While it wasn't exactly a secret, the way his life had gone, there were a lot of things that Billy kept buried deep. Didn't reveal to anyone, lest it come back to haunt him, be used against him. He wasn't used to letting anyone in past a certain extent, a certain mask...

Somehow, though, Alina had managed to worm her way a bit deeper than Billy had initially intended her to. She'd made him actually care--at least a little, which was something Billy hadn't remembered doing for anyone else outside his own interests in what felt like forever.

Fingers roamed over her skin as the water cascaded down his back, over different scars that came from a life hard-lived. Knives and other blades; bullet wounds and broken bones...

All evidence on his body in one way or another...

1. What is an art/writing trend that you hate?

incest subplots, passionless Hollywood sequels and remakes, formulaic fantasy books that were written for an adult audience but squeezed into a YA format

10. What is your biggest Someday Project?

It changes by the day. I have a couple of YA drafts that are close to done but I’ve been almost exclusively working on an adult fantasy and an adult sci fi for several months now so maybe I want to debut with one of those? I don’t know, I have a lot of ideas and I love them all equally but differently. It just depends what’s popular at the time that I start looking for an agent and what kind of name I want to make for myself :)

She doubts the Sun Summoner, and perhaps a part of Lara always will. The fact that the girl seemed to try so hard for so long to vilify the Darkling just simply does not sit well at all with the Tidemaker.

Fruszi scoffs, shakes her head, as dark eyes lift to meet Alina, standing so close.

❝ Is that supposed to make me trust you? After everything you did, you think you can just come in like this and act like none of it had happened? ❞

Voice lowers as the Tidemaker's fingers clench, as she moves to get right in Alina's face with no fear or concern. Rather, the annoyance and perhaps even downright hatred still shines in her eyes.

❝ He may be willing to overlook so many of your faults so easily, but I will not. ❞

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo 🥀♠️♥️♣️♦️. Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I won’t post the synopsis cuz it has spoilers for the first book Six of Crows, which I’m sure though that most of you have read. If you haven’t, get right on it! This duology is a masterpiece. I just finished Crooked Kingdom and I have literal CHILLS. I cannot get over the ending, or the myriad twists and turns and cons and schemes. It’s incredible. I was totally shook the entire time. (I’m an Econ major and I found the strategy and business mindedness that went into it all really fascinating too lol). The planning that went Into this book, both by the writer and by the characters pulling the con, was so intricate. And the book is also so humorous, I love all the characters, they’re had the worst lives but they’re smart and hilarious. I did not expect it like Crooked Kingdom as much as the first book, but they’re both solid. This book is also great because we get to meet my favourite Shadow and Bone characters again (Nikolai, Zoya, Genya), and Watching them interact with the Crows was just, everything! Im looking forward to starting King of Scars next so I can read more of them. Kaz Brekker has basically been immortalized in my own personal ‘favourite character’ hall of fame. He is brilliant, conniving, complex and a ruthless son of a bitch. But he is also somehow, I have no idea how, totally endearing. Probably cuz he’s taking down and outsmarting realistic bad guys by playing them at their own game... and he’s totally in love with Inej. The knives are an ode to Inej, the wraith, who has her own arsenal of knives named after the Ravkan Saints, including Sankta Alina. QOTD: Have you read the Six of Crows duology?
