@starrology101 Sansa’s going to end up with two grown men who assaulted and harassed her because they’re ugly?
I'm just
not counting this was in reply to a post I wrote in 2021 and like... it's been two years whatever but not counting that if you read it you missed like the entire point and I'm not gonna get into it again but like
nor tyrion nor sandor have ever assaulted or harassed her, like sandor lit saved her from a mob and didn't beat her when joffrey ordered it, tyrion actually tried to stop that and after he was also forced to marry her by his father (when he absolutely did not want to either but hey that wedding was apparently coercitive just on one side??) he made a point of not having sex with her when technically it was within his rights so like........ dunno where you got that notion but that shit didn't happen in either books nor show so idk what to tell you
blackwater being assault is like..................... if you see it like that you can but he absolutely didn't do anything to her, he was drunk, he left and she thinks he kissed her when that never happened so like again everyone is free to be as uncomfortable with blackwater as they wish and I absolutely will not be the person saying you have to find it romantic or suck it up or whatever but it was meant for it to be what makes sandor want to get better and she romanticized the shit out of it after make out of that what you will
'two grown men' tyrion in the books is 24 and sandor is like 27 and no way sansa gets with either of them before wow which means she'll be at least 16 which makes it an entirely reasonable age gap within westeros customs and norms like lit no one thinks sansa should have been with either of them in the actual canon so you do you
'because they're ugly' my pal idk how to explain it anymore when it's obvious in the text but grrm has a thing for beauty and beast narratives, the entire point of that trope is that one of the two isn't stereotypically good looking and certainly that ain't sansa out of whoever else it is and sansa in the beginning thinks marrying a pretty guy is the bee's knees and then the narrative goes like 'yeah all the pretty guys you thought were great are also horrid people inside' and in this kind of narrative the point is realizing that what you thought was a+ in the beginning isn't what you actually want/need so yeah two **ugly** guys that everyone treats like shit because they're not standard attractive and have trauma and so on will be more likely endgame options for sansa's bc her entire shtick is falling in love with someone who's **ugly** outside and not so much inside which neither sandor or tyrion are so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
idk if you read the books but all of sansa's asos chapters + affc ones are her basically thirsting after sandor and convincing herself he kissed her first so she can like tell herself a narrative where *she* picked the guy who was her first kiss and so on when everyone else is basically exploiting her and fucking littelfinger took that like............ that's basic romance novel 101 idk what to tell you take it up with grrm not me
tldr: sandor or tyrion (not both) are the only two characters that are viable for sansa as love interests looking objectively at the narrative, you don't like that go take it up with grrm but I can 100% assure you that either of them is way more likely than the guy she thinks is her brother and is the only one of her siblings she wasn't close to while she was the only one of his siblings she wasn't close to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

re my last rb: my ranking of nami's favourite partners for general illegal activities whenever they hit a new island, pre & post-timeskip, including but not limited to:
swindling
scamming
small-scale grifting
gambling (& therefore cheating at gambling)
small-scale heisting (ones that require infiltration or more subtlety than usual)
ok let's go
pre-ts (pre-grand line):
zoro - it's so fun to get dramatic with him. he's very perceptive, he always plays along no matter what, he knows when to push the intimidation (and is very good at it. eternal attack dog privilege ftw) & when to dial back. he also knows nami best/longest out of them, though that quickly stops making a difference in most contexts
usopp - OBVIOUSLY!! he is quite literally perfect in every grift you can think of. the only problem is that he starts fumbling when the other party at, say, the casino gets a lil too threatening/seems to be catching on. whereas nami (& zoro) chase the adrenaline he doesn't like to toe the line TOO much.
sanji - automatic 3rd b/c she gets annoyed with how he can't function when a hot woman so much as breathes his way (she doesn't even scam other women! not when she can help it!) or if it's a grift that requires him to get the least bit touchy with her. but he IS objectively GOOD at it.
GREAT WALL OF CHINA
400. luffy - she does not let him grift OR gamble with her. subtlety of a fucking toddler. derails every single grift/mini heist. NEGATIVE poker face, ESPECIALLY when he's actively trying. when she's forced to bring him along though he always notices something she hasn't because he is bizarrely perceptive like that, he just doesn't really care. unfortunately this also means he doesn't always care to inform her about what he observes. (luffy: "but you told me to keep quiet!!") he also has really good luck so if he manages to stay quiet and not attract attention he can act as a good luck charm. however that is impossible
(later) pre-ts:
usopp - everything stays the same AND he's getting better at keeping his cool. what's not to love. this is their bonding activity
zoro - nami has learned the hard way that they both CANNOT take themselves seriously for long when they are required to get touchy. he's also demoted bc he refuses to part with his swords, which is really quite inconvenient if she wants him to be her partner for, say, a gala dinner they're sneaking into.
sanji - still 3rd but a closer 3rd now!! stay strong sansan!! more on earlier, grifting with him isn't as effortless/fun as it is w usopp or zoro but that is in no way due to lack of skill on his part. he's not just good at landing a cover; he's strategic like zoro and flexible like usopp. plus, he just FITS into a high class setting with the seamlessness that neither usopp nor zoro have which makes him very, very useful for grifts requiring more formality. however due to his also aforementioned flaws he cannot hit top 2 im (not) sorry...... ALSO! this is partly bc im so sanamipilled but i do think that she's grown to enjoy the touchiness sometimes - and now she can admit it to herself. 's a fun little excuse for her to indulge sanji a bit, especially if their mark for the night is easy
robin - she is last bc she is usually simply not interested in all that. however she will creep people out with her general aura when needed!
post-ts:
usopp - everything is just so easy with him x2. they fall back into their dynamic and it's perfect and even BETTER than before because they're both a little out of practice after 2 years, but they've also both got new tricks up their sleeves. they don't get as many chances TO grift anymore in the new world though. always onto the next big adventure. plus now she's notorious enough that people actually RECOGNISE her in bigger cities/towns (she's not too happy about this)
sanji - he's been promoted :) but also demoted especially freshly post-ts bc of fishman island related crimes.
zoro - he doesn't let nami convince him into grifting with her anymore :-(( but if nami still requires someone to stand menacingly behind her as she extorts some rando then [mbappe voice] He Will Be There No Matter What
luffy stays the same :p
chopper is too young to be engaging in these activities & franky and brook are wayy too conspicuous. jinbei just joined they do not have the time for that shit yet. also i havent read beyond wano

