Body Language in Cooking Crush

Saw a great discussion about Dynamite and Fire in Cooking Crush unfold last night on my dash, (have I mentioned I love my mutuals?) and have not been able to stop thinking about what @twig-tea was saying in their post about body language, nuance, and consent and how Dynamite is constantly and carefully reading the room. And you know when someone says body language, WKA shall appear to do a scene break down! 

I want to start, briefly, by reiterating the fact that Dy’s crush on Fire started after Fire intervened in his bashing, literally grappling and throwing one of the two bullies to the ground. So one of the very first things Dy ever learns about Fire is that he a) is kind enough to step in when he sees someone being hurt and b) will throw hands if he needs to. And Dy uses these two pieces of knowledge to gauge how he interacts with Fire as he begins his pursuit. 

First Encounter

The first interaction we see, Dy comes out swinging right out the gate, he is explicit in his queerness, up front about his feelings, and obviously in pursuit. 

Fire makes immediate eye contact with him, thanks him for the drink, and then proceeds to disengage from the conversation. But, remember, Dy knows Fire is kind and knows Fire can get physical, so he’s on a safe track so far, there is no harm in introducing himself. “Your name is Fire. My name is Dynamite. We know each other now.” 

Something in Fire’s face softens, and where just a second ago he was completely disinterested and disengaged from Dy, now he is tuned in. But he catches himself quickly, almost immediately puts his mask back on, and gets the hell out of dodge. Dy presses a bit more and Fire gives him a fake smile that drops in to a frown. Fire isn’t angry here, he’s just annoyed. Which is fine, because Dynamite is intentionally being annoying, and he does chase after Fire with his drink, but he doesn’t try to keep Fire in place, he doesn’t touch him, he doesn’t grab him, he waits a moment (enough time for Fire to actually put some distance between them) before he follows after. What has Dy learned? Fire isn’t homophobic (at least to the point of violence) and there was the tiniest flicker of interest. He can keep on his pursuit.

This is followed by Dynamite placing himself in front of Fire’s line of sight on Jane, to Fire’s annoyance, yes, but I think it is important to note that Fire has no issues with touching Dynamite gently despite his very open queerness, FIre maintains the conversation, and even relies on Dynamite to get Jane’s number. When Fire calls Jane later and finds Dynamite on the other end of the phone, he’s once again frustrated and annoyed, but he doesn’t hang up the phone and he doesn’t balk at being called cute by Dynamite either. He isn’t mad about being flirted with by a guy, he’s mad that Dynamite played him and he didn’t get to talk to Jane. 

And while Dynamite has fun annoying Fire, he isn’t an asshole either. He doesn’t let Fire immediately revel in connection with Jane, because Fire couldn’t work up the courage to ask her himself, but he also will not deny Fire his actual chance to pursue what could be genuine feelings for Jane, so he gives Fire her number the very next day. On his date with Jane, Fire spends the entire time looking for Dynamite, completely ignoring Jane at his side. Dy is correct, if Fire was actually interested in Jane it wouldn’t have mattered.

Fire pins Dynamite to a wall to interrogate him about his presence in the area during Fire’s date.  But the way Fire is looking at Dynamite is not anger, it’s a challenge.

And when Dynamite remains unphased, you can see that challenge fading almost immediately in to annoyance, and then…Dynamite squares his shoulders, takes the smallest step forward, accepts Fire’s challenge and...

Fire retreats, not far, but he does drop his hands, he does take a step back, he cedes territory, he…he submits. And not only does he do so, but he gives Dynamite a once over, and when Dynamite keeps flirting, and Fire does not reciprocate, Dynamite says he will just go somewhere else if Fire is bothered, but offering the observation to Fy that he hasn’t been paying attention to Jane. Here again Fire could have gotten aggressive or could have walked away, but instead he grabs Dynamite’s hand and presses them to Dy’s lips to shush him. Which is exactly the opposite thing you want to do if you are trying to discourage the boy who is clearly comfortable being pinned between your arms from pursuing you any further.

And as Twig mentioned, the nuance in the body language here is that Fire is annoyed, but not upset. Fire is annoyed, but not angry. Dynamite leaves Fire alone for the rest of his time with Jane, and Fire sits beside her thinking about Dynamite instead. And there are clearly positive feelings for Dy taking root in Fire after this interaction, because this is what Fire’s reaction is when he thinks of Dynamite. 

It's small, it's subtle, it's hard to see with a static photo, but he's got the barest trace of a smile on his face.

And Dynamite knows when to pull back, too. When Fire threatens to punch Samsee and is physically restrained by Metha, Dynamite leaves immediately and does not appear in front of Fire again until he takes the fall for Fire in front of his mother. And thus starts the shift in Fire’s interactions with Dynamite with the peace offering of soy milk, where Fire makes moon eyes at Dy for the entire scene. 

Questioning in the Car

After being dumped by Jane, and starting to recognize he is having some sort of feelings for Dynamite, Metha (my beloved) takes Fire to acquire a sex worker and see how he feels about engaging in sex when a second penis is involved. And just like moving in to the same apartment complex was a coincidence, so too is Dynamite and Fire running in to each other on the street here.

Metha rolls down the window to start a conversation. Now. In my view, dynamite has always been paying attention to Fire’s reactions to his advances. But if that was not made super clear because Dy was being subtle about it at the beginning, it is made extremely obvious from every moment after the conversation on the fire escape. Because all Dynamite is doing from the second that Fire comes in to view is staring at him. Hearing Metha ask if they are using the sex worker service too and then watching intently as Dynamite’s eyes flit from Samsee, to Dynamite, down at the ground, and then straight ahead refusing to make more eye contact because Fire is embarrassed. Because he has realized he has some sort of feelings for Dynamite and he has been caught trying to figure out what those feelings are by the very person that has thrown his sexuality in to question in the first place. 

And that trend continues when they are alone in the car. Dynamite might be in the backseat, but his eyes are trained on Fire’s face for the entire conversation. Body language and consent here, right? Fire is not comfortable being in this car with Dynamite, but again not because Dynamite is doing something to upset him, because he knows that being caught this way gives a pretty clear sign to Dynamite that Fire has feelings for him. But at this point Fire is a coward and Dynamite is brave, so he will initiate the hard and awkward conversation that needs to be had. 

“Since I told you I like you, it made you feel uneasy, right?”

Boom. Called out about it, Fire for the first time since that initial moment of recognition turns to look at Dy. Now, the audience gets a good auditory confirmation that Fire is experiencing feelings, because we hear the heart beat sound effect. But Dy gets a confirmation too, because Fire’s mouth is slightly open, Fire’s brow furrows for just a moment. It’s hard to see it from the angle Neo’s head is at, but Fire is scanning Dynamite’s face, and he breaks eye contact when the feelings get to be too much for him.

By Dy won’t let him run away. Dynamite places a hand atop Fire’s head (worth noting that heads, if I recall correctly, are pretty sacred in Thai culture and having someone touch your head holds some weight to it).  Fire gets lost in Dynamite’s face for a moment, and takes a little too long to pull away from Dynamite’s touch for someone claiming not to like Dynamite. Again, Dy may be a little shit (read: someone who enjoys intentionally annoying people) but he is not an asshole, he knows this is getting to be too much for Fire, and he defuses the intensity of the moment by pushing harder on the “you like me” point, but in such a way that allows Fire to hide behind annoyance once again. But Dy still wants to be certain he is reading the situation correctly, so he leans in a little, a teasing distance and Fire?

Jaw goes slack, then tenses as he swallows hard, and his eyes flicker down for just a second right to Dynamite’s lips. Dynamite backs off, and the thrill of the moment finally settles over Fire now that he has some breathing room from the intensity of that interaction for him and he starts to smile to himself. With Dynamite once again checking Fire’s face to gauge his reaction, and only smiling when he sees Fire is melting in his seat. 

Cold Shoulder at the Grocery Store 

The audience does not know this yet, but Dynamite has suffered a massive loss for being queer, and that has made him brave and strong, and that has informed the way that he engages with potential lovers. I won’t talk about it at length because multiple other posts have already covered that. But I think it is important to remember for what comes next. Because Dynamite looks pretty happy after that conversation in the car that Fire reciprocates his feelings. And then he sees Jane and Fire together at the store.

Dynamite sizes up the scene, sees Jane at Fire’s side, see’s Fire looking amped up and a little cocky, and you can see the moment he decides to shut his feelings for Fire down in the tiniest of lip movements. (Aungpao is blowing me away in this show, he’s seventeen fucking years old, his microexpression game is on point, he’s relatively green, and he’s keeping up with actors like GUN ATTAPHAN, OFF JUMPOL, AND NEO TRAI.) Dynamite is brave, but what he is seeing is Fire running from his feelings and trying to be straight, and for the time being, Fire is not strong enough for what comes next. Dynamite got his hopes up and they are being crushed in real time in the grocery store. 

And when Dynamite does not engage, Fire doesn’t look relieved that he didn’t have to deal with Dynamite, he looked disappointed that Dynamite decided not to pay attention to him. To give him the space that he’s said he has wanted all this time. It takes Jane coming out about her relationship and calling Fire on his crush on Dynamite to corner Fire in such a way that he can’t run from his feelings anymore. But man oh man is he going to try. 

Drunk Confessions

Dy is mad, trying to get past his feelings for Fy, and is now having to take care of a drunken man that is confessing his feelings because he is only able to do so under the influence. God I love this scene so much, because it is one of the rare times that I have seen a drunken kiss, and a chaste cheek kiss at that be so upsetting. And Dynamite has every right to be upset, a) because he might have pushed Fire around a bit, he definitely stepped over the line occasionally by following Fire around but he never was physically intimate with Fire and b) because Fire has jerked around Dynamite’s emotions partially without Fire’s knowledge, and you can see the mental calculus going on in Dy’s head when Fire kisses him, because this is a very blatant admission of feelings but not when he is sober, and that is wholly unfair to Dy. 

But it’s getting Dy’s hopes up too and you can see him shake his wall back in place after Fire collapses on his shoulder because he can’t afford for Fire to get sober and clam up again. And here we get the admission of exactly what Dy has been picking up on this whole time: “Regardless of how much I say I don’t want to see you, you have no right to walk away.” To be clear here: this is not a ‘no means yes’ situation. This is a “you don’t have to stop” admission a la Secret Crush on You. Fire likes the game and is saying so himself right now. It’s why Dy picked up on from the beginning and why he was acting the way that he was, and seeing Fy with Jane after their conversation in the car is when he think he might have been misreading Fy the entire time and pulls away completely out of respect for the feelings of everyone involved. 

