Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot
2018 Olympic gold medalists, 2018 World champions
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aljona has a very strong Mars/Pluto conjunction in her chart in Scorpio, which is willful, driven in the extreme, action oriented and can have an uncompromising, at all costs vibe. But Bruno is an Aquarius with moon in Libra and a retrograde Mercury in Aquarius- he would rather get along, try to understand each other. Aquarians don't like being told what to do and would be more likely to get stubborn and want to rebel against demands.
In the composite chart for their relationship, Aljona and Bruno have a T-square with Sun opposing Mars, both squared by Pluto.
Tumblr media
Sun and Mars are the planets representing the ego, Pluto is about power, Mars is anger and action, and a T-square has only hard aspects:
Sun opposite Mars: you're competitive, argumentative, with a potential for ego clashes. you have very different energy levels and paces, which cause conflicts. the energy can be harnessed to spur each other on to accomplishments, but either one trying to coach the other would cause fights.
Sun square Pluto: power dynamics are front and center in the relationship. one or both want to change things about the other.
Mars square Pluto: potential for fights, blow outs, or using a lot of energy proving you're "right." But the tremendous energy you generate can be channeled towards a common purpose to accomplish a lot.
So together you have both the power to do great things but the dynamic to clash and explode if egos aren't contained.

“ if you fall, I will be there.”
Hi, guess who is back in their ice skating obsession era? It's me! Haha, I only skated once but always wanted to be as graceful and elegant as them.
The other day I watched this couple Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot who competed for Germany in the Olympics.
youtube
Their performance amazed me, and I took one of their poses and drew Royai as them

Here is another version, it was such a quick drawing- nothing fancy, but it was fun

Top 10 favorite skating programs, in order
In honor of the best time of the year (OUTDOOR RINKS OPENING!) here's my top 10 favorite skating programs.
Savchenko/Massot - La Terre vu De Ciel (just the platonic ideal of pairs skating to me.)
Duchesnay/Duchesnay - Missing
Pang/Tong - Don Quixote
Yu / Zhang - Swan Lake + Star Wars (2018, can’t chose, won’t chose, Xiaoyu Yu deserved so much better.)
Satoko Miyahara - The Planets / Star Wars (I do not like star wars but I love star wars programs?)
Jason Brown - Sinnerman
Wakaba Higuchi - The Lion King (nothing but the best for my OGM)
A 3-WAY TIE - Kaori Sakamoto - The Matrix, Carolina Kostner, Mozart Concerto No 23, Michelle Kwan - East of Eden
Delobel/Schoenfelder - The Piano
Sui/Han - Rain in Your Black Eyes (I miss them, I miss them so much)
Honorary Mentions Caroline Kostner - Ave Maria Guignard/Fabbri - My Love Will Never Die Mao Asada - Rach 2 and Masquerade Waltz Michelle Kwan - Fields of Gold Shibutani/Shibutani - Fix You (I’m so basic, I love this program so much, it slaps) Gilles/Poirier - Hitchcock

A goodbye
After almost 12 (!) years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to this blog. It will not be deleted though.
Here’s a (pretty rough and I’m sure not full) list of skaters featured here. They’re listed in alphabetical order by the first name (so “Ashley Wagner” is under “A” and not “W”). I know it’s not the correct way to do this thing but it was easier for me. Also, if you can’t find someone, try searching within the blog or just general Tumblr search.
Thank you for the company and bye!

I’m surprised that I don’t see more Sonic characters drawn ice skating or an au made about that.
The outfit is from Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot’s Pair Free Skate in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics.

what do you think about dnf as aljona savchenko and bruno massot at the 2018 olympics?
I watched that program yesterday for the first time it's soo beautiful. i think for dnf it's like suuper pretty but needs a bit more funsies
tbf in general I'm not thinking on pairs for dnf (just dance) cause i think on them as single but getting to practice together an exhibition for fun

Aljona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy back together as coaches in Chemnitz, Germany!
They will train skaters together in the places they trained for their past victories. The only title they didn't win as a Pair together was the Olympics title. This reunion is good news for dying figure skating in Germany.
I personally have mixed feelings about Aljona's personality because of the latest part of her active career and her excuses, but from a skating point of view I always loved her as a skater. Devide the skating from the skater, this is how I still enjoy past programs of Aljona with both former partners Robin and Bruno Massot.
I was a huge fan of Aljona and Robin back when they were active and they were one of the reasons I became a figure skating fan. So for all mixed feelings, they will always have a special place in my heart.

about winning at all costs (examples from figure skating)
there is valieva (it could have been be any girl, really) who has been doped by her team to win at olympics
there are wada and isu and cas, who let her compete to avoid 'irreparable harm', even when it has become clear that she is doped (it doesn't look like winning, looks more like A LOT OF bribery)
there is rusada, who says 'no fault of hers' in doping, just to keep that olympic gold medal
bruno massot talks about aliona savchenko, and how traumatizing it has been to train with her
gabriella papadakis talks about her mental struggles and lack of team support
fascinating, how people reach the point when any cost is acceptable
reminds me that one part in memory by lois mcmaster bujold, where miles comes to the conclusion, that sometimes the cost is too high

German here, of course I was glad Aljona and Bruno won gold in 2018 but my heart broke for Sui/Han, they were so good!! I'm beyond happy they finally got what they deserved this year, peace and order have been restored to the universe and all is as it should be for once (also well done Tarazova/Morozov, you redeemed yourselves after that godawful Candyman programme)
