My Fargo Thoughts

Originally posted to Reddit and removed by moderators. Posting here for my own records.

Viewers probably think that Dot looks at the Bisquick boxes and breakfast ads at the Gas 'n Go with only Scotty in mind, but I think there's something more. We will flash back to Dot's kidnapping, to show what happened after she was cornered. She will further injure Donald Ireland, and Munch will give his monologue about kings and his early life, culminating with his request for pancakes. This will have a profound effect on Dot. Her vigorous stirring of batter also creates a little tornado-like whirlpool effect in the mixing bowl, a reference to Dorothy Gale. Let's remember that Liberal, Kansas (the setting for *East/West*) is both the pancake hub of the universe and the self-proclaimed home of Dorothy Gale.

GENDER-SWAPPING AND NON-CONFORMITY

Scotty "the cross-dresser" is the most obvious example here, choosing a suit over a dress, liking ninjas instead of dolls, etc. But the preview shows that Dot and Munch are also going to start dressing like each other. Dot will don a long green coat and become more ferocious, and Munch will wear what looks like a woman's coat with a fur collar and windowpane plaid, mimicking Dot's appearance. These two have a connection of some kind. They are kindred spirits. Also, from the very start of the story, Dot wears pants and Munch wears a kilt. Noah Hawley has said that this season will examine our perception of gender roles.

BRAINS

We've already had a couple of zombie references, and brains are their food of choice. Donald Ireland, demonstrating his thematic connection to the Scarecrow from *The Wizard of Oz*, moans that he needs his brain when Dot suggests that his facial burns could lead to brain infection. Dot also tells Wayne to call Scotty for dinner before her brain turns to mush from watching cartoons, and she mentions some story about a man going to the hospital for a kidney transplant, but ending up with someone else's brain.

DECAPITATION?

All the zombie/brain discussion leads me to suspect that someone will be decapitated on Halloween. We see an inflatable pumpkinheaded figure holding a skull outside the Lyon home, and Witt tells the convenience store clerk to get down before he loses his head.

PIRATES

Dot reads a story about pirates to Scotty, and previews show that she will try to buy a gun from a salesman dressed as a pirate at Gun World. That salesman has an eye patch over his right eye, like Danish Graves, perhaps suggesting that Danish is himself a pirate in some way. I think he knows more than he lets on about Dot's origins.

MIRROR IMAGERY

I've posted before about a possible "mirror universe" theme in season 5, as Noah Hawley has used that term to describe the internet vs. the real world, and how we see enemies in the mirror, when it's actually just a distorted image of ourselves.

With that in mind, we have the mirror-image leopard wallpaper in Dot's bathroom; Munch looking in a mirror and Dot appearing from behind to attack him; Munch seeing the cop car in his rear-view mirror; and Gator noticing his murdered companion in the side-view mirror. The previews also show Dot and Munch mirroring each other's clothing.

There are also mirrored themes in both Donald Ireland and Josh Hunk suffering burns, when both are Scarecrow substitites. And both Roy and Lorraine believe that Dot owes them something via her marriage vows.

THE WIZARD OF OZ

I've talked about these references for months, and now we begin to see them play out.

The name Dorothy Lyon is an obvious nod to Dorothy Gale and the Cowardly Lion. It's clear that Wayne represents the Cowardly Lion, who will find his courage in the end.

The surname Tillman sounds like Tin Man. Roy is a self-proclaimed "hard man for hard times." He ironically lounges in a hot tub, with a steam pipe reminiscent of the Tin Man's hat, and he mentions a "rainy day fund." Water is the Tin Man's enemy, as it causes him to rust. What does this foreshadow? Like the Tin Man, Roy is heartless.

The name Munch is (among other things) a reference to the Munchkins.

The name Donald (meaning *world leader*) Ireland (*the Emerald Isle*) points to the Scarecrow, who was made ruler of the Emerald City until the return of Princess Ozma. Donald ireland reinforces this connection by lamenting the potential loss of his brain, and being set on fire, the Scarecrow's greatest fear. In *The Wizard of Oz*, Dorothy throws water on the Scarecrow to put out the flames. Here, Dot uses ice (frozen water) to hit Donald Ireland and cause him to die by striking the porcelain toilet, which also contains water.

Josh and Lenore Hunk bear the name of the Kansas farmhand who becomes the Scarecrow in Oz. Josh Hunk will also suffer burns when Roy throws hot coffee in his face.

