POSCA MARKERS! When I opened this box I was so pleasantly surprised to get POSCA Acrylic Markers, especially in these pretty colors. I love POSCA because they write so smooth, the colors are vibrant and decently opaque. Not to mention that you can use these babies on just about any surface and to help add to other mediums.

Scrawler Challenge: Character Creation

Just recently, my daughter’s hamsters passed away so I felt a little inspired to immortalize them for her.

Good Evening 😊 I got my #scrawlrbox last Saturday and today finished the October #scrawlrchallenge : Asemic Aesthetic. I was very worried that I ha trouble with the challenge, but that was not the case. I must be honest, I still needed to start over, because I smeared over the artwork. For the challenge I drew a dragon eye and it’s my Favoriten Part.

I like these pens but the paper not much, because the pens eats away.

#scrawlrchallenge : Mother Nature

These supplies were definitely interesting. It took a bit to get the hang of but I was also having trouble varying the colors and shades. I found that the paper was nice but it doesn’t handle too much water very well. The paper started to lose its texture in places and even though the paper was taped down it still warped in a few places. When I tried to pick up or erase some of the liquid graphite, it only ruined the paper after. If you don’t plan to use too much water with your work, these are perfect. They are also not bad to keep handy for practice with technique, values or swatches. I’ve received the pencils in previous art subscriptions and like them. They aren’t anything extraordinary but they do the job. I like to keep them around for watercolor sketches.

Inside the Box:

•Derivan Liquid Pencil Tubes (Rewettable)

•Derwent Water Soluble Sketching Pencils

•ScrawlrBox Flat Synthetic Brush (Size 10)

•Koh-I-Noor Combined Eraser

•Etival A5 CP Water Colour Pad 300gsm (8 Sheets)

Scrawlrbox #60 August 2020

So, this box was based around acrylic, specifically heavy body acrylics. Something that I’s not too using. True be told, I’m not really sure how to use them. I ended up working much like I would do with a normal acrylic painting. Meaning there wasn’t that much texture (something the box prompted).

The prompt that came with this box was “Facial Topography”, added with the fact that this box basically came with the pan flag colours. I ended up doing a ““realistic”” Jack Harkness portrait. However, since it has been years since I last needed to draw a realistic face. My normal style came out when I got to the eyes. I have no clue how to scale the parts of the face.

Charcoal, pastels and I never really had a great relationship. This months Scrawlrbox Challenge was ‘Carbon Heroes’ and, I cant really explain the way my brain works but the only thing that came to mind was Captain Planet. Who knows. Anyway, I couldn’t get Don Cheadle out of my head, some of y’all might recall his skits. My brain… I have no words to explain the way the cogs turn sometimes. I didn’t draw him but I did try to give him less obvious Caucasian features. Didn’t really work as well as I hoped. Halfway through I was just ready to get this piece over with.

The eco living q-tips weren’t very ideal for blending anything for me. I felt like I wasn’t doing anything. It picked up the charcoal and streaked a lot of the drawing more than it blended.

Some of the supplies came broken and essentially unusable but it was mostly the willow sticks. The charcoal was broken but I did the best I could with it. I was pleasantly surprised by the double sided Faber-Castell Perfection Eraser Pencil.

In the Box:

* Coates Willow Charcoal Sticks

* Seawhite Black Compressed Charcoal Block

* Koh-I-Noor Gioconda Charcoal Pencil

* Lyra Rembrandt Chalk Pencils

* Lyra Rembrandt Splender Pencil

* Winsor & Newton Medium Kneaded Putty Eraser

* Faber Castell Perfection Eraser Pencil

* KUM Magnesium Double Hole Pencil Sharpener

* PaintOn Grey A5 Pad (8 Sheets)

I’ve finally came back home from a trip to find this beautiful @scrawlrbox waiting for me!⁣

I’m so proud that it’s my art print inside. I was the featured artist for the month of July 😁 How cool is that?⁣

I totally love the artworks that Scrawlrbox’s subscribers already managed to create with the liquid pencil ♥️
