Flash Thompson post-KiB Guide
So, since April 2021, Flash Thompson has been back in action! Sort of. Intermittently. It was a long 1,043 days, but he finally came back to us in Venom (2018) #34. So, what's he been up to since busting his way out of the ground? Well... why don't you take a look for yourself?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Venom (2018) #34 (Cates, Coello) ...okay, he was actually buried in NYC in Amazing Spider-Man #800, but I suppose we can't nitpick)
After his resurrection, he appeared briefly as Agent Anti-Venom in Venom #200, musing over the details of his resurrection...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...and that led directly into Extreme Carnage. The order for that event is as follows: Alpha, Scream, Phage, Lasher, Riot, Toxin, Agony, Omega. Extreme Carnage reunited Flash with Andi (as Scream, and then Silence) and essentially has Flash in full Symbiote Rights™ mode, unless you're Carnage. Because fuck that guy.
It's not my most favorite event in the world, but it's probably the best Flash content you'll get for him post-resurrection. It's pretty fun though, and worth a read.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that, his next big appearance is in Savage Avengers (2022) #1-10. He's part of the main cast and team, so technically it's the most content we see for Flash since his resurrection, but it's a bit of a mixed bag. Pepose's Flash isn't awful, but he's nothing to write home about. The most interesting bits are the Anti-Venom Symbiote seemingly gaining some sapience, and Flash's short-lived romance with Tandy (Dagger).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interestingly, the first issue of Savage implies that Flash has been in contact with Liz Allan again, presumably since the events of Extreme Carnage. Beyond that, we get to see the dragon form of Anti-Venom again, and he takes on a more classic appearance better resembling John Romita Jr.'s origin design for Anti-Venom back in New Ways to Die. It's not known if the Anti-Venom will maintain its seeming sense of self, but we can hope!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beyond that has just been bits and pieces of content for him. He had a decent supporting part in Amazing Spider-Man #900, but he also didn't have any chemistry with anyone, so it probably ranks at the bottom of my list for post-resurrection appearances. It also doesn't determine whether or not Flash remembers about the identity reveal exactly 100 issues earlier so... (tosses hands up)
He also cameoed in Dark Web #1 at a memorial for Harry Osborn, lingering near Liz. Curiously, in Dark Web, Norman Osborn was just outside, but for whatever reason Flash didn't react whatsoever to his murderer being about thirty feet away, so, it is what it is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beyond the above it's all been little spot cameos and mentions of him. There was a little teeny tiny mention in Venom (2021) #11, as well as in the 2022 Venom/Spider-Man Free Comic Book Day issue (he's on Dylan's team, with those swords apparently ready to stab the shit out of Lee Price. at least I'm hoping).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also got the world's tiniest but MOST IMPORTANT mention in Red Goblin #5 as long as you can overlook Stanley Osborn being white (head in hands) but the important thing here is UNCLE FLASH. I'm crying. He is Uncle Flash. Was it Uncle Flash calling? No. It was Cletus Kasady. But that's not the point!!!! He's Uncle Flash!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
The best we can honestly hope for at this point is that Flash appears in either the current Carnage event (Carnage Reigns) or in whatever they've got going on in Venom. I personally would like to see him rejoin the cast of Amazing Spider-Man, but maybe given the current writing staff he's better off away from that.
We do know for sure he's in Extreme Venomverse #3 (out 6/14) but it's not really Flash, it's a Flash from some other universe. Still, we will take our crumbs with gratitude because that's all we're getting right now.
Tumblr media
I'll update this as more becomes available! Which will hopefully be a lot! Stay tuned, true believers!

