Ideas for a lil zine/comic/whatever for school's Autism Awareness April project (get every class to do something):

Focus on stating how people in the spectrum are diverse (im thinking on putting high empathy x low empathy, hyposensitibity x hypersensotivity + fat autistics, blac autistics, autistic woman, queer autistics, autistics with adhd, physically didabled autistics, a bunch of drawings to represent this second part)

In honor of the Ides of March, I would like to describe the time last year in English class, when a few of my classmates had to act out the Caesar assassination scene in Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar”:

-our teacher tried to supply them with costumes, but he couldn’t find any ancient Roman clothes in his classroom, and the closest he could find were Batman and Robin costumes, and bright blue and red tablecloths for the people to wear.

-he couldn’t find anything to use as knives either, so all the conspirators had to stab Caesar with rulers

-At this point, everyone who volunteered was now standing in front of the class wearing either a superhero costume or a giant table cloth draped around them, carrying a ruler in one hand and a script in the other

-the whole time when everyone is reading their lines from the paper, our teacher was loudly and meticulously shouting stage orders of how they should read each of their lines, disrupting the flow of the scene in the process

-the kid who volunteered to be Caesar didn’t want to kneel before another character when he was instructed to, he didn’t want to “appear weak” because it was “embarrassing” (he only volunteered to be Caesar because he didn’t know the plot of the play, and just saw that he was the titular character. He literally did not know that this was going to happen.)

-when the stabbing happened, the people acting as the conspirators underestimated how hard you can hit someone with a ruler before it starts to hurt, so they all slapped Caesar with rulers really hard, and at one point, I heard some genuine shouts of pain from that poor guy.

-guy playing Caesar didn’t know how to pronounce “Et tu, Brute?” So when the teacher instructed him “ok this is the most famous line, say it with power!” The kid stared at the script and disgruntledly mumbled “Eat two, Broot.”

-the teacher had to repeatedly tell him to fall over for the death scene, and when the kid finally listened, he just kind of toppled over like a sad bowling pin.

it was the funniest thing I had ever seen, and the best interpretation of Caesar’s death scene I had ever witnessed.

11:33pm. an open document with an essay due at 11:59pm. the essay is not done. it is now 11:34pm. i have twelve pages written. 11:35pm. the essay is still not done. i get a mini cheesecake and make a new cup of tea. it is now 11:44pm. the cheesecake tastes good.

so for one of my classes this semester we have to build websites and the application we're meant to use is wix, which is an israeli owned company that has been used to spread anti-palestinian and islamophobic propaganda, particularly that fake hamas website that was going around last year.

i'd like to find alternative website builders for my classmates and i to use. if anyone has any recommendations please let me know!

So, im in my schools bookclub and each month we have a book to read and then we discuss it. So, this month's book was Enola Holmes, right? Ive seen the movie, and im mildly interested in it. Anyways, the principal is also on the bookclub! Shes pretty enthusiastic about it. Today she sent a message in the bookclub groupchat asking how we were doing regarding the book? And i said i wasnt that far, and added that despiste being the weekend i wouldn't have much time for it since im busy: art trade event (ive gotta prepare the oc ref sheets for whoever picks petrichor), my sister's birthday, excessive homework, a crafts work from school as well, the other book which we'll be working with in the actual classes, AND avoiding to fall into boredom and utter annoyance by drawing and finally watching Helluva Boss which im eager to see.

Then she answered: "reading is meant to be an enjoyable thing and im sure yall will manahe to fit it in your schedule"

Like. I know you dont get all of the sayings in what the teachers do but honestly if i wasnt being shoved homework by YOUR school id have more free time to read it. Yknow

01.16.2024 classes:

horror illustration class went great!! knew the professor already and had friends there :) was worried one of them wasn’t going to be friendly bc we hadn’t talked at all over break but he dmed me to giggle abt a joke during class. homework due thursday is a presentation & mood board for a book cover illustration. planning on doing silence of the lambs ^_^

advanced fiction was really nice too. met someone who’s also in the next period so we walked to the library together. professor is extremely nice and talks with a clear southern accent kinda like the guy from knives out. first assignment is due in a week: one page fiction taking place in a gas station bathroom with a theme & using a metaphor comparison. i’m gonna do my oc vinny :) also two readings for thursday as well

hate that creative nonfiction is online but as it goes i suppose. this professor was great as well!! not as great as advanced fiction but i’m still very excited for this class. homework is some readings (?) by thursday but i gotta check in detail