Which is why Dy pulls away even harder and stops engaging with Fy at all after Fy wakes up sober, remembering everything that had happened the night before, and refusing to own up to it. Fire’s not ready the way Dynamite is, and so Dynamite will leave Fire to do the work from here. If Fire truly likes Dynamite, Dynamite will happily turn his feelings for Fire back on, but only after Fire proves that he is ready.

S O A P :

-You had kept in touch.

-Through letters and some texts, when Soap was allowed to send them, you started to have a great friendship.

-But lately in the memes that Soap sent to you, you found a lot of references to the French girls in general.

-Firstly you didn't pay attention.

-Until that night.

-When you saw Titanic again with your parents.

-And it clicked.

-The French girls scene !

-By you stopped.

-Why would Soap make implicit reference to this ?

-Then again you remembered his drawings.

-He sent you some of them in his letters.

-When you get back to your home, you gathered them, looking if maybe he had made a portrait of you or had made a joke that you didn't see.

-But it was just random sketches.

-You stared at Ghost sketch eating an ice cream when you noticed something on his mask.

-You searched through the sketches and...

-"U to the mow, I go you will" you said out loud after collecting the letters and tried to figure out what he wanted to say.

-And you tried to understand it.

-But except this fucking "mow" and "will"

-You didn't find any coherence in it.

-Did he want to ask you to mow his lawn in his garden ?

-But he didn't have a garden.

-And why a "U" and then a "You".

-Why, why Soap would even do this ?

-He was not the kinda guy that do this.

-"...I think I'm too stupid to find out this shit." you admitted.

-Well maybe your French girls scenes will not be romantic.

-So you texted him saying, you understood he sent you a message.

-But you didn't find how to translate it.

-And he texted you the answer.

-"Will you go out with me ?"

-...

-"Did Price give you the idea Soap ?" you answered.

-"Wait, you didn't answer."

-"Did Price give you the idea ?"

-"You think I couldn't be a romantic, love ?"

-"I think we're both too stupid to create a thing like this, love."

-"... it was L.T"

-"he...Ghost ?"

-"Yes."

-"...did he love titanic ?"

-"he had a collection about it."

-"...wow."

-"yeah."

-"To answer, yes, I would love too. But never ask again advice from Ghost, I don't want to end on an iceberg."

-"Yes, love."

P R I C E :

-Soap and Gaz with a broken arm led to your confession.

-They were both drunk and knew their captain had a thing for you, and it was reciprocated.

-Especially after Price offered you some chocolates to make clear he was interested in you.

-But nothing was happening.

-So with some scotch, and very bad ideas, Gaz and Soap decided that their time to shine had coming.

-They were the Cupids of the base.

-And what had Cupid ?

-Wings.

-If they used their wings to bring you from your office to Price at the bar, then he would be happy and more relaxed in this context, and maybe he will confess.

-Yes.

-Except.

-They didn't have wings.

-So when they jumped out from the roof.

-Their arms broke.

-And who was the doctor at the base ?

-You.

-You didn't go out because you were busy to treat their arms.

-"Maybe we need some bows next time." Soap whispered but it was more like he shouted in Gaz's ears.

-"And some white underwears! Cupid has that. I'm sure if we wore this, it will work for sure." Gaz answered.

-"And what about not jumping from the roof and not drinking that much, hmm ?" you asked.

-"Sssshhhh, we're in a confession plan right now. You can't stop us." Gaz said trying to put his finger on your mouth but ended up to do it on the wall next to you.

-"I'm calling Price to take you back to your bed, you're both too heavy for me."

-"We could walk."

-"It's not walking the problem Soap. It's where you could go."

-"hmm."

-So you called Price.

-The problem was he asked you why.

-Why did the boys jump out from the roof ?

-You blinked.

-He would know when he would come here.

-So you decided to gather some courage and-

-"They try to make us confess by bringing me to the bar with you. But they believe they were angels and could fly."

-The silence was so loud.

-He hung up.

-You sighed.

-Well at least, you said it.

-You didn't expect a yes, but at least an answer would be the minimum.

-When later, you heard a knock, you didn't make the effort to look up.

-You heard Price taking the boys to their beds and the door closing.

-But few minutes later, you heard a knock.

-Surprised, you stood up.

-"John." You said surprised.

-"I intend to ask you out with some roses, and tomorrow but I guess two drunk soldiers with broken arms beat me."

-"'Hope Soap and Gaz will not be there."

-He laughed.

-He sent you a meme.

-To confess.

-But you never answered him.

-And when he saw you, you never talked about it.

-So...he understood he was rejected.

-And he was okay with that, hell it was normal.

-He just thought it was reciprocated because you had what seems like dates with him.

-Maybe he mixed up signals.

-So he just never talked about it again, because he didn't want to make you feel awkward.

-But one day during lunch, he heard Soap talking with you.

-"So you got a new one, uh ?" Soap asked.

-"I didn't have the choice. His ass fucking destroyed the previous one."

-Gaz stared at the floor.

-He didn't know you had someone.

-Maybe that was because you never-

-"L.T has a cake, that's for sure." Soap joked.

-Gaz suffocated.

-You-

-And Ghost-

-And Ghost's ass-

-"That's not funny Soap. He fucking destroyed my phone just by sitting on it. It's not a cake. It's a fucking breeze block at this point."

-Your...

-Oh.

-oh.

-FUCK.

-He realized.

-You didn't ignore him.

-You hadn't see his message.

-"How does it happen ?" he asked to be sure of his conclusion.

-"I just let my phone on a bench, and he sat without looking, that's it. But because his ass is apparently more solid that my relationship with my father, or even the fucking Vivelle dop gel, he broke it."

-"Fuckin' hell". Gaz said

-"You can say that again. Why are you asking, by the way ?"

-"I sent you a text and you never answer, so I was wondering why."

-"Now you know. But I will answer, I manage to transfer my data and texts on my new phone."

-Gaz didn't feel well now.

-Soap was here.

-And your phone in your hand.

-Meaning he will see your reaction in live and with a public.

-Like he was on the set of a TV show. But here he could gain your heart and not $100,000.

'I may have grown a few centimetres since I was eleven.'

'No, it's—' He stops himself.

I put down my phone. 'What? It's what?'

'You're more serious.'

I don't remember not being serious. As far as I'm concerened, I came out of the womb spouting cynicism and wishing for rain." (Oseman 73)

This is an analysis of Tori Spring and her unreliability as a narrator. It will be incredibly long, so I hope I do not bore anyone.

Lucas, as we know, had been Tori's best friend throughout elementary school. He had a dream, to chase after his childhood best friend and start a beautiful romance—which was nicely foreshadowed by the line: "'[The Great Gatsby is] about...' He pauses to think. 'It's about someone who's in love with a dream'" (72). However, he realizes that she wasn't the person he thought she was. Or rather, she isn't the person she used to be.

Alongside Lucas, there are two other characters that hint at the fact that Tori was never this pessimistic: Mr. Kent and Becky.

Near the beginning of the novel, Tori mentions how she and Kent know each other quite well because he has been her teacher for over five years. And, throughout the novel, Kent continuously shows his concern for Tori and her attitude towards life. It would make a lot of sense for him to be this concerned if he had actually seen life in Tori to begin with. Along with that, it is very clear that Tori is liked by the teachers, as stated by Becky on page 79. Again, it would make more sense for this to be the case if she was a different person when she was younger.

Finally: Becky. Throughout the novel, Tori feels incredibly jealous towards her best friend, and she feels the gap between them comes from the fact that Becky moved on while she stayed exactly where she was. However, during their argument after the Solitaire party, Becky says, "you've changed. I might have changed too, but you definitely have. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's true" (310). This completely contradicts everything Tori has told the reader.

The scene in which Tori reads her old diary illustrates my point perfectly.

"Up at the crack of 10:30am. Becky et moi went to the cinema today and saw Pirates of the Carribean (is that how you spell it???) 2 and OMG it was SO GOOD. Becky thinks Orlando Bloom is the fittest. Then we went to get pizza in the high street she had Hawaiian but obviously mine was plain cheese. YUM! She's coming round next week for a sleepover too. She says she needs to tell me about a boy that she likes!! And we're going to eat so much food and stay up all night and watch films!!!!!" (274)

It's very clear with the exclamation marks and enthusiasm in her tone that no, she was not born serious. Unlike now, Tori used to be genuinely happy to listen to Becky's relationships with boys. And—my favourite detail—the use of French in the second sentence. The word "moi" was almost always used by tweens as a quirky replacement for "me" (source: me. I used to use that word all of the time because I thought it was cute and silly. Gross). This is my favourite detail because of an earlier scene with Oliver when Tori says, "Are you suggesting that Charlie is better at Mario Kart than moi?" (63). Now, this could just be a coincidence, but I like to think that this is Tori's inner child being revealed to her little brother, especially because she would never speak to anyone else in that way. But, I digress.

So, I have now established how Tori has been unreliable with the way she describes herself, but what else has she been lying about? I think the most obvious answer is her hatred and lack of knowledge about literature.

Unlike everything I explained above, Tori does admit to lying near the end of the book, saying that books scare her because of how personal they feel. However, there are many things that contradicted her prior to this reveal. For example, her grades in her previous English class—as mentioned by Kent—and the way she used to read with Lucas.

After Lucas speaks about the books he is currently reading, Tori tells the reader, "I nod as if I understand. I don't. I don't know a single thing about literature despite studying it for A level" (72). Yet when Michael tests her on famous literary works, she is able to answer every question correctly, once again contradicting everything she has said.

Her unreliability is not deliberate, it comes from lies she tells herself. However, it seems like she knows the truth deep down. But I guess she is justified. After all, it feels better to say you were born serious than to admit to the damage the world has done to you.

Memories, part two.☔️

Part one ^

The Wanderer stood outside of Tighnari’s healing hut, hands squeezing the wooden bannister as he stared down at Gandharva Ville in rage. His mind was consumed with the dread of yet another person leaving him. When he had gotten you to Tighnari, you were barely breathing. His pacing had distracted the healer so he was pushed outside and left there to await news of your fate.

While you lay in the hut, oblivious to your surroundings, you enter a dreamscape. Beautiful opalescent colours cascaded around you, leading your eyes to a tree. You couldn’t believe what you were seeing. It was Irminsul. As you approached, you noticed a small figure at the base of the tree and recognised her immediately.

“Nahida!” You called out. “How am I here? I don’t understand.” You questioned and The god simply smiled.

“I heard you figured out that you once knew the Wanderer. I’m sure you are very confused. I brought your spirit here to answer some of the questions you must have.” She motioned for you to ask away.

