For those we love
I've been in a headspace thinking about the past a bit lately, so this is a rather short somewhat sad piece if Scott & Kayo were a couple at the time when America joined WWII.

UNREQUITED Ch 7.5
Co-written with @janetm74
Ch 7 | Ch 8 | AO3
A piece, concurrent with the ending of Ch 7 (Page Six). A glimpse into Scott's reaction and overall state of mind (aka the lies his heartbreak is telling him). Virgil is being a very supportive brother, but he's out of his depth quite a bit.
(interlude)
*interlude*
Virgil startled, as he didn't expect his brother to speak. Not since he picked him up off the floor of Dad's study, hyperventilating, amidst the shards of the broken whiskey glass and the shattered picture frame of Scott's AirForce graduation photo Dad kept on his desk.
Not since they holed up in one of the Round House guest rooms, while the short notice preparations of the impromptu "wedding party" were afoot.
Virgil quietly debated with John to maybe ask to call it off, but it was Penelope's request. And Gordon was so excited. They wondered if that was also Lady P's sneaky way to arrange a getaway for her friend Kayo and Rigby in a beautiful, romantic setting. That would have been a move right up her alley.
None of that certainly helped improve Scott's mood or made him more forthcoming. Big brother was just not all there since the news announcement and the breakdown in the study.
Virgil wondered if Scott even noticed his brother was an ever present shadow at his side those past two days. Apparently he did.
They saw FAB 1 land on the island, earlier than expected, from the vantage point of the mountain terrace.
Then John's message came through - that the "wedding" was an elaborate GDF undercover op. Scott reacted to that in a way Virgil didn't anticipate - with a laugh that chilled him to the bone. A laugh of a madman.
Virgil was still unsure what to say, once his brother calmed down, but Scott spoke first.
"I can't do this anymore."
Virgil's chest tightened. Virgil shifted to press himself closer to Scott's shoulder and provide support. Whatever his brother needed at the moment. Scott's voice was hoarse.
"I can't feel like this anymore. I can't! I want to stop!"
"Scotty, you're scaring me."
Virgil didn't intend to sound so small and unsure, but the raw pain Scott let him see up close, left the little brother in him rattled. Virgil leaned his chin on Scott's shoulder, an extra anchoring point in the storm.
"I can't feel like I couldn't ever be happy. I want to stop! All of it. Just stop!"
Virgil's vision swam. There was a determination behind the anguish in his brother's voice that got him so scared all the way back in the Arctic blizzard. That was a step before Scott setting a self-destruction course.
Virgil tried again with the softest inflection, usually reserved to shocked rescuees:
"Scotty, it's okay. You deserve all the happiness you ever wish for, I promise!"
It didn't have an intended effect, as big brother snorted bitterly.
"That's just it, Virgie - I DON'T! She was right."
Virgil's educated guess as to the "she" was immediately confirmed.
"She was right. I was Dad's charity case. He probably saw right away I wasn't cut out for GDF, so planned to pull me out anyway. That was even before... That Place."
Virgil shuddered. Any mention of the hell in Bereznik those months were for Scott (and for them all) was a minefield of its own. But Scott wasn't done.
"And after... Dad didn't even trust me to go on Zero-X with him. Didn't trust me to save him! She was right - I'm a waste of AirForce training and Dad's hopes!"
Scott was sobbing more than talking coherently at that point, so Virgil concentrated on clutching him for dear life, as if scared the brother would fracture into pieces if he let go. His own tears were soaked in by the denim shirt.
John's notice he was coming up remained unread.

Hi! Character ask game for TAG Scott! Any combo, or all - I'd really love to read your takes!🤗💙
My first impression of them
My least favorite ship of them
A weird headcanon
Future headcanon
When do you think they were being "themselves" the most?
So excited to answer this one! Putting it under a cut because it gets long!
First impression: Wow this guy is crazy, (from hanging off TB1)? Also remember distinctly thinking that, as the obvious head of the family, that this guys really knows what he's doing. I was proved wrong in subsequent episodes. Sorry Scoot! But I really liked Scott from the off!
Least Favourite Ship: I don't really have one that I hate but if I had to pick one I dislike... I'd probably say Scott x Kayo only because I see Kayo as their sister in TAG so it feels a little weird to me to ship her with any of the boys. But that's just my personal opinion on it. There are some amazing Scayo fics out there!
Weird headcanon: I don't know whether this meant a weird headcanon in terms of weird for the character or whether it meant weird for me to have the headcanon, so I'm just going to give a headcanon that might be common but might just be me instead, if that's okay (and if that made any sense?
Okay. To me, I see Scott as actually very musical. Obviously he's nowhere near as proficient as Virgil who is the musician of the family, but Scott can hold a decent tune. In addition to singing, he can also play a variety of instruments including the piano, the guitar, the harmonica, the French horn, the drums.
I think this one is a little influenced by the TOS universe — in one of the Theydon books, Scott plays the piano and there's a bit of background to that — so I kind of just expanded it for TAG Scott (and may be putting it into one of my WIPs... 👀).
But yeah. Hope that answers that one!
Future Headcanon: This is a much easier headcanon question, and it also happens to be one I'm currently writing into a WIP!
Once Jeff is home and everything is more stable, Scott settles down with Marion Van Arkle. She joins iR and they have three children together (who will follow in their footsteps when they're old enough) and Scott lives happily ever after. He deserves the happily ever after! (Although there are, of course, hiccups in the WIP, but that's unimportant here.) Happily ever after Scott! That's important!
Most themselves: Ooh. That's tough. I can think of a few.
Recharge, where he goes off in the Pod despite Virgil warning him against it and, oh look! Virgil was right all along? That sums Scott up I think.
Chain of Command, for most of the episode. Getting angry of not being able to help the people in need; going in for that second rescue regardless of the permission; and then, of course, questioning Janus's authority.
Chain Reaction, for when he saves Fuse even though Marion points out he's a criminal. Scott's line of "everyone is worth saving" is such a Tracy line, but I think it also sums Scott up. Likewise, in Brain v Brawn where he saves the Hood. Dude has a bigger heart than I would have in that situation.