Honestly, it's also always braime shippers that believe Jaime won't be directly involved in Cersei's death because they feel like that would leave a stain on their ship's little romance... Everyone has their biases.
As for myself, I do think he will outlive her and finish his arc in the north, I just very much doubt he will only cause damage from afar. They will need to face eachother again, simply because it would be so unfulfilling from a storytelling point of view to leave all of their stuff unresolved. Especially when this is probably one of the most significant relationships in the series (it literally ignites the entire conflict).
"on their ship's lil romance" first of all, fuck off oh my god. second of all, i ship daemyra, i ship visaemon, i've been known to read a little sansan and jon/ygritte, do you think a little spousal murder or domestic violence is gonna stop me from shipping braime? get the fuck out of here and be serious lmao.
the importance of braime is not just "a lil romance" it is integral to the themes of the books. you can't make the argument that lannicest is one of the most significant relationships in the series and then ignore the fact that a) we do not get the PoV of either character until after Brienne comes into the picture because SHE is ultimately what ignites the conflicts in all three of their characters and b) the themes of knighthood, chivalry, oath keeping, and protecting the weak and innocent aren't also integral to the plot of the entire series when Jaime makes his iconic and character defining "they make you swear so many vows" speech while Brienne is standing there listening to him. If you want me to get into the annoying ass biases, I think it's misogynistic that people applauded the Braime ending of the show when it completely divorces Brienne (and the twins!!!) from the bulk of her story arc, and that chalking up Braime as "a lil romance" is a misogynistic way of undercutting the importance of her identity arc! I'm not discounting the importance of Lannicest, so let's not fucking start with this "my ship is more important than your ship" bullshit.
What I am actually saying is that people take a literal reading of the valonqar prophecy that does not apply to a single other prophecy in the entire series, and I find it perplexing, and annoying, the same way I find the digging in the heels defense of Aegon VI being the mummer's dragon to be perplexing and annoying. The whole series is setting up this idea that you can't trust prophecies and that knowing about a prophecy is often mentally damaging, but the fans (including D&D) just wholesale swallow both Cersei and Dany's opinions on their prophecies as correct and I don't buy that. I also never said the Lannister twins won't meet again. In fact what I said was:
Yeah, I’m well aware of that, I’m not saying he’s doing anything nice to her, i think he’ll have a hand (badum-ts) in her dying, probably enough to feel guilty over it too (plus whatever is happening with tyrion) but he’s not strangling her to death and I simply do not believe he’s dying right after either. What is he doing? no idea. they’re at casterly rock and he uses the last of the conditioner and then he leaves. i have no idea and I think people who are insistent that he HAS to murder-suicide his way out of the story are overconfident af about that ending.
AKA I think it's likely all three of the Lannisters are going to meet again at Casterly Rock, likely as its being destroyed. Of course they're going to meet again; no one serious denies that. But is he going to murder-suicide when they do? I am doubtful. In Jaime's mind, the last we see him, he considers himself effectively divorced from Cersei. He quite literally abandons her to die in a trial by combat to go play in the woods with Brienne. But I'm supposed to believe that he's still angry enough to go all crime of passion on her at this point? Nah son!! Just because he's going to "choke the life from her" does not literally mean he's going to actually choke the life from her, any more than Dany is going to literally fuck up some puppet dragon or Euron literally turned into a crow, munched on some seaweed, and perched on Jaqen's shoulder while Jaqen offed Balon.