“He used Irminsul to make the world forget him didn’t he?” You started up at the shining tree as you asked.

“Yes. He tried to prove himself by becoming a God with my gnosis and when that failed, he decided the world was better off without him ever having walked it.” She explained though you got the sense she wasn’t finished.

“He too forgot himself and became someone different. He lived a simple life of wandering. That’s how he found his new name.” She continued with a giggle at he end.

“But he seems to remember everything now. Could I?” You pondered. You had always hated not knowing things and the fact that there was some of your own life you couldn’t remember seriously irked you.

“You could. But it might be tough on your mind and your physical body is in a weakened state. Are you sure you want to take such a risk?” The God diligently double checked your consent.

“Im absolutely certain.” You nodded your head, resolve clear.

“Then let’s begin.”

Your dreamscape warped and changed until you arrived the crowded tavern in Sumeru city. You watched yourself in third person view, rushing down the thin path towards the bar to order some food, only to trip over a chair leg. You saw yourself about to hit the floor and, just like on your journey to Gandharva Ville you were caught by the Wanderer. Only he looked different, angrier and darker.

“Silly mortal, watch where you’re walking.” He grumbled as he stood you upright. You stared with wide eyes as your past self walked next to him towards the bar before speaking.

“Why don’t you watch where you’re sliding your chair out, huh?” You pointed at his chest accusingly, before quickly dropping your hand. “But thanks for catching me.” You watched yourself look away, not expecting him to answer. As you watched him laugh loudly at your retort and proceed to mockingly call you cute, things started to come back to you. This was when you first met him. Scaramouche.

The scene changed again, this time the warping was even more intense. Your senses returned to the view of Scaramouche holding you close in bed.

“You don’t have to work with him. He’s bad news, I know it.” Past you begged the man and turned to face him. You watched him push you away before raising his voice slightly.

“Yes I d -“ Warping interrupted his reasoning, but you knew what he was going to say. He had said it many times. “I have to do this. It is the only way to show them all! They have to see that THEY are nothing.”

The new scene felt volatile and unstable, warping remaining at the corner of your vision once the moment began.

“PLEASE. Don’t do this.” You saw yourself crying and pleading with Scaramouche, trying to stop him walking out the door.

“Get out of the way. I have to-“ He battled with himself not to push you when you interrupted him.

“NO! I won’t let you kill Lesser Lord Kusanali!” Instead, your past self pushed him. The warping in your peripheral vision intensified as you began remembering what came next. This was when you broke up with him. You told him if he goes ahead with his plan then you wouldn’t be able to look at him again. A voice broke through the warping and your deep thought.

“Things are getting unstable. Im going to pull you out.” It was Nahida. She was probably right. Your head was starting to ache, which doubted should happen when you aren’t connected to your physical self.

You were suddenly back at Irminsul with Nahida. Your vision still shook and you felt the overwhelming need to lie down. You took a step to sit on the path but fell instantly. Your eyes rolled back as Nahida moved your head to her lap.

“You have exhausted your spirit. Try and return to your physical body or you may be lost forever.” She whispered.

The Wanderer was still rooted to his spot outside the healing hut when Tighnari finally exited.

“I have done all I can. It is up to her to wake up now.” The healer looked tired as he spoke. “Go in. Speak to her, something tells me your voice will help guide her back.” With that, Tighnari walked away leaving a ranger outside ready to call him if something happened. The Wanderer’s breath hitched when he saw you, pale and weak. You looked so frail in that bed. Sobs escaped his mouth as he took your hand in his. All his regrets came crushing down on him. Maybe now you were asleep, he could say all the things he would tell you if you hadn’t forgotten him.

“You were right. Dottore was scum. I should never have gotten involved with him. I should never have tried to murder the Dendro Archon.” He spat in disappointment. “I was a fool. A fool to throw away the one person I didn’t need to prove myself to.” He held your intertwined hands to his mouth and gently kissed yours. “You need to come back. You won’t remember me but, I will dedicate the rest of my life to being better this time around.” His tears ran in between your hands, still held to his face.

“Somehow, I don’t doubt that.” You croaked, causing him to jump and drop your conjoined hands to the bed.

Whatever iteration of yourself you are.” You admitted. His eyes softened and filled with more tears.

“You remember?” His voice uncharacteristically weak. You nodded in affirmation. His head dropped onto your shoulder, carefully avoiding your wounded area. He breathed the moment in, breathed your love in.

“You remember. You’re okay and you remember.” He had never felt so lucky as he kissed your cheek. He told to you continue your rest in peace, that he would stay with you and hold you until you felt stronger. He too was finally at peace as he brushed your hair with his free hand and watched your breathing settle into a healing sleep. He whispered into your hair.

“I love you too.”

From someone who read Azriel’s POV bonus chapter without having read any of the ACOTAR books beforehand:

Couple of months ago I stumbled upon Azriel’s POV bonus chapter and I have no idea how or why because I hadn’t yet started reading the books. I had some basic knowledge of the story and the characters thanks to TikTok and it was probably one of the ship war videos that made me search for the bonus chapter because I was intrigued what the heck was going on that was making everyone go to war over. So, I read the bonus chapter without being influenced by liking one ship or the other, just wanted to see why everyone was fussing over Azriel.

The first part of the bonus chapter with Azriel and Elain made me SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE. I read a lot of smutty books and dark romances so sex talk is not something I shy away from. But the way that scene was written made me physically uncomfortable and not just because of Azriel’s thoughts, but Elain’s behaviour also. I can’t explain it, but both of them felt so cringy. I kept reading because I wanted to understand the fuss over the other part of the bonus chapter but if I had to decide on entering the world of ACOTAR based on that first part I would have thrown it in the trash. Needless to say I was super happy when Rhys interrupted them.

And then came the second part of the bonus chapter with Gwyn and oh my God but what a change. Azriel transformed from a creep (sorry but that was the vibe he was giving me in the beginning) to romance books hero in 2 paragraphs just by changing the scenery and the female protagonist. His scene with Gwyn felt so genuine and warm and just like he felt something restless settling inside him I felt all of the uncomfortable feelings leaving me from the first part of the chapter to give room to this warmth I felt for the 2 of them. And then for me it was pretty obvious that the author was telling the readers: this is his girl. The scene, the way it is written, the words used for the training scene but also at the end in the library, for me it was pretty damn obvious they were gonna be a couple. And then I understood that the first part of the bonus chapter was supposed to make us feel uncomfortable so we could see the contrast with the second part, literally obviously saying: The first girl ain’t it. The second girl is who you should be looking at.

So all of this without having read the books. And no, I’m not lying about it. I’m 27 and have better things to do than make stuff up for a ship war.

And then I read the books and entered the SJM world (TOG, ACOTAR, CC) and I was super confused with all of the E/riel fans and their theories and arguments that made me question whether we read the same books. I saw no ‘build-up for 4 books’ (which he spent mostly in love with Mor), sure little cute moments here and there but without that bonus chapter I would have even said Azriel looked at Elain as a little sister to protect. The bonus chapter only told me he has deep personal trauma to heal. Sorry but the fact that he hadn’t thought about a future with Elain but just sex is no way in hell romantic. So, 4 books of build-up led to, well, that? And the fact that Elain was willing to kiss another guy in the same house where her mate was sleeping (whom she hasn’t rejected yet) doesn’t speak volumes of her either, only that she also has a lot of stuff to deal with.

When Sarah in her interview said that she thought it was pretty obvious about who the next book will be and that she left breadcrumbs in the bonus chapter, for me it was pretty obvious it would be Gwyn and Az (I felt that literally by having read only the bonus chapter before the books). All of their little moments in ACOSF, how Sarah wanted us to pay attention to their reactions to one another, left no room for doubt in my mind, just like I saw it instantly with 2 glances the first time Nessian met, and I felt the chemistry right away.

I could go on ‘till tomorrow but probably should stop here. Just had to write this out of genuine confusion at how people try to deny the obvious (literally what Sarah said) by using theories and arguments that only show they probably haven’t even read ACOSF or other SJM books, because she couldn’t be more obvious than that with her writing.

P.S. This feels the same like when season 1 of The Vampire Diaries aired and I instantly knew Damon and Elena were it. Didn’t even need proof, just had a gut feeling. And Stelena fans then were also aggressively explaining there was no way Delena would be a thing much less endgame, but oh, guess which ship won in the end?

Okay, first off, mind. blown. There's some VERY good action in this one!

Yor's coworkers are at the "Well, we're still better off!" jealousy stage. It's a small thing but something I can definitely see people like them do. Sharon seems to be the most passive-aggressive one, so it was a bit revealing that she was the first one to go like "Hey I got beer and sausage, I'm not jealous at all!" Our truest selves come out in the hardest times...

By the way, if Yor's coworkers knew what she was going through, they'd definitely stop being jealous.

Yor appears a little too nervous, if you ask me. Granted, we only saw her once before working, and when she was imagining what she'd tell Anya she sounded quite secure in her abilities. But now that she's been living in a family, her way of work has indeed changed, if anything else because she's worried they may find out the truth about her.

At first I thought McMahon had kicked her in the shin, but upon rewatching I realized he kicked the leg of the chair. I'm sure if it were the Shopkeeper he'd probably kick her leg, if not stomp down on her foot just to get her to focus.

Gram was sneezing again? Should I pay attention to this or is it just a baby being a baby?

Yor is smart to try and think how the enemy would think in order to be prepared for their plan, but she doesn't take into account the fact that some of the assassins are actual psychopaths who don't care about taking innocent people's lives in their effort to do their job. That's what being too kind of an assassin will do to you XD

And it's driven to the point even more with Yor being cute like that - and probably remembering the times she played with Yuri when he was little - and Olka saying she doesn't look like a criminal. She really doesn't. Sweetest assassin ever <3

The "mmm" Yor made at the end was the exact same "mmm" Anya made while stuffing up her face with food XD

Loid is not impressed, and this is only the beginning.

It's so fun having the actual, physical copy of the manga in front of me as I watch the episode! I notice here that when Anya talked about Yor missing, she also told Loid "You miss dinner all the time", but the anime omitted that. STOP DENYING US THINGS!

Anyway, Anya calls him out for catching feelings, and Loid is quick to drop his voice a couple octaves to show how secure he is.

I AM NOT LONELY I AM NOT.

Sure buddy, sure.

The office guys are on the opposite side of relaxing and actually enjoying themselves on this trip, going out and drinking a little too much, while the "Greys", Yor and McMahon are walking on eggshells.

