My Ao3 Wrapped

Last year, on December 30th, I did my Spotify wrapped, but with Ao3. So a Ao3 Wrapped I read 123 complete fanfics that totaled 2,170,440 words, 80% of these fanfics were from the Star Wars fandom and the rest were Superbat and Spiderpool. (Also I read 10k words every hour, sooo this means i spent 217 HOURS just reading on Ao3.) THIS YEAR we still have a whole month to go and I've already reached 220 fanfics… I think I'll post the results of this year's Ao3 Wrapped on December 31st, along with my favorite stories from each fandom that i was a part of (The mandalorian, Star Wars, batfamily, 911, marvel, teen wolf) It's a lot of fun to see the results of hours and hours of reading summarized, and I'd love to see other people do this and share (if someone does it, let me know because i never saw it)

spider-man’s fight or flight is consistent, in any and all situations you can count on the vigilante picking fight, even when it isn’t in his best interest.

peter parker however, will always run— he can’t throw a punch or raise his voice for the life of him, the second something happens he feels the veins along his arms freeze and the only thing he’s able to process is his body telling him to run.

it’s an odd thing, he doesn’t understand it. aliens showing up on his field trip? easy, but telling flash to piss off or talking to tony about his feelings? his body shuts down in seconds.

it’s just easier to help others— choosing to fight when it means he’ll be protecting someone is just second nature at this point. but protecting himself? thats when things get hard.

You know that trope where a rogue sorcerer knocks Peter's astral form out of his body during a fight, and Tony finds him and thinks Peter's dead? Fic where the roles are reversed: Tony's astral form is knocked from his body, and Peter is the one to find him there. Tony has to watch from the astral plane, completely helpless, as Peter breaks down worse than he has ever seen. The kid is holding onto him and sobbing. (Bonus if he's saying something like: "Not you too, not you too," and Tony realizes he's also thinking about Ben.)

Somehow the other Avengers get Peter away. In some of the Peter fics, Tony carries Peter's body from the battlefield back onto the jet. Peter is definitely strong enough that he could do that too, if he still couldn't bear to let go. Tony follows them all onto the jet, still invisible in his astral form. He sees the shock and grief in his team, and it's more than he was expecting, but nothing is as bad as watching Peter stare down at his motionless body, believing that he's just lost another father.

Back at base, Dr. Strange shows up for some reason and realizes what's going on. He does the big reveal / sudden fix and gets Tony back into his body again. The first thing Tony does is reach out for his kid, who is immediately hugging him so tight and breaking down.

Extra points if the dad thing is explicitly stated, either with Peter calling him Dad or with the Avengers understanding the whole time that this is Tony's son.

i think the most important thing to know when writing tony stark is that he is just so scared. he is so scared all the time and has never had a coherent thought since 2010 because he is always so scared and he would do anything to just stop being scared. including face the thing that’s scaring him.

it always just hits me that:

tony was abused and emotionally neglected since he was a child

he was expected to "toughen up" so he was sent to boarding school, where he was bullied by the other kids (the bullying itself i don't recall being confirmed in the mcu, but i'm assuming it is)

his first real friend is probably rhodey... and they're already teenagers here, right?

So you prepare. This time, you’re ready for it.

“Peter, could you tell me about what’s going on in that head of yours?” Sam tries to distract from the stitches, from the necessary work, that would allow the wound to heal. But he also needed to know what had happened, why it had happened, how he could help, how he could prevent it from happening again. “I can see the gears ticking in there. What has you so wound up?”

“I-“ Peter stops himself. Sam watches carefully as Peter takes a deep breath, giving the kid space to center himself, to calm himself. “I… I didn’t mean to,” Peter stammers out, eyes still glued to the floor, “I just, but then… I-“Then the first sob echoes from him, and tears stream down his cheeks, leaving wet trails behind. “Please, I… don’t tell dad… don’t tell Tony I-“

“Hey, hey” Sam snaps his fingers in front of Peter’s face, attempting to get him to look up at him. Meeting him at Peter’s level. “You did nothing wrong, okay? You’re okay. No one blames you for this, it’s okay. You are safe here. Alright?”

Tony doing exactly what Wanda did in Multiverse of Madness in order to get Peter (& Morgan?) back after losing them. Could be through science or magic or etc. In the end, he has to make the same choice that MoM Wanda has to make, knowing that the alternate versions of his kids will be loved.