I could go on, but this answer is already an essay in itself!
Thank you for this! It was fun to think about, and I hope I answered okay! 💙

New chapter alert !
It's February 2068 - already! - and here's a sneak peek of the Scott/Jane and co fic...
“Ow” whispered Scott, lying flat on his back, one arm flung over his face to block out light, a bag of frozen peas pressed to the back of his head where a lump was forming.
The very idea that his father might not have perished in the Zero-X launch had been more than Scott could take in. All the blood had rushed from his face and he had blinked as Brains and Kayo had finished explaining what they had found, before swaying on the spot and collapsing backwards in a dead faint before either Jane or Virgil could catch him.
Now, sopping wet, he lay on the kitchen floor, scalding tears trickling down his cheeks.
“Are you sure?” he whispered, moving his arm to look pleadingly up at Kayo, praying this was not their idea of a sick joke.
Kayo and Brains nodded at Scott, breaking all his resolve. Covering his face with his hands, he broke down and sobbed. Jane, unsure what she should do, stared at Virgil who gave her a single nod in reply and sat down next to his brother, scooping him up and gently rocking him until his ragged breathing became more regular.
Once the initial shock of the revelation was over, the family was able to make a single, simple decision. Whatever the cost, they would find Jeff and bring him home to Earth to either live out the rest of his days in safety or to be laid to rest beside Lucy.

Thunderbirds are Go: Miraculous AU Master Post
Tumblr media
2024-01-02: A little update for the new year! Kayo’s section is now complete, you can find it completely at the bottom.
I’ve had fun doing research on Alchemy to build up my AU’s lore, since I decided that my Miraculous set would have an origin based on alchemy instead of just using classic elements. I should have a post about my original Bad Guys (a group of Alchemists who want the Miraculous to do the world conquering thing) very soon.
---
So, I’ve been working on and off on this AU concept for a while, pushed it aside a few times and almost completely abandonned it, but the concept is just so anchored in my brain that I just keep going back to it and working out more and more details and ideas. No fanfics have been produced yet but I’m hoping a story might happen eventually.
I’ll be using this post to organize my ideas. I want to rework the Miraculous magic system a bit and develop the lore more. My Miraculous items have powers based on concepts like in the show, but I’ve also given each an associated natural element, because I’m lazy to come up with superpowers, and because the elements seemed to fit the Tracy brothers well.
I know that the TAG and Miraculous fandoms don’t overlap much, but I would love to hear your opinions on this.
If my ideas inspire you to write your own fic or do some art, you have my full permission to do so. Just don’t forget to send me a link so I can check them out! ^_^

AU Related posts:
- Plot bunny about Brains
-----
Summary:
After the Zero-X tragedy, Colonel Casey has no choice but to shut down International Rescue for good. She simply cannot risk Jeff Tracy's sons suffering a similar fate as their father.
Five years have now passed and the Tracys have all returned to civilian lives and mundane jobs, moving on and slowly drifting away from each other. But helping people has always been the Tracy brothers' true calling. That’s why each are given by a mysterious Guardian a magical artifact called a Miraculous and told to use them for good.
But evil forces want to find the Miraculous and use them to control the world. To prevent this, the Tracys will have to unite and become the heroes they were always meant to be.
-----
Stormhawk
Tumblr media
Civilian name: Scott Tracy Miraculous: Thunderbird Item: necklace Concept: Acceleration Element: Wind Weapon: Grappling Hook Gun
Previous wielders: Windrunner, Captain Thunder Abilities:
- Enhanced physical speed and reflexes - Gliding (wingsuit) - Limited wind manipulation
Attack:
- Tornado: creates a funnel of wind that can blow away objects or slow down someone's fall. This attack will not work under water or in space, as there is no air to manipulate.
Transformation: "Zapp! Updraft!" / "Zapp, Downdraft."
Info:
Stormhawk uses his agility, speed and an occasional boost from his wind control powers to perform incredible acrobatic stunts, swinging or gliding between buildings to reach the danger zone fast and assess the situation.
After a few misunderstandings and frictions with his new teammates, Stormhawk proved himself to be a competent leader, able to strategize and make split second decisions.
Kwami name: Zapp Kwami personality: Zapp is a bossy little drill sergeant who wants to turn Scott into the greatest superhero ever, whether Scott likes it or not. He's impatient and pushy, seemingly more interested in his wielder's superhero exploits than their well-being.
Kwami Favorite Food: Popcorn
-----
Titan
Tumblr media
Civilian name: Virgil Tracy Miraculous: Roc Item: Belt buckle Concept: Demolition Element: Earth Weapon: Shield
Previous wielders: Colossus
Abilities:
- Super strength - Vibration detection - Limited earth manipulation
Attack:
- Tremor: Creates a shockwave that will shatter almost any kind of solid material. Works best against rock like materials like concrete, works the least against wood and other bendable matter. The complete effects of this attack are hard to predict. Transformation: "Bronnz! Move Mountains!"
Info:
The Roc Miraculous grants its wielder incredible physical strength and the power to destroy any obstacle in their way, but the gentle Titan would be the last person who would want to use this power. He is fully aware of the damage his Miraculous could cause and only uses his full power as a last resort.
Titan might seem intimidating at first glance, but he’s a down-to-Earth (hehe) guy with a big heart who just wants to help people.
Kwami name: Bronnz Kwami personality: Bronnz is shy and nerdy and fascinated by modern technology. He likes to take things apart to see how they work but is not very good at putting them back together.
Kwami Favorite Food: Brownies
-----
Nightwatch
Tumblr media
Civilian name: John Tracy Miraculous: Owl Item: Ring Concept: Perception Element: Night/Darkness Weapon: Telescope
Previous wielders: Ghost Owl
Abilities:
- Night vision & enhanced hearing - Camouflage - Limited shadow manipulation
Attack:
-Blackout: creates a sphere of total darkness and silence over a limited area, only the Miraculous user will be able to see and hear inside it.
Transformation: " Nyctti, Nightfall!" / "Nyctti, Daybreak."