The anime team obviously had enough time available for this chapter, as they have a couple of added lines from the office guys, so I doubt they omitted Anya's line about Loid missing dinner due to time issues. I wonder what might be the reason - it's not like they're trying to make us think he doesn't miss dinner? We know the guy's schedule is tight as a drum.

Anyway. Assassin-ing time and holy shit.

I'm pretty sure I gasped at this.

And the rest of the scene, of course!

Obligatory mention that it's been proven time and again that torture is not an effective means of interrogation. People can and do lie while being tortured for information, so the things they say may or may not be accurate. Torture may make them speak, but whether they speak the truth or not is another issue, unrelated to torture itself. So while there can be various goals of torturing someone (illegitimate, of course, like punishment, making an example out of a "traitor", or in very few real-life cases, gratification), obtaining information has proven to not be a feasible one. I understand the point of the scene was to show McMahon's abilities and to establish that there are multiple people on board after Olka, I just needed to say that.

I've been certain they'd go the "dumping bodies into the ocean" route. A cruise is a great setting for that!

The knock on the door was intense! Especially since it's put right after the scene of McMahon and Furseal walking back to the room, but just those few seconds of slowed down tension make you think "Oh no. It's not them. It's them".

I expected the "Oh, it's just room service!" and of course, I expected the "I didn't order any" reply.

Great animation of the attack and Yor protecting Olka and Gram though I'm begging the animators to look a bit into trigger discipline, at this point whenever I see a gun my eyes go immediately on the trigger and I go D: whenever there's a finger on it that shouldn't be

But oh, McMahon is good, and resourceful!

The assassin points his gun at them, Furseal freaks out while McMahon marches on.

We also finally see one (1) eye under the reflection of his glasses. I get that the reflection makes it easier in animation and such, but still I appreciate this detail, especially in such a moment.

And more action! Yor being a badass and at the same time caring for the baby!

"I can excuse murder in self-defense but I draw the line at scaring a baby"

THE GUY WAS STILL WIGGLING. WHILE HE HAD A DAGGER THROUGH HIS SKULL.

(probably last uncontrollable movements from his dying nervous system but still. it was fucking chilling and I love it)

Also, I can understand Yor being strong enough to break the door. But I think it takes a different kind of strength to throw an object, even a sharp one, and make the object break through the door, a human skull, and then latch onto a wall. Absolute unit.

Seeing the body was freaky, too! If I'm correct, I think this is the very first time we see a person being murdered on screen in the story.

Ah no wait we do see a guy in the second episode getting a dagger to the back and falling down. But it was much more palatable than seeing a dagger go through someone's skull and practically nailing him to the wall.

I'm gonna think about this for a long time, lmao. It was brutal!

I just noticed this on my rewatch! McMahon is wearing a ring in the shape and place of a wedding ring! He then goes on to tell the ship's services that the "mister and missus had a fight" though in the manga he says "me and my wife" so is his cover that he's on board with his wife?

And here's the same thing that shows Yor's side. She sees assassins as people doing their job and "cleaning out trash" especially in her case, not people who do this job just because they have no issue killing.

I mean, I don't want turtleneck guy to defeat Yor, but he's got my respect for now.

He also says there are other members from the gangster family on board? Just how many people did manage to get on this ship XD

The eavesdropping guy tells turtleneck guy that he sells his information equally and practically tells him good luck getting ahead, so now I'm thinking, there's another eavesdropping guy, or is he selling all his intel to other assassins that weren't there in that scene?

Also, good luck getting them to work together without getting greedy and/or paranoid, lol

Furseal was actually blushing while wearing the mask XD and the plague doctor mask on the baby!

The poison guy thinks he's some dude. He has no idea who he's dealing with.

This arc will be perfect for creepy shots of Yor, won't it XD

Furseal asks for his button back and dude! Priorities much? This button saved all your lives XD

Blonde mask guy tries to go for Olka right in the middle of the crowd like wtf and the moment Yor grabbed his hands I went like "BREAK THEM. BREAK HIS FINGERS." And then she did <3 We stan <3

That's it. That's their dynamic in one shot.

While Anya is having an overdramatic tantrum, we see how even when Twilight is trying to not be on the lookout - he even says he just has to stay away from suspicious people - his skills are so fine that they kinda work subconsciously. He spots the listening devices (I mean, there are a ton of them) and notices all the suspicious people even if he doesn't make a conscious list of all of them.

Then Twilight has a fucking breakdown over one (1) silly keychain. I mean it is a skeleton keychain so his mind immediately went "IT'S EITHER THAT OR MY OWN DEATH" is anyone even surprised

Anya is still learning how easily Twilight overreacts. And like the scene with the sandbox in the hospital, she realizes she caused him a little too much anxiety and tries to take some burden off.

This entire tension is going on and Twilight is still stuck on whether he should buy a stupid keychain. This man is incapable of relaxing, you tell him to relax and he goes like "Okay spy mode on standby, parent with anxiety mode is on".

I love how this reads a bit like "Papa considers hating frogs as much of a dealbreaker as being an assassin!"

It's so weird - though fitting - to think that Anya believes she can keep this up indefinitely. She has no idea how easily they could discover each other's identities and believes she can stop that from eventually happening. It makes sense for her age, though.

It's also a bit sad, how quick she is to think that she would be abandoned if they found out about each other. It's probably what makes her go "I have to keep this up as long as possible". Her young mind can't comprehend an alternative.

And oop! Taking part of the next chapter too, I see!

I might have lost it during these shots.

"You go around having battles" is definitely something Anya would come up with. It's why she's so hard to write and why Endo should receive an applause for how accurate to her age and experience he writes her.

Next, Twilight's biggest foe; the unreadable expression of a five six year old who is trying to take responsibility for her actions.

I love how when Twilight is facing actual danger and difficult missions he's all cool and collected. Meeting Desmond? Piece of cake. Taking down entire groups of people aiming guns at him? No problem. Anya acting unpredictable? THE WORLD IS ENDING.

However funny the scene is, it slowly drifts into a sadder territory. Twilight actually worries over Anya's mental state, and though he has no idea Anya is having the time of her life, there must be a part of his understanding of her trauma that is true. Now why he undermines completely his own trauma... It's projecting, isn't it?

Anyway, he concludes that the Handler knew from the beginning that Anya needs some vacation in order to recover from her trauma, and for some reason, instead of going like "Yo give her a break" she conjured up this entire idea for a vacation... But in reality, the Handler was only saying that in order to justify his time off in paper.

Like, the man can be so off sometimes that I want to shake him and then hug him because god I cannot imagine going your entire life like this and not even comprehending the idea of actual time off.

Anya: Have fun! Twilight: Cannot compute!

Like yeah it's funny but how am I supposed to not feel just a little bit sad with how he's completely unfamiliar with the concept of relaxing and having fun 😭😭

This is going to be a disaster XD

Anya prepares to run for it, realizes he can change and wear everything within seconds, and freezes... But then Overanalyzing TwilightTM takes control and he starts spending long minutes in front of the mirror freaking out about how his weird ensemble will manage to fix Anya's mood.

This truly is his most difficult mission. Anya is the perfect age to teach him about how sometimes he cannot control how people will react to his manipulations... and then there's the mind-reading, too.

Anyway. I love how Anya goes like "That's not how I expected to win some time but it works" and just steps back into the corridor XD

OH MY GOD

I love me a good fight choreography! Here Yor pushed Olka down from the shoulders, and at the same time pushed Furseal's knees to the front so they'd bend and he'd go down just enough to miss the sickle. Awesome!

The guy just starts a fight right in the middle of the crowd. And Yor has no choice but to stop him, Anya has to hide and also keep Loid from coming out of the store...

That IS a very interesting cliffhanger! I nearly screamed when it ended there, lol. It even ends in the middle of the page! I had to cover it with my hand to avoid spoilers XD The things I go through in this crazy experience XD

Overall, awesome episode! Though I felt that the Twilight panicking scene dragged on a bit. I don't know why. Maybe it's just that I'm an angst ho and I wanted a bit more angsty vibes from that scene. It's not bad, but maybe I still haven't realized just how much on comedy the show belongs in. It has a peculiar but for some reason very efficient balance on everything.

Interviewer: When you first saw the character design, description, and other information about Suwa Rei, what impression did you have?

Uchiyama: He had a chilly air, and his personality didn't seem cheery at all. I had a very strong impression of coldness, as if he'd closed off his heart. The description said that "he was raised in an unusual environment, and works as an assassin", but since it was an original series, I had no idea what future development he would go through. So I figured he must still have plenty of hidden depths in store.

Interviewer: And how did it feel to actually act as him?

Uchiyama: (Kurusu) Kazuki and (Unasaka) Miri have lots of lighthearted interactions which roll along at a brisk pace, but when Rei joins in, he can't really keep up with that pace and energy; I was often reminded to convey that during the recording sessions. There are a lot of conversation scenes among the three members of the household, and I was told not to fall into their rhythm. When you're talking to someone, it's natural to get emotionally caught up in the conversation, and to be mindful of the other person when choosing your words. But when it came to Rei, it was very important to keep that tendency in check.

Interviewer: You were essentially playing the dual roles of father to Miri, and a professional assassin. Was there anything you kept in mind at those times?

Uchiyama: In Rei's case - first of all, when his hairstyle changes, he leaves a very distinct visual impression, and so I figured that had to make some difference. During the recording sessions, I was asked to give him a slightly different vibe whenever he entered assassin mode. And as for the parts where he's being a father to Miri, I felt like that aspect developed bit by bit as the story progressed - early on, he doesn't have the sort of concern or feelings for her that Kazuki does. Rei's fatherly feelings build up through various incidents, and it made sense that it would be a gradual development.

Interviewer: Please tell us your impressions of Kazuki and Miri, as well as what you find appealing about each of them.

Uchiyama: I think Kazuki is an essentially cheerful person, and takes an interest in all sorts of things. Unlike Rei, he has very strong life skills; he can cook and clean and do laundry to perfection, and he can communicate smoothly with others. No matter whether he's dealing with the job or the housework, he tackles it proactively. It sounds strange to say that he "enjoys" his job as an assassin, but on the whole, I do get the impression that he really revels in life in general. That's his charm. Miri is as bright as the sun, and chatters away cheerfully in a loud voice. I think she has a natural ability to lift the spirits of the people around her, with her laughing and singing. Plus she has quite a wealth of different expressions, and not just childishly adorable ones - her goofy faces and wicked smirks are also drawn in fine detail. That level of expressiveness and variation is also charming. I think it's good that she has traits beyond just cuteness.

