori telling Zoro & Kawamatsu that she will not meet up with the rest of the alliance in order to not stir unneccessary emotions before the battle. Her brother stated this before so it wasn't a surprise. What surprised me was that Kawamatsu told the rest of the Scabbards that Hiyori was still alive & well.
Tumblr media
I guess it's a morale booster but I have this weird feeling that something bad will happen to her now that everyone knows she's ok.
A couple random facts about Hiyori:
• She puts up a coarse attitude but is actually a crybaby
• She was a Tomboy who didn't typically speak refined & politely
(So funny how Momo was like, "A flying kick from someone 18yrs older would really hurt." Lol ik the struggle of being terrorized by a little sister hahah)
Now we get to the crazy good stuff!!!
O-Kiku might be one of the MVPs for finding the randomly lost Nidai Kitetsu. I had no idea where it was. Thought Kaido must've done something with it when Luffy was thrown into the Udon Prison Mines like kept it in a storage within the prison or something. Zoro states that he knew it was a Meito (famous/named blade) I guess with Sandai at his side he could feel the cursed vibes.
Tumblr media
Rarely does Oda show us the actual tying of loose ends.
I guess Hiyori didn't go off to retrieve Enma & Orochi doesn't have Ame no Habakiri...Hitetsu Tenguyama had them both the whole time. That's why he had been patiently awaiting the return of the Kozuki Family.
I love every aspect of the design especially the sheath.
Tumblr media
Seems as if both swords are of the same grade level as Shusui, O Wazamono, 21 Great Grade Swords. So Zoro won't be getting one of the 12 Supreme Grade Swords, Saijo O Wazamono, just yet and I'm fine with that.
Hitetsu tells Zoro only Oden was ever able to tame Enma & ODEN MUST'VE BEEN A BEAST because this sword is crazzyyyyy powerful. Kin'emon even said he himself would not even want to take the blade.
When testing out the sword Zoro tried to cut a tree but ended up cut off part of the cliff/island they were all on! Just insane lmao like I was not expecting that much of a power boost at all!
In the next panel we see the blade going black, coating in haki as Zoro's arm is also clad in haki, but looks drained & frail.
Tumblr media
(Sanji's face was hilarious but damn I feel his pain lol Sanji is my favorite Straw Hat & just got a power boost now Zoro's power up makes Sanji's Raid Suit, look not as powerful so I have mixed feelings hahhaha but I love reading Zoro moments.)
So the thing with Enma is that it draws out its wielders haki to maximum extremes by itself. Any average sword wielder would've been drained completely and left dead.
Typically we've seen Zoro have swords with minds of their own but this one is just on another level.
Tumblr media
Zoro yells for the sword to give him back his Ryou and takes it all back. Then we get that crazy Zoro smile like he knows this is going to be a challenge to tame the blade but he's ready to take that on to become even stronger. Hitetsu asks Zoro does he want another sword & obviously Zoro says he's keeping Enma, further impressing Kawamatsu.
[Now the text heavy part because I don't want to make 2 seperate posts for this review and want to only use my favorite images from the chapter]
Robin, Ashura Doji, & Kin'emon are discussing the sheer numbers that the alliance and their opposition have. Seems as if there will be approx. 30,000 enemies on Onigashima vs their 4000.
We then get quick panels of :
Franky yelling at his workers to prepare the boat to hold 10,000 men
(made me think hmmm Straw Hat Grand Fleet's over 5000 + the 4000+ men they already have...maybeeeee *Spongebob voice)
Luffy practicing Ryuo in Gear 4th stating that he used too much physical force
Zoro and Momo training in the forest and Zoro states an old man from his village is where he first heard Sunnachi (Snatch) & this surprises Momo.
With two days left before the raid Chopper, O-Tama, and Luffy return to meet with everyone else & the Yakuza bosses have added another 200 men to the resistance's ranks. (~4200 vs ~30,000)
Kin'emon states there hasn't been any word from Law (it's been a few days since he's been free & still hasn't contacted the group....hmmmm)
Silly Shinobu tells Kin'emon to forget about Law and Chopper has to speak some truth like hey Law is super strong. Law clearly makes a substantial difference, he's a cheat code in most situations!