Lorraine Lyon, for now, is playing the villainous role of the Wicked Witch of the West, as well as the role of Mombi, the witch who had Princess Ozma kidnapped and turned into a boy named Tip to hide her as the rightful ruler of Oz. *Mom* Lorraine frequently wears black, and has artwork in her office that depicts women's legs, bringing to mind the legs of the Wicked Witch of the East, sticking out from under Dorothy's house.

The Wicked Witch of the West controlled both the Winkie guards and the flying monkeys through the power of a golden cap. Not only does Lorraine seem to love gold everything, but her non-entity husband is named Wink.

The word *grave* in Danish means *dig*, and the Wizard's real name was Oscar *Diggs*. This suggests that Danish Graves may be a Wizard figure. For now, he is certainly Lorraine's flying monkey.

Dot's bloody feet are the ruby slippers. Her many yellow sweaters represent the Yellow Brick Road. She will also be seen wearing a rainbow-striped sweater, another clear reference to Dorothy.

THE LADY, OR THE TIGER?

The title of this short story has come to mean an unsolvable problem. Dot fills both the role of the lady and the tiger at once, and we are presented with the seemingly unsolvable problem of how she got home to Scandia, MN from Beulah, ND, over 500 miles away, on foot, with no shoes.

Indira Olmstead is shown dealing with her own unsolvable problem of financial debt. As she reviews her bills, we see two art pieces behind her on the wall, depicting a lady on one side, and a tiger on the other.

Episode 4 is titled *Insolubilia*, which literally refers to an unsolvable problem.

A few headcanons for Hetalia Scotland:

Is Alisdair a canon name? If it’s not, idc. It’s a good one 👍 If all the brothers are Kirkland then I like to think it was Scot’s surname first. England (and Wales by extension) took it when the Scottish James I became king of England and so formed the United Kingdom. That all his little(?) brothers took his name is definitely a feather in Scot’s cap.

No one knows if he or Wales is the oldest brother, including Scotland and Wales themselves. The first time they happened to cross paths during their wandering around Great Britain, they each saw another boy who looked the same age. Scotland insists he is the elder brother, Wales disagrees but more quietly.

Scotland has a favourite city out of Glasgow and Edinburgh. But he’s not going to start a civil war in his country by telling anyone which it is! (Psst, it’s Glasgow)

The Auld Alliance was a fiery, passionate affair between Scotland and France. The kind that was pure, mutual lust at first sight and got physical very quickly. Like, “we just met for the first time while our bosses hammer out details and now we’re banging against the wall in the antechamber” quickly. Sexy, sophisticated, continental France vs. wilder, rougher Scotland was just what the doctor ordered for both of them. Unfortunately, it didn’t really last. That kind of white hot, burning hunger never does. It didn’t help that a significant chunk of the non-physical part of their bond was built on their mutual hatred of England. You can’t build a long term love on something like that. Once Scotland’s relationship with his little brother started to improve, his affair with France simultaneously cooled. These days they’re better off as friends. Scot recalls their relationship more fondly and feels more wistful than France does.

And yes, that Scotland was eventually replaced by England as France’s soulmate does make his complicated feelings towards England even more strained. Thank ye for asking *Sound of Scottie teeth grinding*

Scotland holds his liquor best out of all his brothers and can drink most of Europe under the table. Only true heavyweights like Russia and the Balkans give him a run for his money

Like all the UK bros, Scotland has magic and can see magical creatures. Vistors to his country are often surprised to learn that Scot’s favourite isn’t the famous Nessie (though he is very fond of her) but rather his herd of unicorns. Hunted nearly to extinction in the rest of the UK, the unicorn’s last stronghold is up in Scotland. During one of their many wars, England slew Scotland’s oldest and most beloved unicorn (“The Lion and the Unicorn were fighting for the crown…”) and took its alicorn back to London. Even after the unification and a regretful England returning it, Scotland is still bitter.

Yes, Scotland does play the bagpipes. Yes, he’s very good at it. When he plays and Wales sings, it’s really something to behold…er, listen to

What’s Scotland’s least favourite thing about his home? The rain? The cold? No, you fool! The midges. Dear GOD the midges. Eat you alive in summer they will!

