Some miscellaneous first thoughts on the first two episodes of OMITB S3 (spoilers):
I did not like it when the mother and son kissed on the lips.
They’re definitely carrying on the parent-child relationship theme from last season. (Loretta’s audition, Mabel talking about her mom, the above, etc.)
I also wonder if there might turn out to be a sibling relationship theme, since Ben has a brother that worked with him, then there’s the whole unexplored Theo and Will thing.
Mabel’s loneliness arc makes me : ( but I also kinda love it.
And I like that her apartment feels so impersonal and empty now. Great set design.
( ^ but god her and Theo are the same. They should start making out. That would fix all their problems I think.)
The trio’s relationship does feel threatened, even though I know they’ll probably come away stronger for it. (Or rather, Mabel’s relationship with her old guys feels threatened and I feel bad for her. Oliver and Charles still ‘‘hang out all the time.”)
Don Darryl Rivera was great in his role.
Interesting to see Charles react to getting kidnapped and almost murdered. He was weirdly calm about it but in a way that made sense?
Aristotle Brazzos.
I wonder what the plot of Splash was supposed to be.
I wonder if the theater building is going to feel like a character the way the Arconia feels like a character.
Oh, and I noticed that in the intro Bunny was replaced by Howard walking his cat.
