Zakochałem się w Szkocji. Wrzucam ją w top 4 na mojej liście miejsc w których byłem! Zjechaliśmy trochę Isle od Skye i Glencoe - stąd są te zdjęcia. W ogóle foty są z #sonya7c i 35mm. Świetny jest ten aparat, wchodzi do kieszeni, obrazek piękny, same plusy, tylko wizjer mały więc chyba pierwszy raz zrobiłem wszystkie zdjęcia patrząc w ekran. Nie wciskając tutaj nikomu kitu reklamowego to na prawdę zauroczyłem się tym małym aparatem. Nawet przy tym wyjeździe zrobiłem nim kilka komercyjnych zdjęć i myślę, że w paru innych przypadkach gdzie nie potrzebuję milionów pixeli dałbym radę robić nim zlecenia a przede wszystkim mieć dobry „kieszonkowy” aparat. Stalker del castello, Loch Laich. Si crede che Castle Stalker – in gaelico Stalcaire, che significa cacciatore o falconiere – fosse originariamente il sito di un Fortalice (un piccolo edificio fortificato) appartenente ai MacDougall quando erano signori di Lorn, e costruito intorno al 1320. I MacDougalls persero il loro titolo dopo la loro sconfitta da parte di re Bruce a Brander Pass nel 1308, ma lo riconquistò per un periodo dopo il 1328. Intorno al 1388 la Signoria di Lorn passò agli Stewart, le terre tra cui Castle Stalker. Intorno al 1620 il castello passò nelle mani dei Campbell di Airds a seguito di una scommessa da ubriaco del settimo capo Stewart, Duncan, in cambio di un wherry a otto remi. Gli Stewart di Appin, sotto Stewart di Ardsheal, riconquistarono il castello nel 1689 quando uscirono con re Giacomo VII (altrimenti Giacomo II) contro re Guglielmo, ma dopo la sconfitta nella battaglia di Dunkeld il castello fu nuovamente incamerato dai Campbell. Gli Stewart sotto Ardsheal si rifiutarono di consegnarlo quando fu poi assediato dai Campbell per diversi mesi fino a quando Ardsheal non ottenne una resa onorevole nel 1690. Al tempo del 1745 Rising Castle Stalker era tenuto dai Campbell con una guarnigione di circa 59 truppe governative. Dopo la battaglia di Culloden nel 1746 il castello fu utilizzato dalle forze governative come centro locale dove i membri del clan dovevano cedere le armi. Thistle Chapel, St Giles‘ Cathedral, Royal Mile, Edinburgh.

King David I founded St Giles’ in 1124, during which time the bond between Rome and the Scottish church was becoming closer. St Giles’ was built on the very eastern edge of Edinburgh and pre-dates most of the Old Town. When David I later founded the Abbey of Holyrood he gave the abbot permission to build houses up the ridge towards St Giles’, establishing the Canongate burgh and forming what is now known as the Royal Mile.

The Order of the Thistle has roots in the Middle Ages, but the present-day order was largely created in 1687 by King James VII of Scotland (King James II of England). The nave of Holyrood Abbey was adapted as its chapel, but in 1688 the Abbey was ransacked by the Edinburgh mob, furious at King James’ Roman Catholic allegiance. After that, the Knights of the Thistle had no chapel of their own for over 200 years.

The Thistle Chapel was designed by Robert Lorimer and finished in 1911. It contains stalls for the 16 knights, the Sovereign’s stall and two Royal stalls. The chapel contains a wealth of detail, both religious and heraldic, and much of it peculiarly Scottish, including angels playing bagpipes.

Melrose Abbey, Scottish Borders. .

David I founded Scotland’s first Cistercian monastery in 1136. Being so close to the border, Melrose Abbey suffered at English hands during the Middle Ages. Melrose’s location put it on the front line of conflict with England during the later Middle Ages.

Melrose was attacked by Edward I (1300 and 1307) and Edward II (1322) required major repairs. Also Richard II’s attacked Melrose in 1385 led to a complete rebuilding of the abbey church.

The Abbey suffered from the Protestant Reformation in 1560. Afterwards, the existing monks were allowed to stay on: the last died in 1590.

Mary Queen of Scots House, Jedburgh, Scottish Borders.

This beautiful tower house was built in the 16th century. It is said that Mary, Queen of Scots lived in this house in 1566 for a short time after she returned from France.

Today it is a very interesting museum about the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. Really worth to visit, not only for Mary fans.

The River Coe. Glencoe. The Three Sisters. The MacDonalds held the glen until conflict broke out between the MacDonalds and the Campbells of Argyll. There was fault on both sides; the MacDonalds stole Campbell cattle, and the Campbells kept trying to annex MacDonald territory. The conflict carried on into the 17th century, when the clans found themselves on opposite sides of the Wars of the Covenant. The Campbells supported the government, while the MacDonalds allied with the Royalist cause. To put it in simple terms, the MacDonalds represented the traditional Highland way of life, while the Campbells represented Scottish ties to England and government control. The centuries-long conflict came to head in one of the most infamous episodes in Scottish history. The Massacre of Glencoe took place in Glen Coe on 13 February 1692. An estimated 30 members and associates of Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by Scottish government forces, allegedly for failing to pledge allegiance to the new monarchs, William III and Mary II. These government soldiers had enjoyed hospitality from the MaDonalds, before receiving the order to slay them when many were sleeping. According to Highland code, a clansman should give shelter to anyone, even to his sworn enemy. Nowadays this iconic landscape is a must for visitors. @lochlevenseafoodcafe is nearby and unmissable.