There are still many men locked up in the Capital that wish to fight. I'm guessing only a few hundred more but still any help matters at this point. We also get to see many of the Wano townspeople discussing Yasu's encrypted message. Of course some still don't have faith but they will be proved wrong.
The alliance splits into its respective groups with the Scabbards, Shinobu, and Momo headed to the harbor, meeting Luffy there later.
Tumblr media
The literature used here to describe the Scabbards and their shadows as the walked was magnificent. I also loved how the spelling for frost was shimo as in Shimotsuki. 🤔🤔
We see Pedro's & Lord Yasu's grave in the graveyard of Oden & his retainers. We also see Wanda & O-Toko shedding tears at theory loved one's graves. Carrot looks hardened & ready to go.
Tumblr media
Hitetsu reveals to Zoro that he was the bladesmith of the Sandai Kitetsu. And states Enma & the Sandai cannot be wielded by the weak. Hitetsu also reveals why Zoro has had a quick take to Enma: the bladesmith who made Enma also created Zoro's main sword, the Wado Ichimonji. It was crafted by Yusaburo Shimotsuki, who fled Wano illegally over 50 years ago. Hiyori probably saw what swords Zoro held (Shusui, Wado Ichimonji, & Sandai Kitetsu) and decided he was worthy of her father's keepsake.
Tumblr media
I just cannot believe that Hitetsu said that IN ZORO'S HANDS ENMA COULD RISE IN RANK & BECOME A BLACK BLADE! So then would it become O Saijo Wazamono???? Hmmmm I wonder.
It seems like Luffy has gotten a hell of a lot stronger! Didn't even get close to the tree and destroyed it from the other side (almost reminded me of that scene in Naruto when him and Sasuke battled on the roof of the hospital haha if you know you knowwww)
Tumblr media
Law is definitely not the traitor. Like it's too obvious. Simply because Oda telegraphed this traitor vibe a couple times;I swear he's just messing with us.
Will Kyoshiro be revealed to be Denjiro soon?
I just wonder how Orochi found out this info.
And now we get a closing to Act II.
Tumblr media
Just an epic chapter.
I swear Oda is hinting that Zoro may be a descendant/relative of the Shimotsuki family along with his teacher Koushirou.
Could even be a family tree like Hinata/Neji but I'm probably reaching there. Very interesting how bits and pieces of his past is flashed in front of us.
I guess only time will tell, but I bet Koushirou's father was Yusaburo Shimotsuki.

Hmmmmmmm I just saw that character ask sooooooooooo Metal Bat obviously alsoooooooo Sanji?? Also hope you've been having a lovely day ❤
Oh my gosh, thank you!! I hope you're having a great day too! ❤❤❤ Here they are, here's the boys.
Metal Bat
Favorite thing about them: UGH EVERYTHING. Oh my gosh. He's just such a great character. 💞 For something specific, I'd have to say how tough and hard headed he is. (Literally, LOL) He's such a great hero for being as strong as he is. And of course...his pompadour. It's a cute pomp, and I absolutely love pomps and the whole Japanese delinquent look. (Badd actually made me discover that his whole character is My Type. That's why I love so many of them in other things! Like Knuckle from HxH!! 😳 A huge weakness of mine.) Oh, and I love his voice. Wataru Hatano does a phenomenal job voicing him.
Least favorite thing: Even though ONE and co have given us plenty of him in general, there's still so little of him. Especially him and his sister. And no merch!!! I would die for a Badd nendoroid! 😭 (Or even the keychain I saw, but it's only sold in a huge box set in Japan. The box set does look cool though.) I just wish there was more merch for him like Saitama and Garou. I'll make things myself if I have to! :'0
Favorite line: "Fuck reasons, it's fighting spirit!" Or maybe "Whenever I'm pumped up, I can handle anything."
brOTP: I feel like him and Zman are great friends through the HA. 💓 He could be good friends with Saitama and Genos too.
OTP: I don't really ship him with anyone.
NOTP: I can see the appeal of him and Garou, but I'm not too into it at all. I enjoy seeing everyone's art of them though.
