“Neue” Drachenfelsbahn Königswinter

Die Drachenfelsbahn existiert seit 1883. Früher noch unter Dampf (siehe ebenfalls Bilder hier im Blog) wird sie heute mit Strom betrieben. Der Drachenfels ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel im Siebengebirge mit Sehenswürdigkeiten die Burgruine Drachenfels, Schloss Drachenburg (erreichbar über die Mittelstation), die Nibelungenhalle (selbstverständlich mit Drachen im Garten) und natürlich die Zahnradbahn. 

"New" Drachenfelsbahn Königswinter

The Drachenfelsbahn has been in existence since 1883 and used to run on steam (see also pictures here in the blog), but is now powered by electricity. The Drachenfels is a popular destination in the Siebengebirge with sights such as the Drachenfels castle ruins, Drachenburg Castle (accessible via the middle station), the Nibelungen Hall (including dragon in the garden) and of course the cogwheel railway.

Time for me to wax poetically over architecture! So Anor Londo, beautiful, beautiful Anor Londo

One of the main and most glaring obvious point is that it feels "new" not necessarily in the "not decrepit and abandoned way" but rather in the "this is much more modern than the rest" kind of way. It tries really really hard to scream gothic! Expecially with all those flying buttresses. Although technically you can see clear influences from places like the Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Drachenburg which are both from the 19th Century and thus NeoGothic.

But it doesn't really matter that much if it is gothic or neogothic since the Undead Burg and Parish is romanic more that anything and Firelink Shrine has all the hallmarks of either a byzantine basilica or a Roman repurposed one (I'd either go as far as to speculate that the Firelink Shrine zone where Framp appears after you ring both bells of Awakening is in fact a ninfeo but that's matter for another post).

Another matter are the walls that circle around all the areas, they are a proper barbican, like those you can see in Krakow. Usually these are more modern that Gothic Proper ranging from the 15th century to the 16th century but just as much as we can see that Anor Londo is meant to be gothic and not NeoGothic we can imagine that the Barbican is meant to be """medieval"""

What matters is that we can clearly see an in-game timeline progression with Firelink Shrine being the oldest, Undead Burg and the Old Parish (where you find Andre) next, then the Undead Parish proper and lastly Anor Londo.

I should really go back and explore it better either when I get the Lord Vessel and fast travel or in a NG+ when I'm no longer absolutely lost