Interviewer: From the episodes that have aired so far, are there any scenes that left an impression on you, or that you're especially fond of?

Uchiyama: There's a scene where they're struggling to balance their life with Miri and their job, and so they head to the government office, but what I really found memorable was how we begin to see all the aspects of "parenting" from there. Part of the process is that they have to write her name on all her belongings for daycare; I thought that little detail was very effective. And in the scene where they go shopping for high-end children's clothing, it was interesting to see Kazuki go on about how, when you're entering a group environment, you have to try to look cool right from the start. I've spotted designer children's clothing in department stores, and I've always wondered what sort of parent would buy such expensive stuff. Turns out Kazuki does. (laughs) That was on my mind as well.

Interviewer: Please tell us what you think are the selling points of this series "Buddy Daddies".

Uchiyama: I think it really is the feeling you only get from an original anime, that you have no way to tell where things are going from here. I also recorded every episode with no idea how it would all turn out in the end. From the midpoint onwards, Miri's mother is an important character as well, and various dramas are playing out in parallel, including each character's past. In that way, every episode brings a sense of freshness, and I think you can enjoy that without ever getting bored.

Interviewer: Finally, please give a message to everyone who is enjoying this series.

Uchiyama: When it comes to Rei, his past and background are still a mystery in many ways. We get a few glimpses from his conversations with Kazuki, but the series will delve more deeply into that from now on. Please pay close attention to the story of the Rei, Kazuki, and Miri trio, as well as to each character's life until now. And this one is a minor detail, but I'd like to note that there are a lot of homages to legendary movies scattered throughout. The scene of making French toast is reminiscent of "Kramer vs. Kramer" [1979 legal drama], and Ogino Ryo is a lot like Chigurh from "No Country for Old Men" [2007 thriller by the Coen brothers]. I think it would be wonderful if you could appreciate those hidden references as well. I hope you will follow this series all the way to the finale.

[Translation] capsule in girls '60s magazine (Feb. 2004)

When I first saw their music videos, the striking visuals immediately caught my eye. Simplistic designs, vivid color schemes on the outfits and sets… I can't describe the style as anything other than '60s-inspired. For the first edition of our "Pick Up Artist" feature, it's one whose existence fascinates me — let's take a look at the charm of capsule.

capsule is a music unit consisting of Nakata Yasutaka, whom manages the sound, art direction, design, concept work and so on, and vocalist Koshijima Toshiko. Nakata directs the image, visual aspects, and songs while Koshijima performs it all, resulting in their unique style. - original interview by Aikawa Chisato, translation by ystk-archive -

The reason behind their '60s-inspired visual style

Nakata: To be honest, I don't have any particular attachment to the '60s. I just like unique and minimalistic things, stuff with interesting shapes and clean designs and whatnot. It started when I got into interior design, and at first I especially liked Space Age furniture.¹ That's changed a little recently — I like pieces made out of wood but still with that outerspace kind of vibe. Even when it's made from wood, it doesn't feel natural, it still has this sort of odd look. When it comes to the '60s, I like the plywood that they often used. But I'm intrigued by Karimoku furniture too (laughs).²

— So would you say you're more interested in space and not the '60s?

Nakata: Yeah, and I guess sci-fi movies played a part in that. In movies like Men in Black you often see Tulip chairs, though I don't think they were used to evoke a retro or '60s feel on purpose.³ With films like that I tend to focus more on the furniture and not the overall atmosphere; if anything, I see furniture along with fashion as objects that look nice when put into a scene you're taking in as a whole. I like to come up with unconventional settings. Women are usually depicted in sci-fi films as secretaries, all wearing identical wigs and uniforms, and I like that kind of weird atmosphere. So instead of me consciously liking '60s aesthetics, I wound up thinking they were cool without making the connection that they were from that decade. I also love clothes that incorporate simplistic, striking designs, since they're like spacesuits (laughs).

— How do you feel about wearing clothes like that?

Koshijima: I'm also not obsessed with the '60s or anything, but I like to play around with that era's clothing and makeup styles. It's more fun than just wearing normal clothes.

— Have you two had similar tastes all along?

Nakata: Our tastes used to be completely different. I feel like she's adjusted to match me.

— So Koshijima-san is committed to being a model?

Koshijima: Yep. I haven't changed my approach, ever since the beginning.

— Are there times where you feel like your tastes really are different?

Koshijima: I don't think so. If we actually were fundamentally different, I don't think we'd be working together. Strangely enough, when I look at the materials I'm given, I start to think they're cute. Nakata: When I get an idea, I suggest it first. Koshijima: But he doesn't show me clothes or anything directly, instead he shows me photos and videos… Like I'm being brainwashed (laughs). The more he introduces me to all kinds of cool things, the more similar we become. After I watched the materials he gave me, poses and dance moves just started coming naturally to me without even realizing it.

— Maybe you ran across something from the '60s that left an impression and that ended up coming through in your image.

Nakata: Yeah, there are a lot of easy explanations for it. I wonder if we're more like a new product with a retro design that would fit nicely in someone's living room, rather than something that could be found in an authentic '60s vintage shop. I think even if we intentionally collected oldschool aesthetics from that era and tried to copy those, it'd still turn out differently, because peoples' concept of the '60s and the real '60s are two different things. But if you take parts of that concept people have of that decade and use them, you wind up with something that has the right feel to it. For me right now, the concept I have in mind is the "style" of the '60s. Instead of making clothes or objects to match up with the '60s aesthetic, the styles are already floating around in my head, and then I make content that reflects that. There were a lot of useless shapes — like aren't record players from back then weird-looking? The technology of them and the half-dome shape are of that time, but the way they look on the outside is as if someone was imagining the future while designing them. It's interesting how these days it's the opposite: now the exterior designs of things are retro while the tech inside is highly advanced. And I like both (laughs). I even like things that seem out of place. I'm drawn to a sense of disharmony.

— Would you say the essence of the '60s is woven into your music?

Nakata: Not intentionally. I think the things I like tend to show through my music on accident. Basically I want to make any music, as long as it's cute.

— So do you feel like music is essentially an object?

Nakata: Music is something I started doing because I thought I could create it. It was right when I was in junior high school, they'd made a lot of progress with technology so making cassette tapes became fun. Part of that was because I liked the feeling of winding a tape up. I liked playing around with machines more than the music aspect itself and, when it comes to decorating, I even like the look of a tape deck sitting in a room. So that's why I want our CDs to be sold in regular stores along with other kinds of merchandise. I don't think music should be classified as something special and separate; it's good if it's just one part of the total amount of belongings in a space. Rather than wanting people to listen to our music seriously, I'd be happy if they enjoy the atmosphere it gives when they play it out in the open.

The Bad Batch x Reader

In which the batch tries to set you two up but you two are secretly dating~

Hunter

All of you were walking in a city getting food,so your looking at stalls.

I imagine you two wanna hold hands but just side eye each other

It's just one of those days where your just so in love with someone

"Don't wander off omega..!" you call after her as she runs to a stall holds souvenir's and colorful goodies

"What is that?!" Wrecker says following omega echo and tech following after them as you and hunter gaze at them,

"So much for wandering off..." Hunter trails off walking next to you,

"Yea..well!on the bright side,you're stuck with me now"you say slowly walking ahead of him and he smiles softly chuckling as well. "You would like that wouldn't you?" he questions rushing up to you as you smile and look at him "Mhm!and..especially because there gone." you state bluntly as you nod your head towards the stall omega and boys where only to see no one there. Hunter's eyes widened and surveyed the other stalls "Hey hey...She's with the boys,she's okay." you reassure, softly taking his hand and holding them in your own. Hunters shoulder lower as he looks at you and and lets out a breathe

"Alright...where were we?"

"hm...ah that you're stuck with me" you reply, bringing yourself closer to him. As he lets out a airy chuckle and shakes his head.

"Im....I guess i didn't wake up well today." he states still looking down,as your eyebrows furrow in worry

"Is it the dreams again?" you ask softly laying your hand on his back as he nods, and you let out a soft oh letting silence fill the air

"Hey, wrecker and tech are off doing the errands today so,lets take it easy hmm?" you say wrapping your arm around his and placing your head on his shoulder closing your eyes as he lays his head on yours softly the both of you enjoying the comforting silence.

Tech

You two have been dating for a long while now!

But I see tech as someone who doesn't really reveal or make it obvious that you two are together,together.

Butttt that doesn't stop you two from being adorable

Or you flirting with him any time your alone with him XD

There was this one time when you and tech were fixing a panel in the ship,helping him turned Into heavy flirting,on your end of course.

Imagine that scene where leia and han finally have their first kiss

It sorta ended up like that

But tech is fidgeting out of nervousness

Anyways- omega barges in and the two of literally separate so quickly XD

After this ordeal Cue omega telling echo "I think...i think they like each other!"

"She scared the living life out me" you sigh out with a hand placed on your chest as you head back in the marauder tech following close behind. Lifting up his goggles, he begins

"Yes,however next time we take on a romantic endeavor it will be when we are alone." Tech states looking at you as you rub your neck sheepishly and then look around the marauder.

"Speaking of alone.."you trail off you eyes grazing the ship and look back at tech, eyes sparkling with hope

"No"

"But i-"

Man's already followed you like a puppy and finally getting together he just had heart eyes whenever you entered a room

"Wait-where was this thing again wrecker??" you huff out as wrecker drags you out of the ship and he looks at you and then returns his gaze to his destination,

"Me and omega found this place earlier! i wanna show it to ya" he exclaims grinning as he keeps dragging you,

"Okay okay... stop dragging me though" you say laughing as he lets go

"Oh!sorry" he laughs, scratching his head while walking ahead.

"Hmm.....tell you what why don't we run there?winner buys the next box of mantell mix" he says grinning widely as you look at him with widened eyes

"Well that wouldn't be very fair would it?your the one who knows where this place is" you say placing your hands on your hips as you look at him smiling your smile falters as you look around

"Wait wasn't the gang supposed to come?" you ask looking around

"Meh,they'll be alright" wrecker shrugs as you look at the marauder.

"But,i thought we needed.." you trail off as you heard the footsteps near you get further. and you turn around quickly to see wrecker already running before you.

"Wha- Oh no you dont im am not paying for another box of mantell mix!!" You shout as you run after him

At first you two just seemed like you really hated the hell out of each other

Eventually the hostility stopped

The gang was so happy they didn't hear as much bickering anymore

They honestly just thought you two made amends

The back and forth that did happen was...flirty?

At least to Hunter to accidentally overheard you two engaging in small talk

Honestly tho they don't even need to leave the both of you alone,you two will leave before anyone notices XDD

"You don't think they'll get mad..? you say as you follow crosshair across the barren landscape.