Random HC: He is a really good singer. I actually think about this a lot!! But I imagine him singing to himself, or humming while he's at the house with Zenko all the time, especially when he's in a good mood. He'd shrug it off if someone told him he was good though. "Eh...'m not that good." 💓 Another huge one is he does girl stuff with Zenko of course. He would go shopping with her, take her out for ice cream and everything. He definitely would do things like paint her nails and fix her hair for her. (Zenko does the same for him when he can agree to it!) And if anyone said a word about it to tease or make fun, he gets pissed even though he doesn't care at all what they say or think. He just tells them to fuck off.
Unpopular opinion: He's actually smarter than he looks. Not a straight A student or anything, but he's definitely smarter than what his intelligence is on the scale.
Song I associate him with: For a favorite Japanese song of mine, it's either I Give You My... or Never be too late by Wataru Hatano. Those songs are just so soothing and sweet, I love them a lot. Never be too late is such a cute song, he sounds like he's having fun singing it.
Favorite pic of them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh I will happily give you two. I couldn't pick just one. 💞 Season one AND season two Badd!
Sanji
Favorite thing about them: He dresses so nice! From what I've seen, he's always in his suit or dress shirts. And I love how passionate of a cook he is. Even having that quirk where he always has his hands in his pockets. He's a fun, funny character.
Least favorite thing: I don't have anything at the moment.
Favorite line: I don't have a specific one, but I've heard my love talk about how he says something along the lines of "if someone is hungry, they need food." He will always offer food to anyone because he doesn't want them to go hungry, and it's really sweet.
brOTP: Him and ZORO, oh my gosh. And him and Luffy of course.
OTP: I don't have one.
NOTP: None that I can think of.
Random HC: His hands are actually very cracked due to how much he washes his hands, so he has to make extra care of them. (Wow this was out of nowhere, but it was the only thing that I could come up with LOL)
Unpopular opinion: I can't think of anything.
Song I associate him with: Why is he giving me Wham vibes?
Favorite pic of them:
Tumblr media
I don't have any screenshots on me since I'm watching the series on tv, but here's a pretty gif of him. ❤

One Piece 892 – Review/Thoughts
I am back with a review for chapter 892 – Recognized as a strong enemy, because how could I not? A lot of things happen in this chapter, and I think it was a really good read despite being quite short. Also a lot of small interesting choices made by Oda that has me curious to see what he’s up to next. On with the review!
Now, of course there will be spoilers under this cut.
Tumblr media
The chapter starts with the strawhats seeing the ship with Sanji and the cake. He brings them hope where they barely had any left, and once again I love Sanji getting to be a last minute savior.
Of course Mama also notice them, or rather the cake, and she turns her attention away from the strawhats. Meaning the plan of the cake has at least for now gotten Big Mom’s threat away from them. Tthen we get to Bege who is commenting on the rather horrible situation the strawhats are currently in; being chased by the whole fleet. He also comments on the Sunny being in horrible shape, something I hope won’t come back and get even worse. Just having Bege comment on it makes me nervous for some reason. Please leave Sunny alone, she has suffered enough!
Tumblr media
Anyways, Bege is preparing his men, and meanwhile what is Sanji doing? Well, he’s turned into a love-struck noodle of course. Personally I found the contrast between serious Bege and dancing Sanji very funny, and I think it’s completely in Sanji’s character to act this way. He’s been thinking about Nami while they were separated and now he’s coming to her (and the others’) rescue.
However, it also takes away a bit of the edge from the serious situation. Sanji at this point can see and hear Bege talk about how bad the situation is. Though I suspect Oda might have done this to intentionally lighten the then chapter. I don’t know, I thought it was funny (for once), but it feels a bit out of place. But I guess Sanji’s job in bringing the cake is done and Big Mom is already be heading that way, so I guess the situation is temporarily already calm enough for him to act like this. Of course he’s also very very excited to finally be with Nami again, something I don’t think anyone could miss.
This is Sanji finally acting like himself again, and to quote Luffy from chapter 857, I guess I am oddly relieved. Especially since Sanji’s love-cook side has been very toned down around Purin, almost weirdly so. And I suppose that is another point here, that Oda might want to show that Sanji won’t forget his nakama and Nami just because Purin seems to like him.
