While we had a blast riding the XT250, DR200S and CRF250L Rally during our recent expedition to California's Sequoia National Forest/Kings Canyon Area, the thin, flat dirtbike seats on these dual sport bikes are not great for long-distance riding. Mind on the road, heart in California. At least it used to be. Now it feels like my mind and heart are both on the road. I feel like I’ve been pretty open about my experiences on the road, but I’ll open up a bit more about how it feels to be “home”. Upon visiting California, my sense of belonging has been distorted. What everyone sees is me on the road, having the time of my life, visiting all these amazing places, and while that’s is true and I am living my life dream, I am also experiencing the juxtaposition of separation and multiple ties of friendship severing. From my end, what I feel like were once intensely close friendships have now withered away as if a string that is on its last strands of thread. I described this to my friend as if a baker rolled out the middle of the dough too thin and is hanging by its last composition and still getting smaller and smaller. This stark realization is incredibly sad, but I accepted this transition many months ago when I realized there were only a handful of friends that actually reached out or returned my calls and I was the one doing the majority of reaching out. For context, this is coming from someone who used to be able to call 30 people my close friends just to give you an idea. Without close physical proximity, many of these friendships will no longer exist. And I’ve accepted this. This is the price I had to pay to achieve what I wanted to get out of this lifetime. But that doesn’t make it any less painful. Not all is sad and bleak. I didn’t really tell people I was coming home, but when they found out, many were extremely excited to see me. This of course felt very odd to me. How could I be treated as if I didn’t exist for 10 months, and then this excitement to reunite occur at the same time? Out of sight, out of mind. Just my thoughts and feelings. I have no positive or negative energy here, the situation - just is. This is your sign. I implore you to reach out to your loved ones you haven’t talked to in a while. I’ve had many motorcycle helmets over the years and I’m always looking to get an even better helmet, especially a helmet that is lightweight. So after doing some Googling, I found a brand new motorcycle helmet for 2020 that Scorpion has come out with called the EXO-R1 Air helmet that promises to have just about everything you need in a motorcycle helmet that can not only be amazing at the track but just as amazing on the street. It’s one of the lightest helmets I’ve ever worn. This helmet is actually used by a MotoGP rider and now you can get one.