Info:
What the owl Miraculous lacks in offensive capabilities, it makes up in stealth. Over the centuries, it was often used by spies but sometimes fell into the hands of criminals.
Nightwatch rarely engages in rescues, gathering information and guiding his teammates from the sidelines, while also trying to unravel the mystery of who chose them to wield the Miraculous and why.
Kwami name: Nyctti Kwami personality: Nyctti can be an annoying know-it-all who always thinks she’s the smartest person in the room. Fortunately, John is more than smart enough to keep up with her and earn her respect. Nyctti also has a habit of falling asleep randomly during the day, since owls are nocturnal and all.
Kwami Favorite Food: Sesame Bagel
-----
AntarctiKing
Tumblr media
Civilian name: Gordon Tracy Miraculous: Penguin Item: Ankle bracelet Concept: Adaptation Element: water/ice Weapon: Harpoon
Previous wielders: Kororā (maori word for the Little penguin)
Abilities:
- Enhanced swimming ability - Resistance to the cold - Limited water manipulation
Attack:
- Frostbite: creates ice spikes or similar simple constructs of different sizes according to the user's will.
Transformation: "Tchill, High Tide!" / "Tchill, Low Tide."
Info:
It's hard to take a penguin theme superhero seriously but Antarctiking should not be underestimated. His water and ice powers can be the most versatile of the Miraculous, to be used in many offensive and defensive ways.
Laid back and cheerful, AntarctiKing can give the impression that he doesn't take being a superhero seriously, but nothing could be further from the truth. He will not hesitate to push himself to his limits to help someone in need.
Kwami name: Tchill Kwami personality: Tchill is the go-with-the-flow type who never worries about anything. He also hates heat and likes to sleep in the freezer.
Kwami Favorite Food: Anchovies
-----
Fireflash
Tumblr media
Civilian name: Alan Tracy Miraculous: Phoenix Item: ear cuff Concept: Combustion Element: Fire Weapon: Ax
Previous wielders: Fire Angel
Abilities:
- Fire Immunity - Limited fire Manipulation
Note: Like the Ladybug Miraculous can counteract the Butterfly's powers, it is rumored that the Phoenix has a secret ability that can cancel the Owl's powers (Foreshadowing? Me? Of course not ;).
Attack:
-Blaze: this attack will surround the user's body with fire, turning them into a human torch. The flames can also be manipulated to propel the user in the air and fly for limited distances.
Transformation: "Sparkk! Ignite!" / "Sparkk, Burn Out."
Info:
The Miraculous were never supposed to be used by children, but the guardian took the risk of giving one to the youngest Tracy brother. Had Jeff Tracy been still alive, the Miraculous would have gone to him instead.
Fire is the hardest element to control but Fireflash seems to have natural talent with it and an instinctive understanding of the magic of the Miraculous. He forms a deep bond with his Kwami.
Kwami name: Sparkk Kwami personality: Sparkk is a little cinnamon roll, a real concentrated ray of sunshine who’s always there to cheer Alan up when he feels down. His Miraculous has unfortunately been involved in wars in the past and with each new wielder he is afraid of being used to cause harm.
Kwami Favorite Food: Snickerdoodle cookies
-----
Black Swan
Tumblr media
Civilian name: Tanusha “Kayo” Kyrano Miraculous: Black Swan Item: Brooch Concept: Transmutation Element: Prima Materia Weapon: Whip
Previous wielders: Alchimia
Abilities:
- Boosting other Miraculous powers.
Attack:
-Swan Song: Allows to transmute one element into another.
Transformation: "Oodil, Join the dance!" / “Oodil, Take a bow.”
Info: The Black Swan Miraculous is an anomaly that should not exist. It was the result of an attempt to create the Philosopher’s Stone using the Elemental Miraculous. It has very little power by itself, but combined with the other Miraculous, it can grant almost limitless power to reshape the world.
Kayo was not given the Black Swan by the Guardian (her father Kyrano), but she could not stand by while her brothers were in danger. She took the Miraculous and uses it to help the heroes from the shadows, while trying to find whoever is behind the suspicious events and accidents happening around the city.
Kwami Name: Oodil Kwami personality: Oodil appears to be mute, communicating mostly by body language. She has a calm personality in general, but will not hesitate to attack if her holder is threatened (careful, she bites). Kayo and her have been friends since Kayo’s childhood, when her father became the Miraculous Guardian.
Kwami Favorite Food: Black Licorice

Left Behind - Where We Left Off
Oh look... after two years I've fixed that big old cliff hanger that I left lying around!
Tumblr media
Thank you to those that have missed me and welcomed me back into the fandom after being absent for so long, the biggest of hugs to all of you... I hope I don't end up leaving you all on another cliff hanger!
For those that I haven't met yet, Hi!
I was here in the TAG fandom right at the very beginning and somewhere around the time the series finished I thought it'd be fun to imagine an AU in which Lucy was alive and well... this monstrosity of a fic is the outcome of that.
Looks like I was pretty rubbish at posting the last few chapters on here so check Ao3 for the fic in its entirety.
For those that don't want to re-read the entirety of what's already there... have a little recap under the cut.
Beware, there be spoilers ahead!
So... where were we?
Part One of this fic was basically about losing Jeff. That's right folks we hit off from the day the Zero-X blows up and Jeff vanishes.
This leaves Lucy, her brother Lee, and Val Casey as the main leads of International Rescue as we know it.
In this universe Lucy demanded that IR could not be run by their family alone and spearheaded what we call the IR academny, from where Scott is about to graduate. Kayo and Penelope are also about to graduate, but in a much quieter private ceremony for our two espoinage specialists. Both of these ladies have their fathers present and playing a big part in both International Rescue and Tracy Industries.
As for the rest of the family, John is working for NASA and about to shoot off into space. Virgil and Gordon are about to join the IR academy (which momma bear Lucy is absolutely having mixed feelings about). And Alan is being the kid that he should rightfully be at such a young age.
Part Two sees us skip forward four years.
