Unexpected Places

The last thing David expected, or wanted, was for a phone call from his sister to interrupt his viewing of 'The Holiday' and drag him out into the Canadian mountains after her car breaks down. Add to that the worsening snowstorm as he travels further north and Alexis accepting a complete stranger's invitation to wait in his cabin until David can get to her and the day has taken a very different and highly unwelcome turn than the one he was anticipating.

But then he meets the stranger, and perhaps he can forgive Alexis this one. After all, he's seen the film before but Patrick is new.

David Rose and the Gingerbeard Man

David Rose has exceedingly low expectations of the Elmdale Christmas Street Party. After visiting the Kristkindlemarkts of Austria, Germany and Northern France, revelling in artisan wares and unique delicacies, he doubts anything can live up to the festive romance he experienced in his twenties.

Best Budd, Stevie, refuses to let David wallow through his second Christmas in Schitt's Creek.

Lured by the smell of baked goods and a smattering of tasteful stalls, David meets a gingerbeard man who makes him feel gooey inside. But David doesn't like gingerbread....orr gingerbeards. Does he?

While helping out at the church’s rummage sale, Patrick meets a well dressed man with horrible taste in gifts.

After the game, David intercepted Patrick on Patrick’s way back to the locker room. Stevie snapped photos as Patrick pulled David into a kiss. He held onto his stick in one hand, the wood precariously close to knocking David in the head, and the other pulled David into him by the ass, the glove lost in the blue and white of the jersey David was wearing, the name “BREWER” stamped loud and proud on his back.

Or, David is a hockey BF.

Odd Man Rush: An attacking move where the defense is outnumbered by the opposing team.

The Trials and Tribulations of Stevie’s Stupid Fucking Winter Coat

Thought I’d share a peek behind the curtains of my origami version of Stevie’s winter coat. Or Stevie’s Stupid Fucking Winter Coat as I came to curse it. Try as I might, I could not find an origami tutorial for anything approximating a gigantic puffy hooded winter coat, so I had to start from scratch. And it did not go well. 🤣🤣🤣

Perhaps not completely horrendous as a stand alone piece... but it was all together too much hood while stood next to the empty spaces of where David’s and Patrick’s heads would be. 

So back to the drawing board. From that to this (still too hooded) attempt that I abandoned before even completing:

To what would become the final design with the hood down:

A design I struggled to recreate with my final paper choice because I am a chaotic mess who didn’t adequately document how I made it in the first place. 

But I got close enough to it with this, I think. 

If I wasn’t so enamored with Stevie’s adorable tiny hat I probably would have chucked it in and just made David's and Patrick’s outfits.

If one thing is for certain, David Rose is not in New York anymore.

Sure, he knew that, but when his boyfriend mentioned that he and his fellow band members, Ted and Twyla, as well as their manager Rachel, were heading back to their Canadian hometown for the annual holiday charity concert, he pictured a charming Toronto suburb, not the middle of fucking nowhere. There are cows out here.

Patrick and his indie band head back to their hometown to perform for the annual holiday charity concert, and David tags along, even though they are still keeping their relationship a secret.

This is my fic for @scfrozenover! I hope to explore the indie band Patrick universe a little bit more and write a prequel to this someday.

David just always knew that Santa wasn’t real.

Adelina had tried her best to make up for lost ground with the Rose children, including celebrating special childhood holiday traditions. When a visit to a mall Santa goes a little sideways, a kind boy and some Christmas magic prove that even if it takes a few decades for it to happen, David can have everything he has always wanted.
