@sassandsnapshots sent "You're not a burden. Let me help carry the weight."
Pike didn't understand himself fully how he came out the other side of his accident alright.
Well, alright was a very broad term, he still sustained life altering injuries due to the accident, but it was no where near the severe future he had been shown. Many of his organs were no longer his own, burns covered 80 percent of his body but the doctors were able to put a chip in his brain that allowed him to speak, and the work had begun on his spine as well.
He should be dead, but somehow he wasn't, he knows he should be thankful for that, but this was the part he always hated of any injury, the feeling of being a burden, not being able to take care of himself, having to rely on those around him to help him get through the day. He didn't want that for anyone, especially not Andie. He knew Andie loved him, that was never a question, but he knew in time, she would resent him for allowing her to stay.
"I can't ask that of you, Andie," he said hoarsely, "I wouldn't ask that of anyone."

"Fuck..."
Information was valuable. It would mean all the difference in survival. Ross and Jack both treated information the same way they did when they were active hired men. The difference between them and Merlin...well, they already knew things. They knew how to read between the lines...and had more authority and power that when they ask a question, they get a direct answer.
Merlin was a kid. In attempts to parent and keep him safe...they do a lot to protect him from what they think is harmful information.
But they do go about it to some extremes. The enemies both he and Ross have made over the years aren't something to scoff at. Moving, despite how ideal the place they tried to live in was, meant living another day. Living another day was his core goal since learning about Merlin.
Adjusting and adapting while still knowing the things of his past weren't all taken care of...it was hard. Not an excuse...not anymore.
"I'm sorry. I'll talk with him. Is he...? He must be very upset if he lashed out at you. He cares so much about you...the thought of not seeing you again must have really...was there fire?"

"I am simply trying to help." Spock replied and looked at the shelves when she opened the door. "Why do you keep this jar out of your own reach?" He asked, reaching up to get it down before handing it to her.

Technically, they had the funds to open any sort of business they wanted. If he wanted, Jack could have a high-end pub with the kitchen of his dreams. But they carried a lot of noise and needed to lay low. Income had to come from somewhere legit, so they owned a bar that for the time sold crap beer and pork rines with a loft area above.
With their magic, it was a lot more posh than what anyone would think possible, as well as baby proofed for Merlin. The roof became Jack's garden where he obtained the ingredients to brewed up anything and everything.
The 'Mercenary for Hire' part of his life he expected to keep on the back burner more as Merlin got older, but life was...complex. And full of assholes. He was one himself, but he liked to think he had some charm that made him tolerable.
But then there were assholes like Ian. The husband and father of Merlin's new friends. Greyson was the only kid who didn't mind Merlin's weirdness and didn't rile up his anger(which given he can literally combust into flames was a huge positive).
Ross saw a lot of the signs on Andie and the kids. Coming from an abusive home with a cruel father himself...he takes these sorts of things personally.
It being summer, with the crap hole they had to pretend to struggle to keep, only had electric fans and open windows for a breeze to keep them and the patrons cool. Jack and Merlin's fire elemental cores made them adaptable to the heat while Ross kept himself cool by enchanting his clothing.
So it alerted Jack very quickly that there was a problem when suddenly their bar turns icy. Literally. Frost gathered on the window edges and glasses, some patrons thought they saw their breath before Jack was placing a hand on his shoulder as well as sending out a counteractive heat wave to reset things.
Ross didn't care about the discomfort of other drunkards at the moment...not when Ian walked in.
"You're not killing him here, Ross. We don't need his rotting corpse attracting rats."
"You're not really going to serve him are you?" Ross demanded.
"If you want to avoid accusations once you do what I know you're going to do, I have to. I'm a struggling single father who's trying to make a risky venture work with his best friend...we're new to the neighborhood. Eyes are on us...we have to play it cool. Not icy."
Ross knew Jack was right. He hated it but knew he needed to be careful, for all the innocent parties involved.
"Just make sure he's too drunk to do any damage once he leaves here."

There’s a large box on the coffee table, filled with all manner of things. Designer bags customized the way Andie knows Donna likes, a new dress in Donna’s best color, and gift basket full of spa goodies.
The card attached read:
“Since we both know I’ll set fire to the kitchen, I’ve gone out to grab breakfast from your favorite place. I love you and l’ll be home soon, love Andie.”
Donna smiled as she finished reading the card. She placed it down and carefully opened the box to see the many objects tucked inside. She beamed, Andie knew her so well.

❛ are you still mad at me? ❜
Geralt exhaled and looked at her. "No, I'm not." He looked at her, smiled softly, and drew her close to him. "You just ... scared me. I'm sorry I got angry."

"What?"
Tony had been utterly lost in his thoughts, not even realizing that he had just stood there and stared for quiet a while. "I am sorry, what was that you said?" It was clear that he hadn't listened at all.

@sassandsnapshots liked for a starter!
It was rare for Pike to be planetside anymore, let alone with any leave. He had felt like he had been going and going for at least the past year; so to have some leave that actually allowed him some time at home was even more rare. Deciding to go out to the shops, he saw a photo gallery and walked in, deciding to get some art for his office at the academy.

The world would be doomed if Andie and Ala ever decided to sexualize older men together. They’d be unstoppable menaces to society, even moreso than they are now.
Imagine their combined power. They'd be unstoppable, that's why we had to nerf them, for the sake of older men everywhere.

For every ☼ in my inbox, the muse has to tell you a fact about the mun. // accepting!!
"Hey, Andie and Andie-mun! We miss ya!
Three more facts about our goblin girl? All right, well she loves a good KBBQ outing. Just make sure that she doesn't eat too much rice otherwise she'll internally cry about not bein' able ta eat more meat. Her favorite's the red wine pork belly and she will always tell ya that she wishes that she could keep the smell of it as a perfume.
Skye/Bourbon's aah.... Unfortunately she can get a little tunnel-vision— Well, nah a lot of tunnel-vision really. It's been an issue she's tryin' her best to work with, because whenever she's able to apply it into somethin' that needs ta get done? Poetry in motion.
According to a lot of people, she gives good hugs. Like, great hugs. The kind that really makes ya feel good after a long crying session and ya just need that little bit of care to help ya come back. It kinda surprises her whenever she's told that, but it makes sense, y'know? She jokes around that she didn't get a lot of affection as a kid, but it's sort of true. So in a way, she's giving the comfort she wished she was given while receivin' it as well."

Spock was confused by her reaction. Surely what he said wasn't that bad, right? He wiped sweat off of his face with the back of his hand and looked at her with an eyebrow raised. "Yes. You look quite comfortable in that position."
"Apologies, did I say something ... I was not supposed to?"
