Character Redesign: 04-12-21
So I'm thinking of making this a thing.
Looking through "most recent" while searching "OC" on Deviantart, I came across one created by mochalon3 . The most striking thing about the character was her left eye, and her horns.
Just about immediately I had some inspiration for how I would recreate her. I decided to go for the old bad powers, good people trope and make half of her body scaled, crystaline-demon form, like some kind of curse... but disfigurement and tearing clothes aside, she's doing quite well for herself. As for her clothing itself, I decided nothing needed much changing and was ideal for late spring/ early autumn. What's she doing? Probably relaxing in the park and waiting for her friends!
So enjoy this unsolicited redesign of your character, dear creator!

I’m gonna post a bunch of art here today if no one minds.
Short comic is read from right to left because the only comics I’ve read are manga and thus my brain is too used to reading right to left in comics.
More OC. This is Vincent von Larkspur, and he hasn’t had a good day. The stuff on his face is supposed to be scales btw. Apologies for inconsistencies between both pictures I made these a few days apart from one another. Also this was a good excuse to draw some fancy outfits, I like drawing fancy outfits (as long as they don’t involve crazy patterns).
This will be a weird question and since you seem to be into that, you're the best person to ask! Do you think the Ice Crew deal with pimples in their scales? I heard some form of that exists in some lizards and reptiles.
Interesting question, and I never knew about that. Upon researching, reptiles technically don’t get pimples and acne since they do not posses sweat pores, unlike humans who do. So, because of the lack of pores, there is nothing to get clogged or dirtied up like how acne is created. HOWEVER, they can get blisters, parasites, cysts, abrasions, certain bacterial infections, etc, which are treated like any other dangerous infections. Here’s a link about it: Reptile Skin Basics
“What if they already had acne when they transformed?” My guess would be because their skin changes from having pores to non, depending on how deep the clog is, the pimples either pop or stay and become squishy bumps within the skin filled with oil, dead skin cells, bacteria, etc that could become infected if not treated properly.
An alternative theory would be their skin does not necessarily become scales, but just harden to, like, rhino skin levels with some short fuzzies of fur, very much like rhinos and elephants. With this theory, they could possibly keep their acne, because hair pores exist in this version, but maybe not gain anymore? Or very rarely because acne is really a human thing and not any other animal thing?
I dunno; you decide. I’d personally prefer the former with the full fledged scales because demon magic.
Animal scales are a part of the epidermis, which is the top most layer of skin on humans. Most animals are known to have the softer version of keratin while reptiles and birds are known to have the tougher variety.
I’m not a doctor, but this is my conclusion upon researching.
P.S. For everyone, yeah I’m good with weird questions, but I also have my limits. So, like, most science stuff is A-Okay, but once you get into, like, paraphilia stuff, there may not be questions I’d be comfortable answering. Just an FYI to you all.