I don't ship it but I haven't seen people ship sansan at their canon ages. It's future, until after Sandor is fully changed and Sansa's no longer Alayne or in danger. And some only like the dynamic not romantically so the sansans are more self aware than other Sansa ships.
Well I certainly hope that’s the case, because I’m all about shipping whatever you want with the obvious exception of shipping children with adults.

@cureuba ( cont. )
What had come over her? It had to be the wine. The heady alcohol made the lady of winterfell bold. She had escaped the head table where Jon sat with his men and Daenerys sat with her victory. She would let them have that. She would have this. This revelry. She grinned when she overheard Gendry being teased about Arya. Good. It was about time things like that happened around her. Laughter, it had been so long since it rang through the halls of Winterfell.
She was stepping through a doorway at the same time as Sandor who was coming back to his cups when Sam called out for them to look up. She stared at the infernal weed above their heads. Nerves picked up in her stomach. Who had kissed her last? Who had been her last kiss? Petyr? When he was trying to trick her? Ramsay, perhaps? When he was trying to bed her? Had she ever kissed anyone because she had simply wanted to? No. Now was the time.
Sansa looked up at Sandor before smiling sweetly, "Well..." When she realized he wasn't paying any attention to her, grabbed his collar and pulled him down for a kiss. Oh? If he didn't kiss her back it would be on him. Except, she was startled when he did. His hand unexpected at the hollow of her throat made her gasp. She was sure he felt her pulse jump against his fingertips. Blue eyes soft she shook her head, red locks falling around her shoulders, the way he called her name made her knees weak.
Tumblr media
"It's a tradition..." She whispered, before remembering her place and quickly stepping away. She crossed the doorway and was outside in the cold before anyone could stop her. Oh, no... Oh no... She let the cold embrace her, it would be better than remembering how moments ago, she had kissed someone she had been fascinated by ages ago.

Hello I think I’m really just looking for confirmation that I’m not a creep (this sounds really bizarre so far) but I’ve always had a slight thing for SanSan and I’m literally TERRIFIED of voicing this because I don’t want hoards of teens attacking me. But do you ship it? I guess I’m just looking to see if you (someone I’ve been following for a while and enjoy seeing your views and presence on my dash) also like SanSan because it seems like not a lot of people do. I’m sorry if this is weird 😅
I love SanSan, and yes, I absolutely ship it (my otp remains Jon/Sansa, but I shamelessly multiship so it isn’t a problem). And I can guarantee that a LOT of people ship SanSan, like... it’s one of the ship juggernauts in the asoiaf fandom, and has been for like two decades, I think? Maybe you’ve inadvertently surrounded yourself with a lot of antis and purity wankers, in which case I recommend to curate your fandom meadow more carefully and seek a conversation with people who are on the same wavelength as you.
But more generally speaking, never let the discourse make you feel like a creep for being invested in a fictional relationship that is deliberately written to be deeply, mutually formative for both the characters involved. Not only Sansa and Sandor are integral to each other’s character development, not only Sansa’s influence and her compassion for him has a positive influence on Sandor’s character and started his process of internal healing and recovery from the same illness that is at the very basis of almost every evil in Westeros’ society (the corruption of the chivalric ideal), but this dynamic is also evidently built around certain archetypal romantic tropes that are inherently appealing to women (and have been historically targeted to a female audience)---the same you can find in Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, etc. The romantic vibes are there and are definitely not coincidental.
Does GRRM feel like a creep for writing it? I don’t think so. So why should you, for simply reading and enjoying it? I’ll just reiterate that the act of shipping comes from a place of empathy, not objectification and exploitation (as antis wrongly assume). You like this dynamic because you identify deeply with the characters. You’re adopting Sansa’s perspective and watch Sandor’s metamorphosis from beast to man under her transformative gaze. Empathy is essential to consuming fiction; as for the cathartic joy of seeing a character change and reveal himself little by little to you, the reader, as he reveals himself to another character, I don’t know what people who have never experienced it are doing with their lives, tbh.
tldr; you have my blessing, confused anon.

So are Sansa and Sandor like...never gonna talk again, or what? Not even like a quick “haha we have been through some SHIT since the last time we saw each other, remember how our relationship was super formative, isn’t life strange LOL”
Nothin’? Okay.

But no, really, Nick and Jess are exactly Sandor and Sansa without the violence, age difference, and time period.