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
October 4th - Agent Anti-Venom
Eugene ‘Flash’ Thompson grew up in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, New York.  He suffered physical abuse at the hands of his alcoholic father throughout his childhood and adolescence. Proving a tremendous athlete, he earned the nickname ‘Flash’ based on his quickness on the football field.  Struggling with the abuse from his father, Flash ended up something of a school bully, frequently tormenting fellow student, Peter Parker.  This was an ironic matter in that Parker was secretly the super hero Spider-Man, whom Flash greatly idolized.
Flash grew out of his bullying ways and he and Parker would end up close friends.  After college, Flash joined the Army and was stationed in Southeast Asia.  Following his tour of duty, Flash struggled with alcoholism and was involved in a terrible car crash that left him in a near-vegetative state.  Flash eventually regained his full faculties and became a gym teacher at his old school.
Some time thereafter, Flash returned to the armed services and earned a Medal of Honor in a mission where he was severely wounded and lost both of his legs, amputated at the mid-thigh.  during his recovery, Flash was selected to participate in the secretive military program called ‘Project Rebirth 2.0’.  Herein, Flash was bonded with the Venom symbiote.  The symbiote accepted Flash as its host and imbued him with tremendous physical abilities (including growing him new legs).  The symbiotes refused to bond to any other candidates and the program was shut down, yet Flash continued on as ‘Agent Venom’ and had numerous adventures.  He would later become a member of the Secret Avengers and also briefly served with General Ross’ Code Red Thunderbolts squad.
After returning to Earth following a stint in space with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Flash lost the symbiote.  He ultimately gained a new symbiote companion and became known as The Anti-Venom.  He perished at the hands of the Red Goblin, yet Flash's consciousness survived in the Symbiote Hive-Mind.  His body was later resurrected, returning him to fighting form as Agent Anti-Venom.  Since his resurrection, Flash has been able to unlock the upper limits of the human/symbiote capabilities.  More recently, Flash has joined the Savage Avengers.
Versions of Flash Thompson have featured in a number of the Spider-Man films, portrayed by actors Joe Manganiello, Chris Zylka and Tony Revolori. The hero first appeared in the pages of Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962).

#and his BORING resurrection 🙄 sent me into space
Hey MC! I know this ask is like over a month old, but it's in reference this post re: Flash Thompson's resurrection and I'm still thinking about it.
So, like, since Flash officially came back from Klyntar-hive-limbo in Venom (2018) #34, there really hasn't been much exploration at all on how he's been handling it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Venom #32, #34; Cates, Coello)
He's been around, yeah, with a small part in Amazing Spider-Man #900, a cameo in Dark Web #1 (which unfortunately did NOT include him beating the shit out of Norman Osborn), and of course fairly heavy involvement in Savage Avengers and Extreme Carnage... But even in the latter two, it feels bland? Like how is this man just so chill about what's happened? He was dead. He was fucking. Dead.
I'm thinking about it because I recently started reading the fantastic Iron Man (2020) run by Chris Cantwell & Cafu, et. al, and it DOES actually address Tony coming back from the dead and how he's going through this big personal crisis. It's really wonderful and it honestly has me a little bit salty that we've had Tony and Flash in the same room and neither of them have mentioned the fact that they were both dead during the same period of time. Like, y'all are just not going to mention it? At all?
More than that, his reunions haven't been much to write home about. The best one so far was definitely with Andi Benton in Extreme Carnage, the one with Peter in #900 was laughably bad (ntm Flash kinda looks like a discount Eddie Brock which is, uh, jarring to say the least), and even though he had this big conversation with Eddie in Venom #33, they haven't crossed paths even once since then.

(Top: Extreme Carnage, Bottom: ASM #900 and Dark Web #1)
On the note of Dark Web, it is actually kind of legitimately upsetting to me that we haven't gotten really anything about Flash's reaction to Harry dying while Flash was still, you know, dead. This is the second time Flash has had to endure the loss of one of his oldest friends, and we just get nothing? At this point we're going to get to Harry's next resurrection before Flash says anything about it.
I will, actually, give this to Savage Avengers. There's a little bit of.. hmm.. shall we say, reading between the lines for it, but there's this little insight from Deathlok (Miles Morales... it's a whole thing) about Flash and how he kind of jumped headlong into his dalliance with Dagger (Tandy Bowen). It's not much, but it's something, and it does do something nice as far as explaining why he would do something kind of impulsive after having been, you know, DEAD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Savage Avengers #5, #9, and #10)
Anyways, I think that for Flash's resurrection, he and Tandy and Ty should have a threesome. It would be fun. Rivals to lovers or something.
Tumblr media
(Savage Avengers #8)
Overall, I've been disappointed by the Flash Situation since his return, and while I'm glad he's back, I do sometimes wonder if a few more years in the ground wouldn't have hurt. At least let there be consequences to his return! I also wouldn't complain if he stopped being Anti-Venom, but that's another rant you can read here.
Thanks for the ask and giving me an opportunity to go off about something I've been thinking about for almost exactly 2 years!
