Why Grillby is "short" in Snowdin and Fuku is "taller"
So, one would think being colder (denser air) and more oxygen would mean a taller flame. But Grillby looks like this:
Tumblr media
His glasses are awfully low, and his head is all squished when the top flame wooshes aside.
And fuku like this:
Tumblr media
Her eyes are higher up. But hotland is, well, hotter and less dense. This is how pressure effects fire:
Tumblr media
But wait, Snowdin is higher than Hotland! We fall into the dump, and the river flows downhill.
Ebott, according to this guy, is 16,734 ft. Assuming, of course, the humans didn't climb to the summit, minus the fall and Toriel's basement, I'm going to go with, let's say 12,000 ft. Partially pulled out of my ass. (Human vertical limit is like 18k, in case anyone was concerned about the humans.)
Assuming Snowdin is 15-30F...

62,657 Pa is of course, 62.6 kPa. Looking at the chart referenced before, it makes Grillby's head make more sense.
So all those varying Grillby heads on merch? Very possible!

the tightness of tights/stockings/socks matters quite a lot, it seems. the tickliness seemed to reduce, and part of that was probably desensitization, but when pulled taut it was shockingly ticklish again
investigations into denier amounts will be ongoing :3c

i had an interesting thought and i would like to put it to a (very rough) little test!
*cold/flu season: the time of year when a lot of people in your area come down with the cold or flu
*"early-mid fall", for the purposes of this post, is the time when the weather and nature usually should start shifting in a wintery direction. so right around now. unless you're in the southern hemisphere. mostly i'm curious about whether seasonal allergies play a role at all in this, so you could also judge based off of that.

Step aside, fish
Here's a new contender for "taxonomy is utterly baffling": TREES.
(Aside--at least soil & rock "taxonomy" makes no claims to relatedness of groups...)

early this morning, Ro started singing 'She Blinded Me With Science.' I helpfully supplied the 'bwee bloo bwoop's. we kinda scared T-the-mushroom-child away. uhhh sorry. but consider: it's a great song.

describe for us what it feels like to be attacked by tickles with no warning and how that compares to knowing its coming :) don't skimp on the details, this is for science!
WELL I SUPPOSE IF ITS FOR SCIENCE
um, let's see..... when i get attacced it can add this delicious shock through my system during the first moment that makes me jump/flinch and im pretty sure increases my sensitivity some for a bit bc of that unpredictability. and feeling my muscles move on reflex makes me feel more helpless bc i can't even control my own body and that increases things too >///<
that shock when i've been attacked feels like a sort of wave passing through my entire body, making my skin feel sensitive and leaving a wave of goosebumps as it passes. it feels like a shivery pleasure over the surface of my skin
its a lot all at once. i'll have to pay extra attention next time im caught by surprise just to make sure!!!
when i know it's coming it depends on how much i expect it to tickle vs just feel like normal movement on my skin. the second makes me disappointed even in advance but is thankfully getting less common over time >///>
when i do expect it to tickle, tho, it feels like the patch of skin that's being threatened gets more sensitive and hard to ignore and starts to feel like its Almost being touched, and sometimes starts to tingle with imagined touches. it makes me/my body want to squirm, tho it doesn't usually make me do so on reflex. the emotional cocktail tends to be mixed fear, hope, and anticipation in general, and it gradually dials up the more certainty i have that i'll get tickled at some point despite the uncertainty of not knowing when exactly
the best/most ticklish tickles prolly end up being some combination of these - poking unpredictably seems to work well on most people, for instance, i think bc of the mixture of being tickled and knowing it will continue but not knowing where or when the next poke will happen? or the thing with being threatening and then pouncing unpredictably and then going back to being threatening for a bit, which is directly combining expectation with surprise