Scotland’s cooking makes the rest of his brothers look almost competent by comparison. He has the dubious honour of making both some of the most unappetising food (haggis!) and also the most unhealthy. Everything battered, deep fried, and washed down with fifty cans of drink so stiff with sugar it would make America blush. What’s not to love? Diabetes. Diabetes is not to love. Scot’s bosses have been on a health kick lately but their nation is as stubborn as any of the UK bros and it’s not easy persuading him to change his ways

Scotland wears his kilt like a true Scot: nothing below and god help ye if there’s a headwind 🍆

Kitain (Britain cat) was born in Scotland but doesn’t like spending much time there because of the climate. He still comes to visit Scotland in the summer, though. His favourite place to sleep is on Scotland’s feet. Keeping his toes warm like a living heater

Scotland is very proud that he was able to hold off Grandpa Rome and stop the Romans ever getting a real foothold on his turf. Though that pride is complicated by feelings of guilt that he couldn’t protect his little brothers. Even if they were enemies at the time, it still chafes Scot that part of their isle was occupied for hundreds of years. Seeing England and, to a lesser extent, Wales under Grandpa Rome’s boot and watching them be Romanised was painful

And yes, let’s talk about that elephant lion in the room: England. England, England, England. The golden child of the UK bros that Scotland can’t get away from or ignore no matter how hard he tries. To say Scot’s feelings towards his baby bro are complicated is an understatement. He’s so proud of what they achieved together, but wishes he could claim more of the credit. He feels guilt for not driving the Romans out of Britain, but a small, hateful part still gloats that only he could stop the invaders in their tracks. He’s glad they’re on better terms these days, but resents that the unification has eclipsed him so much in the eyes of the world. He knows in his heart of hearts that his relationship with France was never meant to last, but seeing France with England hurts him even so. Scotland was the older brother, not England. It should have been him. It all should have been him

Scottie has a lot of Nordic in him and gets on well with the Scandis. He could probably make a good case for being one of them, but nothing’s come of it yet. Estonia is very jelly

His favourite food is scotch eggs. His favourite drink is irn bru in the day and good old Scotch whisky at night

Benjamin “Ben” Scott grew up in Brooklyn, New York, to a stay at home mom and a doctor father.

When he was a kid he wanted to be a spaceman, exactly like Buzz Lightyear. That was the dream.

His mom had other ideas since he’d spend his days putting on plays with the other neighbourhood kids and dancing and singing. So, not long after his 9th birthday, she started to push and finally got him a job on the first Broadway production of The Lion King. That was what he did for almost ten years —- he lived on the stage.

After graduation he went on to study drama at Juilliard School, getting into a kind of routine. School, theatre, school, theatre, and then he’d spend Sunday at the gym. He didn’t have much of a social life, just hung out in seedy bars with his theatre friends, getting into fights and very rarely waking up in his own bed, usually bloody and bruised whenever he did.

He dabbled in relationships here and there, fell for a guy in his final year of college, but things weren’t meant to be. Everything was badly timed. He’s probably still a little in love with him to this day, but he’s never been too good at admitting that out loud.

Finally, following graduation, he got his first movie role, nothing major, but hella exciting for him. Movie roles were pretty rare, though, so he paid for his tiny apartment in Hell’s Kitchen with constant stints on Broadway.

He ended up in a bad place. Fell into an abyss of drink and drugs, going out each night after the show pretty much just trying to pick fights. It was almost a game, trying to hide the bruises the next day.

At 26 the relationship he ended up in was beyond toxic, neither one of them any good for each other and he only landed himself in more trouble.

Things went too far one night on his way home following the show; some guy thinking it was funny to continuously rib him over his sexuality. Ben, seeing red, lost it completely and could have quite easily beat him to death.

Prison was his next port of call. He was there for a year, got out on good behaviour, although his stay behind bars did its job in destroying what little movie career he had left.

Since getting out six years ago he’s been working on his anger issues. He’s attended meetings, seen a therapist and he’s big into meditating. His Frenchie, Simba, helps him through.

He attempted another relationship (kinda) with a friend from college days, but that too was destined not to work out for him.

Moving away from New York was definitely a part of the process, he moved over to LA for a couple of years to try something different, got back into theatre and filmed a pilot for a show that sadly wasn’t picked up.

He lost his acting big break thanks to what happened, a major role in a much anticipated movie gone, so he stuck with theatre alone for a while.

During the last couple of months of 2021 he received a letter from the friend he’d dated several years previous in New York informing him that he was a dad. Within a month he’d packed his bags and moved to New Mexico to find her and meet his son. Definitely not part of his plan, but he wanted to try and do something as soon as he found out.

Since getting out six years ago he’s been working on his anger issues. He’s been to rehab, attended meetings, seen a therapist and he’s big into meditating. His Frenchie, Simba, helps him through.

