I am a purely autodidactic painter. It all comes from a pure place and I simply love to put oil on canvas. Growing up I did not have access to any substantial art classes so my experiences with the arts were only as a casual observer and a fan of some of the greats. It did not take long after starting my experience with the arts (15 years ago) that I started to explore still life painting. Many of my early still life paintings found their way to the bottom of the dumpster because in my early years as an artist I would trash all of the paintings that I didn’t personally love. This “trashing” of valuable canvases only lasted the first month or two before I discovered the art of “the cover-up” and how allowing a painting to grow on you. After several years passed I learned that a painting that you don’t particularly love on day one can very easily become one of your favorite pieces, and better yet, someone’s favorite piece. Ultimately, you have to give your work, be you a collector or new artist, time to grow on you and become a member of your family and a mainstay in your home. #advice