Tumblr media
What I find interesting is Nami sensing Sanji’s love from afar. Jinbei says it’s not haki, so I guess that means Nami sensing it isn’t haki either (though one can always hope). I do realize this is most likely just a joke, but at the same time it is not the first time that Sanji and Nami has been connected through feelings. But it is the first time that Nami has been the one sensing something. It probably means nothing, but I still think it reflects this arc and the developments of Sanji and Nami as we have started to see much more of a response from Nami’s side compared to before. The amount of hearts from Sanji and Jinbei’s reaction is also funny. I look forward to see serious Jinbei react more to the strawhats’ dorky sides.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Prospero is freaking out not sure what to do. To destroy the cake or not? Is it poisoned or not? It’s a bit funny with his spiral eyes, but honestly I don’t like Prospero at all, so I’ll be happy to see him mostly gone from the main action... At least Big Mom stopped her attack and it’s a good thing looking at Chopper’s damaged state.
Tumblr media
Then we have some more serious interactions between Sanji and Bege, and I must say I love them a lot. I’ve always loved how Oda writes them to have this calm respect for each other despite not liking one another, ever since Zou. Bege is an unlikely ally, and as a person or even character I don’t really like him that much, but I do love his talks with Sanji. I am a bit sad that we didn’t get a final fanboy moment from Vito though, as this is their last interaction from what I can tell.
Also, I am a bit curious about Bege’s comment about Big Mom, but I’ll talk more about that further down.
Sanji feels his part of the mission is done and I must say I think it says a lot that the mission was simply to calm Big Mom down, and not kill her. I think Chiffon and Purin still have some attachment to their mother, despite how horrible she can be. I feel this also points at the possibility of Big Mom turning “good”.
Then Purin (who keeps being her split self) calls for Sanji and they head off to the Sunny together.
Tumblr media
Big Mom goes after the cake and we can say that Sanji, Purin and Chiffon has partly already succeeded by simply getting her away from Sunny. I must say I am pretty happy with the cake part being over (mostly), but I look forward to seeing her reaction to eating it though. Also, Big Mom looks pretty creepy in this panel.
Tumblr media
Sanji’s entrance as he finally (after years!) is back onboard the Sunny is great! I really love this panel of him. And the Guruwara crew are all really happy to see him of course. I do think it’s interesting that Brook is so friendly towards Purin though, I mean the others didn’t make a big deal out of the things she have done earlier either, but at least they seemed cautious. This is Brook’s first meeting with her since she turned good again. He wasn’t even there when she came back and got Sanji to bake the cake. I guess the others simply told them she is on their side and he took their word for it, but still a bit odd.
So Sanji is back, and they all feel relieved to be saved from Big Mom. Then what happens?
Tumblr media
Well he gets jumped by the Guruwara crew and it’s so nice to see them all hug it out. What’s nice is Oda showing just how much they have all missed Sanji as well as how happy they are to be saved by him. I think Oda’s done a good job in showcasing their bond to Sanji throughout this arc, especially in Brook and Nami’s case. Of course Nami hugging Sanji is quite a big deal for him, so his reaction is to be expected. That shocked face is hilarious.
Tumblr media
Sanji is sweating, and having Nami looking up at him like that I can’t really blame him. Nami is really cute in this panel. Also it’s something that hasn’t really happened before (at least not since Baratie when they didn’t know each other yet), so I’m not surprised that he would react this strongly from getting a hug from her.
We get a “I love you too Nami” from Sanji, which reminds me of his old “do you love me Nami?”. It’s a small step, and might mostly be a gag, but none the less it’s moments like these and things like the hug itself that keeps happening more and more that makes it seem that Oda might have some intentions with them. I would expect Purin to react to it, considering she seems pretty smitten with Sanji, but this chapter she didn’t really show any reactions. I guess we’ll see if this is something Oda will bring up at all later on.
Tumblr media
Then Sanji is back in serious mode and tells the others that Bege and co are planning to lure Big Mom away. Acting as bait more or less. What I am curious about is why they want to get her to an island for eating the cake? Wouldn’t it be better to give it to her directly? I am guessing it’s for the safety of their ship?