"They'll be fine,Now..how about that rematch you promised me?" he turns back to you as you look at him placing hand on your hip and you grin,

"tch tch,i thought we were over this crosshair.." You sigh dramatically as you two continue to keep walking and finally arrive at the destination. Crosshair letting out a airy laugh

"Not quite...i want a rematch." he states stopping ahead of you and grabbing his blaster from his back.

"And..here i thought we were headed out for something romantic" you say looking at the handmade targets ahead of you and you look back at crosshair. As you cross your arms and your smile grows bigger

"I suppose i can teach you a little bit of tricks this time around." You laugh as you pull out your blaster, and crosshair looks at you intrigued

"I was thinking,i would be the one teaching you" he says with his eyes closed as he fiddles with the toothpick between his lips.

"you've got it all wrong my friend..there's a reason i scored more than you last time" you say shaking your pointer finger as crosshair lets out a small "Hm" as he positions himself with his blaster and glancing back at you

"Well,let see about that then." with smug in his voice he begin to concentrate with his yes on the target

"Oh just you see..." you mumble readying yourself for target practice.

Hey, as someone newer to the fandom what is up with the sunset, construction on sunset thing?

hey nonnie! (sorry this took a while <3 I took this as an excuse to compile a full sunset meta post and there was more than I thought!) okay so this one is a little more meta even than the trapped dads meta, buuuut it is one of my favorites, because at least to me it is pretty loud and they've - especially recently - been calling back to it in very cute little ways, but the callback in this episode was the loudest in a WHILE and it is actually a beautiful parallel to the first ocurrence of the whole construction on sunset thing!

so, as far as I know it all dates back to the mention of 'there was construction on sunset, I had to take a detour' in 4x8 when Eddie returns from his math date with Ana to Buck taking care of Christopher and the connection between Ana and Sunset, which was beautifully laid out by @yramesoruniverse here in this post and there is a gifset by @catdadeddie here highlighting the parallel!!

for me personally the fact that they brought both SUNSETS aaand CONSTRUCTION back for this episode, when Eddie is dating again? yeah that was a loud choice! especially the fact that he was called over to do repair/construction work for Pepa, only the real reason (the real construction and the REAL reason for another detour he is taking on his path to love) was the blind date all along and they put not one but two pictures with a potential* sunset onto the walls in Pepa's house to make sure we saw that the 'construction was on sunset' AGAIN xD see this post by yours truly for pictures and lots of yelling! xD

*okay, I say potential sunset, because last night an anon asked about whether it is a sunset or a sunRISE and indeed we do not know for sure! now after that I went onto a google research binge and found that sunrises and sunsets are hard to distinguish on pictures, as they are the exact same phenomenon, only with movement in different directions! the only thing that sometimes makes a distinction possible is the fact that air pollution increases during the day and clears during the night, so sunrises often have a clearer and crisper feel to them than sunset, which in exchange provide more of a color spectacle caused by the increased refraction on the air pollution particles

based on that @stagefoureddiediaz, @mistmarauder and I have come more or less to the conclusion that the picture we see behind eddie could very likely be a sunrise - signaling a new beginning for him, while the picture in the living room, behind vanessa and her tia and connected to the dating of it all, is another sunset - standing for both the construction on sunset causing a detour in eddie's love life of it all, as well as a (potential) relationship coming to a close as soon as it has begun xD

now on the exact meaning of sunsets by themselves we have not yet found exact agreement, but they seem to be about endings, about the sun setting on something, as in the sun setting on a specific relationship or relationship dynamic!

so on this scene in 2x17 where we see Eddie reading Shannon's letter and more or less letting himself say goodbye to her and finally cry over this loss, while on the beach at sunset

@mistmarauder says 'Well, I don't actually think sunsets are Buddie coded. I think they're relationship coded. And really the sun is setting on his relationship with Shannon because she's gone. [...]Sunsets make me think endings. Not beginnings.' and also '[The] Sun sets on one thing and rises on another.' which after a brief conversation @stagefoureddiediaz points out doesn't quite preclude it from relating to Buddie as well by saying 'Not necessarily just because we haven’t got there yet doesn’t mean that that sunset wasn’t relevant to buddie - it’s kind of like a chapter ending - but it’s like that sunset brings on the darkness that is the tsunami which leads to the dawning of a new and different friendship - one we’re still seeing grow and change - I think if we looked at when all the sunsets appear in connection with buddie they’ll come at key moments of shift - so they’re constantly chapter endings - drawing them increasingly closer together - but it’s kind of a secondary theme with the sunsets rather than the primary one'

furthermore we have come to the conclusion that some of the smaller depictions might intentionally be ambiguous on whether or not they are a sunrise or a sunset, because at a turning point it is natural for there to be a chapter that closes and another, new one, that begins!

then we have three posts by @stagefoureddiediaz, this one about the sunset balloon at the bedside of the girl who was living a fake life in 5x15, an episode that had multiple nods to Eddie maybe also not letting himself live his life quite true to who he is! another post for 5x17 and the sunset colors on the cake for ramon's retirement! and then in this very recent costume meta for 6x13 kym points out how in the very lovely buckley-diaz scene with the math homework, Chris is wearing a shirt that has a small pineapple on it that is inlaid with a teeny tiny sunset scene!! she has also pointed out that there is a good chance that the full picture on the front of Chris' yellow shirt that he wears in the scene immediately before the Eddie/Ana break-up in 5x3 is depicting a sunrise/sunset too!

Request: would you be able to do a really sweet fluffy fic with Wanda Maximoff and an autistic reader where reader asks Wanda, “Can you feel me?” (like in the scene from Infinity War at the beginning when Wanda uses her magic to feel Vision’s stone and she says “I just feel you” before all the chaos breaks out) and Wanda uses her magic in the same way and says back “I just feel you.” i hope that made sense, it sounded cute in my head lol.

A/N: This request took me longer than I would’ve liked but I just had my birthday so that threw a wrench in my plans. Also, MOM gave me a few ideas for Wanda fics that I will eventually get around to writing. This fic also ended up including more hair brushing than I expected but whatever lol. Gif found on google. The last few months had been extra stressful. You were swamped with missions and it was being to burn you out. You could feel yourself getting exhausted and needing to pull away. Your girlfriend Wanda, was the first to notice. She watched as you flinched away from the team’s touches and excused yourself to your shared room more often than usual. 

When she entered the room with both of your dinners she frowned as she saw you rocking back and forth a little too passionately. Gently placing the food down on a nearby table, she sat down next to you on the ground. “Rough day?” She called out as you nodded. “May I touch you?” She asked as you thought for a moment before nodding again.

She put her hand out and stroked your hair as you slowed your rocking. As she continued she began to hum a Sokovian lullaby. Gently, she began brushing your hair with her fingers. You leaned into her touch as you felt a calm wash over you.  “Do you want to talk about it?” She asked as you sighed. “There’s not much to talk about. One of my missions got too stressful and I accidentally snapped at someone,” You explained as you frowned and she hummed in acknowledgment. 

“I hate having to mask whenever I’m not with you. It’s so exhausting and it makes me not feel like myself,” You continued as she frowned with you. “Then don’t mask around them. If they don’t like it, screw them,” She huffed. “It’s not that simple Wans,” You replied as she moved to look at you. “I know, but I wish it were,” She sighed as you smiled melancholically. 

“As long as you’re here with me you never have to mask around me though. That’s the best I can offer for now,” She continued as she smiled disappointed in herself for not being able to do more. “Thank you,” You replied as you leaned your forehead in to touch hers. After a few breaths, she leaned back and kissed you on the forehead before speaking, “We really should eat dinner before it gets cold though.” “Right. Do you bring that in already?” You asked as you looked around before noticing the food. “Wow, I must’ve been pretty out of it,” You chuckled before grabbing your food and cuddling up with Wanda on the couch.

A few days later and you had gone on another particularly stressful mission. This one included a loud siren and flashing light that you had to mask through even though it exhausted you. As you stepped off the quinjet you immediately headed to you and Wanda’s room. You turned on the shower before stripping out of your clothes.

You stepped under the water and sighed as you felt the water pelt off of you. You washed yourself off before standing under the water and just letting the water hit you. You vaguely recognized the sound of Wanda entering the bathroom as you lost yourself in your thoughts. 

Hearing a knock on the shower wall you turned to look at her as she smiled at you. “Room for one more?” She asked as you nodded and made room for her. She busied herself with washing herself as you zoned out again. She turned and frowned seeing you looking so far away after she had asked you a question. “Y/n?” She called as you blinked hard before turning towards her. “Yeah?” You asked as she frowned harder. “I asked you if you wanted me to wash your hair,” She repeated. “Oh, uh, I already washed my hair,” You replied as she smiled compassionately at you. 

“I figured, but I know you like how it feels when I wash your hair,” She replied as you tilted your head in contemplation. “I’m okay,” You responded after a pause. “Okay, darling,” She said before turning off the water and grabbing towels for both of you. You both dried off and changed into comfy clothes in silence before Wanda turned on some music while she brushed her hair. When she finished she turned to you and held the brush up. “Want me to brush yours?” She asked before you nodded.

She sat down on the bed near you before beginning to brush through your hair. She carefully untangled your hair as you leaned into her. The gentle brushing felt very relaxing after such a long day. It also helped that it provided just the right sensory input. When she finished up you turned around to face her and crawled into her lap. Hugging her and hiding yourself in her neck, she put the brush down and pulled you close. 

After a few minutes, you pulled back and chewed on your lip as you contemplated what to say. Wanda’s gaze softened as she watched before she brought one of her hands up to hold your face. You looked back at her when you felt her and sighed before looking down. “I know I mentioned it recently but I’m so tired from all this masking. I just don’t feel like myself, and I, I don’t know. I guess I’m asking if, if you can feel me?” You asked as you moved her hand up to your forehead. 

She smiled softly before red mist came out of her fingers and connected with your temple. You felt her sift through your mind as you watched her close her eyes. “I just feel you,” She replied after a moment. Leaning forward you gently crashed your body into hers again as she fell back on the bed. “Thank you,” You spoke up after a pause. “No problem dear,” She replied softly before you propped yourself up on your elbows over her.

“What?” She asked as you gazed at her. “Nothing, you’re just really pretty and kind,” You replied as you watched her blush and look away. “Come here goof,” She responded before pulling you in to kiss her. You sighed into the kiss as you felt her love and warmth rush through you. As you pulled back you licked your lips and Wanda raised her eyebrow. 