We start to see a little more of IR as we know it here, though Virgil and Gordon are very much still learning, and Alan is barely getting away with being allowed to play on the simulators.
Lucy is afraid because of whisperings of Gaat (The Hood) returning and what this might mean for the safety of her family and IR as a world-wide organisation.
What nobody expects is that new camera angle from the Zero-X, leading to the suggestion that Jeff could still be alive.
Gaat tricks Lucy into thinking he has a new ship capable of the same flight, it's aboard this ship where she meets an engineer known as Michael and promises to free him from Gaat's grip. They then discover that Gaat has found his way onto the Island and is threatening the whole family (think Legacy).
Then the ship goes boom.
Part 3 starts out with the aftermath of Lucy being on a ship that exploded. She's in a coma and all of her boys are a little bit lost as to what to do now.
Scott takes over the business and the running of their IR team with John leaving Nasa to take his rightful place aboard TB5. Lee does an excellent vanishing act when it's decided to return Lucy to the island, and we haven't heard from him since.
We also discover that Lucy and Hugh Creighton-Ward might have been more than just friends at some point in the last four years.
Part 4 Lucy wakes up! Then promptly wonders what her place is in the family now that Scott and Hugh have taken so much of her role on for her. Their main concern is seeing her get stronger before they consider letting her take over some of the reins again.
Scott is quite happy to go on regular business meetings as it gives him an excuse to meet up with Tia, his off-island security that may also be turning into something more.
Speaking of which, Virgil and Kayo are also up to something and have a hilariously cute moment in telling Lucy as much.
Alan is also up to something, being the baby of the family and far too young to actually join the academy yet, he's trying hard to find a way to be involved in IR.
More importantly though, thanks to Eos, we find that Jeff is alive!
Part 5 is the most recent part posted... honestly? If you're not going to re-read the whole thing I'd at least read from here as a refresher.
Scott finally talks to people about his hopes and fears, but then his entire world comes crashing down around him is the most summary I can really say without spoiling what happens next. Val starts to question Lucy if they've done the right thing bringing the boys into IR, and Lucy starts to question her own relationships.
But Jeff is alive and there's a whole lot of figuring out how to get him home.
So... that's the fic in summary so far. Honestly, if you have the time and energy please please re-read the whole thing to refresh your memory. I did just that the other week and it opened my eyes as to how much there is that I left myself open to fix so you might find some interesting threads if you look hard enough!

@edutainer2022 , the original post was so long it was causing issues on my phone for some reason, so I'm copying your last post and starting a new 'thread' (so long as that is alright with you. If you so wish I'll copy my reply and put it on your thread ^^;; )
Of IR is obviously a cash sinkhole. They also tend to wreck quite a lot of property through the rescues. Zero-XL trial and error construction alone seems to have cost a budget of a sizable country. Also... the way IR policy is about not saving equipment and John merrily suggesting Global One worth billions of hard fought for tooth and nail funding be abandoned - they boys probably never had to file a grant proposal in their life. In their life equipment the caliber and expense of a space station is replaceable on demand. Unless it has sentimental value.
I LOVE the idea Mom's heirloom money was a major contribution. Although, the old residence of the Gran Roca doesn't appear opulent - we don't know the extent of the estate (and horses? Where did the horses go?). Maybe smart investments, patents, not just aeronatic business. Mom is canonically old southern money (but still no name).
Oh, the Bereznik thing WITHOUT Jeff in the picture would have been a glorious mess. Scott is a) respectfully, a fairy nobody at that point (well, Daddy's boy, but no political and little economic leverage); b) all but a liability for GDF if they want to go ahead with IR - Scott is one foot out and vocal about his brothers being no foot in, the IR branching AWAY into Thunderbirds is afoot, and while it's not a problem to train GDF officers into operatives, the hitch is probably in the rights and specs for the tech (and Brains) - the Tracies are out, IR is out of GDF clutch. So yeah... Scotty MIA is more convenient... than not. So quite likely the Old Guard pooled up for an extraction that "never happened" under conditions that Scott's imprisonment "never happened" to anyone who should ask. Yeah, Scott doesn't like or wants anything to do with GDF law inforcement angle. Maybe IR is later greenlit under STRICT conditions they will only identify as civilians. Scott is so worried Kayo was breaking that rule as if their license depended on it. Maybe it did. He's worried as late as Chain Reaction (all the while aiding and abating an escape of a terrorist out of pure unironic goodness of his heart).
I agree, much as the idea of Military bros is appealing - Gordon indicates no exposure to that structure. Scott does, but, like you said, not in the manner that would suggest he thrived or wanted to do it for life. Semi-canonical "interview" with "Scott" has him flounder on a question what he would do, if not IR. The military service doesn't even come up. Something something about charity and philanthropy.
I wonder how much of Zero-X was built with Jeff and Lee in mind. Calypso was a two pilot mission. There wasn't much OUT THERE at the time to warrant T-drive powered rescues. No Marcian colony, nothing. Maybe Jeff and Lee felt stir crazy, "moored" on Earth and kinda expected to space-the-final-frontier it in their autumn days.
Yeah, TaG tends to be as hard on their equipment (and locations) as TOS was, but you have to factor that by the number of rescues... and with TaG being known, that means that people can 'contact' them for reimbursement for damages and harm and the like. Hck, protection from THAT might be part of the reason Jeff could ahve gone with a branch of the GDF initially. (actually, question... where does the Kyrano was a bad-ass ninja warrior come from? It's never said or even implied in the show that I recall. Is it just because Kayo is a kick-ass warrior? I ask because imagine if Kyrano was originally more of the lawyer type, or engineer who was helping Brains or the like). The Tracys, Brains, and Kayo are REALLY lackadaisical about objects and finances. Sometimes I get it, like when the choice is save a person OR save a thing... but they seem to be richer than even the TOS Tracys, and there are times where their lack of care of items is grating. Teh high-rise fire episode in example, where they took delight and went out of their way to damage the building / cut the top off of it - it legit would have been easier and safer to break the glass and lower the seats down, and the smugness to the building owner after bordered on them being asses. And in another example... yeah, Global One. O'Bannon was RIGHT in her call to try and save the station, that is a MASSIVE investment (and would have been a LOT OF DEADLY DEBRIS RAINING DOWN) and I frankly side with her on it. Like TOS tends to place people above the items too, but they do try to limit damage they cause, in the comics actually do their best to salvage /save items when possible (The ocean liner The President in example) and John and Scott even directly discuss how the Ocean Pioneer was a significant investment for the people involved and they should have tried saving it. Scott AGREES with John on that, but points out that they likely couldn't have done so before it blew up / they might not have been able to. In the comics (and novels to a degree) they HAVE made the call to save the objects as well on occasion.