Y’ALL out here claiming that sansan shippers want sansa to “reward” sandor for saving her or that she ~owes him~ for helping her need to stop making shit up. this whole saving thing was a two-way street; sandor saved sansa, sansa saved sandor. and sandor got his reward: he got therapy and a redemption arc, thank you sansa stark.

I know it's been a long time, but do you plan on writing Sandor's pov of the Heart Thing series? I'm poor, so I won't commission the fic, but I wanted to at least know how you think he'd deal with it (ex, would he hide and try to ignore it, would he try to be a better person, whisper almost-kind words to it when Sansa is sad?)
hey anon, first of all thank you so much for the kind words and please no need to commission anything like I'm just glad people still remember it T_T
that said with answers for both your questions:
yes I do plan on writing that but when it happens is... up in the air because meh like I'm trying to not sound whiny about it but if it wasn't clear from my less than stellar production lately my mental health has been completely down the drain lately and as it is rn I'm finding it extremely hard to put words together unless I have an extremely hard deadline and as it is I'm trying to finish a bunch of comms that I started but I'm like really struggling with liking anything that I write so tldr: yes but it could be three months from now and it could be next year, sure af I hope it's sooner rather than later because I really don't relish any of this but eh T_T
how he'd deal with having it: first time it happens (which would be after they get together which like.. he can't actually deny it's A Thing yknow she got his so) he thinks he someone went on a bender and forgot even if he tried to cut down on the drinking and then he's like oh god nope it's really here what the fuck and immediately gives it back to her like IM NOT WORTHY HERE, she's like yeah okay sure but I don't think it's gonna end here (she's fine with it), the second time he gets it is when she's sad for some reason and she's not nearby so he has to take care of it and actually worry about it and he's like god what do I do and just keeps it close and tries to not make anyone notice, then it happens again when something bad happens to her and she's not immediately nearby and as you said he tries to tell it something nice which for his standards would be weird but it actually works because she actually feels better and then she's all smug when she tells him and he's like wait what are you fucking kidding me
and she's like sure I'm not :DDDDDDDD
so pattern he always gets it when she's sad or down or has dealt with crappy people and so on and at some point he just embraces it like yknow what I denied it for ages but it makes no sense that I should now oKAY FINE I'M NOT UNWORTHY OF THAT
sansa is just :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD for the entire next month and robb's like did you just propose her or what NOT THAT I'D SAY NO AND NOT LIKE SHE DOESN'T WANT IT sandor is like maaaybe that's uh for another time MAYBE
he probably springs the maaaybe weee should make it official thing not long later tho
robb is just extremely happy of how he matchmade half of this union XD
ngl there were things I wanted to do in that verse including the throbb fic and sansa meeting brienne like you were my role model too but eh as stated at this point I'll be just glad if I manage to finish my commission backlog and/or literally anything that won't feel like crap after five lines so i can't guarantee it's happening at any point soon, sorry anon T_T

[💕 Send me a ship and I’ll tell you the first 5 things that come to mind when I think about it 💕]
(at least i assume this isn’t the “things you want to know about me” meme lol)
a yin/yang thing, which is a dynamic i’m normally into
but in this case it’s super conventional hypermasculinity/hyperfemininity which leaves me feeling pretty bleurgh tbqh which is why i can’t get into it
also the princess/loyal dog-knight at her feet trope leaves me so cold you might call me frozen (i don’t like it in j0nsa either whoops)
but i have gone looking for fic before, it’s Very Good for certain tropes and kinks um
i also can’t get that into it because i don’t care much about Sandor, he’s one of a number of male characters who i would probably like more if he had a POV but he doesn’t and i don’t so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oops it was not directed at you lol. The one who sent the ask pissed me off when they clearly always want them to be together in canon. Sorry I didn't make it clear. And yes Sansa is literally shipped with everyone. But at the very least they don't claim it's canon or some other nonsense. That's how low the bar is.
No worries, for the most part I didn’t think it was directed at me, I just have absolutely no idea what the deal with Sansan is so I can’t speak to it or it’s fandom either way.

(SanSan anon again) You’re totally right I don’t know why I let purity wankers get to me. If I enjoy it I should enjoy it and not let anyone take that from me! Do you know any SanSan blogs or just blogs who don’t hate it so I can fix my fandom meadow haha ☺️
Okay I don’t follow any specific sansan-centric blogs but I will definitely rec my friend @janiedean (for starters), @nobodysuspectsthebutterfly, @bluelemonsforever, @bitchfromtheseventhhell, @lyannas, @pretenderoftheeast, @corseque; those are just a few, for more blogs to follow just go in my sansan and sansan meta tags and take notes of the urls of the posts.
Also, Asoiafuniversity has a very long Sansan tag and Sansan content is completely welcome there.