Moving away from New York was definitely a part of the process, he moved over to London for a couple of years to try something different, got back into theatre and filmed a pilot for a show that sadly wasn’t picked up.

He lost his acting big break thanks to what happened, a major role in a much anticipated movie gone, so he’s stuck with theatre alone for a while.

Benjamin “Ben” Scott grew up in Brooklyn, New York, to a stay at home mom and a doctor father.

When he was a kid he wanted to be a spaceman, exactly like Buzz Lightyear. That was the dream.

At 26 the relationship he ended up in was beyond toxic, neither one of them any good for each other and he only landed himself in more trouble.

Prison was his next port of call. He was there for a year, got out on good behaviour, although his stay behind bars did its job in destroying what little movie career he had left.

For a while he considering moving away, thinking that perhaps a fresh start was what he needed, but who was he kidding? He’d always loved New York and could never leave.

Thankfully an opportunity with a good friend and co-star arose and together they opened a theatre production company. It gave him the perfect excuse to get back into theatre and he needed something to sink his teeth into.

Rather suddenly found himself a father to Mira 5 months ago. That certainly wasn’t planned as she was the product of a random couple of nights, but he’s working his way through it and doing his best to be there.

Top 9 Fun Disney Songs

Since the beginning, Disney has always been a family based company. Many of the beloved movies are most likely the first thing lots of people become introduced to as kids. This is because several of the animated films are based on fairy tales or other literature sources. In order to be adapted into movies, the simple, short books had to be stretched out through songs. Due to this, the best fun Disney film songs will be presented.

1. “Be Our Guest” From 1991 Beauty & the Beast: There are many obnoxious and almost repetitive songs provided by the Disney Company. However, Be Our Guest is favored by most Disney fans as the best entertaining number of all time. It’s an up-tempo Broadway and cabaret-style song. Be Our Guest was written by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman. It was originally recorded by Jerry Orbach as Lumiere and Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts.

2. “Friend Like Me” From 1992 Aladdin: In the movie, a character named, the Genie, sings this song. He’s played by and sung by Robin Williams. This musical number features a Casino theme as if the universe was inspired by Las Vegas Nivea. There are a variety of people and creatures preforming dance sequences provided by the Genie's magical whim. Altogether, the event is similar to a fun and crazy Vegas show.

3. “Under the Sea” From the Little Mermaid: This theme song is influenced by the Calypso style of Trinidad and Tobago. The number is performed by Samuel E. Wright as the sea crab named, Sebastian. In the song, all the sea creatures are enjoying their free life in the water in comparison to the difficult world above. It’s fun how every animal is invited to play an instrument and dance in the welcoming event.

4. “Why Should I Worry” From Oliver & Company: Dodger is a street-wise dog from New York City. The character is preformed by Billy Joel. In the movie, the dog sings his hit single from the film’s soundtrack during one of the most messed up moments of the flick. Despite this, the number is the catchiest song Disney has ever produced. Once fans hear the beat, this song will be struck in their heads for a while.

5. “I2I” From the Goofy Movie: Disneytoon Studios’ film features an 80′s inspired pop song called I2I. The title is pronounced, “Eye to Eye”. It’s performed by Tevin Campbell as the character, Powerline, in-universe on stage at a concert in Los Angeles. The song’s title is meant to pay homage to some of the titles Prince’s songs had, like “I Would Die 4 U”.

6. “Prince Ali” From 1992 Aladdin: Instead of a Vegas show performance, this song is presented in a parade theme. Once again, this musical number is sung by Robin Williams as Genie. The song’s music is written by Alan Menken. Howard Ashman wrote the bouncing lyrics to the fantastic song. Since this is the second song from the 1992 Aladdin movie to appear on the list, perhaps this film has one of the best soundtracks of all.

7. “The Silly Song” From Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs: Unlike the other songs, this musical number has two names. It’s also known as the Dwarfs’ Yodel Song. In the performance, the Dwarfs decide to host a party for Snow White as thanks for all the cooking and cleaning she’s done for them. Roy Atwell as Doc, Billy Gilbert as Sneezy, Otis Harlan as Happy, and Scotty Mattraw as Bashful; all preform in the song. Jimmy MacDonald is the Yodeler. The number was composed by Frank Churchill and the lyrics were written by Larry Morey.

8. “Almost There” From Princess & the Frog: Tiana’s picture, of her dream restaurant, takes over during the musical number. In the performance, the animation turns into an art deco style. Anika Noni Rose sings as Tiana during the song. The music was composed by Randy Newman. Although this song may not put people into a sudden clap and dance mood, this banger may make some viewers bob their heads to the music.