On the Ranch not looking opulent... sometimes people with a lot of money don't spend it on mansions or the like, but instead on other things... and it's possible that the Mom's family prefered simply, homely, comforts and disliked ostentatious shows of wealth. (In an example... Tracy Island in TOS and TaG is like this. The interior is comfortable and not very showy... yes they're on a private island, but the home itself looks like a upper middle class home of the era. There's Virgil's piano, but it's a baby grand rather than a grand, and white pianos actually cost markidly less than black pianos. The game room has a pool table, but (esp in the 60s) Pool tables weren't that expensive unless you went all in, and even people on the lower end of middle class could possibly have one. The same is true for what we see in the TaG house. Upper end of middle class overall. One or two showy things, but not opulent. Not Southern money, Western money / South-Western money. Southern refers to the states in the south east and tends to come from foresty or farms, where-as western and south western are from ranches or oil/natural gas. (The USA is not so much one country as it is 50 countries in a trenchcoat XD The Mom's home is in the western states, which are about as different culturally from the 'southern' states as... hmm... Ukraine is from France. There are many simularities, but there are also many differences). Bad area for horses though, very rocky with little to no grass or open areas. Not good for cattle ranching either. Most likely it was oil or natural gas (despite teh show lambasting it, oil is vital for a HECK of a lot more than just fuel, and would still be required in the 'modern day' of the show)
Yeah, Jeff being gone when Scott was a POW would make for an interesting situation. a) Scott likely was at minimum a Captain, and the Tracy name would have been well known from how big the company was to Jeff's heroic 'death', so Scott would be in the very bad position of being a 'nobody'... related to several 'somebodies' who could be levereged for ransom and Scott himself would likely be tortured for information on Tracy Industries, the (at that point) shut down iR 'branch', the GDF in general... It wouldn't be a good time for him in the slightest b) Scott being a POW would, terrifyingly, be a 'good' situation for the GDF. He wouldn't have any information they would need to worry about, it keeps him out of the way and out of trouble, he doesn't have teh threat of leaving the GDF which means as long as he's a POW they have access to Brains and the funding from Tracy Industries, they might be able to get Virgil or John to join up (Gordon would still be too young to enlist, as he'd only be 16 or 17)... Horrifyingly, they'd have every reason to both make sure that Scott stayed alive... and stayed a POW. And Scott would KNOW THAT. Which would go a VERY LONG way to explaining his apparent SEVERE lack of trust (and at times apparent near hatred) for the GDF. He likes and trusts Casey and Lee, but the GDF as a whole? Odds are Casey was very much bending or even breaking orders to get even slightly involved in the rescue. Heck, just her HIDING the fact that others were planning a rescue might have been all she was able to do, it might have been almost entirely Penny's dad via his connections and possibly sending Parker in, and quite likely Lee finding a way off the Moon (oddly, despite my earlier statement... I do't think Kyrano would be involved in this rescue. There's no indication that he ever left whatever bolthole he fled to, and if he didn't show up to help when the Hood returned or when they started finding evidence that Jeff was alive... he isn't going to show up to save Scott. Which means the rescue party was likely Parker, Lee, and possibly Penny's dad... who I totally imagine to basically be a 1:to:1 for Sir Jeremy Hodge from TOS. Odds are all the POWs were rescued, not just Scott.
Scott leaving the GDF likely the SECOND he was recovered enough to be coherent / lucid likely was a blow to the GDF, as that means Brains and the Tracy income would now be gone. I could totally see them putting a 'if you become a military organization, we will be 'forced' to have iR become part of the GDF again... it explains the total lack of weapons on the Thunderbirds or Tracys (I'm sorry, weapons for self defense or defense of others is a good thing overall) and why Scott is SO INTENSE about Kayo getting into combat situations... but also why he doesn't really get snarly until Kayo WORKS WITH THE GDF. He sacrificed a HELL of a lot to make sure that never happened, and he likely sees it as the GDF getting one MASSIVE foot in the door to them taking over iR 'again'.
TOS Scott and Gordon show a lot of evidence of not only havng been in the military, but having thrived in it. And some people DO do well in the military, quite often very good people. But Gordon is only 18-20 by the tme of the Pilot, so there honestly is no way for him to have served while still having his lines indicating that he's been a full-time member of iR for a few years prior to the pilot apply on top of the fact that he shows NO behaviors or actions that fit with a former member of the military. tagScott DOES show behaviors and actions that match up with a former member of the military... but they match up with the behaviors of those who just did NOT thrive / work / mesh with the military life. He very much seems to be a 'I served and by God do I regret it' type (which hey, fair, some people just aren't right for it)
you know, oddly, I don't think Jeff or Lee (or iR) were in mind at all with the Zero X. The GDF wouldn't really want either to go out exploring the far edges of the solar system, and with iR up and running (and plans to go independent with it) I actually doubt that Jeff or Lee would have wanted to go do so. Lee AFTER Jeff's 'death' might have been interested in that sort of thing as we see with him staying on the Mars Colony... but not before, I don't think. Look at how happy he was to stay on the Moon Base. He had nodesire or drive to go out exploring, he was happy to stay at Alphie and only left when he had no choice.

A bit of angst that kept rolling around in my brain. Gordon doesn't hold his tongue by accident. Scott is being Scott. The Mechanic unassumingly saves the day. It never came up there was only one pilot to man Zero-X... Emotions run a bit thin and raw the closer it gets to Zero-XL launch.