Anyways, Sanji was told earlier that they might still plan on assassinating Big Mom, but I think it’s pretty clear that’s not Bege’s intention. I’m not sure why they lied about it to Sanji, but perhaps it’s because of the usual tsundere reasons that male characters doesn’t want other male characters to show they care/are kind? Or perhaps because they don’t want to worry the strawhats? Who knows. More on Bege in a moment.
Tumblr media
Now, it’s interesting that Brook lied about Pedro (and Carrot). Especially since it seemed as if Nami was about to tell him. I assume it’s because he doesn’t want Sanji to blame himself and pushes it off for later when things have calmed down. We know Brook knows Sanji well and simply wants to spare him the guilt he would probably put on himself. Even though it was Pedro’s own decision to come along I think Sanji still will feel bad since they only came to WCI to get him. I also suppose we can’t really put in a proper emotional (sad) moment in the chapter without it feeling a bit sudden, but still… I wonder what Oda will do with this.
Then we cut back to Bege who is taunting Perospero to make him follow them instead of the strawhats. And as a person who hasn’t really liked Bege I must say these two latest chapters I’ve quite enjoyed him.
Tumblr media
So the strawhats are out of the clutches of Big Mom and Perospero, but then enters Smoothie! Thank you Oda for giving her more time! We also get introduced to what I believe are her triplet sisters, Citron and Cinnamon. I like their designs though Smoothie is still my favorite, and Citron seriously looks like a lemon, lol. But I’ve always liked the long-leg tribe so the more the merrier. All I’m worried about it an all female crew chasing them, since Sanji obviously can’t fight them, he can only defend. This must be an intentional choice by Oda, so maybe he also has some more plans for Sanji’s inability to fight women to be explored even further?
Tumblr media
Sanji and the crew talks about their situation and I honestly can’t believe that Jinbei is surprised that the Big Mom pirates are taking them seriously. I mean, earlier sure, but not at this point and after everything that has happened. But oh well… Oda is really building up the hopeless situations here.
Tumblr media
Then back to Bege and Chiffon again. Is it just me or is this chapter jumping back and forwards a lot? Seriously though, Chiffon is not surprisingly the one behind the Tank Pirates helping the Strawhats. She also calls Sanji awesome. I think it’s nice how Oda shows that Bege really loves his wife, because it’s things like this that make characters more fleshed out. He’s not just a bad person that happens to help the strawhats for the sake of a common goal, he does it for his kind wife.
Tumblr media
Sanji has a plan! It’s so nice to see him immediately step in, take charge and already have a plan of action. I these small moments get me really hyped for what’s to come. I just hope the plan isn’t to abandon ship temporarily (they have the means to since Jinbei can swim/summon whalesharks, Sanji can skywalk and Purin has Rabian with her.)
It could also perhaps involve contacting the Germa66? But I doubt Sanji would be very keen on seeing them again. But no doubt would it make sense in a story perspective to have them back, considering Sanji’s family otherwise seem to fade away a little too easily without proper resolution if they truly have no further roles in this arc. Either way I’m excited to see what the plan is!
Tumblr media
Honestly, the fleet here impressed me. Even though they’re most likely not exactly the top fighters. But I really don’t know how Oda is planning to solve this in a satisfying manner. Everyone has pretty much gathered at Cakao Island, and even though Oven haven’t impressed that much he’s not a weakling, and he’s not the only one there.
Tumblr media
The idea of there being only one mirror makes me feel that Luffy might get out while Katakuri gets trapped inside...
Tumblr media
Luffy gets shot in the leg, and even though Katakuri lets us know that Luffy’s haki is getting closer to his own I really doubt that Luffy can defeat Katakuri in his state. His best option in my opinion would be to flee out the one mirror. But on the other hand Luffy himself was the one stubborn enough to say he wants to beat him and not just run away. I don’t know… I feel this fight is going to require a power-up that might seem a bit forced from Luffy. Either that, run away or somehow he gets help.
Because look at this!
