i love steel types! this is the third steel type i've drawn for this challenge, and it won't be the last, lol. and scizor is one of the coolest steel types out there. i think she turned out looking like some sort of superhero, which is exactly what i imagined!

Drew some superhero-themed Pokemon gijinkas! This was a fun character design exercise which I might do more of.

[ID: A digital drawing of human versions of the Pokemon Volcarona and Scizor.

The Volcarona gijinka is a curvy person with dark skin wearing a powder-blue suit, a black domino mask with orange horn-like decorations resembling Volcarona's horns, an orange cape with black dots on it and a fur collar resembling Volcarona's wings, black gloves, and black dress shoes. They are holding a long black cane with a Fire Gem on it in one hand and their other hand is on their hip.

The Scizor gijinka is slender and clad entirely in a robotic exoskeleton. The suit has a large red chestplate and hip plates, black limbs, and red gloves and boots with yellow accents. Their right arm has an arm cannon from the elbow down, which has a casing resembling Scizor's claws. The helmet is red with a silver mouthplate and the front of the helmet has three spikes around the edge resembling Scizor's head spikes. They have a white scarf around their neck. End ID.]

So, for the drawtober before the pokemon spam, I did my OC’s with their favorite pokemon. And in an oufit that’s based off that pokemon. Kinda gijinka like. (Note, favorite pokemon and not the pokemon I think is the most like them, because that is not always the same one.)

It didn’t make much traction, and probably still won’t as my characters are unknown. More than that... A lot of them weren’t good. As you can tell from this... I culled most of that month. In any case, for those who’re here:

Tion with Mimikyu! (The need to make friends while being way to freaky to do so is a huge bonding point here.) Nath with Arcanine! (Firey, speedy, stripes like hers, and also something to cuddle with? Yeah, that was an easy pick for her.) Clark with Absol! (This is a complicated one. I guess it boils down to understanding trying to tell people something and being hated for it and/or them not listening.) Hishuom with Ditto! (This probably looks like one of the few cases of “the pokemon that is the most like them is also their favorite” and it’s technically right. Given Hishuom’s ability to use his fur and scales to bend light around him and look like almost any other humanoid he chooses. Yes, very mystique esque. But honestly, he really just likes how pink and squishy Ditto is and the transforming thing isn’t a factor in his choice at all, lol.) And finally, Haruthin with Scizor! (This one absolutely is a case of “This pokemon is a lot like me and I love them because of it” for my bug dude. No shame.)

ethan / male / mild / meganium ; obtained at level 26 on route 123, and boxed at level 36, ethan is a lofty prince who temporarily accompanied the team on their journey while seeking a similar destination in the form of mossdeep city. he left as quickly as he had arrived, but he proved to be of assistance while he was with them.

sydney / female / quiet / kingdra ; obtained at level 18 in meteor falls and dying at level 27, sydney was a young girl who viewed herself as more of a princess than she had any right to. while strong, she lacked proper caution and was too hotheaded, with resulted in her not being able to properly pick and choose her battles.

bernadetta / female / rash / banette ; obtained at level 35 on route 111 and dying at level 41 against wally in the victory road, bernadetta, more commonly known as bernie, was the spotlight of the team when she was on it. she was happy so long as she was being given attention, mostly by pretty girls, and had somewhat of a competition with toto to see who could rope in more. while a bit braggadocios, she was supportive and caring; she was the best friend of toto, the older sister chrome never had, and later the girlfriend of nicolette.

naga / male / serious / noctowl ; obtained at level 6 in petalburg city and dying at level 35, naga was a quiet and mysterious individual who rarely communicated with his fellow team members. his somewhat mystical behavior caught the attention of toto, who felt he was some spirit or god who knew all. this developed into an odd relationship where toto thought nearly anything he did was some sort of prophecy, and almost all his words were taken as fact. in the end, he never found out if it was simply a joke or if toto really believed what he said.

keaton / male / naive / hitmonchan ; obtained at level 14 on route 113 and dying at level 23, keaton was as much of a brash knucklehead as toto could sometimes be. he was his training partner and the two of them frequently practiced together, and upon his death toto was the one who was the most impacted long-term.

chrome / male / lonely / aron ; obtained at level 24 on route 118 and dying at level 27, chrome was a completely silent child whose reclusive and eerie behavior became subject to speculation and sometimes fear by the rest of the team. his origins were a mystery, although his pickaxe that he lugged around served as evidence he may have lived in a mine. bernie was one of the only team members at the time who didn’t seem put off by him, and her kindness lead to him becoming inseparably attached. his determination to prove himself as strong is what led to his untimely death.

setsuko / female / lax / scizor ; obtained at level 16 in mossdeep city and disappearing at level 42, setsuko was the former leader of a biker gang who joined the team in the hopes of setting off on a new adventure that would add thrill to her life, a thing she continuously sought for. she carried her gang’s motto of “being kind is cool!” to the team, and was often a source of optimism and high spirits while toto was feeling beside himself over the recent loss of bernadetta. she would often lament over her lack of a love life, something she craved, and although her complaints came off as funny she did truly, at times, wonder what her so unsuccessful in finding someone. one evening she disappeared completely; she left her ribbon behind, and it was later when her friend royce joined the team that they learned this behavior was in no way uncommon for her.

a revamp of... one of my first gijinkas.... he’s SO old but i’m only just now having fun with him and it’s kind of surreal

he’s another superhero, but I haven’t decided a codename for him yet! His superpower comes from being infected with the same alien metal that Harris (Hyperion) was, and which Lena (Galva) and Tobi (Bastion) inherited. suspicious that there’s an actual alien acting as a supervillain in the same region now. HMMM.