ONE FOR ALL
There were things they didn't say to Scott. Not even in jest or in the heat of the argument. Not even at the peak of exasperation. But Gordon was not mad. Gordon was happy - all of his dearest dreams were coming to pass almost at once. Penny (pretty definitely) liked him back and they were going to get Dad. He hadn't felt this giddy since the Olympic pedestal. So he slipped.
Scott was a man possessed these past weeks, once the T-drive was firmly underway, courtesy of the Mechanic, running them rugged with drills and contingency upon contingency scenarios. Grandma tutted, but kept to herself. John and Eos designed elaborate simulations to take the brunt off some. Alan asked Virgil quietly if that was how Dad had been. Gordon didn't remember very well himself, but judging from Virgil's sigh it was exactly how Dad was way back when. Gordon didn't mind at first. Or at all, really. He got it. In space everything was out to get you, and they were all going beyond the event horizon with potentially lethal experimental equipment and no back up available for light years around. Who knew what they'd find there, besides Dad. Actually, the carefully sidestepped elephant in every room they ever stayed together these days was just that - what they would or wouldn't find there, among the stars. Gordon didn't mind as well because he wanted to be sure his top form was back after the crash. Not just run of the mill aquatic resques ready, but deep space mission of a lifetime ready. But it was a long day, and a long drill, and Scott was wound up for another go, while Gordon had a call scheduled with Penny. Because they did this now - holocalled and chatted about everything and nothing, working around commitments and time zones. And so Gordon let an innocuous enough "Gee, bro, calling five! Some of us DO have a life, you know!" roll off his tongue, before it was too late. It wasn't too late to dress it as a joke, though, which it WAS. No harm, no foul. Except he noticed Scott freeze for a second, eyes dark and jaw set. But more importantly it was hard to miss Virgil's wide-eyed panic glare, directed his way.
Gordon would have chalked it up to Virgil overreacting, because Virgil always overreacted around anything that could potentially, finally, shatter Scott. Would have, were they not assembled in the lounge the next day, Scott making a disturbingly compelling case why they shouldn't ALL be risking the trip to Oort Cloud and how it was not prudent to remove ALL Thunderbirds at once from the solar system. Big brother had clearly given it some considerable thought, which should have quietened the sickening guilt that took up residence in Gordon's stomach overnight, but somehow didn't.
Scott was calm and completely rational - it scared Gordon even more than what big brother was saying: Zero-XL, like Zero-X, was designed to be manned by one pilot, if need be. Dad did so and it worked. The T-drive frame could be propelled by Three. No need to haul all other birds (brothers, all other brothers plus Kayo and Brains!) across the galaxy and remove Five from orbit. It was, essentially, a scout mission, like they did a thousand times with One. It would only need a first responder pilot - Scott, obviously. If things went south in Oort Cloud - Scott would send Zero-XL back to Earth with a message, so the brothers would know to go get him, or not. In any event they would have Three back.
Gordon was perceptive enough to read between the lines what the abject horror in Virgil's gaze was already spelling in pooled up tears - a) Scott decided, unilaterally, he was to go alone because, unlike everyone else, he had nothing to loose, and b) Scott was not going back if Dad were not there, alive. If there was a (c) there, it got lost in the utter chaos that erupted.
Alan cried bloody betrayal through already abundant angry tears. John threw his tablet across the lounge into the wall with such force it shattered. Brains was so astonished he actually began reciting the variables of it being a viable plan, when Grandma put a firm hand on his shoulder, making him stutter to a stop. Virgil was calling Scott's name under his breath, in a nonsensical plea that always, as far back as Gordon could remember, came down to the mantra "please don't, don't go where I can't follow".
Scott was composed and quiet, as he sat back down on the couch, a serene smile landing on Virgil, then Alan. A glimmer in his eyes, though, belied a fever to fight for his decision. Taking advantage of the general frenzy, Gordon slid off the seat and crouched before Scott, practically kneeling, making sure the big brother had his attention. He wasn't vain enough to think his off-handed comment singlehandedly triggered this... whatever brand of martyrdom Scott was up to this time. But he wasn't taking any chances either. Okay, so maybe Gordon wasn't a Sam to Scott's Frodo. That was Virgil. Scott carried the Burden and Virgil dragged Scott away from the haunted murky depths. But Gordon certainly could be a Merry. He could do something stupid and brave. So he spoke in a rushed, heated wisper:
- Hey, big brother! You DARE go alone, I promise I will stow away on board - you'll never find me. You couldn't find me at Gran Roca, and you wouldn't now. And I WILL pour sugar into Centurium deposit if Brains says it's too risky for you to go. You hear me?!
Scott reached out to pull him up by his shoulders, miraculously unperturbed, and equally not mad. If Gordon had been worried before, he was now Virgil levels of petrified.
The salvation came from the least likely source, not for the first time in so many months - the Mechanic. Summoned to the lounge earlier with all the other inhabitants of the villa, he was hanging on the perifery through Scott's speech. If they figured the Mechanic to be anything through their rocky "collaboration", it was to not be one to sugarcoat things. So he didn't that time either. He would pull apart the T-drive, destroy the specs, and surrender back to GDF custody before he agreed to the "neurotic maniac" (direct quote) to go anywhere near it unsupervised. And he wouldn't subscribe to the T-drive being tested in action without an engineer on board "he could actually trust". That settled the argument right where it started. And if things nearly came to blows, there were enough hands on deck available to haul Scott away. Up and all the way into the movie room away.
If Grandma mouthed an inaudible "thank you", the Mechanic just shrugged. If John was intercepted, leaning his forehead on the hatch of the space elevator and punching it methodically - Gordon didn't comment. He got it. John was mad at Scott. Gordon was mad at himself. They both were mad at the set of circumstances that lead their biggest brother to believe in earnest he was dispensible. They all were mad Scott was the first one to beat them to the suggestion of giving only one brother up for the mission. First responder, as ever. Big brother, as ever. They all needed Dad to be found for it all to veer into any semblance of healing. In the meantime, they all clung to each other through a mirthless movie night with almost paranoid vigilance.
