Scam 1992 (2020)
🎬Set in 1980s and '90s Bombay, it follows the life of Harshad Mehta, a stockbroker who took the stock market to dizzying heights and his catastrophic downfall.
📝I recently joined Sony TV in order to watch the excellent 'Rocket Boys'. Decided to check this out and it's brilliant. The way it's shot, acting and the unbelievable and mind-blowing story of Harshad Mehta, the formidable reporter, the other players is just very good. If you enjoyed movies like 'Wall Street' and particularly 'The Wolf of Wallstreet', you will enjoy this a lot. It's just brilliant and thought provoking too.
The lead Pratik Gandhi is just phenomenal. I googled him and found out that he will be starting in a TV Series about Mahatma Gandhi's life before he became a freedom fighter. Cannot wait. He is such a gifted actor.

Scam 1992 Explained: How Harshad Mehta, brokers and banks gamed the system
The irregularities in securities transactions of the banks and financial companies known as securities scam, which came to light in the second quarter of 1992 is unprecedented in many respects. Both the volume and the involvement of individuals and the institutions were various and stupendous. It embraces among others foreign banks, financial and other public/private sector corporations, the principal stock exchanges, select brokers, and persons occupying high offices.
The securities scandal of 1992, with Harshad Mehta as its main player, is back in collective consciousness nearly three decades after it was perpetrated, thanks to Sony LIV's popular web series Scam 1992.
While the series has been praised for its largely accurate portrayal of the events that transpired -- down to a fleeting mention of the fiscal deficit in the Budget 1986 speech, as is shown when a character is watching it on TV -- there are only so many details that it can capture given the scope of the medium.
Here's a detailed FAQ that takes an in-depth look at the Securities Scam 1992.
At its core, what was the Securities Scam 1992 about?
Stockbrokers wanted to borrow funds to deploy in the market. Stringent RBI regulations restricted them from borrowing from banks, the cheapest source of funds. Brokers found a workaround built on trading in government securities, colluding with banks, circumventing RBI rules, getting their hands on bank funds and diverting it to the stock market.
Brokers and banks got help from public sector undertakings (PSUs), which were looking for avenues to deploy their temporary surpluses. In violation of rules, PSUs started taking positions in the securities market through the portfolio management services (PMS) schemes run by banks.
This wall of money fuelled massive speculation in stocks between April 1991 and May 1992, and caused a near fourfold jump in the BSE Sensex.

More than 1,000 trafficking victims were rescued in separate operations in Southeast Asia over the last week, officials in Indonesia and the Philippines said.
Indonesian officials said Sunday they freed 20 of their nationals who were trafficked to Myanmar as part of a cyber scam, amid an increase in human trafficking cases in Southeast Asia. Fake recruiters had offered the Indonesians high-paying jobs in Thailand but instead trafficked them to Myawaddy, about 567 kilometers (352 miles) south of Naypyidaw, the capital, to perform cyber scams for crypto websites or apps, said Judha Nugraha, an official in Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Ministry.

After one year, two-thirds of the children who used the patch and one-third of the placebo group met the trial’s primary endpoint. The participants with a less sensitive peanut allergy could safely tolerate the peanut protein equivalent of eating three or four peanuts.

JUDY was born Judith Daphne Song (Korean Name: Song Namjoo; 송남주 ) was born an only child on April 10, 1991, in Sacramento, California to Daniel Song and Yoon Shinae — she was the rainbow baby of her parents, coming into their lives after a period of intense loss for the couple. A year after her birth, the family of three moved from California to Dobong-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Her father passed away from a car accident three months after moving to Korea.
Daniel’s death forced Shinae to work several jobs during Judy’s childhood and adolescence, and because of this a strained (and basically nonexistent) relationship formed between the two.
During her high school years, JUDY found her passion for singing. She auditioned for over 20 agencies but failed to succeed in any of them — during this time she was scammed by fake agencies. JUDY gave up after two years of failing to secure a successful audition.
JUDY was scouted by Cult Creative Records in 2008, she became a trainee under it that same year and would quickly become the first trainee for the HOTPINK Project (which would be scrapped two months after its conception). JUDY debuted five years later at twenty-two as Cult Creative Records’ first solo artist.

Jean-Michel Meurice (French, 1938 – 2022).
A student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Tournai, his youth was marked by a dual passion for painting and cinema. In 1960, while serving in the army in Algeria, he produced one of his first works that brought his two passions together: a three-hundred-metre-long painted film whose motif is composed solely of the repetitive traces of fingers and brushes; projected onto a screen, it is transformed into a moving painting lasting ten minutes. Since then he has pursued a dual career as a painter and film-maker.
In 1963 he made his first trip to the United States, where he discovered painting that was free of codes, the abstraction of Ad Reinhardt and the dripping and all-over processes that had made Pollock famous.
He painted repetitive shapes (stripes or dots) on large formats, using spray cans or sponges. The traditional canvas was often replaced by plastic sheeting or other unusual supports. In 1966 he exhibited at Jean Fournier’s in Paris with Hantaï, Degottex, Buraglio, Parmentier and Rouan, and was one of the co-founders of the Support/Surface movement.
Alongside his work as a painter, he has been involved in a number of audiovisual projects since 1960. He began his work as a film-maker with a series of portraits of artists (Bram Van Velde, Sonia Delaunay, Alberto Burri, etc.), making 13 short films on art. His documentary films, which have already won 7 d’Or awards, were awarded the Grand Prix National de la Création Audiovisuelle in 1992 and the Grand Prix de la SCAM in 2010.

Submitting Lena from 1992 animated Little Mermaid for Loser’s Bracket.
My propaganda is:
Her movie kinda sucked yeah and is like a bargain bin scam for grandmas yeah. But she’s cute and there’s a little charm to it if you have childhood bias like me. Also it stings a little that she kinda lost to a character who’s technically in here twice. Give her another shot.
Your nomination has been recorded! Thank you <3