9. “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” From 1994 the Lion King: For this song, Jason Weaver preformed as Young Simba. Rowan Atkinson played as Zazu. Finally, Laura Williams sang as young Nala. The singing trio were accompanied by a chorus playing in the background of the number. Tim Rice composed the lyrics for the song, while the music was created by Elton John.

I Just Can’t Wait To Be Free

And another fic for @gumnut-logic‘s #irrelief! The prompt used here is “Any characters – trapped in a lift/elevator” from @darkestwolfx

When Scott gets stuck, Gordon’s the only one around - too bad he can’t stop laughing.

“Stop laughing.”

Scott sounded tired, frustrated, and just about ready to throttle the nearest unfortunate brother – who just so happened to be him – but that didn’t stop Gordon cackling loudly at his eldest brother’s misfortune.

International Rescue had the best rescue gear in the world. International Rescue had access to some of the best technology in the world. International Rescue currently had one of their operatives trapped in a lift and no-one could figure out how to get him out.

Not that Gordon was trying particularly hard, he had to admit. If the situation was different, then of course he’d be donning his Rescue Mode and trying to work out the fastest and most efficient method of extraction. But they weren’t on a rescue, they weren’t even on the mainland – any mainland – and Scott didn’t need to be anywhere in a hurry, so Gordon felt quite justified in cackling at his brother’s current situation.

It wasn’t every day Scott got stuck in his own launch chute, after all. Luckily, he was returning from a rescue, not the other way around, so there was no real urgency to get him out. There was the concern that if Thunderbird One’s launch chute was malfunctioning then it would need a complete service before anyone stepped foot in it, and Scott would have to take the long way down to the hangar until it was deemed fit to use again (complete with pulling on his spare uniform by hand, which Gordon did not envy), but that was a concern for later.

Mostly because Scott was still inside, Brains was at a conference the other side of the world with Moffie, and Virgil was still in the air with an ETA of another hour. Kayo was off doing Kayo-things who knew where, Grandma was still unaware in the kitchen as she conjured up another inedible horror, Alan was with Virgil and John was off-planet.

John and EOS had tried to remotely fix the chute, but it quickly became apparent that it was a mechanical issue, and therefore nothing that could be done by remote control wizardry. An ion wrench was probably the tool for the job, and even if Gordon didn’t have a ban on touching Virgil’s tools (and no-one went near Brains’ without strictest supervision), fixing errant launch tubes was rather different to repairs on a submarine.

Hey, they all had their specialities. Gordon’s just happened to be not this.

So, really, there was nothing for Gordon to do except sit and laugh as Scott growled at him from the other side of the false wall. He’d even offered to stream Into The Unknown to Scott’s comm to relieve his boredom until Virgil got back, but that had been rejected.

Virgil had been alerted to the situation, at least. He’d told Scott that he was hurrying back and had got an irritated snipe at the sluggish speed of Thunderbird Two in response. Not Scott’s smartest move – a private message to Gordon had informed him that if Scott was going to be like that then he could wait because Virgil was certainly not going to push his beautiful ‘bird for the sake of an ungrateful brother who was at no risk of harm except to his ego.

Hence the hour ETA.

Scott was too smart to not realise that was not Two’s top speed, but no apologies had come out from the chute – Gordon knew those would come later, once he was free and no longer stressed out from being trapped in a small area for who-knew-how-long. Scott wasn’t claustrophobic, not by any means, but there was always something about being stuck in a place with no way out that got to people.

They’d all done enough cave-in rescues or similar to know that one.

That was why Gordon was laughing. It might annoy the heck out of his brother, but as long as he could hear a voice, Scott knew he wasn’t alone, hadn’t been left there. Gordon might not be able to get Scott out, but he could make sure he knew he hadn’t been forgotten.

Oh, Scott would never thank him for it, of course. Scott had a heavy dislike for being mocked, and there were other ways he could have made his continuous presence know – his usual methods of calming rescuees on missions, light-hearted banter and stories – but hey, he was a younger brother. He had a duty to be irritating sometimes.

“Gordon, your Ed impression is not helping.”

Gordon stopped laughing immediately, squinting at the (currently not) swivelling fake wall between him and Scott.

“Did you just make a Lion King reference?” he demanded. He knew Scott liked pre-millennium movies, and the Lion King, despite its lack of anything space or plane related, had always been a family favourite. They’d seen it several times on family movie nights.

Was it his imagination, or was the answering silence a little apprehensive? “Scoooooootty.”