“You chapstick tastes good,” You answered and she hummed in response. “It’s mango flavored,” She replied before pulling you back into her embrace. Cuddling up to her, you once again buried your head in her as she began to draw patterns on your back. You felt your eyelids grow heavy before letting yourself succumb to sleep in your girlfriend’s arms.

my thoughts on My Journey to You

Disclaimer: there will be spoilers below the cut!

Firstly I have to say that this was a drama I was anticipating so much and it was mainly because of two reasons: the cast and the director. The news of Esther doing another drama with Ling He made me very excited to watch the drama even before knowing what the show was about and when I saw that Edward Guo was the director, I knew I HAD to watch it because I loved the movie The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity that was also directed by him. When the trailer dropped I almost cried of happiness of how good it looked! And I know trailer can be deceiving some times but still got me excited and looking forward the release. 

After watching the first episode I was very overwhelmed by it because since from the start the drama showcased amazing visuals, top notching costumes and an intriguing plot. And I felt the same feeling after watching every episode because it always got better and better.

So I will divide my thoughts in categories:

Characters:

One thing that made me really interested in the drama was the characters because they weren’t written shallowly. Although the english title for the drama is “My Journey to you” I think it should be called “A journey to yourself” because the main thing I got from characters is that they were on a journey to find their identity. 

Weishan was a Wufeng spy/assassin but she wanted to be more than that, she wanted freedom to live as her real self that it was taken from her.

Ziyu always felt neglected by his father and it was one of the reasons he had no aspirations and didn’t know what he was and what he wanted.

Shang Jue was definitely the most suitable to be the World Wielder, he was capable, logical and already passed the three trials of the three realms but still felt like it wasn’t enough and lived blaming himself after what happened with this mother and brother.

Yuan Zhi had literally a brother complex with Shang Jue because he also blamed himself for what happened with Shang Jue’s little brother and lived his life trying to be the perfect brother to him.

Zi Shang was always downlooked by the others in the Gong family, mostly because she is a woman and didn’t meet expectations that they had for her, she was really smart but people always though of her being a superfluous woman who goes after man.

Jin Fan was a talent since he was a kid and had to give up the most precious thing to him that it was being a Red Jade Guardian so to meet the expectations of being a good guardian to Ziyu he had to shut down the things he wanted and the things he felt.

Shangquan is the only character I couldn’t really get into it because it’s hard to know what she really feels and thinks :(

So, with that being said, I think the development of the characters where they try to find their real selfs was the most solid thing in the drama. 

Visuals:

Another thing that makes this show amazing it is the visuals! Since the cinematography, the costumes to the fighting choreography, it is really impeccable! 

The director did such a great job to capture the feelings, the elements and really helped upgrade the tension of some scenes! All the scenes that had water as a primordial element were my favorite!

The couples:

I must say that even tho I got interested in the drama before airing because of the main cast pairing, when I was watching the drama, the romance was definitely on second plan. Of course it was great and cute but was not the priority for me so when the two main couples of the drama didn’t had their “happy endings” I was not bothered by it because it make sense. It was known from the very beginning that a relationship between someone from Wufeng and the Gong family was doomed so I was glad that at least none of them died because I think that this would make it a really sad ending.

The plot:

I’m still amazed by how the things turned out with the plot, and yes, there was some things that was left without a proper explanation but it still made emends to give some closured to the main story and for that I am satisfied. 

When I think about a drama is really more about how the episodes influenced me while watching than only judging it by the last episode. So, the intriguing questions and theories made while I was watching and how they “played” with the audience’s mind were another solid point that sold the drama to me.

Editing:

For a drama, specially wuxia, to have 24 episodes can make the audience feels some rushes at the latest episodes but for me personally I think it didn’t rushed at all but again, some might feel different about this. I still think that if the drama had like two more episodes it could make some questions to be answered (specially about Wufeng’s leader and Weishan twin sister plot) but this is what we got for now. I really doubt (even tho I really want) they would make a special episode to give it proper closure to the cliffhanger that was left at the end :(

Acting:

Must I say, the acting of the cast is astonishing! They portrayed the characters so well that I could feel their emotions and sympathize (and cry) with them, such a great job made by a great casting!

Ost:

The soundcheck for this show is amazing and it really compliments the drama!

Overall, it was an awesome journey to watch the drama and it’s definitely one of my favorites of the year and among the all the dramas I’ve watched. I might have forgot to say some things I’m not recalling at the moment but for now, I will give it 9,5/10.

Besides being the Clan’s Recruiter, Jhope's specialty was cleaning up his brothers' messes.

Whether it was the bloodied body of an enemy killed by Suga in a back alley.

Or JK getting a little out of hand in one of his fights.

Or that time Taehyung crashed a brand new Lamborghini into a historical sculpture in the city.

And let's not talk about the incident involving the Bengal tigers that Jimin asked him to bring to the club for one of his shows.

It still made him want to throw up every time he remembered it. Let's just say that in the end, they weren't cute kittens.

Anything that needed to be fixed Jhope would fix it.

Anything the clan asked for Jhope found it.

Anybody that had to dissapear...

You get the picture.

But even in all his years belonging to the Seven Moons he never thought he would witness a disaster the size of the one tonight. If someone had told him about it, he probably would have laughed in their face. His two brothers were fighting over the same woman.

In public.

At Jimin 's club.

Unbelievable.

Well, he wasn't so sure Namjoon really had feelings for you. The right hand was known throughout Asia as the most eligible bachelor. Hope knew of her brother's reputation with women. But Suga, he had never seen him behave like that. He never went to the club and when he did, he ignored all the angels. Male or female, he didn't care.

JHope was beginning to think that his brother had made a weird celibacy pact with the Leader.

Never in a million years did he imagine that he would witness Suga, the most indifferent man on the face of the earth. Who didn't care about you or anyone or anything, literally make out on an alley like a horny teenager during prom night. 

And to top that with the pretty pampered heiress of one of his father's allies. 

Unbelievable, really.

He really didn't want to be there when the Leader found out what happened in the club. The thought of it  sent a shiver down his spine.They would probably both end up castrated. Although that would not be very beneficial to the clan now that he thought about it.

If it left the two leading candidates to inherit the clan without the possibility of having children…

“Jhope, where are we going?” your voice croaked from the passenger seat.

He was so focused on his internal monologue that he had forgotten that you, the aforementioned daughter of a former clan chief, fiancée of the heir, possible mother of the Seven Moons' legacy....

He had lost himself in his thoughts again, 

“We must wait for things to calm down, Princess Nari '' he gave you a quick glance as he continued driving “Suga-hyung and Namjoon must be at this very moment extreme make overing each other's face with their fists and later when they get to the house, our father is going to finish what's left of them.”

You shrunk a little, he realized that your pupils were still very dilated, lips trembling as you were about to cry “Hey, princess calm down. We've all had a bad trip. Tomorrow you can say you don't remember anything and that you have low resistance to designer drugs. It's probably true, two doses of the new formula that arrived today from the labs mixed with alcohol? Wow, even I would have kissed Suga-hyung” That brought a smile to your face.

“Jhope, have you ever been to Russia?” he paused for a second to look at you, surprised a bit by the sudden question.

“Oh yeah, several times. It comes with the job, you know? I've been on several tours around the world, I like to call that my Mafia Tours. I'm sure you'd love it, if you take away the drugs, the guys with guns and the probability of getting arrested at an airport... Again “Jhope winked at the last part and the car came to a stop at a small warehouse.

“Let's go. You can have a hot tea and finish passing the Molly effect. And If you promise not to kiss me too, I'll tell you a bit of my story to keep you entertained” You nodded and got out of the van to follow Jhope.

Jhope’s small warehouse was on the outskirts of Seoul. It was a dimly lit space filled with stacked crates and boxes, casting long shadows on the concrete floor. The air was thick with the scent of musty cardboard and stale cigarettes, and the only sounds were the distant hum of passing cars and the occasional rat scurrying across the floor.

You noticed a few young men and women sitting on a table on the far back of the place. Most of them barely looked a day older than eighteen.

Some of them probably were still in highschool. 

Or at least supposed to be. 

They spoke in hushed tones, their faces obscured by the shadows, as they dealt in illicit goods and discussed the inner workings of their assignments. 

To put it in a simpler way. 

They were the clan’s runners. 

Rookies that were being trained by Jhope to push merchandise in the streets of Seoul. The real reason why he was also one of the Clan’s favorites to inherit the leadership. Is because he was in charge of recruiting and training the new generation of the clan. Raise them, to become ruthless gangsters like him.

And you guessed it. 

They were all extremely loyal to him.

Jhope guided you to a staircase that led to the second floor, secluded from the numerous containers that lined the place. Two men, more like boys, were guarding the front door and when they saw them arrive they bowed in respect. “Oh and Princess Nari, you can call me Hobi. That's what the people I like call me” 

He opened two heavy metal doors. Inside, the room was sparsely furnished with a simple wooden desk, a few mismatched chairs, and a filing cabinet pushed against the wall. The walls were bare, save for a few framed certificates and diplomas hanging crookedly, giving the impression that the space had been abandoned long ago.

“Let's see, first the tea and then the story. Come on, drink up” Jhope passed you a hot cup as you sat together on the small couch. You could see pictures and souvenirs from different parts of the world.

He was about to start his story when a quiet knock was heard on the other side of the office’s door. “Boss, do you have a minute?” Soo-jin, a young recruit, and one of Jhope’s favorites, was standing on the other side. 

“So-jin, I hope it's something too important for you to think you have the right to come into my office like this, when I have company." Jhope said.

She nodded strongly, "Yes, yes. Boss, you have to see this for yourself.

Jhope got up to follow the young woman. He stopped  before the doorframe to give you an empathetic look. “Stay here, Princess Nari. Then we continue our conversation”

The air was thick with tension in Jhope’s warehouse as he stood across Soo-jin. He knew the young woman since she was a scrappy teenager who just dropped out of school. In a way, he saw her as a younger sister. 

And he knew perfectly well that careful expression she had on her face right now. Like a kid who’s about to tell their parents they failed a class. 

He saw through the broken window and released a tired sigh "So, what did you find out about my brothers?" JHope leaned forward, his piercing gaze fixed on Soo-jin.

Soo-jin shifted in her feet, her eyes darting nervously around the room. "I...I followed them for a few days, like you asked me to," she began hesitantly. "And I found out that...they're both involved in shady business. I saw the right hand covered in blood leaving the Han-yong bath house last night. He is definitely the one behind the murder of the leaders."