Tumblr media
That wound is not a joke. I mean, Luffy has surely gotten worse through the years, but this is still a big deal. Also I know some speculate this isn’t real, but I really see no reason for Oda to draw it like this and make it a cliffhanger just to show it was only a premonition by haki in the next chapter. He also had Flampe laugh about it, so it feels like it definitely happened. My guess is that the next chapter will show us more of Luffy vs Katakuri and hopefully tgat will bring us clearity to the situation.
Things doesn’t look good for Luffy, but I personally thought this was a really good and entertaining chapter if perhaps a little bit jumpy. What it really succeeded with was to get me excited for what’s to come, something I personally haven’t felt in a while (which is partly why I had to write a review for it), so I really appreciate this chapter a lot. Thanks for reading! :)

Previous years: 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 It is again time for the annual roundup! It feels this was not a particularly good animanga year in terms of amount of series consumed, but when it comes to enthusiasm Attack on Titan has single handedly offered more excitement than anything else in the past... I dunno, 3 or 4 years. Attack on Titan
Tumblr media
Finally ended up giving this a proper chance, mostly by accident, and I'm still in that hole. I'd say that a sizeable amount of my appreciation for this manga comes from how it stands out from all the other action shounen I've read in terms of how it deals with common shounen characters, themes and tropes, but as of late I've learnt to appreciate more how it stands on its own as well. Also as upset as I am that I'm so late to the party at least catching up to happened at a relatively good spot, since I found it was easier for me to get into the new arc without the main cast when I just had gotten some 50 chapters worth of material with my favourites. And with the new developments the wait was definitely worth it, even if I'm as thirsty as everyone else for the rest of the main cast's new designs.
Awards given: Best manga, Best boy (Eren), Best OP that I didn't actually see (didn't watch the anime outside listening to some music), Best friendship (Eren and Historia), Best mentor (Levi)
Made in Abyss
Tumblr media
Heard this got a lot of praise so I decided to check it out too, knowing only that it's supposedly pretty grim. At first it seemed like just a "plucky kids go on an adventure" kind of show, even if the darker elements were always there (like how the main characters embarked on their journey fully aware that they won't be coming back). The upper layers of the titular Abyss felt pretty easy for their rumoured danger level, but when things finally went south they did so spectacularly. Very bad things happen to children in this show! Overall I really liked the Abyss as a location, the characters were great and especially the female characters were way above average (as in, pretty much got treated equally with the dudes).
Awards given: Best anime, Best OP I actually saw
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
Tumblr media
This one I watched just because it looked cute. Which it was I guess, KyoAni's animation is always a pleasure to watch, but I got little else out of it. Kanna teeters between actually cute and manipulative-and-kinda-disgusting.
Awards given: Best cute animation, Best side boy (Fafnir)
Spirit Circle
Tumblr media
Finally bothered to get into another manga from one of my favourite authors, and it was definitely worth it. The story revolving around the two protagonists reincarnating in different periods and often ending up killing one another was definitely something more unique than usual, the plot was well thought out, and the character work was just as great as I had learned to expect from the author (plus the female characters don't suck). On top of it all there is the strange calm and positive atmosphere despite sometimes grim subject matter that Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer also had. The art still isn't that amazing and sometimes the space-time talk gets way over my head but otherwise an excellent read.
Awards given: Best girl (Kouko (and iterations)), Best laughs, Best romance
One Piece
Tumblr media
Not sure if it's because of the quality of the manga itself or because Attack on Titan dethroned One Piece from the top spot, but my interest in OP has waned a little in the past year. I haven't been able to get into Sanji's family drama, and the stuff with Big Mom has raised some good expectations but so far hasn't quite managed to live up to them. However my interest has only decreased in relation to the series itself, and compared to everything else I've consumed OP still stands tall, and Best Bunny Carrot even got to do something so I'm good I guess?
Awards given: Best side girl (Carrot)
The magical girl corner:
Doki Doki! Precure
Tumblr media
I thought this was from last year but apparently no. So here it is, my least favourite magical girl series of all time! Might also be the least favourite anime in general (judgement pending)! Those interested can find a long rant here, but the tl;dr is that the show revolves around glorifying the main character who has no flaws, has no character development since she's amazing from the start, gets all the other characters' personal storylines be about her too, gets the story to bend so that she's always right in the end, and so on. Ugh! Though I must say that at least that in a way the series was interesting in how blindly and confidently it assumes everyone in the audience has the default assumption that the main character is the most amazing thing to ever grace this earth with her presence.