Silence continued to answer him, and a hyena-like grin slowly spread across his face.

“Iiiiiii’m gonna be a mighty king,” he started, leaning his back against the wall just next to the rotating section. “So enemies beware!”

“Gordon,” Scott complained. He just laughed.

“Come on, Scott,” he encouraged, before singing the lines again.

“No.”

“You can do Simba’s part instead?” he offered.

“No.”

“Scoooooott.”

“No.”

Well, if he wanted to be a spoilsport…

“I’m gonna be a mighty king,” he repeated again. “So enemies beware!” Then he deepened his voice. “Well, I’ve never seen a king of beasts with quite so little hair!” Too deep. Ah well.

“I’m gonna be the main event, like no king was before! I’m brushin’ up on lookin’ down; I’m workin’ on my ROAR!”

Still silence from the chute, so he cleared his throat and tried another pitch.

“Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing.”

That was better.

“Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!”

Ah, now this was going to get a little tricky solo. He cleared his throat again.

“You’ve rather a long way to, young master, if you think- No-one sayin’ ‘do this’-”

“Now when I said that…” Scott’s voice finally broke through the sullen silence the other side of the wall and Gordon allowed himself a victory punch. He knew Scott wouldn’t be able to stay silent the whole time. Little brother’s intuition. He lifted his voice higher for Nala’s line.

“No-one sayin’ ‘be there’!”

“What I meant was…” It sounded rather like Scott was taking out his exasperation through Zazu. Well, it was in character.

“No-one sayin’ ‘stop that’!”

“What you don’t realise…” Gordon hoped John was recording this. Oh who was he kidding, of course he was.

“No-one sayin’ ‘see here’!”

“Now see here!” That sounded familiar.

“Free to run around aa-all day!”

“Well, that’s definitely out.”

“Free to do it aall myyyyy waaayyyy!” Gordon finished the section with a blemish, and quietened, waiting. Question and answer phrases were one thing, but there was no guarantee that Scott would continue into the next section.

Big brother didn’t disappoint.

“I think it’s time that you and I arranged a heart to heart.”

Gordon’s hyena-grin settled into something more genuinely pleased as he picked up the answer, tapping lightly on the false wall for emphasis.

“Kings don’t need advice from little hornbills for a start!”

“If this is where the monarchy is headed count me out!” Scott barked, answering knocks in time with the words. “Out of service, out of Africa, I wouldn’t hang about! This child is getting wildly out of wiiing!” Scott was no Virgil – none of them were – but he could hold a tune when he put his mind to it. With nothing else to do except knock on his side of the wall to emphasis certain words (and Gordon was fairly sure the ‘child’ he was actually thinking of was not a certain fictional lion cub, but maybe an annoying but lovable squid instead), now was a perfect time to put his mind to it.

“Oh I just can’t wait to be king!” Gordon replied. “Everybody look left! Everybody look right!” He whipped his head around, even though there was no-one there to- oh, hello John! He gave his older brother a cheeky wave, and got an eyeroll for his trouble although the spaceman stayed mercifully quiet. “Everywhere you look I’m, standing in spotlight!”

“Not. Yet.” Scott answered, biting it out in a perfectly-Zazu fashion, and Gordon grinned triumphantly at John before launching into the choral line. To his absolute delight, Scott joined in.

“Let every creature go for broke and sing! Let’s hear it in the herd and on the wing! It’s gonna be King Simba’s finest fling!”

“Oh I just can’t waaaaaaiiiit… to be kiiiiiiiing!” Gordon finished with a flourish. In front of him, John shook his head and vanished, maybe to report to Virgil. Or maybe to explain to Grandma what her grandsons were doing.

“Are you satisfied now?” Scott asked. He sounded a little less stressed, which Gordon counted as a win, especially as the entire operation had taken less than five minutes, and Thunderbird Two was still nowhere near landing.

Fifty-five more minutes to fill before Virgil and his ion wrench came to the rescue.

“No way, Scotty,” he drawled, settling back against the wall again and ignoring the murderous silence. “What next?”

“No.”

So it was back to that was it?

“Hakuna Matata,” he drawled, and heard a sigh of resignation behind him. “What a wonderful thing.”

By the time Virgil finally arrived an hour later, freshly showered and clearly in no hurry to rescue their brother, although he was dutifully carrying his toolbox, Gordon had dragged Scott through every movie duet he could think of and then some.

It was a dishevelled eldest brother desperately wanting a shower of his own that eventually found freedom, but a smiling one.
