"You're nothing at all of what I thought an alien would look like," Human says.
"What did you think I was going to look like?" Alien asks.
"I don't know. Multiple arms or heads. Maybe three eyes. Huge heads. Green skin," Human mumbles. "But you look like a human. Like me."
"You are very stereotypical. And—" Alien states.
"Sorry," Human winches.
"—saying we look like your species is an insult. The major difference between our two species is that mine is much more advanced than yours. I mean, you guys are still traveling to space in tin cans."
"I was wrong about what I thought you looked like, but I'm spot on about your personality," Human says.
"Intelligent and honest?" Alien assumes, grinning.
"A stuck-up, know it all who thinks their better than everyone else," Human corrects, wiping the smrik right off Alien's face.

"As someone who can change their face into something more attractive anytime they want," the shapeshifter said, "I know true beauty when I see it." They kissed their lover gently. "And you, my Love, are beautiful."
"We should commit crimes," the human joked, leaning into the shapeshifter's shoulder. "We'd be good at it, I bet."
"You know I prefer your face over anyone else's," the human said. "Don't change it."
"Does it ever hurt?" the human asked gently, thumb idly running along the length of shapeshifter's arm. "Sometimes," shapeshifter shrugged, "but it doesn't last long. Just while it's happening."
"Be honest," the human said, "have you ever interacted with me without me knowing?"
"Would you like to get back at [other character]?" the shapeshifter asked, a mischievous look in their eyes that human knew all too well. "What do you have in mind?" the human responded, propping their elbows up on the counter to look at shapeshifter more closely. "You, my love," shapeshifter smiled, "are about to go on a date with [other character]'s celebrity crush."
"Do you think I'd look good with blonde hair?" the human asked, staring at themself in the mirror. Shapeshifter transformed into an exact image of human, only their hair was blonde rather than their usual brown. "You tell me," the shapeshifter responded, striking a silly pose.

Humans really are space orcs bc we got SOULS >:3
I dove down the rabbit hole called Reddit and I decided to join a couple alien forums for some inspiration.
I saw some stuff that I’m definitely going to touch on later- but there’s this theory that aliens (again in a future post I’ll be more specific) are studying and dissecting and working on humans and it’s thought that a certain species is interested in us because we have souls..
It never occurred to me that aliens might not have a soul. I always believed that every single living thing in the universe had one.
Perhaps it’s not that we have a soul but maybe it’s that our soul can do something that theirs cannot-.
With that in mind! Imagine being on a space ship and only a couple of the species on it have souls and for this reason it’s considered an incredibly rare and incredibly mysterious trait! The amount of questions you’d get lol. What if the soul is seen as scary? Or a god like trait, or what if it’s seen as a weakness?
I really wanna see what you guys can add onto this!!
In a ship where having a soul is a mysterious feature and trait with a lot of rumors as a result.

Writing Prompt #20
"Why did you salvage me?" the robot asked. Their objective was impossible, and they had become obsolete. There was no reason to keep the robot around. "I'm faulty."
The human grimaced and revealed a missing limb. "I know a bit about what it's like to be thrown away on someone else's whim. Doesn't mean we can't keep living. Doesn't mean we're faulty."

A scurried backwards, away from the beast, throwing anything within reach to slow it down. Nothing worked; it slowly approached them, not bothered in the slightest, until A hit a wall behind them.
“I-Stay-!” A grabbed a rock, standing bravely on shaky legs to face the creature that was so, so much larger than them. “STAY AWAY FROM ME!”
The monster groans, completely still. Then, it shifts, and A sees it.
A badge. A tattoo. An old memento. Whatever it is, it used to belong to them.
In shock, A’s arm lowers, almost falling slack. “…. B?” they ask quietly. “…. B, is that…. You?”

Okay, so here's my take on the zombie myth. Cursed corpses with an appetite for human flesh? No, no.
You may be familiar with chronic wasting disease that affects deer -- commonly known as zombie deer disease. It's an illness that eats away at the brain, and it's 100% fatal. It causes the body to slowly shut down, symptoms manifesting as:
Loss of motor control
Confusion
Excessive salivation
Excessive urination
Extreme weight loss
So far, there have been no cases reported in humans, but WHAT IF the disease mutates to the point? There is no known cure, and the dead still have the potential to carry the infection, and one thing after another, eventually leading to a full-blown "apocalypse." And the real tragedy of these "zombies" is how the infected lose their entire sense of self and humanity.

Queer Prompt of the Day:
The situation is dire. The whole damn universe is on the edge of collapse and Character X can't even ask her best friend out on a date. If only she wasn't so busy fighting monsters, maybe she'd give it a shot. Or maybe she wouldn't, because she's got a long history of cowardice and no idea how she'd go on a date with the most popular girl in this side of the galaxy anyway.

"Are you sure you want to go to this planet?" The higher life form asks, pointing at earth.
A smile forms on the little alien's mouth. They nod their head quickly. "Oh yes. Just look down there. I saw a human cause an explosion in their classroom by just two simple chemicals. I must know what else these creatures are capable of."

"I love you more than all the stars in the sky." "Oh, that's so sappy."
"You're hotter than the Betelgeuse red supergiant." "Okay, that's enough."
He quickly pulled her into a tight alleyway, pressing a gentle hand to her lips. He brought a finger to his own, signaling her to be quiet as his chest heaved up and down. A group of cyborgs rolled past them, oblivious to their presence.
"Do you ever wonder if there's other life out there?" "Shut up, you idiot. We are literally on an alien planet. Right now." "Do you think they're also staring at the stars wondering the same thing?"
"On the count of three, we're going to run like hell." Before he knew what he was doing, he was planting a kiss on their lips. They stared at him, stunned. "For good luck," he murmured.
They held up a blue rock. "Looks like your eyes," they told her.
"Do you think we'll ever get tired of stargazing?" "We're under a different sky every time," he answered. "And I'll never get tired of it as long as you're next to me."
She stood over two cyborgs that she had just pummeled into the Earth. They twitched, their robotic limbs intertwining with one another's. "Aw, look," she pointed at them. "That's us."

Hey I just had a thought about time travel: what if you somehow ended up traveling back in time, with no way of ever returning to the present, but you didn’t know if your actions would impact/change the time you came from. I feel like time travel narratives are always about getting used to how different the world is, but what about the fear of destroying the world you left behind? Even if you can never return to them, would you risk the people you love never being born? Could you accept being inconsequential, to the point you have no impact on those around you, even it that impact is loving them, or making them happy? The worst part is that even if you tried to change nothing, you would never know if you succeeded. There would always be a chance that one misstep destroys everything, and you would never know if that misstep had already happened, or inevitably would.
I just think it’s a unique kind of horror, in world where we often fear we’re unimportant, to fear the consequences of your own existence

Writing Prompt #16
With the rise of technology and brain implants, companies have monetized the brain and human connection itself. Monthly fees to stay “connected” to the people around you are common, and like ads, you can even pay to “interact” with others and have them think of you. “Staying in someone’s head rent free” is now only possible via criminally hacking into the technology itself. You, unable to pay the fees anymore and unwilling to use a “pay back later” scam, decide to unsubscribe, essentially living in isolation.
