Ballad of songbirds and snakes was SO GOOD!! I want to see it again, it adds so much fun context to a bunch of other hunger games scenes, it’s such a well-rounded series and I thought this would kind of run it into the ground but it’s somehow even more well-rounded now I’m obsessed

I want to give my opinion on this whole hunter schafer transmedicalist thing as a non-binary person.

What transmedicalist are trying to do is basically respectability politics. In case you don't know, respectability politics is basically when you try to be the prefect person from whatever marginalized group you're from in order to be liked and respect by conservatives and just the general public. For example, you could be the perfect poor person ie you budget everything, spend no money on luxury items, never go out to eat or go out to have fun and basically do what rich people tell poor people as "advice". It's a lot more complicated than that but that's the basics.

With transmedicalist, they try to be the prefect trans person. They'll have a stereotypically trans journey you'll see in Hollywood and TV where they knew from a young age they were trans, they hated themselves growing up and had gender dysphoria, took the steps to get surgery and hrt and put in a lot of effort into passing as a cis woman/man. Hell, they might also bash other trans people so they could could come off as better (Blair White).But at the end of the day, even if you were the "perfect trans person", conservatives won't give a fuck.

You might be safe for a bit while they go after the more radical people and vocal people but once they're done with those people, they'll come after you. They still hate us and dehumanize us and will take our rights away.

At the end of the day, respectability politics isn't going to work and it's a waste of time and energy. Time and energy that could be put into protest, fundraisers and helping uplift our most vulnerable members in our community. Hunter Schafer and other transmedicalist need to realize that gatekeeping the trans community and just being trans in general isn't helping anyone. It's actually harming a lot of people both binary trans people and non-binary trans people.
