You may be wondering what scientific facts truly prove the connection between coping with mental illness and comfort objects like a teddy bear. Australian Psychologist Lorraine Aldridge discussed the connection between psychology and stuffed animals on her website where she mentions the “lifting of their self-esteem and boosting of their sense of worth.” She also mentions the connection between comfort objects and good-feeling hormones such as oxytocin and serotonin. Lorraine Aldridge states “When present in certain part[s] of the brain, oxytocin decreases stress and anxiety levels.” on the connection to stress. In an article titled “The Real-Life Science of Stuffed Animals, Children, and Stress Reduction” the author elaborated on the previous quote stating “serotonin contributes to feelings of well-being and happiness by stabilizing mood.”
In another article about what makes a teddy bear comforting authors stated “Our study revealed that the emotional bond shared with a teddy bear is a predominant factor.” (Tribot et al., 1). However, the authors also went on to discuss other key characteristics with respect to the bond, “...we identified characteristics that play a significant role in the perception of comfort, which lies in a combination of visual, olfactory, and especially kinesthetic characteristics.” This shows the true bond children share with their teddy bears or other comfort objects with the science that lies behind them.
A lot of older TMNT fans dislike the ROTTMNT designs for making the brothers barely look like turtles but actually I enjoy them looking mostly humanoid
They resemble the person they were mutated with a lot, they look like new species entirely and they went into drastically different direction with sharp, pointy dynamic lines, rather than huge round blobified shapes the other series were going for
Plus the designs and thought process behind each of them are amazing
Like, I could rant about Donnie's design quirks for ages

AFRICAN PENGUINS IDENTIFY PATNERS BY THEIR CHEST DOTS
Birds are known to be highly social and visual animals, and penguins are not the exception, as they live in dense colonies. Yet no specific visual feature has been identified to be responsible for individual recognition in birds. Now, researchers demonstrate that african penguins (Spheniscus demersus) can recognize their each others using their ventral dot patterns.
Researchers placed a experiment at the Zoomarine Marine Park, in Rome, Italy, to test how penguins will react to a model with plain with no dot penguin, and to penguins with dots, to find out penguins actually could visually recognize the dots of their lovers and friends in the zoo.
Penguins rely strongly on their ventral dot patterns for individual recognition, and may have holistic representations of other penguins in the colony. In this video below, an african penguin named Gerry appears to recognize his mate, Fiorella (left), in an individual recognition experiment.
These findings suggest that african penguins may rely on a more holistic visual representation of their partner, which includes both the ventral dot patterns and their partner's facial features. Notably, these abilities are not dependent on the ability of a pair to produce offspring together. Nemo and Chicco, male partners, showed the same preference for each other as other penguin partner pairs, suggesting that the ability to distinguish the partner from others is driven simply by the special bond developed between nesting partners.

A little gory/exaggerated but I actually like this a lot :D
I like the idea of the freeze being REALLY rough on the sole survivor, and there’s physical trauma involved that they have to deal with past the mental trauma of waking up 200 years in the future.
Damien gets pretty bad barotrauma from being frozen for 150 years, wakes up to see Shaun get taken, then freezes again pretty much immediately afterwards. It’s not like he could fully thaw in those 2 minutes it took Kellogg to open Nora’s door. So now Damien is deaf in his left ear, and he has trouble keeping his hands warm :)
Honestly what makes Stein a good execution of the mentally unwell mad scientist trope is that unlike your Rick Sanchez types who would scoff and debunk a cheerful character's optimistic worldview as cringe and naive he actually enjoys their presence and values that quality in other people
like he's realistic and acts as a voice of reason but doesnt revel in dashing anyone's hopes and dreams (unless it's spirit but that's just what they do to each other, and even then it's mostly taking the piss and not too serious)
In theory, Annabeth Chase is the responsible, mostly level-headed, no-nonsense member of the Seven.
In practice, Annabeth Chase is a math-obsessed ADHD girl that's been training to fight for her life since she was seven, has fought in two (2) wars by the time she turns seventeen, and is simply Too Tired™ to care about consequences of her impulsive thoughts, if she ever did.
What I'm saying is she pitches the dumbest hypotheticals to Leo and then they hole themselves up with limited food and sleep to try the idea out, no matter how stupid. Their cabins often join, sometimes others as well. It's a bit like MythBusters but with less regard for human life and even more explosions. Chiron and Mr D know Something Is Up if they haven't seen either of the two in too long.
Making a magic system is so great. Yeah I give those mfs powers based on magic stones and then I limit them with deadly consequences. Yeah it’s all in my head. I know the rules by heart and you will learn them together with my protagonist.
Just mwah.