Awards given: Worst anime, Worst girl (Mana), Worst “romance"(whatever it is when everyone proclaims their 'love' for Mana), Worst friendship (Mana being the center of everyone's universe)
Kira Kira Precure a la Mode
Tumblr media
Tried watching an ongoing Precure series this time, and while I'm still some episodes behind it could be a lot worse. Overall a really lackluster season and suffers from the same problems as the other Precure seasons I've seen: generic, unambitious, noncommittal, repetitive... There's very little going on with the plot, and while I do like some of the characters it's hard to care when the show is so adamant at doing nothing interesting with them. However it's still the best out of the Precure seasons I've seen so far properly, which probably says more about the other two's (HapiCha and DokiDoki) quality. And I do have to commend KiraKira for sticking to the sweets theme; at least it's clearly about something.
I've also watched some Go! Princess Precure which blows the other three Precure I've seen out of the water, but I haven't made very far. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it next year.
Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero: Washio Sumi chapter / Hero chapter
Tumblr media
Why is it always the dark magical girl shows that try anything new and interesting!? I find that the new YuYuYu stuff has had some really clunky and awkward direction, stock characters, limited animation and ham-fisted drama, but I still appreciate what it's doing with its plot. Also gotta love the veteran magical girl's reaction to the new magic system which allows them to trade defence barriers for +1000% power: "lol back in my day we didn't have any shields in the first place!"
Awards given: Best magical girl outfits
Also finished Flip Flappers (final verdict: cool premise and looks interesting, execution a little uneven but still worth watching), Punchline (an uneven but still interesting little thing with great character designs), Uta Kata (a slow moving dark magical girl show with some nice ideas, good outfit designs, poor animation and awkward fanservice) and Pop in Q (mostly forgettable upbeat magical girl thing; though it did manage to hold interest for its short length).
Awards given: Biggest WTF (Uta Kata's poorly implemented fanservice), Best character designs (Punchline)
I also watched the second season of Hibike Euphonium, but I can't remember if it was at the end of 2016 but either way I don't have a lot to say about it.
Animal Crossing Pocket Camp
Tumblr media
Good old Animal Crossing in mobile form, there's not much else to it and there's very little to do, but I'm a sucker for collecting and the leisurely and friendly atmosphere is worth it. Seeing Tom Nook ask for real money this time was definitely the highlight even if I'd never pay for a mobile game myself.
Awards given: Biggest Time-Waster (but I still keep playing it)
I've also kept playing Pokemon Go but there's not a lot to say about it, like can you add some new gameplay stuff to it please? Also did not get Ultra Sun/Moon. I didn't care too much for Alola and most of the new content seems to be about the Ultra stuff which is unlikable to me by default; I've never been into the legendary/mythical/ultra/save the world from apocalypse aspect of the games, like just let me train my pets to become the very best like no on ever was.
Not a lot of negative awards this year it seems. The bad stuff I read was just forgettable instead of bad in a funny way or so bad it's fun to hate it.
Plans for 2018:
Finally watch the Attack on Titan anime to catch up with the rest of the fandom and prepare for my favourite arc getting adapted
Finish with the mostly disappointing Digimon Adventure Tri.
Watch the newest Precure as it airs, finish Go! Princess and at least one of the earlier seasons
More magical girls! Maybe finally check out Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card arc, finish Matoi the Sacred Slayer (which has been on my list since 2016...), Pretear, series where the magical girl is a side character (Concrete Revoutio, Samurai Flamenco, re:Creators, Invaders of the Rokujyoma!?)
Finally watch Neon Genesis Evangelion (been working on it since 2005) and finish Gurren Lagann
Finish reading Neuro
Read Sengoku Youko, NaruTaru and Rozen Maiden
maybe get a Switch and the new Zelda and Mario games for it
Maybe I'll get to at least a fourth of these...?