Gordon mused, idly, he would still need to bum detailed Zero-XL specs off of Brains, to go over potential stow away nooks.

chose to do a little Kayo x Rigby as i see them as being quite a cute couple in  eps
Kayo leant back wearily, she has not had the chance to sleep in over 36 hours while being cooped up with the GDF going over strategies and information and leads on her uncle and the chaos crew. It was frustrating, they had been loose for 10 months now and the whole world knew them for their devastation, particularly the new recruited siblings, Havok and fuse.
It was amazing though, the GDF always seemed to have a lead but never followed them until Kayo insisted they did, and even  then, they were always too late, the renegades were always 2 steps ahead of the game and it just brought Kayo to her nerve ends.
Kayo knew she was far too tired to be flying home, even on autopilot incase she had to take charge so thought it was a blessing in disguise when Rigby had offered to let her crash at his place the night till she could return home, this didn't exactly surprise Kayo seeing as she had been dating him for 5 months at this point. Kayo didn't know what had happened or even when considering she originally hated the man, thinking he was too arrogant and full of himself when they first met. However he had started to Change his feelings towards her as they started working together more and more until he asked her out in a cafe after rescuing Ned again
“We’ve really got to change our approach when it comes to tip offs'' Rigby mused towards her, Kayo hummed in agreement “I know, it's like we’ve been chasing sensor ghosts, we need to act quicker in future” she argued back as Rigby silently acknowledged her. Kayo did feel bad though, she had never revealed her secret to Rigby, i mean how could she? One of the very men he's hunting down is her uncle! How would he feel once he found out? Kayo had always imagined he would never trust or talk to her again, and it scared her.
Kayo’s attention was drawn away suddenly as her phone screen lit up ‘message from Scott’. Shoot. The woman had never told her brothers about her and Rigby, she often laughed at thinking of her reactions seeing as she had 5 of them and 4 older and highly protective of her. “Do you know roughly when you’ll be home tonight?” it read, Casey must have told him the mission was over, Kayo stared blankly at the phone before replying “Im staying at the base tonight and coming back tomorrow”. Scott highly doubted that as he raised an eyebrow knowing full well Kayo has made some alarming comments surrounding her personal feelings about them, Kayo knew that as well and she knew she would most likely be in an argument with her eldest brother tomorrow but for now, she just wanted to sleep.
“Kayo” Riggs muttered sleepily “come on, lay down” he smiled softly at her as she did so as Rigby started playing with her hair pushing strands of hair behind her ears and out of her face, Rigby found her hair so soft and it often intrigued him what she used to make it this soft. By now she was dozing off curled up at his side unable to keep her eyes open any longer as Riggs also chose to lay down and give in to his fatigue
“Good night Kayo, sweet dreams” he gave her a small kiss on the forehead before dozing off himself. Their long awaited sleep has finally arrived.
I can already tell it’s quite cringey as i personally find writing romance/romantic thing harder than siblings ones but after reading prompts
“pushing  a strand of hair behind their ear”
“kissing the top of their head”
i knew i had to do a kayo and Rigby one xd

All’s well that ends well
 Day Five
As usual, Scott woke ten minutes before his 6am alarm. Sitting up and stretching, he winced at the pain in his shoulders. His arms ached and his knuckles were red raw from the hours of pounding the punching bag in the gym the previous day. Kayo had cleaned and treated them with witch hazel, carefully bandaging in silence, there were no words which could adequately express the deep, all encompassing sense of loss they both felt.
Dressing slowly, he ran a mental checklist of the day’s tasks. Discussions with lawyers and chairmen of the Tracy Industries board, talking through who needed to do what and what needed signing now that Jeff Tracy had perished aboard the Zero X.
At some point they would need to consider some kind of memorial service, but until John could convince Virgil to unlock his door and emerge from his room, plans would have to wait. By the sound of it, they would likely need to replace a few items of furniture in Virgil’s room and probably plaster a few holes in the walls and give them a coat of paint. At least there wasn’t broken glass or shattered mirrors and tiles in his bathroom to deal with.
Trudging heavy footed down the stairs, Scott paused at the entrance to the sunken lounge and looked across at his father’s desk, the chair unoccupied.
Continuing down to the kitchen, his heart sank. Only a week ago, had it been only a week? He would have found his father in the kitchen, busy brewing coffee, pouring not quite boiling water over Scott’s favourite Rooibos tea leaves, serving freshly baked danish pastries and squeezed fruit juice. Now the room was as unoccupied as the lounge above. A tiny part of his heart had been hoping that his father’s death was just a nightmare.
He sank onto a chair at the kitchen table, staring at Jeff’s empty seat, then flopped forward, burying his head in his arms and weeping silently, not wanting any of his brothers or his grandmother to hear his moment of weakness. Someone had to be the rock of strength holding everything together and, as the oldest son, that was his job. It always had been, ever since his mother had died in the avalanche.
 Day… 2953? 2954?
Rolling over, eyes still shut, Scott flapped a hand around on his bedside table, looking for his phone. Pressing the on button, he stared. Ten minutes past seven? Since when did he sleep through his alarm?
Stomach growling with hunger, he sat up and stretched, wincing at the pain in his right shoulder. It had almost been yanked from its socket a few days prior and the tendons were still complaining.
Pulling on an old USAF t-shirt and tracksuit trousers, he shuffled out onto the landing. Was he imagining the music playing in the distance? Yawning, and walking down the stairs as quietly as possible so as not to wake his brothers, he paused at the entrance to the sunken lounge and looked over at his father’s unoccupied desk chair.
From here, the music was a little louder and he could smell the faint aroma of coffee. Without hurrying, he continued down to the kitchen, blinking at the sight.
At the stove, wearing Virgil’s kitchen apron (a birthday present from the year before, with “Don’t mess with Mama Bear” printed on it), Jeff was waving a spatula, singing along to Neil Sedaka’s Calendar Girl, cooking bacon and eggs.
Pointing to the table, laden with fresh pastries and two jugs of fruit juice, he smiled.