"What about the Shadow?" he asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Soo-jin licked her lips nervously before answering. "I'm not sure, but it's something big. He was meeting with some men in a warehouse on the outskirts of the city. I tried to get closer, but one of them spotted me and I had to run."

“Boss” she continued, eyes trembling and her voice almost a whisper “Those men are the same that attacked the Shadow’s warehouse three months ago. It was staged. They were working for him”

Jhope’s face remained impassive, but inwardly he seethed with anger at the news. He had always known that his brothers were ambitious, but he never thought they would stoop so low as to betray their own family.

He leaned back on the wall behind him, his mind racing. He knew he had to do something to prevent his brothers from fucking everthing up with whatever scheme they were planning. 

But he also knew that he couldn't do it alone.

"Thank you, Soo-jin," he said finally. "You've done well. I need you to keep an eye on them for me. And if you find anything else, let me know immediately."

Soo-jin nodded, relief washing over her. She had been worried about what Jhopes's reaction would be, but he had always been fair to her, even when she made mistakes.

He stood up, his tall frame towering over her. "You can go now. I’ll take it from here," he said, gesturing for her to go down the stairs.

Jhope's mind was already working on a plan to stop his brothers. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he was determined to protect his family at all costs, even if it meant going up against his own flesh and blood.

Because Jung Hoseok’s specialty was cleaning up his brother’s messes. 

Even if he also had to take care of them.

Of course you had heard everything. 

The second Jhope left you alone in his office you bolted to the door and hid behind it. You already knew Namjoon was up to no good, but now you could link him to the murders of the ten Mob Leaders that were killed last night. You guessed that he did it behind his clan’s back by the way he was acting this morning.  But now you knew for sure that the only biological son of Kim Dohan was conspiring against his father.

And the shadow…

You had to dig deeper into the information about the attack on the main shipping port. Maybe you could use some persuasion techniques. 

Definitely not an excuse. 

You were just doing your job.

After giving several sips to your hot tea, you started to feel the effect of the drugs wear off. Looking at the pictures Jhope had scattered around his walls, you realized that most were from places where the most powerful clans, mafias and cartels reside.

Also some pictures with gang leaders you helped take down. 

Well, fuck.

“I look pretty handsome in that one. Right, princess?” You were so startled by his voice that you almost dropped your cup. 

“I- I got bored waiting for you” you said begging internally that he would believe you. He gave you a cheeky grin “I’m sorry, it took longer than expected. Are you feeling better? Do you want to continue the story?”

You nodded as you both walked again to the couch “Hobi, how did you end up in the clan? I mean, I know Namjoon and Jin were born into it. But what about you, did you always belong here?” 

“Uhmm you can say yes and no, princess” Jhope pursed his lips in a thoughtful gesture before continuing to answer “My family was involved for many years in the trafficking and smuggling of goods. Not at these levels, of course. But let's just say they were trading partners of the clan.”

“To make a long story short, my parents were caught by the police. My dad was convicted and my mom ran away, I haven't heard from her in many years” the man's gaze saddened and you let him continue. You couldn't help but feel a little bad to hear his story. 

You remember that from his file.

A father in prison.

A mother in exile.

And a sister who had left him more than 10 years ago.

Leaving him alone in the middle of their mess.

“I was left alone at a quite young age. For the 15 year old Jung Hoseok the best answer to that was drugs and dropping out of school. It wasn't easy, let me tell you” he let out a dark chuckle “I had to be pretty creative to get something to get high on the streets of Gwangju” 

He looked out of the office window deep in his own thoughts “Eventually that creativity led me to the Leader, our father. He offered me a roof over my head and free dope if I joined his clan. But the only condition was that I had to finish High School” Jhope laughed but his smile never reached his eyes.

“I was more than enthusiastic about the free drugs and not long after I discovered that I had a talent inherited from my parents for, you know, scamming. That made me a useful man to our father. The feeling that I belonged to something made me stay clean..... well, almost” Now he was silent, looking a little lost in his own memories.

“That's why I chose that code name, Jhope. Hope. Of never returning to my past self.” He said with a sad sigh.

15 years old. Too young to be an addict, you thought.

“Tell me about Russia” you asked trying to lighten the mood a bit  “Do you have friends there?”

“We mobsters don't have friends, Princess Nari. Only associates, acquaintances and enemies” Jhope again went back to his usual smile “But yes, in Russia I met someone some years ago. I convinced her to stay away from this world... ironic, isn't it? But for some reason, in the time I was with her I didn't feel so lonely”

The hell?!

He was talking about Anya. You were sure of it.

Does he know she works for Interpol?

You could feel your heart racing and this time you were sure it wasn't from the effect of any drugs.  The image of the young woman in the store came to your mind. Jhope and Garam were too much alike, they had the same mannerisms when they spoke. The possibility that they were siblings perhaps seemed crazy, but to an agent's brain it made all the sense in the world.

It has to be...

“Hobi, do you have any other blood relatives? Like, you know, a sister?”

“What?” The man's expression turned completely dark in a second “Who. The fuck. Told you. About my sister?” he uttered every word approaching you, no longer looking like the friendly person he always was.

Maybe this was his true face.

But before you could even think about what she could answer him a clansman rushed into the office. “Boss! The dragon! The- they sent something again. I am very sorry to interrupt, but you need to see this” the young man's face was one of complete terror, as if he had seen the devil himself.

“The Dragon '' You furrowed your eyebrows at the name, remembering what you’ve read about the clan wars 20 years ago. But the report said that the whole Jade Dragon Clan was wiped clean by Kim Dohan. 

You thought that there were no survivors.

But you were wrong.

Very wrong.

“Stay here,Princess. Please.” He stood up quickly and rushed out of the door. Obviously, you were not going to stay there. You wanted to know what all the fuss was about.

It didn’t take a second to reject that you didn’t listen to Jhope.

You  failed to stop a scream of terror as you peeked over the railing of the stairs. Inside one of the containers were at least 30 completely mutilated and decomposed corpses stacked on top of each other.

Looking at them, it was hard to believe they were ever human.

And above of them a dragon's head made of solid gold, biting into a round piece of Jade. Watching you on top of that mountain of death. Hanging from the bodies was a message of victory, which seemed to have been written in blood:

This is how the devil pays for your loyalty.

That is when you realized that all of the corpses had the tattoo of the seven Moons on their necks.

They were clansmen.

And The Devil.

The note was referring to Kim Dohan making it clear that he had betrayed his own men.

That is how the Devil pays for his loyalty.

These were the men Namjoon had ordered to kill three days before.

The ones Suga was sent to disappear.

And you had a bad feeling that if you didn't find out what had happened there....

You would soon join them.

I tought a lot about publishing this chapter today or not. First I have to confess that i did not plan that Hobi's special chapter would drop the day of his enlistment.

But today has been a very weird/sad day and I needed to just change this feelings into something productive. So I finished translating/adapting this chapter.

Hate! Hobi is one of my ultimate fav characters, we love a dual king.

And for real life Hobi, we will miss you 💗

in the first half before they even started dating Deku is very infatuated with Bakugo but when they are dating he's not as crazy, i don't mean like he isn't crazy in love i mean before dating he's super nervous about a lot of things but the longer they date and get to know each other romantically the less like uppercase letters he becomes and after dating for at least 2 years he's chill you know what i mean? Bakugo is a little the same way he doesn't know things he can and can't do sometimes he wants to make a move but he wont in respect for Deku. After the apology he wants to stop calling him Deku but it's his cute nickname and he has a whole ass conversation with him even though Deku said it was ok he still felt the need to approach this in a safe environment "I know you said it was ok but i don't like calling you Deku anymore, but i can't stop myself so im using round face's meaning when i say it. they have this conversation while snuggled up together before they sleep. Bakugo affectionately calls him Deku, still calls him nerd, just a little less shit-stain and ass-wipe and stuff like that. i saw a tiktok where it was like after Bakugo apologized he had to come up with nicer ways to bully Deku (cause he is going to bully him for life, there is no changing this) he like just comes in his room and closes his laptop and turns out the light on his way out leaving the door half closed and not closed all the way and Deku is like "WHY?" lmao love that other anon's kiss scene after they fight all might in the exams, other kisses for me include, after they fight nines, when recover girl is healing Bakugo's purple arms he waits until she leaves so he can kiss Deku. This one is hungry and passionate. After they do that thing where the building collapsed and Deku helped Bakugo out (when he used him as a cane) in the changing room when they are changing out of their costumes he kisses him a thank you but doesn't say it cause this kiss is enough. when they were working at the endeavor agency they literally have their own rooms you know they will be making out in one or the others room a lot. they kiss in the dorms early in the morning or before they go to bed. Bakugo is destin to cook with whoever his partner is so he loves cooking with Deku and he is going to kiss his cheek regardless if someone is looking or not he doesnt give a damn. They kissed in the war when his body moved on it's own if there is a possible way to fit one in there when Deku left the group and Bakugo followed him. Bakugo had a bad feeling and kissed him cause he felt like something bad was going to happen and it did. they kissed when he apologized don't tell me they didn't, when Deku fell into his arms they kissed i saw it. Bakugo kissed Deku when he was in the hospital bed before the vigilante ark when Deku wasn't conscious. Deku could be the one initiating some of these kisses but it's usually Bakugo cause he wants to show his love and that's all he knows to do. We already talked about their love languages and i love talking about them being in love.

I'm so glad this is the last ask of the night, we're ending today in such a sweet way 🥹

I wholeheartedly agree with you in the beginning, I think the word we're looking for is comfortable. Izuku is crazy and paranoid over katsuki because a lot of things about their dynamic before are uncomfortable (of course, he always had admiration as well, but it's obvious he wasn't really comfortable with bakugo). Their first year or so of friendship and then daring is then trying to find their footing in a new dynamic, how to be themselves and build something good for both of them. But years into the relationship tho? izuku is comfortable he can be crazy and nerdy sometimes (especially if new kacchan merch drops) but overall he loves his boyfriend and he loves who he is with him, I think they would eventually reach a peaceful pacing on the relationship where there's no need for the "fear" of messing up in fron of the other.

Now, this is not to say they don't play or are little shits with each other, like you said, katsuki would have to find ways to bully him that are not actually bad bad, but he would not stop cause it's their essence. I think izuku would be the same, he's used to this and he plays along and sometimes even say something back and that catches bakugo by surprise and everyone around says they're really spending too much time together (not enough time in their opinion lol)

I dont think I have something new to say about the kisses because I agree with you so so so much 🥺 izuku is always a little shy in public but bakugo will always kiss him regardless because that's his damn boyfriend and if he wants to kiss him, he will! they almost died (it happened several times), he will not waste any opportunities!!