“Your tea’s brewing, and I’ve added Rooibos to the supplies list, you’re running low.”
Scott lowered himself into a chair, nodding mutely and clenching his jaw in a desperate attempt to control his emotions. His father glanced over at him, frowned a moment, then removed the pan from the heat and turned the hob off. Limping slightly, he made his way across to the table and dragged a chair up close to his eldest son.
“I’ve got you, Scooter.” he murmured, reaching out and dragging Scott to sit on his lap, shifting his position to distribute Scott’s weight more evenly.
Without a pause, Scott flung his arms around his father, grabbing handfuls of Jeff’s pink flamingo shirt and began to sob into his shoulder. If his brothers heard him, so what? They had all burst into tears at least once since Jeff had arrived home from his short hospital stay, and none of them would think the less of Scott for those tears of relief.

I admit I never thought I would draw this couple... but here I am. @myladykayo commissioned me to draw Scott and Kayo in a slice of life scene.
Scott is brushing Kayo’s hair after a probably long day of rescue missions and brushing someone’s hair is calming for both involved, I think.
I had fun drawing this picture and I hope I did both of them justice.

Part 1
Veg-notable:  This happened.. not sure where it is going but we will see
Series: Part of my on going Coffee series on A03 which can be found HERE
Characters: Scott, Gordon. mentions of Virgil.  V/K
Location: Tracy Island
TaG-verse AU
E N J O Y
8-8-8
Scott rubbed at the bridge of his nose as he stepped off the elevator into the main level of the house.  The tension headache building behind his eyes not easing one iota even with his efforts and the thought of going in search of a medicinal tincture was starting to sound very appealing.
Rolling his shoulders, he stepped around the corner into the lounge and came to an abrupt halt at what greeted him.
His second youngest brother was parked on one of the sofas,  his feet up on the holo-table and a plate loaded with toast, eggs and other breakfast sundries  balanced precariously in his lap.
“Gordon,  I thought you were carb loading in the kitchen.  You know Grandma hates it when you get crumbs all over the sofa.”
The muffled full mouth response along with some flailing gesticulations, made Scott’s brow twitch and his head ache kicked up a notch.  “Gordon. Chew, swallow, reply. I don’t want to see the half masticated food in your mouth… or on the carpet for that matter.”
Gordon held his hand up as he grabbed his cup of orange juice and washed down his breakfast.
“Wow,  you really are starting to sound like Grandma…  must be your advanced years…”
Scott sighed and turned towards the desk. “Well, if you acted like an adult more often I wouldn’t have to.” Picking up a random data pad, he started to scroll through it and put it back down before picking up another.  “Go eat in the kitchen before Grandma finds you in here.”
“Hell to the no.”  Gordon grumbled taking a bite of toast so massive that it defied all logical human physiology.  “There is a wickedly evil impersonation of the walking dead down there staring at the coffee machine and I really don’t feel like becoming its next meal.”
Scott dropped his data pad back on the desk and swung his attention back to his food shoveling brother.  “Virgil’s awake?”
Gordon nodded around a forkful of egg and mimed a zombie accompanied by sound effect. “Grrr.. Arrrg.”
Scott brows dropped in concern and he eyed the stairs leading down to the kitchen.  “He shouldn’t be up…”
Gordon’s head perked up at his brother’s tone, shifting his focus away from his meal completely.  “Everything okay?”  He queried,  the jokester vanishing instantly.
Scott waved a hand in Gordon’s direction, “No, no. It’s nothing.  Just didn’t expect him to be up so early considering when he got back last night.”
Gordon relaxed back into the sofa cushions and poked at his food.  “Late.  Two back-firing on approach was one hell of an alarm clock.”
“You heard that, huh?”
Gordon chuckled, set his plate down and tossed an arm over the back of the sofa, assuming a laid back pose of the nutritionally satisfied. “They probably heard that all the way in Auckland.”
Scott sighed and looked towards the stairs again.  “The mix ratio is off again,  Brain’s is running diagnostics now.  Said something about exhaust backwash and the O2 scrubbers needing adjustments...I lost track after that.”
“Well that explains why that scary ass thing down stairs is up...He wouldn’t have been able to put that to bed last night if his life depended on it. You know how he gets when something mechanical goes tits up.  Drives him nuts until he can fix it.”
Scott scrubbed at his face and held his hand out for Gordon’s plate in passing on the way to the stairs.  “Keep yourself and Alan scarce for a few hours, would ya.  I’ll see about chasing Virgil back to bed before the island blows up.”
“Want me to find Kayo?” Inquired the blonde as he levered himself up to his feet.
Scott shook his head,  “Nah, I got this.” and trotted down the stairs.

Fixing your bad day!
Every time I'm having a bad day, I just look around at these adorable idiots. We're a happy family, we smile a lot. Hopefully we'll make you smile too.
Lets start with the bestie, the big bro, the hot shot fly boy, Scott.
Tumblr media
Look at this gorgeous grin. Isn't he the best?
Next up is my baby bean, Alan. You can't resist his smile, you know you can't. Just you try it. I dare you.
Tumblr media
Anyone want a Squidward? Our happy little ball of sunshine joy is right here! It's our Gorgeous Gordon.
Tumblr media
What about our Virg? This amazing, chonktastic boy will make you smile just by walking into a room. Look at him!
Tumblr media
Now for the most handsome, perfect, fantastically gorgeous, wonderful (ok I'm a bit biased) space man. Let's have the hubby!
Tumblr media
Want to know where they get all their good looks from? Look no further than our silver fox Thunderdad!
Tumblr media
Pure handsomeness. Amazing.
And what about Grandma? This lady makes me smile every day. I love her to pieces.
Tumblr media
And our Kayo, my backup in a boy filled house. This gorgeous girl with her infectious (but often totally evil) smile.
Tumblr media
And I can't forget this guy! Who doesn't love our adorable boy, Brains? He's the sweetest, loveliest person in the world, even if he doesn't understand more than ten percent of my jokes.
Tumblr media
So, there you go! Here's my happy, I'm sharing it with you. Hope it worked x
